Abstract
My group and I decided to perform this particular study because the idea of a Haunted House
appealed to all of us and seemed very interesting. Our clients are all the entrepreneurs that are
interested in investing in our Haunted House. The objectives of the study were to design a well
rounded haunted house and build it from scratch. The assumptions were that there is no limit for
the budget and there was no restriction when it came to time. The study recommends that the
constructor, employers, and the employees handle the entire project by themselves. They are in
charge of building the haunted house and making it a public attraction.
Introduction
To better understand this study, the group developed sketches, gantt chart, bill of materials, and a
budget. The sketches show the layout of the haunted house. The layout shows that the house has
two floors and also shows where the scary events will take place. The gantt chart shows a
schedule that will be followed when building the haunted house. Ultimately, the entire project
was divided into numerous tasks and each task received a particular span of time that it will be
completed within. The bill of materials is a list of all the materials required to build the haunted
house and the budget shows the cost of building the haunted house including labor and
equipment. The main goal of this project is to build a successful haunted house, but also to make
it the best one the world has yet to witness. Our designs for our haunted house will help us
achieve this goal because we managed to take the scariest events from a variety of haunted
houses and mix them up all together into one big haunted house. Our haunted house will be the
scariest of them all. Also, we wanted to make our haunted house unique compared to other ones
so we added the theme of laser tag to enhance the enjoyment the haunted house can produce. The
overall purpose of the project was to design and build a haunted house from scratch. Our major
assumption is that this project will be a huge success because a lot of time and money is being
invested into this project and no expenses are being spared.

In order to finish our project efficiently, we created a gantt chart that describes our plan to build
a haunted house. We started our project on November 10th, 2015 and we plan to finish it before
October 30th, 2016, which is the date for celebrating halloween holiday of next year. Since we
plan to finish building this haunted house within a year or so, a gantt chart and schedule for each
task were created and following this plan will help us work efficiently and save money.
Before starting construction, a design of our haunted house is needed. So the first task is to
design the haunted house and we plan to finish it in a month. Then we will bring our design of
the haunted house to meet with the contractors. We plan to finalize the contract in two weeks.
since we plan to finish the construction in 8 months, in order to start construction once the
contract is finalized, we need to have some materials prepared first such as woods for foundation
of the haunted house. So while we are negotiating with the contractors, we start to create a list of
materials and plan to finish it in two weeks. And while we are creating the list of materials, we
start to order some materials online or we can get them in some nearby stores so that the
construction can be started even though not all the materials are arrived. So the constructors are
building the haunted house while waiting for other materials arrived.
We plan to get all the material prepared in a month. And once all the material are arrived, we can
start working on the budget by using the time of construction. And we plan to finish the budget
in a month. After the constructors finish building the first floor of our haunted house, we can
start decorating the first floor of the haunted house and finish five events first. And once all the
constructions are finished, we can decorating the second floor of the haunted. We plan to finish
decorating the haunted house in four months. Similarly, while we finish decorating the first floor
of the haunted house, we can start testing the haunted house and we plan to spend a month to test
the safety of the house and make sure each event works as expected. While we are testing the
haunted house, we can record times for each event at the same time. And we will finish
recording in a month. If everything works smoothly as we planned, we can open our haunted
house almost two weeks earlier before the halloween holiday starts. if some of the tasks need
more time to be finished, we still can expect that our haunted house will be open before the
halloween starts.

