Jan Aart Scholte is a professor who studies globalization. He notes that globalization is viewed positively by some as promoting progress and peace, while others see it as causing deprivation, disaster, and doom. The document then lists several ways that globalization has impacted education systems, such as encouraging more internationally connected and multicultural teaching methods, producing more scientifically and technically trained individuals, and enhancing students' abstract thinking and teamwork skills. Global education also aims to develop self-awareness, social awareness, and relationship-building skills for a diverse world. Specific impacts include increasing English education, strengthening globally in-demand college courses, and internationalizing education standards and opportunities.

In a May 9, 2024 paper, Juri Opitz from the University of Zurich, along with Shira Wein and Nathan Schneider form Georgetown University, discussed the importance of linguistic expertise in natural language processing (NLP) in an era dominated by large language models (LLMs).
