First Class Moton Mentor
Sergeant First Class Moton has had a positive influence on my life. My mentor SFC Moton
shared a lot of his life with me in a short period of time and I can t even tell you his first name.
Mainly because we go by our rank in the United States Army and that the rank is your first name.
And even though he went on to make First Sergeant he will always be SFC Moton to me.
I never had a mentor before didn t know I needed one. But he was there when I needed one and
trust me at the age of 24 I needed some Guidance. In February of 2000 I was leaving Germany on
my way to Fort Hood, TX. I was assigned to Charlie Company also called Cobra Company in May
of 2000. And that s where I met SFC Moton, he was a tall and slender man with light skin, bald head

I was ready to say goodbye to the U.S Army. I was going back and forth about what I was going
to do. Should I go should I stay type of thing. So one day SFC Moton said to me Sgt. May we
having lunch today you and me. He told me to be waiting for him in the back of the Company
around 1030 hours. We didn t go to lunch early often. I started wondering what was wrong did I
miss something, was something not cleaned was something missing. So I waited out back like I
was order to do and waited for some type of reprimand. When he got there he said let s take a
walk to Popeye s and I was relieved nothing was wrong. Our conversation started like it always
had about women, we laugh and joked as I told him what was going on in my world. We laugh
and he told me one of his Recruiter stories. We shared laughs and stories as if we were father and
son. And then he asked me about my future plans in the Army and wanted to know what I was
going to do with my life. I gave him the only thing I had, a story. I was going home to go back to
school and get a job on the police force and live with my father for a little while just until I could
get on my feet. Really, I didn t have a plan and he knew it, like I said you get to know each other
pretty well during those Field Training Exercises. He wanted to talked to me about my potential
and let me know I already had a career in the Army.

The Symbol Of The Green Light In The Great Gatsby
So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back carelessly into the past. Mr. Carraway s
hypothesis about the human condition reflects on humankind s innate desire to strive for their
goals despite the odds. Carraway s parable exemplifies my motives in applying for Advanced
Placement Language and Composition. Despite it being a competitive class to be accepted into, I
am willing to persevere despite the odds; with the current being all other prospective students and
myself being the boat that continues to beat on. The recurring symbol of the green light in The
Great Gatsby also reflects on my aspirations of the course. My personal green light, or aspirations
for the future, involves the acceptance into AP Language as well as... Show more content on

My substantial reading habits and well as my near perfect attendance are just some of the
guidelines I have set for myself. I spend a majority of my leisure time from the trains to and from
school to spare time in class reading. My fascination of classic literature combined with my
interest in various academic subjects, specifically science and history, inspired me join the
school s book club. As a founding member of the book club, acceptance into aforementioned
course would enable me to integrate ideas and novels from the class into club meetings, thus
making for much more interesting discussions. Aside from being a member of book club, I am a
prospective member of both the science and philosophy clubs due to my excessive interest in
science and debates. The integration of ideas and rhetoric from AP Language would also
enhance discussions in philosophy club. To add to my credibility, past experience in Advanced
Placement World History would further render me capable of handling an Advanced course such
as this one. My punctuality and superlative attendance would also prohibit me from falling
behind in class and missing work. Since my attendance is based on my desire for education,
missing class is of my lowest aspects. My eagerness for knowledge succeeds any personal setbacks
or flaws one might have and promises a successful future for

The Influence Of Technique
Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto, Austin Trout, Erislandy Lara, Shane Mosley, Amir Khan, and
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr are names that would appear on the resume of a hall of fame veteran on
his way to retirement, yet this resume belongs to a twenty seven year old with years left in the
gas tank. Canelo Alvarez isn t a perfect fighter; he lost against Floyd Mayweather, and people have
criticized some of his recent fights. Nevertheless, he deserves a lot more credit from the boxing
community than he s getting now.

fighters with less than stellar resumes? Vasyl Lomachenko is a great fighter with a bright future,

In 2014, he decided to take on Erislandy Lara against his team s wishes and common sense. Lara
was a skilled boxer that was feared by most people in the junior middleweight division, but
Alvarez decided to take him on to prove he wasn t afraid to take a step up in competition.
As you all know, that fight didn t help Alvarez in the eyes of the public. He beat Lara in a close
fight, but that wasn t enough for the boxing community. Instead of being applauded for winning
a close fight with someone he could ve easily avoided, the dominant storyline was that Lara was
robbed. Yes, there was the ridiculous 117 111 score, but the fight was close enough for Alvarez to
get the nod. Nevertheless, the boxing community couldn t come to grips with the fact that a close
fight doesn t equal a robbery, so Alvarez didn t get the amount of praise Golovkin got in his recent
close fight with Daniel Jacobs.
The weirdest part of all of this is how the networks and media treat Canelo Alvarez. Alvarez is
one of the biggest pay per view stars in boxing. His fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. drew over 1
million paper view buys, which is almost unheard of outside of Mayweather and Pacquiao. With
numbers like that, you would think it would be in the best interest of boxing to push Canelo
Alvarez as the next all time great. Alvarez brings in more money for HBO than any fighter in their
catalog, yet they don t praise him as much as

The Effects Of Sexual Abuse On Women
One of the greatest fears that affect women worldwide is getting sexually attacked. These are
occasions that leave the victims with emotional scars that last a lifetime. Sexual abuse is an act that
underline inhumane and repulsions of torment for women. The horrors are an understatement when
the victims are kids. Most women, who have encountered rape, have had the assault in their
younger ages. Recuperating from such recollections and scars can result into two actions; carrying
on with a productive life or committing suicide. In Morrow and Smith s study that was published
in 1995, depicted a portion of the women who survived the ordeal and managed to adapt with the
emotional scars have done to get to that state. Sexual abusefor women causes a great deal of fear,
given that more than 40% of women in the United States and Canada are victims. The figure within
the study demonstrates exactly how pandemic the abhorrent is and the impacts that are a great deal
more than the figures would indicate. Experts helping the women that are experiencing mental and
physical trauma resultant from such abuse, utilize the construct approach and the indications to try
to comprehend and react accordingly.
Majority of the research published in the past attempted to demonstrate the issues that the women
experience, drawing on the negative aspects of the encounters and the emotional turmoil connected
with this ordeal. There is an alternate point of view that takes a gander at the positive

Cerebrum Essay
The Cerebrum
To begin with, the human brain is the most complex part of the human body. It has control to every
organ because of a primary functional unit which is the neurons. The exterior part of the brain has
specific functions to every organ in the human body. Therefore, the human brain is the most
important organ in the human body. A person can be left brained or right brained according to how
they act.
The Cerebellum is the trilobed structure of the brain. The cerebellum helps provide smooth
coordinated body movement. Examples would balance, posture, coordination, and voluntary
movements. It also modifies motor commands to make more movement accurate and adaptive. The

Essay On Why I Want To Attend A Military Academy
Since I was a young kid I have wanted to attend the United States Military Academy. I have
always wanted to, and felt a need to serve my country in the military. As I got older I learned
about some amazing men who have graduated from West Point like Robert E. Lee, Dwight
Eisenhower, and Ulysses Grant. These men are some of the most famous men in American history
and I want to contribute to our country s success just like these men. I believe there is no better
way to honor my country then by becoming an active duty Army Officer.
As I have grown up and met some great influential people they always have some traits in
common. They are all leaders and they are all very intelligent. I believe I have some of the same
qualities as those people and want to use those qualities to my fullest potential. People from all over
America and even the world attend the United States Military Academy because it is the world s

