Essay Swami Vivekananda
Crafting an essay on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda is undoubtedly a challenging
yet profoundly rewarding task. The difficulty lies not in the scarcity of information but in the
vastness and depth of the subject matter. Swami Vivekananda, a key figure in the introduction of
the Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world, led a life marked by
intellectual brilliance, spiritual wisdom, and social reform.
The challenge begins with the need to navigate through a plethora of historical records,
philosophical texts, and biographical accounts. Swami Vivekananda's journey, from his early life
in India to his influential speeches at the World's Parliament of Religions in Chicago, offers a
rich tapestry that demands careful unraveling. Understanding the nuances of his thoughts,
encompassing Vedanta, the concept of oneness, and the practical application of spirituality in
daily life, requires a profound engagement with his writings and speeches.
Moreover, the essay must not merely be a chronological account but should delve into the impact
of Swami Vivekananda's ideas on the socio-cultural and religious landscape of his time and
beyond. Analyzing the relevance of his teachings in the contemporary world adds an additional
layer of complexity. To capture the essence of his message, one must skillfully navigate through
the labyrinth of spiritual, philosophical, and societal dimensions.
Balancing reverence for the subject while maintaining an objective and analytical perspective
poses another challenge. Striking the right chord between admiration and critical evaluation
requires finesse. Additionally, expressing the profound impact of Swami Vivekananda's words
on individuals and societies without resorting to clichГ©s demands a nuanced approach to
language and rhetoric.
In conclusion, while the task of writing an essay on Swami Vivekananda may seem formidable,
it is a journey worth undertaking. It requires not only a deep understanding of the subject but
also a commitment to articulating his ideas in a way that resonates with readers. The effort
invested in unraveling the layers of his life and teachings results in an essay that pays homage to
a visionary who transcended cultural and geographical boundaries.

Robin Hood and Feudalism
ROBIN HOOD In the years of King Richard the Lionheart (1189 1199) there lived a
brave and intelligent man called Robin Hood. He was a feared outlaw, who loved
liberty and hated oppression. He took the law into his own hands and robbed the
rich to give to the poor. People loved him and thought of him as a justice maker. In
time he acquired a heroic reputation and came to represent the ideal of heroism of
his age. Stories about him and his closest friends Friar Tuck, Little John, and Maid

A lord would grant land to another noble in exchange for protection and military
services. This grant was called a fief. Those who received fiefs were called vassals.
Within the fief, the vassal was the highest authority. Fiefs could be various seizes.
Some were single estates just big enough for a knight and his family. Others were
large, as big as an entire country or province. The vassals promised the lord
military services. Military service was their main obligation. This service was
usually limited to forty days a year. Vassals also owed payments call aids on
certain occasions. When a lord s oldest daughter married the vassal made special
payments as a gift. The vassal also had to pay for the arming of the lords oldest son
when he became a knight. Vassals pledged to pay the ransom for their lord in the
event of his capture during war. A vassal s son usually inherited his father s
responsibility to serve and pay aids. Before receiving the fief, the son had to pay a
fee called a relief. The amount of payment all depended on the size of the fief. The
lord in turn, had obligations to his vassals. He promised the vassal protection and
could not deny the vassal s claim to the fief. If at any time an outsider tried to steal
the vassal s fief, the lord would join in with his other knights to aid him. Levack
states: The bond of loyalty between lord and vassal was formalized by an oath. The

The Battle Of Normandy And World War II
D Day Research Paper
D Day was one of the largest amphibious invasions in history(History.com). While
preparation for the operation was extensive, it resulted in the liberation of France
(from the Germans), which later resulted Allies winning the Battle of Normandy and
World War II (History.com). Now D Day can be broken down into four main
components: the planning of the invasion, the weather conditions, the Atlantic Wall,
and the execution/success. There is no doubt that D Day was integral to the Allies
victory in World War II, for even an article written by History.com says The
Normandy landings have been called the beginning of the end of war in Europe.

The Allies did indeed put a huge effort into their training, for Stephen E Ambrose
writes No matter how brilliant the plan, no matter how effective the deception, no
matter how intense the preinvasion sea and air bombardment, Overlord would fail if
the assault squads did not advance. (Ambrose 133).
The Allies had begun loading their equipment on May 31, 1944, with plans to launch
Operation Overlord on June 5(Ambrose 173). With countless months of planning of
training, they Allies were ready to move forward with their invasion. However, a
complication popped up that could have completely derailed the operation; the
weather (Klein).
The weather, which had been beautiful clear skies, little wind for the first three
days of June, began to deteriorate says a quote from D Day Illustrated Edition:
June 6, 1944: The Climactic Battle of World War (Ambrose, 195). The day of the
invasion (June 4), an Allied weather conference was held (Ambrose 197). At that
conference, an Allied Meteorologist Captain J. M. Stagg, delivered his weather
predictions, which was bad news to the Allies (Ambrose 197). Captain Stagg had
predicted that June 5 (the originally planned date of the D Day invasion) would
experience stormy weather conditions (Ambrose 197). This weather certainly would
have disrupted the Allies planned

Examples Of Innocence In The Separate Peace
Yes I believe you have to leave some of your innocence behind when you grow up. It
doesn t matter the age you are and what the situation is. There are certain things that
everyone learns at different times and some things you learn might make you feel
guilty. If you might of did something wrong and you have to admit it, your innocence
will be lost when you get asked that question. We think of innocent when we are not
guilty for the situation, but if we are your innocence is no longer with you in a way.
You will always be innocent and guilty at the same time you might have not done
something then but you might later or the other way around.
In the book The Separate Peace Gene jerked the tree and which he was guilty for

Analysis Of The Next Exhibit Planned For The Museum
In accordance with the board meeting s decision, the next exhibit planned for the
museum will be focused around the struggles faced by civilians on the southern home
front during the American Civil War. Although controversial due to recent events
surrounding Confederate symbolism in America, the focus of the exhibit will be
unique and powerful in its depiction of the conflicts surrounding daily life. When
speaking of war, the common man is pushed to the side in favor of the glory of battle
and the stories of the citizens are left unsaid. With the Union victory over the
Confederacy, the experiences of those living within the South were devalued in
comparison to their northern counterparts. Many museums and articles exist that
explore life in the North, but only a handful have been done for those of the
Confederacy. The exhibit s goal will be to showcase these untold experiences through
the objects left behind by those who lived under the northern siege. Five objects were
chosen as the centerpiece of the exhibit and to demonstrate four main hardships that
southern civilians lived through. A photograph of the ruins of Richmond, Virginia
and a sketch of the bombardment of Petersburg, Virginia speak of how the threat of
death was a constant companion for those living in the South. The serious shortages
of commodities along with the rampant inflation plaguing the Southern economy are
illustrated by an almanac printed during the siege of Vicksburg, Mississippi and a

The Chosen Often featured in literature are dynamic and static characters. Static
characters are characters that do not undergo any type of change, usage they are
described in one word. Dynamic characters are characters that undergo change
throughout a work of literature. The changes vary; some are more dynamic than
others. The novel, The Chosen by Chaim Potok has many dynamic characters,
which go through various changes as the novel progresses. The Chosen is a coming

