The EMSS (Essential Minimum Safety Standard) scheme is designed to standardize safety training within the process industries, ensuring that workers have undergone a minimum standard of health and safety training. Supported by various industry leaders and organizations, the EMSS safety passport allows for online authentication of personnel competency, simplifying the verification process. The initiative aims to improve current safety schemes and raise overall industry standards for health and safety training.

Future Proofing…
Now that the scheme has been adopted by the majority of sites, we plan to work closely
with all major client and contractor groups (UK wide). Using the resources of NESHEP
and the EMSS Social Enterprise to raise the bar on health & safety to ensure that
existing schemes are improved and meet the standards required by the industry.
It has been pointed out by many of you that some of the existing schemes fall short of
industry requirements.
To harness the input from industry and ensure the continued development of the
EMSS Scheme a web forum has been set up to ensure the industry gets what it needs.
