War On Terrorism Pros And Cons
Our war on terror begins with Al Qaida, but it does not end there, It will not end end until every
terrorist group of global reach has been found, stopped, and defeated. President George W. Bush
after 9/11. After the attack on the twin towers the Bush Administration and some of the United
States allies formed an organization that fought against terrorism, known as the war on terror. The
idea of the war on terror, that one day terrorism would be eliminated entirely, is a great idea but
we, as a nation, should have went about it differently. The war on terror has a negative influence
on the world as demonstrated by the increase in racial profiling, unethical use of torture, and the
decrease of privacy. Racial profiling has made the war

The Core Framework Of Paternalistic Leadership Style
Let s now turn our attention to the core elements of paternalistic leadership. In this section, we will
explore the core framework of paternalistic leadership style, before analysing two core theories of
motivation that drive the framework. At the end, we ll also explore the two separate strains of
paternalistic framework: benevolent and exploitative models.
The core framework
When it comes to leadership, a few core elements guide the way in which different leadership styles
organise and manifest. These are:
The decision making power Who has the power to decide?
The legitimacy of rule Where does the power come from?
Paternalistic framework is built around the authoritative idea that the leader is the person with the
power to decide and his legitimacy comes from his or her expertise. The leader has the final say in
making decisions and consultation is not required, as the leader is expected to make choices that
benefit the subordinates.
The subordinates are treated as an extended family and in a sense have a more partner like
relationship with the leader than in autocratic model, for example. The leader puts the wellbeing of
the subordinates at the centre of decision making and tries to ensure people are treated fairly.
Nonetheless, the power ultimately lies in the hands of the leader.
Furthermore, the power the rule comes from the leader s position and the idea that he or she is the
most capable of making the decisions. The legitimacy of rule relies on loyalty

My Religion Is Islam And Because Of Islam
My religion is Islam and because of Islam I have certain beliefs and bias in the religion. And it
also effects my interpersonal communication. Some of the beliefs are listed such as arrange
marriages, living a life with a family, praying, respecting the elders, giving importance to the poor
people and orphans, clothing for women and men.
I live in a country of Pakistan. And we have an Islamic religion. We usually do arrange marriages.
The marriage happened in the presence of the elders. They fix the date and meet with each other
family. Then they exchange gifts and sweets with each other. They make arrangements of
marriage by fixing the date. The groom and bride are not allowed to meet or talk with each
other. Sometimes the bride and groom has not seen each other. Then the date is fixed and
necessary arrangements are made for the bride and groom. All of the arrangements are made by
mostly the elders like the bride and groom close relatives. The purpose of the arrange marriages
with the elders permission is to make a long lasting relationship between the bride and the
groom. When the wedding is about to take place, several witnesses are there to evidence the
marriage. Then the bride and groom usually lives in the shelter of their parents or old relatives.
This was done to make sure that everything goes by smoothly and none of the traditions and
culture is ignored. Now there is an era of new generation. And also many people have been to
abroad and seen many cultures and

The Roman Republic
For Centuries the Roman Republic was ruled over by some twenty families of Patricians , these
families represented the upper crust of society, a society which prided itself on the continuation of
the family line. This system was threatened by the ideology of novitas which people achieved glory
not from there illustrious family history, but through merit. Cato the Elder and Gaius Mariuswere
not born of noble stock and thus represent two of the best examples of novus homo in action.
The Roman Republic s system was heavily stacked against a novus homo from the period of
200BC 100BC only 29 Consuls were of Plebeian background, which alludes to the fact the
having a good family genealogy, would undoubtedly benefit one political career. The Scipionic
epitaph of Scipio Baratus details the successes of a great Roman, who s honour and bravery, as
well as his occupation of the Aedileship, and the Consulship ultimately helped spring board the
career of his son Lucius Cornelius Scipio . From this we can see that fama, gloria, and a good
family background greatly help ones political ambitions, Marius and Cato both came from a
Plebeian background of which Marius took pride in going as far as accusing the aristocracy of
bitterness by despising him since he reached the Consulship without family connections or glory.
There might have been jealousy, and envy amongst the aristocracy that there rightful place was
being usurped by an outsider a Pleb

Coimbatore Essay
Coimbatore My enriching companion.
A human life consists of about 30,000 sunshine days during which time he builds multitudinal
relationships with family, friends, colleagues, acquaintances and strangers. Today I write about an
extraordinary relationship, one I share with a city called Coimbatore. My uncommon choice is not
due to a lack of human interactions but is a result of the breadth of my relationship with the city
and the enriching influence it has had on my life.
A metro city in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu, Coimbatore is a multi dimensional textile
haven. A young bride, I came to Coimbatore in 1993, ready to embark on an exciting journey that
encompassed a new home, new city and a new individual in my life, my husband.
Our manufacturing unit in Karur was a two hour drive from the city. The strenuous highway
commute meant that Manish was a weekend husband, shuttling between the mill and the city. I

Further divided into east and west zones, the parallel lanes had large row houses that shared
common walls. The construction was a dead give away of the interdependent nature of the society.
Shall we move on ? asked Loka.
Hmm, I responded.
Driving further north we arrived at Raja Steet, the silk hub of the city. The narrow market street
had stores on either side, some large showrooms, others singular stalls. Intrigued, I went to Shobha
Sarees. For the wedding, I had visited a number of such showrooms in Mumbai and Kolkatta but
the service I received at Shobha was second to none. The attendants dutifully displayed their wares,
meekly waiting for me to decide. In the 30 minutes I spent there, I discovered that women were
treated with utmost respect in the city. In hindsight, I might even add that they were truly revered.
To know Coimbatore, you must know its food Ma Loka chirped.

Public Challenges Of The Australian Public Faces
Amidst the information age, the Australian public faces perhaps the defining societal challenge of
the 21st Century, the unprecedented governmental surveillance of metadata. Metadata surveillance
refers to the recent legislation passed in March of this year, which sees compulsory retention of
information by Australian telecommunication corporations, the individualised communications data
of each Australian citizen.
The recent legislation passed encompass an unprecedented surveillance of the masses, which will
result in the creation of a perpetual surveillance state based purely on broad assumptions about
potential terrorists activities. Concerns have arisen due to the proposals that encompass the
compulsory data retention of all Australians telecommunication networks, which entrenches passive
mass surveillance under the undefined concept of metadata. This mandatory retention of metadata
for up to two years allows governmental organisations unprecedented access into the online activity
of all Australians, a subversion of the legal presumption of innocence by treating all individuals as
potential suspects through pre criminal investigation tactics. As a citizen, I believe this policy
embodies the most fundamental violations of human privacy. It is without doubt this bill has
obscured our rights behind a discourse of technological subjectivity, allowing for the creation of a
framework within which rules can be adjusted and expanded through ministerial regulations, the

Criticism Of The Dead By Margot Norris
Margot Norris criticism is about the silencing of women, I used this one because it helps with
that point of view I want to back up in my own essay as well. Norris argues that the silencing of
women in The Dead proves to make the feminist criticism stronger. She describes in depth the
characters that are silenced and the ways that they are silenced and her view of on the feminist
end of things. She supports that these women are silenced and makes a strong argument about
it. But, overall, she says we read the novel as we choose to. Some readers may see it as different
and some may not. I used two other dissertations as sources because I wanted to get someone
from the educational point of view, a criticism of someone that is similar to mine and talking
about this subject as well. I spared them equally and only used parts of them so far in this
particular prospectus, but I chose Badcock s essay because she explains how women were
treated in Joyce s lifetime. How the background of what I m trying to convey is important. How
Joyce saw women and how that was bled into Gabriel s character. Beckham has the view of
masculinity and how Gabriel s ego is constantly being deflated. The argument that can be made is,
he attempts to use these female characters to boost that ego, yet it doesn t work that way. The
criticism is essentially for Gabriel s ever changing masculinity, but it can be used as an opposing
or for point of view, as well. I want to focus on the masculinity factor and

