In the various attempts to reach that common aspiration these movements went through a series of
debates, controversies, tensions and strife which was indicative of the Protestant movement from
its inception and which brought about the Reformation. The fourth factor that necessitates a new
study is the fact that many existing analyses have been biased by the ideas and perceptions of
Protestant leaders which have distorted the perception and development of the movement. The last
reason McGrath gives for the need of a new study is the fact that Protestantism itself has changed in
the last fifty years. This study brings to the reader and to the scholar an updated version of the
present day Protestant movement, its impact in present day society and an analysis of its
significance in the future of Christianity. McGrath s Christianity s Dangerous Idea attempts to tell
the story of Protestantism from its early beginnings up to its present day form. A similar and
parallel story is found in Justo Gonzalez s The Story of Christianity in which he also gives a
narrative of the origin, growth and development of the Protestant movement from the Reformation
to the present day. However, Gonzalez not only gives an account of Protestantism but of
Christianity as a whole while McGrath concentrates his study on Protestantism alone. In addition,
McGrath not only narrates but also gives a prophetic

Studying Law And The Attainment Of Sound Legal
Studying law has been undoubtedly the most gainful experience of my educational pursuits.
The first year of study has afforded not only substantive knowledge of fundamental areas of the
law, but also the rigor of the first year has helped to develop skills indispensable to the attainment
of sound legal scholarship. Specifically, the considerable amount of reading required to establish
a foundation of legal understanding has incidentally improved my time management, helped to
fashion an efficient means of legal analysis, and most importantly it has enriched my legal
writing ability. Also, the rigor of law school has inspired a passion to excel in my studies beyond
any prior parameters contemplated. Moreover, the deadlock of ever present competition
combined with a boundless ambition has emboldened me to work as diligently as ever before.
The fruit of extensive legal reading became apparent during the preparation of an appellate brief
for Legal Research and Writing in the spring of this year. The experience of reading and briefing
sometimes archaic and arduous cases throughout the year was consequentially instrumental in the
speedy completion of researching case law for the appellate brief. What is more, the analytical
methodologies and legal lexicon garnered from learned jurists provided a framework in which my
legal writing flourished. Notwithstanding this framework, an unparalleled drive to improve my
writing ability contributed dramatically

1930 Olmsted-Bartholomew Parks Plan For The Los Angeles...
Eden by Design is a captivating read. A replica of the never adopted 1930 Olmsted Bartholomew
parks plan for L.A. County, Parks, Playgrounds, and Beaches for the Los Angeles Region, is the
essence of the book. Going through the introductory parts made me realize that had this plan,
which itself is extraordinary in its latitude and farsightedness, been implemented the congestive
mass of concrete that represents Los Angeles in the modern times could have been avoided. To
start with, the one element I liked the most about this plan is the parkways. It was important for
Los Angeles to have a system of continuous landscaped parkways dedicated to pleasure travel and
to act as lungs for a rather polluted city. Even though after going through the plan, I m not quite
adamant on the fact that why was it dropped.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Or, was it because the parkways were considered to be another factor adding to the congestion in
the city? Or, the financial concerns of the project were immensely overwhelming for it be turned
down by the developers? Nonetheless, Hise and Deverell do show us the positive side of this
inhumane corrupt elite behavior of the developers and political entrepreneurs and that they did
struggle to improve the urban environment. This book explains essentially where we are today in
the Los Angeles and such cities which lack the presence of usable parks, ironically by centering on
what to avoid and what actually didn t happen. To complete it, I would say it is strange that even
today, many of the same issues that beleaguered us about a century ago, still hang

Thomas Paine And John Paine Essay
Introduction Thomas Paine was born to Joseph Paine and Francis Cocke Paine in January, 1737.
Paine s father was Quaker, and his mother was Anglican. The religious controversies haunted
Paine throughout his life. His personal life ended in divorce and destitution. After barely avoiding
debtor s prison in 1774, a mutual friend introduced Paine to Benjamin. This introduction would
change the course of Paine s life. Franklin was immediately impressed with Paine and wrote a
letter of introduction for him. Paine suffered physical illness on his journey that very nearly killed
him, but he managed to survive the trip and arrived in Philadelphia September of 1774. After this
new start, Paine began his career of publishing articles and pamphlets in the colonies. His first
published essay was African Slavery in America. This article argued that slavery was unjust and
inhumane. Paine also wrote and co edited the Pennsylvania Magazine. He used this format to
express new ideas and learn about his audience. In January of 1776, Paine published Common
Sense, which would unite his fellow colonists on a path to either freedom or high treason. Paine
continued to publish throughout the ensuing revolution. He published a series of essays titled the
American Crisis Papers. These sixteen papers flamed the embers kindled by Common Sense; they
urged the colonists to fight against their perpetual enslavement by Great Britain. Although Paine s
early works often sold out, his contemporaries later

Child Prostitution Should Not Be Punished For Their Children
By: Aroob Fatima
Do you remember your childhood? You must be recalling stories of afternoons on the playground
with your friends or that heavenly feeling of eating freezies on a hot, summer day. Did the memory
of child prostitution run through your mind? No? How about having your rights and innocence
completely stripped away from you? About ten million children are involved in prostitution
worldwide (B.Willis, 2002), with India consisting of one million child prostitutes; forty percent
the country s total prostitution population (CNN, 2009). In most cases, children are kidnapped
and forced into prostitution or take part in what is known as survival sex to provide basic needs
for their family. But what happens when a child prostitute finally comes across a police officer
whom they believe have come to their rescue? They get arrested. Children forced into the sex trade
should not be punished for their actions, but instead, should be provided with assistance to cope
with the severe mental trauma they face.
Many government officials and police officers don t recognize child prostitutes as victims of
sexual abuse but treated as offenders who need to be punished for their crime. According to a
2011 FBI report, about two hundred thousand U.S. children are at risk of being exploited and
trafficked for sex. The majority of these children are girls between the ages of twelve and fourteen
and in foster care. The government suggests that child welfare systems should be

Optical Filters Used For Edge Detection
In image processing, a Gabor filter, named after Dennis Gabor, is a linear filter used for edge
detection. Frequency and orientation representations of Gabor filters are similar to those of the
human visual system, and they have been found to be particularly appropriate for texture
representation and discrimination. In the spatial domain, a 2D Gabor filter is a Gaussian kernel
function modulated by a sinusoidal plane wave. Simple cells in the visual cortex of mammalian
brains can be modeled by Gabor functions.[1][2] Thus, image analysis with Gabor filters is
thought to be similar to perception in the human visual system. A set of Gabor filters with
different frequencies and orientations may be helpful for extracting useful features from an
image.[7] In the discrete domain, two dimensional Gabor filters are given by, G_c[i,j]=B e^{
frac{(i^2+j^2)}{2sigma^2}}cos(2pif(icosheta+jsinheta)) G_s[i,j]=C e^{
frac{(i^2+j^2)}{2sigma^2}}sin(2pif(icosheta+jsinheta)) where B and C are normalizing factors to
be determined. 2 D Gabor filters have rich applications in image processing, especially in feature
extraction for texture analysis and segmentation.[8] f defines the frequency being looked for in
the texture. By varying heta, we can look for texture oriented in a particular direction. By varying
sigma, we change the support of the basis or the size of the image region being analyzed. Gabor

Emission Of Radiation
Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation (LASER) produces a narrow beam
light, which is used in a multitude to modern technology (NASA, 2017). A LASER is produced
through the using energy to excite atoms trapped within a space surrounded by mirrors. The
atoms will emit photons that will recoil off the mirrors, the more activity in this space the more
photons will be released, as it will increase the excitement of other atoms. In one section of the
codified are area a partial mirror is used allowing a singular been of photons to be released, hence
the LASERbeam. After Theodore Maiman invented the first practical laser people began to see the
potential this device possessed to further advance the world. Today the laser is... Show more content

