Santiago Sánchez
[English] The Lima Smart Villages Workshop aimed to facilitate the analysis and exchange between the public and private sectors and civil society, from first-hand experiences in the field of energy in rural off-grid communities. Topics for discussion include rural electrification; energy generation and distribution; the inclusion of renewable energy sources (RES) in the energy matrix; productive use of energy in rural communities; clean cooking technologies; efficient heating; and rural energy entrepreneurship. The discussions are aimed at outlining new prospects for reducing rural poverty in South American countries through the access and use of sustainable energy sources.

COP25 - Technologies for the Empowerment of Energy ConsumersAPPA Renovables
We are facing an important challenge: reduce drastically our GHG emissions. Renewables will play an important role. More than 58% of our emissions' reductions depend on renewables. In this presentation we explain the role of renewables and present two important european projects to boost renewables: iDistributedPV and Biomasstep.
The Association of Companies of Renewable Energies (APPA Renovables) groups companies and entities whose purpose is the use of renewable energy sources in all its forms. Established in 1987, APPA is the leading association of the renewable energy sector in Spain.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Kubernetes & AI - Beauty and the Beast !?! @KCD Istanbul 2024Tobias Schneck
As AI technology is pushing into IT I was wondering myself, as an “infrastructure container kubernetes guy”, how get this fancy AI technology get managed from an infrastructure operational view? Is it possible to apply our lovely cloud native principals as well? What benefit’s both technologies could bring to each other?
Let me take this questions and provide you a short journey through existing deployment models and use cases for AI software. On practical examples, we discuss what cloud/on-premise strategy we may need for applying it to our own infrastructure to get it to work from an enterprise perspective. I want to give an overview about infrastructure requirements and technologies, what could be beneficial or limiting your AI use cases in an enterprise environment. An interactive Demo will give you some insides, what approaches I got already working for real.
Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

2. “ Best practices in the energy sector” May 2009 Ildefonso Serrano García General Director of Enercoop
3. The Electric Co-operative ENERCOOP bases its efficiency in a clear and decisive bet to enhance renewable energies
4. The ENERCOOP Group was born as a Co-operative in 1925. At present it has a consumer base of over 14.0000 consumers.
5. It has been many years since a group of businessmen from Crevillente joined to start up the Electric Co-operative “San Francisco de Asís” in order to supply citizens and its textile industry with electricity at competitive prices. Since then, Enercoop has expanded energy market to have a broad presence in several Spanish and Portuguese subsidiaries.
6. The Co-operative has presence in the Hydroelectric Power Station of Calasparra, in the Murcia’s region . The Co-operative participates in two Hydroelectric Power Stations in Portugal. Nowadays, the Co-operatives is involved in the building of two new power stations. This means that it will produce a total of eight megawatts of power.
7. Betting for minimizing the losses occurring in transport and distribution of electricity. The Co-operative contributes to preserve the environment across savings and better use of energy’s conduct .
8. In 1993 the Co-operative had a electricity loss of 11,36%. Nowadays, the Co-operative has a electricity loss of 4,25% approximately. It means that nearly 100 millions kilowatt hours purchased are actually delivered about 95,6 millions. Heavy investment in equipment and most efficient technology.
9.
10.
11. Building one of the largest photovoltaic solar orchards in Europe, with Spanish funds. It is “ The Realengo” solar orchard . This facility has 13.233 kilowatts of power. This has been generated by 59.000 photovoltaic panels.
13. The electricity produced is 20.511.000 million of kilowatt hours annually, which discharges directly to the network of our Co-operative and transported to Crevillente’s citizens.
14. This facility has turned Crevillente in a city of Spain that consumes more clean energy. Around 60 % of Crevillente’s population consumes clean electricity from photovoltaic system that does not pollute.
15. This photovoltaic complex prevents the emission of over 18.000 tons of CO2 annually, almost 500 tons of sulphur oxides and nitrogen. Throughout our life, we have calculated that we have avoided the emission of 700.000 tons of CO2.
16. Our policy has enabled to produce revenues around 12 million Euros each year . At present, we have a net wealth exceeding 17 million Euros.
17. Actions to guarante energy supply and quality to consumers: Specific technology has been incorporated in the facilities of the Electric Co-operative in order to minimize the rate of supply’s interruption. A 24 hours consumer service system has been implemented .
18. The Electric Co-operative has a turnover between 13% and 15% cheaper electricity for its domestic and industrial customers, if it is compared with tariffs of the largest electricity companies in Spain.
19. Protecting consumers’ interest. The Co-operative uses a real reading system that reflexes real consumption of user. Despite the reading system, this involves higher costs for our company.
20. The Co-operative has assumed the electric cost’s increase which had been set by the Spanish Government in early January. We have kept the electric tariffs’ cost with the same prices that were applied in 2008.
21. The Electric Co-operative has funded many projects that seek to protect and benefit social groups. Thanks to Social Work, it has been able to build projects such as the Museum of Painting “Julio Quesada”, the Easter Museum, a old people’s home of Crevillente, a morgue or Health Center for mentally handicapped.
22. Enercoop Group spent 738.000 Euros in 2008 to support several social initiatives such as educational scholarships for students or activities carried out by Red Cross.
23. Funding other cultural activities such as the International Award of Painting “ Julio Quesada” or National Photography Competition ‘La energía mueve el mundo’, among others.
24. Electric Co-operative “San Francisco de Asís” considers that best practices within energy market must necessarily be linked to improve society, to preserve consumers’ interests and to preserve environment promoting of renewable energies.
