Academic libraries are changing significantly due to new technologies and user behaviors. Libraries need to adapt services to support digital scholarship, provide online access to resources, and help users navigate large amounts of information. Skills for libraries are expanding beyond traditional areas to include areas like data mining, digital curation, and supporting new forms of scholarly communication and impact. The roles of libraries and librarians are evolving in fundamental ways to meet changing user needs in research, teaching, and learning.
The document discusses screencasting, which is a digital recording of computer screen output that often includes audio narration. It explains why screencasting is useful for tasks like creating tutorials, capturing problems, and guided reference. The screencasting process involves preparing, recording the screen, exporting the video, editing, and sharing. Several screencasting tools are mentioned, and tips provided include practicing narration, speaking clearly, and exploring sharing options.
The document provides an overview of using the shell in Linux, including exploring the bash shell, entering commands, shell variables, editing text with vi, and printing files from the command line. It describes how the shell is used as a command interpreter to run programs and manipulate data, and how scripts are executed during user login to initialize the shell environment. Common shell features are explained such as tab completion, command history, aliases, variables, data redirection, and using commands like lpr to print files after a printer is configured.

The document compares student learning in Knowledge Forum and Elgg, online platforms for collaboration and knowledge building. Initial findings showed that while students in Knowledge Forum demonstrated most determinants of knowledge building, views remained unconnected. In Elgg, students covered the first three stages of connectivism and wanted more collaboration, but their work lacked focus. Overall, both platforms showed potential for knowledge building but need improvements to foster more connection and focus between groups.
HH Brown is proposing a new consumer analytics platform called Stylita that would use a user's fashion preferences to provide unbiased recommendations and connect them with similar customers. Stylita would analyze users through a mobile or web app to discover their true fashion tastes, help them feel confident in their choices, and link them with others of similar tastes, while also providing analytics to HH Brown brands. Future ideas for Stylita include expanding recommendations based on occasions, adding social sharing and a products page, and improving the analytics and community features.

This paper discusses representing writing narratives in a hybrid ecosystem using an ontospacial model. It proposes that individuals can be provided with more efficient means of interacting with the hybrid ecosystem by using an ontospacial representation to co-construct narratives. The ontospacial model represents narratives and interactions as positions in a conceptual space defined by ontological dimensions. This allows proximity between narratives based on similarity and trajectories that represent storylines as movements between positions in ontospace. Communities form around attractor basins that represent shared perspectives in ontospace.
This document outlines the proper procedures for investigating a crime scene, including:
1) Initially assessing any hazards, determining if a crime occurred, and identifying victims and witnesses.
2) Securing the scene to prevent contamination by restricting access and using a single entrance.
3) Recording the scene through sketches, notes, photographs and video to preserve evidence.
4) Systematically searching and collecting evidence while wearing protective equipment.

The document discusses several issues that arose under the Articles of Confederation between 1776-1788, including weak central government, lack of taxation powers, and Shays' Rebellion. It led to calls for a new Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia in 1787 to address weaknesses in the Articles and establish a new framework for how the former colonies would be governed. Key documents produced include the Declaration of Independence, Articles of Confederation, US Constitution, and Bill of Rights.
The document describes design-based research and narrative ecology as a design experiment. It discusses how design-based research is carried out to explore how technological innovations affect learning and interaction. The goal is to engineer innovative learning environments while understanding aspects of human cognition and learning. Characteristics of design experiments are that they are mediated by technology, embedded in social contexts, can test new learning paradigms, and create scientific understanding of learning. Challenges include complexity, large amounts of data, and comparing across designs.
The document discusses the challenges parents face in keeping up with their children's internet use. It notes that internet sites and means of connection are changing rapidly, with new sites appearing overnight and mobile devices becoming more common. It also states that simply teaching about or filtering internet sites is not enough, and that helping children develop safe online behaviors and attitudes is increasingly important as the internet environment continues to evolve quickly.
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive functioning. Exercise boosts blood flow and levels of neurotransmitters and endorphins which elevate and stabilize mood.
How To Complete The Ks3 Test Results Spreadsheetgriggans
This document provides instructions for completing a KS3 test results spreadsheet for science assessments. Teachers should open the shared spreadsheet file, find their class, and enter raw scores for students which will automatically calculate percentages, levels, and averages. Scores should be entered by clicking the correct cell and replacing the placeholder zero with the raw score.

The document appears to be a quiz about sound and hearing. It contains multiple choice questions about topics like which everyday sound is the loudest, parts of the ear, properties of sound waves, measuring sound, the speed of sound, and nerves involved in hearing. The questions range in difficulty and point values from 100 to 1,000,000 points. After each question the player's answer is checked and they receive feedback like "correct" or "incorrect" along with the right answer.
Gabriela goes to her friend Juliana's house to play basketball, but Juliana is playing video games on her computer and invites Gabriela inside to play games there instead. Inside, Gabriela meets Juliana's brother Samuel playing on a Game Boy, ignoring her greeting. Juliana then starts playing her games, forgetting Gabriela is there. After two hours of being bored, Gabriela leaves and Juliana gets angry, ending their friendship. The story shows how virtual reality games can negatively impact kids' social lives and relationships.
This document summarizes a journey from the largest to smallest distances in the universe, starting at 10 million light years (1023 m) and ending at 100 atom/meter (10-16 m). Key points covered include distances to see different astronomical structures like galaxies and stars, approaching the solar system and Earth, and zooming down to the microscopic level of atoms, DNA, cells, and even smaller subatomic particles. The document aims to provide perspective on relative scales across the immense range of sizes found across the cosmos.
