Contrary to the tendency of classical sociologists to focus on society within the
nation state, World systems theory portrays nation states as units within the larger
world system. Wallerstein described the world System as an international class
system based on countries as units instead of individual people. He thought there are
three main categories of countries, the core, semi periphery and periphery. The Core
countries have much greater control over the means of production and capital and are
thus much wealthier, whilst the periphery counrtries are exploited for their resources
and cheap labour. Such a system perpetuates socio economic inequality, however the
system is somewhat dynamic and states can gradually shift between categories. This

The first use of the triads was in 1817, when Johann Dobereiner observed that
elements could be placed in groups of three based on their properties. When the three

When ordered with atomic number there are only a few instances where the atomic
masses do not ascend which would have resulted in the two elements being switched
in the original order of elements when atomic weight was used. These errors are
pairs where the second of the pair is placed first when ordered with atomic weight;
three of which are argon and potassium, cobalt and nickel, tellurium and iodine.
The Law of Triads began to direct chemists towards the patterns found in lists or
tables of elements. Many chemists began exploring patterns but it wasn t until 1864
that the next step was made. John Newlands realised that when ordered by atomic
weight a regular pattern of properties formed. He noted that elements seemed to fall
into patterns of eight whereby every eighth element would have the same properties.

?The increased importance being attached to exchange rates is a result of the
globalisation of modern business, the continuing growth in world trade relative to
national economies, the trend towards economic integration and the rapid pace of

Perhaps the most visual reference to the Cold War was the Berlin Wall. Although
this wall only existed to divide Berlin into two sides, it became a physical
representation of the Cold war for many and its fall in 1989 has been regarded to

I have always been interested in the background history behind the Berlin Wall. Since
I started school in the 80s and was in High School while the Cold Warwas winding

There are many ways to analyze this painting. One way is to ask why the woman is
doing all of the cooking. Why is she the only one in the room, as if she is isolated
specifically so that she may complete the task at hand? Another way to look at the
painting is that she is performing the everyday duties of a woman s life. A woman

Dance has always been a part of my life, and it was always fun to look back at old
pictures and reminisce about all of the dance issues I had when I was younger. But
as I got older and better, the growing stopped. I wasn t learning as much new stuff,
