To what extent can the Tet Offensive of 1968 be described as a key turning point in the Vietnam
War in the Years 1963 73? (30 marks)
The Tet Offensive could be described as a key turning point because it shook USA s confidence
in winning the war, both sides changed their tactics and also because it led to a decrease of
support for the war in the USA. However there were many other key turning points such as the
Gulf of Tonkin incident, the attack at Pleiku and the Battle of Ac Bac. Overall the Tet Offensive
could be described as a key turning point compared with the others.

A turning point in the VietnamWar was the Battle of Ac Bac 1963. This is where the Vietcong
won the fight between the ARVN despite their superior fire power, and the fact that the Vietcong
were outnumbered four to one. It was a turning point because it suggested the ARVN were weak
and easily defeated, therefore more troops were needed to solve this problem.

War, such as the Gulf of Tonkin incident, the attack at Pleiku and the Battle of Ac Bac. However
The Tet Offensive was the key turning point, this is because it shook USA s previous confidence
in winning the war, it reduced their morale. This is shown by the USA believing Tet was a
defeat, even though it was technically a win e.g. the Vietcong were nearly wiped out with their
loss of 50000 men. It also led to many events such as the public protests and the changes in
tactics. It also led to a key event in the war, which was the withdrawal of the US i.e. their policy of

Ya Hey Poem Meaning
There are many pop cultural songs that are listened to today while waiting for the beat to drop
rather than taking a moment to understand the words. What happens if the time is taken to
comprehend the true depth behind the lyrics? Vampire Weekend s song, Ya Hey, is a song with
enormous intellect within the lyrics. The number is eclectic with references to the story of
Moses prominently standing out. The lyrics of Ya Hey are both an obvious and secret innuendo
to the Moses story. One of the first allusions made to the Moses story is during the pre chorus.
The lines state, In the dark of this place/There s the glow of your face. This is a reference to the
glow upon Moses face in Exodus 33 verse 23 when God said to Moses, then I will take away my
hand, and you shall see my back; but my face shall not be seen. It is seeing God s back that
Moses had a luminous glow to his face. Also during the pre chorus, the words Ya Hey are spoken
in a series of three. In Hebrew, the number three is a divine number and refers to God. When
listening closely, Ya Hey is a homophone for Yahweh. The combination of the series of three and
homophone are attributing factors to the idea of Moses calling out to God.... Show more content on

God would not reveal his name, but stated I am, that I am when asked by Moses what he is to
say to the people. This instance occurs in Exodus 3 verses 13 14 when Moses asked, If they ask
me, What is his name? what shall I say to them? God replied I AM WHO I AM. The translation
is switched between who I am and that I am, and noted by the interchanging lyrics. Ut Deo is said
in the background and means to God. When said, it sounds like What Deo. This blurred
pronunciation refers to Moses questioning to God on what he is to

Maria Tissue Ischemia Case Study
Case 2 is in regards to Maria a 68 year old sedentary woman who is obese, with poor activity
tolerance. She also complains of cold hands and feet, is hypertensive, with bilateral lower legs
being edematous, and an echocardiogram demonstrating myocardial enlargement (Unit 1, n.d.).
Further diagnostic work up will be needed to determine the extent of Maria s disease process;
however, there are some basic premises that may be deduced from what has been presented so far
with this case. Several concerning factors that have resulted in Maria s symptoms are her obesity,
sedentary lifestyle, hypertension, and myocardial enlargement. Obesity is associated with
numerous chronic diseases, including hypertension, diabetes mellitus, obstructive sleep apnea, and
coronary atherosclerosis (Leopold, 2015). Hypertension along with the obesity has probably led to
the myocardial enlargement. Two Reasons for Tissue Ischemia... Show more content on

Cellular hypoxemia is resultant of inadequate amounts of oxygen being delivered to the cells or
the inability of the cells to use the oxygen. This can be caused by ischemia, respiratory disease,
vasoconstriction, vascular obstruction, edema, or anemia. Hypoxemia may result in power failure
in the cell resulting in cell death. As the oxygen tension in the cell increases, anaerobic metabolism
begins building up lactic acid and reducing pH levels causing biochemical reactions, chromatin
clumping, and cell shrinkage. The leakage of intracellular enzymes into extracellular fluid is an
indicator of cell injury or death (Grossman Mattson Porth, 2014). This is evident with the edema

Nosferatu Essay
Response 1 Nosferatu
My experience watching a feature length silent film was very interesting, to say the least. I found it
amazing that they were able to tell a complete story on only visual elements. Nosferatu had many
similarities to A trip to the Moon by George Melies. Comparatively it had more storytelling
elements character development purely due to film length. I feel it would be very challenging to
produce such a complex story under the constraints of such a short film. I believe my experience
to be very typical of someone who has never watched a full length silent film, I was gripped with
curiosity on how this film would tell the great story of Dracula without the stereotypical screams
and jump scares that horror movies today bring to the screen. I feel like the film did a fantastic
job of telling the story with the limitations of being able to use sound. I will be very interested in
watching another full length silent film from that era to see the difference in writing and filming
styles. I would also be interested in re watching Nosferatu during the night time to see if that
elevates the experience of watching a horror in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nosferatu, however, focused heavily on the character s fear and and silent screams to set the tone
of the film. I did not feel that same level of terror among the gentlemen on the moon when the
aliens arrived.
The girl and her trust by D.W. Griffith felt like it achieved that sense of fear by using a choppy
film style to capture the desperate feeling the characters were having in their situation. The same
approach was used to develop the fear Hutter was having towards Nosferatu.
Overall, I found the experience a positive one and I greatly enjoyed being able to compare the
difference in film style to the current style of modern cinema. I will definitely be watching another

A Wrinkle In Time Quotes
Not I, nor anyone else can travel that road for you. You must travel it yourself. It is not that far.
It is within reach. Perhaps you have been on it since you were born, and did not know. Perhaps it
is everywhere on water and land. Walt Whitman. In other words, you can not make others do
everything for you because when you re alone you won t have them to rely on for guidance or to
comfort you, sometimes you just have to do it yourself. You may already have what you need, or
you may need to search or work towards it. Meg Murryfrom the novel A Wrinkle in Time
can relate
to this quote in many ways, she struggles with doing stuff by herself, instead of relying on others.
Meg the protagonist of the novel has countless attributes and characteristics that show who she
is, have helped her change as a person, and throughout her journey also including helping her
achieve heroic acts . 2 Meg is a young self critical person that is constantly criticizing herself and
being negative. Everyone tells her how she will be alright and how everything will work out, but
she completely disagrees and thinks she is dumb, ugly, over emotional, a delinquent, and a person
that everyone hates, except for her family For example Meg said, I don t want him to grow up to
be dumb like me. (p11) An another example is A delinquent, that s what I am, she thought grimly.
(p6) Seemingly, Meg has a great lack of confidence, does not fit in and is very unsure about
everything. She feels she is

Security Threats, Vulnerabilities And Control Measures Essay
SECURITY THREATS, VULNERABILITIES AND CONTROL MEASURES IN WEB SERVICES
By Kiner Shah, BE COMP B3, 13111137th August 2016
Introduction
A Web Service is software which is available over the internet and uses the standardized XML
messaging system. To encode the communications, XML is used. Web services are self
contained, modular, distributed, dynamic applications that can be described, published, located,
or invoked over the network to create products, processes, and supply chains. These applications
can be local, distributed, or web based. Web services are built on top of open standards such as
TCP/IP, HTTP, Java, HTML, and XML. Web Services have three main components Simple Object
Access Protocol (SOAP), Universal Description Discovery and Integration (UDDI) and Web
Services Description Language (WSDL) and they are built on XML and HTTP platforms.
Due to simplicity, platform independence and XML/SOAP support, Web Services are vulnerable to
various security threats including various new and old inherited security threats. There are various
control measures and certain possible ontological solutions which can reduce the vulnerability of
the Web Services to various security threats.
Terminologies
Threat: A set of circumstances that has the potential to cause loss or harm.
Vulnerability: A weakness in the security system, procedure, design or implementation that might
be exploited to cause loss or harm.
Attack: Any action that compromises the security of information.

