Environmental pollution occurs when contaminants are introduced into the environment at levels that exceed its ability to render them harmless. There are several types of pollution including air, water, soil, and radioactive pollution. Air pollution is caused by emissions from vehicles, factories, and forest fires which introduce harmful chemicals and particulate matter into the atmosphere. This damages human health and the environment. Water pollution occurs when untreated waste is discharged into water bodies, contaminating drinking water and harming aquatic life. Soil pollution is caused by industrial activities and improper waste disposal, introducing toxic chemicals into the ground and reducing soil fertility. If left unaddressed, environmental pollution will continue degrading the earth's ecosystems.
