Essay On Mass Customization
Chapter 7: Mass customization of products has become a common approach in manufacturing
organizations. Explain the ways in which mass customization can be applied to service firms as
well. While mass customization is a viable option in manufacturing with digital factories and
employing lean manufacturing designs, service firms have to employ a more productive
environment to make mass customization profitable. Mass customization refers to using mass
production technologies to quickly and cost effectively assemble goods that are uniquely designed
to fit the demands of individual customers (Daft, 2016, p. 271). The key challenge for service mass
customization is to translate information about consumer preferences gained through market
research into a format that can be easily used for service modularization decisions and customer
contact personnel training (Haas Kunz, n.d., p. 603). In the service arena, mass customization
becomes an ongoing configuration process with direct involvement of the customer coupled with
professional advice by service personnel who understand the configuration rules and know them by
heart. A clear understanding of the customer s needs is required, as well as a requirement by service
personnel to provide the customer clear and concise configuration options that strike the perfect
balance between flexibility and complexity. Also, a continuous interaction between frontline contact
personnel and the customer is a consequence that must be

HOW MUCH SHOULD WE USE DERIVATIVES HEDGES?
A Study in Airline Industry
Changgull Song
Fordham University, Deming Scholars MBA, changgull@gmail.com
For managers of airlines, it is not always easy to predict the jet fuel costs, which affect the
profitability of the firm. As a solution, some airlines aggressively hedge against the variability, but
some others don t. Here, we are trying to find an answer to a question, How much should they
hedge?
Variability in Earnings: Is it Bad?
In a management world, it is a common knowledge that variability harms the efficiency. For
example, a combination of variability in lead time of raw materials will make the firm harder to

In Figure 1, jet fuel costs reflect adjustment of gain or loss from using derivatives for hedging
purpose. Among the six airlines studied, Southwest was the only airline that maintained aggressive
long term fuel hedging plan. Figure 2 shows Southwest s jet fuel costs to operation expenses ratio
before and after adjustment of its fuel hedges.

Southwest s gain from hedges is large enough to compare with its operation income. As shown in
Table 1, from 2004 to 2006, it will not be an exaggeration to say the most (or even more) of its
operating income came from hedge gain. How was it possible? Or, why other airlines that hedged
part of their jet fuel costs could not result in similar results?

Requirements For Commission Management And Management
3.1.1Requirements for commission management
RBM is part of commission management and comes under the managerial responsibility of the
officer responsible for the commission. It is very important to ensure that the results based
monitoring system is based on the results model. The monitoring system must be possible to
provide information all the time on the following points:
пѓ whether and to what extent the measure is moving towards the objective in accordance with
the results model and the underlying assumptions;
пѓ whether the expected results as well as unexpected positive or negative results are being
generated;
пѓ what systematic management and strategic decisions can be identified for steering the measure;
пѓ to what extent the measure contributes to achieving overarching results, and
пѓ whether risks influence the achievement of results by the measure
3.1.2What needs to be monitored?
Impact
Impacts describe indirect benefits of our interventions. Our programme contributes to impact. The
main purpose of impact monitoring is to prove whether our interventions are bringing and will have
potential to bring the defined changes that has been agreed on programme objective.
Impact monitoring goes beyond output and outcome monitoring, but relies to a large extent on the
information generated by output and outcome monitoring. Impact monitoring is usually not done
regularly and it can be done through surveys. These surveys can be conducted internally by project

Women Are Over Sexualised In The Music Industry Essay
Discussion
To find out whether people believe that women are being commodified in the music industry or not
I created a questionnaire. I asked an equal amount of men and women to get an even opinion from
both genders. The questionnaire had five questions that were:
1.What is your gender?
2.What would you prefer in a music video?
3.When watching a music video, what do you focus on more?
4.Do you think women are over sexualised in the music industry?
5.Do you think men are over sexualised in the music industry?
From conducting the questionnaire I can conclude that 95% of the people I asked believed that
women were being oversexualised. When watching a music video they focused more on the song
and choreography, than how attractive the people in the music video were. The results from the
questionnaire suggest that most people aren t superficial when it comes to the music industry,
however my research ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Song Of Roland Analysis
Hatred and Wealth
Many readers of The Song of Roland find that the hatred and belittling of Roland and Ganelon is
very evident but is not really explained why they hate each other. It is easily seen they have a
relationship as step father and step son that can be quite full of altercations in most cases yet, Roland
is still not letting friends such as Oliver talk about Ganelon even when they have noticed being set
up for death. The scholar T. Atkinson Jenkins has looked into reasons for the hatred and treason
that occur in the journal Why Did Ganelon Hate Roland? Jenkins provides many options to
Ganelon s hatred for Roland. To me the most illuminating thing is the way hatred mostly likely was
built on wealth, and today many people find the same reasons to be jealous and even hate others.
Throughout the Jenkins essay he uses the Ganelon prosecution which was not read in class, but
can be summarized best as Ganelon revoking being a traitor, and stating, It was Roland who
cheated me of gold and goods; and so I made him suffer and die... (Unknown 1310). His fellow
kinsmen asked king Charlemagne to set Ganelon free and Charlemagne is distraught by their
words and calls all the men traitors (1311). Jenkins finds most every account of Ganelon and
Roland participating in name calling, and crazily in the passage no one seems to pay any attention
to the disgrace. Throughout the essay Jenkins finds quotes such as my poor imitation of a father
(120) from using words such as

Conspiracy Theories Have Caused People To Question Everything
Conspiracy theories have caused people to question everything the government tells them for
hundreds of years. A conspiracy theory is an explanation of an event or situation that invokes a
conspiracy without warrant. Conspiracy theories generally involve an illegal or harmful act carried
out by the government or other powerful actors. The Moonlanding is still one of the biggest
conspiracy theories in the world. After forty eight years it is still being debated and discussed in
many laboratories, and classrooms across the globe. On July 20, 1969, two American astronauts by
the name of Neil Armstrong, and Buzz Aldrin allegedly, landed safely on the moon. The entire
world was shocked, especially the Soviet Union. On that day many people were... Show more

Some people have reason to believe that the dark interior of the space shuttle looked like the
darkness of space, and the circular window gave the circular shape of the earth. The film also
states that one of the astronauts used a crescent shape to alter the shape of the earth as they drifted
farther into space. The consistency of the video was also at question. The film shows decent
quality color video inside of the spaceship, but the film on the moon was black and white. Many
conspiracy theorists claim that the video footage was leaked from NASA by accident. When the
video footage was leaked conspiracy theorist dissected the footage and made a hypothesis of how
the footage was produced. NASA says that every theory is false and they stand behind their
statements firm.
What motivated the moon landing?
The moon landing was highly motivated by the space race between the United States, and the Soviet
Union. The space race caused a very tense tone in each country, as they both were trying to be the
first to make it into space. The Soviet Union made the first milestone by launching Sputnik into
the earth s orbit on October 4, 1957. Sputnik was the world s first manmade satellite to make it
into outer space. This was such a frightening time for the United States. The United States did not
know if it was sent to space for a nuclear launch or

The Overlooked Issue of Cervical Cancer Essay example
Cervical cancer has a major impact on women s lives; it is the second most common cause of
cancer related diseases and death among women worldwide. According to the Center for Disease
Control and Prevention (2010), cervical cancer is the cancer that forms in tissues of the cervix. The
cervix is the lower, narrow end of the uterus that connects the vagina to the upper part of the uterus.
Cervical canceris a slow growing cancer that may not cause any symptoms at first but may cause
pelvic pain or bleeding from the vagina later. It is mostly caused by a human papillomavirus(HPV)
infection. HPV is a common virus that is passed from one person to another during sexual activity
(Center for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2010).

The rate is more than twice of what is seen in non Hispanic white women. African American women
develop cervical cancer about 50% more often than non Hispanic white women. Besides ethnicity,
other factors that can increase the risk of getting cervical cancer are smoking, using birth control
pills for a long time, and having multiple sex partners (CDC, 2010).
2 Pertinent issues on the delivery of healthcare related to cervical cancer The two main issues
that affect the delivery of healthcare related to prevention and early detection of cervical cancer
are finance and the lack of awareness. Financial issues play a major role in whether or not
women are screened or vaccinated for cervical cancer. The ACS (2010) reported that uninsured
women are less likely to acquire screenings or vaccines. However, many states tried to solve the
financial problem by ensuring that private insurance companies, Medicaid, and public employee
health plans will provide coverage and reimbursement for Pap smear screening tests. The ACS
supported such coverage assurances because they removed financial barriers for women who have
health insurance, but whose insurance plans previously did not cover Pap smears (ACS, 2010). The
lack of awareness about cervical cancer is another contributing factor besides financial concerns.
According to the National Cancer Institute (NCI), women with low

Effects Of Greed In Tao Te Chini
Across many texts, greed is a recurrent theme because its evil nature wreaks havoc in people s
lives. Further, greed causes many other sins such as lust, adultery, envy and theft. Acts such as
these lead people away from their moral compass and into a life of calamity and dissatisfaction.
Greed is often a well that is never filled and as humans are too weak to withstand their temptations,
they go to great lengths to try to quench their thirst. A compilation of Chinese poems titled Tao Te
Chingwritten by Laozi, illuminate how greed is a precipitate to things that go awry in life. As seen
through the scope of the Tao Te Ching, various events from the ancient Indian epic poem by
Valmiki, The Ramayana, as well as the Middle Eastern folk tales, The Thousand and One Nights,
showcase characters that struggle to cope with their greed. This paper will argue that greed is the
source of all evil because it blinds the sense of judgement and proportion leading people to take
immoral actions. It will conclude that redemption can only be found through self realization and
selflessness.
The Tao Te Ching focuses on the effects of greed and how it compromises people s lives. There
are different types of greed such as materialism and lust. They are desires for property and the
body which neither of the two is good in excess. Laozi further explains what greed brings to life by
stating, Free from desire, you realize the mystery. Caught in desire, you are only the manifestations