Framework on the traditional oil and gas upstream industry in the UK. The
company of my choice is EnQuest PLC, the largest UK independent oil producer in
the UK North Sea. 1.About The Model Porter s Five Forces model is designed to
assess the attractiveness of an industry based on the actual or potential competition
through the following five forces: Rivalry Among Existing Competitors; Threat of
New Entrants; Bargaining Power of Buyers; Bargaining Power of Suppliers; Threat
of Substitute Products or Services (Johnson et al., 2014). The framework is a holistic
approach to analysing any industry and is based on the principle that the stronger the
five forces are, the less attractive it is to compete. Hence, high threat of new entrants
and substitutes combined with high bargaining power of buyers and suppliers
diminishes industry profitability (Porter 2008). 1.1 Advantages Historically, the Five
Forces Framework has
Article Report On The Law And Safety Codes Essay
Article Summary
I selected the article Duty to Warn and Protect: Not in Texas for review, as it
applies to the state in which I reside. The article cites Texas Health and Safety
Codes, based on a 1999 Texas Supreme Court ruling that states counselors do not
have a duty to warn or protect. Having a duty to warn and protect is defined as
protecting clients or others from perceived harm (Jackson Cherry Erford, 2014). An
example would be that a client tells their counselor in a confidential session that he is
considering stabbing his ex girlfriend. The duty to warn would mean the counselor
should notify authorities and the ex girlfriend thus breaking confidentiality. The duty
to protect would be to admit client to a facility for the client to be assessed for a
propensity for violence towards the ex girlfriend. This became important after a
1969 incident where a counselor, had a client expressed harm towards a girl and the
counselor contacted the authorities, yet never contacted the girl, who was
subsequently killed by the client a few months later, known as the Tarasoff v.
Regents of the University of California case (Jackson Cherry Erford, 2014).
The article Duty to Warn and Protect: Not in Texascites the 1999 Texas Supreme
court decision in the case Thapar v. Zezulka; which stated that counselors do not
have a duty to warn and protect because it breaks client/counselor confidentiality
(Barbee, Combs, Ekleberry, Villalobos, 2007). As a result of the 1999 ruling the
Binary Oppisition Essay
Binary Opposition
In Greek tragedy there are many themes that are contrasted with each other. This is
known as binary opposition, which s defined as a contrast of themes that are the
opposite poles of each other. There are many conflicts in Euripides Medea and
Bacchae: perhaps the three most conspicuous oppositions are rational versus
irrational, foreigner versus natives, and stereotypical dichotomy of female and male.
The first binary opposite in Euripides plays are rational versus irrational thinking, his
characters are changing constantly within the plays; there are a couple of characters
that stays in a rational thinking which they do not favor any side of the conflict. In
Medea, Euripides showed rational thinking through the ... Show more content on

As they were on their way to worship Dionysus they see Pentheus and stopped to talk
with him (212). Pentheus started to speak about how he was out of the city and
heard rumors of the women leaving their homes and rather engage in cult
gathering and each lady is slinks off in a different direction (216 225). He speaks
about how [Semele] lied about her union with Zeus and that he is not a god (244).
But Tiresias replies back to Pentheus that [w]henever a wise man sets out to argue
an honest case it s no great undertaking to argue well (266 67). Tiresias also states
that Pentheus rejoice whenever crowds gather at the palace gates and the city
glorifies [your] name... Dionysus too, ... takes delight in receiving [the same] honor
(319 21). In the mean time Cadmus also explains that [e]ven if the god does not
exist, as you claim, let him be considered a god in your eyes. Lies for good cause... In
this way [Semele] might seem to have given birth to a god and honor might accrue to
our entire family (332 36). Equally important, that Pentheus and Dionysus constantly
change from rational to irrational thinking throughout the play. Pentheus thinks
irrationally about what the women behavior is while they are in the mountains (354).
He believes that the women are in acts of lust with Aphrodite s pleasure (225). As for
Dionysus irrational thinking is when he punishes his family for their hybris acts
towards him (1347). Although there is a rational and irrational
Sovereignty and Stephen A. Douglas Essay
On March 6, 1857 the controversial ruling of the Dred Scott vs. Stanford case was
given causing dissention in the nation. The Supreme Court ruled over whether
Dred Scott was a free slave and if slavery will expand to the new territories. The
Court permitted slavery in the New Territories. It declared Scott was property, and
therefore he was not free based on the Fifth Amendment, which says the right to
property cannot be infringed upon. This meant he was not a free man even though
he had returned from a free state. The Court decided that slaves were not American
citizens. Meaning Scott or any other slave did not have the right to sue in federal
court. This caused major issues between four major political groups: the Fire Eaters,

Third, secession is not the option. Secession is mentioned multiple times by the
Fire Eaters and they need to realize that this will destroy our Nation. They are
thinking too morally, and only about losing their way of life they have known for
so long. They cannot picture a life without their property , whom are actually
human beings of a different race, to beat and force to work for them inhumanly.
They need to come to an understanding that there can be a compromise for them to
obtain what they want. They can do this by agreeing that slavery remains where it
is already established, and the new territories are decided on through popular
sovereignty. This way slavery is not abolished and they still have a chance of the
practice of it being extended to some of the new territories. Adding to the problem
of their idea of secession. It is not plausible at all. How do they plan to decide
which border states will succeed and which will stay in the union? Also, how do
they plan to live a sustainable life? The North and the South rely on each other for
economic survival. It would be turmoil if they were to secede. Douglas claimed
secession was a criminal act, therefore by seceding the Fire Eaters are disobeying
the law and can be punished for it. Based on this point, secession would cause a war
between the divided Nations, meaning major blood shed of the American people. Are
the Fire Eaters actually willing to sacrifice their life to fight for the institution of
Manipulation Of Cloud Mooding
There has been a lot of speculation as to whether people can control the weather or
not. This is a well known conspiracy and is widely thought to be true. Many experts
believe this is true and back it up with factual evidence. Many accounts of weather
manipulation conspiracies are very common in our society and are not far fetched due
to the technology that is present with cloud seeding as a harmful way to manipulate
the weather which inserts artificial chemicals in the ionosphere to create rain,
therefore this is negatively affecting our weather by intensifying storms and
damaging our atmosphere, although governments would like to create rain for crops
to grow and for more water supplies but this is a dangerous and harmful way to
manipulate our environment.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cloud seeding is a way to control the amount of precipitation that clouds produce by
inserting silver iodide into the atmosphere by use of jet aircraft that release these
chemicals. This seems harmless enough, but toxic chemicals are also produced
during cloud seeding procedures. These toxic chemicals can consist of Aluminum,
Barium, Strontium, Arsenic, and other substances that are harmful to humans. There
are artificial clouds along with natural clouds in our atmosphere. These artificial
clouds can affect our atmosphere and release harmful chemicals. The aerial spraying
of toxic substances is denied by the U.S. government and by officials of other nations.
This is untrue because these governments are the people held responsible for the
methods of cloud seeding. They insist that the new clouds that are seen are just
normal jet streams. What is it that the government is trying to hide from the people?

The Importance Of Wisdom And Love In Literature
Many characters in books show wisdom and love when they meet serious problems
or crossroads especially when the problem and the crossroads relate to their family
or their friends. Wisdom and love are great topics in literature, because almost
every theme is related to wisdom or love in some way. Love helps characters to
think more seriously and with more detail when they are facing serious problems or
crossroads. Wisdom helps characters make better choices or decisions. In The
Wizard of Ozby L. Frank Baumand That was Then, This is Now by S.E. Hinton,
Scarecrow and Bryon showed wisdom and love when Scarecrow and Bryon
influenced their friends and family by serious incidents which happened around them.
In The Wizard of Oz, the Scarecrow showed wisdom because he decided to escape
from the Kalidahs, crossed the huge river, and saved Dorothy and friends from the
crows attack. For example, Scarecrow gives an idea to make bridge with big tree to
save Dorothy and her friend, including himself from Kalidahs attack. Scarecrow says,
Here is a great tree, standing close to the ditch. If the Tin Woodmancan chop it down,
so that it will fall to the other side, we can walk across it easily. By this idea,
Scarecrow saved himself and his friends. If he didn t, maybe he and his friends
would die. But because of his Idea, Dorothy and her friends saved their lives and
could continue their journey to Emerald City. For second example, Scarecrow asked
Tin Woodman to build the raft, so they

Why Did the Communist Party Win the 1935 Election Simulation? In a time where
the economy is suffering and people are struggling, a strong government is needed
to help everyone achieve success. As a result, the Communist party won the 1935
election simulation because their leader addressed the concerns of nearly every
voting bloc, they had eye catching posters with a memorable slogan, and they
targeted the Conservatives, one of the main political parties. First and foremost,
Tim Buck, the leader of the Communist party, addressed the concerns of nearly
every voting bloc at the election. One of the concerns of recent immigrants was the
perception that they will work for less and are taking away jobs from the other
Canadians. Thus, Tim addressed the concern and assured a positive change, as he

voters. Each poster contained the same slogan which was easy to remember and

much the Communists posters affected people s votes, 17 people responded and
65% that the posters greatly affected their decision to vote for the Communists.
From one of the voters point of view, The posters were vibrant compared to others

may have subconsciously remembered the Communists as the ones with the bright

they were not aware of it. Finally, the leader attacked the
MГ©tis Argumentative Essay
I believe the MГ©tis became the least unified as the result of confederation.
To begin with, in 1869, The Government of Canada, Great Britain, and the Hudson s
Bay Company sign an agreement whereby Rupert s land is sold to the Dominion of
Canada. MГ©tis, Indians, and settlers are not consulted. And this event affects at

he kept his word. For want of local support, the Fenian attack died before it had

