Introduction
Effective communication is important for the success of any business. According to statistical reports from Forbes, the corporate with the best communication tools achieve their objectives easily as compared to businesses with poor communication. Consequently, the aim of this presentation is to help business managers to understand the usage of effective communication tools to improve communication to all the stakeholders in the organizations. Although the basic responsibility of a business manager is to motivate the employees to give out their potential, this cannot be achieved without effective communication. It is therefore the responsibility of a business manager to identify the communication needs and provide effective strategies aimed at improving communication between the stakeholders. Therefore, business managers should understand that communication is significant since it helps in delegation of the basic management functions.
Communication Problems in My Company
There are several communication problems that have been identified in my company. Failure of delegation of duties is one of the main communication barriers for any business. Every employee expects the management to provide sufficient information for the kind of business that they are supposed to work. Lack of a common code of conduct also prevents the organization from having a common language that can be used to delegate duti.

Communication plays a vital role in organizational behavior. Effective communication that is accurate and supportive can increase morale and productivity, while miscommunication reduces productivity and increases errors. Maintaining clear, consistent communication encourages productive workplace behavior and customer satisfaction. There are various methods of communication, both verbal like oral communication and written like emails, as well as nonverbal cues from body language that impact organizational communication. However, communication can be influenced by barriers like improperly designed reporting structures, unclear performance standards, and misinterpreted messages, so organizations must find ways to improve communication flows and overcome barriers.
The document discusses the key concepts of communication including:
- Communication is defined as the process of transmitting information between individuals through various means such as messages, calls, or other signals.
- Effective communication is important for organizations to coordinate activities, make decisions, and achieve objectives. It allows for the exchange of information across different levels and helps management functions like planning and controlling.
- Communication can be verbal, involving spoken or written exchanges, and non-verbal, using cues like body language and gestures. Both have important functions in conveying meaning.
- The communication process involves a sender transmitting a message through a medium to a receiver, who then provides feedback. However, there are factors like noise that can interfere with effective transmission

1. Explain effective communication norms in a business setting
The idea that people need to have feedback, appreciation and information is a good basis for understanding how and why excellent business communication is important and compelling for success. In fact, not only do they need it for appreciation, they need it to continue to be effective and be successful. If we do not give feedback and communicate we will lose our influence and cut into creating successful results. Some of the basic business communication norms include responding to business needs. These needs include returning phone calls, following up on a request, listening intently, appreciative communication, and clear communications with details and directions, doing what you say you will do, remembering what is important to them, and valuing what is most important to them (Thompson, 2009).
Our communication styles and methods are being stretched to the limit by email, technology, lack of time and demands on our ability to do so much in our days.
Email – not only should you be returning emails in a timely way, but you need to set the context each and every time of why the email is important and what information it is that you want to deliver.
Cell phones – the ring tones that are available now are fun outside of the office, networking situations, client lunches, etc. Put them on vibrate or shut them off. Take and make calls when you are with people sparingly. Most people are not interested in listening to your conversations no matter how stimulating you think they might be.
Returning phone calls –Whether you think you have time to return the call or not, find out what people need, make sure you are clear on whether you can help them or not and then get back to your own work. People who return phone calls are trusted and respected. You do not need to make the calls long.
Handshake, body language and eye contact – ask a friend to shake hands with you and then ask them to give you feedback. Firm is good. Learn to look at a person when they
are speaking. A good part of our non verbal communication is our body – watch what your body is saying about you.
Business cards – get one and have them with you at ALL times. Do include an address, email and phone number. Name and what you do – a title is very good. If your company does not provide a business card, get one for yourself anyway.
2. Describe the role of interpersonal communication both as a manager and as an employee. What specific techniques have you used to overcome barriers to communication? Be sure to specify your role in the communication.

Texting As a Form of Communication in BusinessVishal Sharma
The document provides an overview of the use and impact of texting as a form of business communication. It discusses how texting has become widely used in businesses for internal and external communication. While texting provides instant connection and can strengthen personal relationships, it can also lead to negatives like a loss of productivity and a disconnect between parties. The document recommends guidelines for appropriate business texting but concludes that texting may have peaked and is unlikely to revolutionize communication due to an inability to replace in-person interactions.
This document discusses organizational communication. It begins by defining communication and explaining that communication is the process of transmitting information from one person to another. It then discusses the objectives, importance, and forms of communication within organizations. Specifically, it explains that communication allows organizations to achieve goals, coordinate actions, make decisions, and express emotions. The document also summarizes the communication process, types of communication (written, oral, nonverbal), and forms of organizational communication (vertical, informal). Finally, it discusses gateways and barriers to effective communication like noise, timing, channels, information, and structure.

