What I bring to a role includes over 12 years teaching experience, 8 Years as a Leading Teacher, 6
Years as Head of Junior School at Lilydale High School and Rowville Secondary College.
Throughout my career I have been a proactive team member always looking for ways to contribute to
the school, students and community. I have been a strong advocate and implementer of programs
such as Wayne Craig’s Curiosity and Powerful Learning School Improvement Strategy and Tracey
Ezard’s Leading and Managing Staff and Change.
My experience in teaching, as well as running and leading junior schools has ensured a host of skills,
capabilities and proven effectiveness in Student and Teacher Management, Curriculum Development
and Modifications, Student Engagement Strategies, Teacher Support and Development as well as
Discipline Protocols and Management. I look forward to supporting staff in developing and
implementing strategies, programs and leadership capabilities as well as in the administration and
operations areas in order to transition schools into a school of choice for the wider community.

Head of Junior School Years 7-9
As Head of the Junior School at the Western Campus currently after 2 years as Head of Junior
School at our Eastern Campus, comprising of over 1000 students, my directive has been to bring
cohesion into the 4 current teaching programs of general excellence, sports academy, maths &
science academy and the institute of the arts, in order to achieve greater student, parent and teacher
satisfaction.
 Reporting directly to the Assistant Principal I collaborate with the Head of Junior School at the
Eastern Campus, Head of the Senior School, the Daily Organiser, 6 Administrative Staff, 2
Welfare Officers and 1 School Bursar in the daily operations of the Junior School of the Western
Campus
 I directly oversee the 4 Team Leaders and work assigned to the 12 form groups in the Junior
School
o Design and develop performance plans with each team leader
o Lead weekly Team Leader meetings
 Set Team Leader goals and set Junior School goals
 Lead the school response strategy to achieve the goals of our Annual Implementation
Plan, specifically targeting greater student connectedness to school, and greater

Specific Educational Leadership
 I led the team that created a learning culture framework and flow chart, to assist teachers and
students, which has led to the following:
o A whole school focus on higher expectations, where it has become accepted that classroom
disruptions will not be tolerated, uniform infractions will be dealt with accordingly and
rewarding students for excellence is becoming the norm, not the exception.
o Students are more engaged in their learning, reflected in better Attitude To School survey
results.
o Teachers have a better understanding of the students we teach, leading to differentiated
approaches to teaching, fewer classroom disruptions and better results throughout the school.
o The school has a much more proficient way of dealing with student management issues that
arise, leading to parent and staff satisfaction with our processes and a more cohesive
learning environment for all students.
o I have been a principal instigator of change in the use of an online student management
system in my time at Rowville, first with Resource and now with Compass. Through this, all
school personnel have an ongoing tool to use when discussing the school’s position when
liaising with parents about school matters, leading to better connectedness throughout the
school community.
 I also have a deep and critical understanding of the learning framework that we have adopted as
a whole school, based on the work we have been doing with Wayne Craig for the past 2 years. I
have mentored staff on the use of this framework, resulting in:
o Students being more engaged in their learning, leading to stimulating learning environments
and move towards greater connectedness to school on Attitude To School survey results.
o Fewer classroom disruptions and issues resulting from “bored” students, leading to greater
teacher satisfaction on Staff Opinion Survey results.
o Increased correspondence with the school and home through our use of Compass, leading to
better Parent opinion survey data.
o Lessons being developed that promote differentiation of learning, leading to better student
outcomes when reporting to AUSVels and satisfaction on the Attitude To School survey
results.