Lastly, Suggestions based on today s society I think that the MГ©tis will not be the
least unified in today s society because others don t have the right to sell others land
without permission so they will not be spread.
Finally, Those are the reasons that I believe the MГ©tis are the least unified as the
result of confederation because they lost more than
Social Isolation And Social Discrimination
EMPLOYMENT Social isolation, commonly experienced by people with
disabilities, is caused by physical barriers to social events or exclusion created by
society. These exclusions frequently include disadvantages in the labor market
(Vornholt, Uitdewilligen Nijuisused, 2013). The opportunity to work can be
important to people with disabilities because it is one way to reduce the threat of
social isolation. However, according to the United States Department of Labor,
only 17.9% of people with disabilities were employed, compared to 65.3% of their
non disabled counterparts (2016). It is widely accepted that people believe
attractiveness to be associated with goodness, and this is often demonstrated in the
recruitment process. In a study by Stevenage and McKay (2009), people with facial
disfigurements received worse ratings in personal qualities and job skills, resulting
in a significantly diminished likelihood of a job offer. Further, employers frequently
express concerns regarding hiring and retaining employees with disabilities (Unger,
2002). According to Unger (2002), these concerns reflect deeply rooted
discriminatory attitudes towards people with disabilities and the misperception of
accommodations being costly and ineffective. Even after securing employment, it
appears people with disabilities still face challenges related to negative perceptions
of their disabilities. Approximately 60 70% of charges filed under Americans with

Business Ethics, Its Current Practices And Various Aspects
Current Issue pertaining to Business ethics, its current practices and various aspects:
Discrimination related to the employment in the businesses is one of the major
ethical issues nowadays. It creates many problems in the workplace and can reduce
the motivation level, loyalty and commitment with the firms. Discrimination on
workplace can be defined as the imbalanced or unequal treatment with employees
based on biases. This biasness may be based on age, sex, race, ethnicity, nation,
language, religion and disability of employees etc. It is the right of the people to be
treated equally and provision of equal opportunities without any discrimination in any
sense. The discrimination has many forms in the firms like unequal pay
compensations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Discrimination affects adversely to the organization due to the increased number of
turnover and low productivity. It also harms the reputation of the organization. When
employees are being treated differently on particular bases, then they lose their focus
on the work and there is wastage of time and resources.
Although the practice of discrimination is unlawful by the Civil Rights Act of 1964
and it is forbidden to discriminate on the basis of color, religion, sex and race, still it
is being practiced in the US on the very large scale.Highest numbers of discrimination
in workplaces were recorded in US in recent age, according to the results of US Equal
Employment Opportunity Commission (Triana, Maria). This commission explores
about the issues of discrimination and settles the matters by negotiating with parties
and giving compensation to the employees, who are being discriminated. The
compensation is may be in the form of promotions, cash payments or by providing
the better employment opportunities.
Workplace discrimination is not only ethically wrong but it also causes great
expenses to the employer. It may result in the high rate of turnover, low commitment,
productivity and sometimes
Transition Into Employment
In this week s material , we discuss the process of building a resume and how to
effectively apply and interview for employment. This week s chapters emphasized the
importance of structure, key words, and audience when it comes to writing a resume
or application letter. It is crucial to know one s audience and be able to present
themselves on their resume and in the interview . The material this week also touches
upon how to find opportunities in the job market and tips to help understand the
transition into employment. Among the chapters , specifically in Chapter 19, the
textbook discusses the interview process, different types of interviews , and the
preparation for a job interview. As stated in the chapter, most employers request

Abstract
People who were hospitalized with mental illness had a high risk of death and short
life span from physical disorders even in Nordic or Scandinavian countries that have
most socially progressive healthcare. This research study were compared the number
of deaths from circulatory system diseases in patients with bipolar and schizophrenia
and reviewed the life expectancy in these patients. The results showed a huge decline
in life expectancy of ten to twenty years in patients with schizophrenia and slightly
smaller in bipolar patients, both when compared to the general population.
Life Span and Mortality from Physical Ailments in
Patients with Bipolar Disorder or Schizophrenia in Scandinavia The higher number
of deaths from physical disorders in patients with schizophrenia and bipolar
disorder has been well established (Bushe et al., 2010; Manderbaka et al. , 2012).
The most common cause of death such as cardiovascular diseases in the Nordic or
Scandinavian countries, that have the most socially progressive healthcare, has
dropped recently but not for men and women in the same region who had been
hospitalized due to bipolar disorder or schizophrenia. The number of deaths from
cardiovascular diseases is excessive (Osby et al.,
Optimism And Pessimism In The Great Gatsby
I believe that the three texts that I have studied contained moments of optimism and
pessimism which in turn have shaped my opinion of the general vision and
viewpoint. This alludes to the feelings and emotions portrayed through the omniscient
camera in The King s Speech , the morally inclined narrator Nick Caraway in The
Great Gatsbyand the protagonist in the novel Foster . I was very intrigued to find out
more about these societies and the vision the author/director hoped to convey.
The Great Gatsby opens in the boom years in the summer of 1922, commonly
known as the Jazz Age . The opening is conveyed as a mix of optimism and
pessimism. At first we are introduced to Nick Caraway,

In T.K.S, Bertie faced a barbaric upbringing which he solemnly shared with Logue.
This is evident when he revealed how cruel his nanny was, tunelessly singing She
pinch me so I d cry, and be sent away at once, then she wouldn t feed me, far far
away. (speaks) Took three years for my parents to notice. As you can imagine, it
caused some stomach problems. This left me feeling much more sympathetic
towards Bertie and further implemented my pessimistic opinion of the portrayal of
children in the past. This is also seen in T.G.G as Pammy, Daisy s daughter is only
seen once during the entire 1920 s novel and we realise that she, like Bertie, had
nannies who took care off her rather than her parents. A sense of negativity is also
conveyed towards children here as Gatsby ,when first introduced to Pammy, was
described as looking at the child with surprise. I don t think he had ever believed in
its existence. she is described as an it and Gatsby then realises that he can t repeat
the past with Daisy and that his obsessive longing for her was a waste of time. I
believe that this pessimistic feeling was a factor in his volatility towards Tom in
the Plaza. Similarly in Foster , Mildred like a predator, pounced on the innocent
protagonist and questioned her about the Kinsella s personal affairs such as where
does the old dog sleep, Is she allowed to spend.... . Mildred then inconsiderately
informed the little girl of the Kinsella s boy s passing, stating sure didn t he follow
that auld hound of theirs into the slurry tank and drown...... The soft hearted fool. in
a callous tone. Personally I feel that each of the narrators set out to portray children s

Music, or more specifically singing, is an inseparable part of the average American

