My Experience With My Grandfather
My Grandfather s Lessons I remember when I was young, I loved fishing with my Grandfather
because he was an amazing man who always cared for his family. It was one of the most exciting
things I did as a kid because I felt like I was bonding with my grandfather. He was always fun to
be around when he made jokes, played around, and taught me life lessons. Reeling in fishes was
an accomplishment for me and my grandfather even if it was just one, we found it as if we did
something great together. I remember sitting in the boat with him one Saturday morning as we
were waiting to catch a fish. The weather was chilly 55 degrees as I recall. He was wearing his
same old fishing gear [black rain boots with old 49ers hat and a white tee shirt with dark blue
pants]. The sun was barely rising and I felt amazing, the scenery was beautiful I could see the
orange/redness light of the sun rising. The boat was an old boat, but I could tell because of the
green fading away on both sides, wasn t to big ether just enough to fit 3 adults and the motor
looked as if it was worn out. When I was there I didn t understand why the fishes weren t biting, I
was contemplating if the worms were good. As the time passed me and my grandfather didn t
say much, I felt odd by it because we usually spoke, but this time I could feel it was different. I
could not understand why he was so quiet, and as I was about to speak my grandfather told me

Reaction Time Lab Report
How does temperature affect reaction time? As the temperature of a substance is heated, the
substance gains more energy and the particles of that substance move faster. When an Alka Seltzer
tablet is dropped into the water, the particles of the water collide with the particles of the tablet
more often with more energythan water of a lower temperature, which contains less energy (Effect
of Temperature on Reaction Rate). Reaction rate can be changed/controlled by the amount of energy
in the substance and how often the molecules collide (Factors Affecting the Speed Rates of
Chemical Reactions). When temperature is increased, the activation energy is increased, which is
the cause of the chemical reaction. The activation energy is the minimum... Show more content on

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Essay
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
The carpal tunnel is a passageway that runs from the forearm through the wrist. Bones form three
walls of the tunnel and a strong, broad ligament bridges over them. The median nerve, which
supplies feeling to the thumb, index (4th digit), and ring fingers (3rd digit), and the nine tendons
that flex the fingers, passes through this tunnel. This nerve, also, provides function for the muscles
at the base of the thumb (the Thenar muscles). Usually, carpal tunnel syndrome(CTS) is considered
an inflammatory disorder caused by repetitive stress, physical injury, or medical conditions that
cause the tissues around the median nerve to become swollen. The protective lining of the tendons
within the carpal tunnel can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such conditions are known contributors to CTS. It is most likely that many cases of CTS occur
from a combination of factors, including a predisposing medical condition exacerbated by work
stress and psychological and social stressers. In many patients with CTS, an underlying cause
for the disorder cannot be discovered. Disorders related to work that requires repetitive motion
are increasing. They account for nearly half of all reported work related illness, and CTS is
estimated to account for over 41% of these repetitive motion disorders. Researchers have defined
six key risk factors in the workplace for the development of these disorders, including CTS: (1)
repetition, (2) high force, (3) awkward joint posture, (4) direct pressure, (5) vibration, and (6)
prolonged constrained posture. Through many of the studies I have read, many believe that
incorrect posture may play a large role in the development of CTS, particularly in people who
work at computer and other types of keyboards. The tendency to roll the shoulders forward, round
the lower back, and thrust the chin forward can shorten the neck and shoulder muscles compressing
nerves in the neck. This can affect the wrist, fingers, and hand. It has been difficult to obtain reliable
data on the relation between repetitive hand and wrist tasks and CTS. Studies indicate that

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Round Robin Schedulinging...
1.INTRODUCTION
An operating system is an interface between the user of the computer and the computer hardware.
The main purpose of the operating system is to provide user an environment where he can run the
programs in the efficient manner. CPU is considered to be the heart of the system so it should be
effectively used. Improper use of CPU can reduce the system s efficiency. Hence processes are been
continuously running in the CPU to make it more efficient and have maximum utilization. The
topic we have chosen is enhanced round robin scheduling. There is a reason for selecting round
robin scheduling as it a very fair scheduling that gives equal time quantum to all process. This is the
major advantage over all other scheduling algorithms. In operating system multi programming is a
major issue. The main aim is to run several processes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This major drawback in Round Robin scheduling. Due to this system performance is degraded.
More number of Context switches are been used. This leads to wastage of memory and time , and
also leads to scheduler overhead.
Due to this more number of Context switches ,Throughput is also very low.
Due to all this disadvantages the existing Round Robin Scheduling algorithm is made unfit for the
present real time systems. So these drawbacks are being limited in the proposed system. The Round
Robin scheduling is sensitive to the time quantum. The following two cases arise for scheduling
round robin algorithm
If the time quantum is too small then the Round Robin scheduling becomes Processor sharing
algorithm and hence Context Switches becomes high.
If the time quantum is high then the Round Robin Scheduling becomes First Come First Serve
algorithm.
For every value of time quantum will have specific performance and will certainly affect the
algorithm performance. The quantities which gets affect by this are

Research Paper On Betty Friedan
Betty Friedan: Women s Rights
Women have virtually the same rights as men. However, the fault needing to be recognized in
today s society is the way that women are treated. Even in simple areas, such as jobs, women are
put on the back burner. A woman is able to become a CEO of a company, nonetheless, she will
struggle twice as hard as a man would. Even as an employee, women are statistically paid less than
men are.
Betty Friedan believed that women should feel and be treated equal to men. Friedan fought for
women to embody their power and worth. She was an activist for the women s rights movement
and a founder of the National Organization for Women(NOW). Her book, The Feminine Mystique,
connected with her readers by illustrating the standards that women were put under for decades. In
the 60 s, women were viewed as nothing but maids and child bearers. Many women were hesitant
to take a stand for this taboo subject; their own rights. Friedan took initiative when everyone else
was afraid to. Betty Friedan s contribution clearly advanced the progression of women s equality.
She accomplished this by writing her famous book, giving a debatable speech, and founding the
National Organization for Women.
Betty Friedan was born in 1921 in Illinois. She attended Smith College and received her degree
in psychology. She graduated at age 21. After having her second child, she lost her job as a
reporter. She felt that her life as a house keeper was not enough for her. Friedan wanted to

The Concept of Encounter of Cultures in the Philosophy of History
ABSTRACT: A general problem of philosophical interests concerns the possibility of objective
knowledge of other cultures and a past culture, as well as the adequacy of their reconstruction. The
problem of cultural development is also crucial. By the criterion I develop, a culture which has
expanded its potentialities in various independent forms is an open culture able to enter into
dialogue with any other culture. 1. To begin with, I must mention that at first I intended to present
my paper at the Section of Philosophy of History, because the point at issue here has a great
concern to the concept of history and to the methodological approaches of historians. ... Show more

The phenomenon of encounter of cultures has been known and described long ago, but in its
definite meaning the theoretical analysis of the phenomenon may be dated by the late 19th and
early 20th cc., the period of shaping of contemporary anthropology and philosophy of history. In
this connection, in the field of the philosophy of history the work of Arnold Toynbee ought to be
mentioned who has put forward a conception and a model for systematic representation of the
whole diversity of historical facts concerning the encounter of societies, civilizations, cultures in
space and time, (1) and, in the field of ethnology, the work of the American cultural anthropologists,
of Franz Boas school, in which theory and practice of intercultural and cross cultural research have
been initiated in different forms. (2)
3. In such a broad meaning of the term, the history of mankind presents itself as a variegated
picturesque panorama of encounters of cultures. The immediate reminiscences are the great
migrations of tribes and peoples; the Graeco Roman invasion of the East; the incursion of
barbarians into Europe; the invasion of Turkic nomads of the area of ancient civilizations; the
Crusades; the discovery

with what. John, Patsy, and an unknown male murdered JonBenet Ramsey. Now I am going to give

20 Year Murder Mystery Who Killed JonBenet Ramsey (2016) Michael Baden has 60 years of
experience and he thought that this ransom note was strange or unusual . Like the length of the
ransom note it was really long so it would have took time to write it. Asking for $118,000 is a
very specific amount and the other weird part is that not very many people knew that John
Ramsey had got this exact same amount for a bonus. And Michael Baden, a board certified
forensic pathologist with both former District Attorney Alex Hunter as well as Ramsey
supporter Lou Smitt regarding the JonBenet case says, The whole ransom note is, in my
experience of 60 years, not a usual ransom note. I don t think it was written by an outside
stranger. And more so than the writing itself is how it was done: the pen, the paper, the length of
time it took to do it without being discovered. Then there is the extremely unusual ransom
request for $118,000: Only a very few people knew John Ramsey had [just] gotten a $118,000
bonus. (Bane, 2016). This was also in the same article previously mentioned. Suzanne the former