August Osage County Movie Analysis
Wow, was the first thought that came to mind when watching the film August Osage County, which
depicts a chaotically enmeshed family. Erratic discipline and dramatic role shifts were visible
within this families. Drugs and alcohol kept this family in a constant state of chaos where
individual s reactions are unpredictable. The familyrule seems to be that the females are mean.
Speak your mind, don t hold your tongue and never think of how what you say will affect others.
The film talked about Violet s upbringing, allowing the viewer to comprehend that she came from a
house of abuse where the mother was mean and seemed to get joy in inflicting pain on her children.
The story of the Christmas boots was a dramatic example of Violet s upbringing. Barbra (Violet s
daughter) also has a sharp tongue because she was raised by her mean spirited mother. The family
of origin is having a strong effect. Left unchallenged a multigenerational dysfunction continues.

| Lithosphere | Ecology (NASC 1093)| | The Lithosphere * The lithosphere is the hard shell of the
Earth, consisting of the crust and the topmost part of the upper mantle. * It is a relatively thin
layer, about 31 to 62 miles (50 to 100 km) thick under the oceans and 93 miles (150 km) thick on
the continents. * It contains the minerals, rocks and soils that humans have used for building
materials, metals and agriculture. * This layer is composed of the upper crust, about 3 miles (5 km)

Hollywood has had a history of producing apocalyptic science fiction films in which certain
societies are faced with life threatening conditions and have to look to other planets for gathering
resources. Movies such as Oblivion (directed by Joseph Kozinsky) and War of the Worlds (Steven

Foodborne Illnesses In The United States
There have been many outbreaks of foodborne illnesses in the United States which claim
thousands of lives each year. I chose my essay topic based on my desire to contribute to creating
awareness of simple methods of foodborne disease prevention. Also, I currently work in the
healthcare service industry and I am enrolled in Community and Public Health with UoPeople. This
topic is directly related to my career.
Foodborne illnesses are infections of the digestive tract caused by eating infected foods or drinks.
These illnesses are caused by pathogens such as harmful bacteria, parasites, and viruses. These
pathogens cause death or get people hospitalized. Some examples are Salmonella, E.coli, and
Norovirus. These are found in raw and undercooked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The results showed that foods contaminated by these pathogens caused 9.4 million illnesses, 55,961
hospitalizations, and 1,351 deaths each year (p. 12).
Even though people are aware of the importance of cleaning their homes, majority do not
comprehend how cleaning can reduce the level of bacteria in their meals. Also, a lot of Americans
undercook their meat, chicken, and egg. Most do not understand, or find it difficult to understand
the safe food handling instructions on the labels of the products they buy. They even do not keep
to the recommended requirements when storing food in their refrigerators. Since proper food
storage reduces the rate of bacteria growth, the refrigerator temperature should be set to between
32F and 41F. (Bruhn, 2014, p. 319, 326)
However, according to Doyle, et al (2015), there has been reduction in the number of outbreaks
and illnesses due to E.coli infections in the past 15 years. This is due to CDC mandate that
clinicians conduct laboratory testing and reporting of microbial agents that cause illnesses. As a
result, foods highly at risk of getting contaminated are being monitored, inclding natural foods that
contain little or no antimicrobial agents (p. 254). Also, clinicians have taken more active role in
educating people about ways to prevent or reduce foodborne diseases. Washing hands properly as
well as changing cutting boards after handling raw poultry or meat is very important for food

Caravaggio And The Caravaggesque
Caravaggio, arguably one of the best Baroque artists of all time. Best known for his extremely
detailed, and realistic style of Baroque art, which, when paired together with Annibale Carracci
(1560 1609 ) classical style, allowed for him to overshadow the almost mundane style of
Mannerism. Though he was not considered the best artist of his time, when he was alive, he
managed to reinvigorate religious art in both Rome and Naples, allowing for wide spread change
in the religious art world, that, after spreading through Rome, reached almost all corners of Europe.
Though Caravaggiowas acursed with a violent hand, he is considered to be one of the most
influential artists of the 17th century, as his style revolved around taking certain characteristics
from previous afamed artists, thus allowing for him to create his own unique style that was
recognized nationwide, leading to the term caravaggesque, meaning, when a painting mimics the

Lastly, and very important, the skill to communicate efficiently in order to achieve the projected
goals (Weiss and Tappen, 2015 p.4). If leaders have the first two skills mentioned above and lack
effective communication skill, such leaders would not be able to express themselves well about
their anticipated plans to their target population, and this can cause flaws that will affect their
leadership.
Furthermore, there are different theories which give insights about why some leaders lead the
way they do. One of these theories is the behavioral theory, it emphasized on what leaders do and
their leadership styles. The behavioral theory explains three different types of leadership styles
namely: autocratic, democratic, and laissez faire. An autocratic leader makes plans, gives
direction on how to execute them, and makes decisions for the group. These type of leaders are
highly power control. They give little or no freedom to the members. Whatever they say is final.
On the other hand, democratic leaders allow members to participate in the decision making. They
seek opinions of the members. On the other hand, laissez faire leaders allow members to do
whatever they like. This type of leaders does very little planning or decision making thus fail to

Histology Chapter 5 Summary
Chapter 5 deals with histology, the study of tissues. Types of tissue include epithelial tissue,
connective tissue, nervous and muscular tissue. Cell junctions, glands and tissue growth,
development, repair and degeneration are discussed.
Histology is also called microscopic anatomy because a microscope is needed to view the
structures of tissues.
Tissues are prepared for study thinly slicing the tissue, preserving them with a fixative and
staining them to produce greater detail. Tissue samples can be sliced longitudinally, by cross
sections or by oblique sections. Liquid tissues, like blood are smeared on a slide for microscopic
study. Epithelial tissue covers the body and internal organs. It protects the body from injury and ...

The two types of osseous tissue are spongy bone and compact bone. Blood is the liquid connective
tissue. It is made of a ground substance called plasma and other formed elements. The formed
elements are erythrocytes (red blood cells), leukocytes (white blood cells), and platelets that aid in
clotting.
Nervous tissue is made of neurons, and neuroglia (glial cells). The neurons have a pronounced cell
body called the neurosoma. Dendrites are extensions that branch from the neurosoma to receive
messages and communicate those messages to the neurosoma. Neurosoma also have an axon
(nerve fiber) that extends from the cell body that sends out signals to other cells. Glial cells transmit
messages only short distances. They provide protection and support to the nervous system.
Muscular tissue is built to contract and relax for movement, circulation and digestion. Skeletal,
cardiac and smooth muscle are the 3 types of muscular tissue. Skeletal muscle is usually attached to
bone, but there are exception like the tongue and some muscles of the face. Skeletal muscle is
voluntary and striated. Cardiac muscle is only found in the heart. It is involuntary muscle tissue but
is also striated. Smooth muscle is neither striated nor voluntary. It can be found in the digestive

Virginia And Plymouth Colony Compare And Contrast
Virginia and Plymouth were one of the first colonies in the New World. They both had horrible
conditions to live with including food shortages, storms, Indian attacks, disease, and frigid
winters. Jamestown was the first permanent English colony in the Americas located in Virginia
where colonists first landed in 1607. Six hundred people were sent in a fleet of nine vessels on a
long month long journey to Virginia. There were many things going bad right from the beginning:
two ships were lost in disasters, many people died from illness, the winters were very cruel, and the
natives cut them off from any food available. After months of torture, they finally got enough

themselves; it gave them enough organization to start the colony. It was based Half of the
colonists were able to survive a cruel winter thanks to the help of the natives. They gave them food,

smallpox (brought by the Europeans) killed most of the Indian population near Plymouth. As the
colony grew and established more towns, it no longer made sense to bring every free man to elect
officials. Instead, every town had to elect a deputy for General Court . This was similar to today s
United States representative government. Plymouth was never able to get sustainable or reliable
agriculture growing due to the sandy and marshy soil, but they were able to make a substantial
amount of profit from trade with fish and furs. Plymouth was never able to become as profitable
as Jamestown because the colonists never worried about wealth; they just wanted to live better

me that I was young and have so much potential. He also said that I should not work in this type
of work all my life that I should go get myself an education and a degree. This is what shocked
me. Something just clicked in my head and told me that what he was saying was true. This is
when I started to plan out my life to go back to college and become who I always dreamed to be.
My dream is to be a mechanical engineer and engineer refineries all over the world. This will be my