Force Awakens Vs Rogue One Analysis
#1 Draft Pick: Force Awakens Over Rogue One When you think of the number one draft pick,
the majority of the time football comes to mind. Well, this is not in this case. The number one
draft is the Star Wars movie which is the seventh movie in the series. That one fairs far better
than the antithetical film Rogue One. The Force Awakens occurs thirty years after the Galactic
Empire is defeated. The galaxy is faced with a new threat from an evil villain named Kylo Ren
and also the First Order which is a military dictatorship. A defector stormtrooper FN2817 also
known as Finn escapes the realm of the darkside and Kylo Ren. He ends up on Tatooine, which is

For both movies, it is a little confusing in the beginning because of the new characters in the
beginning of the movies and you just jump right into the plot line. The Force Awakens plot line
seems to make more sense throughout the movie and it s easier to understand if you have
watched the other movies. It has the same characters as the previous movies but there are a few
new characters. In The Force Awakens, the movie takes place at least 20 years after Return of
the Jedi. Princess Leia and Han Solo have a son together, and becomes evi. Rogue One has new
characters in it and doesn t fit as well as it should because of the new characters, which makes it
a little more complicated to follow along with since there is a lot of new characters to keep track
of. When watching the movies, watching them in order by movie number is ideal. Rogue One fits
in after the Empire Strikes Back and before Return of the Jedi because the plot line places the
movie in that time period. The Force Awakens fits in after Return of the Jedi because that is what
the timeline places the movie

My new squad leader came to the unit and within weeks was becoming involved in addressing
some of the problems that were created by the leadership void. He volunteered to become our
unit s barracks NCO and instituted new rules aimed at addressing the alcohol infused parties.
My leader sought and received the commander s support to move the junior enlisted Soldiers to
the first two floors of the barracks and moved the NCOs to the last two floors. He also managed
to have the staff duty runner and staff duty NCO increase the number of barracks checks
throughout their shifts. I do not remember exactly how much time elapsed before he invited the
section out to Pizza Hut so he could explain what he expected of us and what we should demand
from him. At first it seemed like one of those mandatory events that did not really serve a purpose
but just seemed to take away my personal time. However, little did I know what impact this one
event would have on me and stick with me throughout my career. That was an interesting concept
to comprehend, the expectations versus demands. My squad leader laid out his leadership
philosophy and discussed topics that ranged from military bearing and physical training to military
and civilian education. It was at that moment I realized I admired and respected some of the
leadership qualities he displayed. Then he went into detail about his reasoning for what he did with
the barracks. He

Employee Theft Essays
Essay 5 Are you a victim of employee theft? Did you know that employee theft has cost from small
businesses to major Fortune 500 companies over $37.14 billion in 2010 alone? Fraud against
business includes the theft of physical assets such as cash or inventory. Essentially there are two
types of inventory fraud: physical loss and financial statement fraud. Inventory shrinkage is the term
use in accounting to describe the loss of inventory. Loss of inventory might be due to shoplifting,
employee theft, damage, etc. Inventory fraud can occur in any company. Nearly 50% of retail
inventory shrinkage comes from employee theft. Dr. Hollinger, who conducts the National Retail

Relationship Between Indentured Servants And Slaves
The typical colonial planter s views were inconsistent due to the exploited non white races within
the vast majority of indentured servants and the economic manipulation of the British government.
Indentured servants and slaves were overworked by their masters because exploitive colonial
planters and plantation owners pushed them to the degree that they eventually died at a very early.
When indentured non white servants migrated to Virginia in the seventeenth century, they were
immediately put to work because masters sought to gain wealth as soon as possible and lead forty
percent of these servants to die before their four year term was finished (Jovanovich, 1984).
Inhumane exploitation within plantations were regularly colonial planters pushing

The Standard Model Of Particle Physics
We all live in a complex universe and human is curious about by nature. What is the world made
of? This is an enormous progress era that allows humans to find some answers to their curiosity.
And string theory is the recent attempt of humans to answer this curiosity. Our basic science would
explain to us that the world is made of matter. This ordinary matter is made of atoms which is
composed of the basic components, electrons which are around the nucleus,a nucleus that is
composed of neutrons and protons and both contain smaller particles known as quarks. The
Standard Modelof particle physicsteaches us the subatomic composition of the universe. It tells
the fundamental building blocks which out of this is what the world is made of and the forces in
which these blocks interact. The basic building blocks include the six quarks and their other six
are leptons. As far as we remember, the four fundamental forces that are present in the universe are
gravity, weak nuclear forces, strong nuclear force, and electromagnesim. All the behavior relating
to particles and forces is described by the Standard Model but except gravity. It seems hard to
prove and describe this force in microscopic forms. Over the years, it seems hard to formulate the
quantum theory of gravity. In the attempt to describe the microscopic theory of gravity, the string
theoryemerged. The they attempt to complete, unify and give a consistent description of the
fundamental structure of the universe. This

Cultural Relativism And Diversity
According to society s knowledge, many can come to an agreement that cultural relativism and
diversity can play a huge effect on whether different cultures and traditions share the same respect
for morals and values towards each other. However, these two things can be considered as two
widespread theories that are used to explain the differences amongst different varieties of cultures,
their ethics, and their morals. Between the two theories, both characterize the moral, ethical, and
societal differences that diverse cultures experience. From recalling the discussion of whether
everything is relative cultural, relativism is defined as to the aspect of all beliefs, customs, and
ethics being relative as to the individual within his/her own social... Show more content on

We should come together and reach an understanding of each other, and move beyond a simple
tolerance of life. We should try to embrace and honor the rich dimensions of diversification that is
embodied within each individual in a way that is customary to fit one s personality. This is better
known as their own characterization or virtue. In Benedict s The Case for Moral Relativism he
states, It is hard for us, born and brought up in a culture that makes no use of the experience, to
realize how important a role it may play and how many individuals are capable of it, once it has
been given an honorable place in any society... (page 133). From this, he claims that from
childhood to adulthood we are raised within certain standards of morals and considered to be
categorized within groups. These standards are unique to each group of people. As we grow out
of childhood, we become aware of the set of morals and values that have a tendency to change
over age and time. I personally do believe that morals will continue to change overtime, and due to
this, different culture variations will hold different cultural values and morals. It is hard to imagine
a world in which we all believe the same things are right and wrong. In Why Morality Is Not
Relative James Rachels summarizes the theory into one brief statement: To many thinkers, this
observation Different cultures have different moral codes has seemed to be the key to
understanding morality (page 139). The idea behind this quote was to share his point of view;
variations in diversity hold different types of moral views and interprets these views differently

Essay on International Copyright vs. Online Piracy
Humans create. We sell what we make for profit on this modern marvel of a global market. The
times we live in are the golden days of information and technology. As we stride towards better
and more efficient computers and software, information becomes easier and easier to obtain. But
with this new era of technological advancement comes with something else as well; art.
Television shows, music, books, video games, and movies are blooming as media is more
recognized on a global scale. However, humans always want something for less of a cost. We go
out of our way to get the things we want, and if they are not accessible to us whether because of
cost or availability; we find a way to acquire it. The internet has brought upon a revolution of...