Nuclear Power Essay
Nuclear power is a technology that has enormous benefits for humankind. As the
demand for energy is only continuing to grow, it has become important to develop
energy technology that has good yield and minimal negative side effects. After the
harnessing of the atom for use in nuclear weapons, the knowledge of how to exploit
the atom became incorporated in nuclear powerplants (Corradini 1). These use
uranium fuel in a process that releases tremendous amounts of energy to be captured,
but also that creates minimal waste and other byproducts. Despite these, the benefits
of nuclear energy outweigh any disadvantages, as seen by its high energy output,
reliability, and minimal environmental impact when compared to energy sources such
as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to this, the usage of nuclear power is expected to expand in the future.
In order to keep up with the aforementioned rising global energy demand, electricity
generated via nuclear power is, by 2030, projected to increase by 29% from the 2.7
trillion kilowatt hours of energy generated in 2006 (Adamantiades). This increase
will be footed by the creation of new nuclear power plants all around the world. For
example, the United Nations has been approached by more than 40 developing
countries, ranging from the Gulf to Latin America, about beginning nuclear energy
programs. As well, 21 new reactors are under construction and 150 are being
planned in Asia. Further plans exist or are being discussed to increase the nuclear
energy output of countries such as Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico (Adamantiades).
Overall, the high output of nuclear energy is providing and will continue to provide
a practical energy source which can fill the global energy demand. Another primary
component of nuclear power s appeal is its high energy density; that is, the fuel used
for nuclear power can generally produce more electricity than can be produced by an
equivalent amount of fuel in a different power plant technology. For example, coal
fired plants, which meet the most of the global energy demand, are capable of
generating 0.35 megawatt days of electricity for every metric ton of coal burned. By

Chiroptera I am doing my report on the Chiroptera order, this order is what bats are
categorized into. Bats are mammals whose forelimbs form webbed wings; this
makes them the only mammals capable of true flight. The web consists of two layers
of skin, which is only a little connective tissues containing blood vessels, nerves, and
muscles. Their wings have great evaporative surfaces, causing these mammals to need
much more water or moist food compared to other mammals of equal size. The
Chiroptera is a very interesting and unique order, my goal in this report is to bring to
light what makes these mammals so fun to learn about, and that they are not as
harmful as commonly thought. One of the interesting things about this order is that
even though it s commonly believed that they have poor eyesight it is actually the
opposite, bats can see very well. Yet even with their good eyesight they depend
mostly on their echolocation. They focus in on insects by emitting high pitched
sounds that bounce off the insects to help them pinpoint their exact location. The
sounds they emit usually only last from 5 to 10 milliseconds; each ... Show more

Conservation Of Liquid With A Three Year Old
Conservation of Liquid with a Three year old Cindy Louie San Jose State
University Conservation of Liquid with a Three year old Jean Piaget is a
developmental psychologist who studied young children and analyzed their
development at a young age. Piaget is well known for his four cognitive
development stages: sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete, and formal operations;
as mentioned by Siegler and Alibali (2004). Siegler and Alibali (2004) also stated
that these four stages begin as soon as the child is born and it continues throughout
their young adolescent years all the way to adulthood. Piaget conducted numerous
research experiments towards young children in order to prove his hypothesis and

During this stage, children may develop mental representations but lack ability to
think logically and understand reversibility. Siegler and Alibali (2004) explained
that between the ages of 6 to 12 years old, a child has the ability to learn perception
and take information from multiple sources and piece them together. This type of
development is also critical in the cognitive stages of a child, because it develops
awareness and it allows them to experience world real recognition. This is the third
stage of cognitive development, also known as the operational stage. The
conservation of liquid task will be apparent in distinguishing a child who is either
in the pre operational stage or operational stage due to their abilities mentioned
previously. I do not agree with Piaget s conclusion about limiting this experiment to
older school aged children because through early education and awareness, any
children can pass this experiment. Since Piaget was the only one that transferred the
water from one cup into the taller one, the children probably thought it was some
kind of magic trick. For this modification, I allowed my little cousin, Waverly, to
pour the water into the cup to show that I did not do anything to tinker with the
water, and everything she saw is literally in front of her eyes.
The Technological Advances Of The Great Gatsby
1.Introduction Ever since the fall we have not been unable to physically restore
our glorious Eden experience, nor could we fix the mistake that Adam started with
either good living or hard work. No council could be gathered; no theologian could
negotiate his or her way out of our deserving judgment. We were indebted with sin,
unable to choose right from wrong. God s creation was just running around since
birth with no clue as to who are or what was if any power was in us. We are like
blind sheep aimlessly moving about with no direction, guidance or supervision.
But is that the case? Are we helplessly wrapped in flesh and totally depraved as
normal human beings? Depraved seems like such a solemn condition for such a
sophisticated race of people who have achieved so many great things. Consider the
technological advances we have accomplished, such as moving from horse driven
wagons to electric powered cars or only communicating via close proximity to
communicating via cell phones and email. There was a time when all people lived
in tents or makeshift homes, however, now were capable of erecting buildings
hundreds of stories in the air. Was God, not apart of this? Did He not use these
people? Was He not aware of our abilities before we were conceived? The depraved
state of humans would suggest we are in some parts incapable of good. How could
one be total depraved, without hope, and still able to do all these things?
Nevertheless, some would think that depravity means we

product. This enabled Evernote to stay away from legal troubles with the internet
censors in China.
2. Speed and functionality
Setting up data centers in the United States would impact connection speed and turn

An Effective Educational Environment Within The Church
Essay
If the Minister of Education ever wishes to instill an effective educational
environment within the church, he must not depend on his own understanding or
abilities, he must model everything he does after Jesus. The Gospels are overflowing
with accounts of the teaching ministry of Jesus. Furthermore, the most frequently
used tittle for Jesusin the New Testament, being used forty five times, was teacher ,
and the tittle Rabbi , meaning teacher, was used fourteen times. The writers of the
New Testament held Jesus Christ in such high regard that they referred to Him as a
teacher or Rabbi more often than they called Him by name. Jesus was largely
known as a great teacher, the Master Teacher. As the Master Teacher, Jesus
employed a variety of teaching methods such as parables, object lessons, dialogue,
comparisons, poetry, hyperbole and puns. Jesus employed these techniques so he
could reach a wide variety of people.
Jesus was creative in His use of methods to teaching a wide variety of persons in an
equally wide variety of situations. Though creative, He maintained an educational
balance between the traditions of His people and the more complete revelation of
God s will for humankind.
Jesus, while He was one with God (John 10:30), taught mankind from a human
position so that they would understand the words he spoke. As Jesus utilized many
different teaching methods to reach numerous types of people, so should the Minister
of Education. There is always going to be diversity

Jewish People During The Holocaust
The Holocaust was one of the most acknowledged genocides due to hundreds of first
hand accounts from Jews in the form of diaries, memoirs, and statements from the
people themselves. Among these Jews were Anne Frank, Leon Leyson, Jeannine
Burk, Yitzhak Rudashevski, David Rubinowicz, and Moshe Flinker. Some of these
Jewsaccounts were analyzed by Jacob Boas in his book, We Are Witnesses. Anne
Frank s experience during the Holocaustgenerally differed from other Jews in
hiding because of her family s situation and the luck they had. Her daily life and
lasting emotional effects strongly contrasted from Jewish people who lived in
ghettos and small rooms, like Leyson and Burk. Anne s access to food and supplies
and the aid and support from others depended on her family s ability to plan and
think ahead. She and Rudashevski were able to establish a sense of normalcy in their
lives while living as Jews that often faced persecution, although they turned to
different activities to divert their attention away from the mass deaths occurring
around them. Through their words and writings, the world has observed the different
experiences and reactions of the Jews who faced the abhorrent racial discriminations
from Nazis and gentiles.
Daily life for Jewish people during the Holocaust largely varied, depending on mainly
their luck and their ability to think ahead. Anne Frank, according to the information
given from her diary and the play, lived in a large attic compared to unfortunate
Violence And Sexual Assault And Violence Against Women
Intro
Throughout history especially within recent years there has been a major rise of
sexual assault and violence against women. This is prevalent within college
campuses, within work, the military, within family households and nearly all parts
of society there is no getting away from it. It is truly a shame and a wretched part
of society. However, this needs to be brought to light. This can no longer be avoided
and society needs to come together as a whole, in order to stop this. Throughout this
essay we are going to go over the statistical background of violence and sexual
assault towards women, sexual assault on college campuses, the emotional abuse of
those affected, and why Victims don t come forward. Then a step by step
breakdown of how we can rid society from these unacceptable acts of violence and
sexual assault towards woman. Before exploring the deeper aspects of violence and
sexual assault towards woman, it s important to have a historical foundation and
statistics.
Background statistics
Within the United states the National Sexual violation and resource center has

that one in five woman will be raped within their life time(NSVRC). If this isn t

What Does T.S. Eliot’s the Waste Land Tell Us About...
What does T.S. Eliot s the Waste Land tell us about modern spaces ?
T.S. Eliot s The Waste Land tells us about modern spaces in various aspects. The
modern space is presented as a dark, unrelenting place that is fragmented through
time and space .The structure of the poem is not created in any logical sense because
of the abstract elements that help make up the overall style of the structure.
Intertextuality is evident in the poem because it references other poets, although there
is a sense of critique in some of these indications. Spirituality is evident in the poem
too because of the aftermath of the World War, which is the main reason for the
wasted land . Industrialism brought out critique from Elliot because it involved ...

