Student Teaching
PDS, or Professional Development School, is a yearlong student teaching experience offered as an alternative to
traditional student teaching. The program is designed to provide a more authentic classroom experience through two
different grade levels.
Normal Unit 5, Prairieland Elementary School, 4th grade, Normal, IL August 2014-May 2015
 Independently instructed students in content areas of language arts, mathematics, social studies,
science, and writing
 Differentiated instruction by implementing math workshop to accommodate student needs
 Created a classroom blog to promote parent communication
 Developed lesson plans aligned to the Common Core State Standards
 Collaborated with other grade level teachers during planning periods and PLC meetings
 Participated in parent teacher conferences and curriculum night
 Utilized DOJO behavior management system
 Attended meetings for school improvement
 Adapted lessons and classroom environment for students with IEPs and 504 plans
 Utilized formative and summative assessments to guide instruction based on the needs of students
 Volunteered at the community Back2School alliance and reading nights