This new function of file sharing was dubbed Peer to Peer (P2P) sharing. This allowed users to
share files through an app based network rather than just downloading off a site directly. Napster
was eventually shut down after a long drawn out court battle. Many other P2P services followed
in Napster s wake, but were eventually shut down due to easily being tracked by the government.
Thus, a new method of piracy was needed, one that boasted anonymity for users. The Pirate Bay
answered with Bit Torrents. Bit Torrents allowed users to download from other users, but rather
than from just one, bits of a downloaded files are randomly pieced together from thousands of
sources. However, The Pirate Bay, unlike other sites, was different. Its servers, as well as the men
who founded the site, are Swedish. Sweden s copyright laws are very lose, especially on content
protected by foreign entities. American (as well as other nations ) copyrights don t stand in
Swedish courts. This seemingly untouchable strategy still stands today, as The Pirate Bay is the
largest online piracy site in the world. Today, online piracy is a widespread issue. People do so
for a variety of reasons, the biggest of which is money. Stuff is expensive. Why spend $15 on

fundamentally an un solvable issue. The next, and the easiest to fix, reason why people pirate
online is because of unavailability of certain

Resurrection Of Jesus
I believe that within the Gospels in the Bible we are able to find a deeper understanding of God
s unbelievable love for us as it discloses God s true purpose for Jesus life, which is so much more
than just showing us how to be good people. Jesus came to strengthen his understanding. Bruce
Bickel and Stan Jantz said I Knowing the Bible 101: A Guide to God s Word in Plain Language
that As a man, Christ knew the struggles that we face in our daily lives. He was not immune to
temptation, pain, and sorrow. (p. 220) This was so that God could carry out his plan to save us,
which Bickle and Jantz described like this Luke includes this quote of Jesus, which gives the best
statement of His purpose: And I, the Son of Man, have come to seek and save those like him who
are lost. (Luke 19:10). (p. 221)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

at that time. I also see his resurrection in a new light after the reading this week, because I knew
that it was God s plan, but I never really looked at it as an act of service like described by Bickel

Parental Leave Policy Analysis
Parental Leave
The need for paid family leave has always been there, but finally is coming to the forefront of the
presidential election in 2016. Both democratic front runners have policies that they have spoken
about openly and even a few republicans had some bare bones policies, but those politicians did
not make it this far. The best and most inclusive policy in my opinion is the one of Bernie Sanders.
Sanders supports and is cosponsoring the FAMILYAct which would provide 12 weeks of paid
family and medical leave to care for a sick loved one or for the birth of a child. Also, he supports the
Healthy Families act that would guarantee 7 days of paid sick leave to every worker. The last part
of his plan is to support the Guaranteed Paid Vacation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Finally, as millennials start to gain some power and pull in the workforce after graduating from
college and starting families of their own it is starting to get some traction. The generation as a
whole is not willing to compromise their work life balance to fit the societal norm (Gilbert,
2011). The demands of the generation that is larger than baby boomers will not be stifled,
especially when the United States has many countries to catch up to when it comes to workers
rights policies like family leave. It is estimated that millennials will be over 50% of the
workforce in the next 4 years (PWC, 2016). That kind of majority in the workforce and thus
voting population forces change and opens windows for policy makers that have been patiently
waiting in the wings for the chance to push their policies through. Sanders policies that he is
supporting and co sponsoring are a perfect example of this. Sanders has supported family leave
since the early 1980s but did not have the policy window to push his policy through. Power
structure within society is something else that is changing with the millennial generation.
Millennials are a generation that is very aware of who has power in society and why they have it.
As a whole they are fighting to reverse the inequity and racism that is often found within that power.

Schizophrenic Essay
Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder of the brain. Schizophrenia also has the most negative
stigma attached to it as well. People who view schizophrenia in a negative aspect, tend to think that
schizophrenic people are all violent and unpredictable (The Leap Institute, 2013). This is not always
accurate because schizophrenic symptoms vary in drastic ways. The common symptoms of
schizophreniaare hallucinations, hearing voices, paranoid thoughts, anosognosia (poor insight),
confusion, forgetfullness, unfocused, and isolation/withdraw from others. The more negative
symptoms are a decreased motivation, lack of energy, and lack of facial expressions (The Leap
Institute, 2013).
Comer (2015) explains that schizophrenia comes in many variations with similar features (Comer,
2015). People who suffer from schizophrenia may have symptoms that may worsen and cause them
to be disorganized and dishevelled. Other schizophrenic people may have their symptoms managed
and/or hidden and may seem normal. Schizophrenic symptoms are unwanted and do not go away
but can managed. Some sufferers do not have the resources, or are unaware of their condition and

The Digital Human Activity On Social Networking Sites

networks have been the pulse of human society, traffic on these social networking sites currently
rival that of the traditional Web. The digital human activity on social networking sites has generated
a tremendous amount of data and due to the availability of affordable and portable digital devices,
the social interactions or activities on these networking sites can be measured and stored in digital
formats. These data contain a lot of important information and had been used in testing numerous
sociological hypothesis and also modeling systems that depend on human activities and research in
this area is actively ongoing in the research community. The social interaction as the result of the
human activities on these networks generate a non trivial topology in the process of time. %After
the discovering of the ``heavy tail distribution , the small world phenomenon and high clustering in

They are broken down to release energy in the animal body. Lipids are any organic compounds
that are fatty acids and don t dissolve in water but do in organic solvents. Fatty acids can be
found in natural oils, waxes, and steroids. Proteins are macromolecules that do everything in the
cell. They are tools and machines that make things happen. Nucleic acids are long strands of
nucleotides, and function primarily in storage and transmission of genetic information. There are
two types of nucleic acids, DNA and RNA. DNA is the genetic material of all cellular organisms,
and RNA sends out messages from the information that is held in the DNA. These four
biomolecules are metabolized by the animal body. Each biomolecule is broken down in a different
process. The end result of each process is the creation of usable energy for the body. This energy is
used to work and generate other chemical reactions that help the body move and think.
Carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids each provide energy to different places within the
body that, in turn, stimulate other chemical reactions to occur, creating a chain reaction of
chemical reactions throughout the body. The metabolization of these major

Humans Discover Nuclear Fission Essay
Humans Discover Nuclear Fission
It seems as though our fellow Earthlings deserve more credit then we have given them in the past;
they have seemingly discovered the so called, Nuclear Fission. The situation on earth has not been
reported on in over a century, yet they have advanced rather rapidly; in fact more than they can
handle.
Nuclear Fission, as discovered here in Trantor, has both benefits and drawbacksin society.
However, earth is an obscure planet with rather demanding creatures that in the past have used
technology and knowledge negatively. Within the last hundred years, this discovery had made a
rather large impact on the people of earth. Amateurs, as they are, they have made their lives easier,
yet harder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(We must keep in mind that because humans cannot fly, they have silly vehicles which do indeed
produce terrible pollution; a major problem on earth.) Nuclear power plants (factories that have
been built on earth to create such processes) can be fairly costly to build. However, a nuclear plant
would only put a significant amount of radioactivity into the environment if there was some type of
accident as compared to coal plants which put radioactivity into the environment as part of their
normal operations. In this perspective, nuclear fission is an advantage. On the other hand, should a
nuclear meltdown occur due to an uncontrolled reaction, dangerous radiation would be released
potentially harming people. Another similar situation that arises is the storage of waste products
which again leads to the same issue of safety; is it worth the risk?
Human society, cultures, and politics too have affected the development of nuclear fission and its
applications. Modern cultures promote the use of nuclear energy, saying that it will prosper for the
future; however, more conservative cultures are unsure about what it will lead to. Different
mentalities have lead to both positive and negative results of nuclear fission.
The waste products of fission were found by humans to have been useful

