Bullying Is A Common Problem
Bullying is a common problem. Bullying is very negative and creates bigger problems for
society. Since many people don`t take bullying serious, they are often left shocked and confused
when an incident occurs as a result of bullying. This essay is about dealing with bullying and one
teens desparate struggle to deal with the issue; which ultimately led to her suicide at the age of 15.
There are many forms of bullying. Two types of bullying that Amanda experienced was emotional
bullying, which includes spreading rumors, manipulating social relationships, or engaging in social
exclusion, extortion, or intimidation and physical bullying which involves hitting, kicking, spitting,
pushing, and taking personal belongings. The second form of bullying is sexual bullying, which
involves sexual harassment and sexual abuse. (Regoli, Hewitt, Delisi,2014).
There are many emotions experienced, when someone is bullied. Despite the fact, it might not
show intially, a lot could be going on internally. As a result of being bullied Amanda experienced
anxiety, major depression, and panic disorder. She handled with it by revolving to drugs, alcohol,
and sex. In return, she suffered more pain and cause damaged to herself, as she struggled to be
accepted by her peers, find someone who cares, and just to mean something to someone.
Reading Amanda story I felt a sense of pity for her. I had many questions as to how she could
literally feel like she has no one. Did she post her video,

My Family At The United States
Just like any other immigrants coming to the United States, my family was in search for a better
life. My parents both came from Asia; my dad was from China and my mom was from Japan.
Being a first generation American, I was considered Nisei. I lived in San Jose California and
stayed there my whole life. My parents were hard working people and showed me what it meant
to be truly American. I was an only child and was twelve years old when the United States was
attacked by the Japanese military. My dad owned a store and my mom helped Japanese people
come to America. She would provide temporary housing. I always remember playing with the kids
coming from Japan, I could never understand them but they were really nice. After a few months
they would pick up a few words. The neighborhood kids loved playing with them as well their
parents. Every now and then my familyand other Niseis would experience some forms of
discrimination, like waiting in lines longer at the movies, stores, and restaurants. Not to mention
that all kinds of cultures received the same treatment. But for some reason the African American
group had it a little harder than we did. After the attackon Pearl Harbor, my parents didn t let me
play outside. Our neighbors and close friends turned on us. They forbidden their children to play
with me at home and at school. At the time I didn t understand it. Also my dad would come home
earlier than usual from work. He would always tell me that he just wanted more father

RUNWAY COLLISION OF UNITED EXPRESS 5925.
Runway Collision of United Express 5925 and Beechcraft King Air N1127D
Abstract
On November nineteen, nineteen hundred and ninety six a United Express Beechcraft nineteen
hundred took off from Chicago. After an intermediate stop at Burlington, Iowa the aircraft took off
again for Quincy, Illinois at four forty PM. As the Beechcraftwas approaching Quincy, two aircraft
were ready for departure. Beechcraft King Air and Piper Cherokee were taxiing to runway zero
four. Since Quincy is an uncontrolled airport, all three aircraft used a common traffic advisory
frequency (CTAF). As the United Express Beechcraft was getting ready to land on runway thirteen,
it was under the impression that the King ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Contributing to the cause of the accident was the Cherokee pilot s interrupted radio transmission,
which led to the Beech 1900C pilots misunderstanding of the transmission as an indication from the
King Air that it would not take off until after flight 5925 had cleared the runway. Contributing to
the severity of the accident and the loss of life was the
lack of adequate aircraft rescue and firefighting services, and the failure of the air stair door on the
Beech 1900C to open. The Safety Board remarked that Quincy Fire Department that responded to
the accident was ten miles away and did not arrive on scene until fourteen minutes after the
accident. They contrasted that observation with FAR Part 139 requirements that certificated
airports be capable of immediate response times of three minutes by on site ARFF trucks equipped
with extraction tools and staffed with properly trained firefighters. The Board noted that this FAA
requirement applies only when the airport is being actively served by air carrier aircraft with
seating capacity of more than thirty passengers. The Quincy Airport ARFF truck was parked about
1,800 feet from the accident site, and if properly staffed, it could have reached the burning
wreckage in less than one minute. Fire fighters might have then have been

The Deadly Marches World War II was a long bloody battle that lasted for six years. It started on

Moving To Atlanta
I grew up and spent most of my life living up north in Waldorf, Maryland, as my mother and step
father are employed by the U.S Military. They were stationed on Andrews Air Force Base for
eight years, but in 2006 they were both moved to Robins Air Force Base, in Warner Robins,
Georgia. During this time I moved to Atlanta to live with my dad for a year, before moving to
Warner Robins to live with my mom again. Upon arriving in the small city of Warner Robins, I
noticed a big difference in the population, social life, and education.
The city of Atlanta is full of people, and is growing by the numbers everyday. A lot of people
move here for schooling, a new career, cheaper living, and for the high city lifestyle. Whereas for
Warner Robins, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only problem I had with schooling was with the curriculum, as it was harder than any other
school I had previously attended, and staffed a lot of teachers who didn t care too much about the
students education. I felt that I wouldn t be properly prepared for college, and would instead be
forced into adjusting at a community college upon graduating. Warner Robins school system in
contrast was exceptional, as there were teacher s that cared about each students progression, and
there were about 25 30 students in each class. The teacher s stuck to the curriculum for each class,
and they believed by the end of each students high school experience, they would be ready for
college courses. I feel that every student needs a school system like this, but I know that not all
small cities are going to be like this, and not all large cities are going to bad school system like
Atlanta.
Living in a large city was a good experience for me and taught me a lot. You can meet a lot of
interesting people, and see a lot of amusing sites for fun, social outings. Every kid or person that
moves around a lot, hopes to end up in an city like Atlanta at least once. I got that chance, with my
only bad experience coming from being enrolled in the DeKalb County School System. In the end,
I enjoy living in Atlanta, and I find the big city life a better fit for