The efficiency of the LASER can be seen as the output ranges from 9 to 11 m (Whitehouse, n.d.).
The gas discharge consists of multiple frequencies in the near IR to the mid IR ranges. The Carbon
Dioxide molecule is symmetric and linear, consisting of the carbon atom s balance with the two
oxygen atoms: O C O (Whitehouse, n.d.). Due to this triatomic (n=3) nature of the molecule
under principle it must have 4 vibrational modes, established by the 3n 5 relation of linear
molecules. Figure 1 depicts symmetric stretching mode v1, doubly bending mode v2 and the
asymmetric stretching mode v3 (Polfer, 2016). When each mode is in a ground state the
quantum vibrational is noted as 000, compared to 001, in which the first excited mode is the
asymmetric stretching mode, while the others are at the ground state. Figure 2 depicts the CO2
LASER s energy diagram. The excitation of N2 into its first vibration state is the result of
discharge. The N2 atoms cannot relax back into ground state through spontaneous emission due to
its limited dipole moment (Polfer, 2016). The CO2 molecule enters its first energy level of
asymmetric stretch, 001, by collisions between N2 molecule and CO2 molecules at ground state.
Stimulated emissions are activated from the 001 level to the 100 (symmetric stretching) and 020
(doubly bending mode) (Polfer, 2016). These two energy levels relax to the 010 level, as the result
of enhanced by collisions. Sufficient inversion

Piaget s Developmental Stages Essay
Piaget s developmental stages are ways of normal intellectual development. There are four different
stages. The stages start at infant age and work all the way up to adulthood. The stages include
things like judgment, thought, and knowledge of infants, children, teens, and adults. These four
stages were names after Jean Piageta developmental biologist and psychologist. Piaget recorded
intellectual abilities and developments of infants, children, and teens. The four different stages of
Piaget s developmental stages are sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, and formal
operational. Sensorimotor is from birth up to twenty four months of age. Preoperational which is

I handed my infant niece, Harper, a set of keys, thinking she would shake them and giggle at the
noise they made. I thought this because in Piaget s developmental stage, sensorimotor, it states that
infants learn from experimenting and their main focus is what is happening in that very moment.
My prediction was correct. As soon as I held the keys in front of her she began to reach for them.
Then once I handed the keys to her, she rattled them making a clanging noise.
The preoperational stage is when infants become older, young children and they are able to think
in a more symbolic way. In this stage children start to learn the difference between real and make
believe, past and future. They tend to have more of an imagination as they grow older. Children in
the preoperational stage still are not completely logical with their thinking. They go more off
intuition. Do more of what they want to do, not what is the best thing to do. They are still too
young to grasp the concept of cause and effect. They also do not understand time and comparison
yet.
My niece, Arianna, plays house and has baby dolls. She pretends like she is a mother to her baby
dolls. Even though this is make believe she is playing the role of a mother to her baby doll. This
connects to Piaget s developmental stage of preoperational because her thinking is not completely
logical, but she knows that the baby is not actually real. I think that this is how most little

How Did King George III Influence His Government
King George III A lot of people know about King George III. Some people haven t even heard his
name before; however he made a big impact and he should be well known. King George III s
father was strong headed man when it came to the government. His father grew up thinking he
need to restore the constitutional power of the monarchy. When George III had a say in the
government, his father was against him. They hated each other and never had a close
relationship. Being the eldest of his family George III was different than his father by far. We

That is what most people know him for (Pavao). During the Revolutionary War the king placed a
stamp act on any shipments of tea, ink, and more. The colonists were furious, they were
planning an attack. The King was expecting this to happen, he sent guards over to the colonies to
watch for any plot making or attacks getting ready to happen. The colonists dressed up as
Indians and attacked a shipment of tea that was under the stamp act. They dumped all the tea
into the harbor. It was called the Boston Tea Party. It made King George furious. Not only was
there fighting between guards and the colonists. The colonists split into two groups, the loyalists
who were loyal to the king. The patriots were against the king, and wanted to be individual. The
American Revolution presented George III with a crisis that seemed to destroy all he had
worked to achieve (Reitan). King George was so stressed with so much happening at one time. It
made him go mad with illness. George III s long struggle to maintain the independent role of the
monarch was frustrated by the growth of cabinet government and the increasing power of
Parliament. George III could not stop the evolution of the British constitution (Reitan). He went
crazy and was sick. In 1809 the king became blind. As early as 1765 he had suffered an apparent
dementia (Funk Wagnall s New World Encyclopedia). He lost

Jack Whittaker Winning The Lottery Research Paper
Millions of dollars and Millions of problems A lottery is a gamble in which participants pay an
amount to obtain an opportunity at winning a large prize during a drawing (Lotteries). Lotteries
in the United States can date back to as far as 1612 when it was used to provide funds for a newly
created settlement in the country. A single person or several individuals can win a lotteryif they
concur with the correct number or sequence of numbers selected in a drawing. Today, winning the
lottery is something most people desire and wish they had the good fortune for since it would
bring in a large sum of money. The mathematical likelihood of someone winning the lottery on a
single ticket is one in 175 million (Wasserstein). Despite this small possibility of winning the
lottery, Jack Whittaker happened to be the one in 175 million when he won the lottery in 2002, for
$315 million. The effects of Whittaker winning the lottery affected his financial stability, family

Scene Analysis Paper
Musical Dependency The 2002 film, The Pianist directed by Roman Polanski focuses on the
hardships of a well known, local concert pianist, Wladyslaw Szpilman. Wladyslaw Szpilman is
played by actor Adrien Brody, who does an excellent job portraying both the warmhearted side of
Szpliman and the desperate struggling side we see later on in the film. The film is based on
Szpilman s book, The Pianist where he discusses true events he underwent during the German
takeover of Warsaw. He was one of twenty survivors out of the 360,000 Jewish people killed from
Warsaw, Poland. Passion for Survival in Polanski s The Pianist by Diana Diamond... Show more

He is even limping because he was hurt just by jumping over a five foot fence. Szpilman has
gone through every obstacle to be thrown at him until he breaks. Stumbling through this huge
house he finds a single can of food and eagerly begins to search for something to open it. He
finally comes across a fireplace poker. As he tries to stab his way into the can it falls to the
ground and the camera enters an extreme close up on it. By using a close up we have nothing
else to look at and nothing else to think about aside from this fallen can. Suddenly we see feet
and the camera slowly tilts upward creating suspense until it reaches an extremely calm yet
serious German officer. The officer speaks, What are you doing here? At first, Szpilman at a loss
for words, in fear does not answer. Who are you? the officer asks, Understand?
When Szpilman assures him he does the officer repeats, What are you doing?
I was... trying to open this can. Szpilman mumbles out.

Soon after the officer asks, What do you do?
I am... I was, a pianist Szpilman responds with every bit of dignity he has left. (2:01 2:03)
The man standing in this scene looks entirely different from the spirited concert pianist we knew.
It is almost hard for the audience to view Szpilman as the same man from the beginning of the
film. However, with the proper use of dialogue Polanski reminds us he is still that man, he is a
pianist. The scene directly following is used in

Pepsico Case Study
Introduction The Uniform Commercial Code defines a contract as the total legal obligation which
results from the parties agreement as affected by the Uniform Commercial code or any other
applicable rules of law (Liuzzo, 2016, p.106). The purpose a contract is to create an oral or written
agreement between two parties. In the mid 1990 s PepsiCo. ran a promotional campaign Pepsi Stuff,
(nonfps, 2007). The campaign attempts to engage and reward the consumer who bought PepsiCo
products. Consumers would earn Pepsi points for any Pepsi products they bought. When a person

This includes such information as when, where, and why the offer would take place. However,
according to the UCC if one or more terms, are not in the contract the offer may not be invalid as
long as the offer is definite and certain (Liuzzo, 2016). Second an offer must be communicated to
the offeree. This is so the offeree is adequately informed prior to making their decision. The
offeror communicates the offer orally or written to the offeree (Liuzzo, 2016). Lastly, an offer
has to be made with a genuine intention that the offeror will be bound by it (Liuzzo, 2016). The
offer cannot be made in anger or jest or under severe emotional strain (Liuzzo, 2016). For
example, if a boss jokes that he would sell his house to the next person who bought him a coffee,
and then his assistant bought him a coffee, it is very unlikely that she would be able to sue in for

