Vietnam has made English proficiency in its IT workforce a priority, with English becoming compulsory in secondary schools and over 90% of university students studying it. There are over 1,800 English teaching centers nationwide serving over 500,000 learners annually to improve English skills according to standardized tests. More than 30 universities teach IT courses in English to develop an English-proficient IT workforce, with typical English exam scores of TOEIC 450-550 for IT graduates of top universities in major cities. As a result, Vietnam has been ranked among the top two countries globally and top five in Asia for English proficiency of its IT workforce.
