Essay Personal Perseverance in the Works of Maya Angelou
Personal Perseverance in the Works of Maya Angelou
Internationally respected brilliant poet, historian, and author Maya Angelou says in all my work I
try to tell the human truth what it is like to be human...what makes us stumble and fumbleand fall
and somehow miraculously rise and go on from the darkness and into the light (Ebony 96). This
theme is consistently exemplified throughout Angelou s greatly acclaimed autobiographical
worksand poems such as I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, Gather Together in my Name, Still I
Rise and Phenomenal Women. All of these books depict the true life stories of Ms. MayaAngelou s
tragedies, and there dreadful conditions she had encountered in her youth. But in all of Angelou s
novels and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout Angelou s autobiography she consistently returns to the subject of her calamitous
rape the racial hatred that left Angelou in a horrible emotional state, and, as well, left her feeling
helpless and trapped , not understanding who she really was. Angelou s will to never stay a
prisoner, to never stay quit and to fly away from that horrible life is also expressed in I Know Why
the Caged Bird Sings, where she writes the bird that stalks down the narrow cage can
seldomthrough his bars of rage his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to
sing (86).
In 1937 Angelou stopped talking and became mute following her rape.Instead she became an
observer of everything around her, including the racial divisions of her town. Angelou s knapsack
of misery is illustrated in this book as well as the pain of her self discovery, and, most of al, the
book depicts the love and joy of being and understanding of who she was and is: a strong, black,
beautiful women.
Maya Angelou s poems, collected in volumes such as Still I Rise and Phenomenal Women have
received great critical acclaim. These poems briefly summarize the hardship Angelou has
encountered. But once again she leaves the reader spellbound with her unwillingness to stay down
and her overwhelming strenth. Angelou write in the poem Still I Rise:
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in

How Did Home Influence Roman Culture
Wealthy romans lived in large houses that were beautifully constructed. The floors were covered
with mosaics, stone or marble. The walls were lined with marble slabs or were frescoed. The
ceilings were bare, exposing beams, but in finer houses they were covered with ivory, gold or were
frescoed. The layout and design of Roman houses reflected the Roman culture. There were many
rooms in these roman homes. The names of the rooms are: triclinium, ala, cubiculum, vesibulum,
exedra, taberna, peristylium, culina, atrium, and the tabilum. Each one of the rooms had a specific
purpose. Romans would enter the villa through the vestibulum, which was a long, narrow hallway
that led to the atrium. The atrium was a very large airy room, lighted by and opening... Show more

might be working in the culina to prepare food, walking children to school, cleaning the villa,
washing clothing, etc. There were many cubiculum throughout the household Roman slaves would
normally sleep in smaller, darker rooms. Roman men were the masters of the family and the home.
They would greet their patrons in the atrium where their daily work routine began. Wealthy Roman
men would work which might include, writing letters, seeing patrons and or going to the forum to
meet other businessmen. The forum was normally right outside of wealthy Roman houses. While
poorer men would become shopkeepers, farmers or craftsmen and their homes were located further

from their wives. He would greet his family in the atrium and then go to the triclinium for a meal.
Women were expected to stay at home every day. They were expected to complete their chores

work and their day. Women who had wealthy husbands would sometimes spend an entire day
planning a dinner party, which would take place when her husband returns home. Poorer Roman

A Vindication Of The Rights Of Woman
To some, the word feminism is intimidating; the image of angry, resentful, spiteful women with an
agenda to bring down the opposite sex might come to mind when discussing the topic. However,
this image is an inaccurate display of what feminism truly is. The true meaning of feminism is a
movement towards equality between women and men; there is no tearing down of the opposite
sex, there is no goal for women to be seen as greater than men, there is no hidden agenda the goal is
simply equality. In Mary Wollstonecraft s essay A Vindication of the Rights of Woman, she argues
the feminist message that women should have access to the same education that men have been
granted. While women and men have been given the same educational opportunities today, there are
points Wollstonecraft addresses in her essay that still hold true to be issues in modern society;
among these issues are beauty standards, sexuality, and genderroles. In our society, women are
constantly scrutinized on their appearance. Too fat. Too thin. Not enough makeup. Too much
makeup. Skin is too pale. Skin is too dark. Lips are too small and nose is too big. She looked
better before she had work done. Clothes are too revealing. Show more skin. These are the type of
things that women hear everyday; there is always pressure to maintain an appearance that is
beautiful. Women face this pressure and scrutiny beginning in childhood, so the feelings of having
to maintain standards of beauty become ingrained in

Arnold Schoenberg s Drei Klavierstucke
Arnold Schoenberg s Drei KlavierstГјcke, Opus 11 (Three Piano Pieces) represent his first fully
atonal work, which would become the basis for moving forward in his later atonal and serial works.
Schoenberg believed that music history naturally pushed forward and that tonality could not
contain music forever. He believed atonalitywas the next step and Schoenberg admitted, The most
decisive steps forward occurred in the Two Songs, Op. 14, and in the Three Piano Pieces, Op. 11.
However, small traces of tonalityand Romanticism remain, as the small thematic units of the work
have shown connections to that of Brahms and Liszt, especially in the opening of the first piece.
Numerous theorists have tried to place these three short pieces into various tonal centers for
analysis, trying to argue that it is not atonal. Attempts have been made to analyze the pieces in E
major and minor, as well as phyrygian mode, with no luck on forming an agreement to place this
work into the world of tonality. The first two pieces of Drei KlavierstГјcke were composed in
February 1909 in Vienna, while the third came later in August and a revision in 1924. Schoenberg
published the work with the Universal Edition in Vienna in 1910, revised in 1925. A typical
performance lasts roughly 14 minutes. The world premiere of the work was given by Etta
Werndorff in Vienna s Ehrbar Saal on January 14th, 1910. Schoenberg wrote these pieces in his new
outburst of expressionist musicin 1909, along

The Homelessness And The Problem Of Homelessness In Hawaii
Hawaii is know as paradise, but as soon as you leave the airport you start to realize something. If
you are a tourist visiting Hawaii. Once you start to drive around Oahu, you will notice homeless
people or trash all around the island. Homelessness in Hawaii is a problem everyone can agree on.
As I chose to write about homelessness, I am not picking on the homeless. Writing about the
homeless issue in Hawaiidoesn t only have an impact on our community but it also includes other
states.
Being born and raised here on Oahu, I have not only realized that Hawaii is not the old Hawaii. I
have realized our homeless community has been growing rapidly. Ever since I was ten I have fell
in love with surfing. While going to school everyday is sometimes stressful. I like to go surfing
either after class or before class starts. With Waikiki being my one of my favorite spots to surf. If
we all don t know already, we know Waikiki has terrible parking. When I go down to Waikiki I like
to park at the zoo. After I grab my surf board, I leave everything in my car because I clip my car
key to my bathing suit and walk down to the beach. As the years go by the homeless population
in Hawaii starts to grow. Each time I walk down Waikiki I have noticed more homeless people
sleeping along Waikiki Ave. Lately I have been scared to walk down Waikiki Ave alone. At least
every time I go surfing homeless people have tried to approach me.
The solution to all of this we may not have in the near