This was of course, due to the aftermath of the First World War, with the devastation
of the deaths, and the remains of the trenches, leading people to question the
legitimacy of Christianity. The Waste Landis reflective of these times, with
references to spirituality and new ideas of religion. The line I had not thought
death had un done so many highlights these thoughts of the time of London during
the effects of the post war. According to David Ward, it took TS Elliot a long time
before he could give an assent belief in Christianity and The Waste Land plays a cat
and mouse game with stubborn vestiges of faith, but ends uncertain which is cat
and which is mouse (Ward, pp.75, 1973). Certain critics dismissed Elliot s late
spirituality because, according to Marxist and Freudian, Eliot, after looking deep
into the abyss in The Waste Land, had closed his eyes in horror and stumbled back
into a childish and outdated faith in a childish and outdated God (Bottum, 1995).
However, it could be said that Elliot didn t believe in God, and that his poetry was
not about faith s wait for God, but the hollow man s wait for faith.
Industrialism is another key theme in The Waste Land that invokes modern spaces
because Elliot views modernism to be represented by industrialism, which causes
separation between the general population s body and soul. Bryan Boyce states Elliot

that accompanies Voldemort s arrival. Harry, two friends Ron and Hermione, along
with the Hogwarts Headmaster Professor Albus Dumbledore have spent the better
part of Harry s first four years at Hogwarts not only trying to subdue Voldemort, but
also trying to convince others of what they might soon have to face. Despite the
obvious signs of Voldemort s return, him trying to steal the sorcerer s/philosopher s

Definition Of Health
My definition of health is when one feels an overall sensation of healthiness across
all 7 aspects of health. A person who focuses independently on each aspect of health,
views them as separate entities, and in doing so tries to improve them each
individually without thoughts of the other aspects, will rarely ever reach a state of
good health. One achieves health through the recognition that all the aspects of health
are interconnected and changes in one aspect directly or indirectly influence others
and application of this knowledge to their everyday life. At this time in my life, not
all 7 dimensions of health are equal to me. As a stressed out first year science student

Introduction:
The ongoing problem of the death penalty system in California is the ineffective and
expensive process between sentencing and executing. The Death Penalty Information
Center (DPIC), a national non profit organization serving the media and the public
with analysis and information on issues concerning capital punishment, published the
total numbers of death row inmates by states on July 1, 2016. From the data,
California has the largest death rows in America. There are 741 inmates on death
row in California. The next is 396 in Florida and 254 in Texas. However, there are
just 13 executed prisons in California since the reinstatement of death penalty in
1978. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR),
operating all prisons and parole systems in California, published a document to
analyze the time of execution. According to the statistics, the average time served
on death row is 17.9 years and the average age at time of execution is 49 years old.
A typical example is Clarence Ray Allen, who had been convicted in 1982, but he
has not been executed until 2006. After the execution, one of the victims family
members claimed that it has taken 23 years but justice has prevailed today. Mr. Allen
abused the justice system with endless appeals until he lived longer in prison than the
short 17 years of Josephine s life ( Clarence Ray Allen Summary 4). The case of
Allen reflects that most of the prisons stay on the death row for more than two
I Am Owned By Three Dogs
As I like to say, I am owned by three dogs. Anybody who has dogs, knows people
who have dogs, has ever seen a dog, or even is aware that dogs exist, knows that
dogs like to bark. Some dogs naturally bark more than others, but I do believe I
have three of the barkiest dogs on this planet. (Is barkiest even a word? If not, it is
now, because that s what I have). My dogs like to bark whenever anybody comes
into the house, whether they are family or not. They bark when company goes out
the door. My dogs like to bark at neighbors walking down the sidewalk, and if those
neighbors are walking their dogs, they bark even louder! My dogs like to bark at
small critters in the yard, when the neighbor slams a car door shut, and when the
washing machine back in my laundry room brakes after the spin cycle. In effect, they
think they must bark all the time. All this barking dognoise becomes quite stressful.
When my poor husband comes home from work, all the dogs come to greet him,
and Twix (a beagle/sheltie cross) is the worst of all. Being part beagle, she is quite
vocal by nature. She gets so excited whenever family comes home that she goes on
a five minute barking spree. She was trained by her previous owner, my daughter in
law, to respond to a quiet command but it s usually ineffective. She knows she s
supposed to shut up, but she just can t control her excitement. The other two dogs
also understand the word quiet but they don t listen either. Martha is an anxious dog

Lock And Dam Research Paper
Recreational usage is a courtesy and is not considered in the outcome for the locks.
This Lock and Dam s sole purpose is not for flood control, or recreation, but it is for
the transportation of goods. Accurate record keeping is a must to keep the money
allocated by Congress for the Lock and Dam.
.2. Maintenance Communication My maintenance duties consist of a myriad of
working knowledge of power tools, hand tools and heavy equipment. I am required
to have a working knowledge and to be proficient in the use of precision tools like
multi meter, volt meter, dial calipers, and micrometers. I must also possess the skills
to train others to use them. Basic knowledge of drawings, prints, and schematics is
required. I conduct or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Quality communication was essential in each of these situations not only for the
repair but the safety of everyone. The maintenance part of my job requires me to
research where to find replacement parts for an aging system or like parts of the
existing system every time something breaks or needs preventative maintenance. I
must read and research prints and plans for circuits and piping. There is not a perfect
manual for everything so, I must research and test hypothesis to troubleshoot
mechanical, lighting, hydraulic pumps etc. The data is then input into FEMS
(Facilities and Equipment Maintenance System) to track hours worked and non
routine maintenance. Maintenance is consistently monitored and stored in the FEM
system which has a record everything the operator needs to do to keep the facility
running such as storing work orders. An example of data we store beyond
maintenance hours and scheduling, is the gap in the bull nose, which is an opening
in the concrete at the end of the guard wall where the boats enter. The guard wall
keeps the boat from moving over and hitting the dam. This crack is frequently
measured and recorded for repair and safety purposes.

verbal, written, and nonverbal communication. I have given on the job training and
taught numerous classes in the military to hundreds of soldiers including: basic
skills, marksmanship
Sammy The Squirrel Research Paper
Sammy the squirrel and Tom the bird, were out on this snowy day when they
began their hunt for food. They were the best of friends, they actually lived in a
very warm place together as winter came. The day was Friday and it was only day
out of the week that it was even bearable to go outside. So, Sammy the squirrel and
Tom the bird went on a hunt for foodto eat while they could. Also, today was the
National Championship chess game against 2 very competitive teams. One team
was Sammy the Squirrel and Tom the bird ,and another team was Leo the bear and
Daisy the deer. In the morning Sammy and Tom began looking for food so they
could be full and a lot of energy for the big game. Sammy, Tom, Leo, and Daisy were
all very good friends ,but when
The Little Mermaid Analysis
Fairy tales often resemble what culture was like during the time in which they were
written. They tell us the story of women s struggle and survival throughout history, in
societies with rules dictated by men. Whether it be surviving the torment of a wicked
stepmother or the consequences of just being curious, one issue stays the same, the
longing to escape the expectations that social norms impose is evident with just about
any story. In this paper, I will compare the similarities and differences, and show a
strong relationship between Hans Christian Anderson s, The Little Mermaidand the
movie Boyz n the Hood, written and directed by John Singleton.
The Little Mermaid, is a historical fairy tale written in the year 1836. During this
time in history, women were expected to live a certain way. The ideal woman was
submissive; her job was to be a meek, obedient, loving wife who was totally
subservient to the men around her (Citation 1). This is clearly the case in this
story in many instances from beginning to end. The little mermaid is expected to
abide the rules of the sea. She is expected to follow the path of her sisters who are
content with living under the sea and is to live in her own little plot in the garden
just like everyone else, but she wasn t like the rest of her fellow mermaids. She had
always had an infatuation with the surface, always longing for her 15th birthday
when she would be able to rise to the surface and see the world of humans. Once she
laid eyes on the human world and the handsome young prince, her desire to break free
from the social norm consumed her every thought.
Boyz in the Hood, is a racially charged look into the life of black males in the ghettos
of California. It took place in a time where racism was alive and well, and drug laws
like the 1 100 crack/powder disparity were being passed targeting black people
disproportionally. Many cases of police brutality and even mobs attacking and
murdering black men made the headlines in the 1980s. This movie, much like The
Little Mermaid, is about the struggle of two males who are trying to break free from
the social norms imposed by society. The protagonist in this movie, Tre, moves to
South Central, Los Angeles to live
JIT Manufacturing and Inventory Control System Essay
JIT Manufacturing and Inventory Control System Since the dawn of human
existence evolution in all sectors of society has occurred due to Economic factors.
This has mainly happened due to the fact that all technological achievements have
occurred in favor of money.
Specifically we can admit that Economy is the main reason for growth and
development. By these means it is in our interest to establish strong economies either
as societies (macroeconomics) or as individuals (microeconomics). For these reasons
several techniques and methods have been initiated in order help modern individuals
to develop. Such techniques are usually Accounting or ... Show more content on