The Ethical Principles Of Respect For Autonomy
The case scenario presents Mark who has been involved in a car accident. Mark has suffered
significant internal bleeding and needs a blood transfusion immediately for his survival. This has
been clearly stated by his attending doctor. Mark is still conscious and oriented. Mark is a
Jehovah s Witness and receiving blood is against his religion. Mark signs a Refusal of Treatment
document stating his wish not to receive a blood transfusion under any circumstances. His
girlfriend, Pam, wants him to receive blood and is asking the nurse to administer blood despite
Mark s refusal. This situation presents an ethical dilemmato the health professionals involved in
Mark s care. The ethical dilemma is whether to uphold his decision not to receive the blood and
therefore risk his life or give him the blood to save his life despite knowing his religious status and
beliefs. There are several ethical principles involved in this scenario. The ethical principles of
respect for Autonomy, Beneficence, Non maleficence, Veracity and Fidelity will be discussed in
the latter part of this essay. There are also legal concepts to be considered in this scenario which
are legal principles of Consent and Right to refuse treatment which can also be addressed as the
contemporary issues that is being faced by the health practitioners these days.
Ethics is concerned about what is right, fair, just or good; about what we ought to do, not just
about what is the case or what is most acceptable or

The Harlem Renaissance Poets Essay
Assignment 2: Project Paper: Harlem Renaissance Poets
Karron Scott
Prof. Josiah Harry
HUM 112: World Cultures II
11/27/2012
The Harlem Renaissance was a wonderful allotment of advancement for the black poets and
writers of the 1920s and early 30s. I see the Harlem Renaissance as a time where people gather
together and express their work throughout the world for everyone to see the brilliance and talent
the black descendants harness.
The two authors I picked were W.E.B Du Bois and Langston Hughes. The reason why I picked
these two is because of the dedicated work they have flourished during the Harlem Renaissance.
W.E.B Du Bois was one of the most famous black political leaders during that time. Du Bois had a
lot of talent to bring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One poem I chose from Langston Hughes that grabbed my immediate attention is his poem The
Weary Blues . This poem written by Hughes is very powerful to me and expresses a deep message
within for all Americans during that time; double consciousness is notable all throughout the entire
poem. Langston Hughes, who was one of the main focal points of figures of the Harlem
Renaissance, tries to remain conscientious to his African American roots in his foundation. His
poem The Weary Blues is the perfect example of double consciousness. The author of the article
places an immersed question: Was Langston Hughes able to overcome the double consciousness
and take the pot luck with African origins and roots, or did he also not know how to manage to
escape from the assimilation in the melting pot of the American culture? Reading the poem from
him, he actually provides the answer, which he states that the poet succeeds in promoting the folk
(Black) tradition, having to compromise with the compulsory framing into American (White)
reality of the form and the content of the subject.
The idiopathic themes expressed in both, Langston Hughes and W.E.B Du Bois during their time
period were expounded in great detail. One line from W.E.B Du Bois poem The Song of the
Smoke said For blackness was ancient ere whiteness began , this shows the

Drug Abuse in the NFL What is the definition of drugs? Is it the simple explanation of a
substance we consume that is alien to our bodies, for better or worse? Or is it much more
complicated than that? Many would agree that people use them as an escape from reality, a way
to hide their pain in life, or a way to deal with stress. People who use illegal drugs for their own
benefit, whether it s for stress release or for performance enhancement, are drug abusers. In today s
society drug abuse is very common. Millions of Americans smoke weed, snort coke, or do heroin
and other hardcore drugs. The people who do this are a wide ... Show more content on

In recent months leading up to now, there have been quite a few cases of players abusing drugs,
which have led the NFL to consider changes to the policy. There are a handful of specific areas that
have been revised recently; these include HGH
Testing, Appeals, DUI Discipline, PED Discipline, Marijuana Threshold, and Marijuana
Discipline (DUI and PED discipline has been ramped up, and marijuana policy is more lax). The
NFL wanted to ease up on the punishments given out on marijuana abuse, and focus on cracking
down on DUI s and PED s. The punishments given are varied by what offense the player
commits. For one of the most popular of drugs, marijuana, a first time offender will be placed in
a substance abuse program without any suspension. A second offense leads to a two game fine.
Each additional violation leads to a four game fine, a four game suspension, and then a 10 game
suspension. So, a player can test positive for marijuana three times without getting suspended
(DUI and PED discipline has been ramped up, and marijuana policy is more lax). With DUI s
however, the league has become stricter. In the past, a first time offender was not suspended.
Today you get a two game ban for your first violation. Second time offenders get an 8 game
suspension and aggravating circumstances can lengthen the suspension. (DUI and PED discipline
has been ramped up, and marijuana policy is more lax). As for

Anti Retroviral Drugs For Hiv Essay
HIV is a virus that affects all parts of the globe. However, there are two major global epidemics.
The first being in the west and developing countries. In these areas the pattern of infection is found
in certain groups. These groups being drug injectors, gay men and prostitutes (Pisani p. ) This
epidemic is known as the concentrated epidemic . This particular pattern HIVspreads rapidly in a
concentrated groups. This is because you are most likely to pass on the virus when you are in
the first stage of HIV. In a concentrated tight knit group of people who are having several sex
partners and sharing needles with others it is easy for the virus to be transmitted. The other
epidemic pattern is seen in east and southern Africa as well as some parts of east Africa and the
Caribbean. This pattern is also known as generalised epidemic . This pattern is different because
HIV is in the general population appose to a concentrated population.
2. There are three different classes of anti retroviral drugs for HIV: a) The first class of drugs are
called the entry inhibitors. The entry inhibitors inhibit the HIV virus to bind to the T helper cells,
also called the CD4 T cells. In order for these cells to become infected the virus, the virus has to
bind and enter them. If the binding is eliminated therefore the virus can not enter the cell. b) The
second is called, integrase inhibitors. Once the virus has entered the host cell, it replicates it s DNA
into the cell. Integrate