The, And, By Stephen Krasner And John Ruggie s...
Many of the authors of the readings for this week seem to be writing past each other. While all of
these readings come from a 10 year time span and discuss multilateralism and/or sovereignty, there
are stark distinctions in who or what is being discussed as the referent object of international
relations or world order. This begs the question, can we read, for instance, Stephen Krasner and
Robert Cox in dialogue with each other or are they writing on the same general topic, but from such
distinct frameworks that the discussion ultimately collapses? Even if the discussion does collapse,
is there something worthwhile in attempting to engage these authors? This paper attempts to place
the authors from this weeks readings in conversation. In doing so, it becomes clear that Krasner and
John Ruggie s conceptions of international relationsare shortsighted and problematic. However,
Craig Murphy, Sol Picciotto, Cox, and Claire Cutler all have beneficial insights into global
governance. In particular, Cox s contention that multilateralism has been effective in
institutionalizing a liberal economic order that should not be understood as synonymous with
international cooperation aids us in our consideration of world order. Krasner defines the sovereign
statemodel as a system of political authority based on territory, mutual recognition, autonomy, and
control (2001, 18). Krasner uses this definition, not to promote the sovereign statemodel as the
global modus operandi (or so

A Comprehensive Analysis Of Davidson s Article,...
In Mark Davidson s article, Displacement, Space and Dwelling: Placing Gentrification Debate ,
he cites several contemporary case studies where certain deteriorated areas have been targeted
for redevelopment and subsequent evictions have taken place. Using several philosophical
authors, such as Heidegger and Lefebvre, Davidson s focuses on the effect spatial metaphors
have on displacement, and how these concepts tie into the conceptualization of space. In this
paper I will compile a thorough summary of the article and formulate a comprehensive analysis
of Davidson s arguments as well as his sources. Davidson begins his article with arguably one of
the most notable and recent subjects of gentrification, 1520 Sedgwick, the birthplace of Hip Hop.
This dilapidated apartment building s owners announced they planned to leave New York State s
Mitchell Lama programe (pg. 2), which would result in the current residents evictions. Essentially
the program offered tax incentives to building owners who limit equity to maintain low cost units.
However, in lieu of tax incentives many building owners have elected to leave the program in
order to make more profit via higher costing units, which current residents cannot afford. In the
case of 1520 Sedgwick current and former residents, such as the credited father of Hip Hop Kool
Herc, have veiled their mission to prevent the gentrification process from consuming their building
by petitioning for a historic listing as well as offering to

Bridge Of Spies Essay
In the land of cinema, often times the words inspired by true events will be flashed upon the
screen before diving into a film that covers a historical event. General audiences are led to
believe that is a common precursor to movies in this genre, but really it is a way in which
screenplay writers and directors cop out of the stress of being exacting when it comes to the
historical accuracy of the piece. The U 2 plane incident and the events that transpired afterwards
made up a devastating time in american history, yet paved the path for new protocols when
dealing with nations in which we are at odds with. Bridge of Spies is a masterful film in which
these events take place, and while it does cover the gargantuan array of information, there... Show

Thanks to his tenacity towards defending Abel in court, James Donovan was approached by the
CIA to be an arbitrator in a prisoner swap. The details were simple; Abel for Powers. However, as
Donovan looked into the details of the prisoners in the USSR and East Berlin, he caught word of a
young, american economics student who was recently taken prisoner. By the film s interpretation,
Fredric Pryor was in East Berlin on the very day the Berlin Wall was being constructed. In an effort
to harbor his professor and the professor s daughter over to West Berlin, Pryor gets wrapped up at
the new demarcation, and is taken into the custody of the German Democratic Republic. In a
recent interview with Fredric, he denounced this series of events, stating that he was in Denmark
on Vacation (Dougherty 1). Once again, the movies events are altered ever so slightly in order to
fit a more captivating story line. On top of this obvious misconstrued storyline, Fredric also said
parts of [Bridge of Spies] were inaccurate (Dougherty 2). This statement is only up to a fault, yet
this is the most damning evidence presented that shows the movie is not a perfect representation.

Women In Sixteenth Century Verona
Smith argues that the gendered domestic spaces, both the idealistic and realistic, of sixteenth
century Verona shows the influence of women on the Renaissance material culture. Smith chose to
focus on Verona and the sixteenth century because although they were behind in their palace
building Verona has more documents pertaining to movable wealth. Women in this time were
becoming wealthier because of large dowries and increasingly being named in wills of family
members, contributing to the movable wealth. The growing wealth of women led to numerous
treatises being written on domestic matters. These treatises contrasted two types of women, the

Due Date: April 14, 2015 Beliefs cannot be validated, and for this reason, people believe in what
they choose to. This paves way to question the existence of God, the existence of an omnipotent
and omniscient being. Given that the Divine is beyond sensory experience, there are questions
and controversies regarding His existence. Views on God s existence can be placed on a
spectrum: on one end, those who accept a divine power, and on the other, those who reject it. In
this essay, I argue that God exists.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, belief in God requires faith. Faith is needed in order for one to accept the existence of
the Divine. The existence of God is controversial (and unlikely) for one who has no basis of faith.
This is because reason cannot explain faith. Reason cannot explain the existence of something
that it has no basis for. This relates back to Descartes cogito ergo sum, meaning, I think, therefore
I am. Although Descartes was concerned with knowledge of the individual, this can relate to
God. To think that there exists a God inherently assumes that there is such a force in the universe.
Given that religion is a collective practice and an act of obedience to God performed by many
people for centuries, it seems horrendous to assume that so many people have been wrong about
their experience and belief. One can come to this conclusion through deduction by moving from
general to specific; millions of people cannot simply be wrong in believing that there is a

Does simply washing of hand with soap reduce the spread of diseases?
Introduction
According to world health organisation report (2015), hand washing is the simple act of cleaning
the hands with or without water and soap. It requires the use of water and soap to remove dirt
form the hands (World Health Organisation, 2015). Evidence has shown that diarrhoea is the
leading course of death in young children and it is in every way linked to poor hand hygiene
(Ejemot RI, 2008). Diarrhoea according to World Health Organization (WHO) is defined as 3 or
more loose or watery stools per day, which is rather not normal as it should be in a normal
individual. There are different types of nosocomial infections and according to (LV, 1993) the most
common nosocomial infection is the nosocomial diarrhoea depending on the duration of
hospitalisation, exposure to antibiotics and poor hand hygiene. Based on researches that have been
done and also in recent times, frequent hand washing is thought to be the most effective way of
preventing transmission of diseases. However not all studies agreed to the effectiveness of hand

Thesis For Mending Wall
Is there an object in your life that brings you and a friend together? In Mending Wall written by
Robert Frost, two neighbors come together every year to repair the wall that divides their property.
They do not have any livestock to keep off of each others property but they still come together
every year. They say that it keeps them staying up in each others lives and help to maintain their
friendship. The narrator of this poem is trying to convince these two that there is no point in this
wall because it is not keeping anything off of each others property. The neighbors try to convince
them otherwise. Finding common ground between two people helps build strong relationships. The
author shows this by the dialogue between the narrator and the neighbors, the symbol of the wall,
and third idea. In this poem, the main characters, the neighbors, are in a constant battle with the
narrator. They try explaining to the narrator how this wall has brought them together. It allows them
to stay up in each others lives and keep their friendship stable. The neighbors share with the narrator
that this wall is not pointless. This wall keeps them together but the narrator is still unable to see

Business Portfolio Objectives And Constraints
EXHIBIT 8: CREATING A CUSTOMISED BENCHMARK WITH BUSINESS PORTFOLIO
OBJECTIVES AND CONSTRAINTS A major stumbling point within benchmark creation is that
the mandates of the benchmark must match the mandates of the portfolio; this issue is often
raised when a portion of the portfolio is Buy and Maintain To control for this, partition the
portfolio into two blocks: Block ND is Buy and Maintain (Non Discretionary) and so the portfolio
manager should be measured by credit migration and default relative to market over portfolio

For example, regulated utilities will lend themselves more naturally to a Buy and Maintain

business cycle and that offers strong full phase average performance over its lifetime. Sector
selection There are four main phases to a normal market cycle. The recovery phase often sees strong
growth, low interest rates and growth in corporate profits. Sectors sensitive to interest rates and to
economic growth such as financials, industrials, information technology, and materials should do
well. In the middle phase of the cycle, positive GDP growth, strong credit growth and healthy
corporate profitability tends to still favor more economically sensitive sectors, such as information
technology and industrials. In contrast, later in the cycle, building inflationary pressures have often

technically part of the real estate industry; these politician should step down from businessmen to

United States, every one in three people are affected from E. coli disease or some other stomach

major small steps we can all contribute to is start a change in our community; by influencing others

