NETC 08 Showcase of a series of PowerPoint sets that incorporate video clips of interviews with program and administrative team members of AL Cooperative Extension System. The sets were developed to help new employees get to know the leadership a little better than they might otherwise. Each set is based on five basic questions asked of each person. Each question has its own slide with a few facts and a link to the appropriate interview clip.

Thanks for taking the time to view this showcase – and now you know what we created for some ACES enquiring minds!

This workshop was conducted at the 10th Annual Corporate University Week in November 2008. In the three-hour workshop, participants learned how to design and develop “point-of-need” self-instruction for an EPSS via blended, experiential, and hands-on learning methodologies. During the workshop, we discussed when an EPSS solution is the right deployment choice over or in addition to other forms of learning to increase speed to competency and reduce errors/misinformation. Participants also learned how to create EPSS solutions to improve learner retention and job performance, and reduce training and support costs.

Project Management Scenario: You are a consultant with expertise in project management strategies. Select a possible project management situation from your current or future professional experience. As a project management consultant, you are tasked with developing a project management plan for this project. Your goal is to maximize the time, resources and finances associated with the project in the best interests of the business/company. You will need to write a professional memo to the business/company owner describing the management of the project. Your essay should include: 1.) Create the PERT/CPM activity network for your project that includes at least five activities and at least one predecessor activity. 2.) Estimate the optimistic, most likely, and pessimistic times to then determine an expected time for each activity. 3.) Determine all activities that are on the critical path. 4.) Identify the slack time (if any) associated with activities in the project. 5.) Create a Gantt chart to show the project timeline. Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management. The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM). Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing

Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process. In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds. - These are slides of the talk given at IEEE International Conference on Software Testing Verification and Validation Workshop, ICSTW 2022.
