Gandhi believed in an all-round education that developed the body, mind and spirit of a child. He proposed a basic education system focused on crafts like spinning, weaving and agriculture. The curriculum would be activity-centered and taught in the local mother tongue. It aimed to make children self-reliant through practical skills while also teaching values like simplicity and social harmony. Education would be universal and compulsory from ages 7-14. The goal was a holistic development of the child.