Pros And Cons Of A Movie Watching The Movie Rated R
Have you ever watched a movie that was rated R ? I believe that ratings on movies and shows
should not exist because a movie could be rated R but the content in the movie is not bad at all,
all kids will act differently to what they watch but if there has to be ratings I think I have a better
rating system for all kids and parents to help. When you watched the movie you either ignored the
rating or your parents let you watchit on your own at home. If they let you watch it, because they
already watched it themselves, then they are on the right track. I m here to tell you why I think
parents should be the ones to tell what their kid watches by actually watching the movie first so
that ratings will not exist at all! When you watch an R rated movie what s usually in the movie?
It s either sexual content, nudity, violence and/or language. When parents see an R rating they
think that it has sexual content, nudity, violence and language so then they don t let their kid
watch it. Sometimes it s just rated like this because it swears a couple times. I also doubt that a
grade 7 has never heard the F word before from their parents or a school friend. It really should
not be rated R for that. Another reason for parents to watch the movie first instead of just looking
at the rating is because the movie could be rated 13+ but then have other bad things happen in the
movie that they are not supposed to watch. If the parents had not just read the rating and

Picasso s World War II
Picasso s World War II Revolutionary Painting Right from the brink of World War II in 1939, an
abundant amount of distinguished artwork was created in response to the events that took place
before, during, and after the War. There is one painting in particular that I am referring to. This
painting is none other than, famous artist, Pablo Picasso s painting of Guernica. Guernica is a
famous piece of artwork created in 1937. It depicts the bombings of a Basque Countryvillage in
northern Spainby German and Italian warplanes during the Spanish Civil War. The attack was
unsuspected and unavoidable. Nearly three quarters of the people s homes were demolished and
a large number of their population perished. In the following paragraphs, I would like to talk
briefly about Guernica in the sense of its content and historical context that pertain to World War
II. In the painting known as Guernica, Picasso portrays a scene of endless violence, suffering,
and of course death. When one looks at the painting of Guernica as a whole, one can see that
there is a lot of conflict going on all at once in this painting. When breaking it down, first one
might notice that in the top left hand corner of the painting there is a bull. The bull is a symbol for
the Spanish rituals of bullfighting which than pertains to the nature of death from how all these
bulls are killed in these fights to the death. Next, one can depict in the bottom left corner of the
painting, a figure who is lying face up

John Rawls’ A Theory of Justice Essay
John Rawls A Theory of Justice holds that rational, mutually disinterested individuals, in the
Original Position and given the task of establishing societal rules to maximise their own happiness

liberties and b) the nullification of social and economic disparities by universal equality of
opportunities, which are to be of greatest benefit to the least advantaged members of society , .

It also stimulates competition rational individuals will naturally want more primary goods for
themselves , and will be willing to compete for these. This is vital to a healthy economy because it
prevents stagnating monopolization by individuals.
One weakness in Rawls theory is his assumption that the individual in the Original Position will
think conservatively. Realistically, the individual is supposedly more likely to risk a slightly
worse worst case scenario for a markedly better best case scenario (similar to the large numbers
of individuals who gamble money in hope of winning more) . The individual may choose to
dismiss the Difference Principle in favour of a riskier, but more beneficial principle for example,
that the rich get richer . Rawls argues that the individual will adopt conservatism to ensure that all
parties may pursue their own ends irrespective of (dis)advantages, simply because of their arbitrary
placement in society. It may also be plausibly argued that the gravity of the situations differs, and
that when charged with the creation of a society, one is more likely to act conservatively because
the dGBgbGGBecision carries potentially negative, far reaching ramifications.
It is similarly asserted that Rawls Maximin Principle may eliminate beneficial inequalities . For
example, should the annual income of two people be $100,000 each, this would be a less

Affirmative Action Should Not Be A Program
Combat racism, with more racism. That is a strategy that seems so backward in thought that it
should not be a program in modern American government and yet is still very active today.
Affirmative action is defined as the practice of improving the educational and job opportunities of
members of groups that have not been treated fairly in the past because of their race, sex, etc
(Merriam Webster). Affirmative action creates a blatantly unfair advantage in college and job
applications to non minority races and is ultimately a racist law. Affirmative action is most
prominent in the College admission process, where its racial prioritizing is the most blatant. In
2005, it was found that the acceptance rates for African Americans at MIT were 98.7% higher
than the acceptance rates for Whites or Asians (College Admission Officers). Affirmative Action
was passed in 1961 by John Fitzgerald Kennedy to combat racial tensions in college admissions
and the workforce. It gave an opportunity to minorities that may have been previously set back
from racist laws and rules to have a chance at changing their lives for the better. This artificial
raising of minority opportunities has lasted for more than two generations and has long outlived
its purpose. Affirmative Action in its modern day use is racist at the expense of the non minority
race(s), and was meant for minority advancement in a world where it was almost impossible.
Today, all races are equal in the eyes of all the

The Emergence of Surf Music Essays
The Emergence of Surf Music
Many different music styles emerged during the early 1960 s. One of these music styles that was
perhaps the most prominent music style to ever come out of Southern California was Surf Music.
Surf music was a short lived phenomenon that occurred from 1961 to 1965 (Nostalgia, 2002).
Along with the surf music craze, Hollywood also started producing numerous movies about surfing,
including Gidget, and Endless Summer (St. James Encyclopedia, 2003 and Nostalgia, 2002). These
movies had some amazing soundtracks that helped popularize the surf music phenomenon. There
are two different forms of surf music; instrumental and vocal (Holm, 1998 and St. James
Encyclopedia, 2003). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, let s start with the innovator of surf music and the king of the surf guitar; Dick Dale. Dick
was originally from Boston, but he moved to Southern California when he was seventeen
(Wikipedia, 2003). While in California, he became popular for his country guitar playing. At the
same time, he was spending a lot of time with the surfers on the beaches in California. He
immediately became intrigued by the spirit of the surf culture, and the splendor of the ocean
waves. He began experimenting with his music, trying to capture the rhythm and sounds of the
ocean. He formed the group Dick Dale and the Del tones in 1961 (Wikipedia, 2003 and

style was admired by many (even Leo Fender who asked him to test some of his new amplifier
prototypes with the notion that if his amplifiers could survive Dick Dale s playing, they could
survive anything) (Bettenville). At the end of 1961, he released his first single, Let s Go Trippin
, which is considered to be the first surf rock recording (St. James Encyclopedia, 2003). He

Cost Of Art Education
Pablo Picasso once said Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he
grows up. Think about this, when a child is young they are given crayons and paper to occupy
their time; mothers sing to their babies or play them classical music. From a young age we are
taught to create, and we really are all artists. We create until creation is deemed nonessential, and
the art projects we work into our everyday routine are demoted to electives. Funds for Education
have been cut in over 80% of U.S. schools in the last 10 years, and the first programs to leave are
often art education. Harvard President Drew Faust recently wrote. The same classes we as a nation

School System needs to stop defunding art programs because art is important in our history.
Without art, we would have less interpretation of our history. In any history class we study the
artists of each time period and how they interpreted their times. Most of what artists do is tell
stories, they help us make sense of the world. It can connect us to the past, present and the future.
Throughout history our greatest minds have often merged discovery and art, the geniuses we learn
about in history aren t only math matachins or scientists, but artists on top of that. Einstein stressed
the importance of having a creative mind, once saying I m enough of an artist to draw freely from
my imagination, which I think is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited.
Imagination encircles the world. Without art we would have a much more narrow view of our past,
and future generations will have a narrow view of our current events. Sure, you could say that we
still have a history without art; but without photos, paintings, and sculptures would we really fully
grasp our past? By cutting our generation off from art education we are cutting off future
generations from learning too. Without artists to document our history, our great grandchildren will
be without that connection to what s going on today. While art connects us to the past, and the
world s history, it connects us to so much

The Human Development Index Is a Better Measure of...
I will advance the thesis that the Human Development Index (HDI) is a better measure of
economic performance than the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita. By saying that the HDI
is a better system to measure economic performance, I mean that because the HDI highlights the
trend between longevity, education and economic growth, it calculates a better analysis of an
economy (Costa, Steckel 1997, p. 71). In contrast, the GDP per capita only accounts for the gross
domestic productwithout paying any attention to other factors of an economy (Hawthorn, Sen
1997, p. 60). With this being said, my thesis asserts that the HDI is a better measure for economic
performance because it considers significant factors that play large roles in an... Show more content

As I just defended the importance of considering longevity in an economy, I will now explain
why it is imperative to consider education when calculating the development and performance of
an economy. To begin, when a population is educated they will have the opportunity to adapt
new technology and new ideas to enhance their productivity and output, which is an essential
part of competing against other economies in the international arena. To be more specific, when
a population is able to adapt new technology and idea they increase their speed of production,
which, in turn, increases their output, which means, in simple terms, new technology and ideas
increase an economy s growth because it allows them to produce more, faster and trade more,
faster. This is best explained in Invest in Humans, Technological Diffusion, and Economic
Growth that says, the better educated farmer is quicker to adopt profitable new processes and
products since, for him, the expected payoff from innovation is likely to be greater and the risk
likely to be smaller; for he is better able to discriminate between promising and unpromising ideas,
and hence les likely to make mistakes (Nelson, Phelps 1966, p.70) , while the less educated farmer
is prudent to delay the introduction of new technology until he has concrete evidence of its
profitability, which is often from his

