Ethical Issues With Ethnographic Research
Participants and Sampling
The survey will be administered to UOIT and Durham College students who will be recruited
using a non probability convenience sample, via Facebook and email. The sample will also be
purposively selected to ensure diversity. Only participants between the ages of 18 36 are eligible
to participate. Participants over the age of 36 are not eligible to participate in this research.
These students will be asked questions regarding their social media use, perceptions of face to face
communication in the presence of technology, perceptions of social connectedness in the presence
of technology, and engagement both face to face and screen to screen, which would help better
answer the question of whether technology has a negative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Additionally, the use of a purposive sample of self selected subjects to participate in the study
could bring about potential biases. Another potential bias is possible since individuals were only
contacted through Facebook and email. Only those who regularly checked their social media were
included in the study, those who weren t active users were excluded from the study.
Another salient point is that interviews allow researchers to easily obtain responses directly from
personal experiences, but, these memories from personal experiences can be easily manipulated.
Moreover, while interviews lead to exploratory findings which are good for follow up studies, it
can also be extremely time consuming for a researcher.
Lastly, ethnographic observations also present several drawbacks. Aside from the ethical issues,
ethnographic observations can also be viewed as too subjective and time consuming.
There can also be a potential gender bias if the female to male ratio is not

No Shave November Never again! I am reminded of Dr. Seuss s distaste for eating green eggs

From the physical standpoint, it takes at least 2 weeks for the itching to abate. They itch

Mercedes Vs Subaru Research Paper
Mercedes Benz CLA250 vs. Subaru WRX Premium
If you re in the market for a new entry level luxury sedan you ve probably run across the
Mercedes Benz CLA250. The Mercedes starts at $32,400, which is very cheap for a Mercedes,
and that s exactly what they want you to think. Over the years Mercedes has grown to be a
respected German car company making very pricy luxury cars. They all come with extremely
fancy heated and cooled massaging seats, top of the line audio systems and attention to detail
that will blow your mind away. This all comes with a price tag, you must be making a lot of
money because after you buy a Mercedes you better have money laying around, because when a
Mercedes breaks, it breaks hard and your wallet too. Then in 2016 Mercedes ... Show more content

The Mercedes has front wheel drive. It a disgrace as this is Mercedes very first front wheel drive
car but it does have better fuel economy. Front wheel drive handles awful and is horrible in the
winter. The Mercedes also comes with a sluggish 7 speed automatic. The gear changes are very
slow and make the car even less fun to drive. On the Subaru you have two options. You have the
option between a 6 speed manual or an automatic CVT transmission. If you have a brain you ll
buy this car with the 6 speed manual. I believe every car should have a manual option as it is the
best way to drive a car. It s more involving and makes you pay more attention to the road. Plus
you can t text and drive or any other distracting weird thing people do while driving. In all when
you look at these cars they are very similar but when you look a little deeper you can tell Mercedes
is pulling the classic rip off I still give Mercedes kudos for their other cars, but this one just doesn
t seem worth it to me. It s not a total rip off it s just you re gonna have to pay extra to get a car
with a Mercedes badge on it. I think it s really stupid and a waste of money but if you re a fan of
overpriced European cars then the Mercedes is the perfect option. The Subaru obviously comes out
on top in this one with more features and a starting price way cheaper than the

Business Case Analysis of Mass Merchandisers
ANNUAL GROWTH IN SALES Mass merchandisers sellers, grocery stores, club stores,
convenience stores represent the biggest opportunity to generate combined sales. WWAV and
GIS participate in highly competitive markets and have devoted substantial resources into
building their presence in the national and international segments. Both of these segments are
highly important into branding the products and increasing their market cap. Combined efforts,
manufacturers joint ventures, consumers, products and growth efforts would be potential key
success factors into the merger. Based on both companies yearly growth sales we forecasted the
annual growth sales as follows: WWAV FORECASTED SYNERGIES From 2011 to 2011,
WWAV the Cost of Sales (COS) increased 10.8% driven primarily by higher commodity costs,
increase in sales volume growth and a higher cost mix of products sold. We believe that post
acquisition that WWAV will be able to reduce the 10.8% COS to it s original standing plus
recoup an additional 33% by utilizing GIS purchasing power to achieve a 14% savings in COS.
Additionally, during the same period, WWAV experienced a 5.1% increase in selling and
distribution costs associated increased sales volume and storage facility costs. Post acquisition we
believe that WWAV can return to 2011 levels and gain additional 50% savings from GIS expansive
distribution channels and purchasing power to achieve savings of 7.7% towards operating
expenses. After acquiring WWAV, we

Disney s Roster Of Heroes
Luke Skywalker and Han Solo are joining Mickey Mouse, Buzz Lightyear and Iron Man in
Disney s roster of heroes (USA Today). Disney Chairman and CEO Robert Iger, along with Star

announced that Disney was purchasing Lucasfilm for the out of this world sum of $4 billion (the

the legendary Star Warsfranchise to the entertainment giant s stable of characters. Lucasfilm is

the Lucas empire, Disney s CEO said (USA Today).
One weekend last October, Robert Iger, chief executive officer of Walt Disney(DIS), sat through all
six Star Wars films. He d seen them before, of course. This time, he took notes. Disney was in secret
negotiations to acquire Lucasfilm, the company founded by Star Wars creator George Lucas, and
Iger needed to do some due diligence (Bloomberg). Negotiation is one of the most important as well
as one of the most interesting and challenging aspects of supply management. In industry and at

These authors simulate probabilities of default and default costs on zero down payment loans
and then compare the results with conventional underwriting standards. They estimate that, if
low income borrowers are enticed by zero down payment requirements and if no adjustment for
the higher default rates is made, the cost of the implicit subsidy would amount from $74,000 to
$87,000 per million dollars of lending. Quercia et al. (1995) show that a lower loan to value
(LTV) ratio at the time of origination (i.e., higher down payment) leads to lower default rates for
rural, low income borrowers. These authors focus on the 1981 Farmers Home Administration
Section 502 program and show that, while contemporaneous equity value in rural low income
mortgage loans is not associated with default, crisis events are. Van Order et al. (2000) find,
however, that the default behavior of both low income and average income groups is responsive
to negative contemporaneous equity, while default rates and default losses are higher for low
income borrowers. Moreover, the influence on credit risk of individual and neighborhood income
is small for LTV less than 80 percent, but it ranges from 15 up to 50 basis points for very high
LTV ratios. Enticing low income mortgage borrowers with lower down payment requirements thus
Increases the risk of default. Oladeebo (2008) examined socio economic factors influencing loan

Dispossessed And Patterns Recognition Essay
Thesis:
Women s role in science fiction and how it reflects our society
Women s role changing
Throughout Wool, The dispossessed and Pattern recognition, we are exposed to many female
characters in these novels. Although science fiction has long been defined as a genre dominated
by men, it is so surprising to see that women character has played dominate roles in these novels.
The impact of women on these novels can be clearly observed, but each book depicts women
character so differently that made me curious about knowing further about women s status and roles
play in society and how they change over time.
To start with The Dispossessed, which published 1974, tells the story of the two worlds, Anarres
and Urras, which are very different from each other. The passage marks a series of gendered
differences between the two societies: the people live and work in Annares treat women as their
equal companions and a partner that can be with them in the sexual relationship. They will give ...