S. E. Hinton: One of the most successful authors from Oklahoma.
This is where Susan Eloise Hinton s story begins. She was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on July 22,
1948 to Lilian and Grady P. Hinton. The author grew up in Tulsa as well, beginning to kick off her
writing career during the year of 1967 when her first book came out, titled The Outsiders . She was
inspired at a young age, 17 to be exact, and began being called The Voice of The Youth . Her first
story was influenced by witnessing a Greaser friend being beaten by a Soc , and decided to write
and make aware of what went on at school, even in a small town. Every one of her works got

She wrote The Outsiders so she would have something to read, or so she said. If only she had
known that the rest of America also had something to read now, thanks to her.
The year is now 1970, and Susan is only 18 years old. The Outsiders was outrageously popular, and
the major success enabled Hinton to attend the University of Tulsa, where she would meet her
future husband, David Inhofe, and earn a degree in education. She wasn t going to stop with just
one work, the strong will to write always clung to her like a crying child to it s mother. At one
point in her life, she suffered from a condition called writer s block, that generally has to do with
losing the ability to write, or be slow with creativity prohibiting the author to create new works.
However, David Inhofe would make Susan write at least two pages a day to get over her writer s
block, or the two would not leave the house that day. After the fact, her next book would be
named This Was Then, This is now , which would be published in 1971 and also soon get
recognized as a classic novel by Susan. The book is about two foster brothers that get torn apart as
one gets more engulfed by school and girlfriends, as the other moves deeper into a life of crime and
substance abuse. In each book, Hinton shows the real maturity of adolescent males in Tulsa who
grow by making crucial judgements, and the true harshness within the students in the lower classes.

Social Contract Theory On The Origin Of State
SOCIAL CONTRACT THEORY
1. INTRODUCTION:
The social contract theory is one of the oldest theories on the origin of state. This theory came into
existence as a reaction against the divine origin theory. The term social is something which is
connected with the society, while contract means an agreement between two or more people. Thus
a term of political theory, social contract implies an agreement that makes society possible .this
theory holds that the state is the voluntary and deliberate agreement on the part of the people
those who emerged from the state of nature, in order to form a state based on a contract between
the people and the sovereign and is not made by the god and thus implies that the state is a
man`s deliberate creation to serve his needs. The core idea behind this theory is an assumption
that there was a period in human history, when there was no state at all and no political law
existed. The idea that the power to the ruler is given based on some kind of agreement between
him and his subjects is quite old. The social contract theory envisages a state of nature where
there were no organised government and rulers. There were no man made laws and no authority
to govern the people .the state of nature was prepolitical the idea of social contract divides the
state into two phases, i.e. one is the state of nature which was the life of the people before the state
came into existence and second is the creation of the state as a result of the contract entered

George Washington The Indispensable Man Analysis
George Washington is a towering historical figure who is considered the father of the United States.
James Thomas Flexner captures the man, not the myth, behind this legendary icon in one concise
single volume biography, Washington: the Indispensable Man. This book is a condensed but
altogether new version of Flexner s previous four volume biography of George Washington. This
smaller scale book is well written, and explores Washingtonas the human being behind the
legendary icon (New York Times Book Review) to bring the reader to a closer relation to a man
removed by time and history. Of time and history, GeorgeWashington had a great deal more of it
which Flexner had to cover. Washington was a major national figure for twenty four years from his
election as Commander in Chief to his death, and he was hardly twenty when his role in the French
and Indian War made him internationally known. The wide ranging subject of Washington must
have been difficult to fit into one encapsulated volume, but Flexner manages not only to do that but
also writes straightforward in thought with flowing ideas and logical conclusions. The first chapter,
of course, starts from George s Birth and tells of his childhood of growing admiration for the wilds
of the frontier and the British Army. A little later, the book moves forward to Washington s first
military blunder in inciting the French and Indian War which makes the name George Washington
internationally known. After this incident, Flexner

Dbq Essay On Sweatshops
Sweatshops are factories that are used around the world that major brand companies use to make
products. These factories have gained media attention and controversy for the long hours and low
pay given to the workers. Many people say to boycott these factories because of the latter reasons,
but consumers shouldn t boycott companies that make sweatshopproducts. The first reason
consumers shouldn t boycott these products would be people actually deliberately take these jobs
because in developing countries most jobs don t pay that much. The second reason consumers
shouldn t boycott sweatshop products would be that it allows a lot of people in the developing
worlds to rise out of poverty. To summarize, consumers do not have the ethical responsibility to
boycott products made in sweatshops. As stated in the previous paragraph, people actually take
these jobs willingly because in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One point of their argument is companies exploit poor people in developing countries as said in
document 1. However, this doesn t apply to every sweatshop just a few and most people that
work at sweatshop factories taking these jobs willingly and were confused as to why people
wanted to shut down their workplaces as stated in an interview with some sweatshop workers in
China. Another main point of their argument is that conditions in these factories are abusive and
horrible. However, again many people take these jobs willingly meaning that they really don t care
about these conditions because they need money. Finally they believe that boycotting sweatshops
will do something good for the world. In the video it makes a very good point that at least
sweatshops are doing something to end global poverty while the people who are trying to boycott
these sweatshops may think they are doing something but in reality they aren t doing anything to

Cromwell was installed as Lord Protector in December 1653, and throughout his time as Protector,
Cromwell aimed to heal and settle the wounds of the past and to create a godly England .
However, by the end of his life the Protectorate had the support of a narrow population.
Nevertheless, the Protectorate had various strengths and weaknesses.
An evident strength of the Protectorate was the aim to achieve a civilian based government as
shown in Source 3, where Cromwell did attempt to make parliament representative as well as to
give Parliament a genuine role in the constitution . The system of government was fairly stable, ...

The National Church was aimed at saving the people of England, it was able to guide and teach
people, thus reform manners and behaviour. In addition, the system of Triers and Ejectors set up
in 1654 was effective as local commissioners had the power to expel ministers of low standards.
But, this did not mean that form of worship was determined from the Church, each individual
congregation was able to worship in their own personal way. The Major Generals in 1657 did
advance godly reformation to a certain extent, as many districts did become godly, however this
did highly depend on the enthusiasm of the Major General, as demonstrated by Major General
Worsley in Lancashire, who was able to close over 200 alehouses. This suggests that systems of law
and order were enforced , so there was a deal of progress made .
Although there were disagreements over the army in politics, it is evident that the army were
successful in suppressing rebellions as reflected in the crushing of Penruddock s rising in 1655.
Cromwell introduced the Major Generals, who were successful in maintaining security, promoting
godliness and reduced the size and cost of the standing army. In addition, the Protectorate was

camera but it should be Alex and his loved ones. Ted takes his experience in China and uses it to

This signified a major break toward the fight for social justice and the profession of social work.
They were using facts gathered from their work in the population to create structured methods of

leader in the social reform movement. She fought to write and edit legislation about housing,

that every person deserved his or her equal share of rights as a citizen of the United States. She

skills on resolving disagreements; conflictis not always bad. Peer conflict, however, can lead to
aggressive behavior because of significant emotional and physical harm. Many youth lack the social

Adults mediate children s interaction and in doing so adults need to learn the necessary tools to
helping our children handle conflict. In school and at home, it is important to help develop social
skills. Skills such as building friendships, emotional regulation, problem solving, and being
supportive are best learned at an elementary school age. Children are taught what is socially
acceptable through reward and consequence. Once children reach adolescents age, it is best to teach
conflict resolution techniques. By implementing peer mediation, the children learn how to
recognize a conflict and learn how to resolve a conflict on their own. At the middle and high
school age level, it is also important to practice respectful and positive behaviors. At this age
adolescents are going through hormonal changes and if adults focus on practicing positive
respectful behaviors the habits will form and the child will have the natural skills to interact at an
adult level.
Focusing on the individual, factors of peer conflict like problem solving, self regulation, and
language are linked with youth who engage in aggressive behaviors toward their peers. The
International Journal of Language Communication Disorders, Interaction Before Conflict and
Conflict Resolution in Pre School Boys with Language Impairment, addresses the factors associated
with peer conflict. The authors of this article explain that children with language

Coming of Age in Mississippi Essay example
The first main event that I believe led to Anne Moody becoming an activist for Civil Rights was
when she was younger, her cousin George Lee was babysitting and he burned down the house in
a fit of rage and when Daddy gets home he blames it on Essie Mae (Anne Moody). This
foreshadows all of life s injustices that will be thrown her way. The next time was when she made
friends with white neighbors and they decided to go to the movies, Anne couldn t sit with her
friends, she had to sit in the balcony with all of the other blacks. She did not understand why it was
this way. Another event was when she was in high school, she changes her name to Anne Moody,

She showed them that they could be equal. The only difference was the color of the skin. She
taught them that that wasn t even a big difference. She fought segregation her entire life.
The most drastic incident that happened to Anne was when she was working in Canton,
Mississippi for a cause of voter registration. People involved in the movement are dying left and
right, and this becomes very discouraging to her. She finds out that she is on the KKK black list
and fears for her life. She finds out that her family is also afraid and they stop talking to her. She
quits her job and moves back to Canton and goes back to her family. She sees how complacent
her family is and this frustrates her. Her family treated her like a stranger, and when she graduated
from Tougaloo, no one showed up for her graduation. In the end of the book, McKinley is
murdered in front of nonviolent civil rights activists. Anne Moody wonders if things will ever work
out.
Growing up in the north, and being white, we were taught in school what the conditions were in
the south and all over America for blacks. I never really thought much of it, like many kids my age,
because it never affected me. I ve been told by teachers, speakers, and whoever else my school