How Did Cronus Build An Ancient Greek God
In Ancient Greece, there was believed to have been many gods who controlled specific
components of the Earth. Cronus (or Kronos) was the Titan King. He was married to Rhea and
they had six children: Hera, Hestia, Demeter, Poseidon, Hades, and Zeus. Kronos swallowed each
of his children when they were born to avoid a prophecy that he had been told. Rheahid her
youngest child, Zeus, so he would not be swallowed by Cronus. She gave Cronus a stone wrapped
in cloth to trick him, and he fell for it. Zeus grew up in hiding from his father in a cave on Crete.
Since his mother had to return to Cronus, Zeus had to be raised by Amalthea, a goat, and a nymph
named Melissa. They nursed him and took care of the young child. Melissa and Amalthea had to
entertain Zeus very often so Cronus... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Zeus overthrew his father while in battle and took the throne at Mount Olympus. After the defeat
of their father, the three brothers had to determine who rules what aspect of the Earth. Although
many think it was not a very smart way to decide, Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades drew lots.
Arguably, Zeus ultimately won. He became the god of the sky and ruler of all the other
Olympians. Altercations between Olympians were settled by Zeus and he also could punish their
wrongdoings. Since he was the god of the sky, Zeus could create storms, darkness, droughts, or
even hurricanes on Earth. If he was ever furious, lightning bolts could have been hurled to the
Earth as punishment. He also cherished the mortals on Earth. They would be rewarded for being
honest and fair, while being punished for thievery or cruelty. During the revolt of his father, Zeus
gained the help of Prometheus, a titan at the time. Prometheus secretly gave mortals fire and
metalworking skills after Cronus was overthrown. Zeus began to get very angry at Prometheus, so
he punished him severely. He had Prometheus bound to a stone with an eagle devouring his liver

Salt River Tubing Research Paper
For most people, Summer is the best part of the year. No school, no homework, just a few
months of paradise. Many people spend their summer traveling, playing sports, or just hanging
out. But freshman Robert Carbajal enjoys his summer at the skate park. Summer is just a really
good time to go out and learn new tricks, skate around and hanging with some good friends. said
Robert. In Arizona, the summers can get very hot. In some occasions, the temperatures can
reach up to 110 degrees! To stay cool, swimming is very popular during the warm weather. Some
people will go down to the lake or the river, or just hang by the pool and relax. I like to go Salt

Native And Invasive Species Comparison Essay
I am going to be finding the differences in Native and Invasive grasses, along with following
information about the species. Native grasses are the dominant plants in the vast rangeland plant
communities and are important in the understory of many forested areas. Fibrous roots of grasses
hold the soil in place and build up soilfertility. Invasive plants are plants which grow quickly and
aggressively, spreading and displacing other plants. Invasive plants are usually introduced by people
either accidentally or on purpose, into a region far from their native habitat. In recent years interest
in the use of a number of native grasses has increased. Species of interest include switchgrass
(Panicum virgatum), indiangrass (Sorghastrum nutans), eastern gamagrass (Tripsacum dactyloides),
big bluestem (Andropogon gerardii), and little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium). Native grasses
mix beautifully with wildflowers in both natural and formal... Show more content on

However, we find that Centaurea diffusa, a noxious weed in North America, has much stronger
negative effects on grass species from North America than on closely related grass species from
communities to which Centaurea is native. Centaurea s advantage against North American species
appears to be due to differences in the effects of its root exudates and how these root exudates
affect competition for resources. Our results may help to explain why some exotic species so
successfully invade natural plant communities. Negative impacts of invasive plants on natives have
been well documented, but much less is known about whether invasive plants can cause population
level declines. We used demographic models to investigate the effects of two invasive grasses on
the demography and population growth of Anemone patens, a long lived native perennial of North

Comparing Wollstonecraft s Pride And Prejudice
The novel Pride and Prejudice was set during the late 1700 s and the early 1800 s. Jane Austen
wrote the novel based on the events that occurred around her. Historical conflicts during the
construction of the novel are present in the novel itself. While writing Pride and Prejudice, Jane
Austen was influenced by the war with France, the landed gentry, and marriage and gender roles
in her society which caused the plot, characters, and the outcome of the book. The war with
France stretched over twenty two years, and it affected every level of British society. A quarter of
a million men were serving in the regular army, a militia of officers and volunteers in the southeast
coast of England (where Jane was from) were convinced that it was an... Show more content on

In her writing, Wollstonecraft argues that women should be treated with the same equals as men.
This was a conflicting transformation in women s roles that occurred within the century. Elizabeth
Bennet can be considered as an example and a supporter of the writing. Disinherited of her father s
property, Elizabeth is not financially independent, and depends upon advantageous marriage for her
future survival. Although throughout the novel she asserts her independence that reflects some of
Wollstonecraft s opinions and beliefs. An example would be when she rejected to be married
with Mr. Collins even though she was in need of the financial support, as he was the one who
was to inherit the family estate. However Miss Elizabeth Bennet s friend did the exact opposite
and married Mr. Collins because she was already a burden to her parents and was afraid that she
would never be asked to marry again. Elizabeth also stood up to Mr. Darcy when he was making
remarks about the country even though he was at a much higher social status than she was, and she

Reflection Paper About Travel To America
This year, I went on a 3 week voyage to China and returned to America with plenty of new
knowledge. The following story describes it in detail.
Preface: In our house, we were putting all the gifts, everyday items, etc. in our bulky suitcases. At
that moment, we were ready as a family to drive to Los Angeles and fly in a plane to еЊ—дє¬ then
domestically transfer to 西安. Well, it turns out that the process was going to be exceedingly
harder than I thought. We not far off through the road later in the car, we had to go back and check
something in our house. After checking, I rested in the car, hoping nothing would go out of hand.
Arriving to the massive parking lot garage, we came to park in a spot we rented. Since we could
not find our parking space, we just decided to stumble upon whatever our car fits in and isn t
reserved; though it took ages. We were rushing to the shuttle stop while being stressed out that
we are going to miss both planes. Thankfully, a hotel manager called a taxi to arrive and drive us
to the LAX international airport. Arriving, we handed over $25.00 to the taxi he requested and
appeared 30 minutes before boarding. 30 mediocre minutes later, we were at the point of boarding
our plane. In the plane, I was disappointed by the poor quality of the entertainment. At least it was
only 12 hours and 40 minutes of the boredom. In the plane, it was difficult to lay my hands on a
movie that is worth the watch.

