1. Essays On American Revolution
Crafting an essay on the American Revolution can be a challenging yet rewarding endeavor. The
complexity arises from the vast historical landscape that the American Revolution encompasses,
demanding meticulous research and a comprehensive understanding of the events, ideologies,
and key figures that shaped this pivotal period.
To begin with, one must delve into the roots of discontent that sparked the revolution, exploring
issues such as taxation without representation, colonial grievances, and the influence of
Enlightenment ideals. The narrative must then navigate through the various phases of the
conflict, from the initial tensions to the Declaration of Independence and the grueling war that
ensued. Analyzing the motivations behind different groups, including Patriots, Loyalists, and
marginalized communities, adds another layer of intricacy.
Moreover, addressing the global context and the impact of the American Revolution on
international relations requires a nuanced approach. Examining the social, economic, and political
transformations that followed the war further complicates the task. The interplay of regional
dynamics and the formation of a new government also demands a thorough exploration.
Constructing a coherent and well-argued essay requires the ability to synthesize a multitude of
sources, ranging from primary documents and firsthand accounts to scholarly analyses. The
challenge lies in presenting a balanced perspective, avoiding oversimplifications while
maintaining clarity for the reader.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the American Revolution necessitates a rigorous academic
approach, incorporating a deep understanding of historical nuances, a critical analysis of sources,
and the ability to articulate a compelling narrative. It is a task that demands both research acumen
and writing skill, but the insights gained from unraveling this critical period in history can be
immensely gratifying.

2. Bail Laws ( Nsw )
Bail laws (NSW)
Bail has always been part of the common law system. In NSW, they have based
their concept from the Statue of Westminster I (1275), where there are different
categories that separates who are to be bailed or refused bail, which had become part
of the Bail Act 1978 (NSW) and was enforced from March 1980. Bail Act 2013
(NSW) is the only other law that replaced Bail Act 1978 (NSW), but was amended
by Bail Amendment Act 2014 (NSW), which is the final replacement coming into full
effect in 28th January 2015.
In Section 4 of the Bail Act 1978, it states that authorisation to be at liberty under
this Act, instead of in custody . This is otherwise known as bail, the act of
permitting a person to a brief period of freedom who ... Show more content on

If the prosecution can provide sufficient reasoning of why bail cannot be granted, the
assumption of bail can be revoked.
Serious drug related offences can also disprove the presumption for bail and
(likewise towards aggressive offences) the accused must reason why bail should be
permitted.
Issue and effect on individuals and society
Prior to 28th January 2015, bail laws posed significant loopholes in the system and
are deemed to be ineffective to achieve justice. Accused offenders may get away
with bail based with evidence in the case if it does not seem to pose a threat to the
community. The problem persists within the conditions set for their bail, as
responsibility lies upon the magistrate or police to impose appropriate conditions.
However, though conditions do vary, it possesses a significant risk if the conditions
enforced were not strict enough, opening vulnerabilities for the accused to commit
another crime, slipping through their enforced conditions.
Yet not enough has been done to alert the community of this flaw, which thus
continued to believe that the criminal law system is protecting them. Effects are
potentially dangerous, as individuals would face the growing rate of criminal activity
and with limited policing resources, not everyone ensured to be protected in an
unsafe suburban environment. If this issue continued to remain unresolved in the
long term, it would slowly corrupt society values, with more individuals

4. Collectivism In Anthem To The Fountainhead, By Ayn Rand
Collectivism is a very common theme in Ayn Rand s writing. From Anthem to The
Fountainhead, her opinion is very clear: individualism is the source of freedom
and joy, while collectivism is the root of sorrow and slavery. In Anthem, the main
character, Equality 7 252, has grown up in a collectivist society that has remained
strong for centuries. In that society, no one has had the choice to do what they
want to do, love what (or who) they love, and simply be who they are. That society
praises the idea that men live only for each other. Living for oneself is evil, a
Transgression. The idea of I , Me , and Mine has disappeared, dragging the precious
words along with it. Throughout the plot, Equality 7 2521 is seen both
unintentionally and intentionally defying his society. At first, he condemns
himself, describing his evil acts and mind and labeling his different mindset as a
curse. We were born with a curse. It has always driven us to thoughts which are
forbidden. (Rand 18) He is also condemned by others, for things he cannot control.
He is taller than most other people, he has preferences for what he wishes to
become, and he has ideas and opinions. Yet when his life assignment is Street
Sweeper, he rejoices. He sees that as a way to pay penance for his sins. Later on,
however, he embraces his individuality. I am. I think. I will. (Rand 94) He is the first
to accept the idea of individuality for centuries, and helps others accept it, too. A
similar struggle is seen in The Fountainhead. The main character of that novel, .
Howard Roark, has to defend himself in court after dynamiting a government housing
project that he designed. An agreement was made that the project would be built
exactly as designed, but it wasn t, so Roark made a protest against collectivismby
destroying the project. He ends up in court. He then delivers a moving speech titled
The Soul of an Individualist . In it he proclaims his individualism, and denounces
collectivism as a parasitic system in which no one can achieve anything or truly
live. I came here to say that I do not recognize anyone s right to one minute of my
life. Nor to any part of my energy. Nor to any achievement of mine. No matter who
makes the claim, how large

Tjibaou Cultural Centre
In The architecture of happiness by Alain de Botton says, If our interest for buildings
and objects truly is being defined by how they appear to us and in which way they
perform their material existence, it would be praiseworthy to sedulously examine the
quaint process, according to which, the structures made from stone, steel, concrete,
wood and glass are able to communicate; yet in infrequent occasions they give the
impression of talking to us about important and emotive things. This statement give
by Alain de Bottom determines the meaning of what is considered to be good
architecture. Fortunately, this kind of examples can be seen more frequently
nowadays.
In the South Pacific Island of New Caledonia along the coast of Magenta s bay is

freedom against the French government. It is devoted to the origins of the culture and
searching for the identity of the native Kanak people of New Caledonia. The Cultural
Centre has a similar aspects of the villages, which Kanak tribe used to live in series of

alley along which huts are scattered. These exotic constructions give both ancient and

7. Understanding Stress During Puberty
In this experiment, the author s focused on understanding stress during puberty and
the sex specific differences of the effects on humans through rat models. As we go
through puberty, both male and females have increased levels of sex steroid
hormones. In females this causes levels of cortisol to increase, as well as the
probability of developing a mood disorder relating to stress. Past studies have shown
that this is because of the plasticity of the hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis (HPA)
axis and the areas of the brainthe regulate mood, such as the amygdala. They
supported their previous claim with an experiment that was done on rats where they
were subjected to stressful events, known as juvenile social subjugation (JSS), and...