President George Bush Essay
George W. Bush was born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 6, 1946. Just like other presidents,
he had his good times and his bad times. He was the forty third president of The United States.
Because of those who had preceded him in The Oval Office, he understood the importance of
being the Commander in Chief. In all of the events that happened during his presidency he never
gave up on his country (Biography; Gale: Vol 21). The Bush family moved to Texas when
George was only two years old. George Herbert Walker Bush, George s father, had just graduated
from Yale and wanted to attempt a living in the oil business. The family moved to a rough part of
Texas called Odessa, and though times were not always easy , it eventually became a... Show more

He became the president of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity and enjoyed drinking, playing
football, and dating. His grades were not his main priority (Biography; Gale: Vol. 21). Bush
admired his history professor Thomas T. Lyons at Yale. This admiration led George to major in
history. George had very little intellectual curiosity and was not interested in politics. However,
some of his classmates believe that being a stickball commissioner and the head cheerleader
were pre political experiences. While he was a well known figure, there were many times he
faced conflicts at school for being a male cheerleader, and some agree that this prepared him for
the world of politics. Bush himself claims that his student activities qualified him for the White
House. After he attended Andover, he persistently demonstrated the same leadership: not a
powerful intellect or dazzling policy but rather an exceptional ability to make friends, work a
crowd, cheer people up and take them all in his direction (The New York Times Company). When
he was the governor of Texas, he worked with both Democrats and Republicans, and built
successful coalitions which led him to become a popular leader without becoming engaged in
policy details (The New York Times Company). George Bush, the forty first president, was
surprised to see his first born son become interested in politics,

How Does Jason Trust Medea
Trust
Did you know that 100% of people who choose to not trust enchantresses when they are willing to
help are defenestrated and die excruciatingly painful deaths within a week of that senseless
decision?
In the Greek Myth Jason and the Golden Fleece , Jason, a brave, honest young man, must obtain
the Golden Fleece to secure the kingdom, which is rightfully his. Now, Jason is so close to
gaining the beautiful pelage, but another obstacle looms like Mount Olympus before him: the
current owner of the Golden Fleece has inevitably refused to just give his most precious position
away. However, as Jason walked dejectedly away from the palace, the king s cunning daughter,
Medea, offered her assistance. But, there is one problem, Medea is an enchantress who bounces
between good and evil as often as humans breathe; she could switch sides in the blink of an eye.
Everyone agrees Medea is powerful, but some say that Jason should trust Medea, while others say
Jason should not trust Medea. Jason should trust Medea for these three reasons: Jason does not
desire to turn Medea against him, Medea is an enchantress, and Jason needs all the help he can get.
The first reason Jason should trust Medea is Jason does not desire to turn Medea against him. If
Jason refuses Medea s aid, he will most certainly die. There is no sense ... Show more content on

If Medea helps Jason, it would be counted cheating, and therefore it would be Medea s throne and
NOT Jason s, and Jason would not be able to truthfully say that he had obtained the Golden Fleece.
However, this reason is also inadequate because Jason has a one in infinity chance of completing
the overwhelming task even with all the help he currently has. Therefore, neither the possibility of
Medea tricking Jason nor the notion that Jason needs to prove himself alone are enough to dissuade
Jason from trusting

Japan As A Collectivist Country
Many westerners view Japan as a collectivist country that differs greatly when comparing it to
western countries such as the United States in cultural aspects. One may explain that Confucianism
plays a key role in how the Japanese society functions. Others may argue that Japan is distinctively
different and no other country share similar traits. People can see the evidence of Japan being a
collectivistic country by comparing Japan to other countries in the concept of high context society
versus low context society. How do Japan and other countries differ in culture? Japan is regarded as
a high context society and on the other hand the United Statesis considered a low context society. In
high context societies, people often value relationships more than partnership. The virtue of
harmony is the main emphasis in high context societies. In the United States students are often
encouraged to know how to form an argument and debate with other people to prove their opinion
and persuade other people to agree. On the contrary, Japanese students learn about teamwork
through different task and recognize oneself as a member of the society. In Japan, people
discourage competition and encourage cooperation. Unlike the United States where children are
often praised for being unique and special, Japan tends to prefer conformity and children are
advised to be just like everyone else in the group. Although it has changed throughout the past
decade, before all most all female Japanese

Related To The Golden Ratio
This short report and presentation related to the Golden Ratio. The Golden Ratio has interested
mathematicians for a long time. The Golden Ratio is a special number that is defined
mathematically from
which produces 1.618033989..., commonly used as the approximation 1.618. There is interesting
fact that digits just keep on going to infinity, with no pattern. Mathematically, the Golden Ratiois
tends to be an irrational number.
Two numbers tend to be golden if the ratio of their sum to the bigger number is equal as the larger
to the smaller number. In other words, this relationship could be expressed with the following
equation:
In the case of a rectangle, if k is the length of the longer sides, whereas m is the length of the
shorter sides, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historically, this number can be found in the architecture of many ancient buildings such as the
Parthenon and the Great Pyramids. Some investigations of the Acropolis, including the
Parthenon, established that majority of its proportions mostly are close to the golden ratio. It
could be concluded that architects knew the golden ratio, that is why classical buildings and
their elements are proportioned according to the golden ratio. The design of the Parthenon was
created according to the Golden ratio, as illustrated in the picture 1. Another famous example of
usage the Golden ratio in architecture is the Acropolis of Athens. The dimensions of the Great
Pyramid of Giza, which is approximately 4,600 years old, are also based on the Golden Ratio.
When it comes to art, there are several illustrations, which can prove that the Golden ratio is used
in the arts as well. For instance, Leonardo da Vinci s paintings in De Divina Proportione (On the
Divine Proportion) and Mona Lisa employ the Golden ratio in their geometric equivalents. Also
Mondrian used the Golden number in his masterpiece as well as Salvador Dali in his The
Sacrament of the Last

The beaches of South Carolina are a prized quality and possession to the state and its people as it
provides beauty, enjoyment and the economic benefits of tourism year round. Due to storms,
natural processes of sand movement and development, the beaches of South Carolina,
specifically the Grand Strand beaches and local beaches of Sullivan s Island and Folly Beach,
are eroding at a rapid rate. Erosion is a natural process effected by sea level rise, storms and
currents and many techniques have been used in the past to combat erosion issues that threaten to
wash away beaches and homes in the process. Erosion preventative structures used in the past, such
as jetties and seawalls, have proven to be even more damaging to beach erosion but... Show more

Sea level rise is also a significant factor of erosion because as the sea level has risen over time,
beaches and barrier islands have moved, transporting sand in the process. Sea level rise is a long
term process of coastal transformation as sand is steadily removed from beaches and barrier
islands and transported to other areas, creating less protection for beaches and estuaries. As sea
level rise continues to increase along the South Carolina coast, erosion by coastal flooding will
become an even greater problem (United States 1.1). One study on the correlation between sea
level rise and erosion concluded that sea level rise does increase erosion rates if nothing else due
to the fact that rising sea level enables high energy waves to reach farther up the beach and
redistribute sand offshore (Leatherman 55). Human activity through construction also has a
negative effect on beaches and erosion, for example the building of structures such as seawalls,
jetties and groins have negatively effected the movement of sand, thus not allowing the proper
amount of sand to reach the beaches and barrier islands to replace the moving sand due to other
factors (United States 1.1). Erosion is a natural process of coastal change due to many factors, but
human activity and development can increase the rate at which

Workplace Harassment In The Workplace
The workplace has an environment where people having different communication styles,
personalities and views come to interact. These differences play a significant role in sourcing
these workplace issues. These factors can ultimately lead to tension and stress at workplace for
people who are involved. Even though, all colleagues have all the rights for fair treatment and

Specifically, people, who belong to LGBT community, are unsafe in their workplaces by non

performance and these people have to struggle in order to perform at their workplace. These
people also face the difficulty in finding a suitable job that matches their abilities and interests

very simple way. They escaped from England to be able to worship God as they liked, and to

New England was governed in a way that promoted the glory of God and the settlers own common

then subdivided, residents being accorded lots in the central area and land outside for farming.