The Four Key Trade Policy Of The European Union Legislation
When Poland joined the European Union legislation, it has led to wide ranging reforms in
economic regulation and has decreased government intervention in the private sector. Changes in
areas such as financial markets, company and competition law, accounting, and intellectual property
rights have improved the environment for private business and increased economic growth. The
European Uniontrade policy and regulation sets the direction for trade and investment in and out
of the European Union. There are four key trade policies that the EU is working towards. Firstly,

Europe has opened its markets to all imports from the world s poorest countries, and works actively
to help developing countries build the capacity to take advantage of trade. They also use the trade
policy to reinforce other important international goals (European Commission 2017).
In the power sector of Poland, coal takes the gold. It is the largest source of greenhouse gas
emissions as well as a major employer. Under Poland s new energy plan, it is set to prioritise
long term energy security, putting a strong hold on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air
pollution, while increasing energy efficiency and decarbonising the transport system (IEA
2017). There are over 770 hydropower plants in poland. For many years, water has been a
dominant source of energy produced from renewable sources. Most polish hydropower resources
are located in the area of the Vistula River. In certain policy documents, such as Poland s Energy
Policy until 2030 and he National Action Plan in the Field of Renewable Energy, hydropower is
said to be mainly based on the use of existing damming to produce electricity (Pigeor 2012).
A focal point for great flow between sources of supply and consumers, is a warehouse. A
warehouse is a space for storage and handling of goods and material. The EU and Poland have
many different warehousing choices for all the different needs. Running a warehouse is not an easy

Comparing Beowulf To The Greek Culture
Greek literature portrays many great heroes with many different traits and values. I would like to
compare the Anglo Saxon culture represented by Beowulf to the Greek culture portrayed by
Achilles. Both men show many values, but they seem to show those values with different traits.
These stories have different battles between the heroes and their enemies, this makes a big
difference in the response of these men. Beowulfshows great bravery towards his enemies and
problems placed in front of him. He also likes to help other people such as Hrothgar without any
expected reimbursement. Beowulf States My people have said, the wisest, most knowing and
best of them, that my duty was to go to the Danes Great king (Beowulf 149 151). This shows
Beowulf does not expect anything for his good deed. He simply dose what he is told, with great
bravery and a good plan.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Where Beowulf Fights for others and keeps a calm and collective mind he doesn t let emotion
effect his decisions. Achilles is more self centered; he doses wish to avenge his cousin s death
he lets emotion get in the way of the correct decision. This is described with the quote, I must
reject this life, my heart tells me, reject the world of men, if Hector does not feel my battering
spear tear the life out of him, making him pay in his own blood for the slaughter of Patroclus
(The Iliad 26 30). This statement alone represents Achilles passion for revenge. Also how he
allows his anger the drive his decisions. In the Excerpt after line 71 in the Iliad it states Achilles
chases Hector around the walls of his Kingdome three times just to avenge Patroclus. This is a
large amount a bravery Achilles shows by facing death to defile his best man s killer. This is a
clear similarity of great bravery by both heroes. Both men great heroes in Greek literature but
Achilles has more modern day view on who is most

Analysis Of Dm Slides
We used Sam S. to represent cool in our advertisement. He is wearing a tank top and is the only
one in the hallway wearing the DM Slides. He could be seen as the trendsetter of the school. Sam
K. notices this in the first scene of the ad. One common fear of HPHS students is not fitting in . I
believe that this is a shared fear because people fear not having any friends and being outside of
the in crowd. If people think that what they re wearing is no longer in style and new fashion
styles are being brought in, they will likely follow these trends as a desperate attempt to assure
their social status and become once again a desirable member of society.

For example, the commons are a place where cool people eat lunch with a clean glass window
making it very easy to see who is sitting in there. So if cool people wear our slides, the insecure
students striving to be like the confident kids in the commons have something to improve on, their
shoes. As a marketing strategy it could be very beneficial towards our brand to provide DM Slides
to kids sitting in the commons for a cheaper price, or even free to promote the quantity of cool
kids wearing them. This will result in a trickle down effect that is seen throughout all clothing
phases; the trendsetters set, and everyone else consumes. Throughout my 4 years at HPHS we
have observed that popularity and the high school standard of happiness revolves around a very
unique cycle. This consists of the logic that if higher up people like you, you get to sit in the
commons, and as a result, boys and especially girls (from a boy s perspective), will notice you.
This brings up the opposing philosophy that if you are not constantly noticed you lose value
/popularity. The cool kids, although may be very insecure personally, surround themselves with
other confident kids to hide their individuality. By branding our slides to represent the newest
trend of cool, students who feel they are on the cusp of being cool can now finally get their big
break. Our product s clever name evokes a mixture of emotions from our audience. DM Slides is a
play off of the term DM s which is a pop culture abbreviation for Direct Messages, which is what
you use to contact your desired lover. Slide is a new common pop culture term used to represent
going forth and messaging the person. For example, Keith slid into Ashley s DM s last night.
Indirectly, our advertisement and brand allows you to be cool , and as we ve regarded already, cool
people impress YOUR lovers. If you

The Plea Bargain Is A Vital Part Of The Criminal Justice...
The plea bargain is a vital part of the criminal justice system today. Before the 1800s when an
offender was caught there would be a trial and verdict. The plea bargain are for defendant s to
plead guilty to a lesser offense or to at least one charge especially if there are multiple indictments.
Defendants will plead guilty in hopes of leniency, and at least 90 percent of criminal cases end in a
pleabargains. A majority of criminal cases in many jurisdictions will end in a plea bargaining. In
the case North Carolina v. Alford, Mr. Alford is accused of Capital murder. The penalty for a guilty
plea is imprisonment for life, however, if the defendant pleads innocent and the juryrules him guilty
the death penalty attaches. Prior to the trial, Mr. Alford accepted a plea bargain. The bargaining
requires him to plead guilty to murder in the second degree, the penalty of which is 30 years.
Later on Alford does appeals his case, stating that his agreement to the bargain was involuntary as
it was driven by fear of the death penalty. Mr. Alford s conviction was overturned however, the
Supreme Court states that a guilty plea is a voluntary decision and is not compelled within his
Fifth Amendment rights of Self Incrimination. In a 6 to 3 decision, the Court then reverses the
appeal and reinstates his conviction. This is a great example of how the option of plea bargaining
continues to be controversial. This case shows how plea bargaining can work both in favor and
negatively

One of the places where its impact was the strongest was in the United States. The Cold War

fashion, etc. all changed over the course of the Cold War. One example in which America s culture
was forever impacted by the Cold War is their movie industry and education. According to the

the U.S. was including it on things that were mostly used by children. Also, artists started using
modernist techniques to show that it was better than soviet realism . They also used it for
propaganda. The fashion industry was also greatly impacted. Trends constantly changed. Padded
shoulders and fuller clothes alike became the new look for women. Women s underwear also
changed. It started to be able to shape their bodies well and it later evolved into looser and more
comfortable pieces. Lastly, the music industry was also impacted because the U.S. used it,
specifically jazz music, to spread propaganda about their country and to fight the Soviets. They
used it as a secret weapon . Its safe to say that the United States went through many ups and downs

Human Trafficking In Sex Trafficking
Sex Slavery is still recognized as the fastest growing illicit crime industry producing an estimated
twenty four billion dollar in profit; sex trafficking ranks third amongst illicit offenses. Sex slaver
serves as the face of modern day sex trafficking exploiting millions of women and children every
year within or across international borders. This illegal industry involves recruiting, transporting,
and receipt of children or adults solely for self exploitation. In other words, its seen as a
horrendous crime, an assault on freedom and human dignity. It is palpable that sex slaveryimpacts
all countries all over the world, although some countries experience greater levels compared to
others. Notwithstanding motives for sex trafficking are both multifaceted and interrelated. Higher
risk countries are those with fractured government s, vulnerability due to poverty, the absence of
sufficient protection against discrimination, and economic decline. Somalia, a country more
vulnerable to modern slavery, renders the perfect opportunity to assess how individuals in
searching for a better life ends up in the most unwanted predicament. This paper will examine the
meaning of sex slavery, how women and children become victims of such ghastly crimes, supplier,
emissary, the consumer, and decide who is mostly at fault.

Why Is Zen Buddhism So Popular
Why was Zen Buddhism so popular and influential among the warrior class and aristocrats during
the Kamakura period? Compared to the other sects of Buddhism what characteristics made Zen the
favor out of all? Originating circa 552 AD, Buddhism has been a leading influencer on Japanese
culture from early on in Japanese history reaching a peak after the bakufu moved its capital to
Kamakura. Although Buddhismitself is one religion it has multiple sections that differ among the
countries that practice, as well as among that country itself. Two of the major sections of Buddhism
in Japan are Zenand Tendai Buddhism; each playing a part in the culture of Japan. Although
Buddhism is not a violent religion it had characteristics that made it perfect to keep the military
class in line. While the aristocrats themselves were not overly enthused about the new religion its

Another reason that Buddhism became so popular not only in Japan but in most of East Asia is
because it did not make the people choose but instead presented itself as a supplement and way to
add more to the religion that they already practiced. Zen also furthered the relationship between
Japanese citizens and China s. Zen began in Northern China and eventually traveled to Japan, where
they won considerable influence in Kamakura.
In spite of its natural resonances with the requirements of the Japanese warrior leadership, it is
unlikely that Sung Zen would have taken roots as strongly in Japan as it did had it not been for an
unstable political situation in China which sent to Japan experienced Ch an monks who would
otherwise have lived out their lives in Chinese monasteries.

journey to find his passion, a loved one, Norman s wife, is not supportive of him, much like how
Alice s sister Jenny doesn t accept Alice. Norman s wife even threatens him by saying to him,

Kasserine Pass Battle Analysis
2. Terrain Kasserine Pass is a 2 mile wide gap in the grand Dorsal chain of the Atlas mountains in
west central Tunisa. The American scheme for containment of German forces at Faid was
centered upon the key terrain features of Djebel Ksaira to the south and Djebel Lessouda to the
north. Artillery observation posts on both hills provided visual coverage of the exits from Faid
Pass and of the road from Maknassy to the south. The troops on the heights were only able to
influence the battle on the plain around them by their observation and adjustment of artillery.
The plan resulted in rigidity and the artillery was left unprotected on the valley floor.

observed during the repair of soft tissue injuries to avoid unnatural scarring. Contained within the
soft tissues are motor and sensory nerves, arteries, veins, and lymphatics. The sensation of the

On August 17th, 1917, General Jan Christian Smuts, of the Royal Flying Corps, explained the
importance of airplanes that they would not just play a role as an auxiliary force within the
military, but would create a new form of warfare in the skies:
There is absolutely no limit to the scale of its future independent war use. And the day may not be
far off when aerial operations with their devastation of enemy lands and destruction of industries
and populous centres on a vast scale may become one of the principal operations of war, to which
the older forms of military and naval operations may become secondary and subordinate.

