I needed to consider a few things with my inquiries, or my questions could turn into accusations (CTU, 2013). Whether questioning transpires at the criminality, on a street, or in a prison, if an individual is deprived of the freedom of action in any substantial manner, their Miranda rights must be read to them, even if the police just want to question the suspect and use the suspect's answers as evidence at trial. However, no Miranda warning is necessary if a person is not in custody, and whatever the individual states may be brought into play if that individual is later charged with a criminality. This more frequently occurs when an officer detains somebody on the street in order to interrogate that individual concerning a criminality, or the individual divulges a declaration of guilt prior to the police having a chance to provide the Miranda warnings (NOLO, 2013).

I needed to consider a few things with my inquiries, or my questions could turn into accusations (CTU, 2013). Whether questioning transpires at the criminality, on a street, or in a prison, if an individual is deprived of the freedom of action in any substantial manner, their Miranda rights must be read to them, even if the police just want to question the suspect and use the suspect's answers as evidence at trial. However, no Miranda warning is necessary if a person is not in custody, and whatever the individual states may be brought into play if that individual is later charged with a criminality. This more frequently occurs when an officer detains somebody on the street in order to interrogate that individual concerning a criminality, or the individual divulges a declaration of guilt prior to the police having a chance to provide the Miranda warnings (NOLO, 2013).

Introduction:
We began the course discussing what John Berger calls “ways of seeing.” Sontag, Mitchell, and Clarke all appear to pick up from where Berger ends his essay and look at what Berger calls “the new language of images” (116). Berger’s prediction or assessment that there is this new “language of images” seems to have come true according to Sontag, Clarke, and Mitchell as they examine what it is, how it operates, and what problems and challenges this new language presents. Berger expresses interest in this new language of images as he says, “Within it we could begin to define our experiences more precisely in areas where words are inadequate. (Seeing comes before words.)” (116). He is concerned, however, with who will control this new language or these images identifying this with power saying, ”If the new language of images were used differently, it would through its use, confer a new kind of power” (116).
Sontag, Mitchell, and Clarke also see the creation and use of images as a form of power and ask questions about what form this power takes, who or what has or exercises this power, and over what or whom is this power practiced. Sontag goes so far as to suggest that photography, the principle medium through which most of us experience images, has taught us a new way of being in the world as it “changes the terms of confinement in the cave, our world” (3). She also argues “In teaching us a new visual code, photographs alter and enlarge our notions of what is worth looking at and what we have a right to observe” (3). Mitchell refers to images’ “potency” and describes “the ancient superstitions about images” which claims “they make people do irrational things, that they are potentially destructive forces that seduce and lead us astray” and says we still believe these things despite claiming that we don’t (19). Emily is an 18-month-old toddler developing typically. She attends a for-profit childcare center full-time. Emily’s parents are divorced and she lives half-time with each parent. She has two older brothers, ages 6 and 10. Emily’s father is a plumber and her mother is a cashier at a local grocery store. Emily has begun biting other children at the childcare center. You have just been assigned to act as the lead educator in her classroom. The assistant is concerned about Emily’s biting and so are some of the parents of the other children, as she has left bite marks on two children, though the skin was not broken. During your first day in the classroom, you observe the following:
Emily is playing alone with a doll. Janesta, who is 23 months old, walks over to Emily and takes the doll Emily was playing with. Emily then bites Janesta on the arm. You swiftly pick Emily up and tell her, “We don’t bite,” and hold her in your lap for a few minutes. Then she runs to play with blocks.
Later in the day, you witness Emily walk up to a boy in the class and bite him on the shoulder, without any apparent provocation. The assistant quickly picks Emily up and moves her to the reading area and reads her a book. Emily stays there for 10 minutes, quietly turning pages.
Part 1: ABC Analysis Chart
You will use the case scenario above to develop a hypothesis as to what is the likely function of the behavior. Be sure to use your Unit 6 readings on Functional Behavior Assessment to assist you in filling out the ABC chart template in DocSharing.
A=Antecedent. What happened immediately before the behavior? Was there any event or activity that preceded the behavior?
B=Behavior. The behavior should be defined in observable, objective terms.
C=Consequence. What happened immediately following the behavior?
Function of behavior = this is your hypothesis. Using what you have learned about behavior, what is the most likely function? Is the child trying to get something, and if so, what? This could be tangibles such as access to a toy, a preferred activity or even attention. Is the child trying to escape from something, and if so, what? This could be escape from an unwanted task such as cleaning up toys.
Part 2: Behavior Change Chart
For Part 2, using your hypothesis and the information from your ABC chart, fill out the template in DocSharing and manipulate variables to determine if your hypothesis is correct in order to pick the best course of action to take with Emily. You can only manipulate one variable at a time in order to determine what would be most effective in modifying Emily's behavior. First you will manipulate the antecedent. When you changed the antecedent (A), what do you predict will happen and why? If you do not get the desired behavior change (B), then you need to try manipulating another variable. In this case, you will then manipulate the consequence (C). What do you predict will happen with the behavior (B) and why?

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic Imperative
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.

NOTE: All submission posting times are based on midnight Central Time. You are a rookie investigator assigned to the Juvenile Sex Crimes Unit. Because you are new to the unit, the supervisor of the unit has assigned you to work with veteran investigator Jake Wilson to get your training in sex crimes unit investigations. During your tour of duty on your first day, you receive a call to proceed to 1255 Maple Street to meet a patrol officer who is on a juvenile sex assault call at the No Tell Motel. On arrival, you learn that the suspect was seen by law enforcement officers acting suspicious in the parking lot earlier in the day, and when he spotted officers, he quickly drove away from the motel parking lot. After a short chase, officers took the subject, Jose Torres, H/M 35 years of age, into custody. After taking the suspect into custody, he was asked by officers why he ran, and he opened up to officers and told them that he had been having sex with an underage 14-year-old girl, his girlfriend, in the motel room and had gotten scared when he saw the police. You also learn that officers did not read him his rights before asking him questions regarding the scene and recognize this might be a problem in the case. The crime scene had been entered already by several police officers who stopped by to visit the crime scene, and office management had also stopped by. The 14-year-old female was also at the crime scene, and your partner is interviewing her on the scene to find out what happened. Based on the above crime scene and information, answer the
- 2. questions listed below regarding the scene. Assignment Guidelines Address the following in 1,000–1,250 words: Evidence and Scene Processing Considering the evidence at the crime scene, make a list of this evidence, and also advise what equipment you will utilize to recover the evidence. Describe the process of protecting the crime scene and recovering the evidence, labeling it, transporting it, and exactly what type of analysis you would request to have performed with the evidence by the lab. After reading the scenario, is there a problem with scene contamination? What role will this evidence likely play in your case? Would a warrant be needed at the crime scene? Why or why not? Victim and Witness Statements, Suspect Interrogation What is the proper process for obtaining a statement from both the suspect and the victim in this incident? Will you be able to use the information provided to patrol officers by the suspect immediately after his arrest? If your partner interviewed the suspect at the scene and threatened him, would this be lawful? Why or why not? If your partner lied to the suspect to gain information from him, would this information be usable? What if your partner read the suspect his rights before the interrogation? What has the Supreme Court said about the use of deception in interrogating a suspect? Where would you interview the female victim? Who would do the interview, and how should it be conducted? What types of questions should the interviewer ask the suspect and the victim in this crime? Why? Training Needs What type of specialized training would you need as a sex crimes investigator?