`` Tobacco Road `` By Erskine Caldwell
Flaws can Define a Person
How can a single word chose a person s actions and dramatically change their life? In Erskine
Caldwell s Tobacco Road the Lester family goes through a lot in a one week span. Through the
struggles with poverty and barely surviving life. This family shows that the wants are much more
profitable in the long hall. As the story continues, a tragic reality check come upon this Lester family
. In Tobacco Road, Caldwell illustrates how both poverty and lust causes conflict based on the
choices one makes in an attempt to make life better.
Poverty is a lifestyle that can be changed by simply the choices one makes. Toward the end of
chapter seven the narrator talks about Jeeter s life and how he came to inherit the land of the
Tobacco Road. Caldwell states that by the time Jeeter was old enough to work in the fields, the
land had become such a great item of expense that most of it was allowed to grow up into pines
(86). Since Jeeter took on this huge project of running his own cotton farm. He might knew that
since his grandfather started it and then was passed down to his father and then onto him, he was
obligated to continue on the Lester tradition of farming. As a child Jeeter knew he always wanted
to keep the farm alive and continue the production of cotton coming from the Lester farm land.
With working a farm and trying to put food on the table was a difficult task that he could not rise
and meet the challenge. As time went on Jeeter hated that he could

Foster points out that the weather plays a critical role in a work of literature. Whether it be for plot
development or for a democratic reason, rain, snow, or fog plays a significant role in literature. In

The history of more than fifty million Latinos in the United States is your history too, Suarez
stated in his book. His argument was that no matter how you see it, the Latin culture is part of
your life in the US no matter what ethnicity you are. He wrote this book to let his readers learn
and know about the Latino history in the territories, where it is now considered as California, New
Mexico, Arizona, and Texas. Suarez wants his readers to know that the Spanish culture has been
in those areas ever since the people of Mexico City traveled North in search for gold. He reveals
this by stating that the first language heard in those territories was Spanish and the earliest land
titles were granted to Spanish families (Suarez). Some Americans may not believe the fact about
Spain owning part of the land; however, there is evidence that supports that fact. There are literally
signs around California, Texas, and etc. that demonstrates the Spanish language. Suarez states that
more Americans unwittingly speak Spanish every day, heading into a Luby s luncheonette in El

This report is concerned with the effects of teacher professionalization on elementary and secondary
teachers in the United States(Clabaugh and Rozycki, 1986). There is a general perception that there
is a marked change in the context of education in general and teacher education in particular. In a
world that increasingly values specialization, teachers were found to be lacking in expertise in their
respective fields of specialization. It is also recognized that there is a shift in educational emphasis
from what to learn to how to learn brought about by an accelerating pace in the production of
knowledge triggered by the intensifying and pervading scientific and technological revolution. But
studies show that teachers do not have the appropriate learning tools such as communication,
problem solving, and thinking skills to respond to such trends(Yeban,2002). Yeban (2002)
continued that new imperatives are forcing teacher education institutions to re visit and re think
their assumptions, theories, and practices about the kind of teachers that must be produced. The
current curriculum where the respondents of the study belong is deemed insufficient to address
these concerns. Issues such as the growing gap between theory and practice, failure to make teachers

People can have two opposing emotions such as love and hate. This is accuratly protrayed

problems with us. They re bringing drugs. They re bringing crime. They re rapists. And some, I
assume, are good people. ( Here s Donald Trump s Presidential Announcement Speech )
Mr. Trump s comments reignited a nationwide debate over illegal immigrationfrom Mexico to the
United States. The issue quickly became one of the most controversial matters facing the candidates
on their 2016 quest for the White House. Republican and Democratic contenders alike have
struggled to devise practical solutions for this complex issue. Some are advocating for providing a
path to citizenship to illegal aliens; others are calling for widespread deportations of all
undocumented immigrants; and some are even pushing for the construction of a wall along the
southern border of the nation. Instead, the land of opportunity should open its doors and welcome
all those wishing to emigrate from Mexico with open arms. In addition, Legislators should work
together to enact bipartisan, common sense immigration reform that includes offering most of the
migrants already in the country all of the rights associated with full citizenship in the United States.
Although immigration is certainly an important issue in the 2016 election, it is

Analysis Of Santa Clause Is Coming To Town
The song, Santa Claus is Coming to Town is a very happy and cheerful song that is played
during the month of December to bring out the Christmas spirit in people. The history behind it
is how two men got their big break and made one of the most played Christmas songs of all time.
The song was originally written by John Frederick Coots and composed by Haven Gillespie on
October 1933. Gillespie was in charge of expressing his gift of writing children s song lyrics
while Coots came up with the tune that caught the attention of young children. The two came up
with the song while riding a subway car in New York. The two men had a masterpiece in their
hands, but needed someone to produce it. Many artists passed on the song because they didn t
believe the it would hit big on the charts and would be difficult to sell, especially since it was a
song for kids. Coots at the time was a writer for Eddie Cantor and tried to persuade him to sing
the song live on his radio station. Cantor was undecided on whether to sing it, but his wife
eventually convinced him to give the song a chance. He ended up performing it live on
November 1934 on his radio station and brought huge publicity to the song. After it was aired on
the radio station, the song blew up. People from all over were requesting to hear the song over
and over again. It sold over 400,00 copies and 300,00 of those were sold within the first 24 hours.
The song made the writers millionaires with hundreds of copies being sold. It

Big Business vs. Labor, 1870-1925
Reunited by the Union victory in the Civil War, America faced an era of reconstruction during
which the value of the individual was reanalyzed and redefined in law. After the reconstruction, a
sense of peace and prosperity calmed the American people. Given hope by their success in
maintaining the Union, the Progressive Era ensued. The previously forgotten vision of Alexander
Hamilton was reborn and finally implemented. America was no longer the land of the yeoman
farmer. Denizens of rural areas moved to the city and sought to work in the gradually industrializing
regions of the country. As big business gained power, the laborers sought to achieve the American
Dream of economic prosperity through self improvement in a laissez faire economy.... Show more

There was an obvious and dangerous amount of corruption that allowed big business to control the
federal government. What a funny little government! Fig. 3. Cartoon by Horace Taylor, The
Verdict, Sept. 25, 1899 Horace Taylor puts his opinion into prospective with this political cartoon.
Businesses became more powerful than the government itself, which was too afraid to interfere in
the exploitation. One such exploitation was the creation of corporation. Corporations were
designed to limit the liabilities of its shareholders and thusly minimize the loss of capital by
criminalizing only the legal entity, rather than its underlying workers. Thusly, legal suits and such
became nearly useless against the incorporated. Additionally, as corporations grew unchecked, they
found other ways to control competition. The railroad industry, the first big business of America,
used pools and rebates to maximize profit but decrease competition В– a principal not part of
capitalism. Progress was slowed by the lack of competition, but the pursuit of wealth helped
maintain it or a time. The trust was similar to a pool, but trusts were far more hierarchal and were
used by corporations rather than regions. Having all the power in the world, businesses could grow
and do whatever they wanted without worrying about the government ceasing their progress. Big
businesses were often unscrupulous and exploitative of the working class. Such exploitation

My Childhood During The Dust Bowl
Genesis Suarez
ENGL100 BL3, Essay #2 outline
Professor Cute
October 29, 2015
My childhood during the dust bowl in 1931, wasn t as joyful and fun as the childhood kids, have
these days. I m showing and informing you, my daughter, what the life of the dust bowl was like
through the eyes of a child, and how my life was influenced greatly. I ve witnessed and experienced
my family slowly falling apart and all my parents hard work get taken away in heartbeat. I had no
control over this and it affected my life significantly. Even though people who were alive during the
dust bowl were greatly affected, the ones who were drastically affected were the children. We
experienced our families hard work vanish in a heartbeat, we were psychologically, mentally, and
emotionally affected and experienced our families fall apart.
Families during the dust bowl suffered from not having enough money to support their families. I
would watch grandma and grandpa struggle everyday, but they would always manage to keep a
smile on their face for uncle Joe and I. The families then, didn t make enough money to put food
on the table for themselves let alone their family. Which then would have the kids like me; go to
bed starving and without being fed. Which affected a lot of the children psychologically, mentally,
and emotionally. NO matter how hard grandma and grandpa tried, it just wasn t enough back then.
We saw them not being able to provide for our family. I would see some of the children drink