Overall the Basolateral Nucleus of the Amgdala (BLA) was the primary location
for the expression of CRF1 binding and the MePV was the secondary location for
binding. CRF2 expression in the MePV was not as intense as that of the CRF1
receptor. The MePD had less expression of both types of CRF receptor and no
expression in the CeA. They found intense expression of CRF2 receptor in the
cortical nucleus of the amygdala and choroid plexus.
Each hemisphere of the brain had no significant difference in the binding of both
types of CRF receptors. Figure 2 shows that in the binding

Ray Lawler s play, The Summer of the Seventeenth Doll and the poem Eve to her
Daughters by Judith Wright are both primarily concerned with one idea: change.
Whilst Judith Wright uses her poem as an instrument to insight this change, Ray
Lawler uses his play as a critique of modern Australia s resistance to it. Both use
memorable voices associated with gender to make their arguments because the
stagnant philosophy which Australians lived by during the 1950s and 1960s was
inherently masculine in nature. In essence, both texts endeavour to change
9. The House Of The Seven Gables
The house of the Seven Gables, written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, is a gothic fiction
novel. The book is classified as a Romantic by Nathaniel Hawthorne, dark themes and
all.
The story begins with Matthew Maule, the first owner of the land, building a house
that is considered less than average compared to the land. A man, Colonel Pyncheon,
wants to take the land and build a house that would be deemed acceptable compared
with the beauty of the area around it. To the Colonel s frustration, Maule refuses to
give up the land. Maule s claim is held for the next following years, up until he is
accused of witchcraft. Rumors arose of Pyncheon being the one behind it, and as he
stood at the front of the crowd, Maule cursed him. (4) Right before his lynching, he
yells, God will give him blood to drink! The Colonel continues to watch the lynching
seemingly unaffected by the curse. Once the Colonel takes the land for himself, he
has Maules architect son build the house for him. Right when the building of the

10. Abolition And James Russell Lowell
Abolition and James Russell Lowell
The Declaration of Independence gave us the famous words: we hold these truths to
be self evident, that all men are created equal. James Russell Lowell was a staunch
believer that this famous phrase referred to all men, including slaves. Lowell held the
opinion that it was the inborn right of all men to be free and that God created all
human beings with the same natural rights. The poems The Present Crisis, On the
Capture of Fugitive Slaves Near Washington, and Ode Recited At the Harvard
Commemoration combined moral and religious beliefs and arguments to make a
political statement about the abolition of slavery.
The Present Crisis was written by James Russell Lowell in 1844 to the discuss the
crisis sweeping the nation at that time slavery. In this poem, Lowell explains some of
the justifications for the practice of slavery, which he considered to be utterly
incorrect. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By writing this poem, the author hopes to clearly state that all men are equal and
that slavery is an affront to God. Ultimately his goal is that those reading this poem
will be inspired to abolish slavery. He makes it clear that all people are equal in the
eyes of God, or in Lowell s words, God works for all (Lowell 82). Lowell believed
that America was no longer using morality as its guide, but instead was being
guided by poorly concealed self interest. According to a critic of Lowell s, He
believed that America had lost sight of the common good. Increasingly divided into
high and low, the populace seemed, to his mind, no longer willing to distinguish
individual self interest from civic virtue (Bell 131). As a result of the strong
sentiments the author displays in this poem, the reader might feel repulsed at those
who put themselves and what they perceive to be best for their country above

Baldwin swamp is an urban wetland, located in the heart of Bundaberg, providing
a habitat to a range of organisms. The environment is rich in biodiversity; with
more than 150 species of birds, variety of vegetation/plants as wells as creatures
and mammals ranging from tiny aquatic wrigglers to bats, which have recently
inhabited the area. Wetlands can be swamps, boys and or areas next to creeks. The
Baldwin swamp can be best described as a network of ponds/swamps that channels
into landscapes of grassland. This area has a significant ecological impact as the
relationships among the organisms in relation to their food webs is vital to their
survival. Abiotic factors such as humidity, soil, pollution, Ph levels, temperature,

No two people on earth are alike, and it s got to be that way in music or it isn t
music. This little known quote is from none other than Billie Holiday. These words
of hers serve accurately to show that she was aware that in order to thrive in the
music world, you had to be different. She was an African American female vocalist
beginning in the 1930 s. Holiday was not privileged, yet she still managed to make an
impact on the musicworld with her unique, almost rugged voice and meaningful
lyrics that caused her listeners to do a double take.
Billie Holiday was born on April 7, 1915 in Philadelphia. Her legal name, Elinore
Harris, was later replaced with several other names, but Billie Holiday (Bill), a

