Essay On Gilgamesh
Crafting an essay on the topic of Gilgamesh is both an intellectually stimulating and challenging
endeavor. The epic of Gilgamesh, an ancient Mesopotamian narrative, offers a rich tapestry of
themes, characters, and cultural nuances that demand a thorough understanding and thoughtful
analysis.
Firstly, delving into the intricacies of the narrative requires a comprehensive grasp of the
historical and cultural context of ancient Mesopotamia. The social and religious milieu of the
time significantly influences the characters and events in the epic, making it imperative for the
writer to delve deep into the historical background.
Furthermore, the character of Gilgamesh himself poses a multifaceted challenge. Unraveling the
layers of his personality, exploring his strengths, flaws, and evolution throughout the narrative
demands a nuanced approach. A successful essay must navigate the complexities of Gilgamesh's
character, addressing his heroism, hubris, and the existential questions he grapples with.
Moreover, the essay should not only focus on Gilgamesh but also engage with the various
supporting characters, such as Enkidu and the gods, as they play pivotal roles in shaping the
narrative. Analyzing their relationships, motivations, and impact on the storyline adds another
layer of complexity to the writing process.
The literary aspects of the epic, including its poetic language, symbolism, and narrative structure,
present additional challenges. Crafting an insightful analysis that goes beyond surface-level
interpretation requires a keen eye for detail and a deep appreciation for the nuances of ancient
storytelling.
In conclusion, composing an essay on Gilgamesh demands a comprehensive understanding of
ancient Mesopotamian history, a nuanced approach to character analysis, and an appreciation for
the literary elements woven into the epic. It is a task that requires not only academic rigor but
also a passion for unraveling the mysteries of one of the oldest known works of literature.

College Students Pursuit Of Grades So Shortsighted By...
Proficiency Essay
Grades have always played a major role in whether the student is successful or not.
Deciding whether one s moves on in life or has to fix/finish. If one does not make
the right grades they can put their future at stake. But are grades necessary to have in
education?
Personally, I prefer letter grades because I am capable of viewing the what I have
which allows me to know whether I should work harder in the class or keep doing
what I am doing. Having grades gives a kinda comfort for me because I have
something solid; it is a system so it does not change. After reviewing a few essays on
grading systems, the majority of them tend to be against having the letter system.

Labunski, a professor, believes that student only chooses to learn the information
given to them that will be presented on the exam and ignore learning the rest. I
personally do this because I see it as a waste of time but I completely understand
why he thinks this. He states that grades are supposed to reflect what they learn and
are not the goal of a college education (Labunski). By just focusing on the
information one needs to receive a good grade they miss out on the information they
might need in their actual job place. However, if the professors gave a reasonable
amount of work it would be more likely to occur but they do give a lot of work
which leaves the students with limited time. The only part I disagree with in this
document is when Labunski begins to speak about how grades are not important
at all. Sure an employer is not going to go looking through all of ones grades, they
are just going to see that they got a specific degree or the see the outside activities
that one participated in. But what about people earning money because of the grades
they make; at this point, they are very important and can be life altering. If one does
not make the grades they would lose the money and that would mean more for them

How Does Charlie Brooker Use The Satire In Black Mirror
Black Mirror is a British television series created by Charlie Brooker about
technology that is set in the near future. Each episode is a stand alone science
fiction drama. The show uses dark satire in which technology creates a dystopia,
eerily similar to what could happen in reality. The common theme in a few of the
episodes is how the government influences and controls the people. Season two,
episode two: White Bear. It begins with a woman, named Victoria, who wakes up
with no memory, in a house, alone. She leaves to get help, but finds that all the other
people are hiding in their houses, but when they see her, they come out to silently
follow and record her on their phones. Then a group of people in masks, called the

People can casually project almost anything they want with minimal
consequences. But in this episode, there were actual consequences. But more
people voted after the deaths were linked to the hashtag. And it came back around
at the end. The government had control by spying on the people with the drones,
and that was the reason the technology was compromised. This episode is
successful because it links government spying with social media. It shows how all
technology is interconnected and that there are many outcomes that may lead to
unintended consequences. Black Mirror has been largely successful since it has
been out on Netflix. Before, it only aired in the UK, and had a small following. It
is heavily influenced by The Twilight Zone, with self contained stories that are
both science fiction set in a different time, but offer social commentary to today s
problems. Because it hits so close to home, Black Mirror has become very popular,
even years after it first came out. Since every episode is a stand alone, the creators
can cover a wider range of topics without having to stick to the same plot, just the
common theme of technology. So there is an episode for
The Day I Met Dictator
I grew up in a system where I had to obey orders strictly and blindly. I was born in
Myanmar, also known as Burma , and I lived there till I was twenty one. My
country was ruled by the military government even before I was born, and the
dictatorship had been established well when I was growing up. The most important
rule I learned as I grew up was not to get involved in politics. The worst crime to
commit in my country was doing politics, and the governmenttook severe actions
such as brutal torture and many years of imprisonment to anyone who involved in
political activities. I did not get into trouble throughout high schoolbecause I stayed
away from politics. I even stayed away from conversations that involved how bad
our government was. I was an obedient student and an obedient citizen. I had
foolishly believed that I would be fine as long as I did not get involved in politics
or any actions against the government. However, I learned that my life was not safe
under the dictatorship no matter how hard I tried to protect it. Although I had never
been sent to a principal s office during my high school years, I was called to the
rector s office when I was a first year student in college. After I had finished high
school, I attended Yangon Institute of Medicine. I was the only male student with
long hair in the entire university, and my hair was long enough to reach the middle of
my back. About two months after the semester had started, I received the letter from

Essay on Feminism in Dubliners
| Feminism in Dubliners|
Mrs. Atkins; English A3
Tuesday, May 25, 2010
James Joyce s book of short stories entitled Dubliners examines feminism and the
role of women in Irish society. The author is ahead of his time by bringing women
to the forefront of his stories and using them to show major roles and flaws in Irish
society, specifically in Eveline and The Boarding House . James Joyce portrays
women as victims who are forced to assume a leading and somewhat patriarchal
role in their families. He uses them to show the paralysis of his native land Ireland,
and the disruption in social order that is caused by the constant cycle of abuse that he
finds commonplace in Ireland. Joyce is trying to end the Victorian and archaic view of

This is seen when the narrator speaks about the story of the field that Eveline, her
brothers, and another family s children used to play on which was bought by a
man from Belfast in order to build a house. Another example, is how she and her
brothers would play out in a field, and her father would come to hunt them in out of
the field with his blackthorn stick (34). This also symbolizes the discord of family
relations, and the premature annihilation of her childhood innocence by her father
and the premature end of innocence that is caused by abusive men to their
children in Ireland. Eveline is also denied the basic right to love and affection by
her own choice. She finds a man who loves and values her, and is the exact
opposite of her abusive father. Frank represents the opportunity for escape and a
break in the cycle. She finally has an opportunity for a new life, and she chooses to
stay in Ireland to take care of her father and brothers. Eveline s choice to stay in
Ireland, rather than to leave with Frank can be seen as a result of the lack of self
worth and mental constraints set on her by her father, which parallels the fact that
Ireland s paralysis is caused by the abuse of male authority roles. Eveline feels tied
to her father, in the same way a hopeless chained animal who knows no better than to
wait patiently and endure. The illusion of captivity was so complete that even though
she had an opportunity to escape her cage , she chose to stay in it.

Recognizing and rewarding high performance is a key recommendation for any
approach when managing any merit pay program (HRIS 2012). Merit pay is a
compensation system where base pay increases and is determined by an individual
s performance. Using a merit pay plan is a good way for an organization to reward
high performance is one benefit when using merit pay programs. The first step in
implementing or improving a merit pay program is to have a solid performance
management program, and this is another way a merit pay program is beneficial.
Merit pay is a way to be successful and effectively implement merit pay with a uplift
in salaries, and this is a third way using a merit pay program is beneficial to an
organization. There are some drawbacks when using merit pay programs, such as
paying some employees more than others. If you pay high performing workers more
than low performing employees, the high performers may stay, causing the low
performers to complain or leave the organization. A second drawback in using merit
pay program is that employees become less motivated if not paid to their satisfaction.
For example, if employees feel they should be making more money for their
performance, this causes them to have low self esteem, and want to find employment
at other organization. The last drawback associated with
Frank Dikotter s Race Culture
Eugenics is the science of cultivating a human population by controlling breeding to
expand the amount of wanted heritable characteristics. Frank Dikotter s Race Culture:
Recent
Perspectives on the History of Eugenics talked about the importance and relevance of
Eugenics in our culture. Eugenics was a vital part of several social movements in the
twentieth century that was linked to topics such as race, sex, hygiene, and more.
Eugenics was talked about widely like other important matters like, sex education,
public health, and other related topics. That talk was not always positive as some
information about eugenics led to social fears and moral panics.
This reaction led to the creation of several laws.
The first country to pass a law that was a result of efforts to apply eugenic policies
was, the Scandinavian country of Denmark. In 1929, Denmark passed a sterilization

