A 20-year-old Mexican boy studying information technology as a technician needs guidance on defining his career goals and finding job opportunities after graduating in one year. He enjoys programming but has not determined where he wants to work, only that he does not want to work in a factory like his parents. He feels stressed about job interviews and thinks internships can help prepare for jobs, but he has not actively searched for career-related jobs or defined his career vision. Design thinking coaching could help the student clarify his goals and plans for after graduation.
This is the empathy map & problem statement clearly explaining the challenges faced by the subject in his school to work transition. Technique used is Facebook interview. Presentation contains graphical description of what the subject says, thinks and feels that indicate towards the problem statement.

I want to earn money
I don’t want to work on the maquiladoras

and that is why they are helping me to

He want to be better than his parents (economi-
cally speaking)
He feels he learns a lot if doing an internship
I feel stressed when thinking about job inter-
views
He feels shy being interviewed
He has not thought very much on what to do when he gradu-
ates
He thinks that in order to get a job he needs to work hard
He thinks that it is easier to get a job if working while studying
He thinks it is not easy to get a job however
internships are excelent to learn new things and learn about

He has clear on what he does not want
to do
