Hi, my name is
Azlina . Nice to
meet you.
ENGLISH AND
COMMUNICATION
• Today's jobs require English communication skills. With technology
rapidly changing and expanding globalization, it seems that we are living
in an increasingly communication-driven world. There are very few
professions where employees can thrive without sharp English
communication skills.
DEFINITION ENGLISH
• English is a lingua franca, meaning it is a “bridge” language: When
two people who speak different non-English languages meet, very
often the common language they use to connect is English.
Good morning. Hi
I’am from Malaysia.
Where are you from?
Good morning too.
I’am from United
Kingdom. Nice to
meet you
English is spoken by about 2 billion people
today around the world.
It is the number one language learned by speakers of
other languages.
More people use English communication as a second
language than they do their own native language. There
is a campaign all over the world where English is the
second language.

THE DEFINITION OF COMMUNICATION
o Communication is described as, “an act of
interchanging ideas, information, or messages from
one person or place to another, via words or signs
which are understood to both parties.” It’s a crucial
activity for any group of beings, because it is the
means by which members of the group cooperate
together.
o Communication is necessary for any group to
function effectively. It is, at its core, a two-way
activity, consisting of seven major elements: sender,
message, encoding, channel, receiver, decoding,
and feedback.
o A message is encoded then sent from one individual
(sender) to another (receiver), through a channel.
That message is then decoded and given feedback,
if communicated effectively.
What’s so important about English and
communication
• The advance of the internet caused many changes in
all aspects, but the reality couldn’t be further from the
prediction. Communication with others through texts,
social media, and email is increasingly important.
• More messages means more potential for
misunderstandings.
• Technology has joined together the world in ways we
wouldn’t have imagined just a few decades ago, but
this interconnectivity also requires proficient language
skills.
ADVANTAGES OF ENGLISH AND
COMMUNICATION
Improve and widen employment opportunities
Improve communication skills
Improve your confidence
THANK YOU