Male Friendship in William ShakespeareВґs The Merchant of...
In 16th century England, platonic, passionate friendships between men were a commonality, and
this was the case for Bassanio and Antonio. The Merchant of Venice shows how Antonio s help in
Bassanio s pursuit for Portia s love is actually his way of showing love. Antonio gives Bassanio
financial support even though Bassanio already owes him money. He especially risks himself by
taking out a bid from Shylockbecause all of his assets are at sea. These actions can be seen as loyal
friendship, but Antonioexceeds friendship by taking a risky loan and putting his life in the hands of
a cruel Jew to assure the contentment of his dear friend. Antonio s actions overstep heterosexual
boundaries by plunging into a risky business ordeal so his friend can charm Portiain style.
The first scene where we are introduced to Antonio, he is speaking to his friends Salarino and
Gratiano. He is a melancholy, distressed character who proclaims I hold the world but as the
world, Gratiano, a stage where every man must play a part, and mine a sad one. (Act 1, Scene 1,
Page 4). This line becomes more important when Bassanio enters, and Gratiano and Salarino rush
themselves away, knowing that Antonio would prefer to be with Bassanio alone. After they leave,
Antonio presses Bassanio about the girl he is interested in. While this is a common thing to ask
among friends, deeper inquiry suggests that Antonio has deeper feelings for Bassanio. Thus the line
about the part Antonio plays in the world

Libraries Should Use Software Filters for Internet Access
Public libraries provide us with a large amount of information. Residents can borrow books from
libraries. Libraries also provide Internet access for everyone, including children. Since parents
cannot control what then children are seeing on the Internet in libraries, children can access
pornographic or violent sites easily. So, public libraries should restrict Internet access by utilizing
filtering software to prevent children from seeing those inappropriate sites. The American
Libraries Association (ALA) insists that it is improper for public libraries to use filtering software
since libraries have to provide broad materials for patrons. Their claim that filtering software ...

Finally, the ALA says that filtering software is made for the parental control in homes. It is not
suitable, they assert, for public libraries to use the software. Libraries should provide broad,
uncensored for their patrons. So information in libraries may be limited by filtering control. The
ALA also claims that public institutions are supported primarily by local public tax monies, so
libraries are obligated to meet the information needs of the entire community or school
population, while upholding the basic principles of the First Amendment ( American Library 1).
People tend to think that a lot of adult sited exist on the web pages because accessing rates of
those sites are very high. So people also think that restriction limits a large amount of
information and sites on the Internet. In fact, the adult sites account for a small percentage of
all. Estimates of the prevalence of adult sites range from one to three percent of all the Internet
web sites (Burt 2). The numbers of those sites look big, but it is just because there are many
visitors to those pages. Since the adult sites account for a small percentage of all sites, the web
sites that are restricted by filtering software must be a small portion as well. A library s mission is
to provide proper observation to patrons in communities, since it is free for everyone to get

Pluralism In America
America is no longer a primarily Christian nation. This has manifested itself in a multitude of ways,
including but not limited to: rampant sexual immorality, abuse of mind altering substances,
disregard for human life, and an overall hatred of the concept of authority. All of these things stem
back to a faulty understanding of the Biblical concept of Salvation. This faulty understanding
ultimately has existed since the beginning of Christianity. All throughout church history, the false
teaching regarding man s spiritual condition has reared its ugly head. One of the first recorded
false teachers in this area was a British monk by the name of Pelagius. Pelagius taught that man is
inherently good and that the sacrifice of Christ was ultimately... Show more content on

We think that Jesus was just a good teacher, or an example we should follow, and all we have to
do is simply live a good life and we will get to heaven. This is false on so many levels. But it is
not the only heresy in which we have to deal with to get to the root of American unbelief and/or
nominalism. The next heresy that we must cover is that of pluralism . Religious pluralism is
the belief that all roads lead to heaven. This belief has been propagated by such prominent figures
such as, Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Joel Osteen, and Pope Francis. This is a toxic idea that
upon reaching its conclusion, destroys truth. If everything is true, then why believe anything at
all? Now we must move to the final heresy plaguing America. The final heresy that America has
at large fallen prey to, is that of antinomianism, or easy believeism which has been propagated by
such men as Charles Ryrie, and Billy Graham. This believe purports that all one needs to do to
enter the kingdom is to simply believe historical facts about Jesus and you will be saved. It is
often adjoined to a sinner s prayer that is repeated en masse, and then the person who repeated the
prayer is then told that they are saved and their ticket is punched for heaven. This is a damnable
heresy from the pits of hell. The Bible no more teaches antinomianism than it does homosexuality.

The Vietnam War On The Movie, Platoon, As A Portal
Platoon
The Vietnam War was one the most controversial wars in America. This paper is meant to
examine the Vietnam War using the movie, Platoon, as a portal. Analyzing scenes in the movie
and how they pertain to the films ideology. The paper will look at the struggles presented in war
from the outlook of the grunt. It will look at the pro war and anti war view of propaganda. It will
look at the good and evil, right and wrong, conflicts in the film. How do these messages reflect
the reality of the war? Is the agenda to create a vision of reality or is the film simply a form of
entertainment?
The film, Platoon, is the perspective of the VietnamWar in 1967 through the eyes of Chris Taylor
(Charlie Sheen). Chris leaves school to enlist in combat and once he starts he quickly questions
his decision. He has two officers, Sergeant Barnes (Tom Berenger) and Sergeant Elias (Willem
Dafoe). The two officers have different views; Barnes, who wants revenge because he believes that
the VC (Viet Cong) ground troops are being safeguarded by a local village, and Elias, who has a
more peaceful, less violent demeanor. Tension builds between Barnes and Alias until Barnes shoots
a villager in the head, Elias intervenes preventing annihilation of the village inhabitants. This event
causes the platoon to split into two camps which pit against each other, causing conflict with the
enemy and the men in the platoon.
The film will be examined using the ideological film theory. The film

Notes On The Bond Bikers
Bikers are strange. They are tough, frightening, and sometimes a little crazy, but coming from a
biker, I can tell you: they are crazy in a completely sane way. The bond bikers share is a strong
one. Bikers are brothers, and it does not take much to create this bond. Strangers can become
friends overnight with the sole commonality of riding. Your background, your history, your
beliefs, none of it matters to them. What truly matters to them is whether or not you ride.
Obviously, I do not mean one of those biker gangs who have terrorized the community; I am
referring to anyone who may ride, it could be Mary Sue, who rides her little scooter to Sunday
pottery class or Big John, who rides The Hog across the country among all of us, for inexplicable
reasons, we share a bond. I realize it seems like I have no idea what I am talking about,
considering how little I match the typical Biker persona as a college freshman. Conversely, I can
assure you: I am a biker. Although the only real qualification to be a biker is motorcycle
ownership, there is an unusual coincidence among bikers a characteristic all bikers share.
Something about riding a bike changes you. Bikers possess a certain maturity unlike anything
else. I do not know if it has to do with confronting your own mortality, or the feeling of freedom
you get when escaping the trivialities of life. It could have something to do with the brotherhood
you get from fellow bikers, or if the experience puts everything else