Solution
Reports are only used to extract and present data for viewing and printing.
Forms are a generic term for windows used to interact with users. A form can accept data from a user for data entry or to provide input to a query. A form can present data to a user, e.g. the results of a query.
Forms are intended more for simple/limited data interaction where reports are used to present, typically, larger volumes of data
Communication is the essence of life. Every day, millions of messages are sent and received both verbally and nonverbally. Whether it is the president making a speech, a billboard promoting a product or a professor lecturing to a class, communication has the power to shape and change culture, society and the lives of individuals. Communication is simply conveying information to another person in a way they fully understand. Ineffective communication can lead to confusion, frustration and low morale.
Function
The function of effective communication is to accurately relay a particular message in such a way that the listener understands. Communication is used to inform, correct, share emotions and educate. If communication is ineffective it has the power to hurt, confuse and misinform the listener. The function of effective communication can be best seen in the business world. If a company is able to effectively communicate with its workers, they will feel empowered, informed and appreciated.
Types
The two types of communication are verbal and nonverbal. Verbal communication is the oral use of words to send a message. Nonverbal communications are messages that are sent and received without the use of words. For example, if you say,

Importance of Business Communication & Communication in an Organization 1.pdfALFNETCOMMUNICATIONS
Communication is essential for effective management and business operations. It allows organizations to plan, organize, lead and control activities. Effective communication helps disseminate information, build understanding, and get feedback. In large organizations, communication flows in multiple directions - downward from superiors to subordinates, upward from subordinates to superiors, laterally between peers, and diagonally between different work groups. Maintaining open communication channels is important for coordination, motivation, decision making, and developing positive attitudes among employees. Overall, effective communication is critical for the success and growth of any organization.
This document discusses communication, including its definition, elements, and barriers. It defines communication as the process of sending and receiving information between two or more people. The main elements are the sender, who encodes the message, and the receiver, who decodes it. There are four types of barriers that can disrupt communication: process, physical, semantic, and psychosocial. Effective communication is a two-way process that requires effort from both the sender and receiver through skills like active listening. The document provides suggestions for improving communication, such as clarifying roles, writing clear emails, conducting organized meetings, and addressing cultural differences.
Communication involves the exchange of information between two or more parties to create understanding. It can be written, oral, formal through official channels, or informal through unofficial connections. Effective communication requires understanding the audience, conveying the appropriate information clearly and concisely, and providing feedback. Both written and oral communication have advantages like creating records and allowing interaction, but can also pose challenges in interpretation and lack of clarification without feedback. Formal communication flows through official reporting lines while informal communication occurs through personal relationships. Developing strong written and oral skills is important for business interactions and relationships.
Communication is a multi-step process involving the transmission of ideas between two or more individuals. Effective communication requires transmitting a message, sending it through a medium, receiving feedback, understanding the idea, and providing a response. There are various types of communication channels, including formal and informal methods. Formal channels provide clarity and documentation but can restrict information sharing, while informal channels allow for rapid sharing but lack structure. Overcoming barriers like listening issues is key to ensuring messages are understood across communication channels in organizations.
WHAT DOES IT MEANCommunication is the ability to effectively, acc.docxtwilacrt6k5
WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
Communication is the ability to effectively, accurately, and succinctly convey a point through written or oral medium in a global environment.
Effective communication is characterized as use of the correct medium and style to share information.
Effective communication may also require visual aids. Accurate communication contains proper grammar and clear dialogue. Accurate communication is achieved through proofreading and rewriting. Succinct communication is important in a fast pace environment where ideas must be quickly exchanged (Quinn, 2014). Succinct communication may require lists and formatting to draw attention to important points. Communication occurs consistently and it is important to know the various aspects of this skill, starting with value in the workplace.

