Koalas are endangered animals that are typically 2 feet tall with soft, wool-like gray and white fur. Their population has declined to fewer than 100,000 individuals. Koalas mainly consume eucalyptus leaves and can live up to 15 years. They prefer living in eucalyptus forests, coastal islands, and low woodlands. Koalas are endangered because of habitat loss from expanding urban areas and agriculture, as well as threats from diseases, wildfires, and vehicles.
