ENHANCEMENT
I. OBJECTIVES:
After working on with series of on-line exercises, the Grade 9 students are expected to do
following with at least 90% level of accuracy within 20 minutes:
a. Solve quadratic equations by factoring;
b. Construct a mathematical statement from a real-life situation;
c. Justify a real-life problem involving quadratic equation by factoring.

Topic: Solving Quadratic Equations by Factoring
Materials: Laptop/PC/Smart Phone; Powerpoint Presentations; On-line Softwares (Google Form,
Google Classroom).

III. Procedure:
A. Recall
Greetings!
Yesterday/The other day, we were able to discuss and solve different activities
involving quadratic equations by factoring and how to solve quadratic problems in real life
situations, right? Hence, I would like to find out how well you’ve understood our lesson by
answering the on-line exercises I have prepared for you via Google form. Type-in your name,
year and section. You have two (2) minutes to answer each item. Make sure to type your
complete name. Your speed in answering the questions will also be a plus factor aside from
answering it correctly. Ready? Let’s begin!
Directions: Solve the following quadratic equations by factoring. Click on the answer.

B. Recall of the Rule/ Generalization
Based from the answered exercises, how did you find the activity? Was it easy for you
to find the solutions of quadratic equations by factoring? Did you apply the different
mathematics concepts and principles in finding the solutions of each equation? I know you

students have shared their answers to the following raised questions.)
C. Inference
Let’s see if you have clearly understood our lesson by working on the next exercises
that I have prepared for you. This time, using a graphing paper (on-line or off-line application),
you will draw a diagram to illustrate the given situation below and write a mathematical
statement representing area, length and the width of the pathway. Save and upload your
created outputs in our LMS class portal. complete this task within ten (10) minutes.
Directions: Use the situation below to answer the questions that follow.
‘’The Manhole’’
A rectangular metal manhole with an area of 0.5 𝑚2
is situated along a cemented
pathway. The length of the pathway is 8m longer than its width.
a. Draw a diagram to illustrate the given
situation
b. How are you going to represent the length and
the width of the pathway ? How about its
area?
c. What expression would represent the area of
the cemented portion of the pathway?

finding solutions of quadratic equations by factoring, using a sheet of, describe the area of
the shaded region of each figure and find the length and width. Save and upload your created

Direction: The quadratic equation given describes the area of the shaded region of each
figure. Find the length and the width of each figure.

OBJECTIVES: After working on with series of on-line exercises, the Grade 9 students are expected to do following with at least 90% level of accuracy within 20 minutes: a. Solve quadratic equations by factoring; b. Construct a mathematical statement from a real-life situation; c. Justify a real-life problem involving quadratic equation by factoring. II. Subject Matter: Topic: Solving Quadratic Equations by Factoring Materials: Laptop/PC/Smart Phone; Powerpoint Presentations; On-line Softwares (Google Form, Google Classroom). Resources: 21st Century Mathematics pp. 122-127, Mathematics Learner’s Material 9. pp27 III. Procedure: A. Recall Greetings! Yesterday/The other day, we were able to discuss and solve different activities involving quadratic equations by factoring and how to solve quadratic problems in real life situations, right? Hence, I would like to find out how well you’ve understood our lesson by answering the on-line exercises I have prepared for you via Google form. Type-in your name, year and section. You have two (2) minutes to answer each item. Make sure to type your complete name. Your speed in answering the questions will also be a plus factor aside from answering it correctly. Ready? Let’s begin! Directions: Solve the following quadratic equations by factoring. Click on the answer. Question 1: 𝒙𝟐 − 𝟏𝟒 = 𝟓𝒙 (Answer: 𝒙 = 𝟕 𝒐𝒓 𝒙 = −𝟐) Question 2: 𝟔𝒔𝟐 + 𝟖s=0 (Answer: 𝒔 = 𝟎 𝒐𝒓 𝒙 = −𝟑) Question 3: 𝒉𝟐 + 𝟔𝒉 = 𝟏𝟔 (Answer: 𝒉 = −𝟖 𝒐𝒓 𝒉 = 𝟐) Question 4: 𝟖𝟏 − 𝟒𝒙𝟐 = 𝟎 (Answer: 𝒙 = −𝟗 𝟐 𝒐𝒓 𝒉 = 𝟗 𝟐 ) Question 5: 𝒙𝟐 − 𝟏𝟎𝒙 + 𝟐𝟓 = 𝟎 (Answer: 𝒙 − 𝟓)

Directions: Use the situation below to answer the questions that follow. ‘’The Manhole’’ A rectangular metal manhole with an area of 0.5 𝑚2 is situated along a cemented pathway. The length of the pathway is 8m longer than its width. a. Draw a diagram to illustrate the given situation b. How are you going to represent the length and the width of the pathway ?