VALUE
IN THE WORKPLACE
Communication skills have value throughout the student's career path. A survey of executives placed communication ahead of other soft skills as an "extremely important" skill in today's workplace (Robles, 2012, p.455). Strong and well developed communication skills help establish credibility and build working relationships. The ability to verbalize understanding of one's job duties and to ask relevant questions provides a foundation for significant contributions. For example, a customer may call with a question, but not know the correct terminology to use.
The employee's ability to ask probing questions and decipher the customer's question is necessary for accurate resolution.
SKILL DEMONSTRATION
Strong communication skills are demonstrated via written and oral mediums. Written mediums include memos, e-mails, and business documentation. Oral mediums include telephone calls, meetings, and listening. The following paragraphs illustrate both mediums.
Strong written communication provides a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. The written document should be able to stand alone from its writer to convey ideas and opinions. The tone should complement the subject material to highlight important areas or appropriately discuss sensitive topics. For example, a memo regarding changes in attendance policy should highlight to employees the importance of understanding the material, showing compliance with company policy.
Keen oral communication is highlighted by use of pace, tone, and word choice. Pace refers not only just to speed of discussion, but also to pauses that allow the participants to digest the message. Tone is important to convey the mood of the message. Messages that initiate change may include a tone of curiosity while messages that include consequences should have a serious tone. The choice of words is important depending on the audience. Within a group of peers jargon or acronym.

Generation Gaps: Changes in the Workplace due to
Differing Generational Values

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to discuss the
generational gaps that are found in the workplace
today. With multiple generations working together,
and the oldest generation having to work longer and
retire later, generational changes are occurring in the
workplace and for management. There is a lack of
communication and understanding between the
different generations caused through differing values
and goals. Younger generations are also entering
different fields than those that were popular for older
generations. There is a serious new problem in the
workplace, and it has nothing to do with downsizing,
global competition, pointy-haired bosses, stress or
greed. Instead, it is the problem of distinct
generations — the Veterans, the Baby Boomers, Gen
X and Gen Y — working together and often colliding
as their paths cross.
Individuals with different values, different ideas,
different ways of getting things done and different
ways of communicating in the workplace have always
existed. So, why is this becoming a problem now? At
work, generation differences can affect everything
including recruiting, building teams, dealing with
change, motivating, managing, and maintaining and
increasing productivity All of these ideas are
explored, discussed, and evaluated, through looking
at current research on the topic and case studies that
have been conducted not only in the United States but
around the world.
Keywords: Generation gap, workplace, values.
Introduction
Throughout the years, as the population has continued to
both grow and age, it has caused generational changes to
take place in the various aspects of life. With the changes in
the demographics of the world’s population, there have also
been changes in how each group thinks and what they
value. This not only affects the way people behave in their
personal lives, but it also affects the workplace. As
generational changes occur in the workplace, a lack of
communication has caused adisconnect to occur between
the values and goals present among the different age groups
along with newer generations choosing different career
paths.
* Author for Correspondence
In order to understand where these differences stem from,
you need to analyze how each generation is different when
it comes to their beliefs and values. So, it is best to identify
the different groups present in workplace which range from
those born in 1922 to those born in the early 1990’s.
Moving chronologically, the fi.

Advocating for Early Childhood Education
· What is advocacy?

Within a group of peers jargon or acronym.

together the writing contained in all these papers combined would be quite
significant project! You will find that in some modules, the research papers
mimic our readings with respect to subject matter and some modules, the
research papers do not mimic the reading. Again, the goal of these research
papers is to stretch the depth and breadth of your knowledge. You should feel
well prepared to teach a course in TOCs after completing this course. The
research papers and PowerPoints you create could serve as the basis for such
class. Additionally, you will find that this course and the course CJUS701