Viccio and Martin staff accountant Jane Ashley was assigned to work on an audit team with one
senior auditor Frankie Small. The audit they were to perform was on the top paying client of
Viccio and Martin, Models Inc.. Jane had spent time working for the firm while finishing her
academics, and had been present for many other audits. This left her excited to show her employer
all she had learned during this first assignment. Jane was away at school when the yearend inventory

The next stakeholder is the clients themselves, the decision made on handling the discrepancies
will affect the future of the company and its employees, as they could be out of work if the
company closes. Another stakeholder is the accounting firm; If they decide to do the right thing it
could cost them current and future revenue, again possibly affecting employees and their future
earnings as well. The last stakeholder affected by the decision is Jane herself; she has her morals
and reputation to consider as well earnings potential for the future.
The decision making process for Jane should include looking at several approaches and
stakeholder impact analysis. The stakeholders should be prioritized and the impacts on each
looked at thoroughly before a decision is made. There is not any scenario where signing off on
the false information will have a positive impact on any of the most important stakeholders. With
that said, Jane should tell her superiors that she is not comfortable signing off on the audit as it
stands. In doing so she runs the risk of losing her job, on the other hand she is taking a stand for
herself and the two top stakeholders, the bank and the suppliers. Jane must be careful in how she
proceeds as confidentiality is expected. Reporting the issue to the appropriate entities is considered
a breach of that confidentiality in the US. However, this case is in Canada, where it is the duty of

Mathematician Vs Aerospace Engineer
Everybody has to grow up and someday, a future career has to be chosen. This choice is very
difficult and hard for some people. Two great choices would be a mathematician and an aerospace
engineer. Mathematician and aerospace engineering are two interesting and unique job choices, but
are highly different and offer different opportunities. These jobs have different working styles,
outlooks, environments, education needed, and salary. These jobs are also similar in a lot of ways.
First of all, aerospace engineering and mathematicians offer different working styles and job
descriptions. The skills needed for this job are very similar, but at the same time very different.

Job growth is very important when choosing a job. Most of the time, a person would want to
pick a career that is growing fast because there are more opportunities. Job growth is favorable to
aerospace engineers if they know C++ programming(OOH). However, not all aerospace
engineers know C++ programming, and in the case, the job can be on the decline. Also
according to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, more and more companies are trying to
provide access to space. The more companies trying to get to space, the more aerospace
engineers needed. According to Sokanu, mathematicians are growing 21.4%, while aerospace
engineers are declining 2.3%. Mathematicians have a much faster growth than most jobs are
predicted. Even though the percentage is higher for mathematicians, there are way more jobs
for aerospace engineers. There are only 4,000 projected mathematicians projected in 2026
compared to the 73,800 aerospace engineers that are projected and only 900 more jobs are
predicted to come(OOH). According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, mathematicians are
predicted to grow because of the increase in smartphone usage and social media, which will
increase the amount of stored data usage. This being said, aerospace engineers as of now have
the advantage. Even though the job is on the decline, there are still way more jobs available and
there will be for a while. However, way down in the future, there could be a lot more

Chemotaxis Lab Report
Genetic interference of Caenorhabditis Elegans within the process of Chemotaxis Abstract For
the majority of animals on earth, responding to chemical stimuli could mean the difference
between life and death. Taste is an example of sensing chemical stimuli however, this response is
not entirely dependent on genes, as tasting something will not necessarily trigger a gene to
activate. Within a simpler organism however, such as Caenorhabditis Elegans, there is a
complex behavior that is mediated by three sensory neurons and transduce chemical stimuli to
move muscles that move an animal forward(attraction) or backwards(repulsion). By placing
these organisms on several plates which will inhibit genetic expression, and then testing
chemotaxis at a later point, it is possible to determine which genes are responsible for
chemotaxis. The global sample averages of the chemotaxis indexes of CEH 36 and CEH 27 are
somewhat inconclusive, with a mean of 0.5815 for CEH 36 and 0.6981 for CEH 27. Overall, the
results for CEH 27 are likely to show that there is a lack of genetic interference with chemotaxis
where CEH 36 is less definitive. Introduction Within C. Elegans, there are three primary... Show

Currently there is an incentive option to encourage Soldiers to extend for an additional year in
Korea; this is known as the Assignment Incentive Pay (AIP) Option, where you get an
additional three hundred dollars a month from the moment you sign the documents to extend
until you leave the country. Although this is a nice option to have, many Soldiers and leaders
still choose not to stay any longer than their one year obligation. As I see it the only way to get
Soldiers and leaders to stay is to make them stay. To develop a proper way ahead and remain
flexible to change as needed throughout the process, Kotter s eight step approach to change
would allow for a good strategy rather than plan to allow for the Army to accomplish this
mission. The first step on Kotter s approach is to develop a sense of urgency; just like most
things in life, if you re not being pushed by someone of something to accomplish a task than you
will wait and it may not get done to standard or at all. Step one, I would decide on a date that we
would start implementing the normal accompanied tour and send out a MILPER message across
the entire force to all active duty personnel s email. I would stress that we are transitioning back to
the longer tour to enhance readiness and detour any aggressions from North Korea. With Soldiers
returning with their families, there would a large need of construction of support facilities for these

Community Colleges were developed with the purpose of providing an affordable and accessible
education. By providing students with both academic and learning skills, community colleges
continue to remain an essential part of today s society. Throughout the years, community colleges
have continued to develop and transform to provide resources to meet the needs of their students.
As new community colleges began to develop, it is critical that they are aware of the political
issues that community colleges face. For this assignment, I will discuss the Universityof District of
Columbia Community Collegeand its governance. In addition, I will provide information on federal
and local government involvement, leadership structure, political culture, student demographics,
and community groups. Lastly, I will provide recommendations on how to address the issue of
governance.
History of University of District of Columbia Community CollegeIn 2008, a push by Barbra Long
was made to establish a community college in Washington, DC. The reason for this push was to
train residents of DC to be equipped with skills to allow them careers in the workforce, which
would aid in tax dollars and assisting with decreasing dependency on city resources by individuals
whom lacked skills (Molzt, 2008). In 2009, it was announced that a community college under the
name Community College of the District of Columbia would be formed to serve the needs of