Rhyme Scheme Of The Tyger By William Blake
William Blake was more than just a poet. He was an artist, a politician and a theologian. Blake
was born in 1757 and died in 1827, He was known for his artistic talent and political involvement.
Born in to a middle class family in London, Blake was one of 7 children born to his family, but
only 5 of them survived past infancy. Blake did not receive any formal schooling and mostly spent
his days wandering the streets of London (PoetryFdn.). When he was ten he was enrolled in art
school for multiple years and when he was 14 he became an apprentice engraver to James Basire
(Poetry Fdn.). His work as an engraver allowed him to make money and continue to hone his
artistic ability. Blakes artistry is clearly seen in most of his poems, whether its his early political
works such as America or his classic lyric poems like The Tyger. (Poetry Fdn.). In The Tyger
William Blake unconventionally questions the creation of the world through rhymescheme, deep
imagery, and conflicting ideas.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem is a trochaic tetrameter meaning it consists of 8 syllables per line starting with a
stressed then unstressed syllable. The rhyming pattern of the poem is aabb, ccdd, eeff, gghh,
iijj, and then ending with a repeated aabb. The interesting thing about The Tyger is that it
contains a catalexis, which means that the last foot of every line is missing a syllable. Blake
uses the catalexis in The Tyger to stress certan images, such as In what distant deeps or skies.
/ Burnt the fire of thine eyes? (Lines 5 6). The readers are left with these vivid details that keep
the poem interesting. Another purpose of the catalexis is in keeping the poem abrupt. It gives the
poem a harsh almost aggressive tone, one that reflects the speaker s view of the tiger and the God
who made it. Blake uses the structure of the poem to fit the aggressive tone he writes

Common Core Principles Of Person Centred Care
This presentation is going to talk about person centred care, confidentiality, respecting privacy and
dignity and protecting from risks and harm. The common core principles are important to every
Health and Social Care setting as they provide a basis for a general understanding of promoting
good mental health and recognising signs of poor mental health among everyone receiving care
and support. The aim of care home are to meet the identified needs of individuals who live in that
home. An older personmight need to live in that care home for years. It is important for staff to be
aware of responsibilities in delivering care to support the individuals who live at that home. These
common principles of health will help develop the workforce that respond confidently to the
individuals and supporting the life they are leading.

maintains between the individuals and the organisation. An environment of trust encourages people
to be open and honest with those who care for them. They provide all the details necessary so that
they receive the best care possible. The employers are accountable to the regulators for protecting
confidentiality .Preserving privacy and confidentiality is essential so that they do not risk the

Ivan Niven s Proof Of Pi Being Irrational
Ivan Niven s Proof of Pi Being Irrational The proof of pi being irrational can be done by
contradiction. To do this, Niven first assumed that ПЂ =a / b, for relatively prime integers, a and b.
He then created a polynomial function of power 2n that depends on the constant a and b. Next,
define the polynomial for a constant integern, which Ivan Niven used in his proof:
This function f(x) has properties that are required in proving that pi is irrational. One property is
that when f(x) =0; then f(x) = f(ПЂ x) : For the polynomial n!f(x) = xn(a bx)n, the term (a bx)n can
be expanded into a new polynomial with integer coefficients ranging from power 0 to n using the
binomial theorem. Each of these terms get multiplied by the term xn. Thus, ... Show more content

Lastly, Niven showed how the integral of f(x) sin(x) cannot always be an integer for all n values.
Since sin(x) is always bounded between 0 and 1 when x is bounded between 0 and ПЂ, it can be
stated that f(x) sin(x) f(x). Niven used what he has stated before: f(x) = xn(a bx)n/n!, and showed
how that (a bx) a when x is bounded between 0 and ПЂ. From this Niven stated that must be a
smaller value than (a)n. Similarly, when x is bounded between 0 and ПЂ, the term xn must be
between 0 and ПЂn. Niven took all of these properties and functions and stated

Medic Vs Emt Research Paper
Medic VS. EMT
You are a bystander to an accident on the road. You notice a person pleading for help as they are
screaming in pain, what do you do? Well, it honestly depends on which profession you have
chosen: Medic or EMT? When I compare being a Medic in the United States Military to being a
civilian EMT; I think that being a Medic is better. Upon comparing the credentials and future
availability to attain additional credentials, individual capabilities, and impact on health of those
treated, I believe that you too will agree with the idea that being a Medic is more beneficial.
First, we will discuss being a Civilian EMT. To be an EMT an individual must complete an EMT
program through a technical school or college. After completion of the course the individual is
required to pass a state test. After passing the state ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To be a Medic, and individual would complete 10 weeks of basic training, followed by 16 weeks
of Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) training at Advanced Individual Training (AIT)
which consisted of EMT training completing the National Registry of Emergency Medical
Technicians (NREMT) test and field or trauma training. The Medic must recert the NREMT
every 2 years after completing a preset number of hours of continuing education units and a
Table VIII training. Medics work under their provider s license and their scope of practice is
determined by that provider and what they are comfortable with. Medics can take additional
trainings such as Advanced Cardivascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life
Support (PALS) just to name a few. Medics can administer IV Fluids and some medications with
provider approval. Provide basic CPR among other things provider specific, such as some teach
their medics how to do chest tubes. The military in conjunction with schools offer hybrid programs
in nursing to medics. They also have programs like IPAP for PhysicianAssistant (PA)

Corporate Roles, Personal Virtues, And The Good Life
In the Corporate Roles, Personal Virtues: An Aristotelean Approach to Business Ethics, Robert
Solomon argues that toughness is a virtue, but callousness and indifference is not. Solomon views
the Aristotle approach the proper way, because it considers both personal and business values.
However, Albert Carr argues that business and personal ethicsdon t mix; and game strategy in
business leads to success. In this paper, I will argue that Carr prevails Solomon s business ethics
and his claim.
Aristotle is a philosopher that is known for his interest in virtue ethics, but is more recognized for
his business ethics (Solomon 67). Before explaining the latter, Aristotle explains the role of the
virtues in ethics and the good life through: community, excellence, role identity, integrity, judgement
(phronesis), holism. The Aristotelean approach to community comes first, because we as an
individual find our identity through institutions. Darwinism s survival of the fittest and neo
Hobbesian s every man for themselves contradicts the Aristotelian view. Business and personal
agenda needs each other to be more productive; yet, the corporation one choose will determine the
level of happiness or eudaimonia. Solomon claims that business students now seek jobs that have
higher salaries, so he tells them, to live a decent life by choosing the right company (Solomon 70).

Caribbean, business

April Walker Essay
April Walker was a new student at St. Nicolau High School and so far it has not been what she
had expected it to be. When she first met her teacher Mrs. Johnson she embarrassed herself to
her and the whole class by slipping on the wet part of the floor. Everyone started laughing, April
also laughed with them trying to fit in with what the class is doing. When it was time for lunch
she sat alone while others were gossiping about her and how she goofed up on her first try. Mrs.
Johnson sat down next to April. I know that it s hard to fit in on the first few days or so but trust
me and our class, and they ll come to you sooner or later . That cheered up April, when she
walked back home with her brother Henry , he felt dizzy and very weak. His eyes also looked very
drowsy. Are you ok ? April asked . Huh ? Henry answered. Henry felt cramps and bruises forming
on his back. Henry felt straight to the ground. Henry, Henry, Henry ! Help ! When April s dad was
driving by he noticed April crying for help and Henry straight on the floor. He parked and ran
straight at them. Guys, what happened? While April explained what happened April s dad was
driving to the hospital. I hope we re not too late for Henry ! April said while crying sadly. When
they arrived the doctortook notes and examined his body. The doctorfound out he needed a severe
surgery that will be on his lifeline. When they were waiting April s mom showed up with a couple
of tears rushing down like a streamline through her face. What... Show more content on

In the various attempts to reach that common aspiration these movements went through a series of debates, controversies, tensions and strife which was indicative of the Protestant movement from its inception and which brought about the Reformation. The fourth factor that necessitates a new study is the fact that many existing analyses have been biased by the ideas and perceptions of Protestant leaders which have distorted the perception and development of the movement. The last reason McGrath gives for the need of a new study is the fact that Protestantism itself has changed in the last fifty years. This study brings to the reader and to the scholar an updated version of the present day Protestant movement, its impact in present day society and an analysis of its significance in the future of Christianity. McGrath s Christianity s Dangerous Idea attempts to tell the story of Protestantism from its early beginnings up to its present day form. A similar and parallel story is found in Justo Gonzalez s The Story of Christianity in which he also gives a narrative of the origin, growth and development of the Protestant movement from the Reformation to the present day. However, Gonzalez not only gives an account of Protestantism but of Christianity as a whole while McGrath concentrates his study on Protestantism alone. In addition, McGrath not only narrates but also gives a prophetic