Generation Gaps: Changes in the Workplace due to
Differing Generational Values

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to discuss the
generational gaps that are found in the workplace
today. With multiple generations working together,
and the oldest generation having to work longer and
retire later, generational changes are occurring in the
workplace and for management. There is a lack of
communication and understanding between the
different generations caused through differing values
and goals. Younger generations are also entering
different fields than those that were popular for older
generations. There is a serious new problem in the
workplace, and it has nothing to do with downsizing,
global competition, pointy-haired bosses, stress or
greed. Instead, it is the problem of distinct
generations — the Veterans, the Baby Boomers, Gen
X and Gen Y — working together and often colliding
as their paths cross.
Individuals with different values, different ideas,
different ways of getting things done and different
ways of communicating in the workplace have always
existed. So, why is this becoming a problem now? At
work, generation differences can affect everything
including recruiting, building teams, dealing with
change, motivating, managing, and maintaining and
increasing productivity All of these ideas are
explored, discussed, and evaluated, through looking
at current research on the topic and case studies that
have been conducted not only in the United States but
around the world.
Keywords: Generation gap, workplace, values.
Introduction
Throughout the years, as the population has continued to
both grow and age, it has caused generational changes to
take place in the various aspects of life. With the changes in
the demographics of the world’s population, there have also
been changes in how each group thinks and what they
value. This not only affects the way people behave in their
personal lives, but it also affects the workplace. As
generational changes occur in the workplace, a lack of
communication has caused adisconnect to occur between
the values and goals present among the different age groups
along with newer generations choosing different career
paths.
* Author for Correspondence
In order to understand where these differences stem from,
you need to analyze how each generation is different when
it comes to their beliefs and values. So, it is best to identify
the different groups present in workplace which range from
those born in 1922 to those born in the early 1990’s.

· Then tell me why this is interesting to you – make connections to your life or to currents issues in our world.
· Finally, give a full citation and tell me why you think this is a reliable, trustworthy source. Use this libguide to help you come up with reasons why your source is trustworthy.
· At least one of your sources should be from a peer-reviewed, science journal article.
Here is an example:
Fact 1: Taxol is a chemotherapy agent derived from the bark of the Pacific Yew Tree. The chemical itself is derived from a fungal endophtye within the bark. I thought this was very interesting, because the Pacific Yew tree is native to the state of Washington, and my aunt Jane received Taxol while undergoing chemotherapy for ovarian cancer. I also thought it was interesting because of the mutualistic relationship between the plant and the fungus.Citation: Plant natural products from cultured multipotent cells
Roberts, Susan; Kolewe, Martin. Nature Biotechnology28.11 (Nov 2010): 1175-6.
This is a reliable source because it is published in a peer-reviewed science journal article, written by two PhDs that are providing a review of the current literature on the topic
To complete the assignment, you should first choose a plant, gather articles discussing your plant, read the articles sufficiently enough to discuss the plant, and finally write the annotated bibliography. You are expected to produce original work, and any plagiarism will receive a zero. The paper should be double-spaced, and typed in 12 point font size, with normal margins. The instructions for how to properly cite your sources are at the end of this handout.
*** Reminder: The scientific name of a plant should always be typed in italics, with the first letter of the Genus capitalized. For ex.: Digitalis lanata. When you search for information on your plant online, make sure to use the scientific name, which will bring back a wider variety of results
The bibliography is worth 50 points and will be graded on:
1. Effort
• Quality of references
•Depth/breadth/quality of material covered
2. Following directions/ requirements
I will use the following rubric to grade your bibliography:
Research, Critical Reading and Documentation
Balanced, authoritative sources; correctly cited sources; effectively integrated outside sources. Most sources from science journals

is congested, one of the other routes is preferable. Over the past two months, Dorothy has tried each of
route several times under different traffic conditions. This information is summarized in minutes of