Analyzing Seamus Heaney s Blackberry-Picking
The poem Blackberry Picking is about a young man s coming of age, and how the lesson he
learns, about picking blackberries, relates to the human realization that reality is not always
how we want it to be. Seamus Heaney illustrates this lesson by showing the narrator s unabiding
desire for the blackberries when he speaks of the lust for picking and how he was willing to go
out in the fields to pick the blackberries despite having to go where briars scratched and wet grass
bleached our boots in obvious discomfort (7 8,10). Furthermore, after the blackberries had turned
bad the narrator clearly tells us, each year I hoped they d keep, knew they would not (24). This
final bit at the end shows how the narrator matures and has come to accept... Show more content on

The first thing that is noticeable about the way Seamus wrote this poem is his use of rhyme or
lack thereof. He uses slant rhymes throughout most of the poem an example being sun and ripen
on lines one and two. This could be interpreted to portray how the speaker feels. The speaker
wants the blackberries to stay sweet despite his experience picking blackberries that would
always end up rotting. At the same time, the slant rhymes are so close to rhyming, but never fully
do creating a bittersweet feeling that symbolizes how the speaker loves the blackberries, but how
he hates how they rot. In the text this is reinforced when he says, I always felt like crying. It wasn
t fair (22). Another example of Seamus creating this bittersweet tone in the poem is how he uses
iambic pentameter throughout most of the poem, but similar to how the slant rhymes don t quite
work, on every couple of lines he breaks the meter and adds an extra syllable. This feeling is
continued throughout the poem until the second stanza when Seamus starts to correct these things.
He does this by starting to write in true iambic pentameter except for one time on line 21 when
sour adds two extra syllables sustaining the rhythm he built up, but still adding emphasis to the
word sour. Seamus connects the bitter sweet or sour tone to a line that is out of place. Eventually,
the poem is exactly what it

Should We Be About Aerosols Not Ozone
Introduction: SHOULD BE ABOUT AEROSOLS NOT OZONE
Climate change is one of the central topics in current environmental research. Earth s climate is
highly dependent on the atmospheric radiative balance. However the atmosphere itself is
dependent on the solar radiation input and output, clouds, the abundance and distribution of trace
gases and aerosols. Aerosols are the globally distributed specks of matter that can be described
based on their shape, size and chemical composition. Despite their relatively small size these
globally distributed specks or particles when found in the atmosphere have the ability to strongly
influence both the transfer of radiation energy and special distribution of latent heating thus
influencing the weather and climate.
Aerosol particles originate from a wide variety of natural and anthropogenic sources. Aerosols can
be grouped into primary and secondary particles. The primary particles are directly released from
sources such as the incomplete combustion, volcanic eruption, human activities and wind driven
suspension of soil, dust, sea salt and biological material. While the secondary particles form within
the atmosphere by interaction of the already existing particles. Depending on their density aerosols
have a potential to reach as far as the stratosphere where majority of the ozone is found. Although
majority of the ozone is found in the upper part of the atmosphere, it is still vital for human well
being. Ozone functions to protect

Sir Thomas Wyatt was born in the year 1503. The son of Sir Henry Wyatt and Anne Skinner, he
went on to attend St. John s College in Cambridge. He first took a place in the court of King
Henry VIII in 1516. In the year 1520 he was married to Elizabeth Brooke at the age of seventeen.
His son, of the same name, was born in the year 1521. Wyatt s marriage to Elizabeth was
miserable and the couple is believed to have been estranged by the second half of the 1520s
(Burrow). Thomas Wyattand Elizabeth Brooke were separated in 1525 when Wyatt accused his

The poem can be seen as a parable relating to Anne s relationship with Henry VIII. When Wyatt
speaks of the deer as the possession of the sovereign, not to be pursued by others, he is accepting
that Anne has been reserved for the king alone. Wyatt would have been forced to withdraw as a
suitor after the King had shown interest in her. This is made evident when Wyatt says: I leave
off, therefore, / Since in a net I seek to hold the wind (7 8). He realizes the impossibility of being
with Anne. It is a clever description of Henry s possessiveness and Wyatt s disappointment and
feelings of helplessness under the circumstances.
In 1536, Anne Boleyn was charged with adultery. Thomas Wyatt, along with four others accused
of being romantically linked to the queen, were imprisoned. It was widely believed that Wyatt
was indeed her lover. Another lyricist, Mark Smeaton, was among the accused in the same year so
this suggests that the queen had a circle of lyrists close enough to her to make a king claim that
her intimacy with these men was sexual (Burrows). However, Wyatt was released shortly after
while the other accused lovers along with the queen were executed.
Anne s death and his imprisonment are said to have changed him. When he was released [t]he

Causes Of Overgeneralization In Canada
Aboriginal people have long rich history in Canada, but with this history they have dealt with an
abundant amount of injustice, they have been constantly been overgeneralized in the Canadian
system of justice leading Aboriginal people to a circle of disadvantage involving poverty and
inequality, to employment barriers, health care matters, and education matters as well. Explicit
procedures were deliberated to help break this cycle specific methods were put in place. Hence,
Aboriginal people have faced in equality in many different forms in the criminal justice. For
instance Aboriginal people experience higher victimization their annual statistics comes to an
average of 40 percent when for non Aboriginal people it is at 28 percent. Leading to higher
incarceration rates of Aboriginal incarceration rate at 1,300 per 100,000 which is about ten times
more than Canadians (140 per 100,000 adults). So leading causes of overgeneralization of
Aboriginal people like this not only because of systematic discrimination by biases in police officers
work or the criminal justice system it is also due to things like socio economic marginality, and
colonial experience they have experienced. Another group that struggles with this issue that
Aboriginal people faced of overgeneralization is African Americans. When it comes to 2015
statistics unemployment rates for Aboriginal Canadians is at 14 percent person when African
American is just underneath them at 11 percent. But some statics ended up

Division Of Labor In Emile Durkheim, Adam Smith And Karl Marx
The division of labor is the process through which community members perform specialized types
of work with a common objective. This has received significant theoretical discussions based on
social thoughts from the theories of Emile Durkheim, Adam Smith and Karl Marx. Throughout
human history, the division of labor has been present from the cultural perspective in its most
essential form. Division of labor was mainly based on gender such as the case of hunter gather
societies. In this case, while women gathered food and took care of their children, men hunted for
game meat. This paper will discuss several theorists developed to define the concept of division of
labor.
According to Muldoon (2013), increasing levels of specialization also lead to lack of enthusiasm
among workers in addition to reduced overall skills in their work. This perspective was refined and
extended by Karl Marx who was a popular economic theorist. However, Karl Marx labeled this
process as alienation, where workers were turned to be more specific individuals coupled with
work repetitious eventually becoming completely alienated (Calhoun 2012). In fact, Marx
indicated that such division of labor among workers was physically and emotionally depressing
and compared it to a machine s condition. In this regard, he was guided by the firm belief that the
fullness of production was a prerequisite to the process of attaining liberation in human beings and
accepted the notion of a strict division of labor as a necessary evil that was only temporary.
However, the most important theoretical contribution that Marx made towards the concept of an
economy, was his sharp distinction between the economic or technical division and social division
of labor (Muldoon 2013). That indicated that some form of co operation in employment was as a
result of technical necessities. However, some evidence suggested that others resulted due to the
functions of social control that is related to the concepts of status and class hierarchy (Calhoun
2012). If individuals conflated these two roles, it often appears as though the existing labor division
is technically immutable and inevitable as opposed to the notion of an influenced or constructed by
power relationships.

Human Nature In Gilgamesh
In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh was mostly divine but shared minimal characteristics of a god.
Such characteristics were bold physical structures and the strength of a wild bull which he inherited
from his mother, Ninsun, the cow goddess. Everything else such as his characteristics, mentality,
and actions mirrors ours, humans which makes him more like us than a god. His actions portray
the burden of the flawed human nature that we all carry such as being aggressive, competitive, and
running away from our fears.

Furthermore, by agreeing to bet his life on the success of his quest, Gilgamesh reveals the desire
for being remembered by humans which are specified in the statement, I must set my hand to

but a want. It s just the nature of human to not be satisfied with anything that we have.
Something deep inside us always desires for more. Gilgamesh was the king of Uruk, instead of
creating the reputation of a kind, considerate, generous king, he decided to slay a tremendous
monster and tried to impress others instead. It s the most common mistake that we humans
always make. We tend to be so busy impressing others and striving for their cheers with such
frequency, that we forget to be ourselves and think before we act.We often feel self conscious and
inferior to ourselves after we experience failure, which we fail to tolerate. Impressing others and
having the ought to be seen in a positive perspective is what makes us compete against one another
which might not always be morally right. Sometimes it s better to be the best together rather than
ruining relationships due to the consequence of proving to the world that you re finessed.
Gilgamesh harassing young girls and women of his kingdom implies that it s also an aspect of the
human nature to be aggressive and compel others to do something for their favor. Although we are

Relationship Between Culture And Economic Incentives
In the following, I will argue that in order to understand change we need a concrete understanding
of the relationship between culture and economic incentives, not a set primacy of one over the
other. Change should ideally be explained by a synthesis in which both culture and economic
incentives are taken into account. It is not only about stating that there is a relationship but also
about analysing how that relationship works in terms of mechanisms.
section{Synthesis in an Ontologically Divided Field?}
In this section, I will develop the scope for synthesis regarding culture and economic incentives in a
political economic analysis of change.