By 1911, the old Balloon Section was separated into two Companies by the War Office, No 1
(Airship) and No 2 (Aeroplane), which caused the direct militarization of Britain s first air force,
and eventually became the Royal Flying Corps on March 13th, 1912. General David Henderson,
Father of the RAF and the man who led its formation of the RAF, changed the way that aviation
was viewed from a military perspective, by expanding the roles of aircraft to fighter interception,
reconnaissance, and tactical support. Even with these changes, the general thought of utilizing
airplanes in an aggressive manner was not rationalized alongside the current state of aviation
technology.
The airplanes function as a scout was utilized expertly during World War Ias trench warfare made it
extremely difficult to obtain information on foot or horseback. This aerial reconnaissance played a
major role to battlefield commanders and artillery teams, where on the ground information was used
to plan troop movement strategies or to adjust artillery fire. These advantages eventually led to the
realization that denying your enemy that same information was just as crucial as obtaining it,
which led to the first of many aerial battles. The first main function of these fighter aircrafts were to
shoot down enemy reconnaissance planes, but it was not until a Dutch inventor, Anthony Fokker,
created a synchronization gear that allowed a machine gun to fire in between the rotating

Philosophy of Nursing
Philosophy of Nursing
Alicia Hanford
Elms College
Philosophy of Nursing I remember at a young age telling my mother that I wanted to be a nurse
just like her, she told me to choose a different path. Her response surprised me but did not stop me
from pursuing my dream. I am passionate about being a nurse and what that role means. With
recent frustrations with others in this profession I finally understood why my mother told me to
choose a different path. I have always believed that being a nurse is an honor, that we are the voice
of not only our patients but the communities they come from. When you continually work by those
who do not share those beliefs and values it can break you. A nurse that truly cares and understands

For me that is what health is and my definition of health in that way guides me in how I can care
for my patients. I know that not all patients can be cured of illness so it important for me to
provide my patient with the care and tools to live their life to their highest quality.
Nursing
There is a reason that nurses are required to report abuse, we are the voices for those who cannot
speak, and we are our community s advocates. I feel it our duty as nurses to educate communities
on health promotion and prevention. It is our duty as nurses to educate the government on what is
affecting our communities and advocate for improvements. Nursing is providing hope, it is
initiating change, and it is lifestyle; not a job.
Conclusion
I feel that being a nurse gives me the opportunity to be involved in as many aspects of nursing as
I can and to make a difference in as many ways possible. I am not entirely sure where I want my
nursing career to take me but I do know I want to change things. I have only been a nurse for
eleven years but in that time I have seen a dramatic change in the morale of our nurses and the
confidence that our community has in us. With healthcare reform and continuing economic decline
I see this to be only getting worse. I feel that it our responsibility as nurses to remember where we
came from. How it was in the beginning for nurses and what nurses as a group were able to
accomplish together. We have forgotten

Who s To Blame In The Crucible
Who s To Blame: The Crucible.
In Arthur Miller s play, The Crucible, Miller demonstrated that it was Abigail William s flaws
Immaturity, Lust, and Spitefulness that led her to be most responsible for the tragedy of the witch
hunt in Salem.
Abigail Williams is to be considered a strikingly beautiful young woman. She was the cause of
the whole madness of witch craft by her immaturity because Abigail and with the rest of her
friends went out into the woods while having Tituba conjure spirits so the girls could get guys to
fall in love with them. Once they were caught by Reverend Parris (which is Abigail s uncle)
instead of confessing the truth on what they were doing and owning up to it, Abigail decides to
blame Tituba. She blames her for making the girls go into the woods to conjure spirits and help the
devil. When John Proctor hears about this though, she quickly tells him in private that its nothing

Tipping Exercises
Who would not want a lean and ripped physique? A lot of people want such a physique but
wanting the physique and actually acquiring one are two different things. Can you acquire it?
You can develop a ripped and defined look as long as you are willing to put the right effort into the
process. Here are some insights into how to do so.
The way you get ripped is through a mix of weight training, diet, and exercise. Such a three pronged
approach needs to complement the goals of having a lean and defined body. You do not want to
perform exercises that promote a different goal since those exercises will take you down a
completely different path. The current path you are interested in is becoming defined so you need
exercises and strategies that promote ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You won t get a ripped physique from weightlifting alone. You will need to eat the proper diet
and this is achieved by cutting calories and eating healthy. The less fat you have on your frame,
the more ripped you will appear. That means you will need to diet in such a way that you become
quite leaner and more cut. If you are not serious about cleaning up your diet, you will not become
ripped. That is a fact!
And yes, you will positively need to perform a lot of cardio work. There are two reasons for this.
First, when you are doing a great deal of cardio work, you will burn more calories which means
of course, you will end up with a leaner and more ripped physique. There is another benefit to
cardio work that some might not be completely aware of. Namely, when you are doing your cardio
sessions, you are engaging all the muscles in your body and helping them to become stronger and
more defined. The higher the intensity of your cardio work the greater the potential for this
outcome to occur.
This three pronged approach has many merits. In fact, you really would have a tough time getting
a ripped physique if you did not integrate all three of these components into your workouts. Those
that do put the proper effort into their workout sessions and also eat the right diet might find their
goals of becoming ripped and shredded could take as little as a few

1984 And The Classic Dystopian Novel By George Orwell
During Joseph Stalin s regime of the Soviet Union, 1984, the Classic Dystopian novel by George
Orwell, was burned and banned, because the book shone a negative light on communism. The
book, 1984, follows the life of Winston Smith, who lives in a country called Oceania. Oceania is
a totalitarian society, ruled by a government known as The Party, whose leader is called Big
Brother. In Oceania, every movement and sound a person makes is surveillanced, and one
wrong facial expression, statement, or action can cause the Thought Police to take the person
away to never be seen again. A small percentage of the population questions The Party s
dictatorship, and the novel follows Winston s struggles to keep his hatred of The Party under
control, along with his attempt to fight The Party. Many, such as as Joseph Stalin, and you, the
school board of Sowell High, wish to ban 1984. However, the Classic Dystopian novel, 1984,
should under no circumstances be banned in any school library. The novel, 1984, has a plethora of
reasons supporting why it should not be banned in the libraries of schools. For example, 1984
teaches its readers the dangers of government control and totalitarianism. In addition, banning books
in general is unconstitutional and violates the First Amendment. Lastly, 1984 reveals aspects of
present day societies that go unnoticed.