The Personality Typologies Of Carl Gustav Essay
Personality Typologies
Carl Gustav Young had quite an interesting mind. He believed that while he was growing up, his
mother had to different personalities. Shortly after, he began to believe he was more than one
person. He felt that he was both the child he actually was as well as a wise old man. Jung had a
lonely childhood. He was the only surviving child of his parents and when he wasn t dealing with
their completely opposite personalities, he was being left out when all the kids in school played.
Fortunately, he didn t mind being alone, on the contrary, he very much enjoyed the alone time he
could get to think about and reflect on events.
Ever since Jung was a boy, he looked deeper into the purpose of objects and events, asked
theoretical questions that no regular boy would ask and came up with possibilities that no one
could take seriously.
Carl Jung was born on July 26th, 1875 in Kesswil, Switzerland. Shortly after graduating from the
University of Zurich, Jung became a Psychiatrist. He went onto founding a new school of
Psychotherapy called Analytical Psychology, eventually becoming a very famous Swiss
Psychiatrist. Analytical Psychology is based on the idea that experiences dramatically shape who
you are and the way you live your life as well as predict the way you will be living in the future.
This was also sometimes called Jungian analysis. The point of Jungian analysis was individuation.
Individuation is the process of one forming his or her own personal

Telling Lies Chapter Summary
Dr. Paul Ekman is a world renowned psychologist from the United States. His book Telling Lies
explores the topics of lying and human rationality behind lying. In the first two chapters of the
novel Ekman seeks to address why people lie, what makes it so common to human behavior, and
why society should not demonize lying. In the first chapter Ekman lays out the foundation of his
argument by beginning with the basics of lying supported by real world examples. The novel starts

The novel will often drop an example of lying then later pick it back up again before mentioning
at the end that it will be further explained later. The second chapter however clears up most of
the confusion and has a streamlined narrative that helps the reader understand and break down
the material. The second chapter analyzes the different ways someone can lie and uses the same
example to show each and every way it can be done. The example is a married woman named
Ruth is caught by her husband talking to her other lover on the phone. The author replays the
same situation over and over again using different techniques of lying to play out each way Ruth
can avoid making her husband aware of her affair. The author wisely uses the same example in
this chapter to showcase lying and to show how vast lying is and the magnitude of ways you can
lie. Ruth can play off her fear by simply lying that her fear was about something else, she could
choose not to reveal anything, she could falsify the truth, she could conceal the truth, she could tell
the truth in a sarcastic manner that makes it look like she is lying. The author is trying to point out
the many courses of actions she can

Simply Stated, Research Is A Means To Answer A Question
Simply stated, research is a means to answer a question (Mertler, 2014). There are convenient and
comfortable sources such as tradition, authority, and common sense to consult for an answer to a
question (2014). Unfortunately, these sources are unreliable and include biases of some degree
(2014). To answer a question using valid and reliable data, the scientific methodis utilized (2014). In
traditional educational research, there is the application of the scientific method to educational
topics, phenomena, or questions in search of answers (2014, p. 6) which aims to develop new
theories or to discover generalized principles and is performed by outside experts (Efron Ravid,
2013). Practitioners implement these findings from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, action research consists of four stages: planning, acting, developing, and reflecting

present planning stage, I have identified my PoP, gathered information about retention, reviewed
scholarly literature about retention and curriculum theories, and developed my research plan
(2014). Once my research plan is approved and all requirements have been fulfilled to continue
this DP (University of South Carolina, 2015), the next stage is acting (Mertler, 2014). During the
acting stage, I will collect and analyze data gathered during the implementation of my research
plan (2014). Once the acting stage has been completed, I will consult my colleagues in the STEM
department and the students who participated in the study to develop a plan of action (2014). The
development of a plan of action will provide strategies to address the identified PoP (2014). After a
plan of action is developed, the reflecting stage will include sharing and communicating the study s
results with the participants as well as the faculty and staff of OCTC (2016). The reflecting stage
also provides an opportunity to review the process and make other adjustments which illustrates the
iterative process of continually reviewing practices to make improvements in action research (Efron
Ravid, 2013). During this Action Research study, it is important to acknowledge that the

Summary Of Why Max Was Right By Karl Marx
Karl Marx is considered a very controversial figure. On the one hand, he was a figurehead for the
common worker worldwide. On the other hand, he was a detestable threat to the very existence
of capitalism according to the millionaires and billionaires that controlled and still control this
country. In David Michael M. San Juan s academic article Why Marx Was Right: Third World
Edition , David shows that economic inequality exists not just within First World countries, but
also exists on a global scale and affects Third World countries as well. The article begins with the
definition of colonialism and a quote by Pope Francis detailing how poor countries become a
simple means of raw resource providers: Colonialism, both old and new, which reduces poor
countries to mere providers of raw material and cheap labor, engenders violence, poverty, forced
migrations...precisely because, by placing the periphery at the service of the center, it denies
those countries the right to an integral development. (Juan 3) He goes on to prove that this
statement by the Pope is based upon data from the United Nations Development Report, which
scores countries on the Human Development Index based on various factors. The article goes on
to recount various stories from various researchers and documentaries, such as the story of the
garbage chicken and mud cake , in which people from developing Third World countries are
documented as eating these things so as to get something in their belly (Juan 4 5). He goes on,
saying that these stories and the subsequent graphs provided in the article prove that there is an
economic disparity. This disparity has been almost exclusively left alone, in favor of economic
studies of First World countries. The article then begins to show the difference between the rich and
poor, and how the combined wealth of the top 1 percent will overtake the bottom 99 percent (Juan
8). The article goes on to show that the Marxist interpretation of capitalist exploitation actually turns
out to be accurate. The article references some disturbing facts, such as the fact that the 1,426
richest individuals have an aggregate net worth of US$ 5.4 trillion, which is more than the
combined gross domestic product

`` Mezzo Cammin `` By Henry Wadsworth Longfellow And When...
In the poems Mezzo cammin by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and When I have a fear by John
keats, both poems themes are about the imminence of death and their unfulfilled dreams in life.
There are many similarities in the poem but they are mostly in the beginning of the poems, the
conclusion on the other hand is not similar. In Mezzo cammin the main theme of the poem is the
reminisce of his dreams from the past. Keats poems emphasize a theme of the waste of a
physical life and his fears associated with this waste. The similarities seen in the poem are for
most part in the beginning of the text. Long fellow states that Half of his life is gone and Keats
then states that may cease to be . They then proceed to express their fears of not being able to
accomplish the goals that they had. Long fellows acknowledges his down falls from his past,
stating The years slip from me and have not fulfilled the aspirations of my youth, to build some
tower of song with lofty parapet (lines 2 3). Keats fears are also very similar as he uses the word
Before multiple times, showing the reader his fears of dying before achieving the life goals that he
has. When reaching the second part of the poems, the reader starts to see the differences between
the poems. Keats starts to talk about the Cloudy symbols and the shadow . It seems that Keats
might believe that love is a predetermined life event, seeming as though he is disappointed that he

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Essay
Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can be a very serious and debilitating condition that occurs
after a person has been exposed to a terrifying event or ordeal in which grave physical danger
happened or was threatened. The kinds of traumatic events triggering PTSD in people include
violent personal assaults (rape, mugging), natural disasters (hurricanes, tornadoes), man made
disasters (bombings), accidents or military combat. People who suffer from PTSD often relive the
experience through nightmares and flashbacks, have difficulty sleeping, and feel detached or
estranged, and these symptoms can be severe enough and last long enough to significantly impair a
person s daily life. PTSD is a complicated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rates of PTSD are much higher in post conflict settings such as Algeria (37%), Cambodia (28%),
Ethiopia (16%), and Gaza (18%)(de Jong et al., 2001).
The first stressor criterion specifies that a person has been exposed to a catastrophic event involving
actual or threatened death or injury. The second criterion, or intrusive recollection, includes
symptoms that are distinctive and easily identified of PTSD. These emotions manifest in daytime
fantasies, traumatic nightmares, and psychotic reenactments know as flashbacks. The third criteria,
avoidant/numbing, consists of symptoms that reflect behavioral, cognitive, or emotional strategies
the PTSD patients use in an attempt to reduce the likelihood that they will expose themselves to
trauma related stimuli. The fourth criteria, hyper arousal, most closely resembles those seen in
panic and generalized anxiety disorders. While symptoms such as insomnia and irritability are
generic anxiety symptoms, hyper vigilance and startle are more characteristic of PTSD. The fifth
criteria, duration, specifies how long symptoms must persist in order to qualify for a PTSD
diagnosis. The last criteria, functional significance, specify that the survivor must experience
significant social, occupational, or other distress as a result of these symptoms. Since 1980, there
has been a great deal of attention devoted

Nintendo s Wii Strategy
Nintendo has pursued a fundamentally different strategy and business model with the Wii console
than that of its competitors, the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3. The heart of
Nintendo s strategy was the assumption that consoles do not necessarily require leading edge
power and performance. This is a radical stance since the gaming industry traditionally competed on
technological performance, graphic quality, and game realism: factors valued primarily by die hard
gaming fans. Nintendoshifted its focus to providing a new form of player interaction targeted at a
wider demographic than the traditional avid game audience.
Nintendo s new business model has the following characteristics: 1) a shift from hardcore to casual