Grades Are Not The Key
Grades are Not the Key I remember the first time that a grading rubric was attached to a piece of
writing for a grade; I was no longer exploring for me. I want to get that back. Will I ever get that
back? Said Claire, a student a student that goes to Olson University.(Alfiekohn.org) What she is

willingness to work and do not matter much because they do not affectyour life in the long run, it

This applies to the future for other for other jobs and schools as well. Grades do not affect your life
in the long run. A studentthat may learn nothing yet get a high score on their quiz or test, versus
someone who learns a lot but gets a low grade and unfortunately, colleges will not know any of
this. Some students may even have test anxiety, making them do bad on test. Around 40 60% of
students suffer from test anxiety.(healthycentral.org) So, around half of students have a chance of
doing poorly on a test despite learning a lot. Colleges may not know this part either; they also do
not know how much blood, sweat, and tears a student has put into the 12 14 grades before college.
Many amazing learning experiences do not even come from school. Then, if a student does not use
that information in school, they may think that it is useless learning information out of school.

Why are chickens important in the Village Valle del Sole? The Village Valle del Sole is located

Why Vittorio would make up a charm in the middle of the chicken ceremony? Not only that this
proof shows that Vittorio is superstitious, but that he has the imagination of chanting these words
to increase the mood of the ceremony. Last but not least is Vittorio s lucky coin. When the
flames from the chicken starts to grow, he had taken my lucky coin from my pocket now and
was rubbing it furiously, hoping to calm the spirits (Ricci 119). The lucky coin that Vittorio has

This is an excellent book for children 3 7 who may have difficulty understanding why they are
told no so often. The illustrations depict a mischief loving little boy with a large head and huge
smiles as he good naturedly causes pure chaos. Children are sure to find his antics hilarious.
However, along the way the book teaches that there is a good reason that the adult is telling the
boy no and even young kids can pick up on the logic behind the reprimand.
2.Seuss, Dr. The Cat in the Hat. New York: Random House, Inc., 1985. Print.
As always, Dr. Seuss ingenious rhyming scheme is creative as well as humorous. Kids will enjoy
the absurdity of the characters while learning about rhymes. The book also teaches that inviting
strangers into one s house is a very bad idea. It teaches this lesson firmly without introducing topics
that may scare young children. Overall, this book is a masterpiece and will continue to be popular
for many years to come.

Relationship Between Society And One s Own Personhood
According to Harry G. Frankfurt s writings, personhood is bound by one s wills and desires, and
the various ways these influence our actions. His philosophy focuses primarily on the mind and
how it guides out wills. Frankfurt, for example, does not allow for any external influences on
personal identity, nor does he allow the mind s interpretation of the body, resulting in a narrow
view on one s personhood. Susan J. Brison offers an alternative. Her piece, Outliving Oneself:
Trauma, Memory, and Personal Identity, describes the ways our relationships with both our body
and society influence our personhood. Along with Brison, ethicist J. S. Swindell s piece, Facial
Allograft Transplantation, Personal Identity, and Subjectivity, describes the effect facial allograft
surgeries have on the recipients. In this paper, I will examine the relationship between society and
one s own personhood, and argue that it is important to realize how both society and the mind s
relationship with the body influences one s self perceptions and personhood. Frankfurt s theories
on personhood primarily revolve around the relationship the mind establishes with wills and
desires, as well as the preferential treatment some wills receive over others, called second order
volitions. He rejects the belief that a personis an entity with both mental and physical properties, as
this definition would allow for many non human animals to be considered persons (Frankfurt 5). To

During the years 1781 to 1789, the Articles of Confederation was the bases of the current

The Role Of Uniform Law In The United States
Introduction
Almost seventy years ago Professor Hessel Yntema wrote that a large and diverse country needs a
complex governmental structure that balances national interests and local liberties. The resulting
complexity is accentuated by history. The United States traces its roots to geographically dispersed
communities of migrants from different countries. They brought with them different cultural
baggage. Followed by rapid industrialization, this introduced new problems and worsened old ones.
Industrial accidents, complex corporate structures, labour unions and urbanization have induced
increasingly detailed regulation. Yet, despite this complexity and diversity, Professor Yntema
suggests that there is a fundamental unity of law in the United ... Show more content on

Federalisation of law by Constitutional Decisions of the US Supreme Court
Supreme Court decisions instantly bring legal unification. The Court is best at prohibiting
contradictory legislation, but also does well on prescribing positive legislation. Where the Court
does prescribe these specific rules, typically these norms overwhelm any state rules. For
example, on January 21, 1973, first trimester abortion was legal in some states and illegal in
others. On January 22, 1973, when the Supreme Court decided the case of Roe v Wade, 410 U.S.
113 (1973), it became legal in all states.
While this approach has the upside of immediate applicability, it also has drawbacks. When
constitutionalizing an issue you largely eliminate legislative solutions. These legislative solutions
can be political compromises. They can change as political temperaments change. They can make
clear rules that are easy to apply, but may not be that easy to justify. Constitutional solutions are, by
the nature of American constitutional decision making, judge made solutions, normally no clear
rules. They invite litigation to change them or just to determine what they mean, for there is no
other way to obtain an authoritative interpretation. Other examples of unifying law through the US
Supreme Court are the Brady materials and the Miranda

facts of this case will become clear through explication.
2.Relevant Facts:
This scenario takes place in a school district with 40 schools and 35,000 students. Its superintendent
accepted a state level position and was subsequently replaced. As families move to the suburbs, the
district financially struggles to keep all four of its high schools open and considers closing one. The
schoolboard approached the idea previously but faced backlash. Thus, administrators now try to
resolve the problem behind closed doors. The superintendent and the schoolboard s members has
held more than one meeting about closing the school without media or members of the public
present. During one of these meetings, the superintendent stated, If any reporters show up, I will
change the subject. Although a public relations officer was appalled, at this point he said nothing.
Nevertheless, shortly after the meeting, some high schools principals began to spread news, and the
administration responded