Adlerian-Based Positive Group Counseling Interventions w ith.docxSALU18
This summarizes an Adlerian-based positive group counseling program for emotionally troubled youth that integrated positive psychology interventions. The 12-week program used interventions from positive psychotherapy curriculum to increase positive emotion, engagement, and meaning by emphasizing strengths. Sessions focused on identifying signature strengths, cultivating strengths through goals, developing gratitude, processing good and bad memories, and expressing forgiveness as a way to increase social interest. The positive interventions aligned well with Adlerian principles of emphasizing strengths, social interest, and encouragement to help youth overcome problems.
After completing the assessment, my Signature Theme Report produ.docxSALU18
After completing the assessment, my Signature Theme Report produced the following results: Communication, Relator, Individualization, Consistency, and Strategic. When I first saw the themes presented, I was a little skeptical at first but after reading the detailed descriptions I felt like it made a lot of sense and mirrored a lot of what I had already thought about myself.
A core value that I would like to continue to strengthen would be the value of acceptance. One of my top five themes was relator which explained that I have a comfortability with gravitating towards people I already know and building relationships from there. I don’t have issues with making new relationships, but I can see that sometimes I close myself off initially to embracing new ones. With acceptance, you have to understand that there are some situations you can control and some that you can’t but embracing the latter can lead to new experiences that could be beneficial (Riley, 2021). Another core value that I would like to improve upon would be calmness. This fits in well with my theme of consistency. While I am a firm believer of things being fair and consistent, I can get easily upset when things don’t balance out like they are expected to. I know that working on being calm in tense situations will help me adapt easier when things don’t always work out as they should.
One of the strengths that I would like to embrace fully and continue to improve upon is communication. It was no surprise to me that communication was at the top of my list for my themes. When I am in a position of leadership at work, I make it a priority to keep my staff updated on everything that is going on for that night and it is something I expect from my charge nurse when I am working the floor also. A communicator is only effective when they are aware of their style of communicating and how others perceive or respond to it (Marshall & Broome, 2021). As a communicator I know that I can always work on how I communicate non-verbally and with body language especially. The other strength that I would like to continue to work on is of being strategic. The report explained that the strategic theme fit me because I am able to sort through the clutter and find the best route when I am trying to accomplish something. I really believe this about myself because when I have a task I need to accomplish, whether I am in a leader position or not, I will break everything down and reorganize it to make sure I have come up with the best solution. I feel like the best way to do something is the way that makes it concise and without a lot of excess getting in the way.
A characteristic of mine that I would like to strengthen would be that of instinct. My theme of individualization points out that I have an instinct about others and how they work and function. I have always felt that I easily read people and can get a sense of who they truly are and for example in the workplace how they are as a staff member. S.

Advanced persistent threats (APTs) have been thrust into the spotlig.docxSALU18
Advanced persistent threats (APTs) have been thrust into the spotlight due to their advanced tactics, techniques, procedures, and tools. These APTs are resourced unlike other types of cyber threat actors.
Your chief technology officer (CTO) has formed teams to each develop a detailed analysis and presentation of a specific APT, which she will assign to the team.
.
Your report should use
The Cybersecurity Threat Landscape Team Assignment Resources
to cover the following five areas:
Part 1: Threat Landscape Analysis
Provide a detailed analysis of the threat landscape today.
What has changed in the past few years?
Describe common tactics, techniques, and procedures to include threat actor types.
What are the exploit vectors and vulnerabilities threat actors are predicted to take advantage of?
Part 2: APT Analysis
Provide detailed analysis and description of the APT your group was assigned. Describe the specific tactics used to gain access to the target(s).
Describe the tools used. Describe what the objective of the APT was/is. Was it successful?
Part 3: Cybersecurity Tools, Tactics, and Procedures
Describe current hardware- and software-based cybersecurity tools, tactics, and procedures.
Consider the hardware and software solutions deployed today in the context of defense-in-depth.
Elaborate on why these devices are not successful against the APTs.
Part 4: Machine Learning and Data Analytics
Describe the concepts of machine learning and data analytics and how applying them to cybersecurity will evolve the field.
Are there companies providing innovative defensive cybersecurity measures based on these technologies? If so, what are they? Would you recommend any of these to the CTO?
Part 5: Using Machine Learning and Data Analytics to Prevent APT
Describe how machine learning and data analytics could have detected and/or prevented the APT you analyzed had the victim organization deployed these technologies at the time of the event. Be specific.
Part 6: Ethics in Cybersecurity.
Ethical issues are at the core of what we do as cybersecurity professionals. Think of the example of a cyber defender working in a hospital. They are charged with securing the network, medical devices, and protecting sensitive personal health information from unauthorized disclosure. They are not only protecting patient privacy but their health and perhaps even their lives. Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability - the C-I-A triad - and many other cybersecurity practices are increasingly at play in protecting citizens in all walks of life and in all sectors. Thus, acting in an ethical manner is one of the hallmarks of cybersecurity professionals.
Do you think the vulnerability(ies) exploited by the APT constitutes an ethical failure by the defender? Why or why not?
For the APT scenario your group studied, were there identifiable harms to privacy or property? How are these harms linked to C-I-A? If not, what ethically si.