The US Involvement In The Kyoto Protocol
Global warming has become one of the most complicated issued facing the whole world. It may
cause significant changes in natural, ecological or social systems. Under this circumstance,
developed nations has decided to work together to combat this serious problem. The Kyoto Protocol
is an international agreement linked to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate
Change. Its objective is to make nations that ratified the agreement reduce their emissions of carbon
dioxideand five other greenhouse gases, or engage in emissions trading if they maintain or increase
emissions of these gases toward the target set for each nation. Many countries are trying their best
to support the Kyoto Protocol. On the other hand, some other nations,... Show more content on

Additionally, it is said that the new standard was considering would have caused devastating harm,
wiping out millions of American jobs and costing our economy more than $1 trillion over a decade,
without any significant environmental or health benefits. As we can see these facts, to work on
reducing the greenhouse gas emission, the US has to spend a lot of money. In addition to this fact,
it is obvious that economic growth and increased energy demand are closely linked to increased
emissions of CO2. The US cannot go on achieving the recovery of its economy and the reduction
of greenhouse gas emission at the same time. Therefore, it will take a long time to make the US
get involved in the Kyoto Protocol. It is now busy to rebuild its economy, and doesn t have much
scope to care about this global issue. Out of this economical problem the US facing, there are some
other reasons why the US cannot be active on supporting the Kyoto protocol. I d like to think of
them in the next paragraph.
It is often discussed in the relation to the Kyoto Protocol its exemptions of many nations including
major emission nations like India and China. This is one of the most difficult point regarding the
Kyoto Protocol; at the same time, and one of the reasons why the US cannot be cooperative about
the Kyoto Protocol. China, India, and other developing countries were exempt from the
requirements of the Kyoto Protocol, even though

The idea of selling at a loss may appear to be in the public interest and therefore not often
challenged. Only when the leader pushes up prices, it then becomes suspicious. Loss leadership can
be similar to predatory pricing or cross subsidisation; both seen as anticompetitive practices.
[edit] Market oriented pricing
Setting a price based upon analysis and research compiled from the targeted market. Also with the

The price is deliberately set at low level to gain customer s interest and establishing a foot hold in
the market.[2]

Setting a different price for the same product in different segments to the market. For example,
this can be for different ages or for different opening times, such as cinema tickets. Market
orientated pricing is also a very simple form of pricing used by very new businesses. What it
involves is, setting the price of your product/service according to research conducted on your target
market.

Premium pricing is the practice of keeping the price of a product or service artificially high in
order to encourage favorable perceptions among buyers, based solely on the price. The practice is

Analysis Of Proposition Of Rational Expectations,...
CHAPTER ELEVEN
STUDY WITH INVARIANCE PROPOSITION OF RATIONAL EXPECTATIONS
11.1 Introduction The concept of Invariance Proposition of Rational Expectations, developed by
Lucas, Sargent and Wallace in early seventies, presents the idea that the anticipated part of money
supply affects price level. Since the present work is devoted to study the relationship between
money supply and price level, the Invariance Proposition theory of rational expectation can be
applied to examine the relationship between anticipated money supply and price level. In order to
apply Invariance Proposition theory in examining the impact of anticipated money supply on price
level, we need to estimate the anticipated money supply.
There are several procedures to estimate the anticipated money supply; the present study has applied
ARIMA structures of narrow and broad money supply for the estimation of anticipated money
supply. After identifying anticipated money supply, a regression equation has been performed
taking price level as dependent variable and anticipated money supply as explanatory variable.
11.2 ARIMA Model for M1 Money Supply
In order to quantify anticipated money supply, the ARIMA model has been applied. For this
purpose equation (11.1) has been employed for ARIMA structure for M1 money supply, on the
basis of which the anticipated M1 money supplies has been quantified.

What Is The Theme Of The Pie By Gary Soto
At some point in almost everyone s childhood, there is a moment of deliberate wrongdoing,
followed by panic and guilt. Perhaps it is standing on the water spout outside the house and
neglecting to inform an adult when the pipe breaks and spews water into the backyard. Maybe it
is lying to a parent about the whereabouts of a dollar after the ice cream truck goes by. For author
Gary Soto, it was stealing a piefrom the neighborhood grocery store. In his autobiography, Soto
recounts the story and emotions of his six year old self taking an apple pie off the rack and
walking home with it, only to be overwhelmed by a guilt ridden conscience. Throughout the
narrative, Soto uses imagery and precise diction to recreate his experiences as a guilty... Show more

This changes with the appearance of Cross Eyed Johnny, a neighborhood boy who asks for some
pie and is denied. Soto continues to eat, but tears blurred [his] eyes as [he] remembered the
grocer s forehead . This time, the mention of tears is not because it was about the best thing [he]
had ever tasted but rather because he felt true guilt. He is reminded of the angelic grocer, and
even though he is beginning to feel horrible continues to stuff his face with pie. Cross Eyed
Johnny comments, your hands are dirty, before [climbing] his roof to watch the other boy eat.
This once again brings up the symbolism of dirty hands, as though they are tainted with sin. The
symbolism intensifies as Cross Eyed Johnny [jumps] off and [hobbles] away because the fall
had hurt him . This represents a fall from grace, for the young Soto has committed perhaps the
worst sin of his six year long life. He begins to feel paranoid and sees the pie tin [glaring] at [him]
and feeling his face sticky with guilt . The personification of the pie tin shows that the boy feels
like he is being watched and judged for his sin, and wet imagery is once again used to describe the
stickiness of guilt. The sweetness was too tempting to resist, but now he has to deal with the guilt
that clings to him covers his conscience. As he sits on the curb, A car

The Effects Of Television Violence On Children Essay
This guest teaches your children to resolve conflicts through violence. The guest baby sits your
kids and teaches them principles you don t agree with. Does watching violence in TV is harmful
for your children? Is it Ok to let the 2 year olds watch TV unsupervised? No says the American
replacing baby sitters?
Hypothesis: Extensive viewing of television violence causes children to behave in aggressive or
harmful ways to others.
Children model behavior they see in the media, she wrote in 1993. If kids don t see the
consequences of violence, it teaches them that violence doesn t cause serious harm. When heroes
use violence it sends a message that violence is an appropriate way to respond to problems.
Ever since TV has been introduced into the homes, parents, teacher and psychologists have been
wanting to know about the impact of TV on children. According to the report given by National
institute of mental Health in 1982, the following effects were identified in children on viewing
excessive violence in TV [1] http://www.apa.org/action/resources/research in action/protect.aspx
Children may become less sensitive to the pain and suffering of others.
Children may be more fearful of the world around them.

