The first thing that is noticeable about the way Seamus wrote this poem is his use of rhyme or
lack thereof. He uses slant rhymes throughout most of the poem an example being sun and ripen
on lines one and two. This could be interpreted to portray how the speaker feels. The speaker
wants the blackberries to stay sweet despite his experience picking blackberries that would
always end up rotting. At the same time, the slant rhymes are so close to rhyming, but never fully
do creating a bittersweet feeling that symbolizes how the speaker loves the blackberries, but how

t fair (22). Another example of Seamus creating this bittersweet tone in the poem is how he uses
iambic pentameter throughout most of the poem, but similar to how the slant rhymes don t quite

progress of film censorship and how it has varied throughout the country as well as state to state.

activity as tested with the enzyme catalase and the substrate hydrogen peroxide at several

In the novel Hidden Figures, the characters face many challenges do to their race and gender. In
the early to mid nineteen hundreds, Women working was quite unconventional exceptional if
they were African American. Therefore when NACA and Langley decided to start hiring African
women, as the United States was midst a war, it was a step into greater equality. Similar to these
ideas, the play A Streetcar Named Desire deals with the ideas of women equality and the
dominance men have on them. The themes of these novels are fairly alike however they are also
extremely different. The theme of Hidden Figures is the problems of race and genderand the
inequalities the characters face, comparably A Streetcar Named Desire, faces the theme of women s
oppression.
In Hidden Figures the theme of the book is the theme of the time period in the United States at
that time, which is the suppression of people do to their race and gender. This was still relevant
during the beginning of the war. Even though Langley and NACA were hiring African women
they still were segregating them and giving them unequal treatment and pay. Mary Jackson is
extremely talented but however because of her race and gender she is constantly looked over. This
injustice to women shown in the book just represents how unequal the world once was. No matter

Being an engineer, Mary Jackson would eventually learn, meant being the only black person, or the

The introduction of the advanced individual training (AIT) platoon sergeants was one of the
most recent changes to the initial entry training (IET) program. The Army will continue to
evaluate and assess the IET training program to assure training is still relevant to the needs of
the Army. Late in 1962, Secretary of the Army Elvis J. Stahr Jr. directed Under Secretary of the
Army Stephen Ailes to survey how the recruits are trained in the Army. The research was pooled
from a wide variety of personnel and took a very longtime. This research also included other
branches of service, comparing techniques and strategies to ensure they had the most accurate data
available. The survey findings concluded the noncommissioned officers (NCOs) were poorly
regarded working long hours, lack of free time for family concerns, and inadequate staffing. The

The tension that Steinbeck creates in chapter six is very prominent; there are moments of peace
and moments of despair. The first case in which Steinbeck creates tension is at the very beginning
of the first chapter where the reader can hear peace. It is only after reading chapter six that the
reader on hindsight can compare the peacefulness in the first chapter to the tension in the last
chapter, this creates tension as the readeris now well aware that one of Steinbeck s narrative
techniques is that the movement goes from harmony to discord. Steinbeck also uses pathetic

language can be shown through the way he drinks the water as he kneels down in chapter six,
instead of drinking like a horse in chapter one. We find this to be very different to the Lennie we
met in chapter one. As Lennie is trying to process the problem we can assume that he feels guilty
for what he has done.
Tension in the novel again rises when there is a conversation between Lennie, his aunt Clara and a
gigantic rabbit . Let alone everything we see to show the workings of Lennies mind, we can still
tell that his mind is childlike if he is having imagery of a gigantic talking rabbit . The hallucinations

Brill is a average story but it means a lot more than the words tell and about the way people
effect others without even knowing it. The beginning of the story starts off pretty slow but then
picks up towards the middle. I was growing a little weary of the immense detail throughout the
story. When Mrs. Brill was making snap judgements about the other characters I started to
dislike her more and more. I still remained to like Mrs. Brill although the author makes it
difficult felt her presence was hindering their mood. But in all reality Mrs. Brill was just sitting
in a public area and happened to make the girl feel uncomfortable, while the young couple
instead of just moving places responded in a ill manner ruining the rest of her day. Over all I
find the story mediocre but with a good moral and ethical agenda.to like her because of all her