Pattern recognition explores a women, Cayce Pollard, removes all the logos from her own
clothing as a way to preserve her identity. In contrast to the women presented in the podcast fetish
in Japan in BBC that women were portrayed to meet social expectation: they tend to dress up cute
and do services that met men s expectation, this novel seems to portray a woman who rather
possesses a sense of individuality and her characters are not fixed by the rigid rules or social
expectation to her. She does not define herself as propriety to society or men. She makes her
living by her unique abilities. From my perspective, it is a sign that women s role in society today
is heading to a status that they gradually possess the conscious of identity rather than a dependent.
Gibson intentionally portrays Cayce in such way to illustrate to us where women s role will be
headed in the near

Reduce Pain
Strategies to reduce the pain
A large number of researchers have observed that factors such as emotions, thoughts, and
expectations can have an impact on our perceptions of pain. If you think something will hurt, then
it may hurt more than expected. Moreover, the pain will get worse when you feel upset or scared.
To explain this reason, researchers Ronald Melzack and Patrick Wall proposed a theory which is
called Control Gate Control in the 1960s. This theory recommends that spinal cord contains a
neurological gate which can either allow or block pain signals to connect to the brain. According to
Melzack and Wall, This gate control theory is usually to use to explain the phantom or chronic
pain. For example, we often tend to rub ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Biofeedback therapy can help you recognize the signs when you have an increase in tension in

The most convincing ideas in the world, conceived and expressed in the most arresting sentences
will have no effect if not connected properly to one another. Unless the reader can easily understand
and move from one thought to the next, they will have limits to understanding anything they are

Vincenzo Ravina, the author of the article The Teenage Brain achieve coherence. Coherence is
obtained when ideas and sentences flow together smoothly and consistently. Granted, the brain
itself is the main, key topic of Ravina s essay. It is etched between every sentence and lined in the

How Does Roald Dahl Use Humor
Roald Dahl uses comedy and humor in many ways throughout many of his books and movies. The
types of humor that he uses ranges from satire to dark humor to low comedy. Roald Dahl adds
comedy and humor to his books and movies to make them more interesting and funny. Humor also
emphasizes certain scenes or lines in a book making them stand out and more memorable. Roald
Dahlputs humorand comedyinto his books and movies from experiences in his own life. This
makes the funny and humorous lines or scenes more realistic and relatable. By using types of
comedy like physical humor, satire, and dark humor; Roald Dahl makes it so that the reader is
anywhere from chuckling to rolling on the floor with laughter.
Roald Dahl uses physical humor a lot in books such as Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory. Some examples of when he uses physical humor are in Matilda The Trunchbull takes a
little girl by her pigtails and spins around in a hammer throw then letting go of the girl. The
physical humor in this is that The Trunchbull is throwing a girl by her pigtails and also when she
is landing and she gets up perfectly happy and ok with a bouquet of flowers. In Charlie and the
Chocolate Factory the physical humor is when a chubby overweight boy gets shot up the chocolate
tube like a bullet. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He uses satire in many ways to make scenes funny. In Matilda he portrayed the mean headmaster
The Trunchbull as a plump mean old lady that had warts. This was an exaggeration of the mean,

and he used them for ideas in his books and movies. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was based
off of his school where the students tested out newly made chocolates and gave there feedback to
the chocolate company. He used satire by making every candy and chocolate amazing, huge, and

Gimpel The Fool An Analysis of Gimpel The Fool
Gimpel the Fool is a story written by Isaac Bashevis Singer. Saul Bellow translated the story I read
because the story was written in Yiddish. Gimpel The Fool is a story about a simple man named
Gimpel. He is considered by many to be a fool because he is a very gullible man. He is constantly
falling for tricks laid out by almost everyone. Gimpel is persuaded to marry Elka, a woman who
will wind up using him also. Elka treats Gimpel very poorly. She has his child only 17 weeks into
the marriage. Gimpel knows the child is not his, but allows himself to be persuaded into thinking
that some babies are born premature. Gimpel also catches Elka having an affair, but convinces ...

You are not a fool. They are the fools. For he who causes his neighbor to feel shame loses paradise
himself (Kennedy 69). He is married to her for 20 years, and when she is dying, she confesses, It
was ugly how I deceived you all these years. I want to go clean to my maker, and so I have to tell
you that the children are not yours (Kennedy 76). This is the wound to Gimpel s heart that leads to
the dramatic climax. The dramatic climax occurs when Gimpel buries the bad bread. This
symbolizes closure and his decision not to be evil for a second. He is done being a fool. He goes
into the world (Kennedy 77) and leaves Frampol, closing his ties with everyone even his family
whom he tells, Be well, and forget that such a one as Gimpel ever existed (Kennedy 77).
Because of this event his life is brand new, and his view of Elka is also brand new. She is no
longer turning black. She becomes the complete opposite of who she was in reality. She is loving
and supportive of her husband in his dreams, which he sees her in all the time.
Character may be defined as a verbal representation of a human being. By using character, the
author is able to portray which people play what role in the story. Singer used character to the fullest
when creating Gimpel. He is quite possibly one of the most annoying, yet interesting characters
ever created. I say he is annoying because you constantly

Binge Eating in Non-Western Cultures
Literature regarding eating disorders in non Western cultures in general is scarce. Very few studies
address disordered eating in cultures outside of the Western and Westernized world. This could be
because of the perceived lack of eating disorders in non industrialized countries or even because
there is an overwhelming amount of concern over eating disorders in Western society. However,
there have been several studies done on binge eating and dietary restraint in non western citizens
and in non Caucasian women in the United States. Women who are not from a Caucasian
background face different societal and traditional pressures than do Caucasian women in Western
cultures, but some of the women in those cultures were found to have binge... Show more content

A major way in which they express this negative self perception is to restrain their diets or binge
eat (Eating Disorders Review, 2007, 5). Many cultures idealize robust women and practice feasting
as a common social practice. However, women feel pressured by the stick thin images they see on
Western influenced television advertisements to lose weight or look more conventionally attractive
by Western standards. They feel torn between participating in their traditional custom and looking
like the women they see idealized in the media. They feel guilt and embarrassment about overeating
but participate in it as part of the cultural norm. (Becker, 2003, 430)
Women who feel shame about eating are also less likely to seek help for their eating disorders, and
this shame has been found to be more prevalent in women from non Western ethnicities living in the
Western world. Women from different ethnicities experience guilt and a fear of losing control
while eating at different levels. Asian and Native American women are the most likely to feel
embarrassed about overeating or losing control while eating (Eating Disorders Review, 2007, 5).
They are therefore the least likely to seek help for their binge eating disorders. Healthcare providers
should take ethnicity into account when determining causal factors of binge eating in women from
Asian and Native American cultures because they are more

El Nino And Its Effects
El NiГ±o and its Effects Recently, the weather has varied greatly from traditional for many areas
within the United States; the East Coast has had next to zero snow, while Midwest states have
been hit by several heavy snowstorms. Although this change in weather patterns, compared to the
average year, may appear unordinary and confusing, it can be attributed to the fact that a very
strong El NiГ±o is currently underway. El NiГ±o occurs when trade winds in the Pacific Ocean
decrease in magnitude, which in turn results in less upwelling in the ocean off the east coast of
South America. Without the usual amount of upwelling occurring, not as much cold water is
brought to the surface, and the water in the Pacific Ocean, particularly around the equator, becomes
much warmer than normal. Although it may not be blatantly obvious why the temperature of water
in the Central Pacific would have such an effect on the United States, ocean currents and
atmospheric circulation are the backbone for climatic conditions worldwide. The El NiГ±o
currently occurring is one of the most powerful on record, and its effects can be seen, and will
increasingly continue to be seen, this winter throughout the United States. When referring to the
strength of an El NiГ±o, researches look at the change from average of temperature in the Pacific
Ocean waters, and the duration of this change. If an El NiГ±o has a temperature greater than
previous El NiГ±o s for at least three months, then it is considered to be

