Introduction
The fluid flow is subjected to energy losses as it moves through pipes, particularly
via friction. An indication of energy loss is in the form of a head loss or pressure
drop. The task at hand will be to investigate the variation of head loss at different
velocities through a 17.2mm diameter and 4.5mm diameter pipe. The results will
then be used to derive the Reynolds numbers for each velocity and then compared
the variation of friction factor. From the results we will be able to gain an insight
into the different types of flow and observe the region of transition as a fluid changes
flow type from laminar to turbulent flow. The result calculations will consist of both
experimental and theoretical results, this will help us to understand better the impact
of errors. A comparison will then be made of the Friction factor to Reynolds number
ratio for both experimental and theoretical results. Aim and objective

shots and angles, little things like editing and voice overs, which create a biased view

competitive cooking show, were a group of people compete, for a chance to win
$250,000 and become the next biggest star! The contestants go through a series of
weekly challenges and eliminations that slowly stir up emotions and drama. This
show is created to entertain the audience, so every moment is exaggerated even
faked. MasterChef is known for their judges;George Calombaris, Gary Mehigan and
food critic Matt Preston, which have a mix of bitter and loveable personalities. Each
episode is jammed packed with dramatic interviews and tension building moments,

I recently attended a Gamblers Anonymous (GA) meeting at Perkins restaurant in
Missoula Montana. At this particular meeting there were only two participants, the
chair person and one group member. The chair person is a Caucasian, mid life,
female the one group member is a Caucasian, senior, female. At Perkins the group
was allowed access to the back of the restaurant which was empty and consisted of
several tables and chairs. Once the meeting started the atmosphere was very casual
and laid back. The chair person was genuinely interested in why I was there. We
talked briefly then explained to the one group member in attendance why I was
there. The group member was excited to have a different face in the crowd. The
conversations flowed naturally and my presence did not seem to affect the group.
I arrived at Perkins about one hour before the scheduled meeting time, I did not
want to be late and walk into the meeting and disturb the members. Once the
chairperson arrived I felt a little relived, I was in the right place and she was
expecting me. We talked briefly and then went to the back of the restaurant. I was
surprised once the meeting started that only one member was in attendance. Along
with surprising me it also eased my nerves as I was an outsider. However once the
meeting started I realized the group member was just as nervous having me there as