Time and drugs added an even more gravely tone to Holiday s voice, but her vocals
still come out in a beautiful and unique way. The beat behind Holiday s vocals is
no longer fast paced and upbeat. For the majority of the recording, all that is
played behind her voice is a piano, other than a few trumpet solos. The song lyrics
in Strange Fruit can be seen as being more artful than entertaining; this is certainly
not a song you would dance to. She graphically illustrates African American bodies
hanging from poplar trees (lynching) with phrases like, the bulging eyes and
twisted mouth, here is fruit for the crows to pluck, and the sudden smell of burning
flesh. As discussed previously, she leaves silences between phrases for the listener
to digest the scenario she is producing. Jazz critic Ralph suggests that she was a
sort of living lyric to the song Strange Fruit , hanging not on a poplar tree, but on
the limbs of life itself. (Gill, 2015). It is evident that she sang this song with
passion and soul. No longer did she have to play for swing bands in which she was
intended to show off. She gained the ability and reputation to sing what she felt
passionate about. She grew into a vocalist who made her own rules and had settled
into her very own style. Over a century has gone by since the birth of the legendary
jazz vocalist, Billie Holiday. Holiday faced never ending adversity on her journey,
but stopped at nothing to gain stardom. Her legacy inspires other artists to sing what
they are passionate about and never give up, even if society and fate want them to.
Music styles have changed but her influence and unique style have not been
13. Christina Georgina Rossetti s A Magical Story Of Two
Sisters
Conceiving a novel yet valid interpretation of a piece of writing is a dilemma that
has plagued English students for centuries. Fitting every detail of a literary work to
one theory is oftentimes complex and taxing, and occasionally there is no clear
answer, as is the case with Christina Georgina Rossetti s narrative poem Goblin
Market. Rossetti crafts a magical story of two sisters (Laura and Lizzie) who
overcome adversity together, but multiple feminist readings have failed to come up
with a compelling theory that explains the significance of the poem while
accounting for all of its details. The contradictions of the poem undo any attempt to
decode it, and the reader is forced to view the poem exactly as Rossetti wrote it: a
tale of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The allusion to Diana, the roman goddess of the moon and fertility, suggests that
as a consequence of Lizzie s loss of virginity, she starts to weaken. In addition, Lizzie
worries that Laura s fate will mirror that of Jeanie, a bride who fell sick and died in
her gay prime because her impatience for the pleasures of socially acceptable sex
during her marriage caused her to seek the goblins. All of this points towards a
singular idea women are responsible for keeping their lust in check, and such is the
recipe for a healthy life.
In contrast, another analysis of the poem might adopt the opposite stance, asserting
that the goblins coerce Laura and rape Lizzie. The girls are therefore absolved of
any responsibility for this mistreatment. This is equally plausible, but derived
primarily from imagery. The goblins, in this case, cr[y] for Pretty Polly and one
whistles like a bird, similar to a man cat calling a woman (114). They also demand
gold payment, perhaps symbolizing the virginity or purity of their victims.
Nevertheless, the best evidence for this theory stems from the goblins treatment of
Lizzie as she resists them; they h[o]ld her hands and squeeze their fruits/Against her
mouth to make her eat. The obviously violent sexual imagery implies abuse, and with
this interpretation, Rossetti is admonishing males who take advantage of innocent
females.
A third study of the poem and the most interesting could look at the poem as a

Hadoop cite{white2012hadoop} is an open source framework for distributed

stores data on nodes throughout a cluster, with a number of replicas. It provides an
extremely reliable, fault tolerant, consistent, efficient and cost effective way to store a
large amount of data. The MapReduce model consists of two key functions: Mapper

When a file is written in HDFS, it is divided into fixed size blocks. The client first
contacts the NameNode, which get the list of DataNode where actual data can be
stored. The data blocks are distributed across the Hadoop cluster. Figure
ref{fig.clusternode} shows the architecture of the Hadoop cluster node used for both
computation and storage. The MapReduce engine (running inside a Java virtual

requests are passed through the Hadoop textit{org.apache.hadoop.fs.FileSystem}

default HDFS. An HDFS client is then responsible for retrieving data from the
distributed file system by contacting a DataNode with the desired block. In the
common case, the DataNode is running on the same node, so no external network
traffic is necessary. The DataNode, also running inside a Java virtual machine,

16. Comparing Dostoevsky s Crime And Punishment
Quite possibly one of Dostoevsky s most popular and iconic works, Crime and
Punishment is easily read as a chilling crime thriller a drama concerning a young
man suffering the guilt and fear brought on by a brutal murder. Indeed, this is often
how the work is viewed, accompanied, perhaps, with an emphasis on religion, or
suffering, or love. Yet to read Crime and Punishmentin this manner would be to lose
a large portion of who Raskolnikov is, his motives, and how Dostoevsky wrote the
character. While it is possible to read Dostoevsky s Crime and Punishment as a simple
crime thriller with a religious theme, its is impossible to fully understand the story of
Raskolnikov, that being the murder, his confession, and his redemption, without

Even on the first page of Crime and Punishment, Raskolnikov demonstrates his
guilt. Indebted to his landlady, he fears meeting her, slinking from his apartment
out into a world that he views with all the charity of an impoverished misanthrope.
The question is: where did this guilt come from? The answer lies with his poverty.
In an attempt to rebel against his mother, to whom Raskolnikov is [her]
everything, all [her] wishes and all [her] hope (Dostoevsky 28), Raskolnikov
intentionally abandons his studies and refuses to work. Ironically, far from being
independent from his mother, little Rodia endes up accepting a portion of his
mother s pension to support himself. This dynamic between dependence and
independence accentuates his failure both to satisfy his mother and to be free of
his mother s expectations. In the words of Ilham Dilman, Professor Emeritus in the
Department of Philosophy at the University of Wales Swansea, he thus complies
with his mother s wishes and defies her at the same time; he accepts her offer of a
dependent relationship to spite her (Dilman 194). In Raskolnikov s mind, he can
never live up to the Rodia that his mother has conjured up. The end result is a
remarkably negative and stressful maternal relationship that is first and for most a
source of guilt. Raskolnikov dreads meeting his landlady partially because he owes
her money, but also because she reminds of his mother. She provides him with food
and shelter, but, because of his actions, he cannot satisfy her expectations (Breger 6).
Yet, Raskolnikov s landlady is not the only individual on whom raskolnikov projects
his guilt. Alyona Ivanova elicits similar feelings as Raskolnikov turns to her
unscrupulous and cut throat business for money. Alyona, however, lacks the maternal
care that Raskolnikov
17. Death In Hispanic American Culture
When an individual dies, their death can greatly impact the loved ones they leave
behind. Each mourner may feel and perceive the death differently from one another,
but one common factor that can influence the mourner s beliefs, values, and views
about a person s death is their culture. Their culture can regulate the way the mourner
copes with the deathof a loved one, what they do with the physical deceased body,
and how they may honor the dead afterwards (Cartaret, 2011). For me, my culture is
relatively related to the Catholic, Hispanic American culture, which is a broad and
subjective category, but it is what I believe that guides my views towards life and
death. I have additionally chosen to learn about the cultural practices of Hinduismof