Code Of Ethics In Child Care

In fact, MBS has a structure where borrowers, or homeowners, pass through their principal and
interest payments to the owner, or investor, of the MBS. The housing market was at all times
high and everyone was attracted to invest in this sector. However, there was not enough money
for the public to buy houses at such a high price and as a result, people sought for ways including
seeking home loans from local banks. Even people with bad credit history were motivated to buy
houses for the high gains thereafter. The banks and brokers lent out money at the prime lending
rate to people with average credit history, while lending at a higher than prime lending rate to
people with bad credit history, without much prior investigations. At the same time, investment
banks offered attractive rates of returns to the investors of MBS. As MBS are often repackaged
and resold as obligations to collateral debts, the lower quality of credit ultimately resulted
massive defaults as the housing market declined. Superficially, the high interest subprime loan
presents nothing that is devious or illegal, it is simply a case of lender taking on a higher risk and
receiving a higher interest rate in compensation. Yet, nearly half of the loans made in 2006 were of

Char Vs Phoenix Comparison Essay
The Ultimate Showdown: Sacramento, CA vs. Phoenix, AZ We are about to talk about one of the
most amazing cities in the US and another city that isn t so bad, but definitely not Sacramento. We
will be comparing the population, environment, food and drink, lifestyle, activities and crime rate
for Sacramento and Phoenix. Sacramentois the absolute best place to live for a young adult who is
experiencing life for themselves; Phoenix and Sacramento are both breath taking in their own way,
but Sacramento is far superior in pretty much everything! Geographically, Sacramento is much
smaller that Phoenix. The population is also much less than Phoenix. The current population of

Phoenix so far seems like a big ole dust bowl. Let s look at the differences in weather for a
moment. These two cities are so different! Phoenix weather is very unpredictable, Haboobs,
Monsoons, Flashflood and blistering summers with temperatures reaching 118+, are not the first
thing that pops into mind as a good time. Sacramento on the other hand has very mild weather in
comparison. There are actually four whole different seasons you experience! The spring is
beautiful, summer doesn t exceed 105, during fall you get to see all of the trees change into a
gorgeous orange and winter is an actual winter! We are going to give an example of what a
Sacramento winter morning looks like, compared to a Phoenix winter morning. When waking
up in a Sacramento during the winter season, it s very cold! The floor feels icy, but than likely

kitchen to prepare the start of day coffee. Looking outside you see that there is dew on the
ground, but it has formed tiny little icicles on each blade of grass. Opening the sliding back
door, a small gust of wind comes in unwelcome, but smells fantastically, fresh and like the
surrounding oak trees. Suddenly, you can see your breath! Closing the door, turning the heat up to
64, now it s time to get dressed and on with the day. In the two year of living in phoenix, I have

Climate Change Has A Negative Impact On Polar Bears
Climate change has a negative impact on polar bears. This may prove to be a burden to their
existence. Polar bears are some of the world s most majestic animals but their survival is being
threatened because of climate change. Because of this change their habitat is also diminishing.
Historically speaking by the late 1980s and early 1990s, the likelihood that climate warming would
have negative effects on sea ice was gaining recognition. Climate change happens when certain
gasses block heat from escaping the atmosphere. Most scientists agree the cause of this trend is
human expansion of the greenhouse effect. One of the most common gasses and its importance on
this greenhouse effect is methane, a hydrocarbon gas produced both through natural sources and
human activities, including the decomposition of wastes in landfills, agriculture, and especially rice
cultivation, as well as ruminant digestion and manure management associated with domestic
livestock. On a molecule for molecule basis, methane is a far more active greenhouse gas than
carbon dioxide, but also one which is much less abundant in the atmosphere. Over time this
greenhouse effect causes the earth s atmosphere to warm causing some regions to become warmer
than others resulting in changing climates. This change in climate may produce more or less
precipitation depending on the region.
Polar bears need ice to move around so they can easily find food to sustain life. Some areas provide

Dreams Definition Essay
Dreams. We all have them. But why? What causes us to dream about the seemingly most
random things? A dream, by definition, is a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring
in a person s mind during sleep. Therefore, the quality of a person s sleep must somehow affect
their dreaming patterns. There are 5 stages of sleep that a person passes through each night,
supposing that the person actually goes to sleep. Stage 1 of sleep is very light and lasts for
about 10 to 15 minutes. Brain activity lowers to around 50% or more. This slowly leads us into a
deeper sleep and it is not uncommon to experience myoclonic jerks and hypnagogic imagery while
thus stage progresses. During stage 2 of sleep our brain activity lowers even more and the

Differences And Effectiveness Of Prescriptive Grammar In...
English is taught with specific rules such as: sentence structures, proper formatting, proper
words, and improper words. The set a rules and a language has and the way it should be used is
known as prescriptive grammar and is taught in this manner because it allows people to be
understood clearly in their writings and speeches. The opposite of prescriptive grammar is
known as descriptive grammar and is concerned with how a language is used. Bill Bryson, a
novelists on English, history, and science describes the difference and usefulness of prescriptive
grammar and descriptive grammar in his article titled, Good English and Bad . Prescriptive
grammar is important to learn because it has specific rules we follow; therefore, we are able to
communicate ideas, news, and information in a universal english language that is understood by
everyone. The education I received for English was not advanced; however, it did teach me the
importance of standardized writing to show meaning. At a young age, I was told there was a
proper way to write and speak English. I was taught the many rules such as: the difference between
singular verbs, pluralverbs, may, can, well good and when to properly use them. Prescriptive
grammar rules seemed meaningless when I first learned them; however, as I grew older I
realized the importance of properly speaking or writing English. I discovered, when I applied
prescriptive grammar my thoughts and intentions became more clear. For example, may I use
the restroom is used to indicate I want to be excused from a situation so I take care of my body.
When I say, can I use the restroom it implies something is either wrong with the restroom or
something is wrong with my body. It is awkward that one word is capable of affecting a sentence
so greatly; however, according to descriptive grammar a person will be able to understand my
intentions regardless of which sentence I use. My point is not that we should ignore descriptive
grammar, but we should all learn grammar with specific rules so we are able to derive a greater
meaning. If everyone is taught English in a particular way with specific rules then there would be
less misinterpretations and we would be able to explain ourselves

Godly Education Essay
Through wisdom a house is builded; and by understanding it is established; and by knowledge
shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches. Proverbs 24:3, 4 Education is
vital in life. If we did not have education, no one would be able to do anything challenging with
his or her minds, unless trained by experience. This is what Plato knew thousands of years ago.
He knew education produced a balance and harmony of character. This education model is not
seen in public education, except in the classical model, which borrowed many of his concepts.
This kind of education, however, sought to bring out political men of who were capable to fight.