The Case Between Ccp Management, Inc.
In looking at the case between CCP Management, Inc. and Andrew Hoganmuller the logical
place to start is looking at a few terms, then considering the material facts and issues, next
exploring what case law has found in the past, and finally determining the outcome of the
dispute. Here are some terms we must consider in this case: A contract involves a promise in
return for reasonable consideration. Adequate consideration is a benefit or detriment, which a
party receives which reasonably and fairly induces them to make the promise/contract. State
statutory, common law, and private laws govern all contracts. Private law may supersede many
of the rules otherwise established by state law. Statutory law often requires some contracts to be
in writing and executed with particular formalities (Contract, n.d.). Refraining or promising to
perform or not perform some in exchange for something else. An offer must be stated and
delivered in a way that would lead a reasonable person to expect a binding contract to arise from
its acceptance (Offer, n.d.). Acceptance either can be quantified or inferred by the offeree s
conduct; however, judgment must be objective. Forming a binding contract, requires relaying
acceptance in a manner authorized, requested, or at least reasonably expected by the offeror
(Acceptance, n.d.). A breach of contract occurs when one or more parties are not performing
according to contract; refusing or failing to fulfill an obligation imposed by a

Maxwell s Equation Essay
INTRODUCTION
Maxwell s Equations are a set of four mathematical equations that provides the foundation to the
largely abstract concepts of electricity and magnetism. They are a mathematical condensation of all
the basic rules, by which electricity and magnetism function. Refer to Figure 1 for the equations.
Although James Clerk Maxwell himself only contributed to the last equation, his contribution led
to one of the most important discoveries in the history of science. However, it wasn t until 25
years later that these equations were interpreted and used rightly by the rest of the world. On the
right is an image of Maxwell.
Maxwell s work as quoted by Einstein:
The formulation of Maxwell s equations is the most important event in physics since Newton s

type of law ... ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The equation is actually incomplete, and valid only for a long straight wire. An example to prove
that it s incomplete is given below.
Suppose a pot is taken and the exterior surface is considered the enclosed surface mentioned in the
law, and the circumference of the bottom is considered to be the closed curve. When the equation
uses the term i , it actually means the current enclosed within the path, piercing through the surface.
If the pot were shaped in such a way that the wire carrying current ended inside the pot after
piercing through and coming out, current enclosed would be 0. This either means that dl and the
magnetic field are always perpendicular (cosine 90 = 0), or that the magnetic field itself is 0. Both
are impossible and there lies the contradiction.
MAXWELL S CORRECTION
Maxwell corrected the equation by adding another term to it. Considering the above example, there
is a change in electric field as the current pierces through one surface of the pot and goes out
through the other. This field can be expresses

Bandura Social Influence
Social influence contains the ability to change the way a person reacts to a situation. An
individual can adapt to a situation based on their surroundings. This type of influence begins as
early as childhood when the mind is most vulnerable to learning. To test the vulnerability of a
child s mind, an experiment was conducted by Bandura, who theorized the process of social
learning. In the study, 36 boys and girls of ages three to six were observed after they viewed a
video on a model aggressively attacking a Bobo doll. After the children observed the aggressive
model, the children imitated similar actions. According to the results, Children learn social behavior

When they were interviewed after the experiment, most of them said they did not really believe
their conforming answers, but had gone along with the group for fear of being ridiculed or
thought peculiar (McLeod). The participants complied with the majority against their correct
judgment to not stand out, or because they felt less informed compared to the rest of the group.
As a result of approving the erroneous answer, it can negatively impact society. For example, in
the 1950s, the United States was in a time of fear of communism, and people were wrongly
accused of being a communist (McLeod). Nevertheless, no individuals carried the bravery to speak
out against the wrongdoing in fear of accusation. If the United States were to repeat events like the
1950s, communal influence can overpower the rationality of the people. In both the Bobo doll
experiment and the conformity experiment, the studies expose the true power of social influence; it
possesses the ability to encourage an individual to act a certain way in different

Duck Creek Watershed Essay
Background (1 В¶): What is the Duck Creek Watershed? What problems is it facing? What is
being done so far to remedy these problems? Who is working on this problem?
The Duck Creek watershed in Scott County, IA is currently facing high levels of Escherichia coli
(E. coli) bacteria contamination. This pollution has put the watershed on the impaired waters list
for the state of Iowa. The impaired waters list is a comprehensive list of every waterway in a state
that has a contamination problem according to EPA regulations (insert source for impaired waters
explanation EPA regulations). Much of the pollution that can be found in the Duck Creek watershed
is coming from nonpoint source (NPS) pollution. Nonpoint source pollution significantly
contributes to the deterioration of water quality due to the difficulty in identifying, assessing and
controlling the sources of this type of pollution (citation Wang). This pollution is caused by runoff
moving over the land. It picks up and carries away natural and human made pollutants, finally
depositing them into lakes, streams, rivers, wetlands and even our underground sources of drinking
water (citation SCSWCD). Examples of nonpoint sources in the watershed could include failing
septic systems, livestock access to streams, pastures full of manure, fertilizers applied to crops,
miscellaneous urban sources such as gasoline or oil, pet waste, and wildlife (citation SCSWCD).
Another source of NPS pollution is that conventional urban storm

Similarities And Differences Between Oedipus And Jocasta
Oedipus and Jocasta seem interesting because how they react to the situations that they are
presented upon them. They also share very similar characteristics but yet each are different in the
story of Oedipus Rex. Oedipus was going to get to his fate no matter what ways he turned because
the curse put upon King Laius. It was the fact that he had been cursed that made it seem more
interesting and the circumstances that he would bring upon himself. Jocastaalso could ve been
cursed along King Laius and her role to stop the oracle from happening was what brought the plot
forward from the start. Oedipusflaw characteristics that stood out were anger, cowardness, pride,
fear, willfulness, and deniable. His anger most of the time would get the best of him and in the

The main one that stands out for both is their anger issue. Oedipus obviously showed a lot of

and right after she killed herself, while Oedipus also anger at the King Laius resorted to killing.
They are also deniable. In Oedipus Rex they showed it a lot whenever the truth kept on being
closer to be revealed they tried to find ways out of the truth. Truly, both character may have develop
different but they still show the same actions and emotions. Jocasta was actually calm whenever
Oedipus related to the story of how King Laius died, while Oedipus was getting nervous, scared.