Other countries in Scandinavia also passed similar laws that were pushed by
officials from the government and doctors who were the head of psychiatric
hospitals and institutions for mentally disabled. The eugenic movement also became
popular in isolated and provincial parts here in the United States a couple decades
ago. In the United States, people who were mentally disabled were the main target
for eugenic practices. As cited from Ian Dowbiggin s Keeping America Sane, he
highlights the reasons why the psychiatric appeal to eugenics.
The examples of Scandinavian countries and parts of America showed that scientific
knowledge was not necessary for the spread of eugenic practices. The observation
was that this was unevenly spread across the world. This is because there were
probably more researchers active in cities in Asia like Tokyo and Shanghai, and even
Bombay. But nonetheless, the idea of eugenics had very powerful effects on humans

The TV Dinner
The TV dinner....taking the family away from the table!
The TV Dinner concept took hold in 1954 when Swanson s frozen meals
appeared...they were a welcome lifesaver for busy mothers and a delight for the
entire family. The dinner was a prepackaged frozen meal in an aluminum tray,
packed inside a cardboard box, that could be heated in the oven, and all ready to eat
in just 25 minutes. Best news yet? The meal could be eaten out of the same tray it
was heated in! Yes, eaten WITHOUT a plate,
We won t kid you...there were quite a few people and companies instrumental in
the concept of a complete meal that need only to be heated before eating. While the
frozen dinner s lineage can be credited way back to 1923 when Clarence Birdseye

The Company marketed the dinner like crazy using the relatively new cultural
phenomenon of television! The retail price of each dinner (marketed as a TV Dinner)
was roughly about $1 each. The company sold 10 million TV dinners in 1954, the
first year of production.
Thomas was given a $100 raise and a bonus of $1,000 for his invention, and asked
Swanson to renegotiate his contract for a penny a dinner as long as he lived. A
decision he later regretted. The American Frozen Food Institute honored him in
their Frozen Food Hall of Fame as the inventor of the TV dinner and he secured a
place on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where his handprints were featured alongside
a tray print.. His role as the inventor is disputed.
The original aluminum tray is now on display at the Smithsonian Institution, next to
Fonzie s jacket. So who really invented the TV dinner? It depends on your definition.
But whatever the case, TV dinners were a food
The Pros And Cons Of Children In The Foster Care System
Over 600,000 children in the United States are in the foster care system. Reasons
include, abuse, neglect and abandonment. These children lack nurturing
environments and stable homes. Children within the foster care system have more
mental, physical and developmental problems. It is imperative to understand the
challenges children entering the foster caresystem are exposed to. The system works
best when children are provided nurturing, and short term care until they can be
placed back home safely or a permanent adoptive family. For many children, however,
the stay is longer, with 30% remaining in temporary care for over two years. Staying
in the system is detrimental to the child s well being. The foster care system is an
unsuccessful intervention for children that cultivates development, health and mental
issues.
Where a child ends up being placed is determined by child welfare and the judicial
system. However, how the placement is decided should depend upon a child social
history, mental history and where they are developmentally. Caseworkers are often
overloaded which leads to the children being placed in the wrong type of homes,
which means the children are moved frequently. When children are frequently
moved, it leads to disruptions that make it hard to form stable attachments, and
hinder social and emotional development. There is a greater concern for children
under the age of five, which is the largest group in foster care, considering the role
strong and stable
Bacteria On The Brain By Emily Eakin
In Bacteria on the Brain By Emily Eakin, she writes about the ethics surrounding a
doctor who attempts to save the lives of patients with brain tumors by using his own
alternative methods. In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, the author writes about Victor
and his creature s attempts to expand science, and answer moral questions concerning
life and death. Regarding the substance of the article, Neurosurgeon Dr. Paul
Muizelaar and his controversial treatment of three patients suffering from terminal
braincancer engenders serious ethical debate. On one hand, Muizelaar epitomizes a
man of brilliance and ingenuity, driven by the desire to correct his patients otherwise
hopeless situations. On the other hand, a man filled with hubris who discounted the
risks in his pursuit of success. Given the evidence present in the text of Frankenstein,
Mary Shelley would contend that Muizelaar s actions were innovative and driven
by his desire to save the lives of his patients. Shelley values the dedication to expand
the knowledge of humankind as well as life and the avoidance of death at all costs.
She often references the sciences, and the idea of pushing sciencefurther, for
example, when Victor creates life. He had worked hard for nearly two years, for the
sole purpose of infusing life into an inanimate body (35) and succeeds. In doing so he
attempts to expand the sciences with his discovery, and achieve the impossible.
Shelley highlights this dedication to broaden science when framing
Essay On Cabernet Sauvignon
Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world s most widely recognized red wine grape
varieties. It is grown in nearly every major wine producing country among a diverse
spectrum of climates from Canada s Okanagan Valley to Lebanon s Beqaa Valley.
Cabernet Sauvignon became internationally recognized through its prominence in
Bordeaux wines where it is often blended with other red grapevarieties such as
Merlot and Cabernet Franc. From France the grape spread through Europe and to the
New World wineregions where it found new homes in California and New Zealand
where it is now highly regarded as Hawks Bay s top wines. For most of the 20th

In 1867 the Phylloxera plague struck Europe and almost wiped out all the vineyards
in Europe. The Carmenere vines were the most severely struck and for a very long
time it was thought that the variety was extinct. Since then Carmenere has been to
difficult and too much of a risk to replant in many places in Europe.
Far from being extinct, in recent years Carmenere has been discovered to be thriving
in several areas outside of France. In South America, mainly Chile, growers almost
inadvertently preserved the grape variety during the last 150 years, due largely to its
similarity to Merlot.
Cuttings from the Carmenere grape were imported by Chilean growers from
Bordeaux in France during the 19th century. They modelled their wineries after those
in France and in the 1850s cuttings from Bordeaux, which included the Carmenere
grape, were planted in the valleys around Santiago. Thanks to Chile s minimal
rainfall and moderate temperatures during the growing season and the protection of
the countries natural boundaries, growers produced healthier crops of Carmenere
and there was no spread of phylloxera, or any other decease. During most of the 20th
century Carmenere was inadvertently collected and processed together with Merlot
grapes giving Chilean Merlot markedly different properties to those of Merlot

The Princess Bride Analysis
The Movie, The Prince Bride was about a young man named Westley and a woman
named Buttercup that were deeply in love, but were separated for a long time due
to their different paths in life. Westley would have to return in order to save
Buttercup from not only an unwanted marriage but also to save her life. He must
go through tons of trouble to be reunited with his true love Buttercup. In the movie
The Princess Bride (1987) Rob Reiner explains that love is the strongest element
Rob Reiner uses Irony and repetition to prove this point. Rob Reiner uses these
elements in order emphasize the connection true love has is strong. In order to
show people that love still exists therefore you shouldn t just give up on love. The
movie pertains towards people that are in love or have experienced it due to the
movie being focused on a connection between two people even though how
separate their lives were they were able to be together. The author uses Irony to
prove that love is the strongest bond between people. When Westley was in a
mission to save Buttercup he had a barrier in his way, a giant in which the odds on
beating the giant was not in Westley s favor. He was still able to Beat him in a fist
fight, the connection true love created allowed him to win. The example from the
movie was ironic because due to the odds westley had the viewers would think it
would be impossible to fool the giant, the author was able to create physical but at
the same time still making it ironic. This showed the viewers that there is nothing
stopping him and true love. The author also uses irony when Buttercup believed
that she was being forced to marry Prince Humperdink because he wanted the
marriage, but actually the whole time Prince Humperdink was trying to have
Buttercup killed by Vizzini who kidnapped and tried to murder her. He did all of
this to frame it on Guilder to start a war. This shows irony and relates to the theme
because the fact that Prince Humperdink was actually trying to kill Buttercup throws
off the viewers because it seemed like he tried to save her when she was kidnapped
but it was all his doings was completely against the viewer s expectation but created
humor at the same time. This connects to the theme because

What was the issue at stake in Bleeding Kansas, and how did events in Kansas
reflect the growing sectional division between the North and the South? The
Kansas Nebraska act of 1854 allowed for Kansas to decide whether it should be a
slave state or not. This would be determined by popular sovereignty, meaning that
the majority on one particular side would be the ultimate decision. This caused an
influx of people into Kansas to try and sway the decision of the state. There were
both proslavery and antislavery citizens going to Kansas. As a result of this, there
were massive conflicts that spread throughout Kansas. Many of these conflicts
resulted in deaths on both sides of the argument. This showed the growing division
among the North and South, and that they were willing to fight for what they
believed in. These conflicts even spread to members of Congress, and outbreaks
broke out within arguments. In my opinion, events such as Bleeding Kansas had
negative effects on both sides of the slavery argument. It was however these same
events that helped to build up to the Civil War that changed America forever.
Ultimately the side of antislavery won, but they did take massive casualties as a

Business Process Outsourcing Is A New Management
Strategy
Business process outsourcing is a new management strategy, which encompasses
transfers of an organisation s internal functions to a third party. In essence, it
encompasses entrusting and ensuring a third party with company functions. The third
party executes the function and meets the expectations of the company (Kozweska
2004). Company objectives primarily dictate the above expectations. A company
transfers business tasks and processes to an external provider, a specialist in a
particular field, to enhance its profitability and hence return of investment to its
shareholders. Business process outsourcingalso provides a basis for establishment long
term, mutually beneficial relationship between the company and the outsourced

