Application of BERO™ Biosurfactant in Xinjiang Oilfield and Its Effect
Construction Basis and Purpose
34147, 34124 and 34166 wells of Xinjiang Oilfield, analysis result shows that
these wells have sufficient formation energy and production reduction of these
wellsare mainly caused by high wax content of polymers and crude oil and the
plugging of near-wellbore area caused by well flushing conducted recently.
BERO™ biosurfactant is characterized in that it has strong ability in releasing
hydrocarbon (oil) on all solid surfaces, is a non-acidizing plugging removal
agent and will not cause secondary contamination to the formation and or
disturb crude oil dehydration and sewage treatment system, so it is used for
full plugging removal according to the production need and the requirements of
geological solution of 34147, 34124 and 34166 wells of Xinjiang Oilfield.
Construction Requirements
Calculation of well data is conducted based on actual situation:
45m3 of BERO™ biosurfactant (concentration of conditioning fluid: 2%) and
5m3 of displacement fluid should be used for Well 34147.
55m3 of BERO™ biosurfactant (concentration of conditioning fluid: 2%) and
5m3 of displacement fluid should be used for Well 34124.
170m3 of BERO™ biosurfactant (concentration of conditioning fluid: 2%) and
5m3 of displacement fluid should be used for Well 34166.
Formation sewage should be used for mixing with BERO™ biosurfactant and
the temperature of injection fluid should be above 50oC.
Result Analysis
1) Well 34147, Well 34124 and Well 34166 resumed production after shut-in
for 120 hours and their liquid production continuously increased after
opening.
2) After using BERO™ biosurfactant as plugging removal agent, liquid
production obviously increased and daily liquid production increased by
several times.
3) After construction, dynamic liquid level rose obviously and there is
sufficient liquid, indicating that the permeability of the formation nearby
bottom hole and the liquid supply capacity of the formation are improved
after construction.
4) No.2 Oil Production Plant of Xinjiang Oilfield Company used BERO™
biosurfactant as plugging removal agent for the first time and achieved
success, which not only verifies that this new biological technology is
applicable to the oil industry of China, but also provides good foundation

5) After entering reservoirs, BERO™ biosurfactant fast produces a biological
field (biotope), quickly separates asphalt, wax and oil adhering to rock and
sand by utilizing its strong ability in separating hydrocarbon and
emulsification ability, produces a film, which can greatly increase oil and
water flow rates, on rock and sand and improves the absolute permeability
Kro of reservoirs, thus improving the flow rates of oil and water (Qo and
Qw). It can be seen from the injection pressure wave that Well 34147, Well
34124 and Well 34166 are plugged to a certain extent, and with the
injection of BERO™ biosurfactant, plugging is continuously removed, so
injection pressure continuously fluctuates. After contaminants are removed,
channels of reservoirs become smooth.
BERO™ biosurfactant also can change the wettability of rock particles (which
become hydrophilic), thereby improving the relative permeability Kro of oil,
hindering water flowing and lowering water cut.
4. Result Summary
1) In September 2009, BERO™ biosurfactant was mixed with formation water
and injected in Well 34147 to remove plugging and stimulate production.
After shut-in for 5 days, Well 34147 resumed production and then its
production greatly increased. Its daily oil production increased from 15.3
BOPD to 56.7 BOPD and waterproduction decreased from 14.3 BWPD to
6.8 BWPD.By the end of February 2010, the proven oil production
increased 8,121.6 bbls.

2) In November 2009, BERO™ biosurfactant was mixed with formation water
and injected in Well 34124 to remove plugging and stimulate production.
After shut-in for 5 days, Well 34124 resumed production and then its
production greatly increased. Its daily oil production increased from 6.5
BOPD to 31.9 BOPD and waterproduction increased from 2.5 BWPD to 2.8
BWPD.By the end of February 2010, the proven oil production increased
2,433.6 bbls.

shut-in for 5 days, Well 34166 resumed production and then its production
greatly increased. Its daily oil production increased from 7.2 BOPD to 39.7
BOPD and waterproduction increased from 1.9 BWPD to 4.1 BWPD.By the
end of February 2010, the proven oil production increased 4,896 bbls.