Firstly, on the day a Hindu Indian dies, the dead Hindu is brought home or right
outside the home by friends and family members, and the dead is laid on a floor
covered in cow feces because cow feces are seen as a sacred purifying agent.
Secondly, one designated family member will sprinkle the dead body with water and
cover the body with new clothes. Thirdly, the dead body is placed on a rope bed and
carried by loved ones to the burial site. Yet, only the men are allowed to go to the
burial site, and the women stay home to mourn. Fourthly, crying is not allowed at
the burial site because it believed that the dead will accidentally take in the tears and
mucus from the mourners, and that can have corrupting effects on the dead. Fifthly,
the body will usually then be cremated, and while the body burns, the lead mourner
will smash the skull of the dead. Opening of the head will release the soul and allow
it to go to its new residence (Bregman, 2009). These are the main events that happen

18. A Monetary Shock Affect The Economy
Monetary policy is used by the Federal Reserve to achieve two goals, which are to
create maximum stable employment, and create stable prices which in turn causes
stable inflation. In the Fed Chairman game, it asks you to control and adjust the
federal interest rate. Adjusting the federal interest rate can cause more stable
employment and can help the economy become steady. When you are given this
control in the game you essentially are performing monetary policy. A monetary shock
can affect the economy by increasing and decreasing the money supply. A monetary
shock can affect the unemployment rate, and could cause the nation s economy to
weaken. This can also cause a major problem for interest rates. For example changes
in short term interest
19. The Theory Of Social Construction
A paradigm is a set of beliefs or assumptions that create the reality for a group. The
values, moras, and habits, all of which are socially constructed, create the reality for
the group. The theory of social construction is a theory that knowledge is constructed
by humans for human use. We communicate using rhetoric, allowing others to see
into those socially constructed ideas or paradigms. Rhetoric is the ability to
ascertain and analyze, in any given context, the available means of persuasion.
Persuasion is necessary to convince the audience of one s paradigms. The play,
Angels In America, by Tony Kushner, focuses on two relationships that interconnect
throughout the entire play. Kushner informs the reader of a typical dismal life of
someone with AIDS during the Reagan and Bush eras. During this desperate time,
self interest overtakes everything else, allowing the power dynamics to become
even more clear and powerful. This hierarchy is socially constructed, but sets the
reality for the unfortunate, marginalized lives of most of those contracted with
AIDS. Through the writing technique, ASAAP, I will establish the act, scene, agent,
agency, and purpose for each example. This fully explains each act literally and
figuratively, so one is able to fully comprehend the meaning behind each act.
Kushner displays the battle between liberals and conservatives, not only politically,
but also personally. It is simple to see the power dynamics in Act III, Scene II when

21. The Chrysler Group s Merger with Fiat
The Chrysler Group LLC initial public offering (IPO) was initiated by a trust
known as the United Auto Workers (UAW) Retiree Medical Benefits Trust to
cover medical benefits for retired workers who owned 41.5% of the company. The
trust was created in 2007 as a way of reducing Chrysler s financial liability of
paying existing workers and former employees health care costs and retirements.
Initially, the trust was not supposed to have a large share of its assets in the form of
stock, but with Chryslerrunning out of cash the following year, and falling into
bankruptcy in 2009, the only asset it could offer was its own stock.
Fiat and Chrysler formed a partnership in 2009, when Chrysler emerged from
Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States. Since then, it has gradually
increased its ownership, and combining its operations. Fiat owned 58.5% of
Chrysler, and prior to the IPO offer in September 2013, Fiat long wanted to acquire
the remaining stake from UAW, but the two sides could not reach an agreement
over what is a fair price. As a result, UAW decided to file for IPO, using a provision
of the bankruptcy agreement that allowed it to require registration for an IPO.
However, after further negotiations, the Italian company settled a $4.35 billion deal
to buy the remaining shares (41.5%) from UAW in early January 2014, avoiding a
planned IPO of the third biggest American carmaker . As a result of the buyout,
Chrysler became a wholly owned subsidiary of Fiat.
22. The Five Stages Of Grief Analysis
The loss of a loved one is one of the most distressing emotional experiences people
face, yet virtually everyone will deal with grief at some point (Howarth, 2009).
Elizabeth Kubler Ross has been credited for developing the five stages of grief:
denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance (2014). The key to
understanding these stages is not to think that someone must go through all the
stages, but rather use them as a guide for the grieving process. According to Zioosk,
and Shear, it is important to realize, that while each individual grief process is
unique, there is a form of grief that is disabling, interfering with function and quality
of life (2009). This paper will focus on how grief and bereavement can affect the
human body,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The intensity and duration of grief is highly variable. There are multiple factors
before considering someone may be developing a complicated grief, such as, the
person s age, health, spirituality, and cultural identity (Zioosk, Shear, 2009). Each of
these factors need to be delicately observed before constituting complicated grief.
Unfortunately, grief is not a topic of in depth discussion at most medical schools or
general medical or psychiatry residency training programs (Zioosk, Shear, 2009).
Psychiatrist today, fail to recognize complicated grief and instead will diagnose their
patients for having severe or chronic mental illness (Zioosk, Shear 2009). Psychiatrist
will prescribe pills such as fluoxetine, and nortriptyline to ease the mental illness they
consider a patient is feeling. Of course, sometimes we may need medication to help us
through, but pills are not necessarily the answer to every problem (Martin, Farris,
2013). When psychiatrist overlook complicated grief as normal in patients they are
putting their patient at risk of inattention or ineffective treatment resulting in suicide.
Studies have found that 50% of psychiatrists have lost at least one patient to suicide,
and many have lost more than one
23. Immigration Is A Current And Contemporary Issue
Immigration is a current and contemporary issue if only because of the vast
numbers of people if affects. 191 million people migrate worldwide each year, and
this number is growing as the ways of travelling worldwide become more advanced
and more accessible over time. It is a most topical issue, especially in areas such as
politics, media and education. Psychologyoffers an important view on this topic as
research in this area helps with the development of policies and with raising
awareness of this small but growing area of the population.
Paragraph 1 research on discrimination why does it occur
Richards (1997) Most racist beliefs derive from the idea that there is a biological
hierarchy between different social groups based on perceived racial differences.
This belief that there is a natural order reflected in race persisted and was promoted
in many scientific fields from 1850 1910, during which slavery, imperialism and
colonialism created the ideal breeding ground for these beliefs. Richards (1997)
history of racism in psychology shows that the failure to scientifically prove racist
theories lead to psychologist beginning to see racism for what it really is a
phenomenon to be recognised as a problem within society.
Devine (1989) Stereotypes are learned early in life and are automatically activated,
whereas prejudices are learned later in life, and can be either consistent, or
inconsistent with these stereotypes. Devine argues that the fact that negative
24. Persuasive Essay On Racism In Schools
Most people seem to think that racism in schools died years ago. This thought
could not be more wrong. Racism can be seen in schools now more than it ever has
been and it needs to be stopped because it affects the way students learn and their
success. The world is full of stories and incidents that have occurred involving
discrimination and the effects they have on students. This inequality and
unnecessary act called racism within many school systems can be dated back to
1896 to the Plessy V. Ferguson case which resulted in separate facilities for
education and an equal education (Campbell). This case is what provided us with
the term separate but equal , this meant that white and black children had to attend
separate schools but would supposedly get an equal education. Another case
addressing racism in education is the Cumming V. Richmond case in 1899. This
case involved three black families who petitioned the court to allow their children
to finish their high school education at a white high school, due to the closing of
the local black high school which would integrate African Americans and whites
under one facility (Campbell). Racial segregation and its unfairness even
continued into the 1950 s with the Sweatt V. Painter case involving an African
American, Homas Sweatt, who was being denied access to the University of Texas
Law School because he was black (Campbell). All of this unfair treatment of
separate but equal education continued until 1954 when one of the most popular
and familiar cases to all of us occurred, Brown V. Board of Education . In this case
a young girl from Kansas had to walk 21 blocks to the closet black only school
when a 2 White only school was only seven blocks away (Campbell). The court
ruled in Brown s favor and declared an end to racially segregated schools due to the
unequal education (Campbell). With the Brown V. Board of Education case
everyone believed that we as a country had reached a new level of educational
equality. However, in today s world prejudice, oppression and ignorance still exists
all around us. Prejudice, or holding back knowledge against others who differ from
ourselves, plagues our nation and educational systems. As we look