The company has outsourced its Information Technology (IT) functions to an Indian
IT company, Indo System Solutions (ISS). Initially, Globshop s senior management
was skeptical about transferring the above function to the IT services provider.
However, over time, they came to realize benefits accrued from outsourcing.
However, there are still risks associated with the above management strategy.
Globshop s senior management requires an in depth analysis of the above strategy,
which defines the company s future relationship with ISS.
Growth of Offshore Outsourcing
Several factors have fuelled the unprecedented growth in business process outsourcing
. One such factor is the technological revolution. Technological revolution especially
in the information technology sector has seen the introduction of fast and reliable
communication channels. Such channels include high speed internet, which ensures
that individuals from different countries can communicate in real time (Duening
Click 2005). This facilitates a multi location execution of tasks where employees in
different locations communicate using tools such as video conferencing. This has
increased contact between companies and their outsourced services providers. As
such, efficient communication between companies ensures smooth and timely
execution of tasks and functions. This translates into an overall efficiency at the
company.
Another factor is the emergence of newly developed economies including

The Three Senses Of Sharks
Most predator sharks are long and round. Every shark is shaped for the type of water
they live in.
Angelsharks are flat so they can hide on the sea floor.
Horn sharks have sharp spines on their backs
Megamouths have huge soft blubbery lips.
Hammerhead sharks (as said in their name) have a head shaped like a hammer, which
makes them look like a swimming T.
Sawsharks have long pointy, sharp snouts.
Large sharks, like the whale shark or the Basking shark, are as big as a bus.
Some very tiny sharks such as the pygmy shark or the Colombian lantern shark can
fit on top of your hand.
Goblin sharks has a very strange long snout like a long horn, it is said that these
goblin sharks have lived since the dinosaur age; people have found fossils of a shark

search for now knowledge has a good and a bad side. Suffering is something we all
go through at some point. We try to avoid it but our search for knowledge will
always lead to suffering. In Frankenstein Victor had set out on a search for
knowledge, he was relentless. His search consumed all his time, destroyed

of those negative effects originated from the monster Victor had created on his

The monster is the product of Victor s search for knowledge, and the same thing
that cause all the havoc in the story. One of the largest examples of Victor s
suffering was how fear and anger had consumed him. All the monster has brought
upon the world is destruction and fear; these are all due to Victor s relentless search
for knowledge. This daemon surpasses the body limits humans have in almost every
aspect and thus constitutes everything Victor had hoped to achieve with his

A Paper Battery Is An Electrical Battery
Chapter 1 Introduction
1.1Introduction to paper battery A paper battery is an electrical battery designed to
use a spacer fashioned mostly of polyose (the major Constituent of paper). It
incorporates nano scale structures to act as high area electrodes to enhance physical
phenomenon. additionally to being remarkably skinny, paper batteries ar versatile
and atmosphere friendly, permitting integration into a large vary of merchandise.
Their functioning is analogous to traditional chemical batteries with the vital
distinction that they re noncorrosive and don t need intensive housing.
.A paper battery is associate immoderate skinny atmosphere friendly and versatile
energy memory device (battery). that is product of carbon nano tube and paper
(cellulose means that the fabric that is obtained from tree ). The functioning of paper
Batteries is analogous to the conventional chemical battery
A paper battery is basically a tool that behave as a capacitance and as battery. it s a
flexible, lightweight weight device created from carbon nano tubes daring on
paper(cellulose). It s primarily designed by combination of PAPER with carbon nano
tubes. It consists of infusion of carbon nano tubes with paper consisting of associate
ionic liquid as associate resolution.
There possesses to be a compromise between the charge manufacturing device
(Battery) and a charge storing device (Capacitor). Batteries (whether primary or

Hg Wells The Time Machine
Today in our generation technology is being more reliable into a better system
everyday, but what about our economic and political system? We face challenges
daily on how our system works and it is cloned that way. Physically and mentally the
United States has slowly dismantled the works of that system and H.G Wells tells his
story The Time Machineto that effect. His novel shows that every course he takes to a
different time, the world manipulates the unsettlement of even technology or the
political structure.
As the story delves into the first setting of the story, the narrator describes the place
he is at in london. Getting deeper into that mist he describes the decoration of the

going forward to the year 802,701 he realizes he is still in London. Only to face an
area that was no longer London. The land was full of grass and no life that he
could communicate with. From time to time he explains his thoughts including In

discovers these creatures called the Eloi s. Very beautiful and graceful, they were
with hectic beauty and China typed prettiness. They were not human like and did not
speak of the English ways. Two locations seemed important to them, which were the

Selenium Disappearing
As I walked past the paper office building I pass every day, something was
different; the windows were tinted green and the regular red tinted windows were
no longer tinted red. Intrigued, I walked into the building a saw a strange sight,
many people complaining and groaning about their knee joints aching. To help them
out, I went over to the copier and printer only to realize that it was not functioning
properly. After thinking for a while, I concluded that the element Selenium is
disappearing. After looking into the copier, I saw that it was not functioning due to
the lack of Selenium. Selenium in laser printers and photocopiers serve as a semi
conductor, meaning it is a substance that is in between conductors and non
conductors. Selenium is not only common in laser printers and photocopiers, but
also it is used in the development in transistors in computers and cell phones. After
walking away from the copier, I went over to my friend Greg and asked why his
knee joints were aching. He told me that he normally takes a dose of Selenium a day
to strengthen his joints. Along with... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

his opponents which would weaken them and slow them down. We devised a plan
to heat the villain at his melting point which is 685В°C which would melt him and

Analysis Of The Poem Bacchus Discovering Ariadne
Jacob Jordaens, Bacchus Discovering Ariadne, late 1640 s
This painting that I have found while venturing the Museum of Fine Arts has
definitely caught my eye for infinite reasons. Bacchus Discovering Ariadne by Jacob
Jordaens was definitely a painting that has a story, but the thing is, there isn t much
about it, which is a challenge. Most of the focus in this painting is set on Ariadne and
the meeting between her and Bacchus. Not only that but the painting, and all other
paintings associated with this myth, focus on the shift from divine perfection to
humanity that is found in Renaissance and Baroque artwork. The oil painting made
by Jacob Jordaens tells the story of Ariadne, the princess of Crete, being deserted on
the Island of Naxos by Theseus, the Athenian prince who she helped escape from
her father s labyrinth. Bacchus, whom is the god of wine, and his satyrs discover
her, and he falls in love with Ariadne. As a testimony of his devotion he holds up her
crown, which he will then toss into the heavens to create a constellation in her honor.
In this painting he shows Ariadne as an extremely feminine figure that s not only fair
but regarded as beautiful The body of Bacchus is sculpted showing the muscles in his
legs and throughout the rest of his body. But the contrast in this painting is striking.
The contrast of this painting lies between the structural elements of Bacchus and of
the three satyrs that have accompanied him. These satyrs are in dim lighting and less

Abstract Now a days, global warming is one of the serious concern for environment
to get protected from it every one is taking help of technology by the means of
different types of refrigeration system for comfort food process, medicines, blood
storage, humidity control, etc. use of refrigeration system not totally green or
ineffective environment, if we can use proper eco friendly refrigerant in
refrigeration system and make number of refrigeration system less. Then it is not
long way to be resolve global warming issue. In Indian middle class and poor
families cannot afford all types of refrigeration system like a ac, refrigerator, air
cooler, etc. generally they purchase only air cooler. To solve this we can integrate
refrigeration system of ac, refrigerator and air cooler in one product. So, that it cans

Climate Change Reflection
After watching the move How To Let Go and Love All The Things Climate Can t
Change, my perception of our world completely changed. With the overwhelming
facts to the heartfelt stories Josh Fox exposes viewers to the damage that is yet to
come. This movie was so effective as opposed to other climate documentaries because
Fox explains the human aspects of climatechange. Traveling to twelve countries on
six continents he explains how ocean warming, sea level rise, and air quality are
already negatively affecting people in their everyday lives. People don t connect with
facts, people connect with people. This is something I am realizing is critical in
getting others on board with sustainability initiatives and to re think the role we play
as consumers. After graduating I wantto work as a sustainability director for a large
company. At the start of my sustainability journey I am discovering that the most
essential part of a sustainability director s job is to be personable. People will be
more likely to implement change when they realize how it benefits or affects them
and their organization. Without effective communication, projects will never be
funded, ideas will not be considered, and it is less likely that your impact will be as
substantial as it could. As a sustainability advocate, it will be my job to promote
and implement initiatives that will help us now, but also generations to come will
feel those effects. Josh Fox shows it is the grassroot groups and people stepping up
to protect our planet because they know it is necessary. I have developed the
mindset, if not me than who? Out of all ten of the things that climate can t change, I
believe that the most important one is resilience. As sustainability professionals, it
is a fact of life that you will be told no. But the key is moving on from that. You can
not get yourself worked up just because things didn t play out how we want. We can
also not let getting told no beat us down, not everyone understands or wants to
understand the environmental catastrophes that are upon us. With this in mind, we
should use getting told no to drive us forward and work even harder on the next
project we have. Resilience stood out to me in the movie when the Samoa tribe