Growing Up In The House On Mango Street By Sandra Cisneros
In the novel, The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros, the theme of growing up is prevalent
throughout the book. Throughout the novel, a young mexican girl named Esperanza goes through
experiences as she matures that involve her friends, society, dangers that expose her to the outside
world and help her to realize what the real worldis like.
The first time Esperanza makes an appearance in the book, she is younger and easily manipulated,

Additionally, surviving the Gilo River, the crocodiles, and the rebel s shooting was
tremendously lucky. If Salva did not have this luck then he would long be gone already.
Furthermore, Slava meeting the old Dinka woman and being able to receive help from her was
also extremely lucky. As it states in a Long Walk To Water, The old woman gave Salva a bag of
peanuts and a gourd for drinking water (Park, 22). This shows that Salva meeting the old woman
is a miracle because he got housing for a few days and food and a gourd for water. This may not
seem that important however when Salva was crossing the Akobo desert if Salva didn t have the
old woman s gourd to hold water he could have died of dehydration.
A second theme in A Long Walk to Water that helps Salva survive is familybeing the most
important resource. This relates to Slava s survival because Salva depends on his Uncle for
food, water, and protection. Like it states in A Long Walk to Water, Now that Salva was without
Uncle s care and protection, the group attitude toward him changed.... No one shared anything
with him, neither food nor company. Uncle had always shared the animals and birds he shot
with everyone in the group (Park, 65 66). This shows that Salva relied on Uncle for most of what
he needed to survive and as verbalized before Salva uses Uncle like an asset for survival. So
without Uncle, Salva may have not survive at all because Uncle was the one who provided most of

The Joy Luck Club Narrative Style
In The Joy Luck Club, Tan has purposely externalized the eight characters mental world by allowing
each of them to tell her own story in a deceptively simple manner, thus allowing the reader to plunge
into the mind of the characters. The motives, desires, pains, pleasures, and concerns of the
characters are thereby effectively dramatized. This particular writing strategy allows Tan to
transcend the conventional novelistic dichotomy of preferred showing and undesirable telling. The
stories thus tell us a great deal about individual characters, their reaction to each other, and their
activities together. The Joy Luck Club is a bridge uniting both space and time. It connects the
sixteen intricately interlocking stories and helps to reveal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Unlike Tan s other novels, which are based on oral narratives of mothers, this story develops by
the act of documenting past. Ruth who is the ghost writer, major character, starts to amend her life
by initiating a unique creative writing, with all immaculate insight that she has attained about
herself. In other words, by looking back and by the power of recalling past memories, Ruth has
obtained a new vision of future; as she writes the story of her mother and her grandmother, she
reveals her vision, in the closing words of the novel, They write about what happened, why it
happened, how they can make other things happen. They write stories of things that are but should
not have been. They write about what could have been, what still might be. They write of a past
that can be changed. Ruth discovers the answer to her philosophical questions about life.
Interestingly, this insight belongs to a feminine sphere and its instructors are all women who share
their memories with their daughters, to protect them from hazards of life. Therefore, this story
develops by the act of documenting past. However, the written word serves to perform as the
savior of ancestral memories and preserves the history of a family and in larger scale, a

Justification And Justification For The Act Of Being Set...
The simple noun justification refers to the act of being set right or made right. Justification,
however, is not just limited to just being corrected. It has influences in other various meanings to it
as well. For example, justification also means the act of removing debt, being vindicated by judge,
or having a relationship restored all fall under the meaning of justification. This is essentially Gods
act of removing the sin within us humans while considering us to be righteous through Christ s
sacrifice. As stated in Christ Our Salvation , Those who are righteous will live by faith(Larondelle,
10). This means that justification must exist in order to have people who live by faith and for
these people to be saved and redeemed. Justification helps to show that we humans are in need
of daily justification through faith in Christ (Abrams, 97). Sanctification is defined to be the act
or process by which people are cleansed and set apart from others to do God s will. Some
synonyms used in the New Interpreter s Dictionary of the Bible are: to be set apart, to dedicate,
to purify, to make sacred, and to manifest holiness. The Dictionary states that to be sanctified is
to be graciously taken up and set apart for participation in the saving or reconciling purposes of
God. For Christians, this happens when they become and remain part of the community of God s
people, who are shaped by the Holy Spirit in the image of God. This is where God makes us Holy.

Joan Mitchell Research Paper
I choose to research Joan Mitchell because I did not know very much about her or the type of
artist she is. Joan Mitchell is a second generation member of the abstract expressionist group and
was a very well respected painter of her time. She was born on February 12, 1925 and died on
October 30, 1992. Joan was born in Mitchell was born in Chicago Illumines however, most of her
career took place in France and she was one of the eras few female painters. She was so well
respected that her paintings and prints can be seen in major museums and collections across the
United States and Europe. Her paintings often covered two separate panels. An admirer of Vincent
van Gogh s work, Mitchell observed in one of his final paintings Wheatfield with Crows (1890) the
symbology of death, suicide, hopelessness, depression and darkness. With her sense that Wheatfield
with Crows was a suicide note, she painted a paintingcalled No Birds as a response and as an
homage . Joan was a painter who was influenced by many others and incorporated others ideas in
her paintings. I think that this is one of the reasons why she is so well respected. Joan s most

The Convention Of Seneca Falls
The Convention of Seneca Falls was held in central New York. The convention lasted for two full
days on the dates of July 19 and 20th in the year 1848. Elizabeth Stanton decided to hold a gathering
to discuss the social, civil, and religious condition and rights of woman. Stanton led the convention
with the help of friend Lucretia Mott. The articles states that the Convention of Seneca Falls is
what helped to open up the idea of equality for both genders saying that it marked the beginning of
the seventy year struggle for women s suffrage. Stanton and Mott had first became acquainted in
England at the World Anti Slavery Convention. This was the same conference that refused to
accommodate Mott and other representatives due to the fact that they were women. Lucretia Mott
was a woman in her mid forties, she was a Quaker minister, feminist, and abolitionist. Stanton
composed a document called the Declaration of Sentiments. The Declaration of Sentiments was a
document declaring the given rights of women. This document is what defined the convention. It
was slightly based off of the Declaration of Independence. The Convention of Seneca Falls was
announced to the citizens by a small, unsigned notice placed in the Seneca County Courier. The
first day of the convention was reserved solely for women to discuss and debate on the Declaration
of Sentiments document. On the second day of the convention, they opened it for all people to
attend. Frederick Douglass gave a powerful speech

Tahama Springs after Zebulon Pike s guide and friend, a Sioux chief. The trails adjacent to
Monument Creek were regularly used by native animals and people, well before the first
Europeans arrived on the scene. Later, this was one of the first trails followed by early European

Evaluation of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement
Evaluation of RAP Material
Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) is the term given to removed and/or reprocessed pavement
materials from an old pavement containing bitumen and aggregates. These materials are obtained
when asphalt pavements are removed for reconstruction, resurfacing, or to gain access to buried
utilities. When properly crushed and screened, RAP consists of high quality, well graded
aggregates coated by asphalt cement (FHWA 1998).
The collected RAP material used in the study is collected from Narela and was tested in the
laboratory for the following properties: Determination of Bitumen Content (ASTM D 6307) Binder
recovery through Abson Method (ASTM D 2172 and D 1856) Gradation of the recovered
aggregates of RAP (IRC 37:2012 specifications)
Detailed description of these tests is provided in the following subsections.