I claim that we need two levels of synthesis, one on the conceptual level, one on the ... Show more

According to this, the concept of incentives as economic incentives should be softened if we want
to understand its link to culture.

There are various types of incentives, not only material also intangible and expressive incentives
(cite[195]{leighley1995attitudes}). This may lead to ambiguous responses if they interact with
subjective feelings and desires.
Hence, if the model includes non material incentives like esteem or expressing one s identity, the
relationship between culture and economic incentives becomes a much closer one to analyse.

Expressive incentives have a theoretical significance, which shows that the rational choice
understanding of the human nature is incomplete (cite[195 197]{leighley1995attitudes}).
Behaviour in groups or societies is more complex. Norms condition decision making in groups.
Nonetheless, in addition to these cultural factors, the personal motivations and incentives for a
certain behaviour within societies need to be considered (cite[12]{laffont2009theory}). My aim is
that if we synthesise rational choice and cultural perspectives, more phenomena become explainable
without completely abandoning rational choice assumptions.

For example, citeauthor{chong2000rational} (citeyear{chong2000rational}) models a rational
choice theory of agency, synthesised with cultural and psychological factors, material and non
material incentives

The Purpose Of Beauty Pageants
Approximately, 2.5 million women participate in US beauty pageants each year. The pageants are
supposedly meant to act as a stage for female contestants, to promote community service and gain
scholarships are often affiliated with objectification. I clearly disagree with the whole idea and
believe that the sole purpose of beauty pageants is female exhibitionism. The trend of these started

flourished into a business attracting businesses; acting as an economic driver.

Espionage In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold By Gabriel...
Espionage has always been a crucial part of any war s success. It is vital to know what the
enemy is planning to do and when they plan to execute their plans. This vital need has always
caused the need for spies to conduct the espionage on enemies. However, the information that the
spies collected was only as valuable as the amount of trust placed on a spy. A spy can gather
information on enemies plans and report back to their boss, but if the boss does not trust the spy it
could cause vital information to go unnoticed or not receive the proper urgency. These doubts
about notes and letters are not limited to spymasters alone, many everyday citizens rely on the
letters and notes of others. In his novel Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Gabriel GarcГa MГЎrquez

Arguments For Scottish Independence
On September 18th, 2014 the people of Scotland voted to stay within the United Kingdom by a
55.5% vote of the 84.6% turnout (Scotland s Future, 2013). Although a large turnout by voting
standards, the marginal lead of the winning vote was slim. A main argument for Scottish
independence was to keep tax, economic, and social security decisions in the hands of the people
whom it affected, the Scottish people themselves; rather than the Westminster Government who

Some voters did not understand where Parliament would get their funding, they had distrust in
the First Minister s argument, and their own risk assessment on whether it was worth it or not.
The main consensus for their reason of voting No was that they were united together 300 years
previously and should stay united. There was also a lack of understanding in the reasons for
independence. The demographics of the vote showed that millennials of the sixteen to
seventeen age range voted for the independence of Scotland, 71%. The voting in ages between
eighteen and fifty four was almost a fifty fifty split in the demographic ranges. However when it
came to the age group of sixty five and older, a large 73% voted No. Scottish born residents weren t
the only ones allowed to vote. Anyone who resided in Scotland over the age of sixteen was
allowed to vote, which is where approximately 400,000 votes from people of England, Wales, and
Northern Ireland came from. The almost 800,000 Scottish people who lived in the United Kingdom
but not in Scotland however, did not get to vote on the issue of independence in 2014 (Black Q A

Sacagawea s Impact On The Lewis And Clark Expedition
Sacagawea s help on the Lewis and Clark Expedition Makes it a Success All across America
people know the name of Sacagawea, the Indian interpreter for the Lewis and Clark expedition.
Sacagawea was known for being the only woman on the expedition, but many people may not
know all the reasons as to how she survived being the only woman. She became strong through all
of the events that happened to her. Sacagawea, the only woman on the Lewis and Clark expedition,
survived because of events that happened to her at a young age and because of her good
interpreting skills. Sacagawea, also known as Bird woman, was the daughter of a Shoshonechief( A
Fine Boy ). Sacagawea s tribe, the Shoshone, was a very poor tribe(Patrick, Mcgrath). She was
born in either 1788 or in 1789(Patrick, Mcgrath). Sacagawea was captured by the Hidatsa
Indians at the young age of 12 and she was also raised by them( A Fine Boy ). Because she was
the daughter of an Indian tribe, she made the expedition a success and was able to accompany
Lewis and Clark on their return back to their own country(Fisher,Doris,pg 14). The expedition may
not have been a success without the courage and the knowledge of Sacagawea(Kelly, Stephanie,p

porcupine, and the coyote. They also got rewarded some land in the end. Clark was offered 1,000
acres by Congress and Lewis was offered 1,600 acres. Lewis refused because he said that he had
promised Clark that they would get an equal amount of reward. So after Lewis made this

Censorship Of The United States
Jeffrey Corpstein
English 270
Research paper
Censorship
This paper will cover censorship in film with its main focus in the United States. It will cover the
progress of film censorship and how it has varied throughout the country as well as state to state.
The reader will discover how film censorship has changed with society and can be a resemblance
of society at a certain point in time. Important cases and lawsuits will be covered as well, enabling
the reader to understand why and how certain laws were created and questioned.
The first acknowledgment of regulating film arrived in 1896 after Thomas Edison s landmark
film, The Kiss. Critics of this film saw it as a threat to morality, thus raising questions on what
should or should not be shown to the public. Shortly after concern over The Kiss, the first statute
in movie censorship was enacted. The State of Maine implemented the statute in order to prevent
the exhibition prizefight of the 1897 heavyweight championship between James Corbett and Bob
Fitzsimmons. This opened the door for other organizations and states to regulate on their own
terms. Although most scholars regard the 1907 ordinance of the City of Chicago as the first act of
censorship in the United States, but as state above, the prevention of prizefighting in Maine is now
regarded as the first act of censorship. Nevertheless, the 1907 ordinance of the City of Chicago
was groundbreaking for film censorship. This ordinance made it illegal to show any

Lab Report On The Effect Of Substrate Concentration On...
Introduction
The purpose of this lab report is to investigate the effect of substrate concentration on enzyme
activity as tested with the enzyme catalase and the substrate hydrogen peroxide at several
concentrations to produce oxygen. It was assumed that an increase in hydrogen peroxide
concentration would decrease the amount of time the paper circle with the enzyme catalase present
on it, sowing an increase in enzyme activity. Therefore it can be hypothesised that there would be
an effect on catalase activity from the increase in hydrogen peroxide concentration measured in time
for the paper circle to ride to the top of the solution.
Enzymes are natural catalysts that work from the ability to increase the rate of reaction by
decreasing the activation energy of a reaction. (Blanco, Blanco 2017) An enzyme can do this
10^8 to 10^10 fold, sometimes even 10^15 fold. (Malacinsk, Freifelder 1998) The substrate will
momentarily bind with the enzyme making the enzyme substrate complex, of which the shape of
the substrate is complimentary to the shape of the active site on the enzyme it is binding with.
There are two main theories as to how an enzymes and substrates interact, the lock and key model
and induced fit theory. The lock and key model suggests that the enzyme has a specific shape that
fits the substrate and only that substrate. The induced fit theory says the active site and substrate
are able to change shape or distort for the reaction to take place with (Cooper,

Total Rewards
Running head: TOTAL REWARDS
Total Rewards: Strategically Achieving Business Results
Strayer University
Abstract
Total Rewards reflects what employees value from its employer. It focuses on five elements that
attract, motivate, and retain the talent to achieve business goals. These elements are:
Compensation, Benefits, Work Life, Performance and Recognition and Development and Career
Opportunities (WorldatWork, 2007, p. 4). This paper describes the five advantages of a total
rewards approach, five ways a total rewards strategy can go astray, six steps involved in the design
of a total rewards program and eight steps involved in the communication process of a total reward
program (WorldatWork, 2007, p. 15 64). Finally, the paper... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The organization must look at the current rewards, and assess the rewards mix and its
effectiveness (WorldatWork, 2007, p. 28). Next step is establishing a total reward strategy that
links to the organizational goals, culture, and change efforts (WorldatWork, 2007, p. 32). Once the
strategy has been identified, developing an effective rewards strategy requires determining the
purpose and scope of the program, eligibility of individuals in specifics aspects of the program, a
baseline for measurement and goals, funding for the program, selection and structure of the plan
and the timeline for implementation (WorldatWork, 2007, p. 35). After plan development, the
action begins implementation. This involves obtaining management approval, forming an
implementation team and conducting pilot test of the plan, before communicating to the entire
organization (WorldatWork, 2007, p. 39 40). Once the plan is implemented, communication begins
by educating employees on the plan and showing how it links to the overall business strategy. This
step helps set the plan expectations and aids in the employee understanding of a total rewards
package. The information allows employees to make better career choices and confirms the
organization s commitment, which builds trust and loyalty (WorldatWork, 2007, p. 40). Evaluation
and revision is the final step of the process.