The Irony Of American History Reinhold Niebuhr Summary
In The Irony of American History, Reinhold Niebuhr explains that an ironic situation is marked by
an inconsistency between intended actions and the eventual consequences of those actions, that
upon deep inspection, are not merely derived from coincidence, but rooted in some form of
connection between the two. Niebuhr notes that in order to discern irony, one must achieve a
balance between hostility and sympathy towards the ironic event. In the aftermath of World War II,
the United Statesemerged as the most powerful nation, with its ever expanding political, social,
military, and economic influence extending the across globe. With the rise of communism, America
tasked itself with being the liberator of the free world to quell off the newly emerging communistic
powers and to ensure the spread of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The irony he pointed out, was that American truly can not be as truly virtuous as we claim to be,
if we are truly as innocent as we pretend to be (Niebuhr, Pg. 19). After World War II, both the US
and the Soviet Union emerged as the world s two superpowers which would lead them into a
fierce competition for political control over Europe and their resources. During the Cold War in the
1950s, the United States and the Soviet Union were involved in many covert conflicts that
eventually shaped foreign policy during this war. Because decolonization was becoming popular in
the 1950 s and 60 s, the US and Soviet Union directly competed for influence in many third world
countries, such as in Guatemala, Iran, and Indochina. The US government use of the CIA to disrupt
many governments with ties to communists in the 50s was their primary tactic in an aim to support
the allied countries. With conflicts going over ideological territories, both countries undermined

The Importance Of Body Temperature And Thermoregulation
The human body is capable of many checks and balances throughout the numerous systems. From
fluid and electrolytes, perfusion, to skin integrity the body can auto regulate and maintain balance,
while assisting thermoregulation of the body. Thermoregulation is controlled by the hypothalamus,
which is considered the thermostat center of the body (Giddens 88).
The normal body temperature is 97 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Any influence of extreme
environmental conditions, intense exercise, disease or infection that allow the body temperature to
waver from the normal core temperature can affect thermoregulation. Hypothermia occurs when the
body temperature decreases below 97 degrees, hyperthermia is when body temperature is in excess
of 100 degrees. The ideal goal for all ages would be normothermia, which is the normal range of 97
to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
By teaching the older that their decreased ability of regulating their body temperature will affect
their thermoregulation. By educating them of their inability to sweat efficiently, declined
circulation, and a decreased vasoconstrictive response to shivering, and slower metabolic rate all
hinder their thermoregulation. Teaching would consist of adjusting clothing and attire according to
the outside temperature, or if they stay indoors to set their indoor thermometer to 72 degrees. If
they do not have air conditioning to keep windows open and a fan blowing. Dress in layers in
colder temperatures and to keep their head

Keats Influences Leading to Ode to a Nightingale
John Keats, author of many poems from the British Romantic Period, was best known for his
five great odes, the most famous of which was Ode to a Nightingale ( Ode Summary ). Literary
critic Douglas Bush once said that if John Keats had not died at the young age of twenty five, he
would be more well known than William Shakespeare and Keats Milton ( John Keats 559). John
Keats was a young poet whose poems, mostly revolved around the mortal and immortal aspects of
life. Keats had many of influences in his life that led him to write Ode to a Nightingale.
Born on October 31 1795, Keats was the first born of Frances Jennings and Thomas Keats five

Bible Justice
Justice is something, that I believe, each and every person in this world deeply desires. But, justice
does not mean the same thing for every individual. Justice, in fact, can have many different
meanings. To the majority, justice means fairness or equality. However, in the Bible, the word
justice is sometimes translated judgment and righteousness (Hollinger, 2009). At times, God s
justiceis linked to God s holiness (Hollinger, 2009) and on other occasions, God s justice is what
meets the demands of God s holiness and retributive justice or judgment, thereby procuring
human salvation through Christ s death on the cross (Hollinger, 2009). In the beautiful passage
of Scripture, Micah 6:6 8, Israel asks the Lord what He desires of them. Israel had been a very
disobedient group of people and were unsure how to come before the Lord, because their sin had

The Importance Of English As An Official Language
Most people assume that english is the official language of the United States, however this is not
the case, as there is no official language in the states. Since the origins of the country, english has
consistently been spoken across the land, however it has never been established as the official
language. America is a melting pot of cultures and the same can be said for it s languages. Citizens
in America speak an array of languages including Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, Gujrati, Urdu and
hundreds more. However, with the amount of languages spoken in America, an official languageis
the glue needed to connect citizens The increase in languages spoken in America, is directly
proportional to the increase in Immigration. America has been built on the back of these
immigrants, but because they come from different backgrounds they need to define what it means
to be American. Establishing english as the official language gives all citizens common ground,
developing english into not only a language, but an important aspect of being, American. Several
states have already established english as their official language, and they have seen an increased
involvement of their immigrants in not only their societies, but their economies. Establishing
english as the official language across the United Statesreaps several financial and social benefits,
and is a required step in achieving unity.

Corporate Governance and Control in Japan
Corporate governance and control in Japan: can the barriers to foreign takeover activity in Japan
ever be removed? Japan s seeming impenetrability to foreign takeovers, largely due to the
prevailing corporate culture and governance that allegedly hinders such takeovers, has defined
business firms and companies in the last decades (Lebrun, 2001; Gerlach, 1992; Maher and
Wong, 1994; Seeman, 1986; Seeman, 1987; Stern, 1998). Such barriers have gradually been
buoyed down by the worldwide economic recession of the recent times an indication that while
these barriers may not be totally lifted, the prospect of reducing it is optimistic (Itoh and Vestring,
2001; Larimer, 1999; Seeman, 1986; Seeman, 1987; JETRO, 2002;). Japanese inter corporate
relationships are considered in terms of three different structures of interaction: corporate
groupings, financial centrality, and industrial interdependency. Almost all decisions in Japanese
business are group decisions, which require virtually unanimous support from the members of the
team making the decision Foreign firms, which, to a great extent, need to acquire market shares in
Japan, the nation with the world s greatest trade surplus, find their way to major acquisitions in

The Many Faces of Culture Essay
Defining culture has been a debate among sociologists and anthropologists since the 19th century.
Culture is vital for the perseverance of a society and has its own identity that distinguishes it from
others. Culture is not rooted into a person from birth, but it is learned from wherever he or she is
from. It acts in a subconscious manner in that when a culturediffers, one society may find another
society to be odd. Every society has a different culture where the people share a specific language,
gesture, belief, behavior, norms, sanctions and more. Language greatly influences how we see the
world.
Languages shape the way we understand some aspects in life such as time, direction, space and
even causality. For example, while English ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Japan, it means money and in France it means zero or worthless. If you try to learn another
culture, it is important to learn the gestures of that culture as well or there may be
misunderstandings and embarrassments you may face.
Cultural values reflect the goals members of society are expected to endeavor for by adjusting to
social norms, which are social rules of behavior. Those who comply to the norms receive
positive sanctions (i.e. rewards like approval and recognition) while those who don t conform to
the norms are seen as impeding success of the cultural values and are punished with negative
sanctions (i.e. withholding or withdrawal of approval and recognition). For example, if you see
a man holding a stack of books heading towards the door, the norm would be to hold the door for
him and by doing so you will receive a positive sanction. However, if the door is too far away and
don t bother to open to the door for the man, you will receive a negative sanction. There are
different kinds of norms; folkways, mores, and laws. Folkways are norms that are not sternly
enforced such as being courteous to elders. Mores are rules of behavior that if debased, it would
jeopardize the stability of a society such as murdering a person. The distinction between mores
and laws are that while laws are set up and imposed by the state, mores are set up and imposed by
the public response. There is a norm so robustly embedded that even the