Analysis of Symbiosis Between Medicago Truncatula and...
1.This work aims to analyze the existence of both partner choice and plant sanctions in Medicago
truncatula Sinorhizobium meliloti symbiosis by performing split root experiments with natural
strains (Gubry Rangin et al. 2010). NoГ« Hammerstein (1994) described symbiosis as biological
market since the plants are able to exchange the nutrients with different species which will create
the conflict. The strains with different fixation level in natural rhizobiapopulations were described
by Miller Sirois (1982) and Rangin et al. (2008). Bull Rice (1991) and Simms Taylor (2002)
suggested that rhizobia symbiosisis likely explained by the partner choice model as the bacteria are

The N2 fixing strain appears efficient in nitrogen fixation than non fixing strain

The nodule number was significantly higher in roots inoculated with the non fixing strain than the

There are restrictions of nodule formation in the non limiting side of the plant when one side of the

The mean biomass per nodule was higher in the N2 fixing strain which indicates that M. truncatula

resources.
In the mixed treatment, a significantly higher biomass per nodule was measured for the N2 fixing

Mermaids those half human, half fish sirens of the ocean are fabulous ocean animals recorded
on oceanic societies since time immemorial. The name comes from mer meaning sea, and the
male version is called Merman. But can such a creature really exist? Between a myth and a reality,
the Mermaids topic has raised a lot of conflicts and questions. People wondered how such a
creature could be real. A lot of Researches were made, a lot of fossils were observed, in order to

The most prevalent myth was that Mermaids attract sailors by their beautiful voice, and when
sailors arrive, they face their destinies. In other words, they can be carriers of terrible fortune,

Mermaids as helpful to everyone; when they were in a decent state of mind, they would safeguard
people. In a silvery cave, live the golden haired Nereids or sea nymphs that helped sailors fighting

Moreover, mermaids are too frequently said to be able to love humans after which they set out to
discover a cure to get freed of their fish tail for legs.
But does Mermaids really exist?
Ichthyologist made a lot of researches on Mermaids, including looking at fossils and sea history.
They found no evidence of aquatic humanoids. They added that what sailors saw was probably the
Mentees creature , which has the same size of humans. No one has ever captured a Mermaid. . In
addition, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration posted a statement on its website
denouncing the supposed existence of the half human, half fish beings. No evidence of aquatic
humanoids has ever been found.

That one question. That one question that changes everything. That one question that changes

about change. Change begins with a whisper is shown as Celia Foote finds confidence in herself

she couldn t have children. Celia, at the end of the book, finally accepts that she can t have
children and that Johnny is ok with it. Minnie also helps her build her cooking skills, but also

Short Story Of The Little Mermaid
Ever since Prince Eric severely stabbed Ursula with his ship, everyone thought she died. However,
he managed to summon enough energy to return to her lair and leave Atlantica. Since she was so
sickly, she needed a new henchman to help her become who she was before. Or in this case, a
henchwoman; me.
Let me explain how this all began. I met Ursula on my trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. She
wanted to set up a new lair somewhere unknown and away from Triton s rule, and decided on
Mexico since his Empire was near the European seas. My family went to a tourist attraction
where underwater caves lead to a hidden beach. I usually like to pick up shells from beaches I
visit, so I brought some gear to find some treasures. While underwater, I found a shell, glowing like
the sun, and as large as my hand.
Finally! Someone found my shell. I was starting to wonder if humans were stupid... a voice
muttered quietly. I looked around confused, thinking someone was nearby.
This isn t your ordinary shell, but that s not important right now, the voice said, My name is
Ursula. I need your help, and I think you d like my offer.
Ursula? Like from The Little Mermaid? I replied.
Ugh, that horrid film. That movie doesn t explain everything, but yes Ursula sighed.
Long story short, Ursula needed help gaining her full powers back after her brawl with Prince Eric
and Ariel. I agreed to aid her after she explained that as a girl she was shunned from the mermaid

The Animal Of Animal Welfare Act
Animal Welfare Act
Casandra Sasaki
Eagle High School
Abstract
The Animal Welfare Act, passed in 1966, establishes guidelines for the protection of animals used
for research and other purposes, defines the requirements for facilities housing those animals, and
outlines the procedures for inspection and maintenance of those facilities by government entities.
This paper explores the pros and cons of the act as well as the effectiveness of the guidelines and
their enforcement. Finally, it makes several recommendations based on the evidence presented.
Policy Identification and Explanation
The policy that I am researching is: United States Code: CHAPTER 54 TRANSPORTATION,
SALE, AND HANDLING OF CERTAIN ANIMALS. (Animal Welfare Act, 2015). This is the
Animal Welfare Act. Because the Animal Welfare act has so many parts to it, the section I am
focusing on is: В§2143: Standards and certification process for humane handling, care, treatment,
and transportation of animals (Animal Welfare Act, 2015).
This specific section is focusing on animal testing in research facilities across the United States. It
tells the minimum requirements for animals housing, treatment, care, sanitation, etc. This section
also states the requirements for procedures done on animals. Section three, part B states: the
principal investigator considers alternatives to any procedure likely to produce pain or distress
(Animal Welfare Act, 2015). The Animal Welfare Act is a federal law,

attorney or an assistant U.S. attorney, convenes a federal grand jury and presents it with
evidence or information that indicates that a specific person committed a crime. Only crimes
that engage federal laws are tried in federal court, such as bank robberies, serious drug law

enough evidence to show that the person in all probability committed the crime, it issues an

it may authorize a U.S. marshal or federal peace officer to arrest the defendant. The defendant is

Christ in Catholicism and Other Religions
The modern society is a highly pluralistic society. Rapid transmission of information in the
modern era and the ability of people to travel around the world on a larger scale has created
awareness that the world and the modern society has a multitude of diverse and contrasting
viewpoints on a variety of issues. This pluralism is evident in the realm of religionthan in any other
realm. Human awareness of the existence of the many religions in the world, today, is
unprecedented. Christians are aware of the existence of many other smaller religions apart from the
mainstream Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Judaism.
Statistics from the World Christian Encyclopaedia indicates that there are more than one billion

First, the truth found in all non Christian religions is attributable to God because he is the source of
every truth. The truth we know about God was universally known from the beginning.
There is a high possibility that the remnants of this revelation of the truth about God have survived
in the memory of different people around the world (Kalmin 133). It is also likely that some
elements of the truth about God were inculcated into some cultures through their ancient contact
with the chosen people of God, Israel, or with ancient Christians. For example, Prophet Mohammed
of the Islam religion had early contact with representatives of Christianity and Judaism (Smith
Christopher 34). Secondly it is important to recognize that where a twisted or false view on the
truth occurs, it is a result of the sinful nature of man repressing the truth he knows about God.
According to Romans 1:21, it is natural for human beings to repress the truth they know about, even
if it is quite evident to them. They substitute this truth with explanations that are futile. Finally,
Satan and his demon s role in influencing fake religious experiences and expressions cannot be
underestimated. Psalms 106:36 37 states that people who worship idols sacrifice to the demons. In

Artificial Intelligence In Frankenstein
Artificial intelligence is undoubtedly a widely debated topic in today s society. Many groups
suggest that it could soon enslave humanity, while others proposing that it s harmless and only
here to make our lives better. Mary Shelley s 1818 Gothic text, Frankenstein, recounts the story of
an ambitious, young scientist, Victor Frankenstein, who is intrigued by alchemy and natural
philosophy. Victor becomes interested with these subjects after beginning at Ingolstadt and
eventually executes experiments that bring the dead back to life. He creates a creature who is
outcast by society, which provokes it to vow revenge on its creator. The creature sequentially kills
everybody that Victor loves and ruins his life (Shelley). Frankenstein has the indisputable theme of
creating artificial intelligence that turns bad, much like James Cameron s 1984 film, The
Terminator. In Cameron s film, humanity creates an artificially intelligent program known as
Skynet, which becomes completely cognizant and overthrows the world by initiating a nuclear
holocaust. In the aftermath, a group of survivors create a resistance that attempts to destroy the
program; however, they are met with Skynet s cyborg army. Skynet sends a terminator, played by
Arnold Schwarzenegger, back in time to destroy Sarah Connor before her son, the leader of the
resistance, is born. Kyle Reese is then sent after the terminator and, in conclusion, saves Sarah and
destroys the terminator (Terminator). This movie and text are closely related in the sense that a
character from either the book or motion picture relate to a character in the alternative. Nick
Bostrom, a philosopher and the University of Oxford, states, ...superintelligence could emerge, and
while it could be great [...] it could also decide it doesn t need humans around, (qtd. in Ford). This
philosopher, like many other technology critics, can see the effects that artificial intelligence may
have on our future, yet there is always the select group of people who cannot foresee the
consequences of their actions. For example, Victor Frankenstein is introduced to science at a young
age and when he went to college at Ingolstadt he met Professor Waldman, whom shared a similar
scientific interest.