Hidden Gender Roles
In the novel Hidden Figures, the characters face many challenges do to their race and gender. In
the early to mid nineteen hundreds, Women working was quite unconventional exceptional if
they were African American. Therefore when NACA and Langley decided to start hiring African
women, as the United States was midst a war, it was a step into greater equality. Similar to these
ideas, the play A Streetcar Named Desire deals with the ideas of women equality and the
dominance men have on them. The themes of these novels are fairly alike however they are also
extremely different. The theme of Hidden Figures is the problems of race and genderand the
inequalities the characters face, comparably A Streetcar Named Desire, faces the theme of women s
oppression.
In Hidden Figures the theme of the book is the theme of the time period in the United States at
that time, which is the suppression of people do to their race and gender. This was still relevant
during the beginning of the war. Even though Langley and NACA were hiring African women
they still were segregating them and giving them unequal treatment and pay. Mary Jackson is
extremely talented but however because of her race and gender she is constantly looked over. This
injustice to women shown in the book just represents how unequal the world once was. No matter
how smart a women was Most of the country s top engineering schools didn t accept women....
Being an engineer, Mary Jackson would eventually learn, meant being the only black person, or the
only woman, or both, at industry conferences for years. (Shetterly 144). Even with the lack of
opportunity that was presented for the main characters they were able
Moylan 2 to overcome. The African women at NASA had to work extremely hard just to be
recognized but even then it was not always enough. It takes the characters a while to realize that
they are right and no matter what they do they will look wrong. They came to this conclusion due
to all the segregation and being told they can not because they are not men. In the beginning the
characters all wanted to be something everyone told them they could not be, however, unlike other
women they kept pushing. The more people tell them no the more they want it.

Book Review over Washington s Spies Essay
The Truth About Washington s Spies
Madeline Carlson America s first spy ring, better known as the Cupler ring, was Washington s
carefully thought out solution to gain intelligence on the overpowering British troops. The
revolution was happening; there was no turning back and no denying that America was going to
gain independence from Great Britain. Washington needed a plan, a way to foresee what the
British planned to do next. Washington s only solution was to resort to spying. Washington
desperately needed to gain intelligence of General William Howe s next plan of attack, however
there were few who wanted to risk partaking in such a dishonorable task as spying. Hale was the
first, and most well known, of the many spies to scout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The tales show anything from the exciting tales of close encounters to the invisible ink and coded
messages to the life of deception Washington s spies embraced. Rose not only reveals the exciting
tales of danger, but also shows how the deceptive spies and Washington gained mutual trust through
the difficult situations.
Rose s thesis statement declared how honor affected the spies who were a part of the Culper ring.
He first mentioned honor in the first chapter, quoting Nathan Hale, Spying, he agreed, was not an
honorable undertaking, but if the exigencies of my country demand a peculiar service its claims
to perform that service are imperious. The spying game was not considered gentlemen s work, for
the title spy was dishonorable in itself. Throughout the book, Rose proved his thesis by
mentioning how it affected each of the members described in his book along with some internal
conflict they had about it. Rose concluded the book with an epilogue sharing how each of the spies
lived their lives after the war was over, and how many could return to their normal lives without the
criticism of partaking in Washington s dishonorable tasks.
Rose s tales evaluated how the individuals themselves, in a way, altered history. Each individual in
the Culper ring motivated history and altered what could have been in some way. Whether Nathan
Hale s death made him a revolutionary hero, or Benjamin Tallmadge s idea of the Culper ring each

Book Report On The Book The Night
Today is September 1st, 1939 in Holland. Right now I m going to be writing a book, it is going to
be really good. I wish it would be published so that lots of people could read it and enjoy it. Once I
m finished with my book I will lend a copy to my good friends the Franks. The Franks are, Otto
Frank, Edith Frank, Margot Frank, and Anne Frank. So it s 1:00 in the afternoon and while I was in
the middle of writing my book I was interrupted by a loud, BANG! Then there were even more
loud noises and I started to think that they were gunshots, so I looked at my window and i saw a
Jew laying on the ground dead and next to him was a Nazi with a rifle. I quickly ran over to the
Frank s House to see if they heard the shots and they did. Every single one of us started
wondering why they would kill Jews. We knew it was because of Adolf Hitler, he is in control of
the Nazis. Everyday now for the past week there has been at least one killing of a Jew. I started
to think that we were going to be in a war with the Germans. The next day seven Jews were shot
and killed and lots of people were being taken to a place called Concentration Camps. It is a
horrible place, they hardly feed you, it is just a complete disaster. The Franks are going into this
hideout called the Secret Annex, the Secret Annex is hidden in Otto Franks business place. The
Secret Annex entrance is covered by a moving bookshelf. Also I have to take care of my family
too, my son and my husband. So everyday someone has

and their energetic companies, who are flocking to WEBward Avenue to help create it. (Dan
Gilbert, Founder and Chairman of Quicken Loans). This is the company I chose to present my

Evolution Of The Initial Entry Training Essay
The evolution of the Initial Entry Trainer dates back to the early 1960s, when the drill sergeants
(DS) were introduced into the training force. The DS have continued to be the key factor to
instilling discipline and standards in our new Soldiers. Over time, the Army has evaluated and
made changes to the programs to ensure the best possible training is available for new recruits.
The introduction of the advanced individual training (AIT) platoon sergeants was one of the
most recent changes to the initial entry training (IET) program. The Army will continue to
evaluate and assess the IET training program to assure training is still relevant to the needs of
the Army. Late in 1962, Secretary of the Army Elvis J. Stahr Jr. directed Under Secretary of the
Army Stephen Ailes to survey how the recruits are trained in the Army. The research was pooled
from a wide variety of personnel and took a very longtime. This research also included other
branches of service, comparing techniques and strategies to ensure they had the most accurate data
available. The survey findings concluded the noncommissioned officers (NCOs) were poorly
regarded working long hours, lack of free time for family concerns, and inadequate staffing. The
survey also concluded that the caliber of NCOs that were selected were below the standard
required by other services. (unknown, n.d.) The next year the Army began pilot courses at Fort
Jackson, South Carolina testing the revised methods of

How Does Steinbeck Create Tension in of Mice and Men in...
The tension that Steinbeck creates in chapter six is very prominent; there are moments of peace
and moments of despair. The first case in which Steinbeck creates tension is at the very beginning
of the first chapter where the reader can hear peace. It is only after reading chapter six that the
reader on hindsight can compare the peacefulness in the first chapter to the tension in the last
chapter, this creates tension as the readeris now well aware that one of Steinbeck s narrative
techniques is that the movement goes from harmony to discord. Steinbeck also uses pathetic
fallacy, figurative and colloquial language to build the tension in the readers mind.
The tension in chapter six rises when the reader finds out that the setting in the ... Show more

Another way in which Steinbeck uses strong verbs and adjectives is in the phrase jacked its way
clear of the water which implies force; ironically a heron is a very delicate bird, whereas these
incident show violence. These short simple sentences complement the absurdity of the event, which
quickly builds the momentum of tension in chapter six.
Tension is also built when the reader finds out how opposite things are happening to Lennie. His
clumsy body language signals the tension to the reader. Steinbeck uses words like quietly to
make the reader think that it is as though he knows he has done something wrong. Lennies body
language can be shown through the way he drinks the water as he kneels down in chapter six,
instead of drinking like a horse in chapter one. We find this to be very different to the Lennie we
met in chapter one. As Lennie is trying to process the problem we can assume that he feels guilty
for what he has done.
Tension in the novel again rises when there is a conversation between Lennie, his aunt Clara and a
gigantic rabbit . Let alone everything we see to show the workings of Lennies mind, we can still
tell that his mind is childlike if he is having imagery of a gigantic talking rabbit . The hallucinations
that Lennie has shows that his mind is slowly breaking making the atmosphere more tense.
Steinbeck very intelligently shows the dying of day through the lengthening shadows and that
darkness is taking over. By

Electronic Health Record System Is No Exemption
Nothing is without any negative effect. Similarly the electronic patient record system is no
exemption. The critics have raised an important question of the benefits of the electronic health
record system towards both the health care and physicians. The critics have argued that though this
electronic health record system can help in saving money, but on the other hand it may not be a
financially benefit to the physicians who opt to buy the system. The price tags for electronic health
recordsystem vary and depend largely on what is included and how vigorous it is.

Therefore the debate on benefits versus cost of the EHR coming from the adopted technology is
highly controversial. Consequently the high price of the EHR system provides huge uncertainty
about the benefits that can be obtained after implementation of this system in terms of return on the
investments (www...1). Thereby influencing the adoption of this system to a great extent.
A survey conducted has pointed out that the physicians and the administrators, who are found to be
adopting the EHR system, have highlighted that the benefits in the efficiency were counterbalanced
by the reduction in the productivity (www...1). Above all the need to grow the staff in the
information technology department to maintain and support the system has also offset the benefits
gained from it.
Arguably the hospitals in Karachi have argued to a large extent that the cost saving achieved by the
implementation of the EHR system may not be gained in small physicians clinic as it is believed
that the cost lowering benefit may only occur in large extensive integrated organizations.
Arguably this EHR system can prove to be a financial burden in the small physicians clinic if they
adopt this system (Ackerman, 2011). Although it is widely accepted that the development and
implementation of the electronic health record could lower the cost to a significant level at large
integrated setups and eventually this cost saving could ignore the cost, however still a large number

Katherine Mansfield s Mrs. Brill
When reading Miss Brill written by Katherine Mansfield. The story starts off in the perspective
of Mrs. Brill a elderly lady wearing a fur coat. This is when the story starts to progress, Mrs. Brill
decides to wear her fur coat to the public garden. She then proceeds to sit in the garden on a
bench and observe the various foot traffic. She would sit and observe and listen to the peoples
conversation without them noticing her ease dropping. The garden was quite busy that day due
to the band that usually plays there playing so beautifully. An elderly couple come and sit by
Mrs. Brill on the bench, they were not interesting to Mrs. Brill. Mrs. Brill started to notice that the

