The brothers Grimm were German academics and authors best known for collecting and publishing folklore and fairy tales from oral tradition. Jacob Grimm (1785-1863) and Wilhelm Grimm (1786-1859) collected tales they heard from common people and revised them for publication. Some of their most popular works included Snow White, Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, and Rumpelstiltskin. Their collection of folk tales became widely known and helped preserve important parts of European cultural heritage.