Production costs can be high, there is a major learning curve, and access to distribution channels
and inputs can also create challenges. In this technological advancement driven industry, the
possession of proprietary technology, partnerships with the best but cheapest suppliers can be
considered high barriers to new entrants. Once a game console is on the market, more money
needs to be invested into games and accessories as well as production due to the fact that most of
the profits come from game sales rather than console sales.
From the economies of scale standpoint, given that both Microsoft and Sony had traditionally been
operating at a loss in hopes of making significant profit gains in software and game sales, even
though both were taking steps to reduce their production costs later in 2008, a new entrant may
need to either enter on a large scale or accept a cost disadvantage and consequently lower profits.
The current three rivals are large global companies and put large amounts of resources into their
consoles, indicating that a new and small firm would find it extremely difficult to compete in the
video game industry. Therefore, the threat of new entrants is relatively low.
Threat of Substitute Products High
All three major players offer competitively priced products with similar features, as well as other
forms of entertainment such as personal computers, music, films, live events, and participation in
sports. Therefore, the

Comparison Of Calista Roy s And Betty Neuman
Throughout nursing, there are many theories that nurses may come across and use. Calista Roy s
and Betty Neuman are two theorists that use two different types of models to encompasses the
health, person, and the environment. Callista Roy uses a theory that promotes adaptation to the
stimuli a person may encounter. Betty Neuman uses a theorythat promotes equilibrium in a time
where a person will encounter stress. These theories allow the nurseto bring a knowledge to learn
more about the person and the factors that influence their health. Although with any theory there
are different approaches in how the nursing plan is done, but with the patient in mind, it makes the
difference in care that is given and allows for better outcomes for the patient.
Roy s adaptation model is described as promoting a person s adaptation in the four adaptive
models which include physiologic needs, self concept, role function, and interdependent relations
(Hood, 2014, p. 135). Roy uses the approach of adaptation in the response to external stimulus. A
stimulus can elicit a response, but it is the way that a person can adapt to the stimulus that will
allow the person to cope (Roy, 2014, p.135). For example, a person may encounter an illness but
how the person deals with it and the resources at hand will make the difference in their coping.
Roy describes that there are two coping mechanisms that can affect our mind and also our body
systems (Hood, 2014, p.134).

Sexual Education Policy Report
The policy issue that I chose to write about is Sex Education in the classroom. Almost all student
in the USA receive some type of sex education between the grades 7th and 12th. Sometime even as
early as 4th grade.
Many states now have laws that do not allow the parents to opt out of the class, regardless of how
they feel about their child being taught, these things ( Contemporary Education Issues | K12
Academics, 2015). While some states leave it up to the individual district to set the rules for sex
education in the district.
Sexual Education suggests to deliver the knowledge, standards and procedures that allow the
implementation of human rights, the satisfactory enactment in our personal lives, inspire a
thoughtful change in civic values, ethical attitudes, and active oppositions which arouse the
personal development and social combination of pre teenagers and teenagers, and subsequently
prevent the transmission of HIV, undesirable pregnancies, and sexual violence. In general it must
breakdown all the ties between stereotypes and mythologies about sexuality.
The roles of government, and all the programs that have been launched, promote a good quality
sexual education. They do not only teach contraception methods, but encourage the student to be
educated and not be sexually active. They can provide information that can be extremely important
for the future of the youth in our country.
These programs are thought to promote values and handle concerns everyone should

Moral Education Essay
Moral education can be described as the guidance and teaching of good behaviour and values. It is
taught to young children in schools, providing them with a sense of politeness and lawfulness. The
critical objective of moral education is to instruct these human values in the students. When
defining moral education we are often inclined to two outwardly opposed perspectives: traditional
character education which is focused on the development of specific kinds of virtuous traits and
habits (Narvaez, 2006) and rational moral education which focuses on moral judgment and
reasoning regarding justice and fairness.
Moral decision making differs in men and women as outlined in the findings of theorists Kohlberg
and Gilligan. Kohlberg had shown that the average female attained a moral judgment rating of

Throughout his novel Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, Dai Sijie illustrates the powerful

controversial issue of whether or not storytelling is good. He combines countless events and feelings

emotional awakening may seem like a negative effect of storytelling to some readers, it is
actually an amazing accomplishment. Stories provide their readers with a new perception of
life. They are able to feel what they have never felt, to see what they have never seen, and to be
what they have never been. While these experiences may not be the most enjoyable, all
experiences leave people with a more extensive idea of what life really is. In addition to providing

Civil Aspects Of The Indigenous Communities
The Indigenous people throughout Mexico have had a tumultuous history filled with violence and
repression. Their rich cultures have repeatedly been infringed upon by outside cultures, and their
place in the world remains uncertain to this day. This battle to retain their culture began centuries
ago, and envelopes all different types of Indigenous groups, from the old Aztecs to the Zapotecs.
Their society was and remains to be very different from popular culturein Mexico and Spain during
the times of the Conquistadores, and they have therefore been subjected to different
persecutions and maltreatments throughout history. The Indigenous people have had their own
customs and social laws since their inception. These customs are very different than popular
Mexican society, and therefore are the targets of criticism and persecution at the hands of the
Mexican government. One of the most defining civil aspects of the Indigenous communities is
the concept of communal land. The land was owned by the community as a whole, known as
Ejido land, and households were given land to work and live on in exchange for their agreement to
follow the social aspects of the society. The system was a complex and effective web of public held
positions for every aspect of civil society from police to mayordomos, or the people who tended to

How Qar Which Stands For Question Answer Relationship
Explain
QAR which stands for Question Answer Relationship. Is a strategy that helps you understand the
four different types of questions that are asked before, during, and after reading. Therefore,
knowing how to answer these questions will help you get more answers correct and help you find
the answers faster.
Now, where I can find answers to questions? QAR has two main categories. The first category is
in the text/book: which means that the answers are supplied by the author. The second category is
in my head: which means that the answers are based on the reader s ideas and experiences (prior
knowledge).
Let s look at the four different types of QAR s. So, if you look at your sheet of paper titled the
Question Answer Relationships, you see that there are many boxes. However, we are going to
focus on the top four boxes. The first box labeled Right There is usually the easiest to find in the
text/ book because the answer is found Right There. It is usually found in one or two sentences. The
second box labeled Think and Search is a little harder than the first (Right There). Which means that
the answer will not be found in just one part of the text. It may be in several different sentences
throughout the text/book and you may have to search through the text/book to find the answer. In
addition, the reader has to make assumptions and put the answers that they found linking them
together. The third box labeled Author and Me, this means that you are using the text/book and you

Music Is An Essential Part Of Our Social Environment
SOUNDS
The beauty of music regardless of genre and form is truly amazing. It allows us to express joy,
anger, sadness, love, pain, and bittersweet moments that we experience in our lifetime. Creating
music can be simple or complicated, and it all depends on how we create it. We can create music
easily with our bodies by tapping our shoes and snapping our fingers, or we can make it a more
complex task by using our voice and musical instruments. Music is definitely an essential part of
our social environment because it makes our lives more lively, interesting, and passionate.
Moreover, music inspires not only musicians, singers, or compositors, but it also inspires dancers.
Dancers that glide their feet, turn around, and jump at the rhythmic sounds while moving along
with the music is what I find most captivating. I think that music transcends time because people of
all ages can find a way to enjoy and express themselves through music. At last, I attended a ballet
show at the Dance Theatre of Dalton, and enjoyed the dance as much I enjoyed the music. My
favorite pieces of the night were the following: Touch The Sky,
A group of twelve girls were standing proud and ready at the stage. All wearing beautiful dresses
and a pair of glittery green wings. Their hair was fixed in a hair bun at the top of their heads, and
also wore a bit of makeup that illuminated their smiling faces. The music started, and it was a

The Importance Of Drinking Water In Bangladesh
Introduction
Safe drinking water is essential for healthy life, and United Nations (UN) General Assembly
declared safe and clean drinking water as a human right essential to the full enjoyment of life [1].
Moreover, the importance of water, sanitation and hygiene for health and development has been
reflected in the outcomes of a series of international policy forums [1]. These have also included
health and water oriented conferences, but most importantly in the Millennium Development Goals
(MDG) adopted by the General Assembly of the UN in 2000. The UN General Assembly
declared the period from 2005 to 2015 as the International Decade for Action, Water for Life [1].
Access to safe drinking water is important as a health and development issue at national, regional
and local levels. Bangladesh, a developing country from South Asian (SA) region also takes several
steps for ensuring sanitation and safe drinking water facilities among the people. As a result,
Bangladesh has made great progress in this sector. The government also claimed that it has
achieved the MDG indicator of ensuring safe drinking water for 85% people of the country.
According to different demographic and health surveys, the percentage of using improved sources
of drinking water is about 98% (reported in the latest two surveys Multiple Indicator Cluster
Surveys (MICS) 2012 13 and Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey (BDHS) 2014) [2,3].
But, this achievement statistics are overlooking the shortcomings.