Local resources Tourism in India can create great pressure on local resources like energy, food,
and other raw materials that may already be in short supply. Greater extraction and transport of
these resources exacerbates the physical impacts associated with their exploitation. Because of the
seasonal character of the industry, many destinations have ten times more inhabitants in the high
season as in the low season. A high demand is placed upon these resources to meet the high
expectations tourists often have (proper heating, hot water, etc.). Land degradation Important land
resources include fertile soil, forests, wetlands and wildlife. Increased construction of tourism
facilities has increased the pressure on these resources and on scenic landscapes. Direct impact on
natural resources in the provision of tourist facilities can be caused by the use of land for
accommodation and other infrastructure provision, and the use of building materials. Forests often
suffer negative impacts of tourism in the form of deforestation caused by fuel wood collection and
land clearing. For example, one trekking tourist in Nepal can use four to five kilograms of wood a

The first hazard that residents of Maryland are exposed to during a hurricane are floods. Floods

Storm surge is an abnormal rise of water generated from a hurricane, over and above the
predicted tide. Most storm surges are caused from the strong winds of a hurricane or tropical
storm. Storm surges cause an abundant amount of flooding with no means of lowering until the
winds and tides are back to normal. A hurricane can produce destructive storm surge, which is
water that is pushed toward the shore by the force of the winds swirling around the storm. This

Persuasive Essay Against Gun Violence
GUN VIOLENCE IN THE US
Against The Violence of Guns
In today s society, so many people have hidden guns in their homes, whether it s for protection or
for hunting or any reason and some of these people turn up in the news because their children
somehow got to their gun. News all over the United States cover cases where bullied children or
misunderstood children walk into a school with loaded guns and knowing exactly how to operate
them and have the heart to kill many of their classmates. Often the case, the parents of these young
children had no idea these children even knew where their guns were. In other cases, it is very
easy to find a place where you can purchase a gun without state permit nor prior registration,
facilitating the purchase of these guns. All over the world, guns are as simple to find as gum,
and keeping one around your home is as safe as it is dangerous because it isn t about who has a
gun, its about what they can do with it. Although everyone s reason for owning guns is for safety
only, there are different methods of protection that are safer than having a gun that can cause more
damage than safety, and also many reasons not to own one at all.
Throughout US History, there has been many amendments put in place that have put peoples lives
in danger. The 2nd amendment talks about how people have the right to keep a gun in their house
for a security reasons. This amendment gave way for the militias, who are groups of people who
protected their towns,

What Sense Is Seventeenth Century Dutch Painting An Art Of...
1. In what sense is seventeenth century Dutch painting an art of describing? Focusing on two
works of your choice, consider the possible relationships between artworks and contemporary
forms of social behaviour and/or new knowledge. The distinctive pictorial mode of 17th Century
Dutch painting can broadly be categorised as descriptive. Realism is employed in rendering
scenes of everyday life through various iterations of subject matter found in the real world.
Distinct from Renaissance art of the south, subject matter is predominately secular and attention
to ways of rendering the world is favoured over an overt narrative. The further characterisation of
the nature of Dutch painting is problematic. E. de Jongh argued that works were not secular
slices of daily life but didactic in nature, imbued with symbolic iconography. Svetlana Alpers
dismisses de Jonghs views as simplistic, arguing that virtuosity and mastery of naturalism were
not a means to document or to make art for arts sake; but rather an intellectual exploration into
ways of seeing. Vermeer s The Milkmaid painted between 1657 1658 (fig. 1) and Jan Steens The
Card Players painted ca. 1660 (fig. 2) are genre paintings that when contrasted appear to differ in
subject and meaning. In analysing both paintings I will identify their descriptive qualities and
rationalise that the conflicting points of view of De Jhong and Alpers are neither invalid nor
mutually exclusive. The realism of Dutch painting can be

professional revolutionaries. Although Martov agreed that the membership should be open to

Traction Alopecia In Children
Children are just as susceptible to traction alopecia as adults are. The causes of traction alopecia
in children are similar to grown ups. Hairstyles such as pigtails, cornrows and braiding the hair
can cause hair loss in kids. When a child s hair is repeatedly styled tightly, over a period of time hair
follicles become damaged and incapable of producing healthy hairs. The hair folliclemay become so
damaged that it stops producing hairs altogether. Hair loss occurs in the areas of the scalp that are
pulled the most, usually at the front hair line, the nape of the neck and crown.

Treatment Of Pituitary Gigantism Is A Rare Endocrine Disorder
Treatment of pituitary gigantism Nolan Coburn BIOL 2458, Mustafi Raisi, October 12, 2016
Introduction Pituitary gigantism is a rare endocrine disorder in which the anterior pituitary
releases an excess of growth hormone (GH) during childhood before the epiphyseal plates close,
causing abnormal increased somatic growth in the patient, occurring usually because of a pituitary
tumor, also called an adenoma (Goldenberg et al. 2009). There are several treatments that can
usually prevent pituitary gigantism or halt the rapid growth if caught early enough. These
treatments include drug therapy, surgical removal of the adenoma, and radiation therapy (Flitsch
et al. 2000). It is crucial that pituitary gigantism is detected and treated before excessive growth
occurs, as it can cause uneven and abnormal growth in the extremities, facial deformities, severe
headaches, blindness, and a shortened life expectancy (de Herder 2008). However, if treated soon
enough, patients can live a long, healthy and happy life. Below, I will detail the different methods
of treatment and how they work. Body Detecting GH secreting pituitary adenomas in young
children before pituitary gigantism occurs is of utmost importance, as gigantism is irreversible
once the extreme growth occurs. Besides just accelerated growth, there are several signs of
gigantism. These include excess perspiration, extreme body odor, coarse facial features, and
thickened skin, just to name a few. Pituitary gigantism is

Characteristics Of A High Concept Play
There are many characteristics to making a high concept play. High concept plays should have
pitches that are original and unique in concept, appealing to the audience, specific in details of the
story, obvious in potential, and relatively short in length. I do not think that my play is a high
concept playbecause I do not think that it can be sold by a pitch. I think that my play must be
read thoroughly to understand the concept of the play. I think that my play will take a more
traditional approach because it does not meet any of the requirements of a high concept play.
Specific interpretation is what the audience members associate with what they have observed in a
play. This play is about a girl that is fighting for her life and her family that must learn how to cope
with her loss in the end. Penny is the main characterof the play, and from the beginning of the play,
the plot and the rest of the characters revolve around her and her life. The play is meant to make
the audience think about the importance of the ones that are closest to them and how precious
life really is. There are several genres of theatricality that a play could be classified as. The main
types of plays are comedies, dramas, and tragedies. A comedy is a play that is usually light and
amusing that has a happy ending. A drama is a play that deals with middle or lower class
characters, and it is usually serious. A tragedyis a play that deals with tragic events, and it has an

power. These fear based responses are comparable to those of citizens in today s society who s
fear leads to blind following and a spiral of silence . It s no surprise that fear is often used to
ensure there will not be any questioning of regimes because it is so effective at turning citizens into

Community Rating Is Not Economically Feasible
Community rating or risk equalization system would be regulated to provide equal service to
any risk level consumer. Insurance companies will be forced to under provide at lower costs or
provide standard service at rates that are unaffordable for many unless subsidized by government.
Lower risk beneficiaries will have to compensate for higher risk consumers making it financially
unviable. These would be issues in a normal competitive market, however in an ACA application,
the concern for market decisions or risk selection is void anyway. So community rating would
probably be appropriate in the type of policy.

In the specific case of healthcare and marginal product, this would be the quantity of medical
services divided by change in the variable input. With productivity rising to its optimal level,
marginal productivity will then equal average productivity and thus average productivity is
maximized. An example of this would be purchasing units of hospital beds. The more bed in
inventory the more production will be realized at a certain point. Then productivity would be
diminished at a rate specified above.
4)Compare the economic efficiency and the equity of financing national health care with a payroll
tax vs. an income tax The choice between taxing income versus taxing consumption is a key
decision in the policy determination. Both payroll tax and income tax are essentially taxation on an
individual s income, as one is shared by the employer. I believe the economic efficiency and equity

3.0 MANAGERIAL FUNCTIONS
It is very difficult to define what managers do in an organization; this is primarily because they
are so many types of managers who perform different function in differentorganisations. However
they are a number of activities are all managers must perform no matter what the type or size of
the company in what of part of the business they work. Henry Fayol, a French Mining engineer

The Rise Of The Oil Of Oil, Money, And Power
In this world, there are pointless wars going on for oil, money, and power. Pointless economic wars

worse, corporate cities are watching as the president and foreign countries scam the U.S. citizens

There have been multiple reports that Obama has colluded with the Arabians to flood the Global

what our own President of the United States is doing is trying to keep our allies happy with
billions of dollars while destroying our environment. Internationally, bankers disrupt the flow of

behavior only skyrockets the price of oil in the U.S... If America wanted to we could be

A Career in the Construction Industry
Today is the day you ll find out that I would want to pursue a career in construction in the soon to
come future. After researching, I came to realize that construction working could suit me job wise
in the future. No matter how risky being a construction worker may be, I know I could find
closure doing the job, just knowing the things I will break down will soon be built back up in a
better condition for whoever may reside there.
To become a construction worker in the future, this website I found informed that I d have to
work full time and execute a lot of physically demanding work, meaning I ll be working all from
the morning to the whole entire day into the night and most likely be very physically tired.
It s not like you ll be stuck in a cubicle in the same office every day, because you won t. There is
always a new work site to go to. The same website also states the majority of construction workers
learn their trade through short term on the job training, and no specific education requirements for
the job are needed. The website also spared some things about license, and certifications stating
that laborers who remove hazardous materials like hazardous material, must have a federal
hazardous material license required for all hazardous materials removal workers, depending on the
work, laborers might need to have specific certifications, and certifications can really help workers
prove that they have knowledge to perform the more complex tasks.