Igor Stravinsky Rhetorical Analysis
In his derogatory passage, Igor Stravinsky discusses the common views and
reputation of orchestra conductors; he argues that conductors are not musical gods
but rather destroyers of musical compositions and the glory that they are meant to
receive. Because Stravinsky is a composer himself, he has firsthand experience with
the relationship between composer and conductor and has dealt with conductors that
have conducted his compositions. Stravinsky s purpose in writing this passage is to
convince the reader of the false perspective they possess of conductors. He wants to
correct these pretenses and expose the façade of conducting in order for the reader
to disassociate the conductor with being the star of the performance and help them
focus... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In doing so, he encourages the reader to use the context of the paragraph to look into
its meaning. His placement of quotes around great clearly conveys his sarcastic tone
because he is not in fact praising the conductors in accordance to the like of actors,
but, instead poking fun at them. The conductors do not actually understand the
meaning of the music and must therefore adapt the music to themselves rather than
themselves to the music; they are only standing in the way of genuine music making.
Stravinsky also uses sarcasm in the last sentence to further his point by saying that If
you are unable to listen to the music, you watch the corybantics, and if you are able,
you had better not go to the concert. The conductor should not be the star of the
performance and, in showing the audience what they should be feeling, the conductor
minimizes the brilliance of the composition. Furthermore, his bold statements
regarding conductors emphasize his dislike for them because he is figuratively
attacking the profession, going beyond just harsh criticism. In using such bold
diction, Stravinsky also manages to convey a sense of informality, creating the
illusion that he is simply conversing with his audience. This in turn helps Stravinsky
break down the wall between author and reader by allowing the reader to relate more
to the ideas being
The Island Of Dr Moreau God Complex Analysis

clear perception of a God Like complex is seen in the novel s antagonist the doctor

them in charge, Moreau differentiates from the rest believing his work puts him in
a god like position among his creations. Thinking like a higher power, Moreau
shows a strong concern over his secret experiments as he shifts around the island

After some time on the island, Prendick is exposed to the propaganda that spreads
through the beast s culture. They reference Moreau as being The law whom they
fear with humble bows. The beast people display this loyal attitude as they chant in
gruesome rhythm His is the Hand that wounds, his is the Hand that heals (68). The
island, their village, and the dreaded Dr.Moreau that brought them into this world
is all of what the beast people have come to apperceive, making them innocently
gullible. One such character described by Montgomery as complex trophy of
Moreau s skill, a bear, tainted with dog and ox, and one of the most elaborately
made of all the creatures seems to further his loyalty towards Moreau as the novel s
plot thickens. M ling separates himself from the other beasts as he is allowed to
sleep in a kennel near the lodge as well as being in charge of cooking and
maintaining efficiency, putting himself in an even closer relationship with his
master. As Moreau and Montgomery pursue a rebellious and vicious beast, M ling
puts his life before Moreau s as he attacks other beasts protecting his masters. The
relationship revealing a strong influence that Moreau holds over the beasts. While
M ling shows a disciple like relationship to Moreau, another character known as The

Theme Of Nudity And Drug Abuse In American Movies
1.In my opinion, a lot of American movies contain nudity or sexual scenes,
violence, harsh language or drug abuse. In some cases an American movie will
contain all of these subjects, and the result of that would be an R rated film. If I had
never been to America and saw a film that contained two or more of these themes
then I would probably make some concussions of my own on what and American is
and what their values or cultureis like. However, it all depends on what the movie
theme is. For example in comedies, depending on the rating, I would conclude that
Americans are funny and probably don t take things to seriously. If the comedy were
super unintelligent (like the movie sausage party which is rated R) I would think that
Americans are

The Bosnian Crisis came directly out of this Revolution and led to tensions between
powers. The Young Turks, a fairly new political group, had considerable power in the

As Ivan Gueshov, the Prime Minister of Bulgaria at the time describes it, the Young
Turkish Committee constitutes the only organized force in Turkey...[that] possesses
power enough to impose its will. The group s dominant stance on the Empire s

which had never taken effect in the nation s politics. They were, eager to instill
among all the various peoples of the Ottoman Empire a sense of Ottoman identity,

birth certificate, driver s license, and proof of legal entry if you a foreigner. Well,
the fact is that everyone can obtain such documents. Several of the men suspected of

Walter Elias Disney Essay
Walter Elias Disney
Disney has become a household name in American society, but most people are not
aware of Walt Disney s struggles before becoming one of the twentieth century s
most prominent and successful animators and film directors. Walt Disney is best

A majority consensus views hackers as evil people who do nothing by play around in

paragraph of this paper, the consensus is somewhat flawed. The confusion stems from
the definition of hacker and how they have been perceived. Hacking was originally
defined as the production of furniture with the use of an axe, but MIT (Massachusetts
Institute of Technology the origination of the replacement term hacker) define it as
students who pulled pranks with the use of a computer. In 1963, a group of MIT

Bird Imagery In Jane Eyre Essay
Bird imagery seems subtle when reading the story of Jane Eyre as it is scattered
amongst the pages of the novel, but in reality it is prominent and a crucial element
to the plot. The stylistic device is usually present in times of intense emotion or
when Jane must face Passion and Reason, personified concepts that shape the way
Jane matures, as she must choose between the two in difficult situations. The
imagery softens the hardship the protagonists must face as well. Despite the joy she
experienced at Thornfield, Jane has decided it was best for her to leave. Rochester

Black And White Photography. By Pranjal Bhatia.
Introduction.
Black and White Photography
By Pranjal Bhatia
Introduction
Photography is a scientific art of creating images by capturing light on a light
sensitive material. Mist and fog converts the world into a natural monochrome
with a soft stillness to it. Our eyes might not see in black and white but the human
brain knows to appreciate the art that a monochrome picture is. Black and white
cameras were existed since the 1930s and for an average user it might just seem
like an old technology that has been replaced with the new cool go pros and mirror
less cameras but for photographers and art lovers it s still an asset. Black and white
does not necessarily mean removal of color, it requires its own way of seeing. Film
photography allows one to have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Light and shadow is more obvious in absence of color. At the same time it does not
take away from the composition of a picture. A strong composition still tends to be a
strong composition minus the color. Since now we no longer have color to interest
the viewer, one is able to appreciate the curve, the shapes and the texture, which
otherwise may go unnoticed.
Monochrome film photography allows one to learn and express emotions in their
art differently. Great examples of this are the movie from 40s. They depicted all
the emotions death, love, and happiness with shades. Color usually makes this
process very easy. Another use of monochrome is for shooting nudes. Eliminating
color removes the smutty component from the picture and allows one to appreciate
the naked body as piece of art. One of the biggest reasons for the popularity of
black and white photography is its timeless nature. Black and white is still
considered a piece from photographic past as it adds a timeless quality to the picture.
Film Photography
Digital is great for color and can be pretty good for black and white also but in
order to add the three dimensional sharpness. Most of the black and white cameras
sold today are second hand from the 90s. Digital cameras have color sensor dots to
sense the color while producing a picture. Today film photography is of two broad
types; these include
Gender Roles In The Chrysanthemums And Good Country
People
Throughout our lives, we are faced with people who are sincere and people who do
not have our best interests at heart. In The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck and
Good Country People by Flannery O Connor, readers are left with many questions
about romantic relationships, personal value, and betrayal. While seeing both these
works through a feminist scope, I found that they both shared three main components:
genderroles, scammers, and victims. The authors of both stories illustrated these three
main ideas differently. Although there are many parallel themes, contrasting elements
can also be deeply analyzed.
Traditional gender roles exist between both stories. In Chrysanthemums, the main
character, Elisa, is depicted as a woman with great potential, but has to live in the
shadows of her husband. Her husband, Henry, is a successful farmer who gets to
play a more profound role in society, trading with other men and showing of his
property. On the other hand, Hulga did not have a husband, but she did have a
mother who wanted her to dress her up with bow ties to make her look feminine for
societal presence. How the main characters dress themselves, wearing more
masculine clothing and covering up are the same, however, their reasoning behind
standing apart from the norm of feminine clothing is different. Elisa seems to cover
herself because she was not vulnerable to her husband: Her figure looked blocked
and heavy in her gardening costume, a man s black hat pulled low over

large and massive demands of oil (Iron Mountain, 2016). However, the above

transportation of crude oil should be correctly placed (Iron Mountain, 2016). This

pipelines are set up well. For instance, pipelines should not be closely located to the
areas where people reside or carry out their daily activities because explosions are

There should, therefore, be a way of letting specific responders to be aware of the
train schedules and routes. There is also a mobile app called Ask Rail, which is
developed for the emergence of responders providing access to data relating to the
train with the incidents (Molinski, 2015). This gives the responders a chance to
know about the train which has had an incident and rush to rescue any victim of the
incident. This increases the safety of the railroad. Since there are no such measures
that have been put across in the tanker truck, the railroad is a better method of oil
transportation. New rules should be introduced for the use of trains in oil
transportation. There has been debate over new rules of transporting oil via the
railroad. These rules require that trains be installed with new brakes that will stop
hazardous materials that are flammable (Stevens, 2015). There have been appeals to
challenge the new rules. However, the safety administration denies these calls since
their aim is to reduce incidents in the railroad during transportation of oil. This has
increased concern about the transportation of oil over the railroad (Stevens, 2015).
Once the railroad has been implemented in this company, new rules that are strict
have to be set before the trains are used. Appendix

