1. Station 43 – 9 Frames

2. The first frame is of the number 43 and this is
a important number for the film because It is
involved in the title so when people see this
they know it links to station 43 , also the next
frame the see after this one is of a train
station therefore suggesting that ‘Station 43’ is
the station the audience is seeing , this is a
way of telling the audience something what
they maybe have no been aware of if the
wasn’t watching properly, this is a technique a
lot of film use , they can give away hiding
messages through simple means and people
will only find out later on in the film the what
they thought was either right or wrong. This
frame also doesn’t give too much away , yes it
makes people think but it doesn’t confirms
anything so there is still the mystery especially
due to the numbers counting up to 43. this is
the first thing people see after the opening
credits and this sets up the film.
In this frame we can see 3 characters in total , the
first two are far away but are still in the middle of
the shot what creates the focus point on them so
therefore reviling that they are the main
character. People may not take notice of the guy
in the back ground because he is further away
and not in the middle but this gives him mystery
and start to create questions about who he is.
This frame also set up the setting and location
because it shows a nearly empty train platform
what creates a sense of danger , when you think
of horror/thriller films at train stations they are
never packed and normally at night we wanted to
capture that but instead of doing it at night we
did it during the day because it takes a bit of the
danger away but we wanted to put across the
point that no one is safe doesn’t matter where
they are or whether its day or night. It also shows
again who the production complain is again , a lot
of films do it where they show it twice, first with
the opening credits and then again with the
opening scene.
This frame now focuses on the man in the
background , but this time he is in the middle of the
shot, this emphasizes his importance in the film, and
the fact the we cannot see his face again creates
mystery and lets audience know that he will be the
‘bad guy’ of the film , we didn’t want to give away
anything about the guy to the audience because we
wanted it to be one of those films where you find
out more as the film goes along but with every
answer there will be another question , a lot of film
do the idea where you find out more as you go
along because there would be no point telling the
audience at the beginning because it takes away the
mystery factor and any chance of a plot twist what
are two main factors of a thriller. The dark knight
uses the same idea of not given away anything of
the bad guy but letting people see who he is , but
they end up not giving away too much information
about the bad guy at all , I think that is a good way
to keep people questioning but I don’t think it
would be a good idea for our film , instead I would
prefer to explain it all later on in the film.

3. This next frame shows the characters sitting
down in a train looking back a picture of
them self's, this scene goes on for quite a
while compared to the others so the
audience can pick up on the fact the the
mysterious guy who they just saw is in the
back of all the picture , this tells them that
this is being going for a while what creates
even more questions and that was one of
the targets we was trying to achieve , we
wanted it so the audience would have so
many questions that it would intrigue them
to keep watching it more and more to find
out the answers. Also this shows the
audience even more that these people are a
couple. Also the fact that this scene goes on
for a while suggest that the train has been
moving, even though the audience cannot
see that it is, they will know that some
movement has happened. We have used a
method where the audience knows that
movement has happened even though it
hasn’t shown any movement
This frame shows the title, and tells the
audience either that he was take at station 43
or is going there. We wanted the title to stand
out and because we used the black
background the best colour to used was
white. We didn’t want anything else to be on
the screen because we wanted people to
focus on the title and this would be the time
to start thinking about all the question what
have been brought up. Also the fact that it
goes from the guy being taken to a black
screen and then to the title creates tension
and that is one of the main factors of a
thriller. The sound in this scene creates even
more tension because it’s the sound of the
services of the train, this is a normal thing to
hear but we have changed it to make it a bit
more quite and sound a bit different and this
gives it more of a scary element to it. A lot of
horror/ thriller film use this, they use a
normal sound or sound and change it so its
more creepy , it normally with children's
nursery songs.
This frame shows that the boy is now alone and
this is where was put a plot twist because they
audience would be expecting for the girl to be
taken but we didn’t want to do that because it
was too boring and basic , we wanted to mix it up
a bit and we also wanted to have a plot twist in
our opening , even though it isn't a massive one it
still could effect the story dramatically. This frame
shows that the mystery man is about to strike
and this sets up the plot of the story, we was
going to have a scene where he took someone
else and had a planning scene about it but we
thought it wasn’t going to work we what we had
already, so we decide to not use that idea and
instead work with what we already had, with the
scene before we didn’t have the girl leaving on
film so we had to add a voice in so it would make
scene, because that was the most asked question
by the audience feedback ‘where's the girl gone’.
Also in the scene we used special effect so we
can go from this scene to the title, this makings
the scene a lot more dramatic and tense and sets
up the rest of the film.

4. This is the first scene after the title ,
originally we was going to have the
title at the end but we change it
because we thought it looked to much
like a trailer rather than a opening , we
thought this scene would be perfect for
having it after the title because it
opens up a lot of possibility's and it
makes it look like it carry's on. This
scene also includes the director of
cinematography. We wanted to not
challenge normal film in thing idea
because its normal for a film to have a
cinematographer and director at the
end. This was one of the scene where
we filmed it thinking it would be good
even though we didn’t know where to
use it.
This is very similar to the last scene
but we used a pan shot the make the
camera follow the train and showing
it leaving the station. This is where
we put the director because the was
the last filmed scene of the opening
and as I said before that we wanted
to keep with that idea. When we was
doing the credits we wanted to have
the name of the actors next to the
character who the are playing so
people can know who the are . We
didn’t involve anymore cast names
because we felt it wasn’t needed, we
thought it was best the have the
main cast shown and leave the other
cast at the end credits , we rather the
people would focus on what going on
in the opening rather than the actors
names.
This was the last frame of the thriller and this is
one of the last thing we editing in, we needed
something else to keep the story going and we
wanted to do a past scene at the start but we
`thought it wouldn’t work because we had so
much to put in and if we did it , it would look so
rushed , we felt it was better to have the next part
of the film to explain what happen before so we
can go into detail about why this is all happening
and when did it start , it also means that we can
explain why the guy is in all the pictures. We
wanted to also keep the same font as colours as
the title so its not all just random. We hadn't got to
film all the scenes we was planning because we
ended up getting kicked out of the station , that
made us focus a lot more on the editing so it
would all work , we trying to film it in order so we
was able to get a lot of the early scenes, and we
had a lot of problems with filming because the
rains kept leaving every 20 minuets so it made it a
lot harder to get all the shots , and also not all the
trains was the same but luckily we was able to get
the shots on the same type on train on the right
platform.