King Congo King Analysis
King Leopold set his focus on the Congo because he wanted to rule a colony of his own,
something bigger than just little old Belgium, and the Congo provided that. It had waterways
that connected the land, as well as people that he could use as slaves. A book that he had read
titled Java, or How to Manage a Colony had sparked Leopold s interest for a colony of his own
(Hochschild, p. 37). According to the quote, In the mid 1870s, sub Saharan Africawas a logical place
for an aspiring colonialist to look...about 80% of the entire land area of Africa was still under
indigenous rulers. It was ripe for conquest or, as Leopold was now learning to say, for protection
(Hochschild, p. 42), this land was an opportunity for Leopold to finally build a colony; especially
after Stanley had found the CongoRiver during an expedition. Leopold s purpose was shaped by a
desire not only for money but for power (Hochschild, p. 39). The Congo s resources were rubber
and ivory, ivory was made into false teeth, or piano pieces, among other things and this produced
a lot of profits once sold. However, the profits for rubber were much higher than that of ivory.
The land itself provides the power that Leopold wanted. Leopold was successful in the sense that
he did become the ruler of the Congo, he did gain profits out it, he did have slaves that built
railways, as well as an army made majority of its own people, the natives. Leopold failed in the
sense that he thought the truth would never come to

Teen Suicides
Teen suicide in Colorado is at an all time high. It has become one of the biggest social problems
affecting all our lives in one way or another. It is a day to day experience and everyday news in
our society. It is the third leading cause of death within today s youth (Collegian). Along with so
many other things in the world that bring tragedy, it can be prevented. Douglas County needs to
consider preventing teen suicideby providing better, safer hotlines and resources, learning how to
help peers when they are down, and changing society s unrealistic expectations.
According to the Denver Post, Colorado s suicide rate, is one of the highest in the country.
Statewide, 50 young people ages 10 18 died by suicide in 2014. That number jumped to 72 in 2015
and remained high at 68 in 2016, according to state health department data. This year, 2017,
colorado has already handled eight teen suicides with three of them happening just last month.
(http://www.denverpost.com/2017/09/01/littleton student suicides social media posts/ )
Suicide is a very complex issue to understand. According to Colorado Dept. of Public Health and
Environment, The role social media plays in teen suicide and depression is also complex , she
said. It connects people going through similar problems even when they aren t close
geographically, yet, on the flip side, the filtered selfies and endless posts of others having fun can

Essay On Arizona In The 1890s
In Arizona, the 1890s marked the rise of a stronger economy, the importance of education, the slight
influence of religion, a multitude of brilliant accomplishments, and was vastly impacted by both
influential and infamous people. Historically, the 1890s was a great factor in the development of
Arizona s growth throughout the years. In fact, it was during these years that signs appeared to
suggest Arizona s eventual prosperity ( City of Phoenix History ).
The decade begins in 1890, when the popularity of copper began to override that of silver (
Arizona ). Arizonans traveled all the way to California to mine for copper ( Transportation ).

Essay On The Desert Storm
The Desert Storm or as some know, the Persian Gulf War, took place in August of 1990. Saddam
Hussein, the leader of Iraq was the main person involved in the start of the war. The war included
many allied countries, they included a big part of the Middle East, Canada, United States and the
United Kingdom and many more. After lasting 100 hours the war ended on February 28th, 1991
(The Gulf War,1991)
The Desert Storm, which is also known as the Persian Gulf War and known as Operation Desert
Storm, started at the end of the Cold War in 1990. The Desert Storm happened because Saddam
Hussein, who was the leader of Iraq ordered invasion and occupation of the neighboring country
of Kuwait, in August of 1990. Hussein was told by the United Nations Security Council to
withdraw from Kuwait by the middle of January 1991, and Hussein disregarded their demands.
Because he refused to withdraw the Persian Gulf War was triggered (Feinstein, 39). The Iraqi
takeover posed a threat to Saudi Arabia, which was another oil supplying country for the United
States. If Saudi Arabia took over by Hussein than he would have controlled one fifth of the world
s oil supply. The Middle East had their eyes on the White House, waiting for a response from
President George H. W. Bush. When he found out his response was, This will not stand, meaning
that Hussein taking over the Middle East s oil would not be tolerable (Operation Desert Storm).

transitions can be challenging and confronting. They can also be transformative and thus some
individuals accept and others reject because it ll often initiate a series of consequences that may

ideas are manifested in J.C Burke s, The story of Tom Brennan, a move about the transitionsthat

The Importance Of Sustainable Tourism
Sustainable tourism development merges environmental concerns with economic policy (Dresner,
S. 2008: 69) and allows for tourism s products in the form of intangible services or the natural
environment, to be environmentally cautious through a responsible trade off between production
and use of assets. Some influences apparent are environmental, social, and economical and it is
further important to emphasize that one or a combination of the aspects, with market cooperation,
creates a sustainable agenda. Travel services are increasingly seen as less of a luxury good and
more as an everyday purchase (Page, 2003:3) due to marketingbecoming more prominent which
means organisations must complete vigorous promotion strategies for long term viability.
Marketing therefore has a highly important role, as Holloway (2004) explains marketing
understands the needs and wants of customers, to what can be sold, to whom, when, where and in
what quantities (Holloway J.C. 2004:7). Holloway (2004) writes that successful organisations
anticipate demand recognising it, stimulating it and finally satisfying it (Holloway, J.C. 2004: 7).
Marketing is absolutely crucial within creating and maintaining a sustainable agenda in a variety of
ways, moreover reference to consistency among stages of development, unique benefits produced
from varied strategies, relevancy of market research, adapting to changing market demand and the
positive outcome of identifying new markets.