By these means the company is never overstocked and that has as an affect that the
company will never have a liquidity problem since assets as stock of goods are
smaller and cash is bigger. Another reason for this to happen is the fact that Just in
time manufacturing is a philosophy of eliminating non value added activities and
increasing product quality throughout the manufacturing process (Meigs, Bettner, p.
804).
But how can we control if our Just in time manufacturing system is efficient? The
answer to that is given by Meigs and Bettner : A widely used measure of efficiency
in a Just in time system is the Manufacturing Efficiency ratio (p. 805). This ratio is
given by the Value Added Activities time over the Cycle time. The cycle time is the
time of processing, storing, moving and inspecting that is spent on the material
before their usage. If the ratio is equal to one then we have the perfect Manufacturing
efficiency ratio. This means that the smaller the number the less efficient is our Just
in Time manufacturing method and the larger are the Value added activities.
Finally we can conclude that if we perform the Just in

Essay Swami Vivekananda

  • 1. Essay Swami Vivekananda Crafting an essay on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda is undoubtedly a challenging yet profoundly rewarding task. The difficulty lies not in the scarcity of information but in the vastness and depth of the subject matter. Swami Vivekananda, a key figure in the introduction of the Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world, led a life marked by intellectual brilliance, spiritual wisdom, and social reform. The challenge begins with the need to navigate through a plethora of historical records, philosophical texts, and biographical accounts. Swami Vivekananda's journey, from his early life in India to his influential speeches at the World's Parliament of Religions in Chicago, offers a rich tapestry that demands careful unraveling. Understanding the nuances of his thoughts, encompassing Vedanta, the concept of oneness, and the practical application of spirituality in daily life, requires a profound engagement with his writings and speeches. Moreover, the essay must not merely be a chronological account but should delve into the impact of Swami Vivekananda's ideas on the socio-cultural and religious landscape of his time and beyond. Analyzing the relevance of his teachings in the contemporary world adds an additional layer of complexity. To capture the essence of his message, one must skillfully navigate through the labyrinth of spiritual, philosophical, and societal dimensions. Balancing reverence for the subject while maintaining an objective and analytical perspective poses another challenge. Striking the right chord between admiration and critical evaluation requires finesse. Additionally, expressing the profound impact of Swami Vivekananda's words on individuals and societies without resorting to clichГ©s demands a nuanced approach to language and rhetoric. In conclusion, while the task of writing an essay on Swami Vivekananda may seem formidable, it is a journey worth undertaking. It requires not only a deep understanding of the subject but also a commitment to articulating his ideas in a way that resonates with readers. The effort invested in unraveling the layers of his life and teachings results in an essay that pays homage to a visionary who transcended cultural and geographical boundaries. He was a feared outlaw, who loved liberty and hated oppression. He took the law into his own hands and robbed the rich to give to the poor. People loved him and thought of him as a justice maker. In time he acquired a heroic reputation and came to represent the ideal of heroism of his age. A lord would grant land to another noble in exchange for protection and military services. This grant was called a fief. Those who received fiefs were called vassals. Within the fief, the vassal was the highest authority. Fiefs could be various seizes. Some were single estates just big enough for a knight and his family. Others were large, as big as an entire country or province. The vassals promised the lord military services. Military service was their main obligation. This service was usually limited to forty days a year. Vassals also owed payments call aids on certain occasions. When a lord s oldest daughter married the vassal made special payments as a gift. The vassal also had to pay for the arming of the lords oldest son when he became a knight. Vassals pledged to pay the ransom for their lord in the event of his capture during war. A vassal s son usually inherited his father s responsibility to serve and pay aids. Before receiving the fief, the son had to pay a fee called a relief. The amount of payment all depended on the size of the fief. The lord in turn, had obligations to his vassals. He promised the vassal protection and could not deny the vassal s claim to the fief. If at any time an outsider tried to steal the vassal s fief, the lord would join in with his other knights to aid him. Levack states: The bond of loyalty between lord and vassal was formalized by an oath. The oath established personal
  • 4. The Battle Of Normandy And World War II D Day Research Paper D Day was one of the largest amphibious invasions in history(History.com). While preparation for the operation was extensive, it resulted in the liberation of France (from the Germans), which later resulted Allies winning the Battle of Normandy and World War II (History.com). Now D Day can be broken down into four main components: the planning of the invasion, the weather conditions, the Atlantic Wall, and the execution/success. There is no doubt that D Day was integral to the Allies victory in World War II, for even an article written by History.com says The Normandy landings have been called the beginning of the end of war in Europe. There are certain things that everyone learns at different times and some things you learn might make you feel guilty. If you might of did something wrong and you have to admit it, your innocence will be lost when you get asked that question. • 7. Analysis Of The Next Exhibit Planned For The Museum In accordance with the board meeting s decision, the next exhibit planned for the museum will be focused around the struggles faced by civilians on the southern home front during the American Civil War. Although controversial due to recent events surrounding Confederate symbolism in America, the focus of the exhibit will be unique and powerful in its depiction of the conflicts surrounding daily life. When speaking of war, the common man is pushed to the side in favor of the glory of battle and the stories of the citizens are left unsaid. With the Union victory over the Confederacy, the experiences of those living within the South were devalued in comparison to their northern counterparts. Many museums and articles exist that explore life in the North, but only a handful have been done for those of the Confederacy. The exhibit s goal will be to showcase these untold experiences through the objects left behind by those who lived under the northern siege. Five objects were chosen as the centerpiece of the exhibit and to demonstrate four main hardships that southern civilians lived through. A photograph of the ruins of Richmond, Virginia and a sketch of the bombardment of Petersburg, Virginia speak of how the threat of death was a constant companion for those living in the South. The serious shortages of commodities along with the rampant inflation plaguing the Southern economy are illustrated by an almanac printed during the siege of Vicksburg, Mississippi and a sketch done by