Analysis Of The Article Grim Variations From Fairy Tales
In the article Grim Variations from Fairy Tales to Modern Anti Fairy Tales , the author Wolfgang
Mieder identifies that fairy tales has a quite significant value in people s life. The author argues
that fairy tales are not only just meant for children, but they are also meant for adults, even
though fairy tales may be refer to as children stories, according to scholars these tales are
traditional narratives for adults. Within these tales there are lessons on how people should
behave and other aspect of life, which only adults can understand. The fairy tales contain the
hidden frustrations of adults and their longing for a perfect world. Mieder present the readers
with examples of why these tales are also for adults and the hidden meaning they have within
them. Mieder states fairy tales present the world in black and white, but in the end of this
conflict is resolved (Mieder 91) and the belief that there is always good in humanity and the
longing for a utopia plays a significant role for adults. The concept of hope for fairness and
equality allows these tales to last for centuries among children and adults. Mieder then states
many adults today do not accept the value of the benefits that these tales contain, and are too
focus by real life problems. The adults of today s society are realist and do not see the good
meaning behind these tales, deeming them to be far fetched, unlike the adults in the past who
create these stories as a form of escape from the cruel reality.

promises. They denigrate or aggrandize a certain group of the society that represents an ideology,
religion, race or sectarian which is mostly the one that is few in number in order to gain more
sympathy and votes from the majority. With this in mind, populism is wrong because it divides
the society and turns into a us versus them situation when a society should always be united. It
makes the minority or the group feel like they are being isolated, left out of the society and every
country s citizen should feel they belong to somewhere but populism damages this. They say they
are on people s side but they forget that a country is a whole and excluding a group from it is a
huge mistake. The good thing about populism is politicians mention more about current affairs, for
instance, refugee crisis, immigrants, the rise in taxes and the national incomes. Populist politicians
persuade people that they can solve these problems. However, their solutions are unrealistic and

The Pros And Cons Of Bottled Water
Bottled water can do more harm than good, making tap water the best choice. What had I once
believed, that bottled water had a superior taste and smell than tap, was proven to be wrong in that
case. Is bottled water really better than tap water if there s not a distinct difference that appeals to
our senses and health? Bottled wateris known to be harmful to our health, marine animal s health,
and even our planet s. Tap water is good for our environment and our bodies. It does not require the
use of big machinery and factories leaking fossil fuels into the atmosphere to enjoy. This is because
tap water is right at home. The untreated water is also rich in natural vitamins, such as vitamin C, a
plentiful amount of vitamin B s. It also contains bone strengthening minerals that include both
calcium and magnesium.
In contrast, plastic bottles used to hold drinking water contain dangerous materials such as
Bisphenol A and phthalates, which can cause harm to your body. Bisphenol A, similarly known
as BPA, is a harmful chemical that is used to make plastic hard and clear, also has been linked to
several illnesses such as cancer and premature labor. It is also said that BPA holds an estrogen like
shape, making it easier for the chemical to attach to and interact with other hormone receptors and
alter its function. Studies have furthermore shown that womankind that had BPA in their systems
were 91% more likely to give birth before completing their third trimester. Phthalates, which are
also commonly used in plastic production are also endocrine disrupting chemicals. They can be
linked as being one of the causes to reducing sperm count in males, abnormality and tumors, and
etcetera. Not merely is it bad for our bodies as humans but also for the animals that call our oceans,
seas, lakes, and rivers their home.
As numerous people may or may not recognize, not all of the plastic from bottles of water are
decomposable. Bottle tops and caps are not. As a result, making them easier and more likely to
wind up in the sea. This a major health hazard to marine life. Like many other plastic merchandises,
and contamination, the bottle tops get discovered and consumed by many sea creatures like sea
turtles, seals, sea lions,

1950s Vs 1950s Essay
If you compare the 1950 s to today you might say it is very different things like segregation,
economy and family dynamic have altered. And yes many things have changed throughout the
decades but not everything is as equal as you might think it would be. This paper will focus on the
comparisons and differences of today vs the 1950 s. Just to list a few the family dynamic and the
economyof today has altered juristically compared to the prosperous 1950 s. For families of
today Nytimes.com states Considered the purported postponement of marriage by young adults
today. In the late 1950 s about three fourths of all women between ages of 20 and 24 had already
been married. Today young adults enjoy freedom and don t involve the dream of... Show more

The few differences given to compare today and the 1950 s drew a fine line between the Families
and economic markets. You might not think many things are still the same and that we are very
equal all round or people would rather live in the city but surprisingly not everything has changed
completely. Shockingly schools are still not given the equal opportunities as others similarly to
the 1950 s school motto of separate but equal, The Washington Post How bad are conditions in
Detroit public schools? This appalling. Says The gym is closed because half of the floor is
buckled and the other half has suffered so much damage from the dripping celling that it became
covered with toxic black mold. Not to mention the multiple other conditions but this inner city
school still is being treated as a colored school back then. A tale of two schools states The
Mexican schools were typically housed in run down buildings... shabbier books and equipment.
That was back in the 1950 s and other observations in the last article sound a lot alike as to the
Mexican schools back then showing maybe not as much has changed. Another Instance is suburbs,
CBSnews.com said As home prices continue to rise, more buyers will, move to the suburbs to find
affordable housing. Likewise many young families did more than 60 years ago wanting affordable
housing.

This writer is employed by Mental Health Mental Retardation of Harris County (MHMRA) in
Houston, Texas. Therapists have been improving awareness and services and it turned out to be
more economically proficient for MHMRA of Harris County. Therapists and psychiatrists use SFBT
while developing treatment plans and working with clients. Under a licensed professional
counselor, this writer uses SFBT to work with clients today and it shown to be successful with some
clients. As a counselor in training, this writer is cognizant that consumers regularly will not have

In the beginning session, clients are questioned about pre session change to initiate a discussion
about current clues of solution making and to inspire clients that change is likely (Lethem, 2002).
According to Osborn (1997), solution focused therapists reassure clients to tap into their internal
resources and strengths. Several clients might not recognize the strides that they are now taking to
resolve their problem. The goal is for the therapist to lead the client on the path of change;
subsequently that the client can recognize the authority clients hold to change their circumstances.
SFBT adopt that the clients are the experts on their lives, not the therapist. For that reason, the
counselor assumes an ambassador mentality, permitting the clients to educate the therapist about
themselves, and permitting the clients to direct the treatment (Murphy, 2008). SFBT is swayed by
post modern philosophy, such as social constructionism. The therapeutic process and its results are
understood as discussed among clients and counselors (Guterman Leite, 2006; Strong Pyle, 2009).
The social constructionist framework assists solution focused therapists to sustain the ambassador
mentality, since their belief that there

Origins of Pilates and Joseph Pilates
The paper focuses on the origin of the Pilates method of exercise. It also takes a step by step
journey of Joseph Pilates (Joe) who was the founder of the Pilates method of exercise. Finally the
paper will consider Pilates in the contemporary world.
Pilates refers to a system of physical fitness that was established in the early 20th century. It was
developed by Joseph Pilates. Joe was a German born in the year 1880. He suffered from rickets,
rheumatic fever, and asthma during his childhood years. Because of the continuous suffering
brought by the foregoing conditions, Joe was very week and he always felt vulnerable in a rough
realm. This situation inspired him to embark on an enduring pursuit in a bid to gain health and the