system. The furnace s data collection system shall measure and record automatically the aggregate
mass of the sample after ignition to the nearest 0.1 g. The mass shall be obtained immediately upon
completion of tests by subtracting the mass loss measured by the furnace from the initial mass of

Lydia Bennet Women
Today, women are appraised as weak because of the roles women were assigned since they existed.
In the 18th century, women were only given the power to submit to bear children, submit to their
husband, and be a housewife. Rights were given to women but their roles and expectations were
still appended to their gender. In the novel Pride and Prejudice, author Jane Austin s motive was to
reveal how women s expectations challenged women with different personalities and how things
haven t changed since the 18th century.
Back then, a woman was expected to be ladylike and mature. Lydia Bennet is the youngest child
in the Bennett family who is immature and obsesses over men. When Lydia runs away with an
older man name Mr. Wickham, her womanhood was challenged by society. Since Lydia was not
married to Mr. Wickham, her ignominy of being promiscuous causes a bad reputation on her and
her family. Today, Lydia would be classified as a whore because of her lack of marriageand running
off with a man. It has become a normal thing for women to be called out of their name for being
single and going on dates with multiple men. The reason being is because people imply that the
women are providing voluntary sex. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, it is challenging for Elizabeth Bennett, who is outspoken. She is challenged when
she refuses Mr.Collins proposal and tells him off. Refusing to marry caused society to sham her.
Today, refusing a marriage means that the woman is delusional because society s standards say
that a woman needs a man in her life. Also, having a sharp tongue classified her as being
disobedient. Lizzy tells Mr. Darcy off for sabotaging her sister s relationship with Mr. Bingley and
rejects his hand in marriage. Her acrimonious tone makes her come off as harsh. Still, society
continues to sham women for voicing their opinion and being strong minded. These type of women
are known to be

Summary Of Guns Germs And Steel
A. The author of Guns, Germs, and Steel, Jared Diamond, is researching birds on the island of

people developed so much cargo and brought it to New Guinea, but black people had little cargo
of our own? B. Pizarro s capture explains why Europeans colonized the New World instead of
Native Americans because it conveys how guns, germs, and steel Europeans had an upper hand
against natives in the New World. Their benefits included having guns and horses, carrying disease

The two axes are north/south and east/west. It is more beneficial to have a west/east axis over a
north/south axis. This is because the west/east have similar climate, illnesses, and same time

not help the success of human beings. F. Germs or diseases are easily spread from person to
person. In a very densely populated society germs can easily spread between people versus a
spacious nomadic society. Your body will naturally tries to become immune and fight germs. In
colonization it will be harder to fight germs because of the high amount of people and numerous

A Case Study Of 27 Working Class Students Across The Uk...
This is a case study of 27 working class students across the UK higher education institutions
looking at the different sociological understanding of student identification to determine their
social and academic aspects ( Reay, D., Crozier, G. and Clayton, J. 2010). In 2010 the year which

(UCAS) showed that the 24.72% of those accepted were from the four lowest socio economic
groups in 2005 and in the previous year it was 25.62% (Shepherd, 2007).
The aim of the whole paper was to find out if students from a working class background felt as if
they were fitting in or if they felt as if they were standing out when it came to attending higher
education studies (Reay, D., Crozier, G. and Clayton, J. (2010). They study was carried across
four institutions of higher learning comprising of Southern elite university, Civic in the Midlands,
s post 1922 in the North and a college of further education in the East of England. The selection
for these universities was to get a cross section of experiences by working class students (Reay, D.,

Analysis Of The American Born Chinese By Gene Luen Yang
Gene Luen Yang s novel, the American Born Chinese is the story of a young boy called Jin Wang
of Chinese American descent. Wang is struggling with the identity of his ethnicity. The central
message that the author wishes to pass across is to encourage young people to embrace their
identities and desist from judging people based on their culture, race, and appearance. Throughout
the whole story, the main players experience lack of self acceptance because of the treatments they
receive from the society. Ironically, this is the same society that should accept them as part of its
own. Because of their cultural and racial differences, teenagers are discriminated against by the
society. As a result, these young people resort in doing things that are detrimental to their social
well beings (Yang, 2007).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

his only friend is Wei Chen. His failure to get a girlfriend makes life difficult for him. On the

attempts to become a jock. Everything seems to be working out well for him as he has a