Imperialism is the forceful extension of a nation s authority by territorial conquest or
by establishing economic and political domination of other nations that are not its

prehistorical world (before written history began), clan groups extended their territory
and dominated others, competing against them for food and resources. Negatively,
many cultures have suffered due to imperial domination since the dominant have
often regarded themselves as superior and have neglected, or even deliberately

Socialism, as envisioned by Marx and Engels was, ideally, a where everyone would
share the benefits of industrialization. Workers would do better than in the English
system at the time (The Communist Manifesto was published in 1848) because
there were more workers than bosses and the majority would rule. As a purely
economic system, socialism is a lousy way to run a large scale economy. Socialism
is not a political system, it s a way of distributing goods and services. At their ideal
implementation, socialism and laissez faire capitalism will be identical as everyone
will produce exactly what s needed for exactly who needs it. In practice, both work
sometimes in microeconomic conditions but fail miserably when applied to national
and international economies. And they fail for the same reason: Human pervserity.
Too many people don t like to play fair, and both systems only work when everyone
follow the same rules.
Socialism is liberal. More people (preferably everyone) have some say in how the
economy works. Democracy is liberal. More people (preferably everyone) have
some say in how the government works. Democracy, said Marx, is the road to
socialism. He was wrong about how economics and politics interact, but he did see
their similar underpinnings.

27. Strategic Management Of Dish Network Essay
Strategic management in DISH Network is one of the most critical aspects of
management. Effective strategic management could be the difference of DISH
Network is successful or a failing organization. The successful implementation of
the strategic management plan in a large corporation like Dish is highly reliant on
measurement and evaluation efforts during and after the implementation phase.
Strategic implementation is the process that puts plans and strategies into action
to reach goals. A strategic plan is a written document that lays out the plans of the
business to reach goals, and is put into action with strategic implementation.
Strategic implementation makes the company s plans happen. Strategic
implementation is critical to a company s success, addressing the who, where,
when, and how of reaching the desired goals and objectives (Lorette, 2016). By
analyzing and identifying strategies from DISH over the past couple years that did
not work out so well versus strategies that were successful to build my case. I will
evaluate barriers might have gotten in the way of any less successful strategies,
and what type of strategic evaluation efforts do you think are necessary to keep an
eye on progress in a large company like Dish. I will explain how measurement of
implementation process help assures DISH s success, and the evaluation process
helps to assure future success to the company. DISH Network was founded in 1980
by Charles Ergen, Cantey Ergen and James DeFranco.

According to the book Top down network design by Priscilla, and research by
Pandya supports that a network is a group of devices connected together. There are
many types of computer networks like, local area network (LAN), wide area
network (WAN), campus area network (CAN), home area network (HAN),
metropolitan area network (MAN). Topology is the geometric arrangement of the
computer system. The common topologies are bus, star, ring, mesh etc. Network
topology refers to the physical or logical layout of a network. It defines the way
different nodes are placed and interconnected with each other. Network topology
describes how the data is transferred between these nodes. There are two types of
network topologies: physical and logical. Physical topology emphasizes the physical
layout of the connected devices and nodes, while the logical topology focuses on the
pattern of data transfer between network nodes. This paper investigates how different
types of topologies work, its advantages and disadvantages.
Keywords: Hierarchical network topology, bus, ring, mesh, tree and star topologies.

32. Analysis Of Marigolds By Eugenia Collier
The transformation from an innocent girl to a grown woman could be extremely
tremendous. In the short story, Marigolds, by Eugenia Collier, shows how much
Lizabeth has mature. As she is maturing, she is starting to have the realization of the
real world and the meaning of compassion. At the time, the Great Depressionoccur
and the marketing crash. The Great Depression affected families and the world itself.
Based on the short story, Marigolds by Eugenia Collier, shows that one cannot have
both compassion and innocence at once from the character development of
Lizabeth. Realizing what you have done, but not knowing what exactly. Children
could do the cruelest things, and not realize the harm that they re putting others in.
In the short story, Lizabeth isn t thinking before her actions that actually is causing
damage for Miss Lottie. Joey and Lizabeth is near MIss Lottie s home, but then
Zing Joey sent a pebble into the blossoms, and another marigold was beheaded
(Collier, pg. 27). Lizabeth is clueless to her surrounding of the world that she was
living in causing her to make terrible decision that was actually causing harm for
others. Even though, Lizabeth thought it was all for fun and a joke, Miss Lottie
did not think it was, making Lizabeth feel ashamed. She is feeling guilty of what
she has down and starting to realize her mistakes. Innocence is one thing, but
maturity is another that you go through. In the short story, Lizabeth was starting to
have the realization of her surrounding. She noticed Miss Lottie and called her out,
M miss Lottie! I scrambled to my feel and just stood there and stared at her, and
that was the moment when childhood faded and womanhood began (Collier, pg.
30). Lizabeth notice the sad face; weary eyes of Miss Lottie. Se realize that the
witch isn t a witch, but is an old lady that is trying to make the best of the current
situation of the world. As she stare at Miss Lottie s face, she realize of how much
regret she has and began to mature into this grown woman. A girl with innocence
mature into this grown woman has changed her whole realization of the world that
she is living.

