Reduction in Travel Time of Ambulances using Simulation and SchedulingIRJET Journal
This document discusses a study that aimed to reduce travel times for ambulances in Bangalore, India through traffic simulation and signal scheduling. It begins by describing India's growing population and economy but lack of emergency response meeting global standards. The study's objective was to design a model to give ambulances priority at traffic lights along a 6.6 km route between two hospitals that currently takes 14 minutes. Data was collected on traffic light wait times at signals along the route. Calculations were performed to determine when lights should turn green based on the ambulance's speed to minimize wait times. Simulation software was then used to test this scheduling, showing significant reduction in ambulance travel time. The study concludes simulation can accurately model traffic but real-world implementation faces