Thus, he says, We shall persuade mothers and nurses to tell our chosen stories to their children
and by means of them to mold their minds and characters, which are more important then their
bodies. Plato goes on from the content to form. He calls poetry direct speech because the poet or
narrator puts himself in the position of the character speaking, in thinking his thoughts and
feeling his feelings. Plato firmly objects to this method. In Greek culture, it was the norm for a
Greek student, when reciting Homer, to throw himself into the story, delivering the speeches
with the tones and jesters of an actor. In this way, Plato was preoccupied with the mortal and
theological aspects of poets because from them the ordinary Greek man was expected to acquire
his moral and theological notions. Plato solves this dilemma by saying, If they (children) do take
part in dramatic or other presentations, they must from their earliest years act the part only of
characters suitable to them men of courage, self control, piety, freedom of spirit and similar
qualities. Plato points out that music, of the Greek culture represents the life of the listener. He
states that music is the basis used primarily in the teaching of harmony and discipline. Plato goes
on to say, parents should instill good character qualities, since children are easily impressed. This
can be good or bad. Perhaps a child has loving

The precise question at issue in this essay is the moral standing of capital punishment. Taking the

The penalties for murder and manslaughter were legislated as norms for you and all your
descendants, wherever you live (Nm 35:16 29).
This is seen as Old Testament justice but that justice is sometimes tempered with mercy,
prudence and even stated exceptions that are not so well remembered and rarely cited. For
example, no one was to kill the murderer Cain: If anyone kills Cain, Cain shall be avenged
sevenfold (Gn 4:15); and again, the great cry in Ezekiel: Answer them: As I live says the Lord
God, I swear I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked man, but rather in the wicked man s
conversion, that he may live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! (Ez 33:11).
Few took the latter two citations as a restriction on the community s right to execute a justly
condemned criminal. The same proved true of the Lord s reversal of the eye for an eye (life for life)
(Mt 5:38): But I say to you, offer no resistance to one who is evil. When someone strikes you on
your right cheek, turn the other one to him as well (Mt 5:39).
More prominent among Christian writers was their recollection and invocation of St. Paul s
defense of civil authority: for it (authority) is a servant of God for your good. But if you do evil, be
afraid, for it does not

Abstract In this paper, performance metric of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM)
system is analyzed over a composite fading channel i.e. generalized K fading channel. Here,
OFDM system is considered which include repetition code to enhance the wireless link
performance with simplicity. Symbol error rate (SER) performance is evaluated using binary phase
shift keying (BPSK) and 16 qardature amplitude modulation (16 QAM) over generalized K fading
channel. This channel model considers Nakagami m distribution to define multipath and gamma
distribution to represent shadowing. Simulation results demonstrate that improved system
performance can be achieved using repetition code in severely faded environment. A comparative
study of coded and uncoded system is also given in this paper. Consequently, SER performance is
improved with the increase in shape parameters.
Keywords Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), Generalized K fading, binary
phase shift keying (BPSK), 16 qardature amplitude modulation (16 QAM), symbol error rate (SER).

Art Of Evoking Nature s Majesty Within A Tight Space
A Japanese garden embodies the art of evoking nature s majesty within a tight space. Throughout
5th to 8th century Japanese gardens sprung up for ritual purposes. From the late 8th to the 12th
century the Japanese gardens started to become more of aesthetic and social piece. These Japanese
gardens hold many styles and elements. What make a Japanese gardenso special are the natural
materials, evoking the beauty of nature on a smaller scale. They re three types of Japanese gardens
the most common of the gardendesign possesses a stream or pond lying in the center surrounded
mounds of earth, both serving as a comparison an ocean to a mountain. The second is a dry
garden also known as Zen gardens, having no water; instead the water is characterized by the
arrangements of rocks and gravel. The third style is a tea garden developed as an extension of the
tea ceremony. The tea garden gives an illusion of a deep forest. Japanese hold three fundamental
elements water, stone, and trees, displaying the natural landscape of Japan.
Through the 5th to 8th century Japanese there have been a few archeological sites for Japanese
gardens, many of the gardens are problematic to date. During the late Nara period (8th century) they

Persuasive Essay On Winning
Competition is defined by the Merriam Webster s Collegiate Dictionary as a contest between
rivals. Many views winning as the optimum outcome for their favorite athlete or sport s team.
Henry Russell Sanders said, Sure, winning isn t everything; it s the only thing. A similar but
different phrase was echoed by Vince Lombardi. He said, Winning isn t important, but the desire
to win is. The desire to win is what pushes all to be the best they can be. A healthy society should
not be obsessed with winning. Winning, after all, isn t what makes someone the best at
something. Sure, Suzy could win the tennis match, but if she has no drive to repeat the action of
winning again, what s the point? One example of why the desire to win is best is found in the
life of Albert Einstein. This man didn t really excel in school, but he kept working and trying his
hardest. In fact, he eventually went to solve many of the great mysteries of physics. However,
he didn t make his discoveries until later in life. This shows that if one keeps working hard
things will eventually work themselves out, even if it takes. Another example of this principle
can found in the life of Phiona. She learned to play chess as a little girl in the slums of Uganda,
and she eventually went on to become a chess champion. She, however, wasn t always the best at
chess. She lost the very first game she ever played, and this loss sparked her desire to improve the
game and to eventually win many matches. She proves

from the sale of the buses that year. We did this for each year, altering the values for expenses
and fixed costs by the rate of inflation. We arrived at the cash flows for each year displayed in
exhibit B and exhibit C. By looking at the cash flows for each engine, it would appear that the
California Engine provides not only higher cash flows each year, but also ends the life of the
project with a significantly smaller amount. This means that the cost of operating capital is being
covered mainly by the cash inflows received annually. Meanwhile, the cash in flow each year for
the Los Angeles Engine is smaller than the California Engine, and at the end of the 20 year

Gun Ownership Pros And Cons
Carrying or owning a gun has a lot of pros along with a lot of cons. Why some see the necessity
of owning a gun for reasoning from hunting game to house security, I personally do not have a
true reason to own one. Owning a gun has much more responsibility than I care to have by
spending a fair amount of money and time for an item that has little to no use for me and would
not make me safe. The legality of owning a gunfar exceeds the mental health of the owner, few
things non gun owners know and what all gun owners should know. A lot of gun owners will
say that non gun owners have little say as to why one should not own guns, well I can say that
gun owning and sales can go far greater than a few old white men at Cabela s talking about the
how the AR can have a swapped .223 barrel to a .556 barrel and how the overload of attachments
can put on the gun with rails. When writing this originally I thought to research a tad to fully

the firearmlocked up in one s house in case little kids go wondering around the house and happen
to stumbles across a firearm and accidently fires it because the horrid gun owner did not just
leave the gun out but also had a clip ready. As I continued my research on locking up guns, I saw
some states and insurance companies require one to own a certified gun safe in order to own x
amount of guns. This struck me, personally I m a big safe owner. I have

On its surface, the effects of using these social networking sites seem fairly harmless. Many
scholars state that social networking sites allow close friends or family members to stay in
contact with one another and they also allow connections (business or social) to be made with
individuals that an individual may not ever come into contact with possible. On the other side
of the spectrum, some scholars argue that there are negative effects that can be linked to the use
of social networking sites. There have been studies conducted that link the use of social
networking sites to mental and psychological issues such as depression, low self esteem and
diminishing social interaction skills. This paper will take a look at the research that has been