drastically reduce their weight in a short period of time through a variety of
methods. The deaths of these three collegiate wrestlers resulted in a hasty decision
from the NCAA in an attempt to prevent any more injuries or deaths. An article by
Terry Larimer on The Morning Call explains the that policy banned the use of rubber
suits and saunas for use in weight cutting practices because they drastically increase
body temperature and dehydration, which was the root cause for the deaths of these
three wrestlers (Larimer). Larimer also explains changes the NCAA made to the
weight classes, adding a seven pound weight allowance to all of the weight classes
so that athletes would not have to lose as much weight, with the stipulation that all
weigh in times for competitions would be held 2 hours prior to the event rather than
24 hours (Larimer). This rule was enacted to discourage athletes from cutting weight

My current field placement as a social work intern is at the Family Assessment
Program (FAP). FAP is a voluntary program that aims to strengthen families and
help them stay together. FAP seeks to reduce youth s future involvement with the
juvenile justice and the child welfare system. The clienteles that FAP deals with,
are parents who are having difficulties with their teenage children and want
assistance and guidance with changing the children s behavior and developing a
positive relationship. In addition, FAP is the last step before parent files for a
Person In Need of Supervision (PINS). FAP would assess the family situation by
interviewing parents and children individually and together, they determine the best
suitable intervention for the family. If the intervention does not solve the issue or
the child refuses to participate, then the alternative is to file a PINS to control the
child s behavior. Engaging with some families, I was able to apply four concepts;
empathy, boundaries, social taboo and focused listening. In applying these concepts,
I was able to identify my obstacles, weaknesses, strengths and develop my social work
skills. The following scenarios will focus on my strategies with applying the
concepts, the obstacles I encountered and ways in which I could have improved the
concepts. Through self reflection, I was able to select four cases where I was able to
apply the above mentioned concepts.

Causes Infants start out with bowlegs because of their folded position while in
their mother s womb. The legs begin to straighten once the child starts to walk
when they about 12 to 18 months. By age 3, the child becomes knock kneed.
When the child stands, the knees touch but the ankles are apart. By puberty, the
legs straighten out and most children can stand with the knees and ankles touching
without forcing the position. Knock knees can also develop as a result of a
medical problem or disease, for example: Injury of the shinbone which mean only
one leg will be knock kneed, Osteomyelitis which is a bone infection, Overweight,
and Rickets is a disease caused by a lack of vitamin D.
Symptoms
Bowed legs are most evident when a child stands and walks. The most common
symptom of knock kneed is an awkward walking pattern. Toddlers with knock kneed
usually have normal coordination, and are not delayed in learning how to walk. The
amount of bowing can be significant, however, can be quite alarming to parents and

38. Critique Of Piano Critique
For my piano critique, I went to see Sean Cavanaugh with accompaniment of
Dominic Muzzi, play Ludwig van Beethoven s Concerto No. 1 in C Major, Op. 15.
This recital was performed on campus, in Recital Hall November 6, 2017 at 8:30pm.
Both Cavanaugh and Muzzi performed their portion of the piece on the piano.
Cavanaugh was the lead pianist, so he had the piano closer to the audience while
Muzzi was farther back. Something that I found interesting, was that Muzzi was
dressed in all dark colors, while Cavanaugh wore a white collared shirt. This choice
in outfit definitely drew the audience s attention to Cavanaugh as the lead pianist,
while helping Muzzi blend into the background. This denotation of Cavanaugh as the
lead was continued in the bows, where Cavanaugh would always stand partially in
front of Muzzi.
Both pianist performed very well together. I noticed that they would give each other
nonverbal cues like nods or glances to indicate when they were finishing their part or
when the other should respond. This communication served really well, as both
pianists complimented each other and timed their playing near perfectly.
Cavanaugh was very animated while playing. His head would bob with the music
and during the dramatic low notes of the music, sometimes he would play those with
his whole body, coming up slightly off the chair to add to the force of the sound.
Muzzi would also bob his head along to the music, but not nearly as energetically as
Cavanaugh did.

Grotesque Characters When talking about the grotesque uncertainty and confusion is
often common because when someone or something is grotesque it is out of the
norm we don t usually see or hear about it. In Gogol s The Nose the grotesque is
present throughout the whole story and especially with the two main characters Ivan
Yakovlevich and Collegiate Assessor Kovalyov. A reader of this story will notice the
similarities and the differences that these two characters share. This response to The
Nosewill compare and contrast the two main characters and show how they are
grotesque. The title of this story alone should tell the reader that this is most likely
about a nose or something pertaining to that particular body part which is different.
The title alone can make the reader ask questions before they even start to read the
story. As one may read and find out that the story is about a nose and how Collegiate
Assessor Kovalyov (also referred to as major) loses his nose. As Ivan Yakovlevich is
sitting down to eat a roll he feels something in the roll. He pokes two fingers in and
pulled out a nose! (Gogol 113). Ivan freaks out as any normal person would do and
decides to get rid of the evidence and drops it off a bridge. The major on the other
hand wakes up one morning to find he has lost his nose and has no idea where it is.
He later finds his nose acting as a person who has a rank that is three higher than
his. The major even tries to talk his own nose and holds a

