Bristol was awarded the title of European Green Capital for 2015. To receive this award, a city must demonstrate high environmental standards, a commitment to sustainability, and an ability to inspire other cities. Bristol established a Green Capital Partnership of over 350 organizations pledged to making Bristol a low-carbon, high quality of life city. The Partnership includes action groups focused on key issues like energy, food, transport, and waste. In 2015, Bristol will host several flagship sustainability events and implement a community engagement program to reinforce sustainable living and leave a green legacy.