During the same period, Joe began to work individually with some clients, similar to what trainers
in the contemporary societies do in studios the world over (Robinson, 2002). His training became
so popular that in the year 1925, he was invited to work as a trainer of the German army. However,
Pilates was not content with the political stand that Germany was nurturing and he left Germany
again. He moved to the United States and settled in the New York upon the commendations of some
of his athlete and colleagues.
He met a lady known as Clara while aboard a steamer on his way to New York. Clara was
suffering from the symptoms of arthritis. Joe offered to cure her soreness through his devices
and informed her of his dream of establishing a studio where he would carry out his work and
develop his exercising methods further. Joe and Clara fell in love and soon after reaching New
York they tied the knot. While in New York Joe continued to develop his methods of exercise and
together with Clara, his wife, they established the very first Pilates studio in New York during the
1920s.
For the following decades, Joe devoted himself to training other people in his methods routines,
developing exercises, and use of apparatus. He also expressed his concepts in writing. He often
considered himself as the ideal test for the rationality of his methods of exercise (Pilates, 2012).
Through his methods, he was able to maintain a strong youthful body and effervescent strength for

After the attack on the twin towers the Bush Administration and some of the United States allies formed an organization that fought against terrorism, known as the war on terror. The idea of the war on terror, that one day terrorism would be eliminated entirely, is a great idea but we, as a nation, should have went about it differently. • 3. The Core Framework Of Paternalistic Leadership Style Let s now turn our attention to the core elements of paternalistic leadership. In this section, we will explore the core framework of paternalistic leadership style, before analysing two core theories of motivation that drive the framework. At the end, we ll also explore the two separate strains of paternalistic framework: benevolent and exploitative models. The core framework When it comes to leadership, a few core elements guide the way in which different leadership styles organise and manifest. These are: The decision making power Who has the power to decide? The legitimacy of rule Where does the power come from? Paternalistic framework is built around the authoritative idea that the leader is the person with the power to decide and his legitimacy comes from his or her expertise. The leader has the final say in making decisions and consultation is not required, as the leader is expected to make choices that benefit the subordinates. The subordinates are treated as an extended family and in a sense have a more partner like relationship with the leader than in autocratic model, for example. The leader puts the wellbeing of the subordinates at the centre of decision making and tries to ensure people are treated fairly. Nonetheless, the power ultimately lies in the hands of the leader. Furthermore, the power the rule comes from the leader s position and the idea that he or she is the most capable of making the decisions. The legitimacy of rule relies on loyalty ... Some of the beliefs are listed such as arrange marriages, living a life with a family, praying, respecting the elders, giving importance to the poor people and orphans, clothing for women and men. I live in a country of Pakistan. And we have an Islamic religion. We usually do arrange marriages. The marriage happened in the presence of the elders. They fix the date and meet with each other family. Then they exchange gifts and sweets with each other. They make arrangements of marriage by fixing the date. The groom and bride are not allowed to meet or talk with each other. Sometimes the bride and groom has not seen each other. Then the date is fixed and necessary arrangements are made for the bride and groom. All of the arrangements are made by mostly the elders like the bride and groom close relatives. The purpose of the arrange marriages with the elders permission is to make a long lasting relationship between the bride and the groom. The Roman Republic For Centuries the Roman Republic was ruled over by some twenty families of Patricians , these families represented the upper crust of society, a society which prided itself on the continuation of the family line. This system was threatened by the ideology of novitas which people achieved glory not from there illustrious family history, but through merit. Cato the Elder and Gaius Mariuswere not born of noble stock and thus represent two of the best examples of novus homo in action. The Roman Republic s system was heavily stacked against a novus homo from the period of 200BC 100BC only 29 Consuls were of Plebeian background, which alludes to the fact the having a good family genealogy, would undoubtedly benefit one political career. The Scipionic epitaph of Scipio Baratus details the successes of a great Roman, who s honour and bravery, as well as his occupation of the Aedileship, and the Consulship ultimately helped spring board the career of his son Lucius Cornelius Scipio . From this we can see that fama, gloria, and a good family background greatly help ones political ambitions, Marius and Cato both came from a Plebeian background of which Marius took pride in going as far as accusing the aristocracy of bitterness by despising him since he reached the Consulship without family connections or glory. My uncommon choice is not due to a lack of human interactions but is a result of the breadth of my relationship with the city and the enriching influence it has had on my life. • 8. Public Challenges Of The Australian Public Faces Amidst the information age, the Australian public faces perhaps the defining societal challenge of the 21st Century, the unprecedented governmental surveillance of metadata. Metadata surveillance refers to the recent legislation passed in March of this year, which sees compulsory retention of information by Australian telecommunication corporations, the individualised communications data of each Australian citizen. The recent legislation passed encompass an unprecedented surveillance of the masses, which will result in the creation of a perpetual surveillance state based purely on broad assumptions about potential terrorists activities. Concerns have arisen due to the proposals that encompass the compulsory data retention of all Australians telecommunication networks, which entrenches passive mass surveillance under the undefined concept of metadata. This mandatory retention of metadata for up to two years allows governmental organisations unprecedented access into the online activity of all Australians, a subversion of the legal presumption of innocence by treating all individuals as potential suspects through pre criminal investigation tactics. As a citizen, I believe this policy embodies the most fundamental violations of human privacy. Criticism Of The Dead By Margot Norris Margot Norris criticism is about the silencing of women, I used this one because it helps with that point of view I want to back up in my own essay as well. Norris argues that the silencing of women in The Dead proves to make the feminist criticism stronger. She describes in depth the characters that are silenced and the ways that they are silenced and her view of on the feminist end of things. She supports that these women are silenced and makes a strong argument about it. But, overall, she says we read the novel as we choose to. Some readers may see it as different and some may not. I used two other dissertations as sources because I wanted to get someone from the educational point of view, a criticism of someone that is similar to mine and talking about this subject as well. I spared them equally and only used parts of them so far in this particular prospectus, but I chose Badcock s essay because she explains how women were treated in Joyce s lifetime. How the background of what I m trying to convey is important. How Joyce saw women and how that was bled into Gabriel s character. Beckham has the view of masculinity and how Gabriel s ego is constantly being deflated. The argument that can be made is, he attempts to use these female characters to boost that ego, yet it doesn t work that way. The criticism is essentially for Gabriel s ever changing masculinity, but it can be used as an opposing or for point of view, as well. I want to focus on the masculinity factor and ... This is an enormous progress era that allows humans to find some answers to their curiosity. And string theory is the recent attempt of humans to answer this curiosity. Our basic science would explain to us that the world is made of matter. This ordinary matter is made of atoms which is composed of the basic components, electrons which are around the nucleus,a nucleus that is composed of neutrons and protons and both contain smaller particles known as quarks. The Standard Modelof particle physicsteaches us the subatomic composition of the universe. It tells the fundamental building blocks which out of this is what the world is made of and the forces in which these blocks interact. The basic building blocks include the six quarks and their other six are leptons. As far as we remember, the four fundamental forces that are present in the universe are gravity, weak nuclear forces, strong nuclear force, and electromagnesim. All the behavior relating to particles and forces is described by the Standard Model but except gravity. It seems hard to prove and describe this force in microscopic forms. In Benedict s The Case for Moral Relativism he states, It is hard for us, born and brought up in a culture that makes no use of the experience, to realize how important a role it may play and how many individuals are capable of it, once it has