42. American Mafia Essay
The American mafia arose through the Italians coming to America. The American
Mafia, started as an Italian American organized crime network. The mafia operated
through many cities across the United States. Since immigrants mainly came through
New York, Italian American gangs rose to power through its success in the 1920s
Prohibition era (the period from 1920 to 1933 when the sale of alcoholic beverages
was prohibited in the United Statesby a constitutional amendment,
www.thefreedictionary.com). History.com states that During the late 19th century
and early 20th century, waves of Italians, mostly farmers, craftsmen and unskilled
laborers, flocked to America in search of better economic opportunities. This quote

History.com staff stated that by 1910, that number jumped to 500,000 immigrants
and first generation Italian Americans, becoming one tenth of the city s population.
Many of these immigrants were law abiding citizens, but in the large group of
immigrants came criminals that began to form neighborhood gangs that would
terrorize those in the community. Some of these criminals were mafia members in
Italy that had escaped to the U.S. These mafia members later got into bootlegging
(make, distribute or sell something illegally) and became the American mafia . The
history.com staff also stated that the Italian and American mafia was separate but
some American gangs adapted the traditions of the Italians . Even though they were
different, the American mafia started as a part of the Italians. The early mafia groups
in the U.S. started off in New York, then growing into neighborhood operations to
citywide and international activities. The American mafia entered the bootleg
business, selling and distributing liquor throughout cities and transformed themselves
into a sophisticated criminal enterprise, where they became very skilled at
smuggling, money laundering (the concealment of the origins of illegally obtained
money, typically by means of transfers involving foreign banks or legitimate
businesses) and bribing police
43. Mental Disorders In The Media
This learner believes that the media displays violence and mental disorders in a
negative manner that desensitize it to the public s viewpoint. Many individuals view
mental disorder in a negative way, because of what is presented in the media. Many
people have false reviews, because of the movies, news, and televisionshows that
give false details about mental disorders. The media displays people with mental
disorders in a manner that seems as though they are crazy, dangerous, and even
incompetent. However, many individuals with the disorder do not commit crimes or
even become violent to other despite what is displayed in the media. This is mainly,
because of the medical treatment provided and because of the research that helps

Proliferation of Social Flaws in World of Warcraft
World of Warcraft is the one of the most popular MMOG in the world, produced by
Blizzard entertainment. It has over 11 million players around the world 2.5
million of them in the US. The game is one of the most dominant games in the
global market today, which is available in 7 languages and played in all continents,
North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia, including South Korea, China,
Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau. Despite many scholars believe that the virtual
worlds are always in some basic way the expression of utopian desire (Monson).
WoW is far from a perfect world. In addition to the ethnic discrimination I ve read
about in the reading this semester by Lisa Nakamura, I also realized it involves
extreme stereotypes.
The WoW is set in a high fantasy world where players are able to select race based
avatars races (orcs and dwarves) and classes (mage, warrior, priest). They are under
the imaginary world of Azeroth where they find themselves in the midst of an
ongoing battle between two warring factions, the Alliance and the Horde. Players kill
monsters and complete quests in order to gain experience and gears . They can also
learn professions such as cooking, fishing, and blacksmithing, which enable them to
craft items like real world human beings (Mccreery). While this might seem to be
like Plato s Republic, in fact, it still involves extreme stereotypes, due to its euro
centrism and embedded

4.1. Overview of the tradable green certificates system
The support system for renewable energy in Romania, i.e. quota system with
tradable green certificates, was launched in 2004 in order to achieve two goals: to
reduce the prices for consumers and to protect the generators of renewable
electricity. Wind energy, solar energy, biomass, micro hydro and geothermal energy
are all sources of energy that can be supported by this system [68].
The trading of green certificates is ensured by OPCOM (green certificates market
operator) who establishes the prices on the centralized market of green certificates.
The green certificates are sold on the green certificates market, independently from
electricity sold on the electricity market. The green ... Show more content on

Renewable electricity producers operate both on the electricity market (as producers
of electricity), and on the green certificates market (as owners of green certificates).
If they do not fulfill the annual mandatory quota, then they have to pay a penalty
equal to the value of the green certificates not purchased. The payment is made to
Transelectrica S.A., who is the power grid company.
The evolutions of the Romanian economy and energy sector, as well as the
international trends have induced the necessity of updating the strategies, policies,
plans and programs previously developed. The Romanian Energy Strategy for the
period 2007 2020 updated for the period 2011 2020 states as the overall objective of
the energy sector to meet the energy needs both now and in the medium and long
term, at the lowest possible price, suitable for a modern economy, and a decent
standard of living, in terms of quality and energy security, respecting the principles of
sustainable development [61]. Having in mind the role of energy in society and in all
economic sectors, the development of this sector is made under the supervision of
the state, through the development and the implementation of the sector strategy.
For the promotion of renewable energy sources the strategy envisages the following
measures [61]:
Development of the use of renewable energy sources for electricity and heat
production through
47. Descartes Substance Dualism Essay
Introduction
Descartes is an early proponents of substance dualism, the view that there are two
substances, an immaterial mind and a material body. One common objection raised
against his view is the mind body problem which raises the question of how the two
different substances can possibly causally interact on substance dualism. In this essay,
I will put forth two of Descartes replies to the problem and argue that they are
successful. I will then consider one objection based on the law of conservation of
energy and give a reply.
Mind body Problem
For a substance dualist, the immaterial mind and the material body are two very
different substances. Descartes thought he had a clear and distinct idea of himself as a
mind, a thinking substance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Descartes replies Gassendi as such: At no place do you produce objections to my
arguments; you merely put forward doubts that you think follow from my
conclusions, though in fact they merely arise from your desire to call in the
imagination to examine matters which are not within its proper province. Thus when
you try to compare the intermingling of mind and body with the intermingling of two
bodies, it is enough for me to reply that we should not set up any comparison between
such things, because they are quite different in kind.
His reply points out that (1) cannot be proven. Those who affirm (1) do so
mistakenly because they are thinking about physical causation and applying such a
concept of causation to the mind and body which is another domain. To use an
example, suppose someone watched a billiard ball hit another ball which causes it to
roll away. He then concludes that causation only works when two objects come into
physical contact with one another visibly. Hence he rejects concepts such as gravity
and magnetism. Obviously this is a categorical mistake to expect them to work in the
same way. Likewise, anyone who holds to (1) must show that mind body causation
cannot work without appealing to physical causation, since the mind is not physical
in the first