Angelou s will to never stay a prisoner, to never stay quit and to fly away from that horrible life is also expressed in I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, where she writes the bird that stalks down the narrow cage can seldomthrough his bars of rage his wings are clipped and his feet are tied so he opens his throat to sing (86). In 1937 Angelou stopped talking and became mute following her rape.Instead she became an observer of everything around her, including the racial divisions of her town. Angelou s knapsack of misery is illustrated in this book as well as the pain of her self discovery, and, most of al, the book depicts the love and joy of being and understanding of who she was and is: a strong, black, beautiful women. The walls were lined with marble slabs or were frescoed. The ceilings were bare, exposing beams, but in finer houses they were covered with ivory, gold or were frescoed. The layout and design of Roman houses reflected the Roman culture. There were many rooms in these roman homes. The names of the rooms are: triclinium, ala, cubiculum, vesibulum, exedra, taberna, peristylium, culina, atrium, and the tabilum. Each one of the rooms had a specific purpose. • 4. A Vindication Of The Rights Of Woman To some, the word feminism is intimidating; the image of angry, resentful, spiteful women with an agenda to bring down the opposite sex might come to mind when discussing the topic. However, this image is an inaccurate display of what feminism truly is. The true meaning of feminism is a movement towards equality between women and men; there is no tearing down of the opposite sex, there is no goal for women to be seen as greater than men, there is no hidden agenda the goal is simply equality. In Mary Wollstonecraft s essay A Vindication of the Rights of Woman, she argues the feminist message that women should have access to the same education that men have been granted. While women and men have been given the same educational opportunities today, there are points Wollstonecraft addresses in her essay that still hold true to be issues in modern society; among these issues are beauty standards, sexuality, and genderroles. In our society, women are constantly scrutinized on their appearance. Too fat. Too thin. Not enough makeup. Too much makeup. Skin is too pale. Skin is too dark. Lips are too small and nose is too big. She looked better before she had work done. Clothes are too revealing. Show more skin. These are the type of things that women hear everyday; there is always pressure to maintain an appearance that is beautiful. • 5. Arnold Schoenberg s Drei Klavierstucke Arnold Schoenberg s Drei KlavierstГјcke, Opus 11 (Three Piano Pieces) represent his first fully atonal work, which would become the basis for moving forward in his later atonal and serial works. Schoenberg believed that music history naturally pushed forward and that tonality could not contain music forever. He believed atonalitywas the next step and Schoenberg admitted, The most decisive steps forward occurred in the Two Songs, Op. 14, and in the Three Piano Pieces, Op. 11. However, small traces of tonalityand Romanticism remain, as the small thematic units of the work have shown connections to that of Brahms and Liszt, especially in the opening of the first piece. Numerous theorists have tried to place these three short pieces into various tonal centers for analysis, trying to argue that it is not atonal. Attempts have been made to analyze the pieces in E major and minor, as well as phyrygian mode, with no luck on forming an agreement to place this work into the world of tonality. The first two pieces of Drei KlavierstГјcke were composed in February 1909 in Vienna, while the third came later in August and a revision in 1924. Schoenberg published the work with the Universal Edition in Vienna in 1910, revised in 1925. A typical performance lasts roughly 14 minutes. The world premiere of the work was given by Etta Werndorff in Vienna s Ehrbar Saal on January 14th, 1910. Schoenberg wrote these pieces in his new outburst of expressionist musicin 1909, along ... If you are a tourist visiting Hawaii. Once you start to drive around Oahu, you will notice homeless people or trash all around the island. Homelessness in Hawaii is a problem everyone can agree on. As I chose to write about homelessness, I am not picking on the homeless. Writing about the homeless issue in Hawaiidoesn t only have an impact on our community but it also includes other states. Being born and raised here on Oahu, I have not only realized that Hawaii is not the old Hawaii. I have realized our homeless community has been growing rapidly. Ever since I was ten I have fell in love with surfing. While going to school everyday is sometimes stressful. I like to go surfing either after class or before class starts. With Waikiki being my one of my favorite spots to surf. If we all don t know already, we know Waikiki has terrible parking. When I go down to Waikiki I like to park at the zoo. After I grab my surf board, I leave everything in my car because I clip my car key to my bathing suit and walk down to the beach. As the years go by the homeless population in Hawaii starts to grow. Each time I walk down Waikiki I have noticed more homeless people sleeping along Waikiki Ave. Lately I have been scared to walk down Waikiki Ave alone. At least every time I go surfing homeless people have tried to approach me. The solution to all of this we may not have in the near ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How Does Jason Trust Medea Trust Did you know that 100% of people who choose to not trust enchantresses when they are willing to help are defenestrated and die excruciatingly painful deaths within a week of that senseless decision? In the Greek Myth Jason and the Golden Fleece , Jason, a brave, honest young man, must obtain the Golden Fleece to secure the kingdom, which is rightfully his. Now, Jason is so close to gaining the beautiful pelage, but another obstacle looms like Mount Olympus before him: the current owner of the Golden Fleece has inevitably refused to just give his most precious position away. However, as Jason walked dejectedly away from the palace, the king s cunning daughter, Medea, offered her assistance. But, there is one problem, Medea is an enchantress who bounces between good and evil as often as humans breathe; she could switch sides in the blink of an eye. Everyone agrees Medea is powerful, but some say that Jason should trust Medea, while others say Jason should not trust Medea. Jason should trust Medea for these three reasons: Jason does not desire to turn Medea against him, Medea is an enchantress, and Jason needs all the help he can get. The first reason Jason should trust Medea is Jason does not desire to turn Medea against him. If Jason refuses Medea s aid, he will most certainly die. There is no sense ... One may explain that Confucianism plays a key role in how the Japanese society functions. Others may argue that Japan is distinctively different and no other country share similar traits. People can see the evidence of Japan being a collectivistic country by comparing Japan to other countries in the concept of high context society versus low context society. How do Japan and other countries differ in culture? Japan is regarded as a high context society and on the other hand the United Statesis considered a low context society. In high context societies, people often value relationships more than partnership. The virtue of harmony is the main emphasis in high context societies. In the United States students are often encouraged to know how to form an argument and debate with other people to prove their opinion and persuade other people to agree. On the contrary, Japanese students learn about teamwork through different task and recognize oneself as a member of the society. In Japan, people discourage competition and encourage cooperation. • 11. Related To The Golden Ratio This short report and presentation related to the Golden Ratio. The Golden Ratio has interested mathematicians for a long time. The Golden Ratio is a special number that is defined mathematically from which produces 1.618033989..., commonly used as the approximation 1.618. There is interesting fact that digits just keep on going to infinity, with no pattern. Mathematically, the Golden Ratiois tends to be an irrational number. Two numbers tend to be golden if the ratio of their sum to the bigger number is equal as the larger to the smaller number. In other words, this relationship could be expressed with the following equation: In the case of a rectangle, if k is the length of the longer sides, whereas m is the length of the shorter sides, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Historically, this number can be found in the architecture of many ancient buildings such as the Parthenon and the Great Pyramids. Some investigations of the Acropolis, including the Parthenon, established that majority of its proportions mostly are close to the golden ratio. It could be concluded that architects knew the golden ratio, that is why classical buildings and their elements are proportioned according to the golden ratio. The design of the Parthenon was created according to the Golden ratio, as illustrated in the picture 1. Another famous example of usage the Golden ratio in architecture is the Acropolis of Athens. The dimensions of the Great Pyramid of Giza, which is approximately 4,600 years old, are also based on the Golden Ratio. When it comes to art, there are several illustrations, which can prove that the Golden ratio is used in the arts as well. For instance, Leonardo da Vinci s paintings in De Divina Proportione (On the Divine Proportion) and Mona Lisa employ the Golden ratio in their geometric equivalents. Due to storms, natural processes of sand movement and development, the beaches of South Carolina, specifically the Grand Strand beaches and local beaches of Sullivan s Island and Folly Beach, are eroding at a rapid rate. Erosion is a natural process effected by sea level rise, storms and currents and many techniques have been used in the past to combat erosion issues that threaten to wash away beaches and homes in the process. Sea level rise is also a significant factor of erosion because as the sea level has risen over time, beaches and barrier islands have moved, transporting sand in the process. Sea level rise is a long term process of coastal transformation as sand is steadily removed from beaches and barrier islands and transported to other areas, creating less protection for beaches and estuaries. As sea level rise continues to increase along the South Carolina coast, erosion by coastal flooding will become an even greater problem (United States 1.1). One study on the correlation between sea level rise and erosion concluded that sea level rise does increase erosion rates if nothing else due to the fact that rising sea level enables high energy waves to reach farther up the beach and