Fractional Distillation of Hexane and Toluene
Aim/Purpose: The purpose of this experiment is to separate and purify the liquid components of a
mixture with a known composition using a technique called fractional distillation. In order to do so,
a liquid mixture is separated into three fractions in the first distillation; then, one of the fractions
produced is redistilled to increase the purity of the liquid. Since two rounds of distillation occur, the
process is termed fractional distillation. Additionally, it is crucial for students to understand the
principles of gas chromatography so the purity and percent composition of each fraction can be
determined.
Theory: The basis for this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Theoretical plates represent the stage in which two phases, such as the liquid and vapor phase of a
substance, establish equilibrium with one another. Thus, since the Hickman still has a short column
and a complete separation of hexane and toluene cannot be achieved in one cycle, there are two
theoretical plates in this experiment: one from the original distillation where three fractions are
recovered, and one from the redistillation of one of the fractions to produce more pure portions.
This experiment involves the separation of a solution containing hexane and toluene.
These compounds meet the criteria mentioned above since their boiling points are approximately
40В°C apart (hexane: 69В°C; toluene: 111В°C). During the first distillation, the liquid mixture is
separated into three fractions. These three fractions must be collected at the specific temperature
ranges shown below:

Temperature Range
Mostly Hexane
60В° 70В°C
Equal Portions of Hexane and Toluene
75В° 85В°C
Mostly Toluene
85В° 105В°C
The phase diagram of hexane and toluene depicts the relationship between temperature and the
mole fraction of the mixture, revealing that as the mole fraction of hexane and toluene changes, the
boiling point of the mixture changes as well. It is important to note that at any given point, the mole
fraction of hexane and toluene must equal 1.0. The graph below displays the changes mentioned
above in regards to the phase diagram and the

Furthermore if an investor knowingly or unknowingly breaks one of the many rules they could

Themes In The House On Mango Street
Journal 5
In the novel, the House on Mango Street, Esperanza constantly thinks about her dream of success
and leaving Mango Street. The unfortunate situations and circumstances of those who live in her
neighborhood increase her strive for this future. For instance, she doesn t want to chose marriage
as an easy way out of the neighborhood, like what most women on Mango Street choose to do.
Moreover, she wants to obtain success and independence from the neighborhood on her own.
Through her writing and education, she defies the typical fate most of the people in the
neighborhood end up with. Cisneros uses the thematic idea of dreaming to reveal the theme that a
person may have to contain the initiative to take a more challenging path to obtain success.
In the novel, people tend to rely on chance and luck to change their fate rather than taking action
to improve their circumstances. For example, Esperanza s mother claims that [w]hen [they] win
the lottery (86), they can buy a house on the hills (86). Waiting to win a lottery is impractical and
Esperanza realizes this because she s tired of looking at what [they] can t have. (86).
Consequently, Esperanza becomes even more determined to own [her] own house. (87). Esperanza
knows that she has to work to get the house, not wait on lotteries, which are unreliable. Another

My Experience With Hearing Loss
For eight hours, I got to step into the shoes of over 48 million Americans who live with a hearing

who is used to experiencing the many joys of clear sound. As I placed the earplug in for the first
time, I braced myself. I immediately compared my temporary hearing loss to those with a
permanent hearing loss and could only think about how challenging my life was going to be for the

Physical Body And Genitali The Biological Perspective
Compare and Contrast Essay
Biological Perspective: The biological perspective posits the idea that one s biological makeup is
responsible for determining one s gender. The idea is that a physical body and genitalia is what
mandates the person s gender. Some researchers have suggested that on top of this biological
determinism, genes pass on gender stereotypes like an increased ability for math in people
biologically assigned male and maternal instincts in people assigned female at birth. Others have
suggested that evolution has cemented men and women s roles in society because it always was
that way. A simplistic explanation of chromosomes states that those with Y chromosomes are male
and those without are female but as we know, it s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In general, once these intersex individuals are identified, corrective surgery is suggested to
reassign the child within the traditional gender binary so that their gender identity will match
expectations. Some scientists have suggested that gender identity is permeable within the first 18
months so that the intersexuality of their bodies can be addressed, while others suggest that
identity is fluid throughout childhood until puberty, when the body changes caused will cement
their gender identity. The process of acquiring a gender identity is simple within this framework.
Because it is solely focused on biology, the identity is assigned based on which side of the gender
binary it is closest to and that is all the nuance available. Later perspectives take this and define it
as the biological sex, which they then separate from gender. However, this process is similar
throughout all the perspectives for people who are cisgender, because they have no need for the
further nuance that other perspectives can provide.
Psychological Perspective
Freud believed that gender identity was built from our interactions and learned from our
environment, but was informed by our biological makeup. His theory of gender identity
development is constructed in stages as the child grows older, first the oral stage, then the anal
stage, then the critical stage in which the child s gender identity is constructed called the genital
stage. The genital stage requires

Descriptive Essay About A Beautiful Hotel
TITLE
The best of romance and pampering at Cape Sienna Hotel in Kamala Beach
LEAD PARAGRAPH
Seated on a bluff overlooking the Indian Ocean is Cape Sienna Hotel in Kamala Beach a sleepy
resort town on Thailand s Phuket Island. The hotel is not only rated by TripAdvisor as one of the
most romantic hotels in Thailand, but also in the world. From the moment you step foot into Cape
Sienna s lobby, which is up an elevator from the ground level allowing guests to glimpse pristine
views of the Indian Ocean, you realize that the hotel easily lives up to those high praises.

More like a spa than a hotel
As we sipped our rose tea, our minds quickly changed from chaotic travel mode to spa mode. The
view, with the soothing sounds from the water feature in the lobby, helps with that. Our
daydreaming was interrupted by one of the smiling staff members. She apologized profusely as
she drew us back to reality. Our room was ready and she wanted to acclimate us to the resort
grounds. We sat on one of the couches, still keeping an eye out the window, while she asked my
wife to pick the scent she would like for the room s toiletries, making Cape Sienna seem more like
a spa than a hotel.
The path to the hotel rooms is quite steep and windy as it cuts through the hillside jungle. The view
from all 98 rooms makes the journey worth it though as all ... Show more content on

Remember, this is a resort though so a massage is nowhere near as cheap as you can find off
premise. You re paying more for atmosphere. For example, a 90 minute Thai massage runs 2,650
THB (73 USD) versus 500 THB (14 USD) in town. I wouldn t describe the Thai massage at Cape
Sienna as traditional either. It s more of a hybrid between a Thai and a Swedish massage. This
isn t necessarily a bad thing as it s a nice gateway into a Thai massage for someone who has never

Jazz was created in the early 20th century in New Orleans, but the main roots of jazz originate

Early Childhood Observation Of Young Girls
For this ten minute observation I observed a girl with brown hair, she had bangs across her
forehead and her hair length went along her ears, hardly touched her neck. She was wearing a
pink stripped shirt that had stripes on the top 3/4 of the shirt and the rest was pink and white
flowers and she was wearing jeans that had purple, pink, and white butterflies on the back
pockets, and her shoes were blue and pink with a Velcro strap. She was in the other room today
where there is a stage in the far right corner and to the left of that there is a reading area. Behind
that there is some tables where the children can play and interact.