Adultism refers to the oppression of young people by adults. The pop.docxSALU18
Adultism refers to the oppression of young people by adults. The popular saying "children should be seen and not heard" is used as a way to remind a child of his or her place and reaffirm the adult's power in the relationship. The saying suggests that children's voices are not as important or as valid as an adult's and they should remain quiet. Children are often relegated to subordinate positions due to socially constructed beliefs about what they can or cannot accomplish or what they should or should not do; this in turn compromises youth's self-determination. This oppression is further highlighted when considering the intersection of age with race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and sexual orientation. You will be asked to consider all of these when reviewing the Logan case and Parker case.

How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.

Professional Communications
The impact and importance of effective communication in an
organization is one that cannot go unmentioned. This
presentation seeks to discuss cross-cultural communication
and some of the communication problems in companies.
Thesis
Communication has always being vital to the progress of any
firm, therefore, communication problems need to be addressed
as soon as they come up in order to ensure company progress.
Communication is important to any organization
Effective communication helps firms to achieve their goals

Business managers have the responsibility of identifying
communication needs, and strategizing on how to improve the
communication between all relevant stakeholders
Introduction
2. Effective communication is important for the success of any
business. According to statistical reports from Forbes, the
corporate with the best communication tools achieve their
objectives easily as compared to businesses with poor
communication. Consequently, the aim of this presentation is to
help business managers to understand the usage of effective
communication tools to improve communication to all the
stakeholders in the organizations. Although the basic
responsibility of a business manager is to motivate the
employees to give out their potential, this cannot be achieved
without effective communication. It is therefore the
responsibility of a business manager to identify the
communication needs and provide effective strategies aimed at
improving communication between the stakeholders. Therefore,
business managers should understand that communication is
significant since it helps in delegation of the basic management
functions.