The first year of study has afforded not only substantive knowledge of fundamental areas of the law, but also the rigor of the first year has helped to develop skills indispensable to the attainment of sound legal scholarship. Specifically, the considerable amount of reading required to establish a foundation of legal understanding has incidentally improved my time management, helped to fashion an efficient means of legal analysis, and most importantly it has enriched my legal writing ability. Also, the rigor of law school has inspired a passion to excel in my studies beyond any prior parameters contemplated. Moreover, the deadlock of ever present competition combined with a boundless ambition has emboldened me to work as diligently as ever before. The fruit of extensive legal reading became apparent during the preparation of an appellate brief for Legal Research and Writing in the spring of this year. The experience of reading and briefing sometimes archaic and arduous cases throughout the year was consequentially instrumental in the speedy completion of researching case law for the appellate brief. What is more, the analytical methodologies and legal lexicon garnered from learned jurists provided a framework in which my legal writing flourished. Notwithstanding this framework, an unparalleled drive to improve my writing ability contributed dramatically ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

County, Parks, Playgrounds, and Beaches for the Los Angeles Region, is the essence of the book. Going through the introductory parts made me realize that had this plan, which itself is extraordinary in its latitude and farsightedness, been implemented the congestive mass of concrete that represents Los Angeles in the modern times could have been avoided. To start with, the one element I liked the most about this plan is the parkways. It was important for Los Angeles to have a system of continuous landscaped parkways dedicated to pleasure travel and to act as lungs for a rather polluted city. Even though after going through the plan, I m not quite adamant on the fact that why was it dropped.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nonetheless, Hise and Deverell do show us the positive side of this inhumane corrupt elite behavior of the developers and political entrepreneurs and that they did struggle to improve the urban environment. This book explains essentially where we are today in the Los Angeles and such cities which lack the presence of usable parks, ironically by centering on what to avoid and what actually didn t happen. To complete it, I would say it is strange that even today, many of the same issues that beleaguered us about a century ago, still hang ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Thomas Paine And John Paine Essay Introduction Thomas Paine was born to Joseph Paine and Francis Cocke Paine in January, 1737. Paine s father was Quaker, and his mother was Anglican. The religious controversies haunted Paine throughout his life. His personal life ended in divorce and destitution. After barely avoiding debtor s prison in 1774, a mutual friend introduced Paine to Benjamin. This introduction would change the course of Paine s life. Franklin was immediately impressed with Paine and wrote a letter of introduction for him. Paine suffered physical illness on his journey that very nearly killed him, but he managed to survive the trip and arrived in Philadelphia September of 1774. After this new start, Paine began his career of publishing articles and pamphlets in the colonies. His first published essay was African Slavery in America. This article argued that slavery was unjust and inhumane. Paine also wrote and co edited the Pennsylvania Magazine. He used this format to express new ideas and learn about his audience. In January of 1776, Paine published Common Sense, which would unite his fellow colonists on a path to either freedom or high treason. Paine continued to publish throughout the ensuing revolution. He published a series of essays titled the American Crisis Papers. These sixteen papers flamed the embers kindled by Common Sense; they urged the colonists to fight against their perpetual enslavement by Great Britain. • 10. Child Prostitution Should Not Be Punished For Their Children By: Aroob Fatima Do you remember your childhood? You must be recalling stories of afternoons on the playground with your friends or that heavenly feeling of eating freezies on a hot, summer day. Did the memory of child prostitution run through your mind? No? How about having your rights and innocence completely stripped away from you? About ten million children are involved in prostitution worldwide (B.Willis, 2002), with India consisting of one million child prostitutes; forty percent the country s total prostitution population (CNN, 2009). In most cases, children are kidnapped and forced into prostitution or take part in what is known as survival sex to provide basic needs for their family. But what happens when a child prostitute finally comes across a police officer whom they believe have come to their rescue? They get arrested. Children forced into the sex trade should not be punished for their actions, but instead, should be provided with assistance to cope with the severe mental trauma they face. Many government officials and police officers don t recognize child prostitutes as victims of sexual abuse but treated as offenders who need to be punished for their crime. According to a 2011 FBI report, about two hundred thousand U.S. children are at risk of being exploited and trafficked for sex. The majority of these children are girls between the ages of twelve and fourteen and in foster care. The government suggests that child welfare systems should be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Optical Filters Used For Edge Detection In image processing, a Gabor filter, named after Dennis Gabor, is a linear filter used for edge detection. Frequency and orientation representations of Gabor filters are similar to those of the human visual system, and they have been found to be particularly appropriate for texture representation and discrimination. In the spatial domain, a 2D Gabor filter is a Gaussian kernel function modulated by a sinusoidal plane wave. Simple cells in the visual cortex of mammalian brains can be modeled by Gabor functions.[1][2] Thus, image analysis with Gabor filters is thought to be similar to perception in the human visual system. A set of Gabor filters with different frequencies and orientations may be helpful for extracting useful features from an image.[7] In the discrete domain, two dimensional Gabor filters are given by, G_c[i,j]=B e^{ frac{(i^2+j^2)}{2sigma^2}}cos(2pif(icosheta+jsinheta)) G_s[i,j]=C e^{ frac{(i^2+j^2)}{2sigma^2}}sin(2pif(icosheta+jsinheta)) where B and C are normalizing factors to be determined. 2 D Gabor filters have rich applications in image processing, especially in feature extraction for texture analysis and segmentation.[8] f defines the frequency being looked for in the texture. By varying heta, we can look for texture oriented in a particular direction. By varying sigma, we change the support of the basis or the size of the image region being analyzed. A LASER is produced through the using energy to excite atoms trapped within a space surrounded by mirrors. The atoms will emit photons that will recoil off the mirrors, the more activity in this space the more photons will be released, as it will increase the excitement of other atoms. In one section of the codified are area a partial mirror is used allowing a singular been of photons to be released, hence the LASERbeam. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The efficiency of the LASER can be seen as the output ranges from 9 to 11 m (Whitehouse, n.d.). The gas discharge consists of multiple frequencies in the near IR to the mid IR ranges. The Carbon Dioxide molecule is symmetric and linear, consisting of the carbon atom s balance with the two oxygen atoms: O C O (Whitehouse, n.d.). Due to this triatomic (n=3) nature of the molecule under principle it must have 4 vibrational modes, established by the 3n 5 relation of linear molecules. Figure 1 depicts symmetric stretching mode v1, doubly bending mode v2 and the asymmetric stretching mode v3 (Polfer, 2016). When each mode is in a ground state the quantum vibrational is noted as 000, compared to 001, in which the first excited mode is the asymmetric stretching mode, while the others are at the ground state. Figure 2 depicts the CO2 LASER s energy diagram. The excitation of N2 into its first vibration state is the result of discharge. The N2 atoms cannot relax back into ground state through spontaneous emission due to its limited dipole moment (Polfer, 2016). The CO2 molecule enters its first energy level of asymmetric stretch, 001, by collisions between N2 molecule and CO2 molecules at ground state. Stimulated emissions are activated from the 001 level to the 100 (symmetric stretching) and 020 (doubly bending mode) (Polfer, 2016). • 15. Piaget s Developmental Stages Essay Piaget s developmental stages are ways of normal intellectual development. There are four different stages. The stages start at infant age and work all the way up to adulthood. The stages include things like judgment, thought, and knowledge of infants, children, teens, and adults. These four stages were names after Jean Piageta developmental biologist and psychologist. Piaget recorded intellectual abilities and developments of infants, children, and teens. The four different stages of Piaget s developmental stages are sensorimotor, preoperational, concrete operational, and formal operational. Sensorimotor is from birth up to twenty four months of age. Preoperational which is toddlerhood includes from eighteen months old all the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I handed my infant niece, Harper, a set of keys, thinking she would shake them and giggle at the noise they made. I thought this because in Piaget s developmental stage, sensorimotor, it states that infants learn from experimenting and their main focus is what is happening in that very moment. My prediction was correct. As soon as I held the keys in front of her she began to reach for them. Then once I handed the keys to her, she rattled them making a clanging noise. The preoperational stage is when infants become older, young children and they are able to think in a more symbolic way. In this stage children start to learn the difference between real and make believe, past and future. They tend to have more of an imagination as they grow older. Children in the preoperational stage still are not completely logical with their thinking. They go more off intuition. Do more of what they want to do, not what is the best thing to do. They are still too young to grasp the concept of cause and effect. They also do not understand time and comparison yet. My niece, Arianna, plays house and