The company of my choice is EnQuest PLC, the largest UK independent oil producer in the UK North Sea. 1.About The Model Porter s Five Forces model is designed to assess the attractiveness of an industry based on the actual or potential competition through the following five forces: Rivalry Among Existing Competitors; Threat of New Entrants; Bargaining Power of Buyers; Bargaining Power of Suppliers; Threat of Substitute Products or Services (Johnson et al., 2014). The framework is a holistic approach to analysing any industry and is based on the principle that the stronger the five forces are, the less attractive it is to compete. Hence, high threat of new entrants and substitutes combined with high bargaining power of buyers and suppliers diminishes industry profitability (Porter 2008). 1.1 Advantages Historically, the Five Forces Framework has
  • 10. Article Report On The Law And Safety Codes Essay Article Summary I selected the article Duty to Warn and Protect: Not in Texas for review, as it applies to the state in which I reside. The article cites Texas Health and Safety Codes, based on a 1999 Texas Supreme Court ruling that states counselors do not have a duty to warn or protect. Having a duty to warn and protect is defined as protecting clients or others from perceived harm (Jackson Cherry Erford, 2014). An example would be that a client tells their counselor in a confidential session that he is considering stabbing his ex girlfriend. The duty to warn would mean the counselor should notify authorities and the ex girlfriend thus breaking confidentiality. The duty to protect would be to admit client to a facility for the client to be assessed for a propensity for violence towards the ex girlfriend. This became important after a 1969 incident where a counselor, had a client expressed harm towards a girl and the counselor contacted the authorities, yet never contacted the girl, who was subsequently killed by the client a few months later, known as the Tarasoff v. Regents of the University of California case (Jackson Cherry Erford, 2014). The article Duty to Warn and Protect: Not in Texascites the 1999 Texas Supreme court decision in the case Thapar v. Zezulka; which stated that counselors do not have a duty to warn and protect because it breaks client/counselor confidentiality (Barbee, Combs, Ekleberry, Villalobos, 2007). As a result of the 1999 ruling the

He speaks about how [Semele] lied about her union with Zeus and that he is not a god (244). But Tiresias replies back to Pentheus that [w]henever a wise man sets out to argue an honest case it s no great undertaking to argue well (266 67). Tiresias also states that Pentheus rejoice whenever crowds gather at the palace gates and the city glorifies [your] name... Dionysus too, ... takes delight in receiving [the same] honor (319 21). In this way [Semele] might seem to have given birth to a god and honor might accrue to our entire family (332 36). Equally important, that Pentheus and Dionysus constantly change from rational to irrational thinking throughout the play. Pentheus thinks irrationally about what the women behavior is while they are in the mountains (354). He believes that the women are in acts of lust with Aphrodite s pleasure (225). As for Dionysus irrational thinking is when he punishes his family for their hybris acts towards him (1347). Although there is a rational and irrational
  • 12. Sovereignty and Stephen A. Douglas Essay On March 6, 1857 the controversial ruling of the Dred Scott vs. Stanford case was given causing dissention in the nation. The Supreme Court ruled over whether Dred Scott was a free slave and if slavery will expand to the new territories. The Court permitted slavery in the New Territories. It declared Scott was property, and therefore he was not free based on the Fifth Amendment, which says the right to property cannot be infringed upon. This meant he was not a free man even though he had returned from a free state. The Court decided that slaves were not American citizens. They are thinking too morally, and only about losing their way of life they have known for so long. They cannot picture a life without their property , whom are actually human beings of a different race, to beat and force to work for them inhumanly. They need to come to an understanding that there can be a compromise for them to obtain what they want. They can do this by agreeing that slavery remains where it is already established, and the new territories are decided on through popular sovereignty. This way slavery is not abolished and they still have a chance of the practice of it being extended to some of the new territories. Adding to the problem of their idea of secession. It is not plausible at all. How do they plan to decide which border states will succeed and which will stay in the union? Also, how do they plan to live a sustainable life? The North and the South rely on each other for economic survival. It would be turmoil if they were to secede. Douglas claimed secession was a criminal act, therefore by seceding the Fire Eaters are disobeying the law and can be punished for it. Based on this point, secession would cause a war between the divided Nations, meaning major blood shed of the American people. Social Isolation And Social Discrimination EMPLOYMENT Social isolation, commonly experienced by people with disabilities, is caused by physical barriers to social events or exclusion created by society. These exclusions frequently include disadvantages in the labor market (Vornholt, Uitdewilligen Nijuisused, 2013). The opportunity to work can be important to people with disabilities because it is one way to reduce the threat of social isolation. However, according to the United States Department of Labor, only 17.9% of people with disabilities were employed, compared to 65.3% of their non disabled counterparts (2016). It is widely accepted that people believe attractiveness to be associated with goodness, and this is often demonstrated in the recruitment process. In a study by Stevenage and McKay (2009), people with facial disfigurements received worse ratings in personal qualities and job skills, resulting in a significantly diminished likelihood of a job offer. Further, employers frequently express concerns regarding hiring and retaining employees with disabilities (Unger, 2002). According to Unger (2002), these concerns reflect deeply rooted discriminatory attitudes towards people with disabilities and the misperception of accommodations being costly and ineffective. Even after securing employment, it appears people with disabilities still face challenges related to negative perceptions of their disabilities. In order to keep up with the aforementioned rising global energy demand, electricity generated via nuclear power is, by 2030, projected to increase by 29% from the 2.7 trillion kilowatt hours of energy generated in 2006 (Adamantiades). This increase will be footed by the creation of new nuclear power plants all around the world. For example, the United Nations has been approached by more than 40 developing countries, ranging from the Gulf to Latin America, about beginning nuclear energy programs. As well, 21 new reactors are under construction and 150 are being planned in Asia. Further plans exist or are being discussed to increase the nuclear energy output of countries such as Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico (Adamantiades). Overall, the high output of nuclear energy is providing and will continue to provide a practical energy source which can fill the global energy demand. Another primary component of nuclear power s appeal is its high energy density; that is, the fuel used for nuclear power can generally produce more electricity than can be produced by an equivalent amount of fuel in a different power plant technology. For example, coal fired plants, which meet the most of the global energy demand, are capable of generating 0.35 megawatt days of electricity for every metric ton of coal burned. By

Conservation Of Liquid With A Three Year Old Conservation of Liquid with a Three year old Cindy Louie San Jose State University Conservation of Liquid with a Three year old Jean Piaget is a developmental psychologist who studied young children and analyzed their development at a young age. Piaget is well known for his four cognitive development stages: sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete, and formal operations; as mentioned by Siegler and Alibali (2004). Siegler and Alibali (2004) also stated that these four stages begin as soon as the child is born and it continues throughout their young adolescent years all the way to adulthood. Piaget conducted numerous research experiments towards young children in order to prove his hypothesis and drew conclusions for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During this stage, children may develop mental representations but lack ability to think logically and understand reversibility. Siegler and Alibali (2004) explained that between the ages of 6 to 12 years old, a child has the ability to learn perception and take information from multiple sources and piece them together. This type of development is also critical in the cognitive stages of a child, because it develops awareness and it allows them to experience world real recognition. This is the third stage of cognitive development, also known as the operational stage. The conservation of liquid task will be apparent in distinguishing a child who is either in the pre operational stage or operational stage due to their abilities mentioned previously. I do not agree with Piaget s conclusion about limiting this experiment to older school aged children because through early education and awareness, any children can pass this experiment. Since Piaget was the only one that transferred the water from one cup into the taller one, the children probably thought it was some kind of magic trick. For this modification, I allowed my little cousin, Waverly, to pour the water into the cup to show that I did not do anything to tinker with the water, and everything she saw is literally in front of her eyes.
  • 28. The Technological Advances Of The Great Gatsby 1.Introduction Ever since the fall we have not been unable to physically restore our glorious Eden experience, nor could we fix the mistake that Adam started with either good living or hard work. No council could be gathered; no theologian could negotiate his or her way out of our deserving judgment. We were indebted with sin, unable to choose right from wrong. God s creation was just running around since birth with no clue as to who are or what was if any power was in us. We are like blind sheep aimlessly moving about with no direction, guidance or supervision. But is that the case? Are we helplessly wrapped in flesh and totally depraved as normal human beings? Depraved seems like such a solemn condition for such a sophisticated race of people who have achieved so many great things. Consider the technological advances we have accomplished, such as moving from horse driven wagons to electric powered cars or only communicating via close proximity to communicating via cell phones and email. There was a time when all people lived in tents or makeshift homes, however, now were capable of erecting buildings hundreds of stories in the air. Was God, not apart of this? Did He not use these people? Was He not aware of our abilities before we were conceived? The depraved state of humans would suggest we are in some parts incapable of good. How could one be total depraved, without hope, and still able to do all these things? Nevertheless, some would think that depravity means we