Family guy is one of the most famous adult TV animation at the moment. The show
is based on an American Family living in Rhode Island. The father of the family is
called Peter Griffin and the mother is called Lois. The parents have two teenage
kids, namely Chris and Meg. They also have a dog named Brian. The dog is
particularly smart. The family has also adopted a mutant baby called Stewie who is
always trying to get rid of his parents and the children. However, Family guy is by far
the worst TV show to ever hit our screens if evaluated in terms of the quality of
picture/animation, its lack of content that can build a person and its constant use of

Family Guy has been marked as racist in its delivery. The examples for this are
endless. Each of the over 2000 Family Guy episodes has some kind of racial joke.
An example is an episode featuring Brian on a date with an African American
woman. The date is filled with racist jokes right from the moment they met. Brian
starts by commenting on the color of her skin saying it s a very lovely color. When
the woman introduces herself as Mrs. Parks, Brian comments, like Rosa Parks. On
top of that, during the date, Brian says he loves all black people and if he could
take all the black people in the world, he would buy a farm and let them all just run
free (YouTube). Another example features a bar scene with a horse and an African
American man mocking each other. The horse asks rhetorically why there are very
few African American baseball players. He continues to state that is because they
are always stealing bases. Moreover, one week prior to Martin Luther King Day,
the show did a skit showing Martin as a lazy and ignorant janitor who loves to eat
fried chicken and watermelons. He then talks to his boss in an awkward old age
black accent. (Gildemeister). African American people are not the only target of their
racism. The show also does racist and stereotype jokes on Asians, Vietnamese,
Africans, Mexicans, Canadians, and Indians among others. An example is a quote by
Peter Griffin where he
49. Joseph Lister s Contributions to Medical Science Essay
Imagine for one moment that you are living in the 1800 s and are in need of
medical help. During this time surgeons were known for the treating of wounds,
amputations, and treatment of broken bone. Picture yourself lying on a dirty cot,
or soiled table waiting for the surgeon to come in. When he finally enters he is
wearing a bloody, dirty apron and informs you that the only option is to remove
your limb. He calls in for help in holding you down and picks up a stained saw and
prepares to remove your leg. Your mind flashes back to the numerous people who
came before you and died shortly after having this procedure done. Will you die
during the operation or like so many others survive only to succumb to fever and
gangrene and die after?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was during his time in Edinburg that he began to see how keeping the work area
clean helped in keeping down infection although he could not fully explain why this
was the case. In the beginning it was believed that infections were caused by a
chemical reaction when air touched the wounds. After further studying the work of
Louis Pasteur and performing experiments of his own; he discovered that bacteria
was introduced into a wound when the skin was broken and when the patient spent
extended time in the hospital following surgery. Lister spent the next five years
conducting his own research on the matter. He heard about the use of Carbolic
acid in the sewage systems to kill odor and got the idea to try it on a surgery. He
first tried it on an eleven year old boy suffering from a compound fracture of his
leg. Lister applied the carbolic acid to the wound and then covered it in lint soaked
in the acid as well. When he checked on the wound a few days after surgery there
was no sign of swelling or foul odor. Lister redressed the wound this time using a
diluted form of the carbolic acid and six weeks later the little boy walked out of the
hospital suffering no ill effects. Following the success of this surgery Lister went on
to perform several other surgeries that were deemed too risky due to the threat of
infection. He even performed surgery on a patient with a fractured knee cap and also
on a patient

Managing the Pharmacy Inventory
Efficient Inventory Management (EIM) is essential to the profitability of your
pharmacy. Don t let profit sit on your shelves or expensive brand name drugs go out

merchandise that is available for sale to present and future clientele. Adequate

They include such costs as obsolescence (outdates), deterioration, storage, inventory
taxes, and insurance. The problem with high carrying costs is the lost opportunity
to use the capital invested in inventory elsewhere. The opportunity cost of any
investment is equal to the amount that could have been made by investing in the
next best alternative of comparable risk. Carrying costs are usually expressed as a
percentage of average inventory value. Most sources estimate annual carrying costs
to be between 20% and 30%. So, for a pharmacy with an inventory valued at SR
225,000 inventory carrying costs would amount to SR 45,000 to 67,500 per year.
Procurement costs (ordering costs) are costs associated with actually ordering and
receiving goods. They include the costs of placing the order, receiving goods, and
processing payment.
Tip improved procurement/ordering technology and next day deliveries should limit
the size of orders and keep carrying costs down
This Out of Stock (TOS) costs are the costs associated with being out of an item a
customer needs or wants. The size of TOS costs are difficult to estimate. At minimum
they represent the embarrassment and frustration of explaining to a customer or
prescriber that the pharmacy is out of what is needed. At maximum they represent
the cost of losing all of a customer s future purchases or, in the case of life saving
emergency drugs, causing physical

However, people just need to find out how to live comfortably with other of different

and the discrimination between races takes an amount of time. Nevertheless, people
nowadays are opening a new chapter of life. In reality, people all over the world
now do not think about the painful past, the war or whatsoever anymore; instead,

For example, the trading door between two countries had opened widely. In a short
word, in the essay Wride defined the 1.5 generation and explained the reasons for why
young Vietnamese immigration are not looking at the past anymore. According to the
essay, author defined young Vietnamese who now are living in the United Statesas
1.5 generation. The term is talking about young Vietnamese people who were
originally born in Vietnam but they grown up in America. And because these people
grew up in America, this group of people tends to have a little bit difference in the
way of thinking or to no longer look at the past to decide what to do for the future.
In the essay Wride wrote: Generally, they have not inherited their parents hatred of
Communism or qualms about trading with a former enemy. 1.5 generation is
carefree about what happened to their parents, to their ancestry, relatives and their
people. Through several of 1.5 generation group s interviews, they are certain don t

hatred toward Vietnam couldn t get to any place closer and be comparable to that of
his parents toward the Vietnam government. As Tran said, I might not be able to
remember the persecution they had to go through, and the corruption, the hardship

have. You will have to be able to calm people down in high stress situations or just
be able to talk to someone from another country. An FBI agent needs to have an
absolute understanding of their job duty, they are required to have a certain level
of education, and they will need to acquire some useful skills to help them out. A
day on the job as an FBI agent could be very stressful. They have a constant amount