Cognitive Theories And Theories Of Psychology
INTRODUCTION There are many approaches that psychologists have developed in order to
understand certain behavior. The most common approaches in psychology are psychodynamic,
behavior, cognitive, humanistic, and biological approaches. The ultimate goal of each method is to
help individuals change unhealthy thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. However, these different
approaches use different techniques to form assumptions and explanations about abnormality. In
this essay, cognitive and psychodynamic are the two approaches that will be discussed. Even
though these two approaches have a few similarities, their differences are more obvious.
COGNITIVE APPROACH The cognitive theory approach explains that people s thoughts or beliefs
form certain behaviors and emotions. This theory was developed in the early 1960s, and it attempts
to describe the behavior of humans by studying thoughts and reasoning process (Beck 1995). The
automatic thoughts that we have about ourselves can affect emotions and self concept. Also, our
global assumptions about other people and the world can be either positive and helpful or negative
and destructive (Nolen Hoeksema 2014). The two founders of this view, Albert Ellis and Aaron
Beck, claimed the dysfunctional thinking that influences negative emotions and maladaptive
behavior is common to all psychological disturbances (Beck 1995). With cognitive therapy, the
therapist helps the patient identify and challenge their negative thoughts and dysfunctional

patients with diagnosed chronic health concerns is important as it helps to provide a holistic
approach to their treatment.
A chronic illness is defined as a condition that is long lasting and usually cannot be completely
cured. Some examples of chronic illness are heart disease, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, multiple sclerosis,
and kidney disease. Other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Actually, depression is one of the most common side effects of chronic illness. Living with a
condition that robs you of your ability to enjoy even the simplest things in life is devastating, so
it s not hard to draw a connection between chronic illness and feelings of despair. Limited
mobility, loss of independence and the growing burden on loved ones weighs heavily on the minds
of many patients. In some cases, the physical effects of the illness, or even the side effects of the
medication used can also lead to mental health issues.
Working with patients with chronic healthcare concerns required a happy balance of physical,
mental and emotional support. Treating the condition with a holistic approach helps to elevate the
human at the centre of the suffering. Management of their illness often requires the committed
attention of several specialists, working in tandem to ensure the patient has some semblance of
normalcy. Remembering there is a human being amid the pain and suffering of a chronic health
issue is paramount, and most humbling as a healthcare

Missing And Exploited Child Case Study
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children s main purpose is to prevent abductions
or kidnappings by providing viable information on missing children or adults. Most importantly,
the center assists in aiding the victimized families that have dealt with sexual exploitation,
kidnapping or abduction. So far, it has been successful, with a 94 percent recover rate which has
improving since the 1980s. It is has assisted law enforcement in finding 71,000 out of 87,513
children between the years 1984 2002 ( Congressional record, 2003). The National Center for
Missing and Exploited Children includes 22 different services such as the 24 hour toll free hotline.

Now, people are talking about installing facial recognition software in the police officer s body
cams, in order to receive information quicker by scanning the individual s facial features. These
scanners are capable of analyzing an entire city in order to find a match to the missing person.
This will help build a larger database which will help identify people easier. It is mentioned that
1 in 2 Americans are already in the database. The question arises if this is legal or not, by going
around scanning everybody with no probable cause to do so. However, not many would argue
the use of facial recognition if it was used to find a missing person, especially an innocent child
(Laperruque, 2016). It is important to note that most movie depicted kidnappings rarely ever
occur. In fact, it is mentioned on multiple sources that only a 115 children are actually kidnapped
every year by a stranger, but over 200,000 of them a year face injuries, especially car accidents

Boy Scout Creative Writing
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. I was 14, and on a trip with my Boy Scout
troop into the White Mountains. This weekend, we were planning to hike to the mouth of
Tuckerman s Ravine, and camp for a night, before walking back down. It was a cold, blustery
morning, and we could just see the slightest bit of snowon the looming mountain before it
disappeared into the clouds. I had my backpack on, with all of the things that I would need once
we arrived at our campsite. I had packed, unpacked, and repacked it more times than I could
count, because I knew that those were the only supplies I would have. As we began our 2 mile
trek, up steep, snow covered hills, I was both excited, and nervous about what I was getting myself

It was relatively flat ground, free of snow, and teeming with people going on day hikes in the
foothills. Soon though, we noticed that their ranks were thinning, and for good reason. As we
got farther away from the comfort of the visitor center, the slopes became steeper, and a wet
snow began to fall from the sky. Soon after, we took our first break. The experienced group I was
with had pushed far ahead of the rest in an effort to beat a record set by a previous group of
scouts. Sweating, I was forced to take off my down jacket, gloves and hat, even though I could
see ice forming inside my water bottle. The walk up was a constant battle against gravity, and we
felt like we were on the losing side. In the end, it took us nearly an hour and a half to climb that
mountain (shattering the previous record of an hour and 43 minutes), but we had done it. At the
top, there was a scattered group of buildings surrounded by clouds. I was exhausted from the
expedition, and thankful to be able to sit down and wait for the rest of our group. Around thirty
minutes later, the next group started to straggle

Immigrants In The Netherworld Argumentative Essay
Argumentative Essay Outline Revision
Vagrants in the Netherworld: A Structural Explanation
I.Introduction
Thesis Statement: Homelessness stems from the structural forces rather than the individual
pathologies.
Road Map: 1) Argument: Vagrancy is a phenomenon that is insidiously entrenched in hierarchical
structural forces in Canada
2) Counter Argument: Personal failures as another cause of homelessness
3) Concession and Refutation: Vagrants can be adversely influenced by oppressive structures that
are, in fact, the contingencies of personal failings
II.Body Paragraphs
1.Argument: Vagrancy springs from the structural forces
Support 1: Human beings and environments are indivisible and the invisible societal structure can
be beneficial to certain people, but not the others (Maluccio et al., 1992)
Support 2: The low social status of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Refutation and new argument: The flaws of overreliance on individual pathology model
Gaps: Insufficient to perceive the underlying root causes of homelessness
Support 1: Deficit based model to comprehend homelessness only generates welfare dependency
and offers parochial solutions
Support 2: Blaming the victims shifting the negative conditions from social to personal
III.Conclusion
Restate the thesis: Homelessness in Canada is a social problem derived from structural inequality
as opposed to personal choice
Summarize: Blaming on personal failings understand the causes of homelessness
Implication: A structural social work approach is required to deconstruct homelessness from
lawlessness through social transformation

Differences in Ethical, Legal, Regulatory Issues in B2B...
Differences in Ethical, Legal, and Regulatory Issues in Business to Business and Business to
Consumer Web Sites Like traditional brick and mortar establishments, business to business (B2B)
and business to consumer (B2C) Web sites face ethical, legal, and regulatory concerns. Although
both B2B and B2C sites share similarities in web based jurisdictional issues and general ethical
considerations, each site has its own specific concerns due to the end user relationship of the
consumer versus business (Schneider, 2004). Whether the end user is a business or consumer, there
is usually a transaction or sale of a particular product or service. Since the Internet launches online
business into the global marketplace, businesses should be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The B2B environment might have concerns such as non disclosure agreements with vendors,
electronic copyright issues, and vendor agreements. Since the business might have a vendor in
another country, it would also be important for the business to be cognizant of international
business laws. Both businesses involved in the B2B relationship might also want to ensure that
business contract language establishes which laws will govern any issues concerning jurisdiction
in case of litigation. Schneider (2004) also notes that international business confuses the tax laws
for many organizations conducting business on the Web (p. 316). Unlike the B2B relationship,
B2C e tailers would not likely have concern regarding contracts as consumers purchase product
directly from a business. Many business Web sites contain information for consumers to peruse
such as privacy policy information, a disclaimer, or terms and conditions for using the site.
Privacy also falls under legal issues for the B2C relationship and, some countries are far more
restrictive than others in terms of what type of information collection is acceptable and legal
(Schneider, 2004, p. 316). Consumers enter credit card and other personal information through
electronic retail sites, so it is essential for the site to be secure. Other legal issues that might arise in
the B2C relationship include misrepresentation of company products or services. Regulatory

The Gilgamesh Of The Epic Of Gilgamesh
The Epic of Gilgamesh consist of narratives in tablets that effectively forwards the ideology of
kingship in Mesopotamia through a compilation of themes. Gilgamesh outward appearance was
magnificent, but inwardly he was a relentless tyrannical king. The epic makes it clear that he
was beautiful, strong, and wise collectively these facts intertwine with him being one third god
and two third human. Oddly, Gilgamesh never effectively utilized his assets for the betterment
of his people; rather he used it for his own wishes. Despite, his abusive kingship, there was
always an overarching restorer of balance overtly seen through the themes of love, immortality,
religion, gods wrath, and womanly intervention. Ultimately, kings in Mesopotamia had absolute
power, but once it was abused, the gods intervened to restore order. The narratives, tablet by
tablet, served to critique the perception of kingship. King Gilgamesh, ruler of Uruk, was as
petrifying as one could imagine; in modern terms he would be labeled a terrorist. Yes, in some
respects he fulfilled his role as king; he built the great infrastructure of Uruk for his citizens, but
that in it of itself was not sufficient because his evils overweighed his good doings. He exploited
women for sexual gratification, he killed sons, he sacrificed warriors, and he essentially did what
he wanted when he wanted with absolutely no consideration of the people he reigned over. The
citizens were helpless, they sought refuge to a source

My Trip To Doylestown
The following is 100% true. It happened a while ago, but I ll do my best to put everything in as
much detail as I can remmeber. It s a story of the funniest thing that ever happened to me. I
believe I was 19 years old. My best friend Nick was 17 at the time. One day we took a trip out to
Doylestown, PA. The main reason for this was to go to the comic book store in town Cyborg
One Comics. Obviously this was back when I was still collecting comics. Nick had told me that
the store was one of the best in the area, so on one weekend (I don t remember if it was Satorday
or Sunday) we took a trip up there. I couldn t tell you today what book I bought from there. I was
never one for statues or other memorabilia but, I know that I bought... Show more content on