Louise Labe
In sonnet XXI, Louise Labe, treats the physical aspect of male beauty as something that is
unimportant or perhaps not the main aspect of what she considers an ideal or beautiful man. This
is contradictory to Petrarch s approach, since he seems to focus more on the physical beauty of
Laura, such as when he describes her golden hair. As well Louise Labe questions what makes a man
beautiful or what she refers to as stature that puts a man beyond compare . Through this sonnetLabe
tries to get across the point that while beauty may possibly be important, there are also spiritual or
emotional aspects of a man that can make them beautiful as well.
One way that Labe shows that she treats beauty differently than Peterach is by questioning What
stature puts a man ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What size? What kind of hair? What coloring? Unlike most other poets who have accepted a
universal ideal for beauty, Labe differentiates herself by questioning what makes a man beautiful.
She conveys the idea that there might be more to beauty than the physical aspects. This is done
through her sonnet by using words that help connect beauty to feelings such as when she refers to
What kind of music best a man befits? The comparison of music to men helps with her belief that
spiritual beauty is important because her use of music leads us to think of feelings and emotions.
Music helps express pain, happiness, and other emotions. The feelings it makes us feel, and the
pleasant sounds provides is something that can be considered beautiful. These are both things
which are also not physical, and yet still beautiful. This is important because

Nacl Affects on Enzymatic Reaction Essay
The Effects that 1%, 4%, and 16% Sodium Chloride (NaCl) Concentration Had on the Rate of
Reaction of Catecholase Enzymes in a Potato (Solanum tuberosum).
Abstract
Enzymes are a key component of a cell. They make chemical reactions happen faster because they
lower the activation energy to make the chemical reaction occur. Most of the time, it is best if
enzymes produce as efficiently as possible, but in some cases it is better if they do not, when
dealing with potatoes (Solanum tuberosum). If the catecholase enzyme of the potato is hindered, it
is less likely to brown when it is cooked. To see how efficient sodium chlorideis at slowing down
these enzymes, the experiment measured the rate of reaction when the enzymes were exposed ...

There are three factors that will alter an enzyme: temperature, pH and salt. All three will change
the structure of the enzyme by denaturation and rendering it useless when a drastic change occurs
from levels that are normal. A slight alteration can speed up reaction to certain saturation or slow
the process of reaction. Enzymes have a substrate: the substrate for the catecholase enzyme is
catechol and oxygen. When the substrate combines with the catecholase enzyme of a potato, the
product is a reddish brown color called benzoquinone. This product is what turns fruits and
vegetables brown (Briggs and others 2010). Therefore, slowing or stopping the process of would
increase shelf life of some food, or at least make the foods appearance appetizing much longer. The
equation for this chemical reaction is:
EnzymeSubstrateProduct Catechol + Oxygen Catecholase Benzoquinone The hindering of the
Benzoquinone could alter the production, and could lower the cost of produce. Nathalie Santis
and others (2005) preformed an experiment to see the effects of various NaCl solutions on thin
slices of potato that were fried. The potatoes were sliced 3mm thick and 30mm in diameter,
fourteen slices in all. All fourteen were blanched at 70В°C for five minutes. Seven were placed in
pure water at 26В°C and the other seven went into several NaCl solutions (0.6%, 1.2%, 1.8%,

Descriptive Essay On My Thursday Morning
The clock glares off the white tile floor, my blushed face matches the bright lettering on the
clock. Collected dust and dirt from the students shoes has now ended up all along of the back of
my pants. What a great way to start off my thursday morning. Beep, beep, beep, sounded my alarm,
7:05 glared across the screen of my fluorescent alarm clockinto my squinted eyes in the barely lit
room. My legs quickly jolted out of my bed, I was late again, I was supposed to be in the car by
7:25, of course since I was already running very late, it was also the type of morning when I had
nothing prepared. I had no idea what to wear, and hadn t packed my lunch or backpack, but at
this point i had only been awake for around 5 minutes, so I wasn t thinking very clearly. I
grabbed all of my stuff and made it out the door only 5 minutes late. Since I left a little bit late, I
had to sit in traffic on Woodruff Road, but luckily I made it to first period on time, I was in
geometry, when the teacher asked us to get out our homework, I dug in my backpack and couldn t
find my notebook anywhere, meaning that I had left it at home. So I had already woken up late,
and now also forgotten my math homework, I figured that my thursday couldn t get much worse, I
was wrong.
It was newly spring, meaning it was time to start wearing sandals. I was wearing my brand new
Sam Edelman shoes. They were taupe and laced up, with a very thin bottom with clearly no
friction, this was my first mistake. I had

Why Saddam Hussein Won The Invasion Of Iraq
President George W. Bush authorized the invasion of Iraq in 2003 citing that Saddam Hussein
had been stockpiling weapons of mass destruction. In March of 2003 US led coalition forces
entered the country and overthrew the Hussein regime. The conflict was very short causing some
of the infantry units to not be used in combat. After the conflict ended many of these units were
withdrawn from the country from lack of use. In the short term after the regime was toppled, there
was still resistance from irregular units loyal to Saddam. A consequence of the early withdrawal of
troops was the prolonged the need for American forces to remain in the country to end the
resistance. The last of these combat troops were withdrawn in 2011 after eight

Granular Materials
In order to investigate factors influencing the flow of granular materials such as sand and pea
gravel, researchers used the funnel apparatus shown below. Very small ceramic beads were
placed in the top funnel. The top funnel was then sealed. The beads passed through the
apparatus and fell into a container on top of a digital balance. A computer recorded the mass of
the collected ceramic beads over a period of time. Funnel apparatus drawing Ceramic beads with
diameters from 0.15 to 1.00 millimeter (mm) flowed easily through the funnel apparatus, but those
below 0.15 and above 1.00 did not. Those beads with diameters below 0.15 fell in a series of little

Human Nature In Machiavelli
Machiavelli views human nature as selfish and flawed, which contradicted the beliefs of humanism
during his time. While humanism held great faith in the abilities of humans, The Prince
depreciated these beliefs. In Chapter 3, it states that men must either be caressed or else destroyed,
because they will revenge themselves for small injuries, but cannot do so for serious ones. This
quote represents Machiavelli s views because it shows the selfish ways of human nature. A prince
must choose kindness or violence when it s best for his image. When choosing violence, a
prince must be wise about it, for not only his image, but also for self protection so that revenge
won t be seeked upon him. In Chapter 7, the story of how Borgia, also known as Duke Valentino,
held onto Romagna through deceit also further represents Machiavelli s views. Borgia wanted to
get rid of his unloyal troops of the Orsini because he feared they would fail him. After attempts
of trying to eliminate the troops, Borgia turned to manipulation. He showered Paolo Orsini, the
head of the Orsini house, with gifts and money to win over the favor of Paolo and his troops.
Now won over, the Orsini troops accepted an invitation to where Borgia resided. Borgia killed the
Orsini leaders and forced their followers to be his allies. Borgia secured his power over Romagna
through manipulation and selfishness, fitting into Machiavelli s views of human nature.
There are four ways in which a prince can rise to power: through

The Chinese Martial Arts Film
Most Martial arts films in China generally tend to foreground issues of gender. In addition, these
films portray a fixed line of gender separation. The Chinese Martial arts film culture has always
been more receptive to the general idea of the female character in what Westerners would indeed
consider exclusively male role such as the action hero (Castillo 3). In the martial art films several
actress have even established their entire reputations as action stars. The action heroes were also
held up as the idea of masculinity with all of its inherent characteristics of control, privilege and
agency. This is actually adopted from the western archetypes of male action hero which emphasize
connotations of physical presence and prominent body musculature. The emergence of the Chinese
martial artshas resulted to convergence of social, economic and political pressures that along with
creative talents of producers, writers, actors and directors, have indeed forged a national cinema
that captured attention of the world wide cinematic consciousness. Majority of the Chinese martial
arts movies are distinctively known in cultivating the concept of genderroles. A close analysis of
these movies ultimately portrays that multiple characters from the both genders not only play an
immense role in the martial arts aspect of the films, but indeed symbolize Chinese themes as well
as some of the issues that the country was going through at that particular time. In these regard, in

