Sarah Gardner completed an internship at the St. Anthony Front Desk in the Information Services department, supervised by Tricia Day and Vicki Harding. During her internship, she helped visitors locate patients and departments, escorted patients to different areas of the hospital, and delivered items from the gift shop. She learned important skills like problem solving, communication, and detachment. Her greatest accomplishment was helping a patient meet with a chaplain in an emergency situation. The internship experience opened her eyes to possible future careers in healthcare like being a physician assistant or nurse.

Alexis Georgia outlined six goals she wished to accomplish during her internship at Clemson-Seneca Pediatrics. These included being able to conduct vision, hearing, and strep tests without assistance; complete all client intake, lab order, and lab results forms; conduct an 18-year-old well visit without aids; understand how the practice evaluates ADD medication effectiveness; and communicate her interest in pursuing a career in pediatrics. By the end of the internship she was able to achieve all of her goals through demonstration, practice, repetition, and the guidance of her preceptors and other medical professionals.
AMEE 2010 Authentic capture of longitudinal care