redistribute sand offshore (Leatherman 55). Human activity through construction also has a negative effect on beaches and erosion, for example the building of structures such as seawalls, jetties and groins have negatively effected the movement of sand, thus not allowing the proper amount of sand to reach the beaches and barrier islands to replace the moving sand due to other factors (United States 1.1). As we can see these facts, to work on reducing the greenhouse gas emission, the US has to spend a lot of money. In addition to this fact, it is obvious that economic growth and increased energy demand are closely linked to increased emissions of CO2. The US cannot go on achieving the recovery of its economy and the reduction of greenhouse gas emission at the same time. Therefore, it will take a long time to make the US get involved in the Kyoto Protocol. It is now busy to rebuild its economy, and doesn t have much scope to care about this global issue. Out of this economical problem the US facing, there are some other reasons why the US cannot be active on supporting the Kyoto protocol. I d like to think of them in the next paragraph. • 25. Analysis Of Proposition Of Rational Expectations,... CHAPTER ELEVEN STUDY WITH INVARIANCE PROPOSITION OF RATIONAL EXPECTATIONS 11.1 Introduction The concept of Invariance Proposition of Rational Expectations, developed by Lucas, Sargent and Wallace in early seventies, presents the idea that the anticipated part of money supply affects price level. Since the present work is devoted to study the relationship between money supply and price level, the Invariance Proposition theory of rational expectation can be applied to examine the relationship between anticipated money supply and price level. In order to apply Invariance Proposition theory in examining the impact of anticipated money supply on price level, we need to estimate the anticipated money supply. There are several procedures to estimate the anticipated money supply; the present study has applied ARIMA structures of narrow and broad money supply for the estimation of anticipated money supply. After identifying anticipated money supply, a regression equation has been performed taking price level as dependent variable and anticipated money supply as explanatory variable. 11.2 ARIMA Model for M1 Money Supply In order to quantify anticipated money supply, the ARIMA model has been applied. For this purpose equation (11.1) has been employed for ARIMA structure for M1 money supply, on the basis of which the anticipated M1 money supplies has been quantified. • 26. What Is The Theme Of The Pie By Gary Soto At some point in almost everyone s childhood, there is a moment of deliberate wrongdoing, followed by panic and guilt. Perhaps it is standing on the water spout outside the house and neglecting to inform an adult when the pipe breaks and spews water into the backyard. Maybe it is lying to a parent about the whereabouts of a dollar after the ice cream truck goes by. For author Gary Soto, it was stealing a piefrom the neighborhood grocery store. In his autobiography, Soto recounts the story and emotions of his six year old self taking an apple pie off the rack and walking home with it, only to be overwhelmed by a guilt ridden conscience. He is reminded of the angelic grocer, and even though he is beginning to feel horrible continues to stuff his face with pie. Cross Eyed Johnny comments, your hands are dirty, before [climbing] his roof to watch the other boy eat. This once again brings up the symbolism of dirty hands, as though they are tainted with sin. The symbolism intensifies as Cross Eyed Johnny [jumps] off and [hobbles] away because the fall had hurt him . This represents a fall from grace, for the young Soto has committed perhaps the worst sin of his six year long life. He begins to feel paranoid and sees the pie tin [glaring] at [him] and feeling his face sticky with guilt . The personification of the pie tin shows that the boy feels like he is being watched and judged for his sin, and wet imagery is once again used to describe the stickiness of guilt. In looking at the case between CCP Management, Inc. and Andrew Hoganmuller the logical place to start is looking at a few terms, then considering the material facts and issues, next exploring what case law has found in the past, and finally determining the outcome of the dispute. Here are some terms we must consider in this case: A contract involves a promise in return for reasonable consideration. Adequate consideration is a benefit or detriment, which a party receives which reasonably and fairly induces them to make the promise/contract. State statutory, common law, and private laws govern all contracts. Private law may supersede many of the rules otherwise established by state law. Statutory law often requires some contracts to be in writing and executed with particular formalities (Contract, n.d.). An offer must be stated and delivered in a way that would lead a reasonable person to expect a binding contract to arise from its acceptance (Offer, n.d.). Suppose a pot is taken and the exterior surface is considered the enclosed surface mentioned in the law, and the circumference of the bottom is considered to be the closed curve. When the equation uses the term i , it actually means the current enclosed within the path, piercing through the surface. If the pot were shaped in such a way that the wire carrying current ended inside the pot after piercing through and coming out, current enclosed would be 0. This either means that dl and the magnetic field are always perpendicular (cosine 90 = 0), or that the magnetic field itself is 0. Both are impossible and there lies the contradiction. Much of the pollution that can be found in the Duck Creek watershed is coming from nonpoint source (NPS) pollution. Nonpoint source pollution significantly contributes to the deterioration of water quality due to the difficulty in identifying, assessing and controlling the sources of this type of pollution (citation Wang). This pollution is caused by runoff moving over the land. It picks up and carries away natural and human made pollutants, finally depositing them into lakes, streams, rivers, wetlands and even our underground sources of drinking water (citation SCSWCD). As it states in a Long Walk To Water, The old woman gave Salva a bag of peanuts and a gourd for drinking water (Park, 22). This shows that Salva meeting the old woman is a miracle because he got housing for a few days and food and a gourd for water. This may not seem that important however when Salva was crossing the Akobo desert if Salva didn t have the old woman s gourd to hold water he could have died of dehydration. A second theme in A Long Walk to Water that helps Salva survive is familybeing the most important resource. This relates to Slava s survival because Salva depends on his Uncle for food, water, and protection. Like it states in A Long Walk to Water, Now that Salva was without Uncle s care and protection, the group attitude toward him changed.... No one shared anything with him, neither food nor company. Uncle had always shared the animals and birds he shot with everyone in the group (Park, 65 66). This shows that Salva relied on Uncle for most of what he needed to survive and as verbalized before Salva uses Uncle like an asset for survival. So without Uncle, Salva may have not survive at all because Uncle was the one who provided most of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Joy Luck Club Narrative Style In The Joy Luck Club, Tan has purposely externalized the eight characters mental world by allowing each of them to tell her own story in a deceptively simple manner, thus allowing the reader to plunge into the mind of the characters. The motives, desires, pains, pleasures, and concerns of the characters are thereby effectively dramatized. This particular writing strategy allows Tan to transcend the conventional novelistic dichotomy of preferred showing and undesirable telling. The stories thus tell us a great deal about individual characters, their reaction to each other, and their activities together. The Joy Luck Club is a bridge uniting both space and time. It connects the sixteen intricately interlocking stories and helps to reveal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Unlike Tan s other novels, which are based on oral narratives of mothers, this story develops by the act of documenting past. Ruth who is the ghost writer, major character, starts to amend her life by initiating a unique creative writing, with all immaculate insight that she has attained about herself. In other words, by looking back and by the power of recalling past memories, Ruth has obtained a new vision of future; as she writes the story of her mother and her grandmother, she reveals her vision, in the closing words of the novel, They write about what happened, why it happened, how they can make other things happen. They write stories of things that are but should not have been. They write about what could have been, what still might be. They write of a past that can be changed. Ruth discovers the answer to her philosophical questions about life. Interestingly, this insight belongs to a feminine sphere and its instructors are all women who share their memories with their daughters, to protect them from hazards of life. • 42. Justification And Justification For The Act Of Being Set... The simple noun justification refers to the act of being set right or made right. Justification, however, is not just limited to just being corrected. It has influences in other various meanings to it as well. For example, justification also means the act of removing debt, being vindicated by judge, or having a relationship restored all fall under the meaning of justification. This is essentially Gods act of removing the sin within us humans while considering us to be righteous through Christ s sacrifice. As stated in Christ Our Salvation , Those who are righteous will live by faith(Larondelle, 10). This means that justification must exist in order to have people who live by faith and for these people to be saved and redeemed. Justification helps to show that we humans are in need of daily justification through faith in Christ (Abrams, 97). Sanctification is defined to be the act or process by which people are cleansed and set apart from others to do God s will. Some synonyms used in the New Interpreter s Dictionary of the Bible are: to be set apart, to dedicate, to purify, to make sacred, and to manifest holiness. The Dictionary states that to be sanctified is to be graciously taken up and set apart for participation in the saving or reconciling purposes of God. For Christians, this happens when they become and remain part of the community of God s people, who are shaped by the Holy Spirit in the image of God. This is where God makes us Holy. In the 18th century, women were only given the power to submit to bear children, submit to their husband, and be a housewife.