Brill is a average story but it means a lot more than the words tell and about the way people
effect others without even knowing it. The beginning of the story starts off pretty slow but then
picks up towards the middle. I was growing a little weary of the immense detail throughout the
story. When Mrs. Brill was making snap judgements about the other characters I started to
dislike her more and more. I still remained to like Mrs. Brill although the author makes it
difficult felt her presence was hindering their mood. But in all reality Mrs. Brill was just sitting
in a public area and happened to make the girl feel uncomfortable, while the young couple
instead of just moving places responded in a ill manner ruining the rest of her day. Over all I
find the story mediocre but with a good moral and ethical agenda.to like her because of all her
faults. Towards the end of the story I feel that the author got the most influential part of the story,
how the last set of teenagers are boysterious towards Mrs. Brill for the fact that they picked up on
the idea that she was observing them and that

This option is not without it s risks such as the higher production costs in Australia over other Toyota

  • 2. Essay On Mass Customization Chapter 7: Mass customization of products has become a common approach in manufacturing organizations. Explain the ways in which mass customization can be applied to service firms as well. While mass customization is a viable option in manufacturing with digital factories and employing lean manufacturing designs, service firms have to employ a more productive environment to make mass customization profitable. Mass customization refers to using mass production technologies to quickly and cost effectively assemble goods that are uniquely designed to fit the demands of individual customers (Daft, 2016, p. 271). The key challenge for service mass customization is to translate information about consumer preferences gained through market research into a format that can be easily used for service modularization decisions and customer contact personnel training (Haas Kunz, n.d., p. 603). In the service arena, mass customization becomes an ongoing configuration process with direct involvement of the customer coupled with professional advice by service personnel who understand the configuration rules and know them by heart. A clear understanding of the customer s needs is required, as well as a requirement by service personnel to provide the customer clear and concise configuration options that strike the perfect balance between flexibility and complexity. Also, a continuous interaction between frontline contact personnel and the customer is a consequence that must be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Study in Airline Industry Changgull Song Fordham University, Deming Scholars MBA, changgull@gmail.com For managers of airlines, it is not always easy to predict the jet fuel costs, which affect the profitability of the firm. As a solution, some airlines aggressively hedge against the variability, but some others don t. Here, we are trying to find an answer to a question, How much should they hedge? Variability in Earnings: Is it Bad? In a management world, it is a common knowledge that variability harms the efficiency. For example, a combination of variability in lead time of raw materials will make the firm harder to meet the manufacturing lead time, and eventually harm the ... Among the six airlines studied, Southwest was the only airline that maintained aggressive long term fuel hedging plan. Southwest Airline s Jet Fuel Costs to Operation Expenses Before and After Hedge Gain (EDGAR SEC Filngs, 2006) Southwest s gain from hedges is large enough to compare with its operation income. As shown in Table 1, from 2004 to 2006, it will not be an exaggeration to say the most (or even more) of its operating income came from hedge gain. How was it possible? Or, why other airlines that hedged part of their jet fuel costs could not result in similar results? Table 1. It is very important to ensure that the results based monitoring system is based on the results model. • 5. Women Are Over Sexualised In The Music Industry Essay Discussion To find out whether people believe that women are being commodified in the music industry or not I created a questionnaire. I asked an equal amount of men and women to get an even opinion from both genders. The questionnaire had five questions that were: 1.What is your gender? 2.What would you prefer in a music video? 3.When watching a music video, what do you focus on more? 4.Do you think women are over sexualised in the music industry? 5.Do you think men are over sexualised in the music industry? From conducting the questionnaire I can conclude that 95% of the people I asked believed that women were being oversexualised. When watching a music video they focused more on the song and choreography, than how attractive the people in the music video were. The results from the questionnaire suggest that most people aren t superficial when it comes to the music industry, however my research ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. The Song Of Roland Analysis Hatred and Wealth Many readers of The Song of Roland find that the hatred and belittling of Roland and Ganelon is very evident but is not really explained why they hate each other. It is easily seen they have a relationship as step father and step son that can be quite full of altercations in most cases yet, Roland is still not letting friends such as Oliver talk about Ganelon even when they have noticed being set up for death. The scholar T. Atkinson Jenkins has looked into reasons for the hatred and treason that occur in the journal Why Did Ganelon Hate Roland? Jenkins provides many options to Ganelon s hatred for Roland. To me the most illuminating thing is the way hatred mostly likely was built on wealth, and today many people find the same reasons to be jealous and even hate others. Throughout the Jenkins essay he uses the Ganelon prosecution which was not read in class, but can be summarized best as Ganelon revoking being a traitor, and stating, It was Roland who cheated me of gold and goods; and so I made him suffer and die... (Unknown 1310). His fellow kinsmen asked king Charlemagne to set Ganelon free and Charlemagne is distraught by their words and calls all the men traitors (1311). Jenkins finds most every account of Ganelon and Roland participating in name calling, and crazily in the passage no one seems to pay any attention to the disgrace. Throughout the essay Jenkins finds quotes such as my poor imitation of a father (120) from using words such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A conspiracy theory is an explanation of an event or situation that invokes a conspiracy without warrant. Conspiracy theories generally involve an illegal or harmful act carried out by the government or other powerful actors. The Moonlanding is still one of the biggest conspiracy theories in the world. After forty eight years it is still being debated and discussed in many laboratories, and classrooms across the globe. On July 20, 1969, two American astronauts by the name of Neil Armstrong, and Buzz Aldrin allegedly, landed safely on the moon. Some people have reason to believe that the dark interior of the space shuttle looked like the darkness of space, and the circular window gave the circular shape of the earth. The film also states that one of the astronauts used a crescent shape to alter the shape of the earth as they drifted farther into space. The consistency of the video was also at question. The film shows decent quality color video inside of the spaceship, but the film on the moon was black and white. Many conspiracy theorists claim that the video footage was leaked from NASA by accident. When the video footage was leaked conspiracy theorist dissected the footage and made a hypothesis of how the footage was produced. NASA says that every theory is false and they stand behind their statements firm. What motivated the moon landing? The moon landing was highly motivated by the space race between the United States, and the Soviet Union. The space race caused a very tense tone in each country, as they both were trying to be the first to make it into space. The Soviet Union made the first milestone by launching Sputnik into the earth s orbit on October 4, 1957. Sputnik was the world s first manmade satellite to make it into outer space. Financial issues play a major role in whether or not women are screened or vaccinated for cervical cancer. The ACS (2010) reported that uninsured women are less likely to acquire screenings or vaccines. However, many states tried to solve the financial problem by ensuring that private insurance companies, Medicaid, and public employee health plans will provide coverage and reimbursement for Pap smear screening tests. The ACS supported such coverage assurances because they removed financial barriers for women who have health insurance, but whose insurance plans previously did not cover Pap smears (ACS, 2010). The lack of awareness about cervical cancer is another contributing factor besides financial concerns. According to the National Cancer Institute (NCI), women with low ... • 9. Effects Of Greed In Tao Te Chini Across many texts, greed is a recurrent theme because its evil nature wreaks havoc in people s lives. Further, greed causes many other sins such as lust, adultery, envy and theft. Acts such as these lead people away from their moral compass and into a life of calamity and dissatisfaction. Greed is often a well that is never filled and as humans are too weak to withstand their temptations, they go to great lengths to try to quench their thirst. A compilation of Chinese poems titled Tao Te Chingwritten by Laozi, illuminate how greed is a precipitate to things that go awry in life. As seen through the scope of the Tao Te Ching, various events from the ancient Indian epic poem by Valmiki, The Ramayana, as well as the Middle Eastern folk tales, The Thousand and One Nights, showcase characters that struggle to cope with their greed. This paper will argue that greed is the source of all evil because it blinds the sense of judgement and proportion leading people to take immoral actions. It will conclude that redemption can only be found through self realization and selflessness. The Tao Te Ching focuses on the effects of greed and how it compromises people s lives. There are different types of greed such as materialism and lust. They are desires for property and the body which neither of the two is good in excess. Laozi further explains what greed brings to life by stating, Free from desire, you realize the mystery. Caught in desire, you are only the manifestations (Mitchell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Outsiders was outrageously popular, and the major success enabled Hinton to attend the University of Tulsa, where she would meet her future husband, David Inhofe, and earn a degree in education. She wasn t going to stop with just one work, the strong will to write always clung to her like a crying child to it s mother. At one point in her life, she suffered from a condition called writer s block, that generally has to do with losing the ability to write, or be slow with creativity prohibiting the author to create new works. After the fact, her next book would be named This Was Then, This is now , which would be published in 1971 and also soon get recognized as a classic novel by Susan. The book is about two foster brothers that get torn apart as one gets more engulfed by school and girlfriends, as the other moves deeper into a life of crime and substance abuse. • 11. Social Contract Theory On The Origin Of State SOCIAL CONTRACT THEORY 1. INTRODUCTION: The social contract theory is one of the oldest theories on the origin of state. This theory came into existence as a reaction against the divine origin theory. The term social is something which is connected with the society, while contract means an agreement between two or more people. Thus a term of political theory, social contract implies an agreement that makes society possible .this theory holds that the state is the voluntary and deliberate agreement on the part of the people those who emerged from the state of nature, in order to form a state based on a contract between the people and the sovereign and is not made by the god and thus implies that the state is a man`s deliberate creation to serve his needs. The core idea behind this theory is an assumption that there was a period in human history, when there was no state at all and no political law existed. The idea that the power to the ruler is given based on some kind of agreement between him and his subjects is quite old. The social contract theory envisages a state of nature where there were no organised government and rulers. There were no man made laws and no authority to govern the people .the state of nature was prepolitical the idea of social contract divides the state into two phases, i.e. one is the state of nature which was the life of the people