Emily Percak is a graduate student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo pursuing a Masters in Education and credential in Special Education. She has experience as a student teacher in middle school English and special education math and science. Her research focuses on using video self-modeling to improve social initiations for a student with autism. The Effects of Video Self Modeling on Verbal Social Initiations for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder
Single case design research study conducted in a public school during the 2015-2016 school year.
Specific research methodology included video self-modeling. The video self-modeling intervention was
developed from research and evidence-based practices, and is intended to meet a targeted need of social
initiations in a 12 year-old 7th grade girl with autism. Findings from this research project will be
presented at local research conferences and shared with the local community (i.e., families, teachers,
district leaders)