JRR Tolkien and the Twentieth Century Essay
The early twentieth century saw an upheaval of normal life in Europe because of the Great War
and the changing political and social systems. In the midst of this time, JRR Tolkien found
himself transformed from a young student at Oxford to a soldier in the British army as war broke
out across the continent. This war affected his life deeply, whether indirectly while he was at
Oxford or through his time in the trenches in direct combat. As a dedicated academic, however,
Tolkien never abandoned his passion for languages and mythology but used his experiences to
bolster his own writings and creative pursuits. One of the largest influences on Tolkien s life was
through his experiences at Oxford. There, he met his closest friends who... Show more content on

Secondly, this extensive time and companionship with only men is clearly seen in the relationships
in The Lord of the Rings. Tolkien, never exposed to colleagues who were women, only formed
strong ties with other men in the academics that dominated his life. Throughout Tolkien s trilogy,
a reader finds few strong female characters, but a great emphasis on lasting male companionship.
Examples such as Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf, Sam and Frodo, and Merry and Pippin
demonstrate friendships that were not stopped by borders or any challenge of life. Moreover,
Tolkien s friends were primarily occupied with talking, drinking, smoking, and walking all
characteristic activities of the hobbits of Middle Earth. Even before he was seriously
developing the trilogy that would create a new genre of literature, he gathered experiences that
would be models for his created world. Once the Great War began, Tolkien described it as a
collapse of all my world. Even Oxford, the place he had always depended on to stay safely
hidden in his studies, had been breached. Refugees flooded in to use the space, quickly draining
of young men eager to fight, as a camp for safety and other war readiness efforts. Tolkien avoided
the 1915 draft for as long as he could manage because he was recently engaged, but was sent to
fight in northern France within a few months. Tolkien was not in combat for long; after several
months he came down with trench fever from lice in his clothing passing

it mentions about the coldness and loneliness of the Beast in this movie. I am enjoing this poster

I am interested in applying for the acting apprenticeship for the Commonweal Theater Company
for the 2017 2018 program. I am a recent graduate of Carleton College, with a degree in Biology,
but I have always had a passion for theater and the performing arts. I started dancing when I was
4, was in my first play when I was 8, was a competitive cheerleader and performed in musicals in
high school. When I studied at Carleton I danced for student led ensembles, choreographed for
musicals, sang in choir, took voice lessons, and acted in student films and faculty directed plays.
However, like any performer, I faced rejection along the way. I knew that if I wanted to succeed I
could never let the dismissals get to me, though sometimes this was harder than others.
I also knew that if they wouldn t let me perform, there were other ways I could participate, and that
was what led me to technical theater. I helped build and paint sets when I was in high school, and

The Two Different Of Nursing Theory
The Two Different of Nursing Theory Tam Nguyen The Christ College of Nursing and Health
Sciences English Composition Ms. Ryan April 29, 2015 Some people ask what is nursing and
what do nurses do? Nurses follow the nursing process to treat patient and they often use different
theories to guide them. According to Peplau s Theory of Nursing, she believe that nurses must
clearly understand the purpose of nursing to promote their client s growth, and nurse patient
interact. The role of nursing is to help others identify their health problems and nurses should
apply the principles of nurse patient relations to the problems that emphasize all levels of
experience. Watson s Theory defined nursing as the principle of nursing that can lead to the
practice of loving kindness between the one who is caring and the one who is being cared for,
especially the caring activities performed by nurses as they interact with others. Although Peplau
and Watson s theory both desire interacting and caring for others, Watson s theory is typically
reflective of an excellent in human and heart centered. Not only is it a relationship of caring for
the self and others based on a foundation of love and values, but also it is a caring moment to
moment between the nurses and others. In Peplau s theory, I believe that nurse patient relationships
provide an opportunity for the nurse to identify himself or herself by name, professional status and
the purpose in relation to the patient. For

How To Build Suspense In Jaws
June 20th 1975, Hollywood director Steven Spielberg released Jaws to the public. This deep sea
thriller was based off the novel of the same name written by Peter Benchley in 1974 with a
budget of only seven million USD and was incredibly successful, grossing around 470.7 million
USD. The movie takes place in the fictional town of Amity. Everything is going well that is until
a there is a mysterious chain of disappearances, People are either found horribly mutilated or not
found at all. Sheriff Martin Brody is called on the scene and it s concluded that a man eating great
white has been stalking Amity s waters, eating anybody who crosses its path and it s now up to
Brody and young oceanographer Matt Hooper to deal with the shark.
Something to note in Jaws is how obscure the antagonist is, I mean it s teased here and there but it
s not necessarily revealed until later, this has to do with the climax. As the shark appears more
frequently, it s behavior becomes more sporadic and open until the showdown with the crew of the
orca then things really get crazy. (keep in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Williams has composed the most recognizable theme for famous movies such as Star Wars, Indiana
Jones and of course the fear inducing theme for Jaws.
We ve all heard it before, the iconic slow but noticeable buildup that gets more intense as
whatever is chasing out of your field of view gets closer. As for Spielberg it s apparent that his
intention was to tease the audience between each kill. When the shark attacks become more
frequent and the kill count rises later in the film, the tension is at an all time high. This is shown
during one scene in which a massive population enters the shark s water and the camera cuts to
isolated individuals who would be considered easy prey. In other words Steven gave us the old

Ip Address
Configuring IP
The Internet Protocol (IP) is the only routed protocol that is turned on by default on a Cisco router
running IOS. The acronym IP is actually an abbreviated way of writing TCP/IP (Transmission
Control Protocol/Internet Protocol), which is the suite of protocols and applications used on the
Internet and many private internetworks.
We are going to begin the coverage of IP configuration with a brief overview of IP and how IOS
processes its traffic. Then we will delve into the configuration itself and make some modifications
to the internetwork that we built in Chapter 3. The only version of IP covered in this book is IP
version 4.

This becomes clear when the binary equivalent of this mask is examined as shown below:
11111111 11111111 11111111 00000000 (Binary)
255 . 255 . 255 . 0 (Dotted Decimal)
We see that the mask has 24 ones, starting from the left, and eight zeros. Let us apply this mask to
the IP address in Figure 7 1.
11000000 10101000 10000001 01100011 (Address)
11111111 11111111 11111111 00000000 (Mask)
Since the mask indicates that the first 24 bits of the address are the network, the network address
must be
11000000 10101000 10000001 01100011
192 . 168 . 129 . 0
An IP address that has binary zeros in all of the node bits represents a network, not a host. An IP
address that has binary ones in all of the node bits represents all of the hosts on a network; this is
called a broadcast address. The broadcast address of the 192.168.129.0 network in the above
example is:
10101100 00010000 10000001 11111111
192 . 168 . 129 . 255
The node values between all zeros and all ones identify individual hosts on a network. Therefore,
the 192.168.129.0 255.255.255.0 network can have hosts with addresses between 192.168.129.1
and 192.168.129.254. That is 254 valid host addresses on this particular network. Figure 7 2 shows
the simple formula for calculating the number of valid host addresses on a network.

School Lunch Essay
Skipping Dessert
When I was younger, I vividly remember the vast amount of delicious food that was offered every
day in my school lunchroom. The food that I use to describe as good food, I am beginning to
undoubtedly recognise for the unhealthy junk that it actually is. There are countless others who
also notice how horrible these foods are to feed children in school cafeterias. Today, those same
cafeterias are tremendously different from the ones I remember from when I was little, and they are
always continuously changing. The amount of options we are offered have not lessened, they have
simply changed. Instead of having the option to purchase nachos, we now are given the option of
baked fries. Also, instead of having a dessert of an innutritious brownie, we now are given a large
variety of sweet fruits to choose from instead. While some students distinguish these changes as a
catastrophe, I can understand the importance of having students skip dessert during a school lunch.
Allowing the NSLP to regulate what is served in school lunches would help parents trust that their
children would be getting healthier foods at school, help to combat the epidemic of obesity and
malnutrition in the United States, and assist in educating children on healthy diet choices.
In the article School Lunches , the author discusses whether or not the government s National
School Lunch Program (NSLP) should be allowed to regulate what is served in school lunches.
The NSLP is a government

Lab Repor Chemical Kinetics Essay
Abstract The Chemical Kinetics experiment was done to investigate the changes in the rate of
reaction under the effect of concentration, temperature, and presence of a catalyst. It was
determined that as the concentration of reactants and the temperature increases, the rate of the
reaction increases as well. Also, the reaction was run by the presence of catalyst, and the rate of
the reaction increased drastically in the presence of it. The order of the reaction with respect to
each reactant was calculated to be: x = 1 [I ], y = 1 [BrO3 ], z = 2 [H+] by the method of initial
rates. The average rate constant was determined to be 26.7 M 3s 1, and the activation energy was

of 0.0010 M Na2S2O3, and 10 mL of H2O were mixed. In flask 2, 10 mL of 0.040 M KBrO3 and

an ice bath and cooled to about 10Щ’ C. Afterwards, the two solutions were mixed together while
in the ice bath with swirling until turning blue. The time was recorded. The reaction was done the
same way for the other two degrees (0Щ’ C, 10Щ’ C). If the water needed to be cold, ice was
added, and if hot water was needed, the water was heated. In the third part of the experiment, the
reaction was carried out in the presence of a catalyst. The influence of the catalyst on the rate of the
reaction was investigated. Again, mixture 1 from part one was used. In flask 1, 10 mL of 0.010 M

