Infrastructure Testing: The Ultimate “Shift Left”TechWell
Organizations worldwide are continually required to make significant investments in upgrading, re-engineering, and protecting their IT infrastructure. However, unlike application software development, many companies lack a structured quality assurance approach for infrastructure testing. Creating an infrastructure quality practice is an answer, but it's not without its challenges. However, if your company is interested in avoiding headline-grabbing outages, rooted in deployment problems with infrastructure—server, network, storage, middleware, telephony, hardware, IT security, cloud, virtual, and Data Center Ops—then come to this session. Carl Delmolino and Hitesh Patel explain how to identify and address infrastructure testing opportunities, how to build a diversely skilled infrastructure test team, and how to apply familiar SDLC testing process rigor to enterprise-level infrastructure change. When addressed effectively, infrastructure testing is risk mitigation at the far end of “left,” reduces organizational technical risk, and helps ensure higher system availability for employees and customers, alike.

Serena Webcast: Accelerating Application Delivery with Continuous TestingSerena Software
Continuous delivery significantly improves the quality of software and compresses the development lifecycle to meet the demands of today’s business. Traditionally organizations have developed and delivered software in a linear fashion. Rather than integrating code at the end of a project or even a sprint, continuous delivery allows for code to be tested and integrated throughout the project, reducing complexity and risk. We will discuss how continuous testing can ensure quality throughout the application lifecycle from development, testing, release and actual user experiences. In this webinar you will learn:
1. How to create a continuous load and performance testing framework
2. How to trigger testing every time code changes are delivered
3. How to implement automated functional testing of mobile apps
4. How to use leverage cloud computing for load testing and performance testing

We look at some of the common wastes we find in the software delivery lifecycle, particularly as the programme size increases. These wastes contribute to a long Lead time for delivery to the customer. We then explore approaches to reducing or avoiding these wasteful areas.
Talk given by Andrey Falko, Principle Software Engineer at Salesforce, at Jenkins meetup on October 2016
Salesforce has a very high security bar, especially around the path to production for software. Last year, we worked on an initiative to use Jenkins to deliver software securely and reliably to production. We will present our approach for seamlessly on-boarding new and legacy components into our service. We'll walk you through how we integrated Docker into our system to give users more control and to enable CD. As a bonus, we will also review into how we are fusing the above with our monitoring systems to allow for self-service deployments.
About: Andrey Falko is a Tech Lead in the Diagnostics, Visibility and Analytics Cloud at Salesforce. In his 7+ years at the company he has built and scaled CI systems for three different groups. Use cases have been large systems such as Salesforce's flagship CRM product, a virtual machine management system, and more recently, SOA components in the Salesforce Infrastructure Cloud.
SaaS Operations Practice Overview SoftServe DevOpsSoftServe
There has started a strong trend of moving to service based software in the last few years. A typical lifecycle of a software product in this case consists of two major phases – transition and operation.
Your organization may have the experience and capacity to conduct the Transition phase, however the Operation phase could introduce some additional risks and issues. This is caused by the difference between boxed- and service-based software delivery models.

By now you have likely heard about DevOps. It's quickly gaining adoption. But what is it? And why should you care? DevOps is all about creating a culture of high collaboration between development and operations with a goal of optimizing the entire software delivery pipeline—from code commit to features running in production. This enables organizations to deliver value into production faster and at a lower cost—even enabling multiple production deployments per day. Imagine the competitive advantage gained by delivering new features in hours or days rather than weeks, months or quarters.
This talk will show how DevOps improves agility by optimizing the delivery pipeline. We’ll look at common patterns and anti-patterns. We’ll see the kind of tools needed to automate and manage the ever increasing number of servers and applications modern organizations need. We’ll also discuss the benefits and costs of adopting a DevOps culture.
Here is a taste of some of the things we will discuss:
- Get ops involved up front rather than at the end, so deployment and monitoring issues are found early and rework is reduced.
- Treat infrastructure as code so it is automated, repeatable, and under version control.
- Ensure your development and test environments are identical to production (or as close as possible). This helps catch issues sooner rather than in production.
- Deploy more frequently so you are dealing with a smaller batch of changes. This is easier to manage, and less likely to fail.
If you struggle with deployments, or your ops team is constantly fighting fires and drowning in unplanned work, this talk is for you. Come see how DevOps can improve the agility of your organization.

Business Case Calculator for DevOps Initiatives - Leading credit card service...Capgemini
The 2015 World Quality Report data reveals that 61% of respondent’s rate time-to-market as very important which is the key reason for the proliferation of DevOps. The biggest ingredient is speed based on efficiencies upstream and in operations. Technology leaders now need to wear a business hat and build their strategy based on cost to achieve desired velocity as opposed to cost savings.

This talk hopes to share Istio's capabilities with audience. Most people may think Istio is simply a cool network product. However, Istio could be much more than network control. Let's see how we could apply its capability to build an "EASIER" SRE organization.
Developing and delivering applications in a repeatable way, with the expected quality is a great challenge these days. In order to maximize business value at-the-speed-of-business, initiatives are being driven both by the development or delivery teams and by operations. They each have their own focus and specifics, but in essence they are both centered around: Collaboration and integration, automation, standardization and governance.
How ancestry used ai and ml for continuous, autonomous cloud optimization a...SVDevOps
Ancestry has more than three million paying subscribers and a collection of more than 20 billion records. The company moved its operations to the cloud to enable it to scale with its customer base and implemented CI/CD processes to facilitate rapid feature rollout. However, with rapid growth in both its user base and the range of products it provides, Ancestry was hard-pressed to ensure that it was achieving optimum performance, efficiency, and customer experience with its cloud applications, while also efficiently spending their cloud budget. With tens of thousands of components processing petabytes of data, there is a lot of room for underutilization and wastage. That leads into the cloud optimization presentation with Amir Sharif from Opsani, who will review the way Ancestry has leveraged AI to optimize cloud operations. Learn in this session how Ancestry and some of the largest enterprises have autonomously optimized thousands of their workloads across their service delivery platform, saving countless human hours and dollars, while delivering a better customer experience.
Drive Faster Quality Insights through Customized Test Automation - Part 2Perfecto by Perforce
When making the transformation to DevOps and agile, many organizations find it hard to meet tough product release schedules and to cope with large data sets. Triaging failures across multiple platforms has become tedious and time-consuming.
Reporting test-driven development (RTDD) is an innovative approach to agile testing that helps you write and implement tests with the end in mind (i.e., the test reports). RTDD puts structure, governance, and advanced capabilities into your test automation strategy.
RTDD enables the entire product team to collaborate and make data-driven decisions in real time, resulting in test scenarios and test suites that are structured and easy to manage.

I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.