The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead
AMC s gritty and gruesome apocalyptic hit The Walking Dead places the blood
thirsty, agonized groans of zombies right in our living rooms. The show follows a
small group of survivors in the midst of a zombie apocalypse that has decimated
some seventy five percent of the population. The cable series which first premiered
in 2010 made no bones about its weekly offering of flesh eating, blood splattered
gore. The opening sequence of the pilot episode features a virus ridden little girl
being thrust into the pavement when former sheriff Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln)
shoots a bullet into her skull as he struggles to ward off her flesh hungry zombie
attack. The Walking Deadhas since amassed quite the following of fans ... Show

Perhaps the biggest fear, however, concerning viewership of The Walking Dead is
the possibility it has of eschewing one s moral compass. Viewers continually watch
protagonist Grimes and his cohorts violently kill and maim the walking dead
without pause and vice versa. It leads one to wonder, if this prolonged exposure to
killing without thought can also increase one s own ability to exercise uncivil
behavior without hesitation or remorse. If a society s values are represented in
what that society chooses to watch, should we be concerned that our viewing
choices revolve around barbaric killer instincts? One too, however, could take the
opposite look at what violent, post apocalyptic television, particularly The Walking
Dead , reflects about our society. Many critics argue that The Walking Dead is
ultimately a tale of one man s struggle to create peace and unity for his family
amidst a world of terror and strife. Our society s interest in disaster and cataclysm is
likely synonymous with our feelings of isolation and duress omnipresent in this
modern and technological age. The violence shown in The Walking Dead the fight for
survival, the loneliness, the internal struggles the characters face in response to the
violence can be compared to the challenges humans face every day.
In this society in which modernism distances humans from nature, each other, and
often a connection to what is genuinely important, it is easy to feel as though we are
living in a dark
Compensation Pl Definition And Strategy
The Compensation Plan, Definition and Strategy Compensation is commonly defined
as a systematic approach to offering value to employees in exchange for their time,
effort and work completed. An organization may provide several different types of
compensation that impacts the overall satisfaction of the employees and the growth
and success of the company. Essentially, amalgamating the compensation plan to the
organizational goals, objectives and company philosophy will support recruitment
and retention initiatives. A company s compensation plan should be logical, strategic
and deliberate as it delivers an abundance of vital information about the organization
to a prospective candidate or employee. The material reflected in the... Show more

Extrinsic rewards are tangible and take both monetary and non monetary forms
(p.414). Further, compensation is broken down into direct and indirect. Direct
compensation is the monetary component, taking into account base pay, wages,
salary and variable pay. Indirect compensation encompasses the benefits provided by
the organization to the employee. Applying Advanced Analytics to HR Management
Decisions: methods for selection, developing incentives, and improving
collaboration authored by Sesil (2013) implies that compensation is clearly a key
business decision and impacts the success of the organization. It emphasizes that
employee compensation is a divisive topic, and closely aligning pay and
organizational performance is vital to the well being of the organization. In fact,
compensation decisions are prone to biased decision making, getting the incentives
wrong can lead to human capital focusing on the wrong things and to employee
morale and engagement problems, employee turnover, or, as some would argue, to
the collapse of an organization (p.104). MMI recognizes, that in an effort to be
competitive in the local labor market a strong, concrete and fair
Reproductive Rights Legislation
In life, there will be difficult decisions that a woman must make, sometimes this
includes issues such as pregnancy and abortion. Originally thought to be a place for a
woman and her doctor, politics has found a way to intervene. This is reproductive
rights legislation, in which there are rules concerning abortionand often barriers such
as a wait time and mandatory delays. I will be discussing the history of
reproductive rights legislation. The aspect of reproductive rights legislation in
particular I will be exploring is abortion. I will highlight why abortion is important
to society and discuss my personal opinion of why I am passionate about this issue.
I will delve into the key concepts of abortion which include pro life and pro choice...

There is pro choice and pro life. Pro life considers abortion unethical while pro
choice considers it to be ethical. Some reasons why it would be labeled unethical
is because one may tie their religion to their ethical standpoint and examine the
potential life that a woman is carrying to be pure and destined for greatness. They
may argue that by having an abortion, one is taking away from the world a
potential Ghandi or scientist that may be able to someday create the cure for
cancer. They may reason that by having sex, a woman is already obliged to have a
child if she becomes pregnant and having an abortion is considered to be running
away from responsibility. They may also believe that by having an abortion, one is
committing murder. On the other hand, there are people who consider abortion to
be ethical because they reason that regardless of the potential life, it is a woman s
body, future, and ultimately, her choice. They may also reason that a woman
should not have the weight of feeling the obligation to have a child because it is
her decision to mold out her own future and not have roles imposed on her by
society. They may also argue that a fetus is not in fact a full human yet; therefore,
does not have a conscious and is analogous to a
`` Blame Photo Thieves, Not The Female Victim, By...
Strong Response Draft The web is filled with online trolls who would sell what
shreds of dignity they have left for an Angela Lansbury nude. Equally, the average
internet user has come to despise the delinquents who harm in the form of internet
torture. And while he or she could be blamed for being reckless, it is uncommon to
guilt the average internet user for being hacked. The fault lies with the malicious
hacker. In recent months, many celebrities have had private photos of themselves
hacked and posted on the internet for the world to see. While a blatant invasion of
privacy, it is also a sacrilegious towards the celebrity s body and their rights to
consent.
In Blame Photo Thieves, Not the Female Victim, columnist Leonard Pitts Jr. expresses
his perspective that while it is biologically natural for heterosexual men, regardless of
occupation or personal beliefs, to find scantily clad women attractive, it should be a
woman s choice of whether to pose naked for the public or not. Pitts believes that a
violation occurs when women are denied that choice and have personal nudes leaked
over the internet, such as in recent cases involving Jenifer Lawrence, Kate Upton,
Kirsen Dunst, and other high profile celebrities. Pitts claims that blaming the females
for taking the photographs or placing them on an unreliable cloud would be similar to
blaming the rape victim and the fault therefore lies with the perpetrator. Here, Pitt s
comments on the shrinking of the public sphere and
Annie John Research Paper
From the moment we are conceived in our mother s womb there is a special
connection being made, a feeling that can last a lifetime. Although that mother and
daughter bond can face challenges while growing up the meaning it has will never
change. In the novel Annie John, Annie at the young age of 10 has a young and
innocent mind and of course has a loving relationship with her motheras any young
child would. In the novel Jamaica Kincaidaccurately portrays how adolescence can
strain a mother daughter relationship. As Annie s mind and body starts to change her
mother tells her that in order for her to grow up she has to find her own way of life.
In Annie John the main idea is the stages of their relationship and how each changes
over time. The mother daughter relationship is set in 3 stages: childhood, adolescence
and adulthood. Mother and child relationships are intense and start from birth.
Although there are Mother and Son relationships, young boys tend to fall out quickly
and bond with their father, which could be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Can a bond be broken? I believe it can only be damaged but it should heel as one
grows older and becomes an adult. As one grows older they start to experience the
same thing their mother did and start to reflect on why the changes happened. A
mother will always be there for her children although it may seem like they are
doing the opposite. A mother wants her child to grow and live their life how they
choose too. In order for a damaged relationship to heel there has to be love and
closeness. This would be after becoming a parent. We would rely on our mothers to
help, give us tips and give us hope to be a great mother, because once a bond is
created and filled with love it can never be

Challenges During The Elizabethan Era
The Elizabethan Era or sometimes referred to as the Golden Age was a forty five
year time period in which Queen Elizabeth the I or Queen Bees made it possible
for England to become a powerful and thriving nation once again after the
instability her sister Mary or Bloody Mary and previous family members had left in
England years before her reign. Though Queen Elizabeth the I faced many challenges
during her reign she made it possible for England to thrive as a nation and to this day
her reign is considered one of the most successful and most honorable reigns in the
history of monarchs. The Elizabethan reign brought forth many great advancements
both culturally and politically, but through all this, one aspect of society was being

Women s self worth was hidden below all the masculinity that was so dominant at
the time. It might be inferred that Elizabeth the I decided not to get married to make
a specific point, the point that women can become great and make a country great
without men involved in their reign, only God. A question asked by many is that of
What would England have been like if women had been allowed to use their
intelligence for purposes other than housework? Many great things and advancements
could have been made if only they would have had the chance, but everything that
occurred during the Elizabethan Era had a purpose and it might be that in modern
days women take great initiative in many aspects because of the past things they went
through that helped initiate an ardor in women to make a difference in these present
Essay on All the Presidents Men
All the President s Men is a book by Carl Bernstein and Bob Woodward. The book
discussed what happened to President Nixon in the Watergate Scandal from Bernstein
and Woodward s point of view. The Watergate Scandal was a significant part of
presidential history. This even would result in Nixon s resignation and what would
have been his guaranteed impeachment. The Watergate Scandaltook an impact on
politics as a whole. Politicians are known as liars and people who keep secrets from
the public. The Watergate Scandal is something Nixon can never make up for, but
will always beremembered for.