Paul is a good boy. I admire his talent. He reminds me of my own. Perhaps I have been too hard

Essay On Red Panda
I think the red panda should be kept in the zoo because it is categorised as a vulnerable species.
The population of the red panda is fewer than 10,000, some say as few as a couple of thousand,
remain in the wild. Almost 50% of the red panda live in the Eastern Himalayas in China. The loss
of nesting trees and bamboois causing a decline in red pandapopulations across much of their
range because their forest home is being cleared. Also, the red panda are often caught in traps
and die even though the traps were meant for wild pigs and deers. In addition, they are poached
for their distinctive pelts in China and Myanmar. To prevent further decrease in the red panda s
population, they should be protected, maybe in the enclosures. The captive population of red
pandas provides a backup population for the wild population. The red panda lives for 13.4 years
in enclosures, while in the wild the average lifespan is 8 to 10 years. Also, the gained knowledge
about the panda s situation may awake interest from visitors to the zoo to help save them. The red
pandas live in the Eastern Himalayas where there are a lot of bamboo. They eat the youngest, most
tender shoots and leaves of the bamboo plant which they like a lot. There are fewer... Show more

spend 13 hours a day looking for and eating bamboo. In colder temperatures, they slow their low
metabolic rate further and their thick fur allows them to conserve their body heat. Similar to
pandas, it can be assumed that red pandas started eating bamboo because in the glacial age,
bamboo was one of the few foods that the red panda did not need to compete