Communication problems in firms
Communication Problems in My Company
There are several communication problems that have been
identified in my company. Failure of delegation of duties is one
of the main communication barriers for any business. Every
employee expects the management to provide sufficient
information for the kind of business that they are supposed to
work. Lack of a common code of conduct also prevents the
organization from having a common language that can be used
to delegate duties to the employees. When a duty has been
delegated by the top management, it is difficult for the company
to develop a channel in which the message can be delivered.
Effective communication enhances business performance and
productivity. The company does not have an effective channel
of communication that can be used to address imminent
problems that have arisen in the company. Moreover, the
company lacks adequate information technology systems that
can be used to send urgent messages (Gopal, 2009).
4. Cross cultural communications
There are many strategies and ways that can be used to
improve cross cultural communication among two different
people. The new norm of cross-cultural communication has been
enhanced through the usage of modern technology and
particularly the internet. Today communication has been made
electronic. This is due to the emergence of modern trends of
communication such as the usage of social platforms such as the
Facebook and twitter. Developers of information technology
have also introduced platforms of communicating to different
people at the same period of time such as the video
conferencing that promotes communication across people of
different cultures. Electronic media is essential for cross-
cultural communication. This is because people can
communicate despite their geographical boundaries (Lussier,
2012).
Understanding of cultural diversity is also another way of
promoting cross-cultural communication. Every workplace
consists of people from different cultural backgrounds. It is thus
essential to increase tolerance of different people despite their
language backgrounds. Awareness should also be developed
from people of different cultures. This means providing respect
of people from one culture to the other. This increases cultural
awareness for people of different cultures thus improving
acceptance of cultures. Cultural tolerance should be demanded
so as to increase cohesiveness and cultural integration in the
workplace (Smith, 2002).
3
The commonly used non verbal cues include; posture, gestures,
facial expressions, eye contact and appearance
Physical appearance is a nonverbal cue used to judge the
confidence of a person.
5. Eye contact improves engagement in people and tunes them into
their communication with each other
Facial expressions often portray emotions
Managers need to understand the power of non verbal cues
Managers also need to align non verbal cues with verbal
communication in order to be effective
Universal non verbal cues should be used to promote
understanding by people of all cultures
Use of non-verbal communication
Using nonverbal communication effectively
Non-verbal cues speak louder than even a manager speaks
in a business. Some of the commonly used nonverbal
communication includes; eye contact, posture, gestures, facial
expressions and appearance. In business setting, physical
appearance is one of the nonverbal cues that are used to judge
the confidence of a person. The first appearance of an
individual often sets the tonality of the interaction between
people. Moreover, eye contact is another nonverbal cue that is
used in communication with a person. It improves engagement
in people and tunes them into their communication with each
other. Facial expressions are also used to show emotions such as
when a manager is delegating an important duty to the
employees. Emotions can be used to show stress over a
particular matter or concern. It is important for business
managers to understand that all forms of nonverbal
6. communication work together with verbal communication. For
this reason, the business managers should ensure that the two
forms of communication work together. People from different
cultural backgrounds take different forms of communication in
different ways. With this in mind, the business managers should
employ nonverbal techniques that are universal to all people
(Guffey & Loewy, 2010).
4
Are hard to convey
Use of indirect form of communication (Ober, 2008).
An example: Non approval of a request for promotion
Indirect way of communication is easier and more appropriate
for communicating bad news (Ober, 2008).
Bad news
Bad news are usually hard to convey to anyone as they create a
bad feeling to the person being told and even to the person who
is conveying them. In order to communicate such bad news
effectively, it is good to use the indirect form of
communication. Use of the indirect way of communicating helps
to prepare the respondent for the bad news without telling them
instantly as it may lead to an extremely bad reaction (Ober,
2008). For example, conveying a message that an employee’s
request for promotion has been declined or has not been
approved may be hard. Therefore, the conveyer of the message
may use the indirect way to communicate this as it is easier and
more appropriate for communicating bad news (Ober, 2008).
5
An explanation should be given
7. Explanation may lead to better understanding
Should be conveyed in a positive way
Positive conveyance may create a better feeling (Guffey&
Loewy, 2012).
Bad news
This should be followed with an explanation of how the
management came up with the decision as it can help the
employee to understand the message better and not overreact.
This news should also be conveyed in a positive way so that the
respondent thinks that they will gain from the decision and to
also avoid making them feel terribly bad about the news
(Guffey& Loewy, 2012).
6
The most appropriate way of communicating them direct form
of communication
The rationale for this is to ensure precision and clarity.
Explanations are necessary
Easier to communicate
Relationships may be strengthened through these messages.
An example is; when informing employees of a pay rise or a
bonus program (Lehman & DuFrene, 2011).
Good News
8. Good news
The most appropriate way of communicating good messages is
through the direct form of communication. The rationale for
this is to ensure that the message is conveyed clearly and
precisely. To ensure that the message is passé clearly,
explanations may be given. It is easier to communicate these
messages and therefore the conveyer is often more relaxed
compared to when conveying bas messages. Relationships are
often strengthened through these messages. An example is;
when informing employees of a pay rise or a bonus program
(Lehman & DuFrene, 2011).
7
Are often short and precise.
Conveyer passes the message directly
Few Words are used
May be conveyed through emails
Require polite language
An example of this is a message informing the supplier to
deliver some products (Guffey& Loewy, 2012).
Routine-request messages
Routine-request messages
These messages are often short and precise. The conveyer
passes the message directly to the reader without using a lot of
words for communication. These messages may be conveyed
through emails and are conveyed politely. An example of this is
a message informing the supplier to deliver some products
9. (Guffey& Loewy, 2012).
8
Communication has always being vital to the progress of any
firm, therefore, communication problems need to be addressed
as soon as they come up in order to ensure company progress.
Without communication, all the functional areas of a firm can
be ineffective
Essential communication tools need to be adopted by managers
in order to boost understanding by people of diverse cultures
and to increase general motivation in the workplace. To achieve
this, problems in communication must be identified and
strategies to deal with them structured.
Verbal and non verbal cues should also be used wisely by
managers to promote effective communication if the firm.
In order to know whether communication is effective in your
firm, ask yourself this simple question; How long does it take
for you to know of a scheduled meeting?
Conclusion
Conclusion
In summation, effective communication is essential in business
because it helps in performance of basic responsibilities.
Basically, communication is the foundation of all management
functions. Managers should adopt essential communication tools
so as to provide information to members of their specific
organizations and increase general motivation in the workplace.
This can be achieved through identification of the
communication problems and providing eminent solutions to
10. solve the identified problems. Moreover, managers should also
adopt effective use of verbal and non-verbal means so as to
increase communication with the stakeholders. This would help
to improve performance and productivity of the business.

