Social software needs a clear purpose and structure to succeed in motivating employees. It can help share information and connect people, but challenges include getting users to adopt new ways of working. Defining the purpose of social tools, providing a structured approach, and offering motivation through rewards and feedback can help improve employee participation and productivity.

Things I'd Like Social Software Vendors To Focus OnAlan Lepofsky
I meet with a lot of social software companies, ranging from startups that have yet to go public to the established large vendors. This presentation highlights three of the areas that I would like to see all of the vendors doing a better job on: 1) Activity Streams, 2) focus on the individual 3) Analytics.
These slides were presented at Defrag 2012 in Denver, CO on Nov 15, 2012 www.defragcon.com
Often enterprise social networking platforms are touted as the solution to the communication and collaboration problems organizations experience. While it's true "working social" has many benefits, it's naive to think it does not have its own set of challenges. Don't worry though, there are solutions to these challenges.
Hopefully this presentation cuts through the "fluffy" industry hype and provides a realistic look at social networking. The slides may be hard to follow with the words though, so feel free to contact me for more details.

The 2009 global economic crisis and collapse of financial systems were a wake-up call to the world. We need to rethink and rebuild the organisations and institutions that have served us well for decades, even centuries. The pillars of economic and social life from the industrial economy have come to the end of their life cycle. How must our institutions change for a new century, new media, new generation and a new economy? The next decade is crucial. What is to be done?
In order to transform the world for an age of intelligence, we need to change the architecture of the technology infrastructure for companies, government and just about every other institution in society.

Purposeful Collaboration - Presented at IBM Connect 2014Alan Lepofsky
This presentation discusses the evolution of collaboration software from stand-alone tools to integrated enterprise software platforms. It provides examples from the IBM Collaboration platform.
This is a sample subset of my longer talk about innovation. For more details, please contact me.
Both innovation and improvement are important, but there is a difference between the two terms. This presentation discusses these differences and shows how collaboration software can be used through all the stage of the innovation process.
Collaboration tools enable people to discover and interact with, the
content, colleagues and communities,
that can help them get their jobs done.
Culture, Technology and Business Practices are evolving to adapt to today’s more social working environment
The first era of enterprise social was about collaborating more effectively by working more transparently and increasing participating via “social software”
With Purposeful Collaboration, “social” is built directly into the tools and business processes people use to get their jobs done
The Future of Social in the Enterprise - by Alan Lepofsky and Dion HinchcliffeAlan Lepofsky
This presentation talks about the past, present and future of social software within the enterprise. DIon Hinchcliffe and I presented this at Salesforce Dreamforce 2012.
These days everything in software is being referred to as "social"; social business, social enterprise, social networking, etc. But social features are not perfect for all situations nor do they social all our business needs. This presentation takes a look at several areas of social software and discusses problems with them and proposed solutions.
- Navigating the rapids of activity streams
- Aggregated Social vs. Integrated Social
- Don't forget the “me” in social media
- Social Task Management
- Analytics & Gamification
Taking the Training Wheels Off Social SoftwareAlan Lepofsky
The Shift From Sharing To Getting Work Done
Over the last few years employees have slowly grown accustomed to using social software at work. Actions such as posting status updates, sharing links to web sites and publishing personal blogs have provided great starting points for getting people engaged, but now it's time for employees to start using social software to help Get Work Done. In this session we'll discuss the growing trends of using social tools for task/project management and integration of social elements into core-businesses process. You'll hear how departments such as Human Resources, Marketing and Support can use social technologies to improve the way people work. Topics will include social/workforce analytics, social media monitoring, mobile devices and gamification. Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work.