has baby dolls. She pretends like she is a mother to her baby dolls. Even though this is make believe she is playing the role of a mother to her baby doll. This connects to Piaget s developmental stage of preoperational because her thinking is not completely logical, but she knows that the baby is not actually real. Some people haven t even heard his name before; however he made a big impact and he should be well known. King George III s father was strong headed man when it came to the government. His father grew up thinking he need to restore the constitutional power of the monarchy. When George III had a say in the government, his father was against him. They hated each other and never had a close relationship. Being the eldest of his family George III was different than his father by far. The colonists dressed up as Indians and attacked a shipment of tea that was under the stamp act. They dumped all the tea into the harbor. It was called the Boston Tea Party. It made King George furious. Not only was there fighting between guards and the colonists. The colonists split into two groups, the loyalists who were loyal to the king. King George was so stressed with so much happening at one time. It made him go mad with illness. A single person or several individuals can win a lotteryif they concur with the correct number or sequence of numbers selected in a drawing. Pepsico Case Study Introduction The Uniform Commercial Code defines a contract as the total legal obligation which results from the parties agreement as affected by the Uniform Commercial code or any other applicable rules of law (Liuzzo, 2016, p.106). The purpose a contract is to create an oral or written agreement between two parties. In the mid 1990 s PepsiCo. ran a promotional campaign Pepsi Stuff, (nonfps, 2007). The campaign attempts to engage and reward the consumer who bought PepsiCo products. Consumers would earn Pepsi points for any Pepsi products they bought. However, according to the UCC if one or more terms, are not in the contract the offer may not be invalid as long as the offer is definite and certain (Liuzzo, 2016). Second an offer must be communicated to the offeree. This is so the offeree is adequately informed prior to making their decision. The offeror communicates the offer orally or written to the offeree (Liuzzo, 2016). Lastly, an offer has to be made with a genuine intention that the offeror will be bound by it (Liuzzo, 2016). The offer cannot be made in anger or jest or under severe emotional strain (Liuzzo, 2016). For example, if a boss jokes that he would sell his house to the next person who bought him a coffee, and then his assistant bought him a coffee, it is very unlikely that she would be able to sue in for his house in court. Thus, if the offer is not made with any actual intent is not a valid offer (Liuzzo, 2016). Did PepsiCo make an offer? In order to determine if Pepsi, as the supposed offeror made to be an offer all three components of an offer must be analyzed. The first requirement an offer has to fulfill is that it is made on definite and certain terms. The offer did specify the quantity requirement of points to receive a Harrier Jet in their commercial (nonfps, 2007). While all of these readings come from a 10 year time span and discuss multilateralism and/or sovereignty, there are stark distinctions in who or what is being discussed as the referent object of international relations or world order. This begs the question, can we read, for instance, Stephen Krasner and Robert Cox in dialogue with each other or are they writing on the same general topic, but from such distinct frameworks that the discussion ultimately collapses? Even if the discussion does collapse, is there something worthwhile in attempting to engage these authors? This paper attempts to place the authors from this weeks readings in conversation. In doing so, it becomes clear that Krasner and John Ruggie s conceptions of international relationsare shortsighted and problematic. However, Craig Murphy, Sol Picciotto, Cox, and Claire Cutler all have beneficial insights into global governance. In particular, Cox s contention that multilateralism has been effective in institutionalizing a liberal economic order that should not be understood as synonymous with international cooperation aids us in our consideration of world order. Krasner defines the sovereign statemodel as a system of political authority based on territory, mutual recognition, autonomy, and control (2001, 18). • 23. A Comprehensive Analysis Of Davidson s Article,... In Mark Davidson s article, Displacement, Space and Dwelling: Placing Gentrification Debate , he cites several contemporary case studies where certain deteriorated areas have been targeted for redevelopment and subsequent evictions have taken place. Using several philosophical authors, such as Heidegger and Lefebvre, Davidson s focuses on the effect spatial metaphors have on displacement, and how these concepts tie into the conceptualization of space. In this paper I will compile a thorough summary of the article and formulate a comprehensive analysis of Davidson s arguments as well as his sources. Davidson begins his article with arguably one of the most notable and recent subjects of gentrification, 1520 Sedgwick, the birthplace of Hip Hop. This dilapidated apartment building s owners announced they planned to leave New York State s Mitchell Lama programe (pg. 2), which would result in the current residents evictions. Essentially the program offered tax incentives to building owners who limit equity to maintain low cost units. However, in lieu of tax incentives many building owners have elected to leave the program in order to make more profit via higher costing units, which current residents cannot afford. In the case of 1520 Sedgwick current and former residents, such as the credited father of Hip Hop Kool Herc, have veiled their mission to prevent the gentrification process from consuming their building by petitioning for a historic listing as well as offering to ... This paves way to question the existence of God, the existence of an omnipotent and omniscient being. Given that the Divine is beyond sensory experience, there are questions and controversies regarding His existence. Views on God s existence can be placed on a spectrum: on one end, those who accept a divine power, and on the other, those who reject it. In this essay, I argue that God exists.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, belief in God requires faith. Faith is needed in order for one to accept the existence of the Divine. The existence of God is controversial (and unlikely) for one who has no basis of faith. This is because reason cannot explain faith. Reason cannot explain the existence of something that it has no basis for. This relates back to Descartes cogito ergo sum, meaning, I think, therefore I am. Although Descartes was concerned with knowledge of the individual, this can relate to God. To think that there exists a God inherently assumes that there is such a force in the universe. Given that religion is a collective practice and an act of obedience to God performed by many people for centuries, it seems horrendous to assume that so many people have been wrong about their experience and belief. One can come to this conclusion through deduction by moving from general to specific; millions of people cannot simply be wrong in believing that there is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction According to world health organisation report (2015), hand washing is the simple act of cleaning the hands with or without water and soap. In Mending Wall written by Robert Frost, two neighbors come together every year to repair the wall that divides their property. They do not have any livestock to keep off of each others property but they still come together every year. They say that it keeps them staying up in each others lives and help to maintain their friendship. The narrator of this poem is trying to convince these two that there is no point in this wall because it is not keeping anything off of each others property. The neighbors try to convince them otherwise. Finding common ground between two people helps build strong relationships. The author shows this by the dialogue between the narrator and the neighbors, the symbol of the wall, and third idea. In this poem, the main characters, the neighbors, are in a constant battle with the narrator. They try explaining to the narrator how this wall has brought them together. His argument was that no matter how you see it, the Latin culture is part of your life in the US no matter what ethnicity you are. He wrote this book to let his readers learn and know about the Latino history in the territories, where it is now considered as California, New Mexico, Arizona, and Texas. He reveals this by stating that the first language heard in those territories was Spanish and the earliest land titles were granted to Spanish families (Suarez). Some Americans may not believe the fact about Spain owning part of the land; however, there is evidence that supports that fact. In a world that increasingly values specialization, teachers were found to be lacking in expertise in their respective fields of specialization. It is also recognized that there is a shift in educational emphasis from what to learn to how to learn brought about by an accelerating pace in the production of knowledge triggered by the intensifying and pervading scientific and technological revolution. But studies show that teachers do not have the appropriate learning tools such as communication, problem solving, and thinking skills to respond to such trends(Yeban,2002). Such behavior is studying the theory of games (game theory). This branch of mathematics is designed for analysis of equilibrium and possible strategies for the participants in the game situations, that means when the decision of one party affect the position of others. Game theory helps us understand oligopoly and other situations where players interact and behave strategically. The simplest case the game is a game between two players with two possible outcomes and simultaneous moves, called prisoner s dilemma . The essence of the game is as follows: Police caught two criminals accused of committing a crime, and conducts the questioning of each of them in different rooms. Criminals do not have the ability to communicate. The police want to be recognized for each of the perpetrators of a crime. Each of the criminals has two options indications: to confess to a crime or not to confess. If both the perpetrator confessed to the crime, then each receives 2 years in prison. If both do not admit of the criminal, the fully blocked fault is difficult to prove and each receives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. President Donald Trump s Presidential Campaign Businessman Donald J. Trump began his 2016 presidential campaign by saying, When Mexico sends its