before the state came into existence and second is the creation of the state as a result of the contract entered ... • 12. George Washington The Indispensable Man Analysis George Washington is a towering historical figure who is considered the father of the United States. James Thomas Flexner captures the man, not the myth, behind this legendary icon in one concise single volume biography, Washington: the Indispensable Man. This book is a condensed but altogether new version of Flexner s previous four volume biography of George Washington. This smaller scale book is well written, and explores Washingtonas the human being behind the legendary icon (New York Times Book Review) to bring the reader to a closer relation to a man removed by time and history. Of time and history, GeorgeWashington had a great deal more of it which Flexner had to cover. Washington was a major national figure for twenty four years from his election as Commander in Chief to his death, and he was hardly twenty when his role in the French and Indian War made him internationally known. The wide ranging subject of Washington must have been difficult to fit into one encapsulated volume, but Flexner manages not only to do that but also writes straightforward in thought with flowing ideas and logical conclusions. The first chapter, of course, starts from George s Birth and tells of his childhood of growing admiration for the wilds of the frontier and the British Army. A little later, the book moves forward to Washington s first military blunder in inciting the French and Indian War which makes the name George Washington internationally known. These factories have gained media attention and controversy for the long hours and low pay given to the workers. Many people say to boycott these factories because of the latter reasons, but consumers shouldn t boycott companies that make sweatshopproducts. The first reason consumers shouldn t boycott these products would be people actually deliberately take these jobs because in developing countries most jobs don t pay that much. The second reason consumers shouldn t boycott sweatshop products would be that it allows a lot of people in the developing worlds to rise out of poverty. Another main point of their argument is that conditions in these factories are abusive and horrible. However, again many people take these jobs willingly meaning that they really don t care about these conditions because they need money. Finally they believe that boycotting sweatshops will do something good for the world. Analyzing Seamus Heaney s Blackberry-Picking The poem Blackberry Picking is about a young man s coming of age, and how the lesson he learns, about picking blackberries, relates to the human realization that reality is not always how we want it to be. Seamus Heaney illustrates this lesson by showing the narrator s unabiding desire for the blackberries when he speaks of the lust for picking and how he was willing to go out in the fields to pick the blackberries despite having to go where briars scratched and wet grass bleached our boots in obvious discomfort (7 8,10). The first thing that is noticeable about the way Seamus wrote this poem is his use of rhyme or lack thereof. He uses slant rhymes throughout most of the poem an example being sun and ripen on lines one and two. This could be interpreted to portray how the speaker feels. The speaker wants the blackberries to stay sweet despite his experience picking blackberries that would always end up rotting. At the same time, the slant rhymes are so close to rhyming, but never fully do creating a bittersweet feeling that symbolizes how the speaker loves the blackberries, but how he hates how they rot. In the text this is reinforced when he says, I always felt like crying. It wasn t fair (22). Another example of Seamus creating this bittersweet tone in the poem is how he uses iambic pentameter throughout most of the poem, but similar to how the slant rhymes don t quite work, on every couple of lines he breaks the meter and adds an extra syllable. This feeling is continued throughout the poem until the second stanza when Seamus starts to correct these things. He does this by starting to write in true iambic pentameter except for one time on line 21 when sour adds two extra syllables sustaining the rhythm he built up, but still adding emphasis to the word sour. Seamus connects the bitter sweet or sour tone to a line that is out of place. Eventually, the poem is exactly what it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Earth s climate is highly dependent on the atmospheric radiative balance. However the atmosphere itself is dependent on the solar radiation input and output, clouds, the abundance and distribution of trace gases and aerosols. Aerosols are the globally distributed specks of matter that can be described based on their shape, size and chemical composition. Despite their relatively small size these globally distributed specks or particles when found in the atmosphere have the ability to strongly influence both the transfer of radiation energy and special distribution of latent heating thus influencing the weather and climate. Aerosol particles originate from a wide variety of natural and anthropogenic sources. Aerosols can be grouped into primary and secondary particles. The primary particles are directly released from sources such as the incomplete combustion, volcanic eruption, human activities and wind driven suspension of soil, dust, sea salt and biological material. While the secondary particles form within the atmosphere by interaction of the already existing particles. Depending on their density aerosols have a potential to reach as far as the stratosphere where majority of the ozone is found. Thomas Wyatt, along with four others accused of being romantically linked to the queen, were imprisoned. It was widely believed that Wyatt was indeed her lover. Another lyricist, Mark Smeaton, was among the accused in the same year so this suggests that the queen had a circle of lyrists close enough to her to make a king claim that her intimacy with these men was sexual (Burrows). However, Wyatt was released shortly after while the other accused lovers along with the queen were executed. Anne s death and his imprisonment are said to have changed him. Causes Of Overgeneralization In Canada Aboriginal people have long rich history in Canada, but with this history they have dealt with an abundant amount of injustice, they have been constantly been overgeneralized in the Canadian system of justice leading Aboriginal people to a circle of disadvantage involving poverty and inequality, to employment barriers, health care matters, and education matters as well. Explicit procedures were deliberated to help break this cycle specific methods were put in place. Hence, Aboriginal people have faced in equality in many different forms in the criminal justice. For instance Aboriginal people experience higher victimization their annual statistics comes to an average of 40 percent when for non Aboriginal people it is at 28 percent. Leading to higher incarceration rates of Aboriginal incarceration rate at 1,300 per 100,000 which is about ten times more than Canadians (140 per 100,000 adults). So leading causes of overgeneralization of Aboriginal people like this not only because of systematic discrimination by biases in police officers work or the criminal justice system it is also due to things like socio economic marginality, and colonial experience they have experienced. Another group that struggles with this issue that Aboriginal people faced of overgeneralization is African Americans. • 30. Division Of Labor In Emile Durkheim, Adam Smith And Karl Marx The division of labor is the process through which community members perform specialized types of work with a common objective. This has received significant theoretical discussions based on social thoughts from the theories of Emile Durkheim, Adam Smith and Karl Marx. Throughout human history, the division of labor has been present from the cultural perspective in its most essential form. Division of labor was mainly based on gender such as the case of hunter gather societies. In this case, while women gathered food and took care of their children, men hunted for game meat. This paper will discuss several theorists developed to define the concept of division of labor. According to Muldoon (2013), increasing levels of specialization also lead to lack of enthusiasm among workers in addition to reduced overall skills in their work. This perspective was refined and extended by Karl Marx who was a popular economic theorist. However, Karl Marx labeled this process as alienation, where workers were turned to be more specific individuals coupled with work repetitious eventually becoming completely alienated (Calhoun 2012). In fact, Marx indicated that such division of labor among workers was physically and emotionally depressing and compared it to a machine s condition. In this regard, he was guided by the firm belief that the fullness of production was a prerequisite to the process of attaining liberation in human beings and accepted the notion of a strict division of labor as a necessary evil that was only temporary. However, the most important theoretical contribution that Marx made towards the concept of an economy, was his sharp distinction between the economic or technical division and social division of labor (Muldoon 2013). That indicated that some form of co operation in employment was as a result of technical necessities. However, some evidence suggested that others resulted due to the functions of social control that is related to the concepts of status and class hierarchy (Calhoun 2012). If individuals conflated these two roles, it often appears as though the existing labor division is technically immutable and inevitable as opposed to the notion of an influenced or constructed by power relationships. ... Gilgamesh was the king of Uruk, instead of creating the reputation of a kind, considerate, generous king, he decided to slay a tremendous monster and tried to impress others instead. It s the most common mistake that we humans always make. We tend to be so busy impressing others and striving for their cheers with such frequency, that we forget to be ourselves and think before we act.We often feel self conscious and inferior to ourselves after we experience failure, which we fail to tolerate. Impressing others and having the ought to be seen in a positive perspective is what makes us compete against one another which might not always be morally right. Sometimes it s better to be the best together rather than ruining relationships due to the consequence of proving to the world that you re finessed. • 34. Relationship Between Culture And Economic Incentives In the following, I will argue that in order to understand change we need a concrete understanding of the relationship between culture and economic incentives, not a set primacy of one over the other. Change should ideally be explained by a synthesis in which both culture and economic incentives are taken into account. It is not only about stating that there is a relationship but also about analysing how that relationship works in terms of mechanisms. section{Synthesis in an Ontologically Divided Field?