This is a summary of our Budget for the Haunted House Project. In order to get the House built
we need to buy land and a General Contractor for a contracting company that will be willing to
build and construct our haunted house maze. We also put in the salaries of the workers. The
upper staff will receive more money than the regular staff because they are in charge of
managing the workers and things that goes on in the haunted house. For the regular staff’s salary
we researched Philadelphia’s minimum wage and went a bit above the wage. The Materials for
the haunted house maze is needed to make the maze haunted and scary. Other materials needed
to run the haunted house maze was also included in the budget. Because the haunted house maze
will be using electricity and water, we researched the cost for water and electricity in
Philadelphia to get the total cost of the amount of water and electricity that will be used with the
260 days the maze will be operating. We also included the cost for internet and phone services
because the laser tag equipment requires internet to function correctly.
Discussion
A lot of thought was put into designing and building this haunted house. We first developed
models of the haunted house by coming up with as many as ideas as possible for scary events
and then we picked the best ones out of all of them. We also researched the scariest haunted
houses and by doing took some ideas and added twists to them to make them as unique as
possible. The most unique thing about our haunted house is that it involves laser tag so people
will be playing a game and being scared at the same time! We decided to build our own haunted
house instead of renting a house because we felt like we could do more with our own house. We
chose the best contractor for the job and guided him through all of the architectural decisions.
We did not have any special machines perform any of the scary events. All of the scary events
were performed by the employees.
Everything went pretty well in the end. The employees did well with their respective jobs.
Almost everyone that entered the haunted house had fun. We were afraid the house might have
been a little small to have a maze and a laser tag theme, but it worked out just fine in the end.
Safety was the number one consideration when it came to people’s needs and preferences for this
project. Since our haunted house involves a trap door and a maze, we wanted to make sure the
haunted house is as safe as possible because safety hazards would destroy our business. These
safety concerns were taken care off with great lighting and electricity management to make sure
the employees can spot all of the people inside at any given time.
If we were to repeat this project, there are some things that we would do differently. We would
buy a bigger house because if we had a bigger house we would have been able to express our
scary events better. Also, we think the maze was a little hard for some people because there were
a lot of dead ends and the goal was hard to reach, so in the future we would make the maze less
complicated and at the same time more enjoyable for everyone.

Similarly, while we finish decorating the first floor of the haunted house, we can start testing the haunted house and we plan to spend a month to test the safety of the house and make sure each event works as expected. While we are testing the haunted house, we can record times for each event at the same time. And we will finish recording in a month. If everything works smoothly as we planned, we can open our haunted house almost two weeks earlier before the halloween holiday starts. if some of the tasks need more time to be finished, we still can expect that our haunted house will be open before the halloween starts. In order to get the House built we need to buy land and a General Contractor for a contracting company that will be willing to build and construct our haunted house maze. We also put in the salaries of the workers. The upper staff will receive more money than the regular staff because they are in charge of managing the workers and things that goes on in the haunted house. For the regular staff’s salary we researched Philadelphia’s minimum wage and went a bit above the wage. The Materials for the haunted house maze is needed to make the maze haunted and scary. Other materials needed to run the haunted house maze was also included in the budget. Because the haunted house maze will be using electricity and water, we researched the cost for water and electricity in Philadelphia to get the total cost of the amount of water and electricity that will be used with the 260 days the maze will be operating. We also included the cost for internet and phone services because the laser tag equipment requires internet to function correctly. Discussion A lot of thought was put into designing and building this haunted house. We first developed models of the haunted house by coming up with as many as ideas as possible for scary events and then we picked the best ones out of all of them. We also researched the scariest haunted houses and by doing took some ideas and added twists to them to make them as unique as possible. The most unique thing about our haunted house is that it involves laser tag so people will be playing a game and being scared at the same time! We decided to build our own haunted house instead of renting a house because we felt like we could do more with our own house. We chose the best contractor for the job and guided him through all of the architectural decisions.
  • 11. We did not have any special machines perform any of the scary events. All of the scary events were performed by the employees. Everything went pretty well in the end. The employees did well with their respective jobs. Almost everyone that entered the haunted house had fun. We were afraid the house might have been a little small to have a maze and a laser tag theme, but it worked out just fine in the end. Safety was the number one consideration when it came to people’s needs and preferences for this project. Since our haunted house involves a trap door and a maze, we wanted to make sure the haunted house is as safe as possible because safety hazards would destroy our business. These safety concerns were taken care off with great lighting and electricity management to make sure the employees can spot all of the people inside at any given time. If we were to repeat this project, there are some things that we would do differently. We would buy a bigger house because if we had a bigger house we would have been able to express our scary events better. Also, we think the maze was a little hard for some people because there were a lot of dead ends and the goal was hard to reach, so in the future we would make the maze less complicated and at the same time more enjoyable for everyone.
