Introduction – Nature and Definition
 Earth and the total of all surroundings of a living organism is our environment.
 There are two categories of environment;
i. Natural environment (natural surroundings)
ii. Artificial environment (artificial environs)
2
Environmental Contamination
 Scientific advancements have positive as well as negative impacts on earth and
its environment.
 Nowadays, due to mankind’s unjust intervention, natural environment is
contaminating, day in and day out.
3
Environmental Hazards
 The four major environmental hazards are;
i. Pollution (air, water, noise and soil)
ii. Global warming (ozone layer is damaged)
iii. Deforestation (cutting of trees)
iv. Soil erosion (topsoil is eroded)
4
Environmentalism
 Environmentalism means implementing good habits
towards environment and refraining from
inappropriate acts against environment.
5
Major Safety Measures
 Cultivation of maximum trees,
 Using ozone-friendly motor vehicles,
 Keeping toxic wastes separated,
 Cleaning of water reservoirs from time to time,
 Refraining from synthetic fertilizers,
 Recycling of various materials,
 Using biodegradable products &
 Using cloth bags instead of plastic bags.
6
Environmental Phenomenon
 An individual is combination of body, mind and soul. Similarly,
environment is the aggregate of land, water and air.
 People try to maintain their physical health, enhance their mental
peace and improve their spiritual serenity, so humanity should also try
to protect the land, clean the water and sustain fresh air, frequently and
conscientiously.
7
Concluding Quotations
 “Imagine if trees gave off Wi-Fi signals, we would be planting so
many trees and we’d probably save the planet too. Too bad they
only produce the oxygen we breathe.” (Anonymous)
 “There is no joy in life unless three things are available: clean
fresh air, abundant pure water, and fertile land.” (Ja'far al-Sadiq)
 “Protect and honor the earth, for the earth is your mother.”