Nixon had seven men who had helped him the whole time. These men are known as
the Watergate Seven . The Watergate Seven involved John Mitchell, H.R. Haldeman,
Kenneth Parkinson, Charles Colson, Gordon Strachan, John Ehrlichman, and Robert
Mardian. The Watergate Seven did many different things in the Watergate Scandal.
They broke into the Watergate hotel, wiretapped phones and attempted burglaries.
The Watergate Scandal was truly the biggest political scandal in United States
History. Over forty people where charged with crimes relating to the scandal.
Bernstein and Woodward were given a fantastic oppourtunity to uncover something
truly significant in history. The twenty one months of investigative reporting done
by these two men would ruin Nixon s name and make these two common everyday
reporters lives change forever. Woodward first got his life changing call on June
17th 1972 with his editor telling him about a small invasion of the Democratic
Party Headquarters. With being related to the scandal, two members of President
Nixon s cabinet, H.R. Hadlemen and John Ehrlichman, quickly resigned. When
first thought of the president even having something to do with the Watergate
Scandal, he made every effort to possibly hide this career ruining event. The break in
was first found by a security guard by the name of, Frank Wills. Wills saw a piece of
tape covering a broken lock. Wills was

Essay On Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh Essay Assignment.nov08.doc

  • 1. Essay On Gilgamesh Crafting an essay on the topic of Gilgamesh is both an intellectually stimulating and challenging endeavor. The epic of Gilgamesh, an ancient Mesopotamian narrative, offers a rich tapestry of themes, characters, and cultural nuances that demand a thorough understanding and thoughtful analysis. Firstly, delving into the intricacies of the narrative requires a comprehensive grasp of the historical and cultural context of ancient Mesopotamia. The social and religious milieu of the time significantly influences the characters and events in the epic, making it imperative for the writer to delve deep into the historical background. Furthermore, the character of Gilgamesh himself poses a multifaceted challenge. Unraveling the layers of his personality, exploring his strengths, flaws, and evolution throughout the narrative demands a nuanced approach. A successful essay must navigate the complexities of Gilgamesh's character, addressing his heroism, hubris, and the existential questions he grapples with. Moreover, the essay should not only focus on Gilgamesh but also engage with the various supporting characters, such as Enkidu and the gods, as they play pivotal roles in shaping the narrative. Analyzing their relationships, motivations, and impact on the storyline adds another layer of complexity to the writing process. The literary aspects of the epic, including its poetic language, symbolism, and narrative structure, present additional challenges. Crafting an insightful analysis that goes beyond surface-level interpretation requires a keen eye for detail and a deep appreciation for the nuances of ancient storytelling. In conclusion, composing an essay on Gilgamesh demands a comprehensive understanding of ancient Mesopotamian history, a nuanced approach to character analysis, and an appreciation for the literary elements woven into the epic. It is a task that requires not only academic rigor but also a passion for unraveling the mysteries of one of the oldest known works of literature. • 2. College Students Pursuit Of Grades So Shortsighted By... Proficiency Essay Grades have always played a major role in whether the student is successful or not. Deciding whether one s moves on in life or has to fix/finish. If one does not make the right grades they can put their future at stake. But are grades necessary to have in education? Personally, I prefer letter grades because I am capable of viewing the what I have which allows me to know whether I should work harder in the class or keep doing what I am doing. Having grades gives a kinda comfort for me because I have something solid; it is a system so it does not change. After reviewing a few essays on grading systems, the majority of them tend to be against having the letter system. One of the documents I read, How Three Schools Buck the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Labunski, a professor, believes that student only chooses to learn the information given to them that will be presented on the exam and ignore learning the rest. I personally do this because I see it as a waste of time but I completely understand why he thinks this. He states that grades are supposed to reflect what they learn and are not the goal of a college education (Labunski). By just focusing on the information one needs to receive a good grade they miss out on the information they might need in their actual job place. However, if the professors gave a reasonable amount of work it would be more likely to occur but they do give a lot of work which leaves the students with limited time. The only part I disagree with in this document is when Labunski begins to speak about how grades are not important at all. Sure an employer is not going to go looking through all of ones grades, they are just going to see that they got a specific degree or the see the outside activities that one participated in. But what about people earning money because of the grades they make; at this point, they are very important and can be life altering. If one does not make the grades they would lose the money and that would mean more for them to pay
  • 3. How Does Charlie Brooker Use The Satire In Black Mirror Black Mirror is a British television series created by Charlie Brooker about technology that is set in the near future. Each episode is a stand alone science fiction drama. The show uses dark satire in which technology creates a dystopia, eerily similar to what could happen in reality. The common theme in a few of the episodes is how the government influences and controls the people. Season two, episode two: White Bear. It begins with a woman, named Victoria, who wakes up with no memory, in a house, alone. She leaves to get help, but finds that all the other people are hiding in their houses, but when they see her, they come out to silently follow and record her on their phones. Then a group of people in masks, called the hunters, try to kill... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People can casually project almost anything they want with minimal consequences. But in this episode, there were actual consequences. But more people voted after the deaths were linked to the hashtag. And it came back around at the end. The government had control by spying on the people with the drones, and that was the reason the technology was compromised. This episode is successful because it links government spying with social media. It shows how all technology is interconnected and that there are many outcomes that may lead to unintended consequences. Black Mirror has been largely successful since it has been out on Netflix. Before, it only aired in the UK, and had a small following. It is heavily influenced by The Twilight Zone, with self contained stories that are both science fiction set in a different time, but offer social commentary to today s problems. Because it hits so close to home, Black Mirror has become very popular, even years after it first came out. Since every episode is a stand alone, the creators can cover a wider range of topics without having to stick to the same plot, just the common theme of technology. So there is an episode for
  • 4. The Day I Met Dictator I grew up in a system where I had to obey orders strictly and blindly. I was born in Myanmar, also known as Burma , and I lived there till I was twenty one. My country was ruled by the military government even before I was born, and the dictatorship had been established well when I was growing up. The most important rule I learned as I grew up was not to get involved in politics. The worst crime to commit in my country was doing politics, and the governmenttook severe actions such as brutal torture and many years of imprisonment to anyone who involved in political activities. I did not get into trouble throughout high schoolbecause I stayed away from politics. I even stayed away from conversations that involved how bad our government was. I was an obedient student and an obedient citizen. I had foolishly believed that I would be fine as long as I did not get involved in politics or any actions against the government. However, I learned that my life was not safe under the dictatorship no matter how hard I tried to protect it. Although I had never been sent to a principal s office during my high school years, I was called to the rector s office when I was a first year student in college. After I had finished high school, I attended Yangon Institute of Medicine. I was the only male student with long hair in the entire university, and my hair was long enough to reach the middle of my back. About two months after the semester had started, I received the letter from the
  • 5. Essay on Feminism in Dubliners | Feminism in Dubliners| Mrs. Atkins; English A3 Tuesday, May 25, 2010 James Joyce s book of short stories entitled Dubliners examines feminism and the role of women in Irish society. The author is ahead of his time by bringing women to the forefront of his stories and using them to show major roles and flaws in Irish society, specifically in Eveline and The Boarding House . James Joyce portrays women as victims who are forced to assume a leading and somewhat patriarchal role in their families. He uses them to show the paralysis of his native land Ireland, and the disruption in social order that is caused by the constant cycle of abuse that he finds commonplace in Ireland. Joyce is trying to end the Victorian and archaic view of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is seen when the narrator speaks about the story of the field that Eveline, her brothers, and another family s children used to play on which was bought by a man from Belfast in order to build a house. Another example, is how she and her brothers would play out in a field, and her father would come to hunt them in out of the field with his blackthorn stick (34). This also symbolizes the discord of family relations, and the premature annihilation of her childhood innocence by her father and the premature end of innocence that is caused by abusive men to their children in Ireland. Eveline is also denied the basic right to love and affection by her own choice. She finds a man who loves and values her, and is the exact opposite of her abusive father. Frank represents the opportunity for escape and a break in the cycle. She finally has an opportunity for a new life, and she chooses to stay in Ireland to take care of her father and brothers. Eveline s choice to stay in Ireland, rather than to leave with Frank can be seen as a result of the lack of self worth and mental constraints set on her by her father, which parallels the fact that Ireland s paralysis is caused by the abuse of male authority roles. Eveline feels tied to her father, in the same way a hopeless chained animal who knows no better than to wait patiently and endure. The illusion of captivity was so complete that even though she had an opportunity to escape her cage , she chose to stay in it.