people, they re not sending their best. They re not sending you. They re not sending you. They re sending people that have lots of problems, and they re bringing those problems with us. They re bringing drugs. They re bringing crime. They re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people. ( Here s Donald Trump s Presidential Announcement Speech ) Mr. Trump s comments reignited a nationwide debate over illegal immigrationfrom Mexico to the United States. The issue quickly became one of the most controversial matters facing the candidates on their 2016 quest for the White House. Republican and Democratic contenders alike have struggled to devise practical solutions for this complex issue. Some are advocating for providing a path to citizenship to illegal aliens; others are calling for widespread deportations of all undocumented immigrants; and some are even pushing for the construction of a wall along the southern border of the nation. Instead, the land of opportunity should open its doors and welcome all those wishing to emigrate from Mexico with open arms. In addition, Legislators should work together to enact bipartisan, common sense immigration reform that includes offering most of the migrants already in the country all of the rights associated with full citizenship in the United States. Although immigration is certainly an important issue in the 2016 election, it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Analysis Of Santa Clause Is Coming To Town The song, Santa Claus is Coming to Town is a very happy and cheerful song that is played during the month of December to bring out the Christmas spirit in people. The history behind it is how two men got their big break and made one of the most played Christmas songs of all time. The song was originally written by John Frederick Coots and composed by Haven Gillespie on October 1933. Gillespie was in charge of expressing his gift of writing children s song lyrics while Coots came up with the tune that caught the attention of young children. The two came up with the song while riding a subway car in New York. The two men had a masterpiece in their hands, but needed someone to produce it. Many artists passed on the song because they didn t believe the it would hit big on the charts and would be difficult to sell, especially since it was a song for kids. Coots at the time was a writer for Eddie Cantor and tried to persuade him to sing the song live on his radio station. Cantor was undecided on whether to sing it, but his wife eventually convinced him to give the song a chance. He ended up performing it live on November 1934 on his radio station and brought huge publicity to the song. After it was aired on the radio station, the song blew up. People from all over were requesting to hear the song over and over again. It sold over 400,00 copies and 300,00 of those were sold within the first 24 hours. The song made the writers millionaires with hundreds of copies being sold. It ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Big Business vs. Labor, 1870-1925 Reunited by the Union victory in the Civil War, America faced an era of reconstruction during which the value of the individual was reanalyzed and redefined in law. After the reconstruction, a sense of peace and prosperity calmed the American people. Given hope by their success in maintaining the Union, the Progressive Era ensued. The previously forgotten vision of Alexander Hamilton was reborn and finally implemented. America was no longer the land of the yeoman farmer. Denizens of rural areas moved to the city and sought to work in the gradually industrializing regions of the country. As big business gained power, the laborers sought to achieve the American Dream of economic prosperity through self improvement in a laissez faire economy.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There was an obvious and dangerous amount of corruption that allowed big business to control the federal government. What a funny little government! Fig. 3. Cartoon by Horace Taylor, The Verdict, Sept. 25, 1899 Horace Taylor puts his opinion into prospective with this political cartoon. Businesses became more powerful than the government itself, which was too afraid to interfere in the exploitation. One such exploitation was the creation of corporation. Corporations were designed to limit the liabilities of its shareholders and thusly minimize the loss of capital by criminalizing only the legal entity, rather than its underlying workers. Thusly, legal suits and such became nearly useless against the incorporated. Additionally, as corporations grew unchecked, they found other ways to control competition. The railroad industry, the first big business of America, used pools and rebates to maximize profit but decrease competition В– a principal not part of capitalism. Progress was slowed by the lack of competition, but the pursuit of wealth helped maintain it or a time. The trust was similar to a pool, but trusts were far more hierarchal and were used by corporations rather than regions. Having all the power in the world, businesses could grow and do whatever they wanted without worrying about the government ceasing their progress. Big businesses were often unscrupulous and exploitative of the working class. Such exploitation occurred ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I m showing and informing you, my daughter, what the life of the dust bowl was like through the eyes of a child, and how my life was influenced greatly. I ve witnessed and experienced my family slowly falling apart and all my parents hard work get taken away in heartbeat. I had no control over this and it affected my life significantly. Even though people who were alive during the dust bowl were greatly affected, the ones who were drastically affected were the children. We experienced our families hard work vanish in a heartbeat, we were psychologically, mentally, and emotionally affected and experienced our families fall apart. Families during the dust bowl suffered from not having enough money to support their families. I would watch grandma and grandpa struggle everyday, but they would always manage to keep a smile on their face for uncle Joe and I. The families then, didn t make enough money to put food on the table for themselves let alone their family. Which then would have the kids like me; go to bed starving and without being fed. Which affected a lot of the children psychologically, mentally, and emotionally. NO matter how hard grandma and grandpa tried, it just wasn t enough back then. We saw them not being able to provide for our family. I would see some of the children drink ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The rhyming pattern of the poem is aabb, ccdd, eeff, gghh, iijj, and then ending with a repeated aabb. The interesting thing about The Tyger is that it contains a catalexis, which means that the last foot of every line is missing a syllable. Blake uses the catalexis in The Tyger to stress certan images, such as In what distant deeps or skies. / Burnt the fire of thine eyes? (Lines 5 6). The readers are left with these vivid details that keep the poem interesting. Another purpose of the catalexis is in keeping the poem abrupt. It gives the poem a harsh almost aggressive tone, one that reflects the speaker s view of the tiger and the God who made it. • 49. Ivan Niven s Proof Of Pi Being Irrational Ivan Niven s Proof of Pi Being Irrational The proof of pi being irrational can be done by contradiction. To do this, Niven first assumed that ПЂ =a / b, for relatively prime integers, a and b. He then created a polynomial function of power 2n that depends on the constant a and b. Next, define the polynomial for a constant integern, which Ivan Niven used in his proof: This function f(x) has properties that are required in proving that pi is irrational. One property is that when f(x) =0; then f(x) = f(ПЂ x) : For the polynomial n!f(x) = xn(a bx)n, the term (a bx)n can be expanded into a new polynomial with integer coefficients ranging from power 0 to n using the binomial theorem. Each of these terms get multiplied by the term xn. Thus, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lastly, Niven showed how the integral of f(x) sin(x) cannot always be an integer for all n values. Since sin(x) is always bounded between 0 and 1 when x is bounded between 0 and ПЂ, it can be stated that f(x) sin(x) f(x). Niven used what he has stated before: f(x) = xn(a bx)n/n!, and showed how that (a bx) a when x is bounded between 0 and ПЂ. From this Niven stated that must be a smaller value than (a)n. Similarly, when x is bounded between 0 and ПЂ, the term xn must be between 0 and ПЂn. Niven took all of these properties and functions and stated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well, it honestly depends on which profession you have chosen: Medic or EMT? When I compare being a Medic in the United States Military to being a civilian EMT; I think that being a Medic is better. Upon comparing the credentials and future availability to attain additional credentials, individual capabilities, and impact on health of those treated, I believe that you too will agree with the idea that being a Medic is more beneficial. First, we will discuss being a Civilian EMT. To be an EMT an individual must complete an EMT program through a technical school or college. After completion of the course the individual is required to pass a state test. After passing the state ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 51. Corporate Roles, Personal Virtues, And The Good Life In the Corporate Roles, Personal Virtues: An Aristotelean Approach to Business Ethics, Robert Solomon argues that toughness is a virtue, but callousness and indifference is not. Solomon views the Aristotle approach the proper way, because it considers both personal and business values. However, Albert Carr argues that business and personal ethicsdon t mix; and game strategy in business leads to success. In this paper, I will argue that Carr prevails Solomon s business ethics and his claim. Aristotle is a philosopher that is known for his interest in virtue ethics, but is more recognized for his business ethics (Solomon 67). Before explaining the latter, Aristotle explains the role of the virtues in ethics and the good life through: community, excellence, role identity, integrity, judgement (phronesis), holism. The Aristotelean approach to community comes first, because we as an individual find our identity through institutions. Darwinism s survival of the fittest and neo Hobbesian s every man for themselves contradicts the Aristotelian view. Business and personal agenda needs each other to be more productive; yet, the corporation one choose will determine the level of happiness or eudaimonia. Solomon claims that business students now seek jobs that have higher salaries, so he tells them, to live a decent life by choosing the right company (Solomon 70).