Being in the middle of the county, all of the major county court cases take place here, but I
digress. Anyway, like most small towns, Doylestown has a Main Street. The only Wendy s in
Doylestown is on Main Street. At the time, the Wendy s wasn t an overly large building. We go
inside and order lunch. Minor details escape me in this story. I can tell you that what I
remember next is something that I affectionately call The Wendy s Incident . I don t remember
what we had for lunch, how many people were in the dining room or even what time it was.
What I do remember makes me break out in laughter even today and it s something that I
occassionally try to recreate (to a degree). During lunch, I felt a burp coming on. I let loose with
it and took my hands and pushed on my stomach as the burp happened. The issue with this is that
the burp kept coming and the volume seemed to increase exponentially with the length of the burp.
All I can remember is that the burp was almost inhuman and at the time, the crew was in the back
of the restaruant in the kitchen. If you re ever seen the movie Revenge of the Nerds II, think of the
scene where Booger meets Snotty and Snotty burps and shatters the mirror in his room. This was

asking questions, she gets being lovable, and she runs to her family since the huntsman stops to

Women s Roles And Roles
Women form a significant section of any society and have contributed towards its growth and

The Rockefeller Foundation conducted a national study by offering funding to the Global
Strategy Group to carry out a national level study on the American people. The national poll was
conducted on 1,011 adults who aged 18 and older (Ely amp; Rhode, 2010). The goal of the poll is
to observe the views of people within the United States of America regarding the role of women in
the position of leadership. The result reveals that businesses are falling short due to limited
opportunities for women to occupy leadership roles and responsibilities. Having women within
organizations especially at the leadership positions is not only beneficial for the growth and
development of the company, but it also plays a key role in advancing the careers of those
women. There are several ways in which this pattern or mindset can be rectified such as providing
equal pay and rights which create equity, altering office policies and methods that can be beneficial
to both genders.
The United States had one of the highest service proportions in the world for women, which has
now decreased more than several European countries. The highest rate of women employment was
during 1999 which was 74% for women between 25 and 54. This rate has declined to 69% at
present (Rhode, 2016). However, there are several other countries where the percentage of women
employees has sustained to hike. These