Merit pay is a compensation system where base pay increases and is determined by an individual s performance. The first step in implementing or improving a merit pay program is to have a solid performance management program, and this is another way a merit pay program is beneficial. Merit pay is a way to be successful and effectively implement merit pay with a uplift in salaries, and this is a third way using a merit pay program is beneficial to an organization. There are some drawbacks when using merit pay programs, such as paying some employees more than others. If you pay high performing workers more than low performing employees, the high performers may stay, causing the low performers to complain or leave the organization. A second drawback in using merit pay program is that employees become less motivated if not paid to their satisfaction. For example, if employees feel they should be making more money for their performance, this causes them to have low self esteem, and want to find employment at other organization. The last drawback associated with

Frank Dikotter s Race Culture: Recent Perspectives on the History of Eugenics talked about the importance and relevance of Eugenics in our culture. Eugenics was a vital part of several social movements in the twentieth century that was linked to topics such as race, sex, hygiene, and more. Eugenics was talked about widely like other important matters like, sex education, public health, and other related topics. That talk was not always positive as some information about eugenics led to social fears and moral panics. This reaction led to the creation of several laws. In the United States, people who were mentally disabled were the main target for eugenic practices. As cited from Ian Dowbiggin s Keeping America Sane, he highlights the reasons why the psychiatric appeal to eugenics. The examples of Scandinavian countries and parts of America showed that scientific knowledge was not necessary for the spread of eugenic practices. The observation was that this was unevenly spread across the world. This is because there were probably more researchers active in cities in Asia like Tokyo and Shanghai, and even Bombay. But nonetheless, the idea of eugenics had very powerful effects on humans throughout the modern

The meal could be eaten out of the same tray it was heated in! Yes, eaten WITHOUT a plate, We won t kid you...there were quite a few people and companies instrumental in the concept of a complete meal that need only to be heated before eating. Thomas was given a $100 raise and a bonus of $1,000 for his invention, and asked Swanson to renegotiate his contract for a penny a dinner as long as he lived. A decision he later regretted. The American Frozen Food Institute honored him in their Frozen Food Hall of Fame as the inventor of the TV dinner and he secured a place on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where his handprints were featured alongside a tray print.. • 9. The Pros And Cons Of Children In The Foster Care System Over 600,000 children in the United States are in the foster care system. Reasons include, abuse, neglect and abandonment. These children lack nurturing environments and stable homes. Children within the foster care system have more mental, physical and developmental problems. It is imperative to understand the challenges children entering the foster caresystem are exposed to. The system works best when children are provided nurturing, and short term care until they can be placed back home safely or a permanent adoptive family. For many children, however, the stay is longer, with 30% remaining in temporary care for over two years. Staying in the system is detrimental to the child s well being. The foster care system is an unsuccessful intervention for children that cultivates development, health and mental issues. Where a child ends up being placed is determined by child welfare and the judicial system. However, how the placement is decided should depend upon a child social history, mental history and where they are developmentally. Caseworkers are often overloaded which leads to the children being placed in the wrong type of homes, which means the children are moved frequently. When children are frequently moved, it leads to disruptions that make it hard to form stable attachments, and hinder social and emotional development. There is a greater concern for children under the age of five, which is the largest group in foster care, considering the role strong and stable
  • 10. Bacteria On The Brain By Emily Eakin In Bacteria on the Brain By Emily Eakin, she writes about the ethics surrounding a doctor who attempts to save the lives of patients with brain tumors by using his own alternative methods. In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, the author writes about Victor and his creature s attempts to expand science, and answer moral questions concerning life and death. Regarding the substance of the article, Neurosurgeon Dr. Paul Muizelaar and his controversial treatment of three patients suffering from terminal braincancer engenders serious ethical debate. On one hand, Muizelaar epitomizes a man of brilliance and ingenuity, driven by the desire to correct his patients otherwise hopeless situations. On the other hand, a man filled with hubris who discounted the risks in his pursuit of success. Given the evidence present in the text of Frankenstein, Mary Shelley would contend that Muizelaar s actions were innovative and driven by his desire to save the lives of his patients. Shelley values the dedication to expand the knowledge of humankind as well as life and the avoidance of death at all costs. She often references the sciences, and the idea of pushing sciencefurther, for example, when Victor creates life. He had worked hard for nearly two years, for the sole purpose of infusing life into an inanimate body (35) and succeeds. In doing so he attempts to expand the sciences with his discovery, and achieve the impossible. Shelley highlights this dedication to broaden science when framing

It is grown in nearly every major wine producing country among a diverse spectrum of climates from Canada s Okanagan Valley to Lebanon s Beqaa Valley. Cabernet Sauvignon became internationally recognized through its prominence in Bordeaux wines where it is often blended with other red grapevarieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Franc. From France the grape spread through Europe and to the New World wineregions where it found new homes in California and New Zealand where it is now highly regarded as Hawks Bay s top wines. In 1867 the Phylloxera plague struck Europe and almost wiped out all the vineyards in Europe. The Carmenere vines were the most severely struck and for a very long time it was thought that the variety was extinct. Since then Carmenere has been to difficult and too much of a risk to replant in many places in Europe. Far from being extinct, in recent years Carmenere has been discovered to be thriving in several areas outside of France. In South America, mainly Chile, growers almost inadvertently preserved the grape variety during the last 150 years, due largely to its similarity to Merlot. Cuttings from the Carmenere grape were imported by Chilean growers from Bordeaux in France during the 19th century. They modelled their wineries after those in France and in the 1850s cuttings from Bordeaux, which included the Carmenere grape, were planted in the valleys around Santiago. Thanks to Chile s minimal rainfall and moderate temperatures during the growing season and the protection of the countries natural boundaries, growers produced healthier crops of Carmenere and there was no spread of phylloxera, or any other decease. During most of the 20th century Carmenere was inadvertently collected and processed together with Merlot grapes giving Chilean Merlot markedly different properties to those of Merlot produced
  • 12. The Princess Bride Analysis The Movie, The Prince Bride was about a young man named Westley and a woman named Buttercup that were deeply in love, but were separated for a long time due to their different paths in life. Westley would have to return in order to save Buttercup from not only an unwanted marriage but also to save her life. He must go through tons of trouble to be reunited with his true love Buttercup. In the movie The Princess Bride (1987) Rob Reiner explains that love is the strongest element Rob Reiner uses Irony and repetition to prove this point. Rob Reiner uses these elements in order emphasize the connection true love has is strong. In order to show people that love still exists therefore you shouldn t just give up on love. The movie pertains towards people that are in love or have experienced it due to the movie being focused on a connection between two people even though how separate their lives were they were able to be together. The author uses Irony to prove that love is the strongest bond between people. When Westley was in a mission to save Buttercup he had a barrier in his way, a giant in which the odds on beating the giant was not in Westley s favor. He was still able to Beat him in a fist fight, the connection true love created allowed him to win. The example from the movie was ironic because due to the odds westley had the viewers would think it would be impossible to fool the giant, the author was able to create physical but at the same time still making it ironic. This showed the viewers that there is nothing stopping him and true love. The author also uses irony when Buttercup believed that she was being forced to marry Prince Humperdink because he wanted the marriage, but actually the whole time Prince Humperdink was trying to have Buttercup killed by Vizzini who kidnapped and tried to murder her. He did all of this to frame it on Guilder to start a war. This shows irony and relates to the theme because the fact that Prince Humperdink was actually trying to kill Buttercup throws off the viewers because it seemed like he tried to save her when she was kidnapped but it was all his doings was completely against the viewer s expectation but created humor at the same time. This connects to the theme because

On the other hand, Mexicobelieved that the border should be based using the Nueces River. What was the issue at stake in Bleeding Kansas, and how did events in Kansas reflect the growing sectional division between the North and the South? The Kansas Nebraska act of 1854 allowed for Kansas to decide whether it should be a slave state or not. This would be determined by popular sovereignty, meaning that the majority on one particular side would be the ultimate decision. This caused an influx of people into Kansas to try and sway the decision of the state. There were both proslavery and antislavery citizens going to Kansas. As a result of this, there were massive conflicts that spread throughout Kansas. Many of these conflicts resulted in deaths on both sides of the argument. This showed the growing division among the North and South, and that they were willing to fight for what they believed in. These conflicts even spread to members of Congress, and outbreaks broke out within arguments. In my opinion, events such as Bleeding Kansas had negative effects on both sides of the slavery argument. It was however these same events that helped to build up to the Civil War that changed America forever. Ultimately the side of antislavery won, but they did take massive casualties as a result of the

Globshop s senior management requires an in depth analysis of the above strategy, which defines the company s future relationship with ISS. Growth of Offshore Outsourcing Several factors have fuelled the unprecedented growth in business process outsourcing . One such factor is the technological revolution. Technological revolution especially in the information technology sector has seen the introduction of fast and reliable communication channels. This facilitates a multi location execution of tasks where employees in different locations communicate using tools such as video conferencing. Analysis Of The Poem Bacchus Discovering Ariadne Jacob Jordaens, Bacchus Discovering Ariadne, late 1640 s This painting that I have found while venturing the Museum of Fine Arts has definitely caught my eye for infinite reasons. Bacchus Discovering Ariadne by Jacob Jordaens was definitely a painting that has a story, but the thing is, there isn t much about it, which is a challenge. Most of the focus in this painting is set on Ariadne and the meeting between her and Bacchus. Not only that but the painting, and all other paintings associated with this myth, focus on the shift from divine perfection to humanity that is found in Renaissance and Baroque artwork. The oil painting made by Jacob Jordaens tells the story of Ariadne, the princess of Crete, being deserted on the Island of Naxos by Theseus, the Athenian prince who she helped escape from her father s labyrinth. Bacchus, whom is the god of wine, and his satyrs discover her, and he falls in love with Ariadne. As a testimony of his devotion he holds up her crown, which he will then toss into the heavens to create a constellation in her honor. In this painting he shows Ariadne as an extremely feminine figure that s not only fair but regarded as beautiful The body of Bacchus is sculpted showing the muscles in his legs and throughout the rest of his body. But the contrast in this painting is striking. The contrast of this painting lies between the structural elements of Bacchus and of the three satyrs that have accompanied him. These satyrs are in dim lighting and less

