To All Staff Members:
The move to our new offices is scheduled to take place during the coming weekend.
In order for things to run smoothly during this weekend’s move, everyone is required to clean out their own
desk and pack up the contents in boxes prior to leaving the office this Friday. Boxes will be provided to
you in your work area on Thursday afternoon. You are also asked to please remove everything from the
walls of your work area and pack those items in the boxes along with all of your other belongings and work
materials.
If you have a lot of personal belongings, you should take them home with you before the move. Likewise,
do the same for any valuables. During the confusion of a move such as this, it is easy to misplace and/or
lose track of things, so in the case of your personal belongings and valuables it is better to be safe than

Taj Mahal, an epitome of love, is actually a mausoleum. Standing majestically on the banks of
River Yamuna, the Taj Mahal is synonymous with love and romance. Taj Mahal was constructed
by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife and queen. The name “Taj
Mahal” was derived from the name of Shah Jahan’s wife, Mumtaz Mahal, which means crown of
palaces.
Taj Mahal represents the finest architectural and artistic achievement. The mausoleum was
constructed of pure white marble. The white marble is inlaid with semiprecious stones (including
jade, crystal, lapis lazuli, amethyst and turquoise) that form the intricate designs. Its central dome
reaches a height of 240 feet (73 meters). The dome is surrounded by four smaller domes. Four
slender towers, or minarets, stand at the corners. Inside the mausoleum, an octagonal marble
chamber adorned with carvings and semiprecious stones house the false tomb of Mumtaz Mahal.
Her actual remains lie below, at garden level.
Taj Mahal shows shades of magnificent beauty at different time during the day. At dawn
when the first rays of the sun hits the dome of this epic monument, it radiates like a heavenly
pinkish palace. At daytime, when the sky is bright and clear, the Taj looks milky white. At a
moonlit night when the full moon rays fall on the glistening white marble, the cool moon rays
reflect back from the white marble and give the Taj Mahal a tinge of blue color. It’s simply
breathtaking! With such beauty, no wonder that Taj Mahal becomes one of the Seven Wonders of

Snoring is a common condition that can affect anyone, although it occurs more frequently in
men and people who are overweight. Snoring has a tendency to worsen with age.
Snoring occurs when the flow of air through the mouth and nose is physically obstructed. Air
flow can be obstructed by a combination of factors. Firstly, some people snore due to obstructed
nasal airways. It usually happens during allergy seasons, when they have sinus infection, or when
they have deformities of the nose structure. Secondly, some people may have poor muscle tone in
the throat and tongue due to deep sleep, alcohol consumption, use of some sleeping pills, and even
normal aging. As a result, these too relaxed muscles can collapse and fall back into the airway.
Next, some people have bulky throat tissue. Bulky throat tissue can be caused by being overweight
or, in children, by large tonsils and adenoids, the enlarged tissue between the back of the nose and
throat. Lastly, a long soft palate (the roof of the mouth) and a long uvula (the dangling
tissue in the back of the mouth) can narrow the opening from the nose to the throat. When these
structures vibrate and bump against one another the airway becomes obstructed.
There are two types of snoring. Occasional snoring is usually not very serious and is mostly
a nuisance for your bed partner. However, if you are a habitual snorer, you not only disrupt the
sleep patterns of those close to you, but you also impair your own sleep quality. Medical assistance
Page 15 of 17
is often needed for habitual snorers to get a good night's sleep.

Working and going to school is challenging, it can be a rewarding experience if you use
some foresight. However, you’d better think a hundred times before you decide to take a part time
job. There are a lot of things that should be considered to take a part time job.
Working and still maintaining a good grade at school is not an easy task. Having less time
for schoolwork becomes the main negative effect. Consequently, many students who work part
time fail to perform at their best both on schoolwork and on examinations. Moreover, a part- time
job can really interfere with the students’ free time. It also cuts into their studies or social life.
On the positive side, a part time job helps students to support day to day living expenses.
Working can be a valuable part of a student’s life. Students can derive a great deal from working.
In most cases, they can acquire a nice dose of discipline and a whole new set of skills and
experiences. Another benefit of part time work is the opportunity to expand the resume. Ideally, a
student should try to find a job that is related in some way to his or her selected field of study. But
if not, a student can still gain some work experience and develop his or her skills.
Working takes a lot of time and energy, so students need to make sure to be able to handle
both employment and their current commitments. Finally, if you are considering working part time,
talk to your school counsellor to discuss this move. Explaining your goals to someone else can help
you make decisions and figure out your priorities.
48. The writer’s purpose in writing the text is to discuss ….
A. the reason why students should take part time jobs
B. the consequence for students of taking part time jobs
C. the positive impacts for students of taking part time jobs
D. the best decision for students to take part time jobs

Standing majestically on the banks of River Yamuna, the Taj Mahal is synonymous with love and romance. Taj Mahal was constructed by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife and queen. The name “Taj Mahal” was derived from the name of Shah Jahan’s wife, Mumtaz Mahal, which means crown of palaces. Taj Mahal represents the finest architectural and artistic achievement. The mausoleum was constructed of pure white marble. The white marble is inlaid with semiprecious stones (including jade, crystal, lapis lazuli, amethyst and turquoise) that form the intricate designs. Its central dome reaches a height of 240 feet (73 meters). The dome is surrounded by four smaller domes. Four slender towers, or minarets, stand at the corners. Inside the mausoleum, an octagonal marble chamber adorned with carvings and semiprecious stones house the false tomb of Mumtaz Mahal. Her actual remains lie below, at garden level. Taj Mahal shows shades of magnificent beauty at different time during the day. At dawn when the first rays of the sun hits the dome of this epic monument, it radiates like a heavenly pinkish palace. At daytime, when the sky is bright and clear, the Taj looks milky white. At a moonlit night when the full moon rays fall on the glistening white marble, the cool moon rays reflect back from the white marble and give the Taj Mahal a tinge of blue color. It’s simply breathtaking! With such beauty, no wonder that Taj Mahal becomes one of the Seven Wonders of the World.

Snoring has a tendency to worsen with age. Snoring occurs when the flow of air through the mouth and nose is physically obstructed. Air flow can be obstructed by a combination of factors. Firstly, some people snore due to obstructed nasal airways. It usually happens during allergy seasons, when they have sinus infection, or when they have deformities of the nose structure. Secondly, some people may have poor muscle tone in the throat and tongue due to deep sleep, alcohol consumption, use of some sleeping pills, and even normal aging. As a result, these too relaxed muscles can collapse and fall back into the airway. Next, some people have bulky throat tissue. Bulky throat tissue can be caused by being overweight or, in children, by large tonsils and adenoids, the enlarged tissue between the back of the nose and throat. Lastly, a long soft palate (the roof of the mouth) and a long uvula (the dangling tissue in the back of the mouth) can narrow the opening from the nose to the throat. When these structures vibrate and bump against one another the airway becomes obstructed. There are two types of snoring. Occasional snoring is usually not very serious and is mostly a nuisance for your bed partner. However, if you are a habitual snorer, you not only disrupt the sleep patterns of those close to you, but you also impair your own sleep quality. Medical assistance