A Soldier s Life During The Early 1900s
During the early 1900s, soldiers who fought did not have any say in their actions. They were told
what to do, where to go, and who to take up arms against. These actions led to multiple
complications and controversies among different World War 1 historians. Soldiers were taught to
comply with all orders of their commander and disobeying such commands was rewarded by harsh
punishments. Over time however, the soldiers began to see the situation from a different vantage
point, As a result, they began to formulate escape plans, and they began to reject orders more
frequently, and began to voice disapproval. This behavior infuriated their commanders, so as time
progressed the soldiers attitudes changed. To say a soldiers life during World War

The Wars Of The Roses
et was a decisive engagement in the Wars of the Roses, a dynastic conflict of 15th century
England. The military action, along with the subsequent Battle of Tewkesbury, secured the throne
for Edward IV. On 14 April 1471 near Barnet, then a small Hertfordshire town north of London,
Edward led the House of York in a fight against the House of Lancaster, which backed Henry VI
for the throne. Leading the Lancastrian army was Richard Neville, 16th Earl of Warwick, who
played a crucial role in the fate of each king. Historians regard the battle as one of the most
important clashes in the Wars of the Roses, since it brought about a decisive turn in the fortunes of
the two houses. Edward s victory was followed by fourteen years of Yorkist rule... Show more

On their return to the battlefield, Oxford s men were erroneously shot at by his allies commanded
by John Neville, 1st Marquess of Montagu. The Lancastrians lost the battle as cries of treason
spread through their line, disrupting morale and causing many to abandon the fight. While
retreating, Warwick was killed by Yorkist soldiers.
Warwick had been such an influential figure in 15th century English politics that, on his death, no
one matched him in terms of power and popularity. Deprived of Warwick s support, the
Lancastrians suffered their final defeat at the Battle of Tewkesbury on 4 May 1471, which marked
the downfall of the House of Lancaster and the ascendancy of the House of York. Three centuries
after the Battle of Barnet, a stone obelisk was raised on the spot where Warwick purportedly died.

The Evolution Of Monogamy In Mammals
The evolution of monogamy in mammals has been challenging to understand for ecologists for
many years, because in most cases male mammals are thought to have higher fitness through
polygamous mating. One of the principles of evolution is that animals want to maximize their
reproductive success, so two animals committing to one another kind of seems counter intuitive.
Animals want to pass on their genes to the next generation, and having more offspring means there
s a higher chance of survival. When females have long lactation periods or gestation, they are
unable to mate during this time, so it would seem to be advantageous for the maleto move on to
their next mate. In a biology context, monogamyis when one male mates to one femaleforming an
exclusive bond. Research shows that approximately 3 5% of mammals are considered
monogamous compared to about 90% of birds and out of a total of 4,000 mammalian species
(Munshi South). Birds seem to be extremely monogamous because both male and female birds
actively participate in the growth of their hatchlings. The equitable division of the labor gives the
male bird more of a reason to stick around (Munshi South).
Although most mammals are not monogamous why do some of them exhibit this behavior? We
could address this question by looking at different examples of monogamous mammals and what
genetic and environmental factors could have influenced this behavior. We can also look at what
hormones could be involved in pair bonding