Since many people don`t take bullying serious, they are often left shocked and confused when an incident occurs as a result of bullying. This essay is about dealing with bullying and one teens desparate struggle to deal with the issue; which ultimately led to her suicide at the age of 15. There are many forms of bullying. Two types of bullying that Amanda experienced was emotional bullying, which includes spreading rumors, manipulating social relationships, or engaging in social exclusion, extortion, or intimidation and physical bullying which involves hitting, kicking, spitting, pushing, and taking personal belongings. The second form of bullying is sexual bullying, which involves sexual harassment and sexual abuse. (Regoli, Hewitt, Delisi,2014). There are many emotions experienced, when someone is bullied. Despite the fact, it might not show intially, a lot could be going on internally. As a result of being bullied Amanda experienced anxiety, major depression, and panic disorder. • 3. My Family At The United States Just like any other immigrants coming to the United States, my family was in search for a better life. My parents both came from Asia; my dad was from China and my mom was from Japan. Being a first generation American, I was considered Nisei. I lived in San Jose California and stayed there my whole life. My parents were hard working people and showed me what it meant to be truly American. I was an only child and was twelve years old when the United States was attacked by the Japanese military. My dad owned a store and my mom helped Japanese people come to America. She would provide temporary housing. I always remember playing with the kids coming from Japan, I could never understand them but they were really nice. After a few months they would pick up a few words. The neighborhood kids loved playing with them as well their parents. Every now and then my familyand other Niseis would experience some forms of discrimination, like waiting in lines longer at the movies, stores, and restaurants. Not to mention that all kinds of cultures received the same treatment. But for some reason the African American group had it a little harder than we did. After the attackon Pearl Harbor, my parents didn t let me play outside. Our neighbors and close friends turned on us. They forbidden their children to play with me at home and at school. At the time I didn t understand it. Also my dad would come home earlier than usual from work. He would always tell me that he just wanted more father ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Runway Collision of United Express 5925 and Beechcraft King Air N1127D Abstract On November nineteen, nineteen hundred and ninety six a United Express Beechcraft nineteen hundred took off from Chicago. After an intermediate stop at Burlington, Iowa the aircraft took off again for Quincy, Illinois at four forty PM. As the Beechcraftwas approaching Quincy, two aircraft were ready for departure. Beechcraft King Air and Piper Cherokee were taxiing to runway zero four. Since Quincy is an uncontrolled airport, all three aircraft used a common traffic advisory frequency (CTAF). As the United Express Beechcraft was getting ready to land on runway thirteen, it was under the impression that the King ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Contributing to the cause of the accident was the Cherokee pilot s interrupted radio transmission, which led to the Beech 1900C pilots misunderstanding of the transmission as an indication from the King Air that it would not take off until after flight 5925 had cleared the runway. Contributing to the severity of the accident and the loss of life was the lack of adequate aircraft rescue and firefighting services, and the failure of the air stair door on the Beech 1900C to open. The Safety Board remarked that Quincy Fire Department that responded to the accident was ten miles away and did not arrive on scene until fourteen minutes after the accident. They contrasted that observation with FAR Part 139 requirements that certificated airports be capable of immediate response times of three minutes by on site ARFF trucks equipped with extraction tools and staffed with properly trained firefighters. The Board noted that this FAA requirement applies only when the airport is being actively served by air carrier aircraft with seating capacity of more than thirty passengers. The Quincy Airport ARFF truck was parked about 1,800 feet from the accident site, and if properly staffed, it could have reached the burning wreckage in less than one minute. Fire fighters might have then have been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Moving To Atlanta I grew up and spent most of my life living up north in Waldorf, Maryland, as my mother and step father are employed by the U.S Military. They were stationed on Andrews Air Force Base for eight years, but in 2006 they were both moved to Robins Air Force Base, in Warner Robins, Georgia. During this time I moved to Atlanta to live with my dad for a year, before moving to Warner Robins to live with my mom again. Upon arriving in the small city of Warner Robins, I noticed a big difference in the population, social life, and education. The city of Atlanta is full of people, and is growing by the numbers everyday. A lot of people move here for schooling, a new career, cheaper living, and for the high city lifestyle. Whereas for Warner Robins, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only problem I had with schooling was with the curriculum, as it was harder than any other school I had previously attended, and staffed a lot of teachers who didn t care too much about the students education. I felt that I wouldn t be properly prepared for college, and would instead be forced into adjusting at a community college upon graduating. Warner Robins school system in contrast was exceptional, as there were teacher s that cared about each students progression, and there were about 25 30 students in each class. The teacher s stuck to the curriculum for each class, and they believed by the end of each students high school experience, they would be ready for college courses. I feel that every student needs a school system like this, but I know that not all small cities are going to be like this, and not all large cities are going to bad school system like Atlanta. Living in a large city was a good experience for me and taught me a lot. You can meet a lot of interesting people, and see a lot of amusing sites for fun, social outings. Every kid or person that moves around a lot, hopes to end up in an city like Atlanta at least once. I got that chance, with my only bad experience coming from being enrolled in the DeKalb County School System. In the end, I enjoy living in Atlanta, and I find the big city life a better fit for ... Mark has suffered significant internal bleeding and needs a blood transfusion immediately for his survival. This has been clearly stated by his attending doctor. Mark is still conscious and oriented. Mark is a Jehovah s Witness and receiving blood is against his religion. Mark signs a Refusal of Treatment document stating his wish not to receive a blood transfusion under any circumstances. His girlfriend, Pam, wants him to receive blood and is asking the nurse to administer blood despite Mark s refusal. This situation presents an ethical dilemmato the health professionals involved in Mark s care. The ethical dilemma is whether to uphold his decision not to receive the blood and therefore risk his life or give him the blood to save his life despite knowing his religious status and beliefs. There are several ethical principles involved in this scenario. • 9. The Harlem Renaissance Poets Essay Assignment 2: Project Paper: Harlem Renaissance Poets Karron Scott Prof. Josiah Harry HUM 112: World Cultures II 11/27/2012 The Harlem Renaissance was a wonderful allotment of advancement for the black poets and writers of the 1920s and early 30s. I see the Harlem Renaissance as a time where people gather together and express their work throughout the world for everyone to see the brilliance and talent the black descendants harness. The two authors I picked were W.E.B Du Bois and Langston Hughes. The reason why I picked these two is because of the dedicated work they have flourished during the Harlem Renaissance. W.E.B Du Bois was one of the most famous black political leaders during that time. Du Bois had a lot of talent to bring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One poem I chose from Langston Hughes that grabbed my immediate attention is his poem The Weary Blues . This poem written by Hughes is very powerful to me and expresses a deep message within for all Americans during that time; double consciousness is notable all throughout the entire poem. Langston Hughes, who was one of the main focal points of figures of the Harlem Renaissance, tries to remain conscientious to his African American roots in his foundation. His poem The Weary Blues is the perfect example of double consciousness. The author of the article places an immersed question: Was Langston Hughes able to overcome the double consciousness and take the pot luck with African origins and roots, or did he also not know how to manage to escape from the assimilation in the melting pot of the American culture? Reading the poem from him, he actually provides the answer, which he states that the poet succeeds in promoting the folk (Black) tradition, having to compromise with the compulsory framing into American (White) reality of the form and the content of the subject. The idiopathic themes expressed in both, Langston Hughes and W.E.B Du Bois during their time period were expounded in great detail. Is it the simple explanation of a substance we consume that is alien to our bodies, for better or worse? Or is it much more complicated than that? Many would agree that people use them as an escape from reality, a way to hide their pain in life, or a way to deal with stress. In recent months leading up to now, there have been quite a few cases of players abusing drugs, which have led the NFL to consider changes to the policy. There are a handful of specific areas that have been revised recently; these include HGH Testing, Appeals, DUI Discipline, PED Discipline, Marijuana Threshold, and Marijuana Discipline (DUI and PED discipline has been ramped up, and marijuana policy is more lax). The NFL wanted to ease up on the punishments given out on marijuana abuse, and focus on cracking down on DUI s and PED s. The punishments given are varied by what offense the player commits. For one of the most popular of drugs, marijuana, a first time offender will be placed in a substance abuse program without any suspension. A second offense leads to a two game fine. Each additional violation leads to a four game fine, a four game suspension, and then a 10 game suspension. So, a player can test positive for marijuana three times without getting suspended (DUI and PED discipline has been ramped up, and marijuana policy is more lax). With DUI s however, the league has become stricter. In the past, a first time offender was not suspended. Today you get a two game ban for your first violation. • 12. Anti Retroviral Drugs For Hiv Essay HIV is a virus that affects all parts of the globe. However, there are two major global epidemics. The first being in the west and developing countries. In these areas the pattern of infection is found in certain groups. These groups being drug injectors, gay men and prostitutes (Pisani p. ) This epidemic is known as the concentrated epidemic . This particular pattern HIVspreads rapidly in a concentrated groups. This is because you are most likely to pass on the virus when you are in the first stage of HIV. In a concentrated tight knit group of people who are having several sex partners and sharing needles with others it is easy for the virus to be transmitted. The other epidemic pattern is seen in east and southern Africa as well as some parts of east Africa and the Caribbean. This pattern is also known as generalised epidemic . This pattern is different because HIV is in the general population appose to a concentrated population. 