This document describes a QR code scavenger hunt activity for students to learn about the library. It involves: - Dividing students into teams and giving them 11 questions to answer by scanning QR codes around the library within 20 minutes. - The questions are in both English and Spanish and cover the library's spaces, services, collections and how to find certain materials. - Teams use iPads to submit their answers. At the end, they discuss their findings. - The goal is for students to explore the library, learn where things are located, and feel more comfortable using it through a fun, collaborative activity.

1. This QR Scavenger Hunt is an interactive way to introduce
students to the sometimes overwhelming library environment.
Students are assembled into teams and given eleven questions
about the Libraries' spaces, services, and collections. In this fast-
paced game, they have just 20 minutes to answer as many
questions as they can. The pairs have to work together to scan
the qr code clues, search/think to find the answer, and record on
the scavenger hunt answer sheet. The questions are written in
both English and Spanish depending upon what each student/
group is more comfortable using.
Each team uses an ipad from the building cart to submit
their scavenger hunt answers on the sheet. At the end of the
scavenger hunt, the teams reconvene to briefly discuss their
findings. By the end of the activity, students have not just
learned about the library; they have interacted with it by
exploring its spaces and the website, they have taken photos
with a librarian, and have found a book in the stacks. The
Mobile Scavenger Hunt presents our library as a place of
discovery in a fun, low-stakes, collaborative way and reduces
library anxiety by using situated, problem-based learning.