Participants over the age of 36 are not eligible to participate in this research. Another potential bias is possible since individuals were only contacted through Facebook and email. Only those who regularly checked their social media were included in the study, those who weren t active users were excluded from the study. Another salient point is that interviews allow researchers to easily obtain responses directly from personal experiences, but, these memories from personal experiences can be easily manipulated. Moreover, while interviews lead to exploratory findings which are good for follow up studies, it can also be extremely time consuming for a researcher. Lastly, ethnographic observations also present several drawbacks. Aside from the ethical issues, ethnographic observations can also be viewed as too subjective and time consuming. There can also be a potential gender bias if the female to male ratio is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Mercedes starts at $32,400, which is very cheap for a Mercedes, and that s exactly what they want you to think. Over the years Mercedes has grown to be a respected German car company making very pricy luxury cars. They all come with extremely fancy heated and cooled massaging seats, top of the line audio systems and attention to detail that will blow your mind away. This all comes with a price tag, you must be making a lot of money because after you buy a Mercedes you better have money laying around, because when a Mercedes breaks, it breaks hard and your wallet too. The Mercedes also comes with a sluggish 7 speed automatic. The gear changes are very slow and make the car even less fun to drive. On the Subaru you have two options. You have the option between a 6 speed manual or an automatic CVT transmission. If you have a brain you ll buy this car with the 6 speed manual. I believe every car should have a manual option as it is the best way to drive a car. It s more involving and makes you pay more attention to the road. Plus you can t text and drive or any other distracting weird thing people do while driving. In all when you look at these cars they are very similar but when you look a little deeper you can tell Mercedes is pulling the classic rip off I still give Mercedes kudos for their other cars, but this one just doesn t seem worth it to me. It s not a total rip off it s just you re gonna have to pay extra to get a car with a Mercedes badge on it. I think it s really stupid and a waste of money but if you re a fan of overpriced European cars then the Mercedes is the perfect option. WWAV and GIS participate in highly competitive markets and have devoted substantial resources into building their presence in the national and international segments. Both of these segments are highly important into branding the products and increasing their market cap. Combined efforts, manufacturers joint ventures, consumers, products and growth efforts would be potential key success factors into the merger. Based on both companies yearly growth sales we forecasted the annual growth sales as follows: WWAV FORECASTED SYNERGIES From 2011 to 2011, WWAV the Cost of Sales (COS) increased 10.8% driven primarily by higher commodity costs, increase in sales volume growth and a higher cost mix of products sold. We believe that post acquisition that WWAV will be able to reduce the 10.8% COS to it s original standing plus recoup an additional 33% by utilizing GIS purchasing power to achieve a 14% savings in COS. Additionally, during the same period, WWAV experienced a 5.1% increase in selling and distribution costs associated increased sales volume and storage facility costs. These authors simulate probabilities of default and default costs on zero down payment loans and then compare the results with conventional underwriting standards. They estimate that, if low income borrowers are enticed by zero down payment requirements and if no adjustment for the higher default rates is made, the cost of the implicit subsidy would amount from $74,000 to $87,000 per million dollars of lending. Quercia et al. (1995) show that a lower loan to value (LTV) ratio at the time of origination (i.e., higher down payment) leads to lower default rates for rural, low income borrowers. These authors focus on the 1981 Farmers Home Administration Section 502 program and show that, while contemporaneous equity value in rural low income mortgage loans is not associated with default, crisis events are. Van Order et al. The impact of women on these novels can be clearly observed, but each book depicts women character so differently that made me curious about knowing further about women s status and roles play in society and how they change over time. To start with The Dispossessed, which published 1974, tells the story of the two worlds, Anarres and Urras, which are very different from each other. To explain this reason, researchers Ronald Melzack and Patrick Wall proposed a theory which is called Control Gate Control in the 1960s. I want to go clean to my maker, and so I have to tell you that the children are not yours (Kennedy 76). This is the wound to Gimpel s heart that leads to the dramatic climax. The dramatic climax occurs when Gimpel buries the bad bread. This symbolizes closure and his decision not to be evil for a second. He is done being a fool. Very few studies address disordered eating in cultures outside of the Western and Westernized world. However, there have been several studies done on binge eating and dietary restraint in non western citizens and in non Caucasian women in the United States. Many cultures idealize robust women and practice feasting as a common social practice. However, women feel pressured by the stick thin images they see on Western influenced television advertisements to lose weight or look more conventionally attractive by Western standards. They feel torn between participating in their traditional custom and looking like the women they see idealized in the media. They feel guilt and embarrassment about overeating but participate in it as part of the cultural norm. (Becker, 2003, 430) Women who feel shame about eating are also less likely to seek help for their eating disorders, and this shame has been found to be more prevalent in women from non Western ethnicities living in the Western world. Women from different ethnicities experience guilt and a fear of losing control while eating at different levels. Asian and Native American women are the most likely to feel embarrassed about overeating or losing control while eating (Eating Disorders Review, 2007, 5). • 16. El Nino And Its Effects El NiГ±o and its Effects Recently, the weather has varied greatly from traditional for many areas within the United States; the East Coast has had next to zero snow, while Midwest states have been hit by several heavy snowstorms. Although this change in weather patterns, compared to the average year, may appear unordinary and confusing, it can be attributed to the fact that a very strong El NiГ±o is currently underway. El NiГ±o occurs when trade winds in the Pacific Ocean decrease in magnitude, which in turn results in less upwelling in the ocean off the east coast of South America. Without the usual amount of upwelling occurring, not as much cold water is brought to the surface, and the water in the Pacific Ocean, particularly around the equator, becomes much warmer than normal. Although it may not be blatantly obvious why the temperature of water in the Central Pacific would have such an effect on the United States, ocean currents and atmospheric circulation are the backbone for climatic conditions worldwide. The El NiГ±o currently occurring is one of the most powerful on record, and its effects can be seen, and will increasingly continue to be seen, this winter throughout the United States. When referring to the strength of an El NiГ±o, researches look at the change from average of temperature in the Pacific Ocean waters, and the duration of this change. The housing market was at all times high and everyone was attracted to invest in this sector. However, there was not enough money for the public to buy houses at such a high price and as a result, people sought for ways including seeking home loans from local banks. Even people with bad credit history were motivated to buy houses for the high gains thereafter. The banks and brokers lent out money at the prime lending rate to people with average credit history, while lending at a higher than prime lending rate to people with bad credit history, without much prior investigations. At the same time, investment banks offered attractive rates of returns to the investors of MBS. As MBS are often repackaged and resold as obligations to collateral debts, the lower quality of credit ultimately resulted massive defaults as the housing market declined. Superficially, the high interest subprime loan presents nothing that is devious or illegal, it is simply a case of lender taking on a higher risk and receiving a higher interest rate in compensation. Polar bears are some of the world s most majestic animals but their survival is being threatened because of climate change. Because of this change their habitat is also diminishing. Historically speaking by the late 1980s and early 1990s, the likelihood that climate warming would have negative effects on sea ice was gaining recognition. Climate change happens when certain gasses block heat from escaping the atmosphere. Most scientists agree the cause of this trend is human expansion of the greenhouse effect. One of the most common gasses and its importance on this greenhouse effect is methane, a hydrocarbon gas produced both through natural sources and human activities, including the decomposition of wastes in landfills, agriculture, and especially rice cultivation, as well as ruminant digestion and manure management associated with domestic livestock. On a molecule for molecule basis, methane is a far more active greenhouse gas than carbon dioxide, but also one which is much less abundant in the atmosphere. Over time this greenhouse effect causes the earth s atmosphere to warm causing some regions to become warmer than others resulting in changing climates. This change in climate may produce more or less precipitation depending on the region. Polar bears need ice to move around so they can easily find food to sustain life. A dream, by definition, is a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person s mind during sleep. Therefore, the quality of a person s sleep must somehow affect their dreaming patterns. There are 5 stages of sleep that a person passes through each night, supposing that the person actually goes to sleep. Stage 1 of sleep is very light and lasts for about 10 to 15 minutes. Brain activity lowers to around 50% or more. This slowly leads us into a deeper sleep and it is not uncommon to experience myoclonic jerks and hypnagogic imagery while thus stage progresses. • 26. Differences And Effectiveness Of Prescriptive Grammar In... English is taught with specific rules such as: sentence structures, proper formatting, proper words, and improper words. The set a rules and a language has and the way it should be used is known as prescriptive grammar and is taught in this manner because it allows people to be understood clearly in their writings and speeches. The opposite of prescriptive grammar is known as descriptive grammar and is concerned with how a language is used. Bill Bryson, a novelists on English, history, and science describes the difference and usefulness of prescriptive grammar and descriptive grammar in his article titled, Good English and Bad . Prescriptive grammar is important to learn because it has specific rules we follow; therefore, we are able to communicate ideas, news, and information in a universal english language that is understood by everyone. The education I received for English was not advanced; however, it did teach me the importance of standardized writing to show meaning. At a young age, I was told there was a proper way to write and speak English. I was taught the many rules such as: the difference between singular verbs, pluralverbs, may, can, well good and when to properly use them. Prescriptive grammar rules seemed meaningless when I first learned them; however, as I grew older I realized the importance of properly speaking or writing English. I discovered, when I applied prescriptive grammar my thoughts and intentions became more clear. For example, may I use the restroom is used to indicate I want to be excused from a situation so I take care of my body. When I say, can I use the restroom it implies something is either wrong with the restroom or something is wrong with my body. It is awkward that one word is capable of affecting a sentence so greatly; however, according to descriptive grammar a person will be able to understand my intentions regardless of which sentence I use. My point is not that we should ignore descriptive grammar, but we should all learn grammar with specific rules so we are able to derive a greater meaning. If everyone is taught English in a particular way with specific rules then there would be