One of the most complex systems that researchers are continuously demand to understand is the
human brain. The human brain consists of billions of nerve cells or neurons connected via
electrical and chemical activities (NeuroPro). In the early 20th century, German physiologist and

The picked up electrical signals from the scalp is then sent to the amplifiers that is used to reduce
noises in the signals (Teplan, 2002). After that, the signals will be translated from analog into
digital form precisely in a converter for which the acquired data are then stored and presented in the
personal computer (Teplan, 2002).
According to Roche and Dockree (2011), once the signal has been recorded, the researcher might
use two main approaches available namely event related potentials (ERPs) and Spectral Analysis to
further analyze the signal from brain neuronal activity. Event Related Potentials (ERPs) analyze the
changes of the continuous electrical activity in the brain caused by a cognitive, motor or perceptual
event that could determine what regions of brain are activated at a given time (Roche Dockree,
2011). Whereas Spectral Analysis shows the correlation between electrophysiological and mental
activity through decomposing brain rhythms into different frequency bands that can be measured
during times when the persons are alert and receptive (Roche Dockree, 2011).
Although, there are different methods in examining the brain neuronal activity such as MRI, MEG
and CT, the EEG is known to be a comprehensive and effective brain imaging technique (Michel
Murray, 2012). The EEG is categorized as a functional imaging method because it has the

The Pros And Cons Of Fiction
There is nothing better than reading an interesting book, staying up all night and reading a good,
fictional story until you fall asleep, and waking up early just to see how it end. A person s reason
for enjoying fiction can differ but it is almost for the fact that fiction can make the reader feel as if
they have been transported to another world. People read fictionfor the curiosity and authors can
state/make points mixed with their own creativity. In class, we discuss authors and their messages
hidden through their story s plot. The author s plot is often just a background for what the writeris
really trying to get out to his audience.
In order to escape from the drama or reality of life and enter a more interesting one, people read
fiction to escape our world and enter someone else s. ...other times she needs to literally escape
her own thoughts. So she turns to books (Monica M Clarks). Taking a break from work and
school and taking time to just bury all your thoughts into a book is something that readers of all
audiences would agree sounds rather enjoyable. Fiction is like a finding all these alternate realities
and each reality bringing you into living through someone else s life.
Readers read fiction to understand people they haven t met and places they ve never visited. If a
reader were to compare a book and its movie , they would always agree that in the book, you know

Advantages Of Decentralization In Relation To CBA
Question One
1.There are several advantages of decentralisation in relation to CBA.
The first one is time relief. Since the number of banks owned by CBA has increased, it is
impossible for the executive management to run all units. Delegating responsibility to lower level
managers allows executive management more focus on strategic issues (Langfield Smith et al.
2015,534).
Second, since CBA is a state wide group of banks and some individual banks provide unique
packaged accounts, delegating decision making to individual bank presidents leads to timely
response (Chand 2015) to problems as decisions do not need to refer up through the hierarchy and
they have local knowledge that enable them to manage effectively.
Third, CBA decentralised more decision making autonomy would provide managerial training that
bank presidents can obtain the opportunity to develop their ability in management and hence make

