MARKET SUMMARY
 The Sensex was up 1,921.15 points or 5.32% at 38,014.62, while
Nifty was up 569.40 points or 5.32% at 11,274.20.
 The stock markets responding to the relief measures announced
today registered the highest one day gain in a decade. The Govt
has chosen to give reliefs via corporate taxes (vs GST reliefs ex-
pected by different sectors). For listed corporates, the reliefs will
mean ~10% increase in EPS for most high tax paying corporates
leading to similar rise in indices

 Reducing corporate tax rate to 25 percent is big bang reform. Allows Indian companies to compete with lower tax juris-
dictions like the US. It signals that our government is committed to economic growth and supports legitimate tax abiding
companies
 "Corporate tax rate cut from 30 percent to 25.2 percent to spur growth- this is a great move which will firmly revive
growth and investment.
 Nirmala Sitharaman said the revenue foregone on reduction in corporate tax and other relief measures will be Rs 1.45
lakh crore annually
 Companies which are paying more than 30 percent tax include names like ZEE Entertainment, HDFC Bank, Tata
Steel, Bajaj Finance, Britannia Industries, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Hindalco Industries, Axis Bank, ITC, GAIL India,
and JSW Steel.
 Fall in taxes will lead to a rise in EPS by double digits which is a positive sign especially at a time when earnings have
been muted or largely in single digits for the last 12-18 months.
 Infosys and Wipro can breathe a sigh of relief. Both companies will be exempted from the buyback tax of 20 percent,
which was announced during Budget 2019. As per Budget 2019, both companies were liable to pay additional 20 percent
buyback tax. However, with the recent announcement, they are relieved from paying this tax.