less misinterpretations and we would be able to explain ourselves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Plato goes on from the content to form. He calls poetry direct speech because the poet or narrator puts himself in the position of the character speaking, in thinking his thoughts and feeling his feelings. Plato firmly objects to this method. In Greek culture, it was the norm for a Greek student, when reciting Homer, to throw himself into the story, delivering the speeches with the tones and jesters of an actor. In this way, Plato was preoccupied with the mortal and theological aspects of poets because from them the ordinary Greek man was expected to acquire his moral and theological notions. Plato solves this dilemma by saying, If they (children) do take part in dramatic or other presentations, they must from their earliest years act the part only of characters suitable to them men of courage, self control, piety, freedom of spirit and similar qualities. Plato points out that music, of the Greek culture represents the life of the listener. He states that music is the basis used primarily in the teaching of harmony and discipline. For example, no one was to kill the murderer Cain: If anyone kills Cain, Cain shall be avenged sevenfold (Gn 4:15); and again, the great cry in Ezekiel: Answer them: As I live says the Lord God, I swear I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked man, but rather in the wicked man s conversion, that he may live. Here, OFDM system is considered which include repetition code to enhance the wireless link performance with simplicity. Symbol error rate (SER) performance is evaluated using binary phase shift keying (BPSK) and 16 qardature amplitude modulation (16 QAM) over generalized K fading channel. This channel model considers Nakagami m distribution to define multipath and gamma distribution to represent shadowing. Simulation results demonstrate that improved system performance can be achieved using repetition code in severely faded environment. Many views winning as the optimum outcome for their favorite athlete or sport s team. Henry Russell Sanders said, Sure, winning isn t everything; it s the only thing. A similar but different phrase was echoed by Vince Lombardi. He said, Winning isn t important, but the desire to win is. The desire to win is what pushes all to be the best they can be. A healthy society should not be obsessed with winning. Winning, after all, isn t what makes someone the best at something. Sure, Suzy could win the tennis match, but if she has no drive to repeat the action of winning again, what s the point? One example of why the desire to win is best is found in the life of Albert Einstein. This man didn t really excel in school, but he kept working and trying his hardest. In fact, he eventually went to solve many of the great mysteries of physics. However, he didn t make his discoveries until later in life. This shows that if one keeps working hard things will eventually work themselves out, even if it takes. Another example of this principle can found in the life of Phiona. In order to do so, a liquid mixture is separated into three fractions in the first distillation; then, one of the fractions produced is redistilled to increase the purity of the liquid. Since two rounds of distillation occur, the process is termed fractional distillation. Thus, since the Hickman still has a short column and a complete separation of hexane and toluene cannot be achieved in one cycle, there are two theoretical plates in this experiment: one from the original distillation where three fractions are recovered, and one from the redistillation of one of the fractions to produce more pure portions. This experiment involves the separation of a solution containing hexane and toluene. These compounds meet the criteria mentioned above since their boiling points are approximately 40В°C apart (hexane: 69В°C; toluene: 111В°C). During the first distillation, the liquid mixture is separated into three fractions. These three fractions must be collected at the specific temperature ranges shown below: Desired Composition Temperature Range Mostly Hexane 60В° 70В°C Equal Portions of Hexane and Toluene 75В° 85В°C Mostly Toluene 85В° 105В°C The phase diagram of hexane and toluene depicts the relationship between temperature and the mole fraction of the mixture, revealing that as the mole fraction of hexane and toluene changes, the boiling point of the mixture changes as well. • 39. Themes In The House On Mango Street Journal 5 In the novel, the House on Mango Street, Esperanza constantly thinks about her dream of success and leaving Mango Street. The unfortunate situations and circumstances of those who live in her neighborhood increase her strive for this future. For instance, she doesn t want to chose marriage as an easy way out of the neighborhood, like what most women on Mango Street choose to do. Moreover, she wants to obtain success and independence from the neighborhood on her own. Through her writing and education, she defies the typical fate most of the people in the neighborhood end up with. Cisneros uses the thematic idea of dreaming to reveal the theme that a person may have to contain the initiative to take a more challenging path to obtain success. In the novel, people tend to rely on chance and luck to change their fate rather than taking action to improve their circumstances. For example, Esperanza s mother claims that [w]hen [they] win the lottery (86), they can buy a house on the hills (86). Waiting to win a lottery is impractical and Esperanza realizes this because she s tired of looking at what [they] can t have. (86). Consequently, Esperanza becomes even more determined to own [her] own house. (87). Esperanza knows that she has to work to get the house, not wait on lotteries, which are unreliable. Another example of people s dependency on chance to improve their situation would be Marin. Marin waits for a car to stop, a star to fall, someone to change her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. My Experience With Hearing Loss For eight hours, I got to step into the shoes of over 48 million Americans who live with a hearing loss. I had the opportunity to experience what it means to have an invisible impairment in a world made for those who have good hearing. The bright orange earplug served as my ticket to one of the most humbling adventures I have ever undertaken. I would have never imagined that a 32dB unilateral hearingloss would cause so much frustration. With frustration, however, came understanding and empathy. I am now confident that my experience will aid me in developing accurate expectations and treatment plans to my future clients. I, like many, know several individuals with a hearing loss. I have seen the devastation a hearing loss can cause for someone who is used to experiencing the many joys of clear sound. As I placed the earplug in for the first time, I braced myself. I immediately compared my temporary hearing loss to those with a permanent hearing loss and could only think about how challenging my life was going to be for the next few hours. I knew that my communicationskills were going to be impaired and my value as a communication partner was going to take a nosedive. One of the senses that I rely on every day was reduced and it felt like a part of me was missing. While I have experienced small hearing losses due to cerumen buildup, this was by far one of the most severe losses. As I went through the first couple minutes with the earplug in, I wondered if I would be able ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 42. Physical Body And Genitali The Biological Perspective Compare and Contrast Essay Biological Perspective: The biological perspective posits the idea that one s biological makeup is responsible for determining one s gender. The idea is that a physical body and genitalia is what mandates the person s gender. Some researchers have suggested that on top of this biological determinism, genes pass on gender stereotypes like an increased ability for math in people biologically assigned male and maternal instincts in people assigned female at birth. Others have suggested that evolution has cemented men and women s roles in society because it always was that way. A simplistic explanation of chromosomes states that those with Y chromosomes are male and those without are female but as we know, it s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In general, once these intersex individuals are identified, corrective surgery is suggested to reassign the child within the traditional gender binary so that their gender identity will match expectations. Some scientists have suggested that gender identity is permeable within the first 18 months so that the intersexuality of their bodies can be addressed, while others suggest that identity is fluid throughout childhood until puberty, when the body changes caused will cement their gender identity. The process of acquiring a gender identity is simple within this framework. Because it is solely focused on biology, the identity is assigned based on which side of the gender binary it is closest to and that is all the nuance available. Later perspectives take this and define it as the biological sex, which they then separate from gender. However, this process is similar throughout all the perspectives for people who are cisgender, because they have no need for the further nuance that other perspectives can provide. Psychological Perspective Freud believed that gender identity was built from our interactions and learned from our environment, but was informed by our biological makeup. His theory of gender identity development is constructed in stages as the child grows older, first the oral stage, then the anal stage, then the critical stage in which the child s gender identity is constructed called the genital stage. The genital stage requires ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The hotel is not only rated by TripAdvisor as one of the most romantic hotels in Thailand, but also in the world. From the moment you step foot into Cape Sienna s lobby, which is up an elevator from the ground level allowing guests to glimpse pristine views of the Indian Ocean, you realize that the hotel easily lives up to those high praises. The view, with the soothing sounds from the water feature in the lobby, helps with that. Our daydreaming was interrupted by one of the smiling staff members. She apologized profusely as she drew us back to reality. Our room was ready and she wanted to acclimate us to the resort grounds. We sat on one of the couches, still keeping an eye out the window, while she asked my wife to pick the scent she would like for the room s toiletries, making Cape Sienna seem more like a spa than a hotel. The military action, along with the subsequent Battle of Tewkesbury, secured the throne for Edward IV. On 14 April 1471 near Barnet, then a small Hertfordshire town north of London, Edward led the House of York in a fight against the House of Lancaster, which backed Henry VI for the throne. Leading the Lancastrian army was Richard Neville, 16th Earl of Warwick, who played a crucial role in the fate of each king. Warwick had been such an influential figure in 15th century English politics that, on his death, no one matched him in terms of power and popularity. Deprived of Warwick s support, the Lancastrians suffered their final defeat at the Battle of Tewkesbury on 4 May 1471, which marked the downfall of the House of Lancaster and the ascendancy of the House of York. • 51. The Evolution Of Monogamy In Mammals The evolution of monogamy in mammals has been challenging to understand for ecologists for many years, because in most cases male mammals are thought to have higher fitness through polygamous mating. One of the principles of evolution is that animals want to maximize their reproductive success, so two animals committing to one another kind of seems counter intuitive. Animals want to pass on their genes to the next generation, and having more offspring means there s a higher chance of survival. When females have long lactation periods or gestation, they are unable to mate during this time, so it would seem to be advantageous for the maleto move on to their next mate. In a biology context, monogamyis when one male mates to one femaleforming an exclusive bond. Research shows that approximately 3 5% of mammals are considered monogamous compared to about 90% of birds and out of a total of 4,000 mammalian species (Munshi South). Birds seem to be extremely monogamous because both male and female birds actively participate in the growth of their hatchlings. The equitable division of the labor gives the male bird more of a reason to stick around (Munshi South). Although most mammals are not monogamous why do some of them exhibit this behavior? We could address this question by looking at different examples of monogamous mammals and what genetic and environmental factors could have influenced this behavior. We can also look at what hormones could be involved in pair bonding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