Khalil And Rebecca Case Study
Khalil and Rebecca attended Father Anthony Khoury s midnight Mass at Saint Matthew s
Church, his parish in East Stroudsburg. On the drive to the church, Khalil told Rebecca that he
despised his work at the Navy Department. It s tough working on a project that leads to
destruction of human life, he said. Rebecca didn t respond. At least, I have a job; one that pays
more than I expected. He let the subject drop. He didn t want to spoil this night of wonders.
Now, however, as the incense swirled to the heavens, Khalil prayed: God give me a sign that my
work on this military effort is justified. As the choir lifted their voices in praise of God s newborn
son, Khalil begged the little Christ child: Bring me peace of mind, oh Lord. As he consumed the

Privacy In The USA
Everyone has their own secret and private things covering around; we only show the world some
part of our lives and characters. Sometimes you need time to think, do homework or time to be
alone to realize what you love or what you need to do. People in the different nation has different
thinking about lifestyle. When I came to the U.S, I am so surprised and should learn more about the
privacy. Although Vietnamese people
do not have and care about privacy too much, American
custom about privacy is considered as a treasure and clearly show in the workplace and at home.

privacy to their home education. Although Vietnamese culture has its own reason for not being

world can be more vivid and contain curiosity. The privacy is highly recommended for another
country in the world. In my opinion, I think privacy is essential for life. It should be maintained
and promoted more in the other country. Privacy will help people be aware and more responsible
for work, life and the education of children in the family. Their children can live more independent
when away from home. And I think we should apply it to our life now and for future generations.
Because who knows about privacy can help the country and society are increasingly more

Chemical Relaxer Research Paper
A Relaxer is a chemical solution that alters the texture of your hair. It is typically used by black
women but people of different ethnicities use this product to straighten their hair. It works by
breaking down disulfide bonds bonds in bonds your hair which either loosens the curl pattern or by
completely elongating it. This alteration is permanent and can lead to brittleness. (Types of
Relaxers)
The man behind the relaxer is Garrett Morgan. his discovery in 1909 lead to the growth of a
multimillion dollar hair industry. Morgan opened a tailoring shop with his wife who had experience
as a seamstress. Morgan worked with the sewing machines but often encountered issues with the
needles scorching woolen fabric. To remedy this, he created a chemical solution to reduce the

Social Interactions And Its Effects On The Basketball Court
Felecia and Joseph both have numerous social interactions, not just as individuals, but as a couple
as a tool. Joseph is often seen socializing amongst his friends on the basketball courts. The
conversations touch on everything from basketball, to school, and relationships. During his
interactions with his friends on the basketballcourt, he can at times be competitive, but that s just
the nature of the game. If he ever loses there are moments when he ll just storm off the court not
shaking hands. His attitude can be taken to another level if he loses and performs poorly,
whenever this occurs he doesn t only storm off, but he also refuses to talk to anyone if he does
the conversations tend to turn out aggressive with a lot of trash talk. When things are going his
way Josephs demeanor is calm, he engages well with his friends, and he always brings humor to
the conversations, he tends to take himself less seriously when his girlfriend is not around, and
when he isn t losing games. Joseph is also a student giving him the chance to interact with his
classmates/teachers. There are moments when he doesn t have much to say unless he is talking
with his friends, he is polite and very respectful towards the teacher. Surprisingly, he always
appeared to be more timid when he was in class compared to when he was on the basketball courts.
Felecia has social interactions like Joseph, but with different people in different environments.

Labor Market Dualization
I will begin by highlighting the two existing categories of scholarship that motivate my research.
First, is the literature about the politics of labor market dualization. The other area is the study of
immigration attitudes. The existing scholarship on immigration attitudes and labor market
dualization is robust. However, there is little literature that combines these two issue areas. This gap
in the existing literature informs my own researchand has driven me to look at this important
connection further.
Dualization
The first area of literature that is vital to my research is related to the politics of insiders and
outsiders. Insiders being workers with strong labor protections and outsiders being workers outside
of those protections, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, outsiders are more likely to receive higher net social benefit from the welfare state than
insiders. Meaning they are more likely to take more in social benefits than they contribute to the
welfare state. These benefits include unemployment benefits, relief payments to the poor, social
security, and health care payments. Therefore, outsiders could have more to lose if they must split
their benefits with incoming immigrants that may receive higher social benefits than they
contribute. Governments may also decide to raise taxes to appease net social benefit recipients by
keeping their benefits the same. This may cause citizens to protest immigration to avoid a tax
increase to pay for incoming immigrants welfare. Insiders, because they pay more into the system
than they receive, may be more likely to oppose immigration on the tax raising grounds. Therefore,
the welfare explanations implication on insider outsider immigration politics can depend on how
the government acts. The insider outsider dilemma also can be tricky for the political party
themselves to navigate (Lindvall, Rueda,

Museum Of Modernism
The class visit to the Museum of Modern Art allowed myself to understand and visualize what the
work of Modernism really pertains to. As I was entering the Modernism Art exhibit or the first
time, I was excited yet uncertain of the paintings and works of art I would come across. After
exploring around, reading the information panels, and asking questions, I attempted to learn and
educate myself on the Modernist art movement. The purpose of the modernist period for artists was
to provide new meaning, illuminate the world in a different way, and to show different
relationships within the world. Modernismart isn t necessarily a rejection of the past as much as
trying to make meaning of the past that existed in the nineteenth century and sought... Show more

In terms of the approaches to modernism, thematically, another big theme of modernism besides
taking fragments of different elements is the concept and function of dislocation and distortion
of body parts that is deconstructed or broken down but then is thrown together, not in a way we
would recognize in a realistic mode. For example, one sees a human body in a certain way. Yet
some artwork of the human being is depicted in a style where an arm seems twisted and
dislocated. This represents breaking away from the past in a tradition of representing the body
in a new and different way. In The Girl Before a Mirror, it becomes apparent that the lady s body
has been distorted due to the darkening of her facial features. This is an example of how the
dominant trend of modern painting was through distortion. We can get a sense that her face is
darkened, her eyes are round and hollow, and her feminine body is twisted and contorted. She
seems older and more anxious due to her physical transformations. Furthermore, in the distorted
mirror reflection, the girl s nose becomes long and her full blond hair is reflected as thin and
green. Her mind has deformed her face and body since her breasts are lopsided and sagging, and
her face is aged. We might assume that Picasso was painting a scene of an isolated figure. The
isolation of that individual reminds me of alienation for instance since she doesn t seem connected
to others, which refers back to Things Fall Apart. Yet interpretation is arbitrary with modern art. A
particular artist might have not been thinking alienation is what he or she is trying to represent, but
what matters with any text, whether it is a literary text, painting, sculpture or piece of music is that
meaning is a combination of what is there and what we are bringing to the text. That is how
meaning works. It is not just in the text itself. So