  • 2. My Experience With My Grandfather My Grandfather s Lessons I remember when I was young, I loved fishing with my Grandfather because he was an amazing man who always cared for his family. It was one of the most exciting things I did as a kid because I felt like I was bonding with my grandfather. He was always fun to be around when he made jokes, played around, and taught me life lessons. Reeling in fishes was an accomplishment for me and my grandfather even if it was just one, we found it as if we did something great together. I remember sitting in the boat with him one Saturday morning as we were waiting to catch a fish. The weather was chilly 55 degrees as I recall. He was wearing his same old fishing gear [black rain boots with old 49ers hat and a white tee shirt with dark blue pants]. The sun was barely rising and I felt amazing, the scenery was beautiful I could see the orange/redness light of the sun rising. The boat was an old boat, but I could tell because of the green fading away on both sides, wasn t to big ether just enough to fit 3 adults and the motor looked as if it was worn out. When I was there I didn t understand why the fishes weren t biting, I was contemplating if the worms were good. As the time passed me and my grandfather didn t say much, I felt odd by it because we usually spoke, but this time I could feel it was different. I could not understand why he was so quiet, and as I was about to speak my grandfather told me Bryan as you get older there s morals you must stick with , I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Reaction Time Lab Report How does temperature affect reaction time? As the temperature of a substance is heated, the substance gains more energy and the particles of that substance move faster. When an Alka Seltzer tablet is dropped into the water, the particles of the water collide with the particles of the tablet more often with more energythan water of a lower temperature, which contains less energy (Effect of Temperature on Reaction Rate). Reaction rate can be changed/controlled by the amount of energy in the substance and how often the molecules collide (Factors Affecting the Speed Rates of Chemical Reactions). When temperature is increased, the activation energy is increased, which is the cause of the chemical reaction. The activation energy is the minimum... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Essay Carpal Tunnel Syndrome The carpal tunnel is a passageway that runs from the forearm through the wrist. Bones form three walls of the tunnel and a strong, broad ligament bridges over them. The median nerve, which supplies feeling to the thumb, index (4th digit), and ring fingers (3rd digit), and the nine tendons that flex the fingers, passes through this tunnel. This nerve, also, provides function for the muscles at the base of the thumb (the Thenar muscles). Usually, carpal tunnel syndrome(CTS) is considered an inflammatory disorder caused by repetitive stress, physical injury, or medical conditions that cause the tissues around the median nerve to become swollen. The protective lining of the tendons within the carpal tunnel can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such conditions are known contributors to CTS. It is most likely that many cases of CTS occur from a combination of factors, including a predisposing medical condition exacerbated by work stress and psychological and social stressers. In many patients with CTS, an underlying cause for the disorder cannot be discovered. Disorders related to work that requires repetitive motion are increasing. They account for nearly half of all reported work related illness, and CTS is estimated to account for over 41% of these repetitive motion disorders. Researchers have defined six key risk factors in the workplace for the development of these disorders, including CTS: (1) repetition, (2) high force, (3) awkward joint posture, (4) direct pressure, (5) vibration, and (6) prolonged constrained posture. Through many of the studies I have read, many believe that incorrect posture may play a large role in the development of CTS, particularly in people who work at computer and other types of keyboards. The tendency to roll the shoulders forward, round the lower back, and thrust the chin forward can shorten the neck and shoulder muscles compressing nerves in the neck. This can affect the wrist, fingers, and hand. It has been difficult to obtain reliable data on the relation between repetitive hand and wrist tasks and CTS. Studies indicate that ... • 5. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Round Robin Schedulinging... 1.INTRODUCTION An operating system is an interface between the user of the computer and the computer hardware. The main purpose of the operating system is to provide user an environment where he can run the programs in the efficient manner. CPU is considered to be the heart of the system so it should be effectively used. Improper use of CPU can reduce the system s efficiency. Hence processes are been continuously running in the CPU to make it more efficient and have maximum utilization. The topic we have chosen is enhanced round robin scheduling. There is a reason for selecting round robin scheduling as it a very fair scheduling that gives equal time quantum to all process. This is the major advantage over all other scheduling algorithms. In operating system multi programming is a major issue. The main aim is to run several processes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This major drawback in Round Robin scheduling. Due to this system performance is degraded. More number of Context switches are been used. This leads to wastage of memory and time , and also leads to scheduler overhead. Due to this more number of Context switches ,Throughput is also very low. Due to all this disadvantages the existing Round Robin Scheduling algorithm is made unfit for the present real time systems. So these drawbacks are being limited in the proposed system. The Round Robin scheduling is sensitive to the time quantum. The following two cases arise for scheduling round robin algorithm If the time quantum is too small then the Round Robin scheduling becomes Processor sharing algorithm and hence Context Switches becomes high. If the time quantum is high then the Round Robin Scheduling becomes First Come First Serve algorithm. For every value of time quantum will have specific performance and will certainly affect the algorithm performance. The quantities which gets affect by this are Waiting time Turnaround time Number of Context switches Response ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Research Paper On Betty Friedan Betty Friedan: Women s Rights Women have virtually the same rights as men. However, the fault needing to be recognized in today s society is the way that women are treated. Even in simple areas, such as jobs, women are put on the back burner. A woman is able to become a CEO of a company, nonetheless, she will struggle twice as hard as a man would. Even as an employee, women are statistically paid less than men are. Betty Friedan believed that women should feel and be treated equal to men. Friedan fought for women to embody their power and worth. She was an activist for the women s rights movement and a founder of the National Organization for Women(NOW). Her book, The Feminine Mystique, connected with her readers by illustrating the standards that women were put under for decades. In the 60 s, women were viewed as nothing but maids and child bearers. Many women were hesitant to take a stand for this taboo subject; their own rights. Friedan took initiative when everyone else was afraid to. Betty Friedan s contribution clearly advanced the progression of women s equality. She accomplished this by writing her famous book, giving a debatable speech, and founding the National Organization for Women. Betty Friedan was born in 1921 in Illinois. She attended Smith College and received her degree in psychology. She graduated at age 21. After having her second child, she lost her job as a reporter. She felt that her life as a house keeper was not enough for her. Friedan wanted to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Concept of Encounter of Cultures in the Philosophy of... The Concept of Encounter of Cultures in the Philosophy of History ABSTRACT: A general problem of philosophical interests concerns the possibility of objective knowledge of other cultures and a past culture, as well as the adequacy of their reconstruction. The problem of cultural development is also crucial. By the criterion I develop, a culture which has expanded its potentialities in various independent forms is an open culture able to enter into dialogue with any other culture. 1. To begin with, I must mention that at first I intended to present my paper at the Section of Philosophy of History, because the point at issue here has a great concern to the concept of history and to the methodological approaches of historians. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The phenomenon of encounter of cultures has been known and described long ago, but in its definite meaning the theoretical analysis of the phenomenon may be dated by the late 19th and early 20th cc., the period of shaping of contemporary anthropology and philosophy of history. In this connection, in the field of the philosophy of history the work of Arnold Toynbee ought to be mentioned who has put forward a conception and a model for systematic representation of the whole diversity of historical facts concerning the encounter of societies, civilizations, cultures in space and time, (1) and, in the field of ethnology, the work of the American cultural anthropologists, of Franz Boas school, in which theory and practice of intercultural and cross cultural research have been initiated in different forms. (2) 3. In such a broad meaning of the term, the history of mankind presents itself as a variegated picturesque panorama of encounters of cultures. John, Patsy, and an unknown male murdered JonBenet Ramsey. Now I am going to give you some background on this subject. The policeofficers had a lot of suspects and a lot of evidence and the evidence pointed to a lot of people, but then there was evidence that pointed to someone else. John Douglas, a former head of the FBI s Behavioral Science Unit hired by the Ramseys to examine the case, theorized the note was written before the murder by an inexperienced, young perpetrator who borrowed lines from the movies Ransom ( she dies ) and Speed ( Don t try to grow a brain ). , this is a line from the article 20 Year Murder Mystery Who Killed JonBenet Ramsey (2016) Michael Baden has 60 years of experience and he thought that this ransom note was strange or unusual . Like the length of the ransom note it was really long so it would have took time to write it. Asking for $118,000 is a very specific amount and the other weird part is that not very many people knew that John Ramsey had got this exact same amount for a bonus. And Michael Baden, a board certified forensic pathologist with both former District Attorney Alex Hunter as well as Ramsey supporter Lou Smitt regarding the JonBenet case says, The whole ransom note is, in my experience of 60 years, not a usual ransom note. I don t think it was written by an outside stranger. And more so than the writing itself is how it was done: the pen, the paper, the length of time it took to do it without being discovered. Then there is the extremely unusual ransom request for $118,000: Only a very few people knew John Ramsey had [just] gotten a $118,000 bonus. (Bane, 2016). This was also in the same article previously mentioned. • 11. Pros And Cons Of A Movie Watching The Movie Rated R Have you ever watched a movie that was rated R ? I believe that ratings on movies and shows should not exist because a movie could be rated R but the content in the movie is not bad at all, all kids will act differently to what they watch but if there has to be ratings I think I have a better rating system for all kids and parents to help. When you watched the movie you either ignored the rating or your parents let you watchit on your own at home. If they let you watch it, because they already watched it themselves, then they are on the right track. I m here to tell you why I think parents should be the ones to tell what their kid watches by actually watching the movie first so that ratings will not exist at all! When you watch an R rated movie what s usually in the movie? It s either sexual content, nudity, violence and/or language. When parents see an R rating they think that it has sexual content, nudity, violence and language so then they don t let their kid watch it. Sometimes it s just rated like this because it swears a couple times. I also doubt that a grade 7 has never heard the F word before from their parents or a school friend. It really should not be rated R for that. Another reason for parents to watch the movie first instead of just looking at the rating is because the movie could be rated 13+ but then have other bad things happen in the movie that they are not supposed to watch. If the parents had not just read the rating and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Picasso s World War II Picasso s World War II Revolutionary Painting Right from the brink of World War II in 1939, an abundant amount of distinguished artwork was created in response to the events that took place before, during, and after the War. There is one painting in particular that I am referring to. This painting is none other than, famous artist, Pablo Picasso s painting of Guernica. Guernica is a famous piece of artwork created in 1937. It depicts the bombings of a Basque Countryvillage in northern Spainby German and Italian warplanes during the Spanish Civil War. The attack was unsuspected and unavoidable. Nearly three quarters of the people s homes were demolished and a large number of their population perished. In the following paragraphs, I would like to talk briefly about Guernica in the sense of its content and historical context that pertain to World War II. In the painting known as Guernica, Picasso portrays a scene of endless violence, suffering, and of course death. When one looks at the painting of Guernica as a whole, one can see that there is a lot of conflict going on all at once in this painting. When breaking it down, first one might notice that in the top left hand corner of the painting there is a bull. The bull is a symbol for the Spanish rituals of bullfighting which than pertains to the nature of death from how all these bulls are killed in these fights to the death. Next, one can depict in the bottom left corner of the painting, a figure who is lying face up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Realistically, the individual is supposedly more likely to risk a slightly worse worst case scenario for a markedly better best case scenario (similar to the large numbers of individuals who gamble money in hope of winning more) . The individual may choose to dismiss the Difference Principle in favour of a riskier, but more beneficial principle for example, that the rich get richer . Rawls argues that the individual will adopt conservatism to ensure that all parties may pursue their own ends irrespective of (dis)advantages, simply because of their arbitrary placement in society. It may also be plausibly argued that the gravity of the situations differs, and that when charged with the creation of a society, one is more likely to act conservatively because the dGBgbGGBecision carries potentially negative, far reaching ramifications. It is similarly asserted that Rawls Maximin Principle may eliminate beneficial inequalities . For example, should the annual income of two people be $100,000 each, this would be a less prosNGGANGNAperous system than one where one person ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Affirmative Action Should Not Be A Program Combat racism, with more racism. That is a strategy that seems so backward in thought that it should not be a program in modern American government and yet is still very active today. Affirmative action is defined as the practice of improving the educational and job opportunities of members of groups that have not been treated fairly in the past because of their race, sex, etc (Merriam Webster). Affirmative action creates a blatantly unfair advantage in college and job applications to non minority races and is ultimately a racist law. Affirmative action is most prominent in the College admission process, where its racial prioritizing is the most blatant. In 2005, it was found that the acceptance rates for African Americans at MIT were 98.7% higher than the acceptance rates for Whites or Asians (College Admission Officers). Affirmative Action was passed in 1961 by John Fitzgerald Kennedy to combat racial tensions in college admissions and the workforce. It gave an opportunity to minorities that may have been previously set back from racist laws and rules to have a chance at changing their lives for the better. This artificial raising of minority opportunities has lasted for more than two generations and has long outlived its purpose. Affirmative Action in its modern day use is racist at the expense of the non minority race(s), and was meant for minority advancement in a world where it was almost impossible. One of these music styles that was perhaps the