14. Communication problems in firms
Communication Problems in My Company
There are several communication problems that have been
identified in my company. Failure of delegation of duties is one
of the main communication barriers for any business. Every
employee expects the management to provide sufficient
information for the kind of business that they are supposed to
work. Lack of a common code of conduct also prevents the
organization from having a common language that can be used
to delegate duties to the employees. When a duty has been
delegated by the top management, it is difficult for the company
to develop a channel in which the message can be delivered.
Effective communication enhances business performance and
productivity. The company does not have an effective channel
of communication that can be used to address imminent
problems that have arisen in the company. Moreover, the
company lacks adequate information technology systems that
can be used to send urgent messages (Gopal, 2009).
Cross cultural communications
There are many strategies and ways that can be used to
improve cross cultural communication among two different
people. The new norm of cross-cultural communication has been
15. enhanced through the usage of modern technology and
particularly the internet. Today communication has been made
electronic. This is due to the emergence of modern trends of
communication such as the usage of social platforms such as the
Facebook and twitter. Developers of information technology
have also introduced platforms of communicating to different
people at the same period of time such as the video
conferencing that promotes communication across people of
different cultures. Electronic media is essential for cross-
cultural communication. This is because people can
communicate despite their geographical boundaries (Lussier,
2012).
Understanding of cultural diversity is also another way of
promoting cross-cultural communication. Every workplace
consists of people from different cultural backgrounds. It is thus
essential to increase tolerance of different people despite their
language backgrounds. Awareness should also be developed
from people of different cultures. This means providing respect
of people from one culture to the other. This increases cultural
awareness for people of different cultures thus improving
acceptance of cultures. Cultural tolerance should be demanded
so as to increase cohesiveness and cultural integration in the
workplace (Smith, 2002).

The commonly used non verbal cues include; posture, gestures,
facial expressions, eye contact and appearance
Physical appearance is a nonverbal cue used to judge the
confidence of a person.
Eye contact improves engagement in people and tunes them into
their communication with each other
Facial expressions often portray emotions
Managers need to understand the power of non verbal cues
Managers also need to align non verbal cues with verbal
communication in order to be effective
16. Universal non verbal cues should be used to promote
understanding by people of all cultures
Use of non-verbal communication
Using nonverbal communication effectively
Non-verbal cues speak louder than even a manager speaks
in a business. Some of the commonly used nonverbal
communication includes; eye contact, posture, gestures, facial
expressions and appearance. In business setting, physical
appearance is one of the nonverbal cues that are used to judge
the confidence of a person. The first appearance of an
individual often sets the tonality of the interaction between
people. Moreover, eye contact is another nonverbal cue that is
used in communication with a person. It improves engagement
in people and tunes them into their communication with each
other. Facial expressions are also used to show emotions such as
when a manager is delegating an important duty to the
employees. Emotions can be used to show stress over a
particular matter or concern. It is important for business
managers to understand that all forms of nonverbal
communication work together with verbal communication. For
this reason, the business managers should ensure that the two
forms of communication work together. People from different
cultural backgrounds take different forms of communication in
different ways. With this in mind, the business managers should
employ nonverbal techniques that are universal to all people
17. (Guffey & Loewy, 2010).

This can be achieved through identification of the
communication problems and providing eminent solutions to
solve the identified problems. Moreover, managers should also
18. adopt effective use of verbal and non-verbal means so as to
increase communication with the stakeholders. This would help
to improve performance and productivity of the business.

Business Communications
Introduction
Effective communication is important for the success of any
business. According to statistical reports from Forbes, the
corporate with the best communication tools achieve their
objectives easily as compared to businesses with poor
communication. Consequently, the aim of this presentation is to
help business managers to understand the usage of effective
communication tools to improve communication to all the
stakeholders in the organizations. Although the basic
responsibility of a business manager is to motivate the
employees to give out their potential, this cannot be achieved
without effective communication. It is therefore the
20. responsibility of a business manager to identify the
communication needs and provide effective strategies aimed at
improving communication between the stakeholders. Therefore,
business managers should understand that communication is
significant since it helps in delegation of the basic management
functions.