} In this section, I will develop the scope for synthesis regarding culture and economic incentives in a political economic analysis of change. According to this, the concept of incentives as economic incentives should be softened if we want to understand its link to culture. There are various types of incentives, not only material also intangible and expressive incentives (cite[195]{leighley1995attitudes}). This may lead to ambiguous responses if they interact with subjective feelings and desires. Hence, if the model includes non material incentives like esteem or expressing one s identity, the relationship between culture and economic incentives becomes a much closer one to analyse. Expressive incentives have a theoretical significance, which shows that the rational choice understanding of the human nature is incomplete (cite[195 197]{leighley1995attitudes}). Behaviour in groups or societies is more complex. Norms condition decision making in groups. Nonetheless, in addition to these cultural factors, the personal motivations and incentives for a certain behaviour within societies need to be considered (cite[12]{laffont2009theory}). However, the information that the spies collected was only as valuable as the amount of trust placed on a spy. A spy can gather information on enemies plans and report back to their boss, but if the boss does not trust the spy it could cause vital information to go unnoticed or not receive the proper urgency. Important cases and lawsuits will be covered as well, enabling the reader to understand why and how certain laws were created and questioned. The first acknowledgment of regulating film arrived in 1896 after Thomas Edison s landmark film, The Kiss. Critics of this film saw it as a threat to morality, thus raising questions on what should or should not be shown to the public. Shortly after concern over The Kiss, the first statute in movie censorship was enacted. The State of Maine implemented the statute in order to prevent the exhibition prizefight of the 1897 heavyweight championship between James Corbett and Bob Fitzsimmons. This opened the door for other organizations and states to regulate on their own terms. • 42. Lab Report On The Effect Of Substrate Concentration On... Introduction The purpose of this lab report is to investigate the effect of substrate concentration on enzyme activity as tested with the enzyme catalase and the substrate hydrogen peroxide at several concentrations to produce oxygen. It was assumed that an increase in hydrogen peroxide concentration would decrease the amount of time the paper circle with the enzyme catalase present on it, sowing an increase in enzyme activity. Therefore it can be hypothesised that there would be an effect on catalase activity from the increase in hydrogen peroxide concentration measured in time for the paper circle to ride to the top of the solution. Enzymes are natural catalysts that work from the ability to increase the rate of reaction by decreasing the activation energy of a reaction. (Blanco, Blanco 2017) An enzyme can do this 10^8 to 10^10 fold, sometimes even 10^15 fold. (Malacinsk, Freifelder 1998) The substrate will momentarily bind with the enzyme making the enzyme substrate complex, of which the shape of the substrate is complimentary to the shape of the active site on the enzyme it is binding with. There are two main theories as to how an enzymes and substrates interact, the lock and key model and induced fit theory. The lock and key model suggests that the enzyme has a specific shape that fits the substrate and only that substrate. The induced fit theory says the active site and substrate are able to change shape or distort for the reaction to take place with (Cooper, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Once the strategy has been identified, developing an effective rewards strategy requires determining the purpose and scope of the program, eligibility of individuals in specifics aspects of the program, a baseline for measurement and goals, funding for the program, selection and structure of the plan and the timeline for implementation (WorldatWork, 2007, p. 35). Rose concluded the book with an epilogue sharing how each of the spies lived their lives after the war was over, and how many could return to their normal lives without the criticism of partaking in Washington s dishonorable tasks. Rose s tales evaluated how the individuals themselves, in a way, altered history. Each individual in the Culper ring motivated history and altered what could have been in some way. • 48. Book Report On The Book The Night Today is September 1st, 1939 in Holland. Right now I m going to be writing a book, it is going to be really good. I wish it would be published so that lots of people could read it and enjoy it. Once I m finished with my book I will lend a copy to my good friends the Franks. The Franks are, Otto Frank, Edith Frank, Margot Frank, and Anne Frank. So it s 1:00 in the afternoon and while I was in the middle of writing my book I was interrupted by a loud, BANG! Then there were even more loud noises and I started to think that they were gunshots, so I looked at my window and i saw a Jew laying on the ground dead and next to him was a Nazi with a rifle. I quickly ran over to the Frank s House to see if they heard the shots and they did. Every single one of us started wondering why they would kill Jews. We knew it was because of Adolf Hitler, he is in control of the Nazis. Everyday now for the past week there has been at least one killing of a Jew. I started to think that we were going to be in a war with the Germans. The next day seven Jews were shot and killed and lots of people were being taken to a place called Concentration Camps. It is a horrible place, they hardly feed you, it is just a complete disaster. The Franks are going into this hideout called the Secret Annex, the Secret Annex is hidden in Otto Franks business place. The Secret Annex entrance is covered by a moving bookshelf. Also I have to take care of my family too, my son and my husband. So everyday someone has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. Evolution Of The Initial Entry Training Essay The evolution of the Initial Entry Trainer dates back to the early 1960s, when the drill sergeants (DS) were introduced into the training force. The DS have continued to be the key factor to instilling discipline and standards in our new Soldiers. Over time, the Army has evaluated and made changes to the programs to ensure the best possible training is available for new recruits. The introduction of the advanced individual training (AIT) platoon sergeants was one of the most recent changes to the initial entry training (IET) program. The Army will continue to evaluate and assess the IET training program to assure training is still relevant to the needs of the Army. Late in 1962, Secretary of the Army Elvis J. Stahr Jr. directed Under Secretary of the Army Stephen Ailes to survey how the recruits are trained in the Army. The research was pooled from a wide variety of personnel and took a very longtime. This research also included other branches of service, comparing techniques and strategies to ensure they had the most accurate data available. The survey findings concluded the noncommissioned officers (NCOs) were poorly regarded working long hours, lack of free time for family concerns, and inadequate staffing. The survey also concluded that the caliber of NCOs that were selected were below the standard required by other services. (unknown, n.d.) The next year the Army began pilot courses at Fort Jackson, South Carolina testing the revised methods of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. How Does Steinbeck Create Tension in of Mice and Men in... The tension that Steinbeck creates in chapter six is very prominent; there are moments of peace and moments of despair. The first case in which Steinbeck creates tension is at the very beginning of the first chapter where the reader can hear peace. It is only after reading chapter six that the reader on hindsight can compare the peacefulness in the first chapter to the tension in the last chapter, this creates tension as the readeris now well aware that one of Steinbeck s narrative techniques is that the movement goes from harmony to discord. Steinbeck also uses pathetic fallacy, figurative and colloquial language to build the tension in the readers mind. The tension in chapter six rises when the reader finds out that the setting in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another way in which Steinbeck uses strong verbs and adjectives is in the phrase jacked its way clear of the water which implies force; ironically a heron is a very delicate bird, whereas these incident show violence. These short simple sentences complement the absurdity of the event, which quickly builds the momentum of tension in chapter six. Tension is also built when the reader finds out how opposite things are happening to Lennie. His clumsy body language signals the tension to the reader. Steinbeck uses words like quietly to make the reader think that it is as though he knows he has done something wrong. Lennies body language can be shown through the way he drinks the water as he kneels down in chapter six, instead of drinking like a horse in chapter one. We find this to be very different to the Lennie we met in chapter one. As Lennie is trying to process the problem we can assume that he feels guilty for what he has done. Tension in the novel again rises when there is a conversation between Lennie, his aunt Clara and a gigantic rabbit . Let alone everything we see to show the workings of Lennies mind, we can still tell that his mind is childlike if he is having imagery of a gigantic talking rabbit . The hallucinations that Lennie has shows that his mind is slowly breaking making the atmosphere more tense. Steinbeck very intelligently shows the dying of day through the lengthening shadows and that darkness is taking over. By ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Electronic Health Record System Is No Exemption Nothing is without any negative effect. Similarly the electronic patient record system is no exemption. The critics have raised an important question of the benefits of the electronic health record system towards both the health care and physicians. The critics have argued that though this electronic health record system can help in saving money, but on the other hand it may not be a financially benefit to the physicians who opt to buy the system. The price tags for electronic health recordsystem vary and depend largely on what is included and how vigorous it is. Although it is believed that EHR system has made fast availability of data with much more accuracy and reliability, however on the other hand the physicians have argued upon the... Consequently the high price of the EHR system provides huge uncertainty about the benefits that can be obtained after implementation of this system in terms of return on the investments (www...1). Thereby influencing the adoption of this system to a great extent. A survey conducted has pointed out that the physicians and the administrators, who are found to be adopting the EHR system, have highlighted that the benefits in the efficiency were counterbalanced by the reduction in the productivity (www...1). Above all the need to grow the staff in the information technology department to maintain and support the system has also offset the benefits gained from it. Arguably the hospitals in Karachi have argued to a large extent that the cost saving achieved by the implementation of the EHR system may not be gained in small physicians clinic as it is believed that the cost lowering benefit may only occur in large extensive integrated organizations. Arguably this EHR system can prove to be a financial burden in the small physicians clinic if they adopt this system (Ackerman, 2011). Although it is widely accepted that the development and implementation of the electronic health record could lower the cost to a significant level at large integrated setups and eventually this cost saving could ignore the cost, however still a large number of the physicians ... • 53. Katherine Mansfield s Mrs. Brill When reading Miss Brill written by Katherine Mansfield. The story starts off in the perspective of Mrs. Brill a elderly lady wearing a fur coat. This is when the story starts to progress, Mrs. Brill decides to wear her fur coat to the public garden. She then proceeds to sit in the garden on a bench and observe the various foot traffic. She would sit and observe and listen to the peoples conversation without them noticing her ease dropping. The garden was quite busy that day due to the band that usually plays there playing so beautifully. An elderly couple come and sit by Mrs. Brill on the bench, they were not interesting to Mrs. Brill. Mrs. Brill started to notice that the people on Sundays were usually very odd, they looked very pale like they had been in a cupboard all week and only came out for fresh air. Two girls then walked by Mrs. Brill they were accompanied by two... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Brill is a average story but it means a lot more than the words tell and about the way people effect others without even knowing it. The beginning of the story starts off pretty slow but then picks up towards the middle. I was growing a little weary of the immense detail throughout the story. When Mrs. Brill was making snap judgements about the other characters I started to dislike her more and more. I still remained to like Mrs. Brill although the author makes it difficult felt her presence was hindering their mood. But in all reality Mrs. Brill was just sitting in a public area and happened to make the girl feel uncomfortable, while the young couple instead of just moving places responded in a ill manner ruining the rest of her day. Over all I find the story mediocre but with a good moral and ethical agenda.to like her because of all her faults. Towards the end of the story I feel that the author got the most influential part of the story, how the last set of teenagers are boysterious towards Mrs. Brill for the fact that they picked up on the idea that she was observing them and that ... The addition of a technology and R D strategy by expanding Australian operations to focus on hybrid and autonomous technologies provides opportunities to develop competitive advantage in the Australian market by providing Australian made vehicles. This option is not without it s risks such as the higher production costs in Australia over other Toyota plants in developing economies. In addition, the geographical remoteness of increasing shipping fees. Equipment and parts availability not to mention the overall market acceptance of Hybrid technology thus this option is very much a long term approach. A SWOT analysisfor this option is outlined below in figure six.