This enabled Evernote to stay away from legal troubles with the internet censors in China. 2. An Effective Educational Environment Within The Church Essay If the Minister of Education ever wishes to instill an effective educational environment within the church, he must not depend on his own understanding or abilities, he must model everything he does after Jesus. The Gospels are overflowing with accounts of the teaching ministry of Jesus. Furthermore, the most frequently used tittle for Jesusin the New Testament, being used forty five times, was teacher , and the tittle Rabbi , meaning teacher, was used fourteen times. The writers of the New Testament held Jesus Christ in such high regard that they referred to Him as a teacher or Rabbi more often than they called Him by name. Jesus was largely known as a great teacher, the Master Teacher. As the Master Teacher, Jesus employed a variety of teaching methods such as parables, object lessons, dialogue, comparisons, poetry, hyperbole and puns. Jesus employed these techniques so he could reach a wide variety of people. Jesus was creative in His use of methods to teaching a wide variety of persons in an equally wide variety of situations. Though creative, He maintained an educational balance between the traditions of His people and the more complete revelation of God s will for humankind. Jesus, while He was one with God (John 10:30), taught mankind from a human position so that they would understand the words he spoke. As Jesus utilized many different teaching methods to reach numerous types of people, so should the Minister of Education. There is always going to be diversity

Among these Jews were Anne Frank, Leon Leyson, Jeannine Burk, Yitzhak Rudashevski, David Rubinowicz, and Moshe Flinker. Some of these Jewsaccounts were analyzed by Jacob Boas in his book, We Are Witnesses. Anne Frank s experience during the Holocaustgenerally differed from other Jews in hiding because of her family s situation and the luck they had. Her daily life and lasting emotional effects strongly contrasted from Jewish people who lived in ghettos and small rooms, like Leyson and Burk. Anne s access to food and supplies and the aid and support from others depended on her family s ability to plan and think ahead. She and Rudashevski were able to establish a sense of normalcy in their lives while living as Jews that often faced persecution, although they turned to different activities to divert their attention away from the mass deaths occurring around them. Through their words and writings, the world has observed the different experiences and reactions of the Jews who faced the abhorrent racial discriminations from Nazis and gentiles. Intertextuality is evident in the poem because it references other poets, although there is a sense of critique in some of these indications. The line I had not thought death had un done so many highlights these thoughts of the time of London during the effects of the post war. According to David Ward, it took TS Elliot a long time before he could give an assent belief in Christianity and The Waste Land plays a cat and mouse game with stubborn vestiges of faith, but ends uncertain which is cat and which is mouse (Ward, pp.75, 1973). Certain critics dismissed Elliot s late spirituality because, according to Marxist and Freudian, Eliot, after looking deep into the abyss in The Waste Land, had closed his eyes in horror and stumbled back into a childish and outdated faith in a childish and outdated God (Bottum, 1995). However, it could be said that Elliot didn t believe in God, and that his poetry was not about faith s wait for God, but the hollow man s wait for faith. Industrialism is another key theme in The Waste Land that invokes modern spaces because Elliot views modernism to be represented by industrialism, which causes separation between the general population s body and soul. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix details the events that occur during Harry s fifth year at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This year was bound to be the most difficult yet because not only does Harry have to worry about Lord Voldemort returning but he also has trouble convincing other of the impending doom that accompanies Voldemort s arrival. Harry, two friends Ron and Hermione, along with the Hogwarts Headmaster Professor Albus Dumbledore have spent the better part of Harry s first four years at Hogwarts not only trying to subdue Voldemort, but also trying to convince others of what they might soon have to face. Despite the obvious signs of Voldemort s return, him trying to steal the sorcerer s/philosopher s stone, the opening of the chamber of secrets, and most recently the death of fellow schoolmate Cedric Diggory the Ministry of Magic, basically the government of the wizarding world, dismissed them all and gave ridiculous excuses. Introduction: The ongoing problem of the death penalty system in California is the ineffective and expensive process between sentencing and executing. The Death Penalty Information Center (DPIC), a national non profit organization serving the media and the public with analysis and information on issues concerning capital punishment, published the total numbers of death row inmates by states on July 1, 2016. From the data, California has the largest death rows in America. There are 741 inmates on death row in California. The next is 396 in Florida and 254 in Texas. However, there are just 13 executed prisons in California since the reinstatement of death penalty in 1978. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), operating all prisons and parole systems in California, published a document to analyze the time of execution. According to the statistics, the average time served on death row is 17.9 years and the average age at time of execution is 49 years old. A typical example is Clarence Ray Allen, who had been convicted in 1982, but he has not been executed until 2006. After the execution, one of the victims family members claimed that it has taken 23 years but justice has prevailed today. Mr. Allen abused the justice system with endless appeals until he lived longer in prison than the short 17 years of Josephine s life ( Clarence Ray Allen Summary 4). Anybody who has dogs, knows people who have dogs, has ever seen a dog, or even is aware that dogs exist, knows that dogs like to bark. Some dogs naturally bark more than others, but I do believe I have three of the barkiest dogs on this planet. (Is barkiest even a word? If not, it is now, because that s what I have). My dogs like to bark whenever anybody comes into the house, whether they are family or not. They bark when company goes out the door. My dogs like to bark at neighbors walking down the sidewalk, and if those neighbors are walking their dogs, they bark even louder! My dogs like to bark at small critters in the yard, when the neighbor slams a car door shut, and when the washing machine back in my laundry room brakes after the spin cycle. In effect, they think they must bark all the time. All this barking dognoise becomes quite stressful. When my poor husband comes home from work, all the dogs come to greet him, and Twix (a beagle/sheltie cross) is the worst of all. Being part beagle, she is quite vocal by nature. She gets so excited whenever family comes home that she goes on a five minute barking spree. She was trained by her previous owner, my daughter in law, to respond to a quiet command but it s usually ineffective. She knows she s supposed to shut up, but she just can t control her excitement. • 44. The Little Mermaid Analysis Fairy tales often resemble what culture was like during the time in which they were written. They tell us the story of women s struggle and survival throughout history, in societies with rules dictated by men. Whether it be surviving the torment of a wicked stepmother or the consequences of just being curious, one issue stays the same, the longing to escape the expectations that social norms impose is evident with just about any story. In this paper, I will compare the similarities and differences, and show a strong relationship between Hans Christian Anderson s, The Little Mermaidand the movie Boyz n the Hood, written and directed by John Singleton. The Little Mermaid, is a historical fairy tale written in the year 1836. During this time in history, women were expected to live a certain way. The ideal woman was submissive; her job was to be a meek, obedient, loving wife who was totally subservient to the men around her (Citation 1). This is clearly the case in this story in many instances from beginning to end. The little mermaid is expected to abide the rules of the sea. She is expected to follow the path of her sisters who are content with living under the sea and is to live in her own little plot in the garden just like everyone else, but she wasn t like the rest of her fellow mermaids. She had always had an infatuation with the surface, always longing for her 15th birthday when she would be able to rise to the surface and see the world of humans. Once she laid eyes on the human world and the handsome young prince, her desire to break free from the social norm consumed her every thought. Boyz in the Hood, is a racially charged look into the life of black males in the ghettos of California. It took place in a time where racism was alive and well, and drug laws like the 1 100 crack/powder disparity were being passed targeting black people disproportionally. Many cases of police brutality and even mobs attacking and murdering black men made the headlines in the 1980s. This movie, much like The Little Mermaid, is about the struggle of two males who are trying to break free from the social norms imposed by society. The protagonist in this movie, Tre, moves to South Central, Los Angeles to live

But how can we control if our Just in time manufacturing system is efficient? The answer to that is given by Meigs and Bettner : A widely used measure of efficiency in a Just in time system is the Manufacturing Efficiency ratio (p. 805). This ratio is given by the Value Added Activities time over the Cycle time. The cycle time is the time of processing, storing, moving and inspecting that is spent on the material before their usage. If the ratio is equal to one then we have the perfect Manufacturing efficiency ratio. This means that the smaller the number the less efficient is our Just in Time manufacturing method and the larger are the Value added activities. Finally we can conclude that if we perform the Just in