most prominent music style to ever come out of Southern California was Surf Music. Surf music was a short lived phenomenon that occurred from 1961 to 1965 (Nostalgia, 2002). Along with the surf music craze, Hollywood also started producing numerous movies about surfing, including Gidget, and Endless Summer (St. James Encyclopedia, 2003 and Nostalgia, 2002). At the same time, he was spending a lot of time with the surfers on the beaches in California. He immediately became intrigued by the spirit of the surf culture, and the splendor of the ocean waves. He began experimenting with his music, trying to capture the rhythm and sounds of the ocean. He formed the group Dick Dale and the Del tones in 1961 (Wikipedia, 2003 and Bettenville). His live performances became a huge local draw, and his double picking guitar style was admired by many (even Leo Fender who asked him to test some of his new amplifier prototypes with the notion that if his amplifiers could survive Dick Dale s playing, they could survive anything) (Bettenville). At the end of 1961, he released his first single, Let s Go Trippin , which is considered to be the first surf rock recording (St. James Encyclopedia, 2003). Think about this, when a child is young they are given crayons and paper to occupy their time; mothers sing to their babies or play them classical music. From a young age we are taught to create, and we really are all artists. We create until creation is deemed nonessential, and the art projects we work into our everyday routine are demoted to electives. Funds for Education have been cut in over 80% of U.S. schools in the last 10 years, and the first programs to leave are often art education. Harvard President Drew Faust recently wrote. It can connect us to the past, present and the future. Throughout history our greatest minds have often merged discovery and art, the geniuses we learn about in history aren t only math matachins or scientists, but artists on top of that. Einstein stressed the importance of having a creative mind, once saying I m enough of an artist to draw freely from my imagination, which I think is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world. Without art we would have a much more narrow view of our past, and future generations will have a narrow view of our current events. Sure, you could say that we still have a history without art; but without photos, paintings, and sculptures would we really fully grasp our past? By cutting our generation off from art education we are cutting off future generations from learning too. I will advance the thesis that the Human Development Index (HDI) is a better measure of economic performance than the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per capita. By saying that the HDI is a better system to measure economic performance, I mean that because the HDI highlights the trend between longevity, education and economic growth, it calculates a better analysis of an economy (Costa, Steckel 1997, p. 71). In contrast, the GDP per capita only accounts for the gross domestic productwithout paying any attention to other factors of an economy (Hawthorn, Sen 1997, p. 60). With this being said, my thesis asserts that the HDI is a better measure for economic performance because it considers significant factors that play large roles in an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As I just defended the importance of considering longevity in an economy, I will now explain why it is imperative to consider education when calculating the development and performance of an economy. To begin, when a population is educated they will have the opportunity to adapt new technology and new ideas to enhance their productivity and output, which is an essential part of competing against other economies in the international arena. To be more specific, when a population is able to adapt new technology and idea they increase their speed of production, which, in turn, increases their output, which means, in simple terms, new technology and ideas increase an economy s growth because it allows them to produce more, faster and trade more, faster. This is best explained in Invest in Humans, Technological Diffusion, and Economic Growth that says, the better educated farmer is quicker to adopt profitable new processes and products since, for him, the expected payoff from innovation is likely to be greater and the risk likely to be smaller; for he is better able to discriminate between promising and unpromising ideas, and hence les likely to make mistakes (Nelson, Phelps 1966, p.70) , while the less educated farmer is prudent to delay the introduction of new technology until he has concrete evidence of its profitability, which is often from his ... He believed that while he was growing up, his mother had to different personalities. Shortly after, he began to believe he was more than one person. He felt that he was both the child he actually was as well as a wise old man. Jung had a lonely childhood. He was the only surviving child of his parents and when he wasn t dealing with their completely opposite personalities, he was being left out when all the kids in school played. Fortunately, he didn t mind being alone, on the contrary, he very much enjoyed the alone time he could get to think about and reflect on events. Ever since Jung was a boy, he looked deeper into the purpose of objects and events, asked theoretical questions that no regular boy would ask and came up with possibilities that no one could take seriously. Carl Jung was born on July 26th, 1875 in Kesswil, Switzerland. Shortly after graduating from the University of Zurich, Jung became a Psychiatrist. He went onto founding a new school of Psychotherapy called Analytical Psychology, eventually becoming a very famous Swiss Psychiatrist. Analytical Psychology is based on the idea that experiences dramatically shape who you are and the way you live your life as well as predict the way you will be living in the future. In the first two chapters of the novel Ekman seeks to address why people lie, what makes it so common to human behavior, and why society should not demonize lying. In the first chapter Ekman lays out the foundation of his argument by beginning with the basics of lying supported by real world examples. The novel starts with two examples of lying comparing a lieHitler told to a lie a suicide patient told. It s clear from the beginning that the act of lying is widespread and deceptively complicated. On the other hand, he was a detestable threat to the very existence of capitalism according to the millionaires and billionaires that controlled and still control this country. In David Michael M. San Juan s academic article Why Marx Was Right: Third World Edition , David shows that economic inequality exists not just within First World countries, but also exists on a global scale and affects Third World countries as well. The article begins with the definition of colonialism and a quote by Pope Francis detailing how poor countries become a simple means of raw resource providers: Colonialism, both old and new, which reduces poor countries to mere providers of raw material and cheap labor, engenders violence, poverty, forced migrations...precisely because, by placing the periphery at the service of the center, it denies those countries the right to an integral development. (Juan 3) He goes on to prove that this statement by the Pope is based upon data from the United Nations Development Report, which scores countries on the Human Development Index based on various factors. The article goes on to recount various stories from various researchers and documentaries, such as the story of the garbage chicken and mud cake , in which people from developing Third World countries are documented as eating these things so as to get something in their belly (Juan 4 5). He goes on, saying that these stories and the subsequent graphs provided in the article prove that there is an economic disparity. This disparity has been almost exclusively left alone, in favor of economic studies of First World countries. The article then begins to show the difference between the rich and poor, and how the combined wealth of the top 1 percent will overtake the bottom 99 percent (Juan 8). The article goes on to show that the Marxist interpretation of capitalist exploitation actually turns out to be accurate. The article references some disturbing facts, such as the fact that the 1,426 richest individuals have an aggregate net worth of US$ 5.4 trillion, which is more than the combined gross domestic product ... In the poems Mezzo cammin by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and When I have a fear by John keats, both poems themes are about the imminence of death and their unfulfilled dreams in life. There are many similarities in the poem but they are mostly in the beginning of the poems, the conclusion on the other hand is not similar. In Mezzo cammin the main theme of the poem is the reminisce of his dreams from the past. Keats poems emphasize a theme of the waste of a physical life and his fears associated with this waste. The similarities seen in the poem are for most part in the beginning of the text. Long fellow states that Half of his life is gone and Keats then states that may cease to be . They then proceed to express their fears of not being able to accomplish the goals that they had. Long fellows acknowledges his down falls from his past, stating The years slip from me and have not fulfilled the aspirations of my youth, to build some tower of song with lofty parapet (lines 2 3). Keats fears are also very similar as he uses the word Before multiple times, showing the reader his fears of dying before achieving the life goals that he has. When reaching the second part of the poems, the reader starts to see the differences between the poems. Keats starts to talk about the Cloudy symbols and the shadow . From the economies of scale standpoint, given that both Microsoft and Sony had traditionally been operating at a loss in hopes of making significant profit gains in software and game sales, even though both were taking steps to reduce their production costs later in 2008, a new entrant may need to either enter on a large scale or accept a cost disadvantage and consequently lower profits. Calista Roy s and Betty Neuman are two theorists that use two different types of models to encompasses the health, person, and the environment. Callista Roy uses a theory that promotes adaptation to the stimuli a person may encounter. Betty Neuman uses a theorythat promotes equilibrium in a time where a person will encounter stress. These theories allow the nurseto bring a knowledge to learn more about the person and the factors that influence their health. Although with any theory there are different approaches in how the nursing plan is done, but with the patient in mind, it makes the difference in care that is given and allows for better outcomes for the patient. Roy s adaptation model is described as promoting a person s adaptation in the four adaptive models which include physiologic needs, self concept, role function, and interdependent relations (Hood, 2014, p. 135). Roy uses the approach of adaptation in the response to external stimulus. A stimulus can elicit a response, but it is the way that a person can adapt to the stimulus that will allow the person to cope (Roy, 2014, p.135). For example, a person may encounter an illness but how the person deals with it and the resources at hand will make the difference in their coping. The land was owned by the community as a whole, known as Ejido land, and households were given land to work and live on in exchange for their agreement to follow the social aspects of the society. The system was a complex and effective web of public held positions for every aspect of civil society from police to mayordomos, or the people who tended to the saints for a year. • 36. How Qar Which Stands For Question Answer Relationship Explain QAR which stands for Question Answer Relationship. Is a strategy that helps you understand the four different types of questions that are asked before, during, and after reading. Therefore, knowing how to answer these questions will help you get more answers correct and help you find the answers faster. Now, where I can find answers to questions? QAR has two main categories. The first category is in the text/book: which means that the answers are supplied by the author. The second category is in my head: which means that the answers are based on the reader s ideas and experiences (prior knowledge). Let s look at the four different types of QAR s. So, if you look at your sheet of paper titled the Question Answer Relationships, you see that there are many boxes. However, we are going to focus on the top four boxes. The first box labeled Right There is usually the easiest to find in the text/ book because the answer is found Right There. It is usually found in one or two sentences. The second box labeled Think and Search is a little harder than the first (Right There). Which means that the answer will not be found in just one part of the text. It may be in several different sentences throughout the text/book and you may have to search through the text/book to find the answer. In addition, the reader has to make assumptions and put the answers that they found linking them together. The third box labeled Author and Me, this means that you are using the text/book and you ... It allows us to express joy, anger, sadness, love, pain, and bittersweet moments that we experience in our lifetime. Creating music can be simple or complicated, and it all depends on how we create it. We can create music easily with our bodies by tapping our shoes and snapping our fingers, or we can make it a more complex task by using our voice and musical instruments. Music is definitely an essential part of our social environment because it makes our lives more lively, interesting, and passionate. Moreover, music inspires not only musicians, singers, or compositors, but it also inspires dancers. Dancers that glide their feet, turn around, and jump at the rhythmic sounds while moving along with the music is what I find most captivating. I think that music transcends time because people of all ages can find a way to enjoy and express themselves through music. At last, I attended a ballet show at the Dance Theatre of Dalton, and enjoyed the dance as much I enjoyed the music. My favorite pieces of the night were the following: Touch The Sky, A group of twelve girls were standing proud and ready at the stage. All wearing beautiful dresses and a pair of glittery green wings. Their hair was fixed in a hair bun at the top of their heads, and also wore a bit of makeup that illuminated their smiling faces. The Importance Of Drinking Water In Bangladesh Introduction Safe drinking water is essential for healthy life, and United Nations (UN) General Assembly declared safe and clean drinking water as a human right essential to the full enjoyment of life [1]. Moreover, the importance of water, sanitation and hygiene for health and development has been reflected in the outcomes of a series of international policy forums [1]. These have also included health and water oriented conferences, but most importantly in the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) adopted by the General Assembly of the UN in 2000. The UN General Assembly declared the period from 2005 to 2015 as the International Decade for Action, Water for Life [1]. Access to safe drinking water is important as a health and development issue at national, regional and local levels. Bangladesh, a developing country from South Asian (SA) region also takes several steps for ensuring sanitation and safe drinking water facilities among the people. As a result, Bangladesh has made great progress in this sector. The government also claimed that it has achieved the MDG indicator of ensuring safe drinking water for 85% people of the country. • 40. Cognitive Theories And Theories Of Psychology INTRODUCTION There are many approaches that psychologists have developed in order to understand certain behavior. The most common approaches in psychology are psychodynamic, behavior, cognitive, humanistic, and biological approaches. The ultimate goal of each method is to help individuals change unhealthy thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. However, these different approaches use different techniques to form assumptions and explanations about abnormality. In this essay, cognitive and psychodynamic are the two approaches that will be discussed. Even though these two approaches have a few similarities, their differences are more obvious. COGNITIVE APPROACH The cognitive theory approach explains that people s thoughts or beliefs form certain behaviors and emotions. This theory was developed in the early 1960s, and it attempts to describe the behavior of humans by studying thoughts and reasoning process (Beck 1995). The automatic thoughts that we have about ourselves can affect emotions and self concept. Also, our global assumptions about other people and the world can be either positive and helpful or negative and destructive (Nolen Hoeksema 2014). The two founders of this view, Albert Ellis and Aaron Beck, claimed the dysfunctional thinking that influences negative emotions and maladaptive behavior is common to all psychological disturbances (Beck 1995).
