Generative AI, Game Development and the Future of Civilization
This is my talk from Gamescom Congress in 2023: the topic is the use of generative AI in game development -- but the context is much broader. This is about the next stage of human civilization, where our minds and our creativity are extended through the use of AI tools and agents. My talk is not only about creativity, but empowerment: tools that act upon our goals and reflect our individuality.
This is a somewhat condensed and updated version of a lecture I presented at the MIT Media Lab course on Metaverse (MAS.S61).

The third is going to be about projecting our will through autonomous AI agents.

It notes that change is constant and inevitable, and that one must be willing to shift and readjust their platform, strategy, community, and role. The key message is that survival depends on adapting to our constantly changing surroundings.

It was designed for constrained environments like low-bandwidth, high-latency or unreliable networks, and supports publishing and subscribing to messages with minimal bandwidth usage. MQTT has grown in popularity for industrial and IoT applications where devices need to transmit sensor data or receive commands, and its simplicity has allowed even children to understand how message flow works. While MQTT works well for many current IoT uses, further development is still needed in areas like security, data formats and device discovery as the IoT continues to expand.
