Twende Solar has designed a 26kW Solar PV System to revolutionize the academic capacity of the Stephen Mazujian Middle School, located in a rural village outside of Siem Reap, Cambodia. The proposed system will support the school’s increasing energy needs, and ultimately replace its expensive and unreliable diesel generator with a stable source of electricity. Most notably the proposed system will power a brand new computer lab, in turn connecting students to a wealth of new ideas and inspiring them to pursue opportunities beyond the over-saturated labor sector.

Rather than burning its budget with a diesel generator, an investment in solar will provide reliable energy for
years to come. Given the school’s increased energy needs and price of diesel, Global ADE can expect to see
a return on its investment instantly with solar.

If the middle school were to continue utilizing expensive, inefficient
generators, the annual expense would be more than double its current
3-year budget for energy.
To power a full academic year with the energy loads provided, the school
will need to produce or purchase 23,129 kWh worth of electricity—over
$9,000 annually in diesel fuel costs.
To power the computer lab for one school year using diesel fuel it would
cost (at a minimum) $3,725—over half of the school's current 3-year
energy budget.