  • 2. First Class Moton Mentor Sergeant First Class Moton has had a positive influence on my life. My mentor SFC Moton shared a lot of his life with me in a short period of time and I can t even tell you his first name. Mainly because we go by our rank in the United States Army and that the rank is your first name. And even though he went on to make First Sergeant he will always be SFC Moton to me. I never had a mentor before didn t know I needed one. But he was there when I needed one and trust me at the age of 24 I needed some Guidance. In February of 2000 I was leaving Germany on my way to Fort Hood, TX. I was assigned to Charlie Company also called Cobra Company in May of 2000. And that s where I met SFC Moton, he was a tall and slender man with light skin, bald head ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was ready to say goodbye to the U.S Army. I was going back and forth about what I was going to do. Should I go should I stay type of thing. So one day SFC Moton said to me Sgt. May we having lunch today you and me. He told me to be waiting for him in the back of the Company around 1030 hours. We didn t go to lunch early often. I started wondering what was wrong did I miss something, was something not cleaned was something missing. So I waited out back like I was order to do and waited for some type of reprimand. When he got there he said let s take a walk to Popeye s and I was relieved nothing was wrong. Our conversation started like it always had about women, we laugh and joked as I told him what was going on in my world. We laugh and he told me one of his Recruiter stories. We shared laughs and stories as if we were father and son. And then he asked me about my future plans in the Army and wanted to know what I was going to do with my life. I gave him the only thing I had, a story. I was going home to go back to school and get a job on the police force and live with my father for a little while just until I could get on my feet. Really, I didn t have a plan and he knew it, like I said you get to know each other pretty well during those Field Training Exercises. He wanted to talked to me about my potential and let me know I already had a career in the Army. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Symbol Of The Green Light In The Great Gatsby So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back carelessly into the past. Mr. Carraway s hypothesis about the human condition reflects on humankind s innate desire to strive for their goals despite the odds. Carraway s parable exemplifies my motives in applying for Advanced Placement Language and Composition. Despite it being a competitive class to be accepted into, I am willing to persevere despite the odds; with the current being all other prospective students and myself being the boat that continues to beat on. The recurring symbol of the green light in The Great Gatsby also reflects on my aspirations of the course. My personal green light, or aspirations for the future, involves the acceptance into AP Language as well as... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My substantial reading habits and well as my near perfect attendance are just some of the guidelines I have set for myself. I spend a majority of my leisure time from the trains to and from school to spare time in class reading. My fascination of classic literature combined with my interest in various academic subjects, specifically science and history, inspired me join the school s book club. As a founding member of the book club, acceptance into aforementioned course would enable me to integrate ideas and novels from the class into club meetings, thus making for much more interesting discussions. Aside from being a member of book club, I am a prospective member of both the science and philosophy clubs due to my excessive interest in science and debates. The integration of ideas and rhetoric from AP Language would also enhance discussions in philosophy club. To add to my credibility, past experience in Advanced Placement World History would further render me capable of handling an Advanced course such as this one. My punctuality and superlative attendance would also prohibit me from falling behind in class and missing work. Since my attendance is based on my desire for education, missing class is of my lowest aspects. • 4. The Influence Of Technique Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto, Austin Trout, Erislandy Lara, Shane Mosley, Amir Khan, and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr are names that would appear on the resume of a hall of fame veteran on his way to retirement, yet this resume belongs to a twenty seven year old with years left in the gas tank. Canelo Alvarez isn t a perfect fighter; he lost against Floyd Mayweather, and people have criticized some of his recent fights. Nevertheless, he deserves a lot more credit from the boxing community than he s getting now. How could a young fighter with a great resume be ranked lower among fans and media than fighters with less than stellar resumes? Vasyl Lomachenko is a great fighter with a bright future, but he s ranked higher than Canelo Alvarez on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 2014, he decided to take on Erislandy Lara against his team s wishes and common sense. Lara was a skilled boxer that was feared by most people in the junior middleweight division, but Alvarez decided to take him on to prove he wasn t afraid to take a step up in competition. As you all know, that fight didn t help Alvarez in the eyes of the public. He beat Lara in a close fight, but that wasn t enough for the boxing community. Instead of being applauded for winning a close fight with someone he could ve easily avoided, the dominant storyline was that Lara was robbed. Yes, there was the ridiculous 117 111 score, but the fight was close enough for Alvarez to get the nod. Nevertheless, the boxing community couldn t come to grips with the fact that a close fight doesn t equal a robbery, so Alvarez didn t get the amount of praise Golovkin got in his recent close fight with Daniel Jacobs. The weirdest part of all of this is how the networks and media treat Canelo Alvarez. Alvarez is one of the biggest pay per view stars in boxing. His fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. drew over 1 million paper view buys, which is almost unheard of outside of Mayweather and Pacquiao. With numbers like that, you would think it would be in the best interest of boxing to push Canelo Alvarez as the next all time great. Alvarez brings in more money for HBO than any fighter in their catalog, yet they don t praise him as much as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. August Osage County Movie Analysis Wow, was the first thought that came to mind when watching the film August Osage County, which depicts a chaotically enmeshed family. Erratic discipline and dramatic role shifts were visible within this families. Drugs and alcohol kept this family in a constant state of chaos where individual s reactions are unpredictable. The familyrule seems to be that the females are mean. Speak your mind, don t hold your tongue and never think of how what you say will affect others. The film talked about Violet s upbringing, allowing the viewer to comprehend that she came from a house of abuse where the mother was mean and seemed to get joy in inflicting pain on her children. The story of the Christmas boots was a dramatic example of Violet s upbringing. Barbra (Violet s daughter) also has a sharp tongue because she was raised by her mean spirited mother. Joe questions his former professor and asks, Shouldn t that energy be put into saving our home planet? Brand responds by giving Joe his own opinion on humanity s relationship with Earth. Earth s atmosphere is 80 percent nitrogen. We don t even breathe nitrogen. Blight does, and as it thrives our air gets less and less oxygen. The last people to starve will be the first people to suffocate. We re not meant to save the world; we re meant to leave it. In response to the current state of the planet, we see that ... • 13. Foodborne Illnesses In The United States There have been many outbreaks of foodborne illnesses in the United States which claim thousands of lives each year. I chose my essay topic based on my desire to contribute to creating awareness of simple methods of foodborne disease prevention. Also, I currently work in the healthcare service industry and I am enrolled in Community and Public Health with UoPeople. This topic is directly related to my career. Foodborne illnesses are infections of the digestive tract caused by eating infected foods or drinks. These illnesses are caused by pathogens such as harmful bacteria, parasites, and viruses. These pathogens cause death or get people hospitalized. Some examples are Salmonella, E.coli, and Norovirus. These are found in raw and undercooked ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The results showed that foods contaminated by these pathogens caused 9.4 million illnesses, 55,961 hospitalizations, and 1,351 deaths each year (p. 12). Even though people are aware of the importance of cleaning their homes, majority do not comprehend how cleaning can reduce the level of bacteria in their meals. Also, a lot of Americans undercook their meat, chicken, and egg. Most do not understand, or find it difficult to understand the safe food handling instructions on the labels of the products they buy. They even do not keep to the recommended requirements when storing food in their refrigerators. Since proper food storage reduces the rate of bacteria growth, the refrigerator temperature should be set to between 32F and 41F. (Bruhn, 2014, p. 319, 326) However, according to Doyle, et al (2015), there has been reduction in the number of outbreaks and illnesses due to E.coli infections in the past 15 years. This is due to CDC mandate that clinicians conduct laboratory testing and reporting of microbial agents that cause illnesses. As a result, foods highly at risk of getting contaminated are being monitored, inclding natural foods that contain little or no antimicrobial agents (p. 254). Also, clinicians have taken more active role in educating people about ways to prevent or reduce foodborne diseases. Best known for his extremely detailed, and realistic style of Baroque art, which, when paired together with Annibale Carracci (1560 1609 ) classical style, allowed for him to overshadow the almost mundane style of Mannerism. Though he was not considered the best artist of his time, when he was alive, he managed to reinvigorate religious art in both Rome and Naples, allowing for