  • 2. To what extent can the Tet Offensive of 1968 be described... To what extent can the Tet Offensive of 1968 be described as a key turning point in the Vietnam War in the Years 1963 73? (30 marks) The Tet Offensive could be described as a key turning point because it shook USA s confidence in winning the war, both sides changed their tactics and also because it led to a decrease of support for the war in the USA. However there were many other key turning points such as the Gulf of Tonkin incident, the attack at Pleiku and the Battle of Ac Bac. Overall the Tet Offensive could be described as a key turning point compared with the others. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A turning point in the VietnamWar was the Battle of Ac Bac 1963. This is where the Vietcong won the fight between the ARVN despite their superior fire power, and the fact that the Vietcong were outnumbered four to one. It was a turning point because it suggested the ARVN were weak and easily defeated, therefore more troops were needed to solve this problem. Overall there were many other turning points other than the Tet Offensive 1968 in the Vietnam War, such as the Gulf of Tonkin incident, the attack at Pleiku and the Battle of Ac Bac. However The Tet Offensive was the key turning point, this is because it shook USA s previous confidence in winning the war, it reduced their morale. This is shown by the USA believing Tet was a defeat, even though it was technically a win e.g. the Vietcong were nearly wiped out with their loss of 50000 men. It also led to many events such as the public protests and the changes in tactics. It also led to a key event in the war, which was the withdrawal of the US i.e. their policy of ... • 3. Ya Hey Poem Meaning There are many pop cultural songs that are listened to today while waiting for the beat to drop rather than taking a moment to understand the words. What happens if the time is taken to comprehend the true depth behind the lyrics? Vampire Weekend s song, Ya Hey, is a song with enormous intellect within the lyrics. The number is eclectic with references to the story of Moses prominently standing out. The lyrics of Ya Hey are both an obvious and secret innuendo to the Moses story. One of the first allusions made to the Moses story is during the pre chorus. The lines state, In the dark of this place/There s the glow of your face. This is a reference to the glow upon Moses face in Exodus 33 verse 23 when God said to Moses, then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back; but my face shall not be seen. It is seeing God s back that Moses had a luminous glow to his face. Also during the pre chorus, the words Ya Hey are spoken in a series of three. In Hebrew, the number three is a divine number and refers to God. When listening closely, Ya Hey is a homophone for Yahweh. The combination of the series of three and homophone are attributing factors to the idea of Moses calling out to God.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... God would not reveal his name, but stated I am, that I am when asked by Moses what he is to say to the people. This instance occurs in Exodus 3 verses 13 14 when Moses asked, If they ask me, What is his name? what shall I say to them? God replied I AM WHO I AM. The translation is switched between who I am and that I am, and noted by the interchanging lyrics. Ut Deo is said in the background and means to God. When said, it sounds like What Deo. This blurred pronunciation refers to Moses questioning to God on what he is to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Maria Tissue Ischemia Case Study Case 2 is in regards to Maria a 68 year old sedentary woman who is obese, with poor activity tolerance. She also complains of cold hands and feet, is hypertensive, with bilateral lower legs being edematous, and an echocardiogram demonstrating myocardial enlargement (Unit 1, n.d.). Further diagnostic work up will be needed to determine the extent of Maria s disease process; however, there are some basic premises that may be deduced from what has been presented so far with this case. Several concerning factors that have resulted in Maria s symptoms are her obesity, sedentary lifestyle, hypertension, and myocardial enlargement. Obesity is associated with numerous chronic diseases, including hypertension, diabetes mellitus, obstructive sleep apnea, and coronary atherosclerosis (Leopold, 2015). Hypertension along with the obesity has probably led to the myocardial enlargement. Two Reasons for Tissue Ischemia... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Cellular hypoxemia is resultant of inadequate amounts of oxygen being delivered to the cells or the inability of the cells to use the oxygen. This can be caused by ischemia, respiratory disease, vasoconstriction, vascular obstruction, edema, or anemia. Hypoxemia may result in power failure in the cell resulting in cell death. As the oxygen tension in the cell increases, anaerobic metabolism begins building up lactic acid and reducing pH levels causing biochemical reactions, chromatin clumping, and cell shrinkage. The leakage of intracellular enzymes into extracellular fluid is an indicator of cell injury or death (Grossman Mattson Porth, 2014). This is evident with the edema Maria is ... • 5. Nosferatu Essay Response 1 Nosferatu My experience watching a feature length silent film was very interesting, to say the least. I found it amazing that they were able to tell a complete story on only visual elements. Nosferatu had many similarities to A trip to the Moon by George Melies. Comparatively it had more storytelling elements character development purely due to film length. I feel it would be very challenging to produce such a complex story under the constraints of such a short film. I believe my experience to be very typical of someone who has never watched a full length silent film, I was gripped with curiosity on how this film would tell the great story of Dracula without the stereotypical screams and jump scares that horror movies today bring to the screen. I feel like the film did a fantastic job of telling the story with the limitations of being able to use sound. I will be very interested in watching another full length silent film from that era to see the difference in writing and filming styles. I would also be interested in re watching Nosferatu during the night time to see if that elevates the experience of watching a horror in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nosferatu, however, focused heavily on the character s fear and and silent screams to set the tone of the film. I did not feel that same level of terror among the gentlemen on the moon when the aliens arrived. The girl and her trust by D.W. Griffith felt like it achieved that sense of fear by using a choppy film style to capture the desperate feeling the characters were having in their situation. The same approach was used to develop the fear Hutter was having towards Nosferatu. Overall, I found the experience a positive one and I greatly enjoyed being able to compare the difference in film style to the current style of modern cinema. I will definitely be watching another silent film in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. A Wrinkle In Time Quotes Not I, nor anyone else can travel that road for you. You must travel it yourself. It is not that far. It is within reach. Perhaps you have been on it since you were born, and did not know. Perhaps it is everywhere on water and land. Walt Whitman. In other words, you can not make others do everything for you because when you re alone you won t have them to rely on for guidance or to comfort you, sometimes you just have to do it yourself. You may already have what you need, or you may need to search or work towards it. Meg Murryfrom the novel A Wrinkle in Time can relate to this quote in many ways, she struggles with doing stuff by herself, instead of relying on others. Meg the protagonist of the novel has countless attributes and characteristics that show who she is, have helped her change as a person, and throughout her journey also including helping her achieve heroic acts . 2 Meg is a young self critical person that is constantly criticizing herself and being negative. Everyone tells her how she will be alright and how everything will work out, but she completely disagrees and thinks she is dumb, ugly, over emotional, a delinquent, and a person that everyone hates, except for her family For example Meg said, I don t want him to grow up to be dumb like me. (p11) An another example is A delinquent, that s what I am, she thought grimly. (p6) Seemingly, Meg has a great lack of confidence, does not fit in and is very unsure about everything. Security Threats, Vulnerabilities And Control Measures Essay SECURITY THREATS, VULNERABILITIES AND CONTROL MEASURES IN WEB SERVICES By Kiner Shah, BE COMP B3, 13111137th August 2016 Introduction A Web Service is software which is available over the internet and uses the standardized XML messaging system. To encode the communications, XML is used. Web services are self contained, modular, distributed, dynamic applications that can be described, published, located, or invoked over the network to create products, processes, and supply chains. These applications can be local, distributed, or web based. Web services are built on top of open standards such as TCP/IP, HTTP, Java, HTML, and XML. Web Services have three main components Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), Universal Description Discovery and Integration (UDDI) and Web Services Description Language (WSDL) and they are built on XML and HTTP platforms. Due to simplicity, platform independence and XML/SOAP support, Web Services are vulnerable to various security threats including various new and old inherited security threats. There are various control measures and certain possible ontological solutions which can reduce the vulnerability of the Web Services to various security threats. Terminologies Threat: A set of circumstances that has the potential to cause loss or harm. Vulnerability: A weakness in the security system, procedure, design or implementation that might be exploited to cause loss or harm. I would like to compare the Anglo Saxon culture represented by Beowulf to the Greek culture portrayed by Achilles. Both men show many values, but they seem to show those values with different traits. These stories have different battles between the heroes and their enemies, this makes a big difference in the response of these men. I believe that this is a shared fear because people fear not having any friends and being outside of the in crowd. If people think that what they re wearing is no longer in style and new fashion styles are being brought in, they will likely follow these trends as a desperate attempt to assure their social status and become once again a desirable member of society. This will result in a trickle down effect that is seen throughout all clothing phases; the trendsetters set, and everyone else consumes. Throughout my 4 years at HPHS we have observed that popularity and the high school standard of happiness revolves around a very unique cycle. This consists of the logic that if higher up people like you, you get to sit in the commons, and as a result, boys and especially girls (from a boy s perspective), will notice you. This brings up the opposing philosophy that if you are not constantly noticed you lose value /popularity. • 12. The Plea Bargain Is A Vital Part Of The Criminal Justice... The plea bargain is a vital part of the criminal justice system today. Before the 1800s when an offender was caught there would be a trial and verdict. The plea bargain are for defendant s to plead guilty to a lesser offense or to at least one charge especially if there are multiple indictments. Defendants will plead guilty in hopes of leniency, and at least 90 percent of criminal cases end in a pleabargains. A majority of criminal cases in many jurisdictions will end in a plea bargaining. In the case North Carolina v. Alford, Mr. Alford is accused of Capital murder. The penalty for a guilty plea is imprisonment for life, however, if the defendant pleads innocent and the juryrules him guilty the death penalty attaches. Prior to the trial, Mr. Alford accepted a plea bargain. The bargaining requires him to plead guilty to murder in the second degree, the penalty of which is 30 years. Later on Alford does appeals his case, stating that his agreement to the bargain was involuntary as it was driven by fear of the death penalty. Mr. Alford s conviction was overturned however, the Supreme Court states that a guilty plea is a voluntary decision and is not compelled within his Fifth Amendment rights of Self Incrimination. In a 6 to 3 decision, the Court then reverses the appeal and reinstates his conviction. This is a great example of how the option of plea bargaining continues to be controversial. General David Henderson, Father of the RAF and the man who led its formation of the RAF, changed the way that aviation was viewed from a military perspective, by expanding the roles of aircraft to fighter interception, reconnaissance, and tactical support. Even with these changes, the general thought of utilizing airplanes in an aggressive manner was not rationalized alongside the current state of aviation technology. The airplanes function as a scout was utilized expertly during World War Ias trench warfare made it extremely difficult to obtain information on foot or horseback. This aerial reconnaissance played a major role to battlefield commanders and artillery teams, where on the ground information was used to plan troop movement strategies or to adjust artillery fire. These advantages eventually led to the realization that denying your enemy that same information was just as crucial as obtaining it, which led to the first of many aerial battles. Most storm surges are caused from the strong winds of a hurricane or tropical storm. Storm surges cause an abundant amount of flooding with no means of lowering until the winds and tides are back to normal. A hurricane can produce destructive storm surge, which is water that is pushed toward the shore by the force of the winds swirling around the storm. This advancing surge combines with the normal tides to create the hurricane storm tide, which can increase the mean water level 15 feet or more. Persuasive Essay Against Gun Violence GUN VIOLENCE IN THE US Against The Violence of Guns In today s society, so many people have hidden guns in their homes, whether it s for protection or for hunting or any reason and some of these people turn up in the news because their children somehow got to their gun. News all over the United States cover cases where bullied children or misunderstood children walk into a school with loaded guns and knowing exactly how to operate them