2. Nowadays, watching movie has becoming a way to release
stress in the life. Different people watch different types such as
comedy, action, horror, Science fiction or drama movie to get
the pressure out of their sprite. For me, I would like to watch
horror movie and my favourite movie are Cabin Fever: Patient
Zero and The Crazies. They have a similarity which is a horror
virus movie and I would like to use these two movies for my
compare and contrast essay. Cabin Fever: Patient Zero is a 2014
American horror film directed by Kaare Andrews and The
Crazies is a 2010 American horror film directed by Breck Eisner.
Firstly, I would like to introduce a little bit about the plot of
these two movies to give you a basis idea of what was
happening in the movies. The Cabin Fever: Patient Zero is
talking about a group of friends think they’re going to the
perfect spot for a bachelor party which is at a secluded private
island. They quickly learn the island is not as private as they
thought. The island is home of lab thought to be empty, but in
actuality a deadly, extremely fast acting; flesh eating virus has
just escaped containment. Now everyone on the island has to
fight not only to survive the outbreak, but also to survive each
other. Where, The Crazies is about the inhabitant of small Iowa
town suddenly plagued by insanity and then death after a
mysterious toxin contaminates their water supply.
Next, I would like to compare the virus in these two movies
which as the first component to bring up all the storyline. In the
The Crazies, the Trixie virus was set in the water supply of the
sleepy Lowa town of Ogden Marsh. The town people who drink
the water will gradually transforms the mental state of the
infected into that of cold, calculating, depraved, bloodthirsty
killers and prey on their family and neighbours alike after an

3. incubation period of 48 hours. The virus for Cabin Fever: Zero
Patient is starting with gross blisters, followed by some heavy
blood vomiting and finally the victims’ skin falling off. Several
of the infected in this entry act like zombies, which is something
new and all the virus is spreading from the zero patient whom
the virus carries.
Moreover, the geography location in these two movies was
totally different which is the virus in The Crazies was separate
in a town and the virus in Cabin Fever: Patient Zero is separate
around the small island. This had reflected the amount of the
death victims. Thus, there is more victims’ death in the The
crazies if compare to the Cabin Fever: Patient Zero. In the The
Crazies, the most victims’ death is not because of the virus but
is shooting by the army and the bomb which destroy the town.
The country uses this crazy and cruel method to solve this
problem because the virus is out of control. For the Cabin Fever:
Patient Zero, the victims’ death because of the Porter (Patient
Zero) forces a lockdown of the station in the lab and spreads the
virus outside of the lab by infecting a mouse. Therefore the
mouse brings the virus and affects the marine organism around
the island. Besides, Porter (patient zero) also wanted to kills all
the scientists who trying to create vaccine from his body and
who know this secret.
Lastly, the ending for these two films are also different
although they are in same categories of movie. For the ending
of The Crazies, there is a little bit romantic because the main
character-David and his wife-Judy successfully escape from the
city which the government have decided to kill all the people in
that city by putting bomb because they most people have already
drink the water containing toxin. On the other hand, the ending

4. of the Cabin Fever: Patient Zero, Josh and Zamila (laboratory’s
assistant) burn the lab before they run out from the island. The
two surviving friends leave the island with Porter (patient zero).
Porter had tricking them into drinking contaminated water and
destroying the motor, Porter is the only person to leave the
island in the end. I feel this is a bad ending because the patient
zero which is porter does not die and the innocent person is
dying and waiting for die. This storyline is more sadly if
compare with the crazies which is the couple escape from the
bomb area. Therefore, I prefer the ending as seen in The Crazies.
In conclusion, if these two movies can combine together to
form a horror virus movie which make me concentrate from the
beginning to the end, then I would love it so much. Besides, I
also learn moral value in these two movies such as unity is
strength. And for Cabin Fever, this is a movie made by people
who have studied some of the most horrific injuries known to
man. Their hours spent parsing through the very worst alone
deserves commendation, never mind the work in the film.