wide spread change in the religious art world, that, after spreading through Rome, reached almost all corners of Europe. Though Caravaggiowas acursed with a violent hand, he is considered to be one of the most influential artists of the 17th century, as his style revolved around taking certain characteristics from previous afamed artists, thus allowing for him to create his own unique style that was recognized nationwide, leading to the term caravaggesque, meaning, when a painting mimics the style of his works, it is deemed as being caravaggesque .... Furthermore, there are different theories which give insights about why some leaders lead the way they do. One of these theories is the behavioral theory, it emphasized on what leaders do and their leadership styles. The behavioral theory explains three different types of leadership styles namely: autocratic, democratic, and laissez faire. An autocratic leader makes plans, gives direction on how to execute them, and makes decisions for the group. These type of leaders are highly power control. They give little or no freedom to the members. Whatever they say is final. On the other hand, democratic leaders allow members to participate in the decision making. Cell junctions, glands and tissue growth, development, repair and degeneration are discussed. Histology is also called microscopic anatomy because a microscope is needed to view the structures of tissues. Tissues are prepared for study thinly slicing the tissue, preserving them with a fixative and staining them to produce greater detail. Tissue samples can be sliced longitudinally, by cross sections or by oblique sections. Liquid tissues, like blood are smeared on a slide for microscopic study. The neurons have a pronounced cell body called the neurosoma. Dendrites are extensions that branch from the neurosoma to receive messages and communicate those messages to the neurosoma. Neurosoma also have an axon (nerve fiber) that extends from the cell body that sends out signals to other cells. Glial cells transmit messages only short distances. Native grasses are the dominant plants in the vast rangeland plant communities and are important in the understory of many forested areas. Fibrous roots of grasses hold the soil in place and build up soilfertility. Invasive plants are plants which grow quickly and aggressively, spreading and displacing other plants. Invasive plants are usually introduced by people either accidentally or on purpose, into a region far from their native habitat. In recent years interest in the use of a number of native grasses has increased. Species of interest include switchgrass (Panicum virgatum), indiangrass (Sorghastrum nutans), eastern gamagrass (Tripsacum dactyloides), big bluestem (Andropogon gerardii), and little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium). Our results may help to explain why some exotic species so successfully invade natural plant communities. Rapid transmission of information in the modern era and the ability of people to travel around the world on a larger scale has created awareness that the world and the modern society has a multitude of diverse and contrasting viewpoints on a variety of issues. This pluralism is evident in the realm of religionthan in any other realm. Human awareness of the existence of the many religions in the world, today, is unprecedented. First, the truth found in all non Christian religions is attributable to God because he is the source of every truth. The truth we know about God was universally known from the beginning. There is a high possibility that the remnants of this revelation of the truth about God have survived in the memory of different people around the world (Kalmin 133). It is also likely that some elements of the truth about God were inculcated into some cultures through their ancient contact with the chosen people of God, Israel, or with ancient Christians. For example, Prophet Mohammed of the Islam religion had early contact with representatives of Christianity and Judaism (Smith Christopher 34). Secondly it is important to recognize that where a twisted or false view on the truth occurs, it is a result of the sinful nature of man repressing the truth he knows about God. According to Romans 1:21, it is natural for human beings to repress the truth they know about, even if it is quite evident to them. They substitute this truth with explanations that are futile. Finally, Satan and his demon s role in influencing fake religious experiences and expressions cannot be underestimated. Psalms 106:36 37 states that people who worship idols sacrifice to the demons. • 37. Artificial Intelligence In Frankenstein Artificial intelligence is undoubtedly a widely debated topic in today s society. Many groups suggest that it could soon enslave humanity, while others proposing that it s harmless and only here to make our lives better. Mary Shelley s 1818 Gothic text, Frankenstein, recounts the story of an ambitious, young scientist, Victor Frankenstein, who is intrigued by alchemy and natural philosophy. Victor becomes interested with these subjects after beginning at Ingolstadt and eventually executes experiments that bring the dead back to life. He creates a creature who is outcast by society, which provokes it to vow revenge on its creator. The creature sequentially kills everybody that Victor loves and ruins his life (Shelley). Frankenstein has the indisputable theme of creating artificial intelligence that turns bad, much like James Cameron s 1984 film, The Terminator. In Cameron s film, humanity creates an artificially intelligent program known as Skynet, which becomes completely cognizant and overthrows the world by initiating a nuclear holocaust. In the aftermath, a group of survivors create a resistance that attempts to destroy the program; however, they are met with Skynet s cyborg army. Skynet sends a terminator, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, back in time to destroy Sarah Connor before her son, the leader of the resistance, is born. Kyle Reese is then sent after the terminator and, in conclusion, saves Sarah and destroys the terminator (Terminator). This movie and text are closely related in the sense that a character from either the book or motion picture relate to a character in the alternative. Nick Bostrom, a philosopher and the University of Oxford, states, ...superintelligence could emerge, and while it could be great [...] it could also decide it doesn t need humans around, (qtd. in Ford). This philosopher, like many other technology critics, can see the effects that artificial intelligence may have on our future, yet there is always the select group of people who cannot foresee the consequences of their actions. For example, Victor Frankenstein is introduced to science at a young age and when he went to college at Ingolstadt he met Professor Waldman, whom shared a similar scientific interest. ... Abstract Enzymes are a key component of a cell. They make chemical reactions happen faster because they lower the activation energy to make the chemical reaction occur. Most of the time, it is best if enzymes produce as efficiently as possible, but in some cases it is better if they do not, when dealing with potatoes (Solanum tuberosum). If the catecholase enzyme of the potato is hindered, it is less likely to brown when it is cooked. There are three factors that will alter an enzyme: temperature, pH and salt. All three will change the structure of the enzyme by denaturation and rendering it useless when a drastic change occurs from levels that are normal. A slight alteration can speed up reaction to certain saturation or slow the process of reaction. Enzymes have a substrate: the substrate for the catecholase enzyme is catechol and oxygen. When the substrate combines with the catecholase enzyme of a potato, the product is a reddish brown color called benzoquinone. This product is what turns fruits and vegetables brown (Briggs and others 2010). Therefore, slowing or stopping the process of would increase shelf life of some food, or at least make the foods appearance appetizing much longer. While humanism held great faith in the abilities of humans, The Prince depreciated these beliefs. In Chapter 3, it states that men must either be caressed or else destroyed, because they will revenge themselves for small injuries, but cannot do so for serious ones. This quote represents Machiavelli s views because it shows the selfish ways of human nature. A prince must choose kindness or violence when it s best for his image. When choosing violence, a prince must be wise about it, for not only his image, but also for self protection so that revenge won t be seeked upon him. In Chapter 7, the story of how Borgia, also known as Duke Valentino, held onto Romagna through deceit also further represents Machiavelli s views. In terms of the approaches to modernism, thematically, another big theme of modernism besides taking fragments of different elements is the concept and function of dislocation and distortion of body parts that is deconstructed or broken down but then is thrown together, not in a way we would recognize in a realistic mode. For example, one sees a human body in a certain way. Yet some artwork of the human being is depicted in a style where an arm seems twisted and dislocated. This represents breaking away from the past in a tradition of representing the body in a new and different way. In The Girl Before a Mirror, it becomes apparent that the lady s body has been distorted due to the darkening of her facial features. This is an example of how the dominant trend of modern painting was through distortion. We can get a sense that her face is darkened, her eyes are round and hollow, and her feminine body is twisted and contorted. She seems older and more anxious due to her physical transformations. Furthermore, in the distorted mirror reflection, the girl s nose becomes long and her full blond hair is reflected as thin and green. Her mind has deformed her face and body since her breasts are lopsided and sagging, and her face is aged. We might assume that Picasso was painting a scene of an isolated figure. The isolation of that individual reminds me of alienation for instance since she doesn t seem connected to others, which refers back to Things Fall Apart. Yet interpretation is arbitrary with modern art. A particular artist might have not been thinking alienation is what he or she is trying to represent, but what matters with any text, whether it is a literary text, painting, sculpture or piece of music is that meaning is a combination of what is there and what we are bringing to the text.