With the overwhelming facts to the heartfelt stories Josh Fox exposes viewers to the damage that is yet to come. This movie was so effective as opposed to other climate documentaries because Fox explains the human aspects of climatechange. Traveling to twelve countries on six continents he explains how ocean warming, sea level rise, and air quality are already negatively affecting people in their everyday lives. People don t connect with facts, people connect with people. This is something I am realizing is critical in getting others on board with sustainability initiatives and to re think the role we play as consumers. After graduating I wantto work as a sustainability director for a large company. At the start of my sustainability journey I am discovering that the most essential part of a sustainability director s job is to be personable. People will be more likely to implement change when they realize how it benefits or affects them and their organization. Without effective communication, projects will never be funded, ideas will not be considered, and it is less likely that your impact will be as substantial as it could. As a sustainability advocate, it will be my job to promote and implement initiatives that will help us now, but also generations to come will feel those effects. Josh Fox shows it is the grassroot groups and people stepping up to protect our planet because they know it is necessary. I have developed the mindset, if not me than who? Out of all ten of the things that climate can t change, I believe that the most important one is resilience. As sustainability professionals, it is a fact of life that you will be told no. But the key is moving on from that. You can not get yourself worked up just because things didn t play out how we want. We can also not let getting told no beat us down, not everyone understands or wants to understand the environmental catastrophes that are upon us. With this in mind, we should use getting told no to drive us forward and work even harder on the next project we have. Resilience stood out to me in the movie when the Samoa tribe

Because Stravinsky is a composer himself, he has firsthand experience with the relationship between composer and conductor and has dealt with conductors that have conducted his compositions. Stravinsky s purpose in writing this passage is to convince the reader of the false perspective they possess of conductors. He wants to correct these pretenses and expose the façade of conducting in order for the reader to disassociate the conductor with being the star of the performance and help them focus... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In doing so, he encourages the reader to use the context of the paragraph to look into its meaning. His placement of quotes around great clearly conveys his sarcastic tone because he is not in fact praising the conductors in accordance to the like of actors, but, instead poking fun at them. The conductors do not actually understand the meaning of the music and must therefore adapt the music to themselves rather than themselves to the music; they are only standing in the way of genuine music making. Stravinsky also uses sarcasm in the last sentence to further his point by saying that If you are unable to listen to the music, you watch the corybantics, and if you are able, you had better not go to the concert. The conductor should not be the star of the performance and, in showing the audience what they should be feeling, the conductor minimizes the brilliance of the composition. Furthermore, his bold statements regarding conductors emphasize his dislike for them because he is figuratively attacking the profession, going beyond just harsh criticism. In using such bold diction, Stravinsky also manages to convey a sense of informality, creating the illusion that he is simply conversing with his audience. This in turn helps Stravinsky break down the wall between author and reader by allowing the reader to relate more to the ideas being

Light and shadow is more obvious in absence of color. At the same time it does not take away from the composition of a picture. A strong composition still tends to be a strong composition minus the color. Since now we no longer have color to interest the viewer, one is able to appreciate the curve, the shapes and the texture, which otherwise may go unnoticed. Monochrome film photography allows one to learn and express emotions in their art differently. Great examples of this are the movie from 40s. They depicted all the emotions death, love, and happiness with shades. Color usually makes this process very easy. Another use of monochrome is for shooting nudes. In The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck and Good Country People by Flannery O Connor, readers are left with many questions about romantic relationships, personal value, and betrayal. While seeing both these works through a feminist scope, I found that they both shared three main components: genderroles, scammers, and victims. The authors of both stories illustrated these three main ideas differently. Although there are many parallel themes, contrasting elements can also be deeply analyzed. Traditional gender roles exist between both stories. In Chrysanthemums, the main character, Elisa, is depicted as a woman with great potential, but has to live in the shadows of her husband. Her husband, Henry, is a successful farmer who gets to play a more profound role in society, trading with other men and showing of his property. On the other hand, Hulga did not have a husband, but she did have a mother who wanted her to dress her up with bow ties to make her look feminine for societal presence. How the main characters dress themselves, wearing more masculine clothing and covering up are the same, however, their reasoning behind standing apart from the norm of feminine clothing is different. Elisa seems to cover herself because she was not vulnerable to her husband: Her figure looked blocked and heavy in her gardening costume, a man s black hat pulled low over

However, the above challenges can be addressed in the following ways: Pipelines used in the transportation of crude oil should be correctly placed (Iron Mountain, 2016). This requires good planning to be done by the local authorities to ensure that the pipelines are set up well. For instance, pipelines should not be closely located to the areas where people reside or carry out their daily activities because explosions are likely to occur any time. There should, therefore, be a way of letting specific responders to be aware of the train schedules and routes. There is also a mobile app called Ask Rail, which is developed for the emergence of responders providing access to data relating to the train with the incidents (Molinski, 2015). This gives the responders a chance to know about the train which has had an incident and rush to rescue any victim of the incident. This increases the safety of the railroad. Since there are no such measures that have been put across in the tanker truck, the railroad is a better method of oil transportation. New rules should be introduced for the use of trains in oil transportation. There has been debate over new rules of transporting oil via the railroad. These rules require that trains be installed with new brakes that will stop hazardous materials that are flammable (Stevens, 2015). There have been appeals to challenge the new rules. However, the safety administration denies these calls since their aim is to reduce incidents in the railroad during transportation of oil. This has increased concern about the transportation of oil over the railroad (Stevens, 2015). Once the railroad has been implemented in this company, new rules that are strict have to be set before the trains are used. Appendix Background Information This proposal is written

The show follows a small group of survivors in the midst of a zombie apocalypse that has decimated some seventy five percent of the population. The cable series which first premiered in 2010 made no bones about its weekly offering of flesh eating, blood splattered gore. The opening sequence of the pilot episode features a virus ridden little girl being thrust into the pavement when former sheriff Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) shoots a bullet into her skull as he struggles to ward off her flesh hungry zombie attack. Perhaps the biggest fear, however, concerning viewership of The Walking Dead is the possibility it has of eschewing one s moral compass. Viewers continually watch protagonist Grimes and his cohorts violently kill and maim the walking dead without pause and vice versa. It leads one to wonder, if this prolonged exposure to killing without thought can also increase one s own ability to exercise uncivil behavior without hesitation or remorse. If a society s values are represented in what that society chooses to watch, should we be concerned that our viewing choices revolve around barbaric killer instincts? One too, however, could take the opposite look at what violent, post apocalyptic television, particularly The Walking Dead , reflects about our society. Many critics argue that The Walking Dead is ultimately a tale of one man s struggle to create peace and unity for his family amidst a world of terror and strife. Our society s interest in disaster and cataclysm is likely synonymous with our feelings of isolation and duress omnipresent in this modern and technological age. The violence shown in The Walking Dead the fight for survival, the loneliness, the internal struggles the characters face in response to the violence can be compared to the challenges humans face every day. In this society in which modernism distances humans from nature, each other, and often a connection to what is genuinely important, it is easy to feel as though we are living in a dark

Applying Advanced Analytics to HR Management Decisions: methods for selection, developing incentives, and improving collaboration authored by Sesil (2013) implies that compensation is clearly a key business decision and impacts the success of the organization. It emphasizes that employee compensation is a divisive topic, and closely aligning pay and organizational performance is vital to the well being of the organization. In fact, compensation decisions are prone to biased decision making, getting the incentives wrong can lead to human capital focusing on the wrong things and to employee morale and engagement problems, employee turnover, or, as some would argue, to the collapse of an organization (p.104). Pro life considers abortion unethical while pro choice considers it to be ethical. Some reasons why it would be labeled unethical is because one may tie their religion to their ethical standpoint and examine the potential life that a woman is carrying to be pure and destined for greatness. They may argue that by having an abortion, one is taking away from the world a potential Ghandi or scientist that may be able to someday create the cure for cancer. They may reason that by having sex, a woman is already obliged to have a child if she becomes pregnant and having an abortion is considered to be running away from responsibility. They may also believe that by having an abortion, one is committing murder. On the other hand, there are people who consider abortion to be ethical because they reason that regardless of the potential life, it is a woman s body, future, and ultimately, her choice. They may also reason that a woman should not have the weight of feeling the obligation to have a child because it is her decision to mold out her own future and not have roles imposed on her by society. They may also argue that a fetus is not in fact a full human yet; therefore, does not have a conscious and is analogous to a

And while he or she could be blamed for being reckless, it is uncommon to guilt the average internet user for being hacked. The fault lies with the malicious hacker. In recent months, many celebrities have had private photos of themselves hacked and posted on the internet for the world to see. While a blatant invasion of privacy, it is also a sacrilegious towards the celebrity s body and their rights to consent. In Blame Photo Thieves, Not the Female Victim, columnist Leonard Pitts Jr. expresses his perspective that while it is biologically natural for heterosexual men, regardless of occupation or personal beliefs, to find scantily clad women attractive, it should be a woman s choice of whether to pose naked for the public or not. Pitts believes that a violation occurs when women are denied that choice and have personal nudes leaked over the internet, such as in recent cases involving Jenifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Kirsen Dunst, and other high profile celebrities. Pitts claims that blaming the females for taking the photographs or placing them on an unreliable cloud would be similar to blaming the rape victim and the fault therefore lies with the perpetrator. Here, Pitt s comments on the shrinking of the public sphere and
