This document summarizes a study that analyzed household transmission of COVID-19 between unvaccinated contacts and contacts of individuals who had received one dose of the AstraZeneca or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at least 21 days prior. The study found that household contacts of vaccinated individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 14 or more days after vaccination had lower odds of becoming secondary cases themselves compared to household contacts of unvaccinated individuals. Specifically, the adjusted odds ratios were 0.53 for AstraZeneca and 0.49 for Moderna, indicating a halving of the odds of household transmission when the index case was vaccinated 21-35 days before testing positive. However, this protective effect was diminished if vaccination occurred