2. There are three different classes of anti retroviral drugs for HIV: a) The first class of drugs are called the entry inhibitors. The entry inhibitors inhibit the HIV virus to bind to the T helper cells, also called the CD4 T cells. In order for these cells to become infected the virus, the virus has to bind and enter them. If the binding is eliminated therefore the virus can not enter the cell. b) The second is called, integrase inhibitors. Once the virus has entered the host cell, it replicates it s DNA into the cell. • 13. Male Friendship in William ShakespeareВґs The Merchant of... In 16th century England, platonic, passionate friendships between men were a commonality, and this was the case for Bassanio and Antonio. The Merchant of Venice shows how Antonio s help in Bassanio s pursuit for Portia s love is actually his way of showing love. Antonio gives Bassanio financial support even though Bassanio already owes him money. He especially risks himself by taking out a bid from Shylockbecause all of his assets are at sea. These actions can be seen as loyal friendship, but Antonioexceeds friendship by taking a risky loan and putting his life in the hands of a cruel Jew to assure the contentment of his dear friend. Antonio s actions overstep heterosexual boundaries by plunging into a risky business ordeal so his friend can charm Portiain style. The first scene where we are introduced to Antonio, he is speaking to his friends Salarino and Gratiano. He is a melancholy, distressed character who proclaims I hold the world but as the world, Gratiano, a stage where every man must play a part, and mine a sad one. (Act 1, Scene 1, Page 4). This line becomes more important when Bassanio enters, and Gratiano and Salarino rush themselves away, knowing that Antonio would prefer to be with Bassanio alone. After they leave, Antonio presses Bassanio about the girl he is interested in. While this is a common thing to ask among friends, deeper inquiry suggests that Antonio has deeper feelings for Bassanio. Thus the line about the part Antonio plays in the world ... • 29. Relationship Between Society And One s Own Personhood According to Harry G. Frankfurt s writings, personhood is bound by one s wills and desires, and the various ways these influence our actions. His philosophy focuses primarily on the mind and how it guides out wills. Frankfurt, for example, does not allow for any external influences on personal identity, nor does he allow the mind s interpretation of the body, resulting in a narrow view on one s personhood. Susan J. Brison offers an alternative. Her piece, Outliving Oneself: Trauma, Memory, and Personal Identity, describes the ways our relationships with both our body and society influence our personhood. Along with Brison, ethicist J. S. Swindell s piece, Facial Allograft Transplantation, Personal Identity, and Subjectivity, describes the effect facial allograft surgeries have on the recipients. In this paper, I will examine the relationship between society and one s own personhood, and argue that it is important to realize how both society and the mind s relationship with the body influences one s self perceptions and personhood. Frankfurt s theories on personhood primarily revolve around the relationship the mind establishes with wills and desires, as well as the preferential treatment some wills receive over others, called second order volitions. He rejects the belief that a personis an entity with both mental and physical properties, as this definition would allow for many non human animals to be considered persons (Frankfurt 5). • 37. The Role Of Uniform Law In The United States Introduction Almost seventy years ago Professor Hessel Yntema wrote that a large and diverse country needs a complex governmental structure that balances national interests and local liberties. The resulting complexity is accentuated by history. The United States traces its roots to geographically dispersed communities of migrants from different countries. They brought with them different cultural baggage. Followed by rapid industrialization, this introduced new problems and worsened old ones. Industrial accidents, complex corporate structures, labour unions and urbanization have induced increasingly detailed regulation. Yet, despite this complexity and diversity, Professor Yntema suggests that there is a fundamental unity of law in the United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Federalisation of law by Constitutional Decisions of the US Supreme Court Supreme Court decisions instantly bring legal unification. The Court is best at prohibiting contradictory legislation, but also does well on prescribing positive legislation. Where the Court does prescribe these specific rules, typically these norms overwhelm any state rules. For example, on January 21, 1973, first trimester abortion was legal in some states and illegal in others. On January 22, 1973, when the Supreme Court decided the case of Roe v Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973), it became legal in all states. While this approach has the upside of immediate applicability, it also has drawbacks. When constitutionalizing an issue you largely eliminate legislative solutions. These legislative solutions can be political compromises. They can change as political temperaments change. They can make clear rules that are easy to apply, but may not be that easy to justify. Constitutional solutions are, by the nature of American constitutional decision making, judge made solutions, normally no clear rules. They invite litigation to change them or just to determine what they mean, for there is no other way to obtain an authoritative interpretation. Other examples of unifying law through the US Supreme Court are the Brady materials and the Miranda ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It had waterways that connected the land, as well as people that he could use as slaves. A book that he had read titled Java, or How to Manage a Colony had sparked Leopold s interest for a colony of his own (Hochschild, p. 37). According to the quote, In the mid 1870s, sub Saharan Africawas a logical place for an aspiring colonialist to look...about 80% of the entire land area of Africa was still under indigenous rulers. It was ripe for conquest or, as Leopold was now learning to say, for protection (Hochschild, p. 42), this land was an opportunity for Leopold to finally build a colony; especially after Stanley had found the CongoRiver during an expedition. Leopold s purpose was shaped by a desire not only for money but for power (Hochschild, p. 39). The Congo s resources were rubber and ivory, ivory was made into false teeth, or piano pieces, among other things and this produced a lot of profits once sold. However, the profits for rubber were much higher than that of ivory. The land itself provides the power that Leopold wanted. • 51. The Importance Of Sustainable Tourism Sustainable tourism development merges environmental concerns with economic policy (Dresner, S. 2008: 69) and allows for tourism s products in the form of intangible services or the natural environment, to be environmentally cautious through a responsible trade off between production and use of assets. Some influences apparent are environmental, social, and economical and it is further important to emphasize that one or a combination of the aspects, with market cooperation, creates a sustainable agenda. Maestro Maestro Internal Monologue Eduard Keller Intervention at page 71 Weeping like a baby, I walk away from the frustrating, sweet music that hides such devastating and infuriating emotions. Like a bright red rose that smells of redolent, aromatic fragrance satisfying the nose, yet with thorns that impair when tempted. How insulting! How could they play Wagner? Although I knew that the orchestra would of course play Wagner, it seems that every time, I hope for something better; to keep my mindfrom compelling me to return back those memories. It is my fault. Every time I hear that dreadful music a wave of sentiment comes crashing down on top of me, leaving me to drown in horrifying memories. Even ones of when I used to smile. The ... • 55. Essay On Red Panda I think the red panda should be kept in the zoo because it is categorised as a vulnerable species. The population of the red panda is fewer than 10,000, some say as few as a couple of thousand, remain in the wild. Almost 50% of the red panda live in the Eastern Himalayas in China. The loss of nesting trees and bamboois causing a decline in red pandapopulations across much of their range because their forest home is being cleared. Also, the red panda are often caught in traps and die even though the traps were meant for wild pigs and deers. In addition, they are poached for their distinctive pelts in China and Myanmar. To prevent further decrease in the red panda s population, they should be protected, maybe in the enclosures. The captive population of red pandas provides a backup population for the wild population. The red panda lives for 13.4 years in enclosures, while in the wild the average lifespan is 8 to 10 years. Also, the gained knowledge about the panda s situation may awake interest from visitors to the zoo to help save them. The red pandas live in the Eastern Himalayas where there are a lot of bamboo. They eat the youngest, most tender shoots and leaves of the bamboo plant which they like a lot. There are fewer... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fortunately, their favourite bamboo species still thrives in parts of the Himalayas. Bamboo is very high in indigestible fiber, making it very difficult to extract the nutrients, but is available in winter when their other preferred foods (such as insects) are not. When food is scarce they can spend 13 hours a day looking for and eating bamboo. In colder temperatures, they slow their low metabolic rate further and their thick fur allows them to conserve their body heat. Similar to pandas, it can be assumed that red pandas started eating bamboo because in the glacial age, bamboo was one of the few foods that the red panda did not need to compete ...
