1. Erosions

2. Have you ever wondered how some of those beautiful rock formations
are made? Or how can the soil separate and be capable of destroying
someone’s home. Erosions cause all these beautiful formations and can
be massively destructive.

3. What are Erosions?

4. To explain how these events can happen we first need to know what is
erosion and how it’s broken down into “steps”. According to "Break It

Oct. 2015. Erosion is the “process that breaks things down. As far as
we're concerned, erosion is the breakdown of the continents and the
land around you. The overall effect of breaking down and weathering
the land is called denudation. Denudation is the process of erosion. In
nature, large things are broken down into smaller things. Boulders
become sand. Mountains are rained on and become hills. The pieces of
the mountain become smaller pieces and go down the sides of hills.
Weathering and erosion always happen in a downhill direction.” All this
sound very interesting and it makes you think if this is the process to
make the beautiful formations that we all admire, what can be the
consequences if this happens in terms of destruction.

5. Where is Erosion or where is it
happening?

6. Erosion is happening all over Earth. Especially in Hawaii,
according to "Hawaii Coastal Erosion Website." Hawaii

is common to find that the construction of one seawall on
a beach leads to proliferation of additional seawalls.
Armoring a chronically eroding coast leads to beach loss
(Fletcher, et al., 1997). In an era of accelerating sea-level
rise (Church and White, 2006) the threat of chronic
erosion and beach loss is growing and the use of
shoreline data becomes a potentially significant coastal
management tool in the effort to conserve beaches for
future generations.”

7. How does Erosion affect life on Earth?

8. You may ask yourself how does erosion affect life on Earth? Or how is
life on Earth affected by erosion? According to "Soil Erosion and
Degradation." WorldWildlife.org. World Wildlife Fund, n.d. Web. 06
Oct. 2015. “The effects of soil erosion go beyond the loss of fertile
land. It has led to increased pollution and sedimentation in streams
and rivers, clogging these waterways and causing declines in fish and
other species. And degraded lands are also often less able to hold onto
water, which can worsen flooding. Sustainable land use can help to
reduce the impacts of agriculture and livestock, preventing soil
degradation and erosion and the loss of valuable land to
desertification.” With these disasters happening thru out the Earth we
need to help stop this, or else we will continue seeing entire species go
into extinction that will then eventually include us on that list.

9. What are some of the problems or
issues with Erosions?

10. Well according to Lant, Karla. "How Can Soil Erosion Cause Our Doom? Loss of

2015. Web. 06 Oct. 2015 “The top soil scientists in the country now warn us
that soil erosion, together with the effects of climate change, will present a
tremendous risk to global food security over the next century if this pattern
does not change.” If we are not ecologically conscious we will be losing all of
our nutrients, minerals and the most important one food because of naturally
made erosions and human made erosions. It also states in the article that
"Ever since humans developed agriculture, we've been transforming the
planet and throwing the soil's nutrient cycle out of balance," said the paper's
lead author, Ronald Amundson, a professor of environmental science, policy
and management at the University of California, Berkeley. "Because the
changes happen slowly, often taking two to three generations to be noticed,
people are not cognizant of the geological transformation taking place." How
are we supposed to grow our crops without causing such an imbalance in the
eco system that we may lose all of nutrients and possibly all of our food as
well.

11. What are some solutions?

12. What can we do or what are some solutions to try and
help out the balance in our eco system. Like previous
stated erosion isn’t bad, erosion has a process that is
called the rock cycle. This rock cycle process is how the
earth renews itself. According to Colson, Mary. Crumbling

the earth safer and cleaner. Greenpeace and Friends of
the Earth are two international that talk to governments
and people about environmental issues. Erosion can be
controlled through sensible farming and logging, and by
being more careful with our waste products.”