been given an honorable place in any society... These standards are unique to each group of people. As we grow out of childhood, we become aware of the set of morals and values that have a tendency to change over age and time. I personally do believe that morals will continue to change overtime, and due to this, different culture variations will hold different cultural values and morals. It is hard to imagine a world in which we all believe the same things are right and wrong. In Why Morality Is Not Relative James Rachels summarizes the theory into one brief statement: To many thinkers, this observation Different cultures have different moral codes has seemed to be the key to understanding morality (page 139). The demands of the generation that is larger than baby boomers will not be stifled, especially when the United States has many countries to catch up to when it comes to workers rights policies like family leave. Carbohydrates are large chains of sugar found in food and living tissues. This includes sugars, starch, and cellulose. They have the same ratio of hydrogen and oxygen that water has, 2:1. They are broken down to release energy in the animal body. Lipids are any organic compounds that are fatty acids and don t dissolve in water but do in organic solvents. Fatty acids can be found in natural oils, waxes, and steroids. Proteins are macromolecules that do everything in the cell. They are tools and machines that make things happen. Nucleic acids are long strands of nucleotides, and function primarily in storage and transmission of genetic information. There are two types of nucleic acids, DNA and RNA. DNA is the genetic material of all cellular organisms, and RNA sends out messages from the information that is held in the DNA. These four biomolecules are metabolized by the animal body. Each biomolecule is broken down in a different process. The end result of each process is the creation of usable energy for the body. This energy is used to work and generate other chemical reactions that help the body move and think. Nuclear power plants (factories that have been built on earth to create such processes) can be fairly costly to build. However, a nuclear plant would only put a significant amount of radioactivity into the environment if there was some type of accident as compared to coal plants which put radioactivity into the environment as part of their normal operations. In this perspective, nuclear fission is an advantage. On the other hand, should a nuclear meltdown occur due to an uncontrolled reaction, dangerous radiation would be released potentially harming people. Another similar situation that arises is the storage of waste products which again leads to the same issue of safety; is it worth the risk? Human society, cultures, and politics too have affected the development of nuclear fission and its applications. Modern cultures promote the use of nuclear energy, saying that it will prosper for the future; however, more conservative cultures are unsure about what it will lead to. The last stakeholder affected by the decision is Jane herself; she has her morals and reputation to consider as well earnings potential for the future. The decision making process for Jane should include looking at several approaches and stakeholder impact analysis. The stakeholders should be prioritized and the impacts on each looked at thoroughly before a decision is made. There is not any scenario where signing off on the false information will have a positive impact on any of the most important stakeholders. With that said, Jane should tell her superiors that she is not comfortable signing off on the audit as it stands. In doing so she runs the risk of losing her job, on the other hand she is taking a stand for herself and the two top stakeholders, the bank and the suppliers. Chemotaxis Lab Report Genetic interference of Caenorhabditis Elegans within the process of Chemotaxis Abstract For the majority of animals on earth, responding to chemical stimuli could mean the difference between life and death. Taste is an example of sensing chemical stimuli however, this response is not entirely dependent on genes, as tasting something will not necessarily trigger a gene to activate. Within a simpler organism however, such as Caenorhabditis Elegans, there is a complex behavior that is mediated by three sensory neurons and transduce chemical stimuli to move muscles that move an animal forward(attraction) or backwards(repulsion). By placing these organisms on several plates which will inhibit genetic expression, and then testing chemotaxis at a later point, it is possible to determine which genes are responsible for chemotaxis. The global sample averages of the chemotaxis indexes of CEH 36 and CEH 27 are somewhat inconclusive, with a mean of 0.5815 for CEH 36 and 0.6981 for CEH 27. • 31. The Importance Of Body Temperature And Thermoregulation The human body is capable of many checks and balances throughout the numerous systems. From fluid and electrolytes, perfusion, to skin integrity the body can auto regulate and maintain balance, while assisting thermoregulation of the body. Thermoregulation is controlled by the hypothalamus, which is considered the thermostat center of the body (Giddens 88). The normal body temperature is 97 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Any influence of extreme environmental conditions, intense exercise, disease or infection that allow the body temperature to waver from the normal core temperature can affect thermoregulation. Hypothermia occurs when the body temperature decreases below 97 degrees, hyperthermia is when body temperature is in excess of 100 degrees. The ideal goal for all ages would be normothermia, which is the normal range of 97 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. By teaching the older that their decreased ability of regulating their body temperature will affect their thermoregulation. By educating them of their inability to sweat efficiently, declined circulation, and a decreased vasoconstrictive response to shivering, and slower metabolic rate all hinder their thermoregulation. Justice, in fact, can have many different meanings. To the majority, justice means fairness or equality. It acts in a subconscious manner in that when a culturediffers, one society may find another society to be odd. Those who comply to the norms receive positive sanctions (i.e. rewards like approval and recognition) while those who don t conform to the norms are seen as impeding success of the cultural values and are punished with negative sanctions (i.e. withholding or withdrawal of approval and recognition). For example, if you see a man holding a stack of books heading towards the door, the norm would be to hold the door for him and by doing so you will receive a positive sanction. • 41. Analysis Of The Article Grim Variations From Fairy Tales In the article Grim Variations from Fairy Tales to Modern Anti Fairy Tales , the author Wolfgang Mieder identifies that fairy tales has a quite significant value in people s life. The author argues that fairy tales are not only just meant for children, but they are also meant for adults, even though fairy tales may be refer to as children stories, according to scholars these tales are traditional narratives for adults. Within these tales there are lessons on how people should behave and other aspect of life, which only adults can understand. The fairy tales contain the hidden frustrations of adults and their longing for a perfect world. Mieder present the readers with examples of why these tales are also for adults and the hidden meaning they have within them. Mieder states fairy tales present the world in black and white, but in the end of this conflict is resolved (Mieder 91) and the belief that there is always good in humanity and the longing for a utopia plays a significant role for adults. The concept of hope for fairness and equality allows these tales to last for centuries among children and adults. Mieder then states many adults today do not accept the value of the benefits that these tales contain, and are too focus by real life problems. The adults of today s society are realist and do not see the good meaning behind these tales, deeming them to be far fetched, unlike the adults in the past who create these stories as a form of escape from the cruel reality. ... What had I once believed, that bottled water had a superior taste and smell than tap, was proven to be wrong in that case. Is bottled water really better than tap water if there s not a distinct difference that appeals to our senses and health? Bottled wateris known to be harmful to our health, marine animal s health, and even our planet s. Tap water is good for our environment and our bodies. It does not require the use of big machinery and factories leaking fossil fuels into the atmosphere to enjoy. This is because tap water is right at home. The untreated water is also rich in natural vitamins, such as vitamin C, a plentiful amount of vitamin B s. It also contains bone strengthening minerals that include both calcium and magnesium. In contrast, plastic bottles used to hold drinking water contain dangerous materials such as Bisphenol A and phthalates, which can cause harm to your body. Bisphenol A, similarly known as BPA, is a harmful chemical that is used to make plastic hard and clear, also has been linked to several illnesses such as cancer and premature labor. It is also said that BPA holds an estrogen like shape, making it easier for the chemical to attach to and interact with other hormone receptors and alter its function. Studies have furthermore shown that womankind that had BPA in their systems were 91% more likely to give birth before completing their third trimester. Phthalates, which are also commonly used in plastic production are also endocrine disrupting chemicals. They can be linked as being one of the causes to reducing sperm count in males, abnormality and tumors, and etcetera.
