The document discusses various ways to make trips greener. It recommends saving fuel by carpooling, reducing plastic waste by recycling, and engaging in online shopping which reduces the need for transportation. Walking or cycling to school is promoted as a healthier option that saves fuel while providing fitness benefits. Using a portion of plastic waste in road construction can reduce costs while generating jobs and using a renewable material. However, toxic chemicals in plastics may leach and gases released during construction. Overall, adopting greener transportation habits like public transit, carpooling, cycling and reducing consumption can benefit both environmental and personal health.

Science alerts us that to significantly slow down Climate Change we have to reduce carbon emissions by 50% by 2030 and to be neutral by 2050. This requires that the events sector radically rethinks and redesigns our business strategies to not only become more sustainable, but to catalyse other industries while we regenerate our host environments and communities.
This raises the question are we ready to undertake the deep and exponential changes to survive, do we have the leadership capacities that this demands? And perhaps most importantly do we need to speed up the existing industry evolution or start a low carbon revolution?
In this inspiring, interactive and educating session, we will enter into a deep conversation, exploring the pioneering strategies and actions required to transform tomorrows events industry from one disrupted by a climate emergency to a sector that creates a prosperous future for all.
The session is designed to unlock the collective intelligence of the audience through a series of short Firestarter speeches from sustainability leaders from destinations, venues and clients, followed by a moderated debate and knowledge interchange between all participants.
You are fast on your way to being an adult
You are already using roads independently
You are responsible not only for own life but the lives of others on the road
Why Road Safety?
Road traffic accidents - No 1 cause of death (10-25 years)
Avg 1000 young people die everyday.
For every child killed, 10 are seriously injured.
Children, elderly, pedestrians & cyclists are most vulnerable.
Which makes Road Safety very important and thereby this presentation by Address Health.

Monetising music on mobile
What can we learn from the past 20 years of music and mobile? Where are the opportunities and threats today? And are apps going to be around forever?
Everybody is a retailer
Both the music and the sports industry focus on merch, tickets, and content sales, traditionally working with a large number of different distributors and silo-based solutions. Digital technology is increasingly enabling aggregation of sales and marketing. Does this involve a change in strategy and mindset of how to entice, market and sell, including up-sell, to fans? What are the learnings from the music industry?

Streaming technology has heralded the rise of different companies to challenge the previously comfortable position held by Apple iTunes. Music providers need to ensure that they have the flexibility to adapt to all industry licensing shifts and changes so that their platform remains relevant and open for new partnership opportunities.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
2. INTRODUCTION
Making our trips green in today’s world is very
important because our sources like fuels are
finite. And once over we are never going to
get them back. We live in an exciting world of
technological development with various
automobiles, online shopping, etc. Though
this provides numerous benefits to us, excess
use of them can harm us. So this presentation
is going to teach us about how we can make
us trips greener, healthier and safer.
3. HELLO!
Members of the group:
1- Alisha Poonawala - Group leader and Editor
2- Nayanika Kamat - Compiler and interviewer
3- Dheeraj Patil - Photos and videos
4- Jahanvi Narsinghani - Articles and research
5- Maheeka Raj - Articles and research
4. Different ways to make our trips
green
1- Saving of fuel.
2- Recycling of
plastic
3- Car pooling
6. Why is it important to conserve fuel ?
Several reasons: Fuel is an finite resource
that we are running out of ! Conservation
of fuel will put less of a strain on the
global environment. Once over we are
never going to get it back.
7. HEALTHIER WAY TO TRAVEL TO SCHOOL
Rather than buses, vans, auto rickshaws,
scooters, don’t you think walking or cycling
to school would be better ? A very effective
way of increasing physical fitness, which could
reduce the chance of heart disease, diabetes,
cancer and other diseases ? Rather than
keeping us fit its also going to save planet
Earth. We need to understand that the choices
we make now will shape our opportunities
well into the future.
8. Why don’t we go to school cycling ?
Getting on your cycle doesn’t only get you where
you want to go faster than a car, but it also
protects you form a wide range of ill health, and
also makes you feel better. And most of us say
that cycling or walking is going to get you all
more exposed to the traffic fumes but don’t be
worried because cyclists and pedestrians actually
absorb lower levels of pollutants from traffic
fumes than car drivers. And its also better than
cars because it doesn’t consume fuel and makes
us tall and thin !
9.
10. What about walking ?
If a daily fitness walk could
be put in a pill, it would be
one of the most popular
prescriptions in the world.
It has so many health
benefits.
13. ADVANTAGES OF PLASTIC
ROADS
Use higher percentage of plastic waste.
Reduce the need of bitumen by around 10%.
Increases the strength and performance of the
road.
Reduces the cost to around Rs.5000/Km. of
single lane road.
Generates jobs for rag pickers.
Develops a technology, which is eco-friendly.
14. DISADVANTAGES OF PLASTIC
ROADS
Cleaning Process:
Toxics present in the co-mingled plastic
waste would start leaching.
During the road laying process:
But the presence of chlorine will definitely
release noxious HCl gas.
After the road laying:
The components of the roads once laid are
not inert.
15. Online Shopping
Online shopping saves fuel…
Many benefits are gained by online shopping. Because of money
saving and quick convenience, people from all over the world are
adapting to this latest way of shopping. Fuels like petrol and diesel
have ever-rising prices. Even traffic jams are forcing people to go for
e-shopping.
Rather than travelling to far-off markets, shopping in virtual bazaars is
more preferable. For example: if you want to buy a hand-bag, you
go to a shop but you’re not satisfied with it. You can save your fuel,
energy and time just by logging on to your computer. The impact of
your online, responsible purchase can keep the environment
healthy and can keep you away from needless physical work and
mental irritation.
So switch to online shopping and cut down your fuel bills!
17. CAR POOLING
Carpooling is enjoying the comforts of car travel
while utilizing the car more efficiently and in a
more environmentally friendly manner.
There are a number of benefits of carpooling:
1-Reduces traffic
2- Environmental friendly
3-Cost
4-Time
5- Stress
Carpooling is another sustainable travel option
that you can easily adopt and will have a positive
impact on your life. So sign up for a carpooling
program today and begin to share that drive.