and have the heart to kill many of their classmates. Often the case, the parents of these young children had no idea these children even knew where their guns were. In other cases, it is very easy to find a place where you can purchase a gun without state permit nor prior registration, facilitating the purchase of these guns. All over the world, guns are as simple to find as gum, and keeping one around your home is as safe as it is dangerous because it isn t about who has a gun, its about what they can do with it. Although everyone s reason for owning guns is for safety only, there are different methods of protection that are safer than having a gun that can cause more damage than safety, and also many reasons not to own one at all. Throughout US History, there has been many amendments put in place that have put peoples lives in danger. Focusing on two works of your choice, consider the possible relationships between artworks and contemporary forms of social behaviour and/or new knowledge. The distinctive pictorial mode of 17th Century Dutch painting can broadly be categorised as descriptive. Realism is employed in rendering scenes of everyday life through various iterations of subject matter found in the real world. Distinct from Renaissance art of the south, subject matter is predominately secular and attention to ways of rendering the world is favoured over an overt narrative. The further characterisation of the nature of Dutch painting is problematic. E. de Jongh argued that works were not secular slices of daily life but didactic in nature, imbued with symbolic iconography. Svetlana Alpers dismisses de Jonghs views as simplistic, arguing that virtuosity and mastery of naturalism were not a means to document or to make art for arts sake; but rather an intellectual exploration into ways of seeing. Vermeer s The Milkmaid painted between 1657 1658 (fig. 1) and Jan Steens The Card Players painted ca. 1660 (fig. 2) are genre paintings that when contrasted appear to differ in subject and meaning. In analysing both paintings I will identify their descriptive qualities and rationalise that the conflicting points of view of De Jhong and Alpers are neither invalid nor mutually exclusive. Vladimir Leninwas the founder of the Bolsheviks. The Bolsheviks were an important factor in the Russian Revolution. • 33. Treatment Of Pituitary Gigantism Is A Rare Endocrine Disorder Treatment of pituitary gigantism Nolan Coburn BIOL 2458, Mustafi Raisi, October 12, 2016 Introduction Pituitary gigantism is a rare endocrine disorder in which the anterior pituitary releases an excess of growth hormone (GH) during childhood before the epiphyseal plates close, causing abnormal increased somatic growth in the patient, occurring usually because of a pituitary tumor, also called an adenoma (Goldenberg et al. 2009). There are several treatments that can usually prevent pituitary gigantism or halt the rapid growth if caught early enough. These treatments include drug therapy, surgical removal of the adenoma, and radiation therapy (Flitsch et al. 2000). It is crucial that pituitary gigantism is detected and treated before excessive growth occurs, as it can cause uneven and abnormal growth in the extremities, facial deformities, severe headaches, blindness, and a shortened life expectancy (de Herder 2008). However, if treated soon enough, patients can live a long, healthy and happy life. Below, I will detail the different methods of treatment and how they work. Body Detecting GH secreting pituitary adenomas in young children before pituitary gigantism occurs is of utmost importance, as gigantism is irreversible once the extreme growth occurs. Besides just accelerated growth, there are several signs of gigantism. These include excess perspiration, extreme body odor, coarse facial features, and thickened skin, just to name a few. Insurance companies will be forced to under provide at lower costs or provide standard service at rates that are unaffordable for many unless subsidized by government. The Two Different Of Nursing Theory The Two Different of Nursing Theory Tam Nguyen The Christ College of Nursing and Health Sciences English Composition Ms. Ryan April 29, 2015 Some people ask what is nursing and what do nurses do? Nurses follow the nursing process to treat patient and they often use different theories to guide them. According to Peplau s Theory of Nursing, she believe that nurses must clearly understand the purpose of nursing to promote their client s growth, and nurse patient interact. The role of nursing is to help others identify their health problems and nurses should apply the principles of nurse patient relations to the problems that emphasize all levels of experience. Watson s Theory defined nursing as the principle of nursing that can lead to the practice of loving kindness between the one who is caring and the one who is being cared for, especially the caring activities performed by nurses as they interact with others. Although Peplau and Watson s theory both desire interacting and caring for others, Watson s theory is typically reflective of an excellent in human and heart centered. Not only is it a relationship of caring for the self and others based on a foundation of love and values, but also it is a caring moment to moment between the nurses and others. In Peplau s theory, I believe that nurse patient relationships provide an opportunity for the nurse to identify himself or herself by name, professional status and the purpose in relation to the patient. • 48. How To Build Suspense In Jaws June 20th 1975, Hollywood director Steven Spielberg released Jaws to the public. This deep sea thriller was based off the novel of the same name written by Peter Benchley in 1974 with a budget of only seven million USD and was incredibly successful, grossing around 470.7 million USD. The movie takes place in the fictional town of Amity. Everything is going well that is until a there is a mysterious chain of disappearances, People are either found horribly mutilated or not found at all. Sheriff Martin Brody is called on the scene and it s concluded that a man eating great white has been stalking Amity s waters, eating anybody who crosses its path and it s now up to Brody and young oceanographer Matt Hooper to deal with the shark. Something to note in Jaws is how obscure the antagonist is, I mean it s teased here and there but it s not necessarily revealed until later, this has to do with the climax. As the shark appears more frequently, it s behavior becomes more sporadic and open until the showdown with the crew of the orca then things really get crazy. (keep in ... We ve all heard it before, the iconic slow but noticeable buildup that gets more intense as whatever is chasing out of your field of view gets closer. As for Spielberg it s apparent that his intention was to tease the audience between each kill. When the shark attacks become more frequent and the kill count rises later in the film, the tension is at an all time high. This is shown during one scene in which a massive population enters the shark s water and the camera cuts to isolated individuals who would be considered easy prey. The acronym IP is actually an abbreviated way of writing TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol), which is the suite of protocols and applications used on the Internet and many private internetworks. We are going to begin the coverage of IP configuration with a brief overview of IP and how IOS processes its traffic. Then we will delve into the configuration itself and make some modifications to the internetwork that we built in Chapter 3. The only version of IP covered in this book is IP version 4. • 51. School Lunch Essay Skipping Dessert When I was younger, I vividly remember the vast amount of delicious food that was offered every day in my school lunchroom. The food that I use to describe as good food, I am beginning to undoubtedly recognise for the unhealthy junk that it actually is. There are countless others who also notice how horrible these foods are to feed children in school cafeterias. Today, those same cafeterias are tremendously different from the ones I remember from when I was little, and they are always continuously changing. The amount of options we are offered have not lessened, they have simply changed. Instead of having the option to purchase nachos, we now are given the option of baked fries. Also, instead of having a dessert of an innutritious brownie, we now are given a large variety of sweet fruits to choose from instead. While some students distinguish these changes as a catastrophe, I can understand the importance of having students skip dessert during a school lunch. Allowing the NSLP to regulate what is served in school lunches would help parents trust that their children would be getting healthier foods at school, help to combat the epidemic of obesity and malnutrition in the United States, and assist in educating children on healthy diet choices. In the article School Lunches , the author discusses whether or not the government s National School Lunch Program (NSLP) should be allowed to regulate what is served in school lunches. • 52. Lab Repor Chemical Kinetics Essay Abstract The Chemical Kinetics experiment was done to investigate the changes in the rate of reaction under the effect of concentration, temperature, and presence of a catalyst. It was determined that as the concentration of reactants and the temperature increases, the rate of the reaction increases as well. Also, the reaction was run by the presence of catalyst, and the rate of the reaction increased drastically in the presence of it. The order of the reaction with respect to each reactant was calculated to be: x = 1 [I ], y = 1 [BrO3 ], z = 2 [H+] by the method of initial rates. The average rate constant was determined to be 26.7 M 3s 1, and the activation energy was calculated to be 49.6 kJ/mol. Introduction The whole purpose... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In flask 1, 10 mL of 0.010 M KI, 10 mL of 0.0010 M Na2S2O3, and 10 mL of H2O were mixed. In flask 2, 10 mL of 0.040 M KBrO3 and 10 mL of 0.10 M HCl were mixed, and 3 drops of starch was added. Then, the two flasks were put in an ice bath and cooled to about 10Щ’ C. Afterwards, the two solutions were mixed together while in the ice bath with swirling until turning blue. The time was recorded. The reaction was done the same way for the other two degrees (0Щ’ C, 10Щ’ C). If the water needed to be cold, ice was added, and if hot water was needed, the water was heated. In the third part of the experiment, the reaction was carried out in the presence of a catalyst. The influence of the catalyst on the rate of the reaction was investigated. Again, mixture 1 from part one was used. In flask 1, 10 mL of 0.010 M KI, 10 mL of 0.0010 M Na2S2O3 ,and 10 mL of H2O were mixed. In flask 2, 10 mL of 0.040 M KBrO3 and 10 mL of 0.10 M HCl were mixed, and 3 drops of starch were added. Also, one drop of 0.5 M (NH4)2MoO4, ammonium molybdate, was added to Flask 2 which acted as a catalyst. The two solutions were mixed until a blue color was formed and the stopwatch was stopped. The picked up electrical signals from the scalp is then sent to the amplifiers that is used to reduce noises in the signals (Teplan, 2002). After that, the signals will be translated from analog into digital form precisely in a converter for which the acquired data are then stored and presented in the personal computer (Teplan, 2002). According to Roche and Dockree (2011), once the signal has been recorded, the researcher might use two main approaches available namely event related potentials (ERPs) and Spectral Analysis to further analyze the signal from brain neuronal activity. Event Related Potentials (ERPs) analyze the changes of the continuous electrical activity in the brain caused by a cognitive, motor or perceptual event that could determine what regions of brain are activated at a given time (Roche Dockree, 2011). Whereas Spectral Analysis shows the correlation between electrophysiological and mental activity through decomposing brain rhythms into different frequency bands that can be measured during times when the persons are alert and receptive (Roche Dockree, 2011). Although, there are different methods in examining the brain neuronal activity such as MRI, MEG and CT, the EEG is known to be a comprehensive and effective brain imaging technique (Michel Murray, 2012). The EEG is categorized as a functional imaging method because it has the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 55. The Pros And Cons Of Fiction There is nothing better than reading an interesting book, staying up all night and reading a good, fictional story until you fall asleep, and waking up early just to see how it end. A person s reason for enjoying fiction can differ but it is almost for the fact that fiction can make the reader feel as if they have been transported to another world. People read fictionfor the curiosity and authors can state/make points mixed with their own creativity. In class, we discuss authors and their messages hidden through their story s plot. The author s plot is often just a background for what the writeris really trying to get out to his audience. In order to escape from the drama or reality of life and enter a more interesting one, people read fiction to escape our world and enter someone else s. ...other times she needs to literally escape her own thoughts. So she turns to books (Monica M Clarks). Taking a break from work and school and taking time to just bury all your thoughts into a book is something that readers of all audiences would agree sounds rather enjoyable. Fiction is like a finding all these alternate realities and each reality bringing you into living through someone else s life. Readers read fiction to understand people they haven t met and places they ve never visited. • 56. Advantages Of Decentralization In Relation To CBA Question One 1.There are several advantages of decentralisation in relation to CBA. The first one is time relief. Since the number of banks owned by CBA has increased, it is impossible for the executive management to run all units. Delegating responsibility to lower level managers allows executive management more focus on strategic issues (Langfield Smith et al. 2015,534). Second, since CBA is a state wide group of banks and some individual banks provide unique packaged accounts, delegating decision making to individual bank presidents leads to timely response (Chand 2015) to problems as decisions do not need to refer up through the hierarchy and they have local knowledge that enable them to manage effectively. Third, CBA decentralised more decision making autonomy would provide managerial training that bank presidents can obtain the opportunity to develop their ability in management and